So I jokingly changed my Love & Deepspace bio to "I would injure myself just to end up in Zayne's Office"... Long story short I ended up in the hospital for an injury lol... I would like to say this doctor was nothing like Dr. Zayne and I was highly dissatisfied with my visit.
.... Oh, and the fact that I now have to get a second opinion because he didn't advise me on ANYTHING. Who the fuck denies someone an MRI because they didn't want their FIRST course of treatment to be GOING UNDER THE KNIFE??

Soooo.... got any headcanons on CinWin's injuries and scars? Or maybe their complications with touch and how that would play into their relationship. The way they come to trust each other and their love languages
can u tell im starving
I will always have HCs for these two because, like you, I have not had a full meal in ages and make do with mental scraps.
This got long
I think that because their self worths are so tied to their physical and fighting egos and pride, any scars or injuries are just the most raw wounds for them. They are incapable for a long time to disconnect themselves from what are essentially their failures because there are now constant reminders forced on them like a brand. Which as they grow older and leave the constant need for combat and forcing themselves to perform these large feats it forces them to come to terms with the of it all. Which ties very well into their connected trust of one another, seeing someone they care about have similar scars and experience similar pains I think would encourage them to start to attach more positive feelings to these wounds. Like Cinder's always going to have a pit in her stomach about Winter's nose scar, she did that, she hurt the person who now she cares so much for--and the first person to care for her that same way as well. Or like how Winter still holds some of her own Atlesian identity accountable for the litany of scars Cinder has, like the collar and arm being first and foremost reminders of how she supported a system which broke people like Cinder to be what they were.
So of course their love languages are evolving with these feelings, they start coming to terms with that instead of emblems of failure these wounds and scars while painful are reminders of what they have conquered. Even more so with how they look at and care for one another, their bodies are just a patchwork of success and failure which the pair of them are just so tied to caring for off the start.
Scar worship is a big thing for them, Cinder loves to run her thumbs and fingers over Winter's battle scars just as much as Winter is more than willing to constantly worship Cinder's painting of injuries. And the other scenes which come to mind are sort of done in Elemental, with Winter needing assistance the first long while without the brace and supports and Cinder is just a begrudging third crutch for a while before she goes through that whole sequence of loving Winter more intimately. Similarly while Cinder is dealing with half of her body being scar tissue essentially, Winter is cradling and holding her--cooling her body down and whispering sweet nothings about that opal she has for an eye.

hi hi hello!! I love your art style, derek and edie look amazing!! please tell me everything about edie!! when did she start liking derek? how did she feel about the marriage pact? what’s her relationship with cove like? what did she do after high school? and any fun facts you wanna share!! :)
a total of One (1) person has asked abt my girl Edie so this means im allowed to go insane crazy. thats the rules soz babes
Tumblr media
more info under the cut !
this is gonna start at step 2 bc thats where it’s more Interesting
during step 2, edie is an INCREDIBLY anxious girl; she got into an accident when she was 10 and became disabled, so she has to walk with crutches or a leg brace which makes her feel very insecure, mostly bc she would rather die than stand out at ALL
bc edie is so insecure she really latches on to basically anyone who gives her any form of attention, so when derek starts looking out for her n making sure she’s included in things, she IMMEDIATELY starts crushing on him. it’s different w cove, bc at first she had a crush on him too but realised it was more of an infatuation, mainly bc he was just someone new and interesting. cove has no idea about this, and she’ll take that secret with her to her grave. she almost hopes that by pushing her emotions down and ignoring them they’ll go away on their own - which obvs, they don’t. because of this insecurity, she finds herself really upset by derek’s marriage pact and denies it outright, mainly because at this point she doesn’t WANT to feel like she’s just an option for him when she’s spent so long being basically as in love as a 13 year old can be.
after she turns 18 during step 3, she’s absolutely MISERABLE. she has no idea what she wants to do with the rest of her life and feels very pressured to follow Liz’s success. she’s drifted away from cove a little bit, but still considers him her friend; however, she does still stay in touch with derek, and he's basically her lifeline at this point bc he magically seems to understand what she’s going through. She does a bunch of crazy shit to her appearance, like getting tons of piercings, getting tattoos, and dyeing her hair, because if everything in her life is out of her control, she can at least control how other people perceive her. she did really well in school, but during her high school years it took more and more effort to keep her grades from slipping.
between steps 3 and 4, she’s resolved to move to an entirely different country to start her whole life over from scratch. she studied law and criminology in England, rents her own place, gets in a few long term relationships, and nearly completely cuts contact with everyone she knew in Sunset Bird. while it worked for a while, she found herself feeling incredibly homesick and miserable. she hated to admit it, but she was lonely. once she graduated, she had no idea what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. she started a career as a clerk at a law office, hated it, and floated between a lot of different jobs while juggling a toxic relationship, loneliness, and post-grad study all at the same time. she decided that enough was enough, and reached out to derek for support; this is FINALLY where things start looking up for our girl.
step 4 happens, she visits derek, and all of her feelings come rushing back all at once and it takes ALL of her effort to not immediately confess her love for him when she first sees him (because she’d just gotten out of her last relationship and didn’t want to rush into anything). but to hell with that, as soon as derek offers to have her live with him, she immediately accepts and they get into a relationship. she feels like she’s spent too much of her life taking things slowly because of her own insecurities, and she’s not gonna let them stand in the way of her happiness anymore. she and derek would get married pretty quickly, and edie really starts coming out of her shell towards the beginning of step 4.
some other fun facts:
her favourite flavour of ice cream is mint chip
her star sign is scorpio
her love languages are acts of service and physical touch
her favourite movie series is lord of the rings
her mbti is ENTJ
she does eventually go on to repair her relationship with liz, though it takes some time
she and cove become closer friends again once she moves back to sunset bird
she sees mr suarez as her father figure
she got a hello kitty tramp stamp when she was drunk once and it’s still her favourite tattoo
she’s a GREAT storyteller
she’s dyed her hair every colour under the sun (her ends feel like STRAW at this point)
she’s a Pro GamerTM
I think career-wise she’d become an academic, as well as a college professor perhaps
thank u for reading this far ily

Summary: Steve and (Y/n)’s son has to wear braces on his legs that Steve knows knocks his confidence a lot. But he decides to surprise Steve after a mission by running properly without them.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
Bruce smiled at the scene in front of him, something that didn't happen very often and that was rather rare in all cases. He was currently in the lab, trying to do his work but his eyes kept diverting to look over to where Tony was. Although it was him he certainly didn't act like the Tony Stark everyone knew and got annoyed with after a while. He was standing in front of the metal table in the lab which his nephew James was sitting on with a bright smile that Bruce never got tired of seeing.
Whenever Tony was around his nephew he seemed like a totally different person and Bruce found it rather endearing to see.
Things between Tony and Steve had always been uneasy, it was like they were always getting off on the wrong foot or they always locked horns over the most silly, trivial of things. But when (Y/n) and Steve had James, it cemented the broken foundations between both men. They would hardly ever argue if James was around and he seemed to calm them both down rather a lot, more than (Y/n) could ever calm down her big brother and her husband.
The little boy had a lot of medical problems, some of which related to the problems Steve had before he got the serum and it broke his heart to see his son grow up each day struggling in the same way he had done. They all knew it wasn't Steve's fault, the serum did run through James like it did him but not enough of it. James had asthma like Steve did but not as bad as his dad which was a relief to them for Steve had a lot of asthma attacks and couldn't even run properly with how bad his breathing got.
James was also a very skinny child, taking after Steve again and it caused him to gain illnesses quicker but they was the only illnesses James had inherited from his dad. What Steve was happier to acknowledge was that James was his double, he had the same ash blond hair, the baby blue eyes and the cheekbones and even the curved nose. He had a lot of personality traits like his mother and smarts from her and Tony combined too. He was a mix of all of them and they all loved it.
Tony had taken it upon himself to be his nephews doctor and consultant, he wanted to help and look after him in any way that he could which is why James and (Y/n) were currently in the lab with them.
James wore braces on his legs to help him walk properly, when he was a toddler he somehow managed to walk with his feet sticking out to the sides and he found it very difficult to walk without support. The braces were to help correct his walk and give his legs that extra support and Tony designed them so they weren't so bad looking and hard to manoeuvre. He made them so they were thin but strong and kept moderating them like he did to his suits to thin them down but make them more efficient at the same time.
"Alright then, I'll just adjust these and your all set little man. Why don't you surprise your dad without them on?" Tony encouraged, seeing James' eyes light up at the idea like he had stars captured in his pupils.
"Can I?" He asked, excitement bubbling in his tone causing his mother to smile. He wasn't used to walking very much without the braces on, he relied on them to make sure he continued to walk properly since he was still growing. The thought of running- or at least trying to run- to Steve and show him he was a big boy able to walk better made his smile widen significantly when his uncle nodded that he would be alright to do that.
