kpop female soloists are under appreciated: a hot take bc fuck u

i would like to take a second to talk about how underrated a lot of female kpop soloists are, even the big ones. HyunA owning her own sexuality and being unashamed of it in a country and a society that loves to shame girls for being too sexual on purpose while still expecting them to be sexy but ‘unaware of it’ and ‘innocent’ had such an effect on the kpop industry and on girls everywhere. The way she responded to her ‘dating scandal’ with such grace and elegance and POWER because fuck you, ya she’s dating Hyojong, yes they’ve been dating for almost three years, and no, that’s none of your business. AMBER LIU, just fucking up the game and screwing with gender stereotypes, when in korea especially being such a tomboy isn’t really as accepted, especially not as a kpop idol. And when she is neglected and put to the side by sm, she releases a whole album of music that SHE wants to make, not what sm wants her to make, all by her damn self because it’s what she loves and so that’s what she gonna fucking do. Sunmi’s power, her talent, her lyrics, are beautiful, she always has something to say and she will SAY IT. She supports lgbtq+ rights unashamedly in a country that is still notoriously anti gay. She’s literally the he only straight woman is name a gay icon. Jessi fucking knows who she is and what she wants and damn is she a talented fucking rapper and artist. I live for her just making men uncomfortable by openly talking about her boob job because “so what if they’re fake? I paid for them!” Hyolyn just being a queen, constantly, all the time, never stopping. Fucking it up at acting awards shows and being unapologetic bc fuck you, they hired her to perform so what’s your fucking issue huh? Chungha just dancing so well oh my god it’s amazing. No one can beat her dancing like damn. Coco, being adorable and cute and opening up her own boutique and why do people not pay attention to her? Luna, who deserves more promotion from sm because she is such a talented powerful singer and dancer, they are sleeping on her so much. PARK BOM, releasing a beautiful fucking comeback after being locked away in the fucking yg dungeon for what is the stupidest scandal of all time and KILLING it. TAEYEON, making people cry with her comeback it’s so beautiful, she’s such a powerful vocalist and she’s done so much for kpop, both as a soloist and as a part of snsd. CL, just being a badass bitch always! Gyeong Ree, being a talented queen please listen to her music!!!!! IU, a queen literally all of her songs are cute or beautiful or both and damn. Yubin, who really doesn’t get the attention she deserves, game over is a BOP. Yukika, who’s recent comeback was so amazing yet when i watched her on a music show performance live because i wanted to see her, i was the only one in the comments who knew who she was, which is a TRAVESTY. Suran, who’s talented and amazing and who’s music is beautiful yet what she’s most known for is collaborating with Suga, which is shit bc she really shouldn’t be defined by the men she has collaborated with. All of these woman and more are POWERFUL and BEAUTIFUL and DESERVE SM MORE THAN WHAT THEY GET. Please please please give them the love and support and attention they deserve bc fuck it, they are killing the game rn.
