Not Me politics+art links from Nuchy
here are some cool political/artistic Not Me things I’ve learned from scrolling through Nuchy’s twitter, and then watching this 2+ hour long english subbed interview with Nuchy and the two other writers of the show, Noolek and M:
The van liberation scene in episode 14 was heavily based on a real-life thing that happened (video of the real-life event is included in this tweet) (I haven’t found any info beyond this video, so if you know when/where it happened or have a news article about it or something please share, I’m so curious!) - Nuchy tweeted “The scene in the series seem to be like a miracle but actually it's  inspired by the true event. We cant film an extravaganza people chasing the van scene, so I changed to the pov of the gang in the van instead with a new perspective and artistic approach.” - Noolek tweeted (this one’s just run through google translate though) “You guys are our inspiration in this scene. The scene is gone and I cry every time I watch it. It triggers us a lot. We pecked ourselves with a million swearing in our heads. but when the fire has been ignited The candle flame will never be extinguished again. because sovereignty truly belongs to the people” - Nuchy held a Twitter Spaces event with Amnesty Thailand talking with families of victims of forced disappearance.
the speaker on the megaphone at the protest in ep 13 is Thatchapong Kaedum AKA Boy, a Thai activist who does a lot of work - against the Chana industrial project (”which includes the construction of industrial facilities, deep-sea ports, and biomass power plants. However, the approval was made without any local participation and many questioned the government for its lack of inclusion and transparency.") -in support of Karen people’s right to return to their homeland in Bong Kloi in the Kaeng Krachan forests in Thailand, after being violently displaced to create a national park there
... you may recognize the details of this story from a combination of Not Me plot points: a) the native people who were forced off the same land Tawi built his house on because they couldn’t “prove” residency on that land b) the diplomat interview question White gets about UNESCO refusing to grant world heritage site status because of Thailand’s human rights abuses-- this notably did NOT happen here-- UNESCO granted Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex a spot on the World Heritage List despite human rights advocates saying they shouldn’t.
Nuchy invited real activists to be part of the crowd in multiple protest scenes as well-- the crowd from that scene in ep 13 were from Talu Fah, a pro-democracy protest group, and the pride rally crowd were real LGBT activists.
The rainbow flag scene was not originally going to be a whole pride thing, it was going to be a mostly Tawi-centric protest. But then, like 3 days before they shot that scene, the Constitutional Court upheld section 1448, which defines marriage as only between a woman and a man, so Nuchy decided to gather up her LGBT activist contacts real quick to add in that element.
this June Nuchy shared a video from Thailand’s first official Pride parade in 16 years: people jumping and dancing under the flag just like the scene from Not Me
Nuchy highlighted some artists featured in the series!: - Rap Against Dictatorship, from the scene where Eugene dances, are here on twitter and here’s an English-language article about their song “16 years” (I can’t find the lyrics translated into english sadly, but I do really like this song! and the article gives you a vague outline of what they’re talking about.) - Oat Montien, who did Yok’s art! He is a friend of Nuchy’s, and she mentioned she chose him because his art explored homoeroticism. He actually came on set and worked with First on how to pay attention like an artist would for his drawing scenes. - KNN.5 who did Namo’s art! - Baphoboyz, who did the UNAR art!
Also: upcoming Nuchy projects!!
Forbidden, the first Thai-language HBO series, will be coming out sometime this year! it’s a supernatural thriller show directed by Nuchy and Josh Kim.
Nuchy will be directing a Hollywood film with producer Dean Altit and the writer JittiRain. The article says there will be one lead actor from America and one lead actor from Thailand!

Every single time I consume any type of thai media, and I grow to like/enjoy it more than other media, I just have this feeling one of these 4 people are involved in some way.
P'Aof
P'Jojo
P'Nuchy
P'Golf
Now when those 4 somehow do something together (for example P'Aof is producing The Eclipse while P'Golf directed the show) my mind goes blanc and all I have to say is "PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS! MAKE ME YOUR PUPPET!"
Now, have I been disappointed by those people in the past? Yes, by all of them. I've felt disgusted, used, betrayed, all of those nasty emotions you don't really want to experience and tbh I don't want to add a BUT...
BUT
I've grown to love most of their works over the years and I am very very thankful because, in some ways, their shows and the teams behind them have helped me more with discovering myself than anything/anyone.
So kuddos and a big THANK YOU to my 4 fave thai filmmakers. Please don't stop. I want to get old watching your shows, with my friends, kids, etc etc.