"Sure, just not for too long."
"Your dad should be back now, let's go surprise him." (Y/n) pitched in as Tony carefully placed James down to his feet before patting his back.
With a smile, Tony leaned against the table as he and Bruce watched James slowly walk over to (Y/n), managing rather well on his own without the support he was so used to. It wasn't as if they were crutches that he relied on to keep him upright, James could walk without them but it was safer and would aid him better if he wore them every day until a stage where his walking was adapted to normal.
(Y/n) handed his bag to him and he slipped the straps onto his shoulders, he never went far without his backpack designed to look like Steve's shield. He took his mother's hand and they exited the lab in search of Steve, knowing they would be back in a little while for the braces to be fitted again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steve and Natasha walked down the corridor, both rubbing at their damp hair making their contrasting hair colours look a few shades darker than they really were. The pair had just got back from a mission which took three days and still felt like they were covered in dust and grime.
Even spending half an hour in the shower didn't do much to rid the sticky feeling that Steve got from being in his mud covered suit for hours on end.
Both of them stopped outside the elevator, pressing the button to head up to the lounge in the Avengers tower so they could sit down and try to recover before they eventually had to do something or got another mission come through. Some of the avengers lived at Stark tower, but others like Steve, Thor and Clint had their own homes, though they sometimes stayed over when needed.
"Go on honey." (Y/n) whispered to James, kissing his head before pulling back to watch him make a bee-line for his double. James could see his dad and aunt down the corridor waiting for the elevator and he hoped he would catch them before they disappeared to another level of the tower. James knew not to run too fast, (Y/n) had warned him about that because it would strain his legs and he could pull a muscle or fall which wouldn't be very good for him at all.
"Daddy!"
As soon as the all too-familiar voice reached his ears, Steve felt his heart speed up and he turned to his left to search for the occupier of the voice. Steve hadn't been expecting his son to be at the tower today but he certainly hadn't expected his son to be heading towards him with a bright smile and no braces adorning his slim legs.
A bright smile lit up Steve's features at the rather rare sight of James looking happy to be trying his best to speed walk. It was very hard to get James to want to go out with his braces because he felt awkward with them and as if they were holding him back rather then enhancing him. Steve wanted to take a few steps forward and reach him halfway but he stopped when he realised James was determined to make it all the way down the corridor to him instead.
The moment James got within reach, Steve bent down and scooped his boy up in his arms. He spun round whilst holding James tight against his chest in a comforting hug, knowing he had caught James just in time because his foot had skidded on the polished tiles and he would have fallen if he carried on any further.
"Wow there, soldier! What happened to the braces?" Steve asked in shock, standing up to his full height once again with James secured to his shoulder. He felt his heart jumping in his chest when James wrapped his arms around Steve's neck, hugging him as close as possible since he'd missed him whilst he'd been away.
Steve bounced his boy on his hip but when he noticed James was breathing rather deeply he moved his hand and dug around in the backpack on James' shoulders. He pulled out his boy's inhaler, something Steve had had the luxury of forgetting about until James was a toddler and found out he needed one. The little boy took a few deep breaths to calm down before he managed to give Steve a response to his question.
"Uncle Tony's fixing them, I wanted to surprise you." There was a small hint of sadness in his tone because he knew soon enough he was going to have to go back to wear the braces that corrected his walking but slowed him down at the same time.
"Well you certainly did. Do you think you can make it back up to the lab without them?" Steve whispered the last part in James' ear, seeing his son smile brightly and nod in response to the mini-challenge. Steve always tried to push James to keep going and try harder but at the same time, Steve would stop him if he knew his boy wouldn't be able to do it.
When Steve was younger he never had people trying to encourage him to do things, he had to encourage himself and he didn't want that for his son. As much as his mother had tried to make him feel normal and comfortable and okay, she wanted Steve to hold back and play things safe rather than try and test his limits. He knew that James needed someone to will him on and that was exactly what Steve was going to do, he would try and push James within his limits so he would excel.
"Well done little guy." Natasha chipped in with a smile, running a hand through his hair to ruffle the strands which made him smile before she patted Steve's shoulder and headed into the elevator heading.
Steve pressed a kiss to the side of James' head before he set him back down to his feet, walking close beside his boy just in case he slipped or tripped. Steve could see that James was already starting to edge his feet out to the sides automatically like he did when he was running but he was walking overall much better than usual.
When they got to where (Y/n) was patiently waiting for her boys, she kissed James' forehead, wrapping him up in a congratulating hug before letting him head over to the stairs so she could see Steve.
It felt like a lifetime since (Y/n) had felt Steve's arms binding around her waist, seen his charming yet cheeky smile or felt his lips pressing against hers when in reality he had only been gone for three days. (Y/n) always prayed that any missions didn't last very long because she knew that if three days felt like a lifetime, he would barely get through a week or more without Steve.
"Daddy, come on!"
James' voice broke apart the couple's short-lived moment but the lopsided smile on Steve's face made (Y/n)'s heart skip a beat and told her they would carry this on later. The couple started to ascend up the stairs after their son who was bouncing up the steps like he was a spring or a little excited puppy.
(Y/n) leaned her head on Steve's shoulder as they both watched James, but when they got close to the lab Steve noticed James was slowing down. He was clearly getting tired and he was starting to kick his feet out to the sides, his legs becoming uncoordinated because he didn't have the energy to correct himself.
"Alright super-soldier, come here." Steve wrapped his free arm that wasn't placed around (Y/n)'s waist, around James' front and gently picked him up so he could settle him on his hip to rest his legs.
"Uncle Tony I surprised daddy! And walked up the stairs too!"
James' voice became slightly higher in pitch from his excitement when the three of them entered the lab and his words caused Tony's lips to curve into a smug smile. He knew it would raise his nephew's spirit to try and walk without his braces and impressing Steve would only further elate James' mood.
"See, you won't be needing these for much longer I'm sure. So I've changed the design a little, and the colour scheme is just as his lordship asked. Come on little man."
Steve pulled away from (Y/n) so he could walk over and settle James down on the table. He watched intently as Tony crouched down in front of his nephew and slotted the braces into James' shoes before strapping them just below his knees to keep the metal bars in place around his skinny legs. It didn't escape Steve's attention when the smile James previously had on his lips dampened when the braces were put on his legs. But when he noticed the small Captain America shields at the bottom of the braces, a breathless giggle left his lips.
"Thank you uncle Tony."
"Your welcome." Tony ruffled his hair before he made his way over to Bruce so they could carry on working on their new piece of technology.
Steve shook his head with a playful smile when James looked over at him and held his arms out, clearly wanting to be picked up. Whenever Steve had been away even for just a little while James became clingy wanting to be wherever Steve was and he loved it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Are you ready to head home?" Steve questioned the little boy in his arms who he knew was rather tired. James nodded tiredly in response, slipping his bag back on his shoulders when Steve handed it to him. Natasha had stolen (Y/n) for a while wanting to catch up and chat and she said she would meet the boys back at their home when she was finished chatting with Natasha.
Steve gently placed James down to his feet and got up himself, putting his leather jacket on before taking James' hand and attempting to leave the room but he stopped when he realised his son wasn't walking with him. He cocked his head to the side, his baby blue eyes pooling with love and confusion as he waited patiently for James to tell him what was wrong.
But Steve found his face falling when James simply held his arms out to him; he wanted to be carried.
"What's wrong soldier?" Steve went down on his knees so he could be level with his boy who was clearly upset with tears glistening in his eyes which made Steve feel panicked.
"I don't want these." James responded quietly, tapping at the braces on his legs making Steve sigh sadly. He took a deep breath before he looked at James with a gentle expression, trying to think how to make him feel better about it but he didn't know what to say to make this better.
"I know you don't, but they're not forever buddy. If you don't have them you'll hurt your legs and your back too." He tried to keep his tone gentle and understanding and James nodded his head but his expression didn't change. He didn't want to walk around wearing braces that slowed him down and made it feel weird when he walked, They annoyed him and made him feel abnormal, not to mention the way people looked at him when he went out.
"I don't like them daddy."
"Buddy, if you wear them then you can train with me more when your walking better. You wanted to join me didn't you?" A small smile tugged at James' lips as he looked down at his feet and nodded in response. He went to the gym with Steve from time to time but didn't do much, he mainly watched him most of the time although Steve encouraged him to do small weights and he helped him with other activities there. It made James happy and boosted his confidence a little so Steve kept bringing him along.
"But I... um..."
"What is it?" Steve asked, a smile on his features encouraging him to talk and say what was on his mind.
"I want to be like you."
