(belated) Halloween costume party!

since orome is obviously the family vala (with aule coming in second) the group costume theme that year was orome. (they do a different vala each year)

yes celegorm does in fact have a horse, yes his horse does actually look somewhat like nahar, and yes he put a rubber horse mask on huan instead.

instead of doing orome + a friend, ambarussa are doing Tall Orome (they did rock paper scissors for who gets to be the head).

aredhel and galadriel show up as orome & vana, but halfway through the party galadriel pops into the bathroom and converts her costume to tulkas:

#silm #silmarillion #celegorm #ambarussa #amrod #amras #aredhel #galadriel #celegorm and his valarcon-award-winning orome cosplay and ambarussas Tall Orome costume were assembled right next to each other #celegorm borrowed the outfit from tilion because Real Orome is like fifteen feet tall and none of his clothes would actually fit #the antlers are a headband he made from hollowed out deer antlers #the arrows are even fletched with the same feathers as orome's #huan just gets a rubber horse mask and fake hooves because finding dog costumes for a dog that big is very hard #ambarussa mostly patched their costume together from stuff they found in various brothers closets #the cape is celegorms #the waistcoat is maglors (obviously)#the skirt is maedhros' because his was the only one tall enough for Tall Orome #the pants were made from maedhros' pants and some extra fabric #and the wig is a bunch of brown and purple yarn glued together #meanwhile aredhel convinced nessa to help her steal some of oromes clothes #fingon helped with the alteration (because aredhel is. not good at sewing anything other than repairing a rough seam)#the rest of it (shirt; pants; boots) was looted from fingolfins wardrobe

oohhh royal knight in training subaru and prince hokke oohhghh

#they have been in my mind can you guess #but like listen #mr akehoshi died in a war led by seiya(king) 10 years ago and now subaru is following the steps of his father #so seiya has a soft spot for him although subaru hates the monarchy for that and onlydoes that bc its the best high income job he can do to #support his mother #also hokke just despises his monarchy duties and one day he is going out of the castle by himself and subaru is like what is this idiot doin #and subaru is like 'Hey you dumbass! where are you going on your own?' and hokke is like 'dont you know who i am? learn some manners before #speaking to me!!' and subaru is like 'of course i know who you are! you are stealing my horse where the hell are you going you clown of a #prince!!!!!!#and hokke ignores him but he actually doesnt know what he is doing so subaru just runs behind him #and after a while hokke gives up and explains that he doesn't want to be a prince so he decided to escape and subaru is like ?? this guy??#and concludes it must be a rebellious phase because he was borned with a silver spoon and just wants to create problems for himself #so he tells him that the life outside the palace is horrible and hokke should appreaciate his life more. everyone would want to be the princ #hokke thinks for a moment and concludes that no. subaru is wrong. and subaru is starting to get annoyed so he sends hokke to the palace #(but in their argument he acutally stole some jewelry of hokke so he sells those to help shinonon the poor guy selling milk and newspaper #and the next day hokke goes to him like 'you stole from me give them back' and subaru is like 'i thought you wouldnt notice. you dont need #them anyway'#and they start arguing again.#chiaki (subaru's knight trainer) sees them and later says to subaru that they seem close #and subaru is like 'no we dont!! he is a selfish jerk who only thinks of himself!' and chiaki thinks he is the only person subaru has gotten #close to #bc hokke doesn't like interacting with guards or maids or anything that has to do with the castle either #so chiaki is like me thinks #so they keep doing sbhk shenanigans and they mutually warm up to each other #at one point hokke brings jewels to subaru personally so he can sell them in the city and sometimes subaru bri #subaru brings hokke to the city in some of their getaways. normal citicens dont know he is the prince just some noble bc of his clothes and #good manners. which subaru doesnt have.#at some point hokke is impressed by subaru's knowledge and he confesses that his father used to steal books from the royal library and then #thought him and his mother and it makes hokke think that they are quite similar #mr hidaka seiya is pretty glad hokke is getting along with subaru since he appreciated mr akehoshi a lot

frightful thought: Noah could be Alice's son from the future.....like I'm just saying, time travel is genetic in this house...and his mom is allegedly a Backstreet Boys super fan? And Alice listens to the Backstreet Boys? Questionable. I'll also say, Casey Goodwin said something about "maybe that's why I'm here," so now I'm a tad paranoid about time traveling teens