I'm sorry but I'm still thinking about the fact that gmmtv got to work with an award winning director, the head of the directors' association of thailand, and they were like "let's give her only a camera & a half lol 🤪🤙"

what other directors do you love to want the boys to work with? Mine is P'Nutchy they'll LOVE jiimysea
OH I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO SEE P'NUCHY DIRECTING JIMMYSEA IN A THRILLER OR A POLITICAL DRAMA OR EVEN IN THE HEIST QL OF MY DREAMS I JUST KNOW WHATEVER SHOW THEY MADE TOGETHER WOULD BE SO GOOD
like i have my grievances with the second half of not me but when it comes to directing i think p'nuchy is AMAZING. shout out to the seanwhite pride flag and the danyok naked drawing scenes for still being some of my absolute favorite moments in anything EVER!!!!!!!!
i've actually been very lucky with jimmysea because they have already worked with two of my favorite directors (p'x and p'aof) and they're most likely going to work with my other favorite one (p'jojo) next, so aside from p'nuchy i don't think i have any specific wishes, but maybe it would be interesting to see them in a show directed by golf tanwarin (the eclipse, 609 bedtime story)
OH ALSO!!!!!!! if we're not talking about BLs exclusively, i would LOVE to see jimmysea working with o patha (the gifted, enigma), i absolutely adore his style, no one does transition shots like he does!!!!!

apparently i can't seem to keep my mouth shut so here i go rambling about acting again...
so i was watching some behind the scenes from hidden agenda and there's this one point from when they were filming the biking scene from the practice date in the park and joong makes fun of dunk for not holding onto him properly and then dunk discusses with staff how exactly he's supposed to hold joong/joke (from 2:45 on)
and there's this one thing that dunk explains afterwards (min 3:37) that delights me a lot in particular and it's this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
because YES!! he's right!!!!
it delights me to hear him say this because growing up my mom would often point out acting things to me and especially since the start of the pandemic we've done a lot of analyzing and this thing about the hands that dunk is talking about here is actually something my mom has mentioned to me before on multiple occasions when we were talking about body language in acting
in fact, i remember this one moment in particular from a year ago: we were watching the eclipse together as it aired and towards the end of the series (ep 9?? or 10 maybe????) there was this one point during an akkayan scene where my mom suddenly pointed at khaotung and went "he looks tense". and i was so confused because the boys were lying in bed in that scene, they were lying down and i was like "how the FUCK do you even see that????"
and so over the rest of the episode (and the following ones) my mom started to look out for scenes where that tension she was referring to was easier to see so that she could explain to me how she could tell. she did find a scene and i was like "ohhh ok yeah i think i get it"
and then the final episode dropped and we were watching it together as usual when suddenly my mom hits pause and goes "do you see it?"
Tumblr media
and i immediately knew she was referring to the curled up fingers:
Tumblr media
in fact, i had watched the ep without subs for thai practice before watching it together with her and even by myself i'd already noticed that (and i knew my mom would say something about it lmao)
and the issue with khao's hands in this scene is exactly what dunk is saying in the hidden agenda behind the scenes clip from above. khao is touching first's waist only with the tips of his fingers and it looks tentative, as if he doesn't quite dare to maximize the physical touch by using his entire hand to hold first
and that isn't to say as an actor you are forbidden from ever curling your fingers like that! however, everything you do in front of the camera (or on stage) needs to be on purpose. so if you're curling up your fingers when holding onto your colleague? well, it should be a conscious decision that you've taken in order to tell the audience a particular thing regarding the story/the character(s)/the relationship between the characters/etc
and here in the eclipse those curled fingers look strange because here we are basically at the end. we're in the final episode, more than halfway through the final part of the episode (part 4/4, min 9:04 out of 14mins to be exact). at this point the characters have been through a lot together, they've gone through character development, after a long, tumultuous story ayan and akk are finally on the same page as akk is finally comfortable with and open about his feelings for aye. so aye looking like he's afraid to touch akk just feels completely off at this point in the story (esp considering that in the story ayan is the one who is open and unapologetic about his feelings and his wants)
anyway, this is just something i was reminded of when i was watching the behind the scenes of hidden agenda and dunk brought up the hand issue. and i just always get really excited when i watch interviews and especially behind the scenes videos and the actors mention/talk about/explain something that i was taught myself
(also, disclaimer just in case: i don't mean to say that khaotung is a bad actor bc we all know that's not the case. it's just, that particular moment is off for the reasons that i've explained above. and it's somehow relieving to know that even pros don't necessarily nail every single second of their screen time kdjffdkjgf)