Closing his eyes Steve sighed, that was not what he expected to hear and it broke his heart. Truthfully he didn't know if James could ever be like him with the medical issues he had. James might get better as he grew older, his asthma might subside, he was most likely going to walk fine when he was in his teens and no longer had the braces. And if he put on a bit more weight he might be less vulnerable to illnesses, but Steve didn't know if he was ever going to be like him in a physical stance.
But then again, Steve always thought he himself would always be the short skinny kid who spent half his life in a hospital or laid in bed with a cold and yet here he was now.
"What colour are your eyes?" Steve's rather off-topic question caught James by surprise and he looked very confused before he answered as if he thought it was a trick question.
"Blue."
"Just like mine, and what colour is your hair?"
"Blond."
"Correct, and you've got my nose too; you look exactly like me. You have a shield on your back and your a good little soldier, your kind, funny and I know your smart. You're already like me, you're my little doppelganger and I love that about you, but you don't have to act like me or walk and talk like me. You are amazing and perfect as yourself. My little soldier."
Steve didn't want James to grow up and think he had to act just like Steve or even want to act like him, he wanted James to be his own person. He thought it was sweet and rather endearing that his son- his first child, looked the spitting image of himself, Steve loved that. It was like he was looking in a mirror that showed him his younger self. But he wanted James to grow up and form his own person and his own mind, he came to the gym with Steve because he wanted to try and train but Steve didn't want him to think he had to be just like him.
With a soft smile, Steve reached out and wrapped his arms around James, holding him to his chest in a tight, comforting hug before he got to his feet, ready to get them both home.
In My Sights II
Tumblr media
Masterlist | One
Pairing: Ivar/Reader
Word Count: 1885
Warning: Schmut, this part literally starts off with a bang.
Summary: Certain obligations call you back home.
Author’s Note: So much for this being a one shot.
Your hand grabbed the headboard tightly, holding on for leverage as you slammed yourself down onto Ivar over and over again. You bit down hard on your lip when you felt that sweet release slowly creeping up on you again. Trying so hard to hold back your desperate moans, you refused to let him know how badly you were falling apart. But when you felt his thumb start to circle around your clit, you were unable to stop yourself from crying out his name.
He wrapped his hand around the back of your neck, pulling you down to him. “Say it again, say my name again,” he whispered harshly into your ear as his thumb moved faster.
Your head was so cloudy from the pleasure that you found yourself willing to follow his order and repeated the cries of his name. He kissed you deeply while his hand tightened around the sides of your neck. You felt the spasms taking over your body as you became lightheaded.
Digging his head back into the pillow, Ivar groaned out loud as he came inside you after feeling your pussy clench around him. Your senses felt overloaded when he loosened his hold on you, the rush of air you were finally able to take in seemed overwhelming. You continued grinding your hips slowly against his while you both rode the aftershock of your orgasms.
You collapsed onto his chest in a sweaty mess of loose limbs. A part of you was surprised he lasted as long as he did. It seemed like he was determined to make up for all the lost time and make sure you didn’t forget him if you decided to make yourself scarce once again.
“Stay with me for once. It’s the least you could do,” he insisted, pulling you back to him when you tried to get out of bed. It was the same thing every time you two got together, he’d beg you to stay and you’d have an internal struggle while you told him no.
Feeling his arm wrap around your back, you laid your head against his chest. “Because I stole your kill?,” you guessed.
“Because you said no,” Ivar lamented softly. Taking your left hand in his own, he gently caressed your empty ring finger. “I still have the ring if you changed your mind.”
You were foolish to think he wouldn’t bring up the elephant in the room.
This is why you stayed away for so long. You knew if you kept showing up in his life that he would slowly try to wear down your resolve. At least he didn’t have the ring with him this time. It was hard enough just saying no to his hopeful face at the time and even harder saying no to the beautiful ruby stone surrounded by a diamond halo.
“Ivar, you hardly know me.” It was the same response you gave him the last time.
Other than your addiction to labels, luxury, and murder, he only knew of a few small facts you deemed safe enough for him to know. None of which you thought would cause a man to spend at least six figures on the perfect piece of jewelry for you.
“Well if you marry me, then I can spend the rest of my life getting to know you,” he contended as he interlaced his fingers with yours.
“How about we just enjoy the next few hours?” You were grateful that you were looking away from him. You didn’t think you could take seeing the disappointment that you were sure was on his face.
Ivar only hummed in response. You knew this wasn’t going to be the last you would hear of this though it seemed like he was conceding for the night. The truth was that you wanted to be his wife, you wanted to wake up every morning in his arms. But you weren’t naive. You knew that the only happy ending women like you get is one where you don’t end up with a bullet in your head.
You closed your eyes and allowed yourself to be lulled by the sound of his heartbeat.
It was a faint buzzing sound that stirred you from your slumber. After a few moments of trying to wake up, you realized it was all coming from your phone. You looked down at Ivar and was thankful that he was still deeply asleep. Carefully slipping away from his hold and out of bed, you grabbed your phone before going to the bathroom for privacy.
You tried to hold back your disgust as you evaluated the room. You couldn’t understand why he would lower himself to such grimy accommodations when he had more than enough money to buy a whole luxury hotel if he wanted to. Shaking your head, you started going through your phone.
You had two missed calls from the same contact. There was no name saved under it, only a single emoji of a cross. Your finger hovered over the screen as you dreaded having to return the call. You knew the voice on the other end would be displeased over being ignored. A single message popped up just when you were about to hit call.
You are due for a confession.
Kind of early for that, ain’t it, Padre?
Do not call me that and you are due whenever I say you are due.
Fine, I’ll be there as soon as I can.
Good. I will have a plane waiting for you at the airport.
That was not good. If he knew where you were, then it was very likely he knew what you were up to. Cracking open the door, you peeked to make sure Ivar was still sleeping. So much for staying till morning.
You quickly freshened yourself up, taking care to wipe the mascara and lipstick smudges from your face, before stepping out and quietly putting your clothes back on. Gathering his clothes, braces, and crutch, you set the items by the bed so he had easy access to them.
You didn’t take a chance on kissing his goodbye, fearful that he would wake and give you too many valid reasons to stay. Hopefully, your parting gift would ease his frustration when he woke up alone.
——
You said you would be there as soon as you can but that was a lie. After your long flight back to Wessex, you decided to take a much needed soak in the bath. It was just before midnight when you texted that you were finally on your way.
Though you never missed an opportunity to get dressed up, you knew walking into the church wearing a high-end dress and a pair of pumps at this time of night could possibly draw some unwanted attention. Instead you were dressed in a well-worn University of Wessex hoodie and plain jeans. To the few people currently occupying the pews, you were just a normal college student looking for some spiritual guidance.
You entered the confessional booth and knelt down on the step, clasping your hands in prayer. “Bless me, father, for I have sinned. It has been three weeks, twelve hours, and six minutes since my last confession.”
You wondered if you had the wrong booth when all you got was silence. Usually the exchange was simple, you would say the code—twelve hours and six minutes—and then the priest passed along a memory stick containing your next assignment. The remainder of the time was spent with listing your unabsolved sins.
“Hello? Is this thing on?,” You jested, giving a few raps on the partition. When it did finally open up, you could tell it was him even though the screen obstructed most of his face. “Damn,” you softly whispered.
Heahmund stared down at you, slowly exhaling as if trying to control his annoyance. “Hello, Sister Mary Julian. I am glad you could finally join me.”
The Bishop was very careful to limit his interactions with you which you took no offense to. The rare times he made an appearance was either to make a very special request or to lecture you over your work. “So, this assignment must be a juicy one if you’re personally delivering it to me,” you hoped.
“I think we both know that there is no new assignment. I had been informed that you have been away for the past few days.” It looked like you were in for a reprimand tonight. Raising his brow at you, he continued, “Tell me, Sister, what was the purpose of your trip? And I think it is in your best interest if you do not lie to me.”
“Pleasure, mainly.” Technically, not a lie. The only reason you took the job was to see Ivar again. “Just needed a bit of R&R.”
“I found it very interesting that the son of a well known diplomat was also there getting some ‘R&R’. A diplomat who is a very generous friend of the church.”
“That is interesting.”
“And even more so that his son unfortunately died due to a severe allergic reaction.”
“Should have avoided the shellfish.”
“I did not get to that part yet.”
“Damn.”
Heahmund pinched the bridge of his nose while he roughly sighed. “While your creativity in your work does amuse me, I thought we agreed that you would not take a contract on your own. Remember I handle the clients and I pick your assignments. All for your safety. Or do I need to remind you why?”
“No.” Your hand instinctively went to scarred skin below your ribs, remembering when you first met him. You were a bloody mess, passed out at his feet after being betrayed by a client. But that was a few years ago and you felt a few years wiser now.
“Do not go behind my back again,” he warned. “Your set of skills have proved useful to me and to the church and I ensure that you are well compensated for it. We would both hate it if I had to cut ties with you now.”
