Using the bathroom in general is a human right and should be enshrined as such and I'm not joking. Too many groups of people are denied bathroom breaks or the use of bathrooms entirely--disabled people, blue-collar workers, children, homeless people, prisoners, students, the elderly. I'm surely missing other groups. Not using the bathroom when needed can cause serious, long-term damage, not to mention death. Free, clean, accessible bathrooms should be available everywhere. It's fucking cruel to deny someone the use of the bathroom, regardless of the reasoning. I'd rather every student in the world goof off and every homeless person make a mess and every worker "steal company time" than let one person suffer because they're denied the right to fucking pee in peace.

Anybody want more Phase Shift AU stuff?? Here, have some scribbles about how I think Wendy would look in the 20s and also as an older lady in the 60s.

Wendy was a lumberjill Dipper would see while he was out doing research. His speculations and scribbles about her filled a fair number of pages in his journals but he never had the nerve to talk to her. For her part she knew he was there, decided he wasn’t a threat, and decided to not do anything about it–but she didn’t forget him like the rest of the town did. She was just too chill to get into anybody’s business and didn’t ask questions when Mabel popped up and that strange guy disappeared.

She just didn’t seem like Wendy without that sheet of red hair, so I decided she never bobbed it. She doesn’t even really bother with faux bobs to fit in (save for pinned braids while working), Wendy is so hipster she can make not bobbing her hair in the 20s look counter-culture.

Fast forward to the 60s, Wendy is a single mom and her son Dan works at Mabel’s Mystery Shack when the young twins visit. She still doesn’t give a hang about societal expectations and wears her hair however she wants. She enjoys teasing her hairtrigger son and using 60s teen slang.

Q: Magic Conch, will I ever draw something other than Flapper Mabel for Relativity Falls: Phase Shift?

A: Maybe Someday.

Anyway here’s a page of flapper mabels :’D I went through the 20s tags on @omgthatdress and @fripperiesandfobs for inspiration, adding A Bunch Of Stars Everywhere whenever I felt like it. I felt up for coloring in the hair but not the dresses, haha.

The little snatch of dialogue up in the corner is “Any bulls followin’ us, Grenda?“ “None since the one I decked back there…“ (”Bull” is oldtimey 20s slang for police. What are you gals getting yourselves into…!)

SO LIKE after the finale aired I became a little fixated on the Relativity Falls AU, y’know, where Stan and Ford are the young twins and they stay at Auntie Mabel’s Mystery Shack in Gravity Falls and all that. Soon however I decided to add a new wrinkle: what if we set Relativity Falls during the Stan bros’ actual childhood? It would mean Mabel and her “secret twin brother” Dipper were born somewhere around 1900, which of course logically leads to FLAPPER MABEL. Which is honestly kiiind of the thing I most focus on in my reams of doodles, haha. A friend and I have been shouting ideas at each other for the better part of several weeks, so here’s the basic timeline we came up with.

As usual, I couldn’t resist playing around with the color schemes, haha, I eyedroppered colors from old photos and overlaid them on the official base colors. I decided to have fun and come up with my own designs for elderly!Mabel and Dipper, I made them a little stouter and rounder than some of the other designs I’ve seen around, and I like the less-common idea of Auntie Mabel wearing a turban rather than a fez. (And I know Mabel looks great in a bob but I think to her it represents where she went wrong as much as Stan’s mullet did to him.)
