The Outlander 31 Day Challenge: Day 4
Day 4: Favorite Fergus scene
So difficult to choose between young Fergus and adult Fergus here!
I’d have to choose this very short but impactful scene in episode 2x07 “Faith” — Claire has lost the baby, returned home without Jamie, and is at her lowest point. Fergus immediately steps up to comfort her in any way he can; walking her from the carriage, holding her hand, brushing her hair, and simply being there for her. It’s such a tender and sweet moment between those two.
Whether Claire is thinking it in this moment or not, she does have another child who loves her in Fergus. She is his mother now, whom he will love, admire and protect for the rest of his life. This scene, to me, is when Claire truly becomes that for him. And after the loss of Faith, I believe both Claire and Jamie hold Fergus closer than before. It’s a heartbreaking but pivotal scene for these two! I’ve always loved it.

When you experience loss, people say you’ll move through the 5 stages of grief….
Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance
….. What they don’t tell you is that you’ll cycle through them all every day.

Faith + Iseabaìl
“My daughter Faith, she was also lost. And I never held her either. I dinna have an answer. Only at the end of life comes death. And after death, we come home to the Lord. How long the first shall last we canna say. Come. We shall ask my daughter to look for yours in Heaven. I ken she'll find her there.”