Rising up from the step and brushing the dust off your knees, you were happy there was no mention of what or who else you were doing while away. Heahmund was willing to overlook the sinful acts you had to commit for work purposes but, as a bride of Christ, any personal intimate relationship was nonnegotiable especially one with a man whose family was considered an enemy of the church.
“I have not excused you. I told you that you were due for a confession.”
You didn’t care if he saw you roll your eyes as you kneeled back down. You made quick work running down the list of sins you committed since the last time you were in the booth. Murder? Check. Grinding against a married man? Check. Not dressing modestly? Check. Obsessed with material possessions? Always.
Still Heahmund held back on giving you your penance. “Anything else you might be missing?”
Your mind shifted to the image of Ivar looking up at you from his position between your thighs, his tongue flat against your clit while his hands pinned yours down on the bed. You felt yourself getting wet just from the memory alone. “No, nothing I can think of, Bishop.”
Fire Escape - Grayson Dolan
Summary: Firefighter Dolan’s first rescue turns into something that blushes to be more.
Word count: 2.8K
A/n: Hey!! this is something i quickly(?) made after obsessing over the series 911 hehe let me know if u like it or if youve got some constructive criticism because i’d definitely love to improve my writing :) It would be lovely if you dropped by some asks or something but im not expecting much because im new to this whole writing scene,, enjoy!
Each puff of air she takes in burns the back of her throat like a strong shot of alcohol, it constricts her chest with needles and blocks out the feeling of heat radiating from the fire that licks at her skin feverishly. She barely manages to drag her limp body on one foot through the red filter of the room that stings her eyes and blurs it with tears. She hears the faint rumbles on the other side of the door and tries to scream out another help but fails miserably with a hand to her throat in hopes of stopping the dryness, it felt like the inside of her throat had been scraped against concrete. The door knob twists and the wooden door shakes, she’s got hope. She reaches her hand out but her vision blurs. The thin door slams open right as she feels her knees give out.
“I’ve got you!” the man yells as he grips her forearms, his grip softening when she hisses and he sees the uncontrollable hot tears running down her cheeks. She rests her head on his warm black uniform once the surroundings start to blur and the intoxicating smell of chemicals take over her senses, feeling as if the back of her brain was being compressed as it pulses. “Stay with me-“ he waits for her name.
“Y/n,” she barely manages a whisper.
“Stay with me Y/n!” he shouts over the crips sound of the dancing flames.
“C-can’t,” she mumbles.
“Yes you can, you’re strong! You can, come on Y/n!” he encourages as he carries her body through the burning building. The lasts of his words fuse with the white noise of the walkie talkie on his chest that she stares at. Everything blurs. The dark ring around her vision closes in and she feels herself losing a grip on reality with every second that passes by. “NO! Y/N!” was the last thing she hears and the grumble in his chest becomes the last thing she feels before it all turns dark.
She feels her body laid flat on the synthetic material, Y/n only manages to squint her brows together when the sting against the backside of her skin rushes through her in an instant. She silently thanks god when she manages to lift her heavy eye lids. A tall burly man stands with a burning building behind him in her view, his helmet and jacket long gone, a concerned look on his strong features as he joins the paramedics leading her to the ambulance. Dolan his badge reads.
He leans in closer when he sees her visibly struggle to part her dry lips. “I’m going to be fine, right?” she rasps. He nods vigorously with wide glistening eyes that makes her wonder if he himself even trusts his own answer, but a part of her feels reassured. Y/n keeps her eyes on him when he’s stopped in his tracks with a hand to his shoulder by another firefighter. His head turns to the man talking to him but his eyes stay trained on hers. By every second he’s getting further and further away from her and she starts to worry over who would be there for her if not the man who had just saved her. She tries to lift her head to get a better view once he shrinks smaller in her field of vision but the women pushing her stretcher to her right assures her things will be fine and ushers her to lie flat back down, she does. She’s drifting off again, lungs still stinging, she promises to herself she won’t forget his name, Dolan.
It was bright even with Y/n’s eyes closed, the sound of machines beeping and murmurs somewhere distant forces her curious side to peel her eyes open. She looks around the room as much as the nose tube limiting her head movement could allow. The nurse walking past stops in her tracks with a surprised look to her face, she pulls the curtains back before rushing to Y/n. Asking for her name and age and all the things that make her head spin. She feels as if her mind is wobbling in her skull when she passively answers their questions, letting them do whatever they want with her.
It feels as if she’s stared at the rings the curtains hang on for almost five hours before a face she actually recognises shows up.
“Y/n!” her mother whispers a shout with tears in her eyes as she makes way to Y/n. She hasn’t seen them in a while and it feels odd, she’s even more surprised to see half of her always busy father standing on the other side of the curtain listening to what the doctors and nurses were explaining to him. Her mother is touching her all over her bandages and it stings but she’s too drowsy to tell her. “Your dad and I are so worried about you,” she cried and Y/n felt pity over her mother. The girl laying in a hospital bed with bandages wrapped around some of her limbs and a tube coming out her nose felt pity seeing her mother finally cry over her. “We’ll go back to Florida, okay baby? We’ll take care of you-“
Y/n’s mind thinks of Florida. How warm and humid it always is, much like California but she won’t have her freedom there. “I’m staying here,” she states. Bracing herself for the argument she knows is coming.
“Y/n? Look at yourself, honey. You’re bedridden and you’ll need someone to be there for your medication-“
“I have a job and students to teach here, mom,” Y/n fights back a losing battle.
“You won’t even be able to drive to their places, not with that leg.”
“I’ll be fine!-“
“You said that when you left your dad and I and now look who barely managed out a burned building!” Her mother huffs out the quick words. She sees the patient and his family from the bed diagonal to hers stare at her mom like her father and nurses are and she’s embarrassed so she looks away to her right. The uncomfortable feeling vaporises off her skin when her cheeks tinted at the side table, forgetting all the eyes on her.
“Then, just give me a week here before we go,” she bargains after reading the note that stuck out the bouquet of light blue and lilac flowers.
“Fine,” her mother agrees. For a second Y/n forgets she’s in a bed with a needle in her wrist and plastic through her nose, that her parents are acting like everything is fine after cutting ties with her for two months, she forgets she’s got burns on her body and she won’t be able to carry her own weight when she reads the note written in chicken scratch, Get well soon :) - Dolan, Station 127
A day before she leaves Los Angeles, Y/n and her mother sit uncomfortably in her car. Her mother’s eyes are trained on the road and in her mind she’s checking off the list of things she’s packed from her apartment to calm her nerves. The label ‘Fire Department’ falls into view and the words underneath get easier to read as they move closer, Station 127, it reads.
When she moves out the car, Y/n makes sure not to put pressure on her right foot that’s wrapped in bandages her mother has neatly done for her. She rejects her mother’s offer to help her out and struggles to pull the crutches out the back seat. Y/n chuckles at the reflection of herself in the passenger seat’s tinted window. Finding it ridiculous how she wears a long black floral dress with her hair and makeup all done but she limps around with only one converse on and arms occupied with thin, long crutches. But the view of herself in the window fades when her mother leans towards her with a thumbs up and a big encouraging smile, much like how she used to look at Y/n during her swimming lessons.
She sighs and turns away, trying hard not to roll her eyes. Y/n prepares herself for the embarrassment of asking around for a Dolan, that is if anyone even comes to assist her. She nods the stuffed doll in her hands, imagining it cheering her on before she chuckles at how stupid she’s acting. Y/n slowly hobbles on the crutches, making her way to the open station that has light passing through it in every which way, giving full view of her state for all curious firefighters to see. She sees a man by the front bumper of the firetruck wiping it shiny and she thinks he looks approachable with his blue eyes and styled brown hair, shimmying his body to the song playing in his head.
“Excuse me,” she repeats after he doesn’t hear the first time through his humming.
“Yeah?” he turns to look at her and tosses the cloth down by the bucket. Y/n feels so out of place with all the buff men and women she sees walking around the top floor when she’s standing there in a dress looking for the man who saved her.
“Is there... Dolan- here?” she asks so hesitantly, already thinking of what to say if he wasn’t here.
“Y/n?” someone says from her side, she whips her head and there he stands. In his uniform that hugs his arms and chest so nicely with his brunette locks pushed back and a bit of facial hair grown. He can’t be that much older than her right? He shuts his jaw and shakes his head at how inconsiderate he was being when she tries to move forward with difficulty, he takes big strides so as to near her.
“Hi,” he grins, finally in front of the pretty lady with long wavy black hair he couldn’t stop thinking about.
“Hey,” she replies with a tight-lipped smile.
It gets a bit awkward when he doesn’t say anything and instead looks her up and down, noting the bandage that ran up her right foot to parts under her dress he couldn’t see and the one wrapped on her left shoulder that peeks out the collar of her dress. Although she feels bold about it, she gnaws on her bottom lip when his eyes follow the doll that she lifts in between them.