GMMTV 2024 PART 2 - BINGO
For the upcoming event on April 23rd (which I'm not going to be able to watch live 😭😭😭)
I was quite pleased with part 1 🌈🥰 And let's be real, I've got no time to make another bingo card for part 2 so here's what's left of my first card!
Thanks again to @icouldhyperfixatehim for creating this awesome bingo card.
Tumblr media
Things I’m fairly sure we’re getting:
Firstkhao series (pretty much confirmed)
Mark fucking Pakin KISSING (it looks like we're getting MarkOhm??)
(And that's it since I've had no time to snoop on social media recently and anyway I looove to be surprised)
And yes I'm aware we're not getting a Fluke Pusit main role since my man moved on from GMMTV since then (to get himself his own main role: bravo!!)
Things I would really like to see:
P'Jojo said somewhere that he’d like to do a domestic cutesy BL, please give the man what he wants. As a general rule, GMMTV should just let Jojo do whatever Jojo wants to do, period.
P’Aof once said in a interview that he would like to work with actors he hasn’t work with yet and that among gmmtv he hadn’t had the chance to work with Gun (or Krist) soooooooooo this could be the year is what I’m saying.
PLEASE give me something by the BMF production team (P'Waa Waasuthep, who also directed The Gifted) because Be My Favorite is definitely one of my favorite series, it was perfect.
Another more politically oriented drama (à la The Eclipse, Not Me)
Since remakes are in right now, you know what I would love a Thai take on? Color Rush! I really liked this KBL, it had SUCH an interesting premise but… *sigh* it was way too short to be impactful imo (the vibe of the show though omg). (P'Nuchy? P'Golf?)
More trans characters with great supporting roles/strong storylines, more non-binary characters
More QUEER ELDERS!! Different generations of queer interacting (ex: the gay uncles in My Ride the series, they were EVERYTHING)
Already completed in Part 1 :
EARTHMIX: Ossan's Love TH
ADULT LIFE BL (post uni): The Trainee, Peaceful Property, Ossan's Love TH, Wandee Goodday, hell I'll put Pluto in it too!
GEMINIFOURTH: My Love Mix-Up!
OFFGUN and TAYNEW: separately but whatever it counts (and anyway it was a wishful dream)
NEO SERIOUS ROLE: Am I splitting hair? Who's knows? But it does not look like he's playing a clown in My Golden Blood, gimme baseball bat!Neo
1 GL NEW SHIP: Pluto (plus several side couples!!)
MAGICAL REALISM BL: My Golden Blood's more supernatural but saaaaaaaaame
NEW WTF SHIP: JossGawin +  NamtanFilm
GAWIN CASKEY MAIN ROLE: My Golden Blood
WINNYSATANG + AOUBOOM + ENSEMBLE BL CAST: We Are the series

