Wo do you think is the album about, do you think Joe is the bad guy or Matty or none?

i'm gonna be real with you, i didn't expect so many songs to be matty-coded, given we all thought they were an item for, like, a minute but oof.

personally, i think it's nuanced. and i love that! we got personal songs (i can do it with a broken heart), we got some rep-coded stuff (thanK you aIMee, cassandra), we got the media and her fans (who's afraid of little old me), but we also got joe, we got matty, and ultimately, we got travis (and thank god we did, so high school makes me grin like i'm the one in love. it sounds like something i would have danced to in my bedroom in 2009)

Constantly having to reinvent, constantly finding new facets of yourself that people find to be shiny. Be new to us, be young to us, but only in a new way and only in the way we want. And reinvent yourself, but only in a way that we find to be equally comforting but also a challenge for you. Live out a narrative that we find to be interesting enough to entertain us, but not so crazy that it makes us uncomfortable. This is probably one of my last opportunities as an artist to grasp onto that kind of success. I want to work really hard while society is still toleranting me being successful.

during the Super Bowl, while Americans were distracted, Israel launched heavy bombardment on Rafah, where well over 1 million Palestinians are sheltering. Rafah is the furthest south you can go in Gaza, where Israel promised time and time again Palestinians would be safe while they bombed the evacuation routes. there are reports of a ground invasion. they told them to evacuate. there is nowhere for them to go.

right now it is vital that we do not look away. boost everything you see coming out of Gaza. keep an eye on updates from trusted sources and spread them where you can. take breaks if you have to but please. please i am begging you, do not look away.

I’m heartbroken for her. She heard our worry & empathy for what happened and she’s given us the story. 🥺 Gosh, it’s viscerally sad. I hope your is making her feel so much better than when she wrote this. 💜