“For saving me,” she reasons with a faint smile and pink cheeks. He’s beaming with bright eyes, excitedly reaching for the Squirtle doll.
“I- I’m glad you’re okay,” he guides her to the benches by the locker room, a hand on her lower back that feels too good for her to flinch away from even if it feels like her skin is bitten on. They settle down after he moves her crutches beside him for her. He speaks up again, “H-how are you?”
“Good. Just a couple second degree burns and an irritated pair of lungs. Nothing too bad that some medicine can’t help, thankfully,” she says it so nonchalantly and it amazes him.
“That’s.. that’s really good to know,” he smiles at himself as he takes in how she looks staring at her foot. While she’s busy with following the path the bandages take, he looks for more things to say, “I’m sorry about your apartment.”
She jumps a bit in her seat with her brows raised at the assumption, “Oh- it’s not mine! I was just watching over for a friend..” she explains. The way she’s looking at him with a wide smile and rosy cheeks is making his palms sweaty.
“Good... to hear?” he says with a confused face, wondering if it were appropriate to say her friend’s loss was something he was glad about, but she laughs and he thinks he’s safe. How awkward and jittery he was being slightly calmed Y/n down, knowing this is just as nerve-wracking for her as it was for him. She wonders if laughing was appropriate and her thoughts scold herself.
“You always send flowers to the people you save, Dolan?” she asks. A teasing look on her face that has him shifting in his seat because he thought she looked adorably mesmerising.
“No! You-you’re my first actually,” he replied before fixing his own sentence, “the first person I saved.” He tells her while playing with the soft doll that was just as big as his large hand, trying to suppress his shyness. It surprised her. He was such a hefty guy she would have thought he had years of experience. It’s giving her butterflies that this big and tough guy sitting on a bench beside her was so nervous, tripping over his own words and toying with a small Squirtle doll she gave him.
“I’m honoured,” she chuckles. “Thanks for being my hero,” she cringes at herself but it seems to have made his smile stretch wider and eyebrows raise higher, so even if she had a chance to she would’t take it back.
“Yeah?” he asks just so he gets to hear her say it again.
She opens her mouth to speak and ask more about him but the alarms in the station go off and people rush into the locker room. Grayson’s eyes widen, he holds her forearms and gently pulls her to stand before passing the crutches to her. She’s turned red when he remembers to pick up the Squirtle. “Hang on,” he says to her. She watches him cluelessly, watches him open his locker and shift his arms into the jacket he saved her in. His surname sewed in bright yellow on the back of it.
“Dolan,” she whispers just to feel the way her tongue curls saying it.
She laughs at watching him balance the doll in his locker before closing it’s door shut. He’s geared up and jogging to her as the rest of the firemen pack into the firetruck. “Y/n,” he rushes his words. “Will you go on a date with me?” Maybe he was rushing things, but he’s waited a two weeks to see her again since he saved her. And their sweet awkward moment was ruined by the alarm so he’s not taking risks in missing his chance with her if he’ll ever even get another one, he’s justified to himself that asking her out right now as the scene around them rushes is the right thing to do. Yes he wears his heart on his sleeves and it’s gotten him in places he hopes not to experience again, but he’s sure everything is falling into place when it starts to feel like it’s just the two of them smiling at each other with crimson coloured cheeks even as people rush around them.
“Of course,” she beams and he feels giddy under the heavy uniform.
“Let’s go, Grayson!” The blue-eyed guy she approached before calls for him. Grayson. That’s his name. She’s said yes to a date before even knowing his name. God she’s gone crazy.
“Save some lives, Grayson,” she smiled. He stops his jog to the truck midway, turning to look at her standing and looking so small and fragile. He takes in the way his name sounds when she says it. He likes it.
Grayson looks to her a final time from inside the truck with a promise of, “I will, Y/n,” and a wink before he speeds into the firetruck and the door slides shut.
Y/n rests her weight on her good foot as she watches the truck race off with a cheesy smile on her face. She twitches in her stand when she realises that she’s going on a date with a handsome fireman she hasn’t even spent an hour talking to. How could she possibly find something to wear when her apartment’s all packed up and she’s leaving Los Angeles tomorrow? Is there even time left for a date? The thoughts bum her and she winces after accidentally balancing weight on both feet. She hopes no one saw. In the firetruck, Grayson smacks his hands to his face when the giddiness of planning a date fades and he realises they don’t have each other’s numbers, but she could just visit the next time... right? He hopes so.
Grayson wonders if something like fate were true, would it bring them both together again?
Her car honks and Y/n mumbles a curse from how embarrassing her mother is. She gives a final smile to the firefighters left upstairs who peer down at her from the balcony and give a wave back. She doesn’t hear it when she wobbles back to her mother in the car, but the firefighters upstairs giggle and mumble over how the lady Grayson’s been talking about has finally showed up and cured the pout and sadness off of the big guy, maybe he’ll be less aggressive with the punching bag now.
After tossing the crutches in the back and facing forward with a heavy sigh. She tells her mother to back out and drive home. Her mother sits shaky in her seat and exclaims joyfully, “I took some photos of you two!”
“Oh whatever, mom,” Y/n exhales with warm cheeks, fighting a smile that her mother stares at while she glances at the fire department through the side mirrors of her car. Thoughts full of Firefighter Grayson Dolan from station 127.
Chapter 4
The table at Clementin im Glashaus was amazing. The greenhouse windows of the restaurant overlooked the beautiful Palais Coburg Hotel, which used to be a palace belonging to the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Not to mention, Cash and Ivar had a completely unobstructed view of the sun setting over the city, from the domed glass ceiling of the restaurant. She felt like a princess. Had she known they were coming here, she would have worn something a bit more elegant than the Fashionova dress she was currently wearing.
“Stilles Wasser, mit Eis, bitte?” Mineral water with ice, please. She asked the waiter just before he left the table. She was trying her best to let him be chivalric and order their meals after they had discussed the menu. But he had forgotten about the water. She didn’t like sparking water, let alone it at room temperature. She had to say something. She couldn’t tell if she was being an obnoxious American, or not. Especially since men from Europe were so different from American men. They were slinky and sensitive. They wore skinny pants that showed off their ankles and shorts that came above their knee and kissed each other on the cheek. It was a different dynamic with them. She wasn’t trying to cross any cultural or gender roles by ordering ice water.
Shit, ice. He’d forgotten. That was so important…how could he let that slip? She was American - of course she liked ice.  That should have been a given. He had just assumed that she didn’t even drink water. Americans just filled their cups to the brim with ice cubes and poured soda over it.  Ivar mentally kicked himself for the oversight. “I have never met an American that spoke German with an Austrian accent.” He remembered that she had minored in German in college and Graduate school, but to hear her speak it, with an Austrian accent was rather impressive. Too bad she hadn’t decided to study Norweigan. “I have also never tried ice in my water," he said trying to make small talk.
“Really?” Cash blushed and tugged on the loose thread at hem of her dress, “It’s good. Cold.”
Why were they having such a hard time talking? They normally would talk for hours on the phone and their text and DM threads went on for days. The two of them never ran out of things to say to one another. She could think of a hundred things she wanted to say to him right now, but he seemed so much quieter in person. She kept waiting for one of his snappy comebacks, or for him to flirt with her like he always did, but he was giving her nothing. Maybe he didn’t like her after all.
“So, have you been here before?” She asked looking around the restaurant. It was easier to look anywhere than at him because all she wanted to do was stare at him. She had never been a fan of the man bun before, but it worked for him. Everything looked good on him. If she didn’t keep diverting her eyes, she would look like a total stalker. “This place is nice.”
Ivar put his napkin in his lap and hoped that the wine wouldn’t take much longer to get to the table. If he didn’t get a drink soon, he was going to clam up completely. He wanted to talk to her. He loved talking to her. He was just so nervous now that she was in front of him and she was so vibrant, pretty…real. “To Vienna or this restaurant?”
“Either,” Cash answered with a shrug.
“I have only been to Austria a few times. Mostly with my brothers.” Brothers. Right. He was going to have to explain Hvitserk… “I have never been here before. My brother, Ubbe, told me this is a good place to take a date.”
Was he blushing? God, he was cute. “Oh, this is our first date?” She licked her lips and smiled.
“Am I not doing something you want?” Fuck. Had been out of the dating game that long? Why didn’t she know this was their first date?
“No. Everything’s perfect. I just didn’t know if we were hanging out as friends, or on a date.” She took a big sip of her water. “We said we wouldn’t talk about our pictures, so there was no pressure, either way.”
“I already told you, I thought you were beautiful before I saw your picture.” Ivar had never been so happy to see a waiter in his life. He graciously accepted the glass of wine and motioned for the waiter to leave the bottle.  He waited until Cash had her mixed drink placed before her and when they both had drinks they toasted. “Skol,” he said quickly before looking into the bottom of his glass, as he gulped nervously.