Rules: List 10 of your comfort shows, then tag 10 people
Thanks for tagging me y'all @sorry-bonebag @twig-tea @rocketturtle4 ✨
My criteria for a comfort show are gonna be 1) any piece of media 2) that I've watched more than once and 3) that I will keep reaching for. That's it. I can't even explain what the common denominator is tbh?? It's just- the kinda movie or show that I need on DVD to easily put on again and quell the brain worms (yes, I physically own all but #4-#6).
1. My School President: What can I say, this show took me entirely by surprise! I started watching a few days before episode 4 aired - aka the pinky touch ✨ the conversation in the stairwell ✨ and the origin of Gem4th's fanclub name being Khun Nuu ✨ - and fell right in love with it. I love musical storytelling, I love coming of age stories, I love a good romance, and I love found family/friend group dynamics so this really hit the spot for me. I guess these apply to a bunch of my choices for this tag though haha
2. Cutie Pie: I've talked about this show in another tag game (as "A show people find bad but you will defend") and all of that still holds true so I won't repeat it here. I'll just add that this show introduced me to Nunew who's my favorite artist these days. :)
3. Love In The Air (Love Storm): Yup! The show that most people on here seem to recall as that extra horny one lol It's one of the first Thai QLs I watched along with as it aired, maybe even the first one. I started watching when episode 2 came out, I think? And I just loved the D/s-dynamic, lovable brat Rain, and these rookie actors so much that I not only went looking for the bts, cast reactions, and interviews but I even started following Twitter translators for the show and cast. This show (and ZeeNunew lol) was basically my introduction to how the Y industry works, what Thai fanclubs are like, and got me well and truly interested in learning Thai. I think I've seen it enough times to speak along by now cause I also used my familiarity with it to study Thai. And now that BossNoeul are finally getting a new show, I'm really looking forward to seeing them in new roles!
4. Not Me: It's simply brilliant. And it's so grounded! You know how lots of tops in Thai QLs are rich, a CEO, drive a supercar, and live in a gorgeous modern home with huge windows (and death stairs lmao)? I love that Not Me starts in a place of privilege but has White leave that behind pretty early on. Bangkok really is a city where you can constantly see the divide between rich and poor. So I appreciate this show even more after having been to Bangkok. Not Me's characters look unfiltered and real and that's how the entire show feels as well. I just love what P'Nuchy has given us here! Oh and +1 for White narrating his entire story, I just kinda love that in general (also enjoyed Kawi narrating Be My Favorite). The next two kinda fall into one category: shows I loved as a kid, remembered - found - rewatched as a teen, and still fondly remember.
5. Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne: This is a magical girl anime that I first would have seen on TV in 2001. In hindsight, this show's religious themes may have influenced me in my love for fictional faith and devotion. Just a thought, haha, totally don't have more than one dnd character who is majorly connected to divinity, faith, and devotion, even though I personally am agnostic...
6. The Weekenders: I routinely cite this as my favorite cartoon (and I watched- just- So Many as a kid omg). Since I watched this on German TV, I only know the German dub which was honestly really fun. If any Germans read this and have seen that show: Wirsing! The rest is movies all the way down!
7. Timeline: A 2003 movie with a bunch of well-known actors that arguably qualifies as a B movie because it flopped so hard at the box office. It's my trash though. I chose it at the video store, brought it home, loved it, and then proceeded to rent it like once a year lol! It's basically a bunch of archeologists and history nerds travelling back in time to the Hundred Years War to save their professor. It has my preferred time travel dynamic of Everything is fixed and whatever traces in time you leave were already there to begin with.
8. Inception: There's several Christopher Nolan movies I love but this one is just so grand and fun and maybe I also had a bit of a crush on Elliott Page back then 👉👈 I'm a born nerd so naturally teen-me used "Non je ne regrette rien" as my alarm for years lmao This category is basically just Disney & co. musicals lol
9. Mulan (1998): If you asked me to choose my favorite from the entire classic Disney musical line-up, it would always be this one. It's the queerest, of course I'd always choose it!
10. Anastasia: You know, I looked at my shelf full of cartoon musicals- no wait, High School Musical and Pitch Perfect are next to them, hm, wELL- at my movie musicals shelf and it came down to choosing between this one and The Swan Princess (1994). And this one just kinda won out because "Once Upon A December" is impeccable! And now I've got it stuck in my head 👍
Since it took me a few days to get back to it, this has clearly made the rounds already. Who to tag?? Uh-- @pharawee @airenyah @telomeke and whoever sees this and wants to do it of course!

i actually need offgun to keep doing bls not just bc i love their chemistry but also bc they are such good actors, like i need them in my queer content... after the masterpiece called not me, i cant see offgun doing any more of those bls that feel very bl (cooking crush seems to be like that but it was just a pilot & they seem to be playing their age) but how cool it would be to keep seeing them in shows w more mature themes & characters like not me, to sir with love, manner of death, history trapped etc those kinda vibes. or they should migrate to cinema. honestly i also would love to watch them in an indie movie. maybe one directed by nuchy!!!!!!!!
yeah the day offgun stops doing queer content is the day my soul will die lmao. I agree with you, the world is their oyster, they should do it all!!! but most importantly I really hope they get to act in the series I'm writing, I'm really manifesting that bc it will truly give fans so much life bc it's so different 🥰
