Season 4 Ep13 - A Man of Worth

Ian proves a good linguist and his skills keep the gang on the right track.

The Fraser crew rolls up on the area where they believe Roger to be. Creepy stone business at the Mohawk village. They do not like Claire’s skull opal. At. All. While at first it seems they could trade for Roger, the appearance of the skull opal makes everyone clam up.

Murtagh gets to Aunt Jocasta’s house, but her patience is limited

Ghost opal shoe stealing man time traveler backstory

Factionalism in the Mohawk camp aids in and hinders Rogers escape plan. In a tale as old as time, the rebel faction is not big enough. They are all caught and excommunicated. The chief is ready to barter for Roger though. Clearly Roger is not worth even a fraction of this trouble.

They trade dogface Roger for Jamie and Ian negotiates the particulars. Please show, don’t do this to us!

Ian what are you doing? In fact, Ian has offered himself instead of Jamie. Why are they letting Ian do this. I would take one Ian over 29 Rogers. Please show don’t do this to us! Please Mohawks, let Roger try to woo one of your women and you will learn how worthless he is and you will be begging these whiteys to take him away for free.

No, Ian! I’m not ready to say goodbye to you!

Jocasta and Murtagh get feisty. Glad Brianna’s Freud detector is turned off here too.

Jamie lets Roger punch him a few times as recompense for selling him as bloody chattel to the natives. A true testament to Jamie’s generosity, actually.

Of course Ian makes it through the Mohawk gauntlet. Good for him. I would expect nothing less of my baby. He will be accepted as a member of the tribe. Superior to Roger in every way.

This show is going to try to make me like Roger, but I will resist as long as possible

Brianna is giving birth. Where is that ring? Where is John Grey? He is the patron saint of out of wedlock Frasier babies

Jamie and Claire ride up to River Run with the solemn faces of people about to deliver some bad news. Of course Roger is a little shit and doesn’t come. Ugh you traded Ian and all your livestock for this sack of crap.

It’s ok, Brianna. Get John Grey on the phone. If you can channel the open mindedness of the 1970s, you can make this marriage of convenience work. You can organize a lot of threesomes with other men. You can hire a handsome stable hand of each persuasion for your new manor. Just kidding. I know I am not free of Roger so easily.

Oh, he’s going to come now, after breaking her heart. Fuck off, roger.

Preventing Brianna from warning Murtagh about approaching soldiers, too. unforgivable.

False alarm. They aren’t there to search for fugitive Murtagh. It is a letter for Jamie that needs 20 soldiers to courier. Jamie puts on his glasses: “Jamie, your mission if you chose to accept it is to kill Murtagh”it reads.

How about you don’t do that. Just a suggestion.

No other whump blogs will answer me sadge. Do you have any good whump shows where the healing process takes a long time? I feel like everything I read it’s fixed by magic or time jumps.

Hmmmm that is a tricky one. Most of the time your gonna get some kind of time skip whether its a skip to the hospital or the hospital scene is skipped over or the whole recovery process is skipped over. Super annoying but inevitable. Let me see what I can find. We're lucky if we get the whump continued into one other episode. There's gonna be time skips in all of these though. I don't think there's anything out there (that I know of) that doesn't have a time skip at all. Episodes can only be so long ya know?

In 9-1-1 Buck gets crushed by a ladder truck in 2x18 and you see some of his recovery in the same episode. Then in 3x01 he has a pulmonary embolism because of his injury and then he's on blood thinners for several episodes and it's a whole thing for like 4 episodes.

Outlander season 4 (4x10-4x13) has Roger in long term captivity where he's beaten several times.

Kaz in season 2 of Shadow and Bone has the bruises from being beaten up over the course of several episodes.

Tony Dinozzo gets the plague in NCIS 2x22 and in the next episode he's still recovering from it.

Lassiter in Psych has an arm in a sling for several episodes because Timothy Omundson actually did hurt himself. Starts in 2x06 and goes for the next few episodes.

In that same vein Scott Caan got hurt twice while filming Hawaii Five-0 that was written into the show. At the start of the show he uses a cane for a knee injury and then episodes he's got his arm in a sling. You can see it in 8x05, 8x06, 8x08.

Jamie Lannister in Game of Thrones season 2 is held captive for quite a long time and in season 3 he gets his hand chopped off and that whump lasts several episodes

Mike Warren in Graceland has two moments. He's stabbed in season 2 and that lasts for a bit and then shot at the end of season 2 which then lasts well into season 3 and becomes a big problem for him.