“So…” Her phone rang, causing her to jump. She quickly hit the video button and rolled her eyes. “Hey, Ma.” She smiled when Ivar smiled at her.
“Shay, are you okay? I been waiting for you to call me.” Barbara pursed her lips at her daughter to indicate she was upset. “You tell me you’re going to meet this Ivar-boy and then I don’t hear from you. I don’t know if he chopped you up, or sold you on the black market…”
Cash shook her head and threw her napkin ring at him when he chuckled at the comment. “I’m fine, Ma. In fact, Ivar and I are at dinner, right now.” She panned over for her mother to see Ivar.
She felt all warm inside when Ivar waved at her mother and politely said, “Hello, momma.”
“Well, hey there baby. It's good to finally see you. Were you excited to meet see Shay? She's so pretty, isn't she?" Cash rested her head on hand as she watched Ivar's face light up, as her mother refused to let him get a word in edgewise. As usual, Ivar and her mother sat there talking like two old friends.  "And look at you...you're so handsome. I bet you just have all the girls all after you. You better not break my baby's heart. You take care of my girl while she's over there, okay?"
Ivar thought Cash's mom was a hoot. He had always enjoyed hearing about her and talking to her when Cash was in the States. Looking at her face, it was easy to see where Cash got her looks. "Cash is as beautiful as her momma. When I saw her, I just want to keep smiling." He glanced over at Cash and noticed the coy way she looked at him causing him to divert his eyes back to the phone's screen. "I promise, I will take care of her." He handed the phone back to Cash and poured more wine in his glass.
"Make sure to call me later.” Barbara Heath said to her daughter when her face reappeared on the screen. She held the phone close to her mouth and dramatically mouthed the words, He’s cute. “Love you, Shay.”
“Love you, too.” She disconnected the call and looked at Ivar. “Sorry about that. My mom’s a little over-protective.”
“Your momma is sweet. My brothers? They are a pain." He rolled his eyes, "My older brother, Ubbe, sent my brother, Hvitserk, here to be my chaperone.” He shook his head in disbelief. “I have almost 26 years, I do not need a babysitter.”
“Why did he do that?”
The second glass of wine he had just started on was finished in about two gulps. Ivar knew he was drinking too fast, but it made him feel better about talking, but it did nothing to stop his hands from sweating. All he needed to do was deflect the conversation away from his legs, Hvitserk and everything else wrong in the world for tonight. He could worry about the truth tomorrow. “I always wanted to ask. Why does your momma call you Shay?”
“Oh, that. My first name is Cachet.” She made a disgusted face at the sound of her government name. “Most people call me Cash. My parents still call me Shay.”
“Which do you prefer?” Cash shrugged, giving no real thought to question. “What would you like me to call you?”
She lifted her eyes to him with a heavy-lidded stare. “What do you want to call me?” She was hoping it was be something freaky, like Chocolatate, or Sexual Chocolate…what exactly was in this drink, anyway?
“Nydelig.”
"And what does that mean?”
Ivar’s lips turned up into a boyish grin, “Look it up,” he said as the waiter sat their dinner plates in front of them.
It was a beautiful night and the city lights were magical. After dinner, Cash and Ivar stopped for torte at a local bakery and to pick up spirits before Cash decided that she was ready to head back to her hotel. She would see Vienna tomorrow; it was almost 8 pm and she was exhausted. A day of nerves, traveling, and now jetlag meant she was going to sleep good tonight.
Ivar had insisted that he see her back to her hotel safely and who was she to refuse? The walk from the restaurant to her hotel had been a short one and she had invited him in because though she was tired, she wasn't quite ready for their first date to end.
Sitting on the patio of her ground-floor hotel room, she folded her legs on her chair and sipped on a glass of Moscato d’Asti they picked up along their walk. “So, we’ve been talking for months and in all this time, you never said anything.” She twirled the liquid around in her glass. “Why didn’t you ever tell me?” She wanted to bring it up earlier, but before didn't seem like the right time. But now they both seemed a bit more relaxed and the conversation felt more organic. It felt like one of their normal conversations, not like two strangers meeting each other for the first time.
Ivar’s heart stopped in his throat. Did he really think he could avoid the pink elephant in the room? Did he honestly believe he was going to get through tonight without addressing why he lied to her about his legs? Of course, she had noticed his limp and those damn crutches. She knew he had a physical impairment; he wasn't that skilled at deflecting the conversation, she had just been too polite say anything all night.
He took a deep drag of his cigarette and blew the smoke out in the opposite direction. “I was going to tell you, but I did not know what to say. I hate these things.” He took his crutches and roughly pushed them into the corner. “Since I was small, all the surgeries and bone lengthening and leg braces…canes. I did not want you to pity me.” He picked at a rough cuticle on his thumb before putting his cigarette back to his lips.
Cash laughed, “I was talking about the fact that you smoke.”
“Oh, shit.” Ivar laughed in return. He took a sip from his glass of whiskey before sitting it back on the table. “I am Scandinavian. We all smoke.”
Cash nodded, still trying to digest what he said before about his impairment. “Are you in pain?” She asked, hoping she wasn't prying.
Shrugging, Ivar sat back in his seat and looked out at the lanterns that illuminated the small garden. “I hurt, but not really pain.” He licked his lips as he tried to think of how he could make it make sense to her. “When I was born my legs were deformed…one shorter than the other and both twisted. They were fucked. I had surgeries with metal rods to make them straight, and longer, and all that. But, they never really got strong and the pain never really went away. I grew up with it. I live with it.
Sometimes, when the weather is bad – snow, or rain for many days, or when it starts to get cold and wet, I have pain. When I walk too much or go a whole day without taking these damn braces off, I get pain. But the normal hum that always is there? That’s just Elias.”
“I'm sorry, who?”
“The name of the pain. My old friend, Elias.” Ivar chuckled at the memory. It was a code-word he and his mother made up when he was little. It was his way of letting her know that he was in pain, without alerting the rest of the family. He never wanted his brothers to treat him differently because of his impairment, so they came up with a code. If he would tell his mother that Elias visited him at school, she knew that he needed medicine, warm compresses and rest.
“The people in my head have names,” Cash said absently.
“Excuse me?”
She wiggled herself forward in her chair and leaned to rest her elbows on the table. If they were dishing about their crazy, he was in for a treat. “You know on in the movies people have an angel and a devil that sit on their shoulder to tell them what to do?” She waited until he nodded. “I don’t think I have that. I just have these people in my head and they are always having conversations. Jasmine and Jessica. These bitches don’t agree on anything. They’re supposed to be here to help me, you know like my conscious. But I’m usually playing referee between them…like everybody calm the fuck down. They get on my nerves.”
Ivar laughed at her animation. He couldn’t believe that he just told her about his legs and she countered with the fact that she was probably schizophrenic.
Taking another sip of her drink, she studied his face. “Can you walk without that stuff?” She pointed to the crutches.
He shook his head. “I can stand, but not walk. My legs do not hold my full weight. My right leg does not bend. My left does but, I still need to hold onto objects to balance, otherwise, I would fall. The legs do not move together, so I bind them. .” He closed his eyes, “When I do not have the braces – I crawl.”
“We talk about everything, Ivar…”
“I could not just tell you.” He looked her in the eye, holding her gaze for the first time that night. “I could not stand it if you stopped talking to me.”
“Did you think I talked to you all this time because I thought you were going to win a Walk-A-Thon? You didn’t even give me a chance.” She watched as he played with the wrapper on the whiskey bottle.
“I did not want to disappoint you.”
She licked her lips, “I’m not disappointed.” Her words came out in almost a whisper.
Did she move toward him, or did he come toward her? Just like knowing which truly happened between the Big Bang Theory and Evolution - it's all a matter of opinion. Perhaps there was a seismic shift in the tectonic plates that moved their bodies toward each other at the exact moment in time. Whatever happened, the space between them closed and their lips touched.
It was so soft at first, that the feeling of their warm breath on each other’s lips left more of an ache than the flesh that preceded it. But after that brief contact, came a hand. A soft, small hand, with delicate fingers, gently holding the side of his neck and her thumb tracing invisible patterns along his jawline. When her hand made contact with his face, his lips reclaimed hers with just the slightest bit of trepidation, but much more curiosity.
He pulled back for a moment just to look at her face before she gently nipped at his full bottom lip and the next thing he knew she was swallowing his moan. Her mouth was still sweet from the Moscato as Ivar opened his more and allowed his tongue to gently lick her lips. He wasn’t sure when he seized the back of her neck and pulled her toward him. Maybe it was when she looked at him that way, the way he had always wanted a woman to look at him. The way Freydis used to look at him all those years ago. Cash looked at him like she wanted him. No one had looked at him like that in a very long time.