#my friend posted on her close friends story about getting a cool perfume for like. absurdly cheap.#and not in like an mlmposting hun bot sorta way! In a like ‘look at my purchase is that not nuts’ kinda way #and I was looking at it and she had the discount code in frame #so I looked it up (it’s like. a legit perfume company and it was their website) and tried the code and it gave the discount #so I messaged her like ‘??? is anyone allowed to use this?’ bc the perfume is like a vanilla gourmand really tasty shit it sounds like #and she was like ‘far as I know yeah’#so I ended up buying it and *with shipping* it was like. fourty bucks? for a perfume that is normally like over a hundred plus shipping #so I’m like. that’s such a good deal there’s no way they could just be doing something that good #but also it was legit it wasn’t like my friend was hacked or hun botting #I went to the website myself and used the code from her blurry ass computer picture and it worked didn’t click no shady links #like everything about it seemed legit! it’s just the price was so good!#so I’m trying to not look a gift horse in the mouth but I’m also worried that maybe the gift horse has soldiers inside it #that want to steal my credit card info #oh well. everything seemed to work so we’ll see how it pans out. I hopefully just have a really nice perfume on the way #god knows if I’ve been scammed you’ll hear about it

so I just finished The Empty Grave and

(overwhelmingly positive, I have so many thoughts, I may have to learn how to draw clothing just for this series, I am going to own it one day)

anyway what should I read next?

no rhyme or reason I don't need something similar if nobody says anything I might start on Dune for the heck of it

#I"ve been reading SO MUCH recently #it's delightful #I'd fallen away from it for awhile #I've read about threee of the murderbot diaries rose daughter percy jackson the little white horse lockwood and co ella enchanted cinder #re-reading the new thrawn trilogy and how to steal a dragon's sword #howl's moving castle castle in the sky the hunger games books the first three books of the queen's thief series the goblin emperor #the hero and the crown the out of time series persuasion #this stretches 'recently' into a decent number of months but still that's more in less than a year than the past two or three years combine #ah it's good to be back #I'm trying a lot of audiobooks too this time around #mostly out of necessity at least at first (it was all the libraries had of some of the books I wanted)#but it has distinct advantages #I can do art at the same time #or minecraft #and the voice acting is often really good #helps add a dimension to the characters that I couldn't have come up with just out of my own head #delightful

#amber rambles #listening to the song Our Word and thinking about Mae #mae growing up with his mom and dad just kinda teaching him to casually lie which he uses to keep the peace in the House of Finwe #and him regretting the three kinslayings and begging screaming and blaming them for it #sacking of Doriath with mae crying and holding a dying Caranthirs hand with curufin and celegorm dead beyond them #cuts to him chasing the twins in the forest and then suddenly hes in front of Elwing #covered in his brothers blood as she sneers and jumps from the window. He reaches out for her #the world blurs and then hes being held back by Maglor as Amrod screams in the boats as they burn #hes still reaching out for his brother and weeping as the music slows down he calms himself down #scars appear on his face and he wipes his eyes he bends down to lift Elrond and Elros onto horses and sending them on their way to Gilgalad #he and Maglor steal the last Silmarils his hand burns and Maedhros looks around until he sees the crack in the earth and the lava #he stumbles almost in a daze to the edge and its like the phantoms of Nerd and Fea are calling him forward. Maglor turns around and screams #Mae keeps walking as Maglor scrambles to reach him despite his pain. his hand closes a breath away from Maes hair as the elder falls #Maglor screams. Eonwe looks on coldly before turning away on the last “their word on its own” meaning Maes story never gets fairly told