Oh, he was good – how had she ended up on his lap? His lips felt like velvet and his tongue was as smooth as silk. His breath had a pleasant smoked whiskey flavor that reminded her of a bar she went to in college. That’s where she had met Big Dick Darryl. What a fun night that had been.
Ivar had this gentle way of pulling back, like he was about to break contact, only to come at her mouth at a different angle. He wasn’t a sloppy kisser by any means, every placement of his lips was deliberate, tactical, well thought out….sensual. Even the people in her head were in awe of his lip skills.
It took every ounce of restraint he had when Ivar felt Cash’s fingertips touch the base of his throat and gently slide down his chest. More than anything he wanted to be able to pick her up and carry her back into her room, throw her down on the bed and do whatever they do in movies before the camera pans to the vase on the dresser. But, he knew he would never be able to do that. He wasn’t sure what exactly caused it – be it finally meeting her in person, the feeling of her lips on his, a woman touching and wanting him, or knowing that he’d never be able to share in the same stories of freaky sexual exploits like his brothers…but suddenly he had the urge to cry.
Pulling back slowly, Ivar kept his eyes on Cash’s lips noticing how they still glistened from his kiss. He had been so cool, so smooth all this time, with her, from their first online conversation, and now, all he wanted was to be held. “I’m sorry.”
“What’s wrong?” Why were they stopping? This was going extremely well. Were her kissing skills not up to par? No one had ever told her she was a bad kisser before. She’d made it a point not to get anything filled with garlic or onions with dinner so she wouldn’t have stinky breath, just in case he tried to get a good night kiss. Hell, she even had on a really cute matching ‘just in case’ underwear. So far, things were going extremely well, she thought.
Running his thumb across her jawline he tried to restrain himself from kissing her again. “I think I should go back to my hotel. You had a long day and are probably tired.”
“You don’t have to go, yet.” Did she sound too eager? She didn’t want to seem slutty, but they had been talking for six months and it had been a hot minute since she got laid.
Ivar exhaled slowly through his nose, trying his best to calm himself. “I don’t want to spoil our first date.” He kissed her lovingly on the forehead “I think it is best if I go now.” He let her follow him to the door before stopping and turning around to kiss her softly on the lips. “I can see you tomorrow?”
Cash got on her tiptoes to kiss him again, “Yes.”
“Rich gone?”
Jared lifted his head, tearing his eyes off his phone to see Evan in his doorway. He was always so careful about taking his shoes off, about not making a mess. It was equal parts annoying and endearing. He practically lived in Jared and Rich’s room at this point and he was still treating it like a fancy hotel.
“Yup.” He locked his phone, watching as Evan shut the door behind him and paused in the middle of the room, looking like he didn’t know where to go. “Probably making out with his boyfriend.”
“Isn’t Jer with them?” Evan’s voice was still soft and he was still just standing there like a lost puppy. So he had to do everything himself. With a slight roll of his eyes he set his phone down among the blankets while shifting over to offer up some room to Evan. That was all it seemed to take because now he was crossing the room and gently hopping up onto the bed, slotting his body perfectly next to Jared’s own.
“Dude, I don’t know what the fuck is goin’ on with that,” Jared couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter - Rich had been prattling on about that situation for weeks and as of late he had no clue who was actually dating who in that mess. With a sigh he just turned his head to bury his face in Evan’s shoulder, he really didn’t care to think about it for the time being.
“Your hair’s greasy.” Jared scoffed a little at that, taking note of how Evan tipped his head back instead of burying his face in his hair like normal. Normal. Well, this whole thing wasn’t very normal of them. Whatever it was.
“You can only be rude if it’s not to me, asshole,” he tried to keep his tone gruff but a breathy laugh slipped out at the end. He knew full well he was the only person who Evan felt comfortable being anything but painfully polite to. “Showering is hard. I didn’t wanna deal with it.”
“Have you.. not showered since you got the cast? That’s like..” Jared could practically hear the gears turning in Evan’s head until he opened his mouth to complete the thought, “two weeks.”
“Fuck dude, I’m not an animal!” Shifting a bit Jared weakly hit Evan’s chest, rolling his eyes to himself. “I kinda just.. wash my hair in the sink. And then like.. half shower. With, like, a wash cloth.”
“You know you can.. wrap your cast right?”
Jared tried not to laugh in his face at that one.
“I may be dumb, but I’m not stupid.” When Evan finally laughed and let his shoulders relax he couldn’t help a triumphant grin. After a second he felt a nose against his hair and it was his turn to practically melt, sinking back against Evan. “Yeah. But then I’d have to like.. balance on my leg and carry all my shit.”
“I can help you.”
Jared couldn’t help but short circuit at that. It was disgustingly intimate and Jared wanted to fucking choke because now his face was red from the thought of Evan gently touching his hair. Years of fleeting dreams about making out with Evan (and maybe a little more) did nothing to prepare him for soft intimacy. But he also felt Evan tensing up under him and they didn’t need to be both thrown into a state of utter uselessness. It came out as nearly a whisper, “alright.”
But Evan didn’t seem to hear, breathing uneven as he stuttered out messy apologies.
“Evan. Fucking hell, earth to Ev.” With a quiet grunt Jared pushed himself up, bracing a hand on Evan’s chest. Sitting up he was able to look down at Evan, drawing his brows together as he looked over his face. He seemed sincere about the offer, if his panicked expression and continued whirlwind of mumbled apologies was anything to go off of.
“I’m so sorry that.. Sorry. Sorry. That was weird and gross I don’t-”
“Dude. I said alright. I mean, like,” Jared directed his gaze anywhere but Evan, feeling his own cheeks warm up a little as he tried to play it off, “like you can carry my shit. And like stand by the shower in case I need you to hand me something.”
“Oh.”
The bathrooms were big enough that he felt like he could play it off and Evan could hide in the corner while offering minimal assistance. Sure, maybe he’d prefer to have Evan with him, to lean back into him. Or.. to kiss his face while they washed each other’s hair. Fuck. Since when had he gotten so fucking soft? This was the shit he roasted Rich for.
“Wanna help me wrap my cast?”
There was no time like the present. Besides, if Evan was going to complain about how greasy his hair was then he’d make him eat those words. Or whatever.
Not to mention he was also a little worried that he wouldn’t be able to work up the nerve later, this conversation already had momentum he didn’t want to stop.
“N..Now?”
Jared just huffed out a sigh as he awkwardly clambered over Evan to slide off the bed, straining to grab his crutches once he made it to the floor.
“You don’t have to do this.” Jared looked up at him, raising an eyebrow as he looked over him. His face was still flushed and he was fidgeting with his hands. Heaving a sigh Jared just leaned to grab his phone and tuck it into his pocket before hobbling away from the bed. “I’ve managed so far.”
“But.. you want to uh..” Jared heard some rustling as Evan practically fell off the bed, stumbling to catch himself. He bit back a fond smile at the absurdity of it all and just dropped down onto the futon as gracefully as he could manage. “I wanna help.”
When Jared looked up Evan was already collecting the few plastic bags they had off the ground and that time he couldn’t help but smile a bit.
“Alright,” he said it like a leading question, waiting expectantly as Evan shifted his weight between his feet. He shifted so he could stretch his leg out for easier access and when he saw Evan practically waiting for a command he sighed, “tape is in the top desk drawer.”
Evan grabbed the duct tape and sat on the floor in front of Jared, wrapping up the cast with a sort of practiced ease. Jared’s cast was bigger than what he’d been used to before and he watched Evan scramble, digging around Rich’s side of the room for two extra bags to fully cover it. Once he was done he sat back on his heels, Jared could practically feel the nervousness radiating off of him. “But.. if someone sees us both go into a bathroom they’re gonna think..”
Right. The redness on Evan’s face was almost contagious. Just almost. Because now he was thinking about it too, well sort of, he didn’t care if anyone saw them, he barely knew anyone on the floor but.. The thought of sneaking away to the bathrooms with Evan for something else - that was enough to make him feel a little warm.
“Just wait like.. a minute and then follow me. Dude. No one cares, people do worse shit in those bathrooms. You’ll live.” His words seemed to be convincing enough and Evan was nodding now.
“Okay.. yeah. Alright.” Evan smoothed his palms over his pants before getting to his feet. Jared couldn’t help but feel a little amused by the shakiness in his knees - he’d caused that. Well, maybe. Maybe it was anxiety, knowing Evan. “I’ll just.. I can bring your clothes and shower stuff.. and everything. Yeah. You.. you can go now and I’ll.. I’ll be there in a second.”
“Text me if you change your mind.” Jared was pulling himself back up to his feet, wobbling on his crutches a bit before heading towards the door. Of course he’d give him an out, Evan looked on the verge of passing out and Jared really didn’t want to push whatever it was that they had. He liked kissing Evan. He liked laying with him. He.. liked him. When he managed to get the door open he gave a mock salute before heading into the hall, letting his shoulders slump as soon as he was out of sight.
The whole thing was a spur of the moment mess and in the moment the yearning for that tenderness had fogged everything. Now that he was alone and hobbling into the bathrooms he looked back on it, as he often did. There were so many times over their lives where Jared had jut pushed too far and now he was worried this was another. Huffing out a sigh he ducked into one of the open bathrooms, leaving the door unlocked behind him as he leaned on the wall to send a text.
Jared (6:22 pm): last one on the left  Duck (Ev) (6:23 pm): ok coming
That was promising at least. So maybe he wouldn’t get his tender fantasy of washing each other’s hair and feeling soft skin to skin contact - but at least he was getting a proper shower. And Evan wasn’t disgusted with him. Or something like that. Wow, he really was starting to sound like him. They were spending a lot of time together. He shook his head and moved to carefully balance his phone on the sink.
With nothing better to do he ran the water. Hot but not too hot. Evan would probably fret over him cooking himself if he showered with his normal water temperature. His heart stuttered at the thought of Evan fussing over him - he used to find it annoying, he used to call him overbearing, comparing him to his mother. It felt different this time.
Only a few minutes has passed before Evan was practically throwing himself into the bathroom and locking the door behind him. Outrageous. It brought a wide grin to Jared’s face as he shook his head fondly.
“W..What?” Evan seemed to shrink in on himself a bit as he hung up the towel, using the second towel hook to hang Jared’s towel bag. His hands were practically shaking.
“Shh,” Jared barely stifled a laugh as he whispered, “don’t want someone to hear.”
Evan was nodding frantically enough that just watching him could give Jared a headache. Instead he just stifled a laugh, shoulders shaking as he kept his cackling at bay, face scrunching up with pure amusement. Deciding not to waste any more time he just turned around, hiding his expression as it softened into something more fond. There was something oddly cathartic about being able to let some of that softness seep through instead of forcing it under lock and key. Well it wasn’t oddly cathartic. Probably just normal cathartic. The point was that he was just happy he didn’t have to hide.
Tucking his glasses into his shower bag he just leaned his crutches on the wall, awkwardly balancing as he tugged his clothes off. He’d gotten better at the whole process over the last two weeks. Especially considering he’d been alone for Thanksgiving break. He had a slight handle on it all. Enough, at least, to haul himself into the shower and finally get under the spray, blindly reaching for a bottle on shampoo while he let his hair get wet.
Yeah. He needed this.
It only took a minute for Jared to encounter a problem. He didn’t have particularly good balance and with one hand propped up against the wall and one clutching onto his shampoo bottle.. he didn’t really have a way of going about this process. Which left one option. They’d made it this far, he might as well drive it home. Clearing his throat quietly he gave as loud of a whisper as he could manage, “hey.. Ev?”
“Uh.. yeah?” He’d heard Evan’s shoes on the tiles and based on his (blurry) shadow he was on the other side of the curtain.
“Okay, you’ve got me. I’ll admit defeat just this once.” Jared didn’t often make a habit of asking for help, but Evan was the single exception if there ever was one, “could you help me wash my hair? Balancing and opening bottles and blurry vision aren’t my favorite combination.”
“Oh but I..” The words set off some primal fear reaction in Jared, he sort of froze up. The silence was only broken by the sound of water. It was almost deafening. “I don’t.. wanna get my clothes wet.”
Jared swore he could fucking strangle him.
“Well, the great thing about that is that you can take your clothes off to shower.” He managed a quiet laugh because if he didn’t laugh he was probably going to lose it in one way or another. Besides, if that was Evan’s mental block he could try and put that at ease because, “I’ve seen you without clothes before.”
“That.. that was..” Jared squinted a bit, watching as Evan’s shadow fidgeted on the other side of the shower curtain. He held back another laugh, it was probably cruel enough to bring that back up. Losing your swim trunks at the pool definitely wasn’t a pleasant experience.
“I’m already in here and I can’t really do this,” he went with a softer tone this time. The silence stretched on long enough to make Jared second guess everything. Maybe it was an utterly horrible idea. “Ev, it’s fine. I.. you don’t gotta, it’s cool.”
“I.. okay, hold on. Gimme.. a s..sec. I’m fine.”
For once Evan wasn’t pausing, he sounded.. well, as sure of himself as he possibly could. Considering his general aura it was pretty impressive. He heard clothes hitting the ground in a pile and it was suddenly very real and very intimate.
“I.. okay. I’m coming in.”
When the curtain was pulled open Jared was met with the sight of Evan, eyes squeezed shut tightly. He had to laugh. And.. he was wearing boxers? So what, maybe he couldn’t help but spare a glance! It was sort of endearing actually.
“Jesus, are you serious?” Jared moved the smallest bit to the side so Evan could join him. The red in his face was from more than the warm water. Jared breathed out another laugh. “If you slip and die I’ll kill you.”
“That.. that doesn’t,” he was whispering harshly and no one would never know what he was going to say exactly because his voice faltered when Jared settled a hand on his shoulder.
“Oh my god. If you’re not going to open your eyes at least let me help,” his tone was light and airy - stupidly, he kind of felt like he was floating. Slowly, he helped direct Evan to move until he was standing behind him. “Here.”
After some fumbling he was pressing the bottle of shampoo into Evan’s hand, face scrunching up in amusement as he heard Evan struggle to get it open. Once he got the hang of it he was passing the bottle back and Jared gladly took it, head tipping back a bit instinctually.
Nothing could have prepared him for the feeling of Evan washing his hair. It was different than when he jut played with it while they laid it bed - it made him feel something that was just intense and he couldn’t quite place it or put it into words. It was painfully tender and it made his knees weak. His eyes burned with the threat of tears.. or maybe there was shampoo in his eyes. That was probably it.
Being taken care of was.. nice. Maybe he’d let it happen a little more often.
His Aphrodisiac...Part 2 Vampire Ivar! x Reader
Weeks had gone by after our steamy session in Ivar’s office. I still couldn’t process the fact that he was a vampire. That ancient tale of a monster who sought nothing but blood was true. However, he had proved otherwise. Ivar didn't seem like the type of person to go around sucking people’s blood just because he felt like it. No, he was the type that when I had a problem he would make it disappear. Like Johnathan, my ex-fiancee who wouldn't stop harassing me. As soon as Ivar had found out about him, he never showed up again. It was as if he had disappeared into thin air. Of course I was relieved at the time, but now I cant help but think about if Ivar had anything to do with it...
----------------------
it was the night of the annual Lothbrok Corp dinner. Only a select few people from the office were to attend as many of our sister branches would also send their representatives. Not to mind the fact that the founders of Lothbrok corp would all be there as well, with their friends and family. This year the dinner had been set to occur at Ivar’s mansion upstate. This included a secluded area where the next house wouldnt be in sight for miles. Ivar was a man of privacy and now I could understand why. The dinner was to start in an hour and I had yet to finish my makeup. I wasn't really one to amazing at it, but I knew what would compliment my (y/s/t) complexion. As I finish applying my mascara, I take one last look in the mirror before heading out to the kitchen to find my phone and call an Uber. Taking my coat in one hand and juggling my keys, phone and purse in the other. I manage to somehow lock the door, but not before I’m met with a pair of electric blue eyes. “I..Ivar. W...What are you doing here?” I manage to say through my shock.
“You haven't returned any of my calls or messages since that night (y/n). I wouldn't admit this to anyone else, but I was genuinely worried about you.” He trails off as he says the last part whilst avoiding my gaze. “Ive just had a lot on my mind, Ivar. Im sorry.” I say looking anywhere except his eyes, knowing full well the effect they had on me. In a flash Ivar stepped away from the limousine, took my coat and placed it on his arm and grabbed my hand dragging me towards it. “Ivar what are you doing my Uber’s here.” “I gave him 100 bucks and sent it away. You're coming with me.” He whispers the last part close to my ear before shoving me inside the limo. His tone of voice wasn't all the way warm, it had hints of his icy personality in them and made it hard to breathe for me.
-------------
The car ride was awkward and filled with lots of tension. Ivar tried multiple times to start a conversation with me, but I paid him no mind. I sat as far away as possible from him, I could swear that there were times where I thought that I would fall out the door. His hands would “accidentally” (as he said) wander all over my legs, tracing patterns and ever so often trailing even higher. It took everything in me to  ignore his advances, and he knew very well the effects his touch had on me. His mere touch created a pool of wetness down there and the bastard knew it. Before his hand could go any further, the view of a great mansion surrounded by nothing but trees caught my eye. “Woah, that's huge.” I said as I looked out the window. “And its all yours (y/n), if you’d just have me.” Ivar says as he turns my head and stares into my (e/c) eyes. Getting lost in his electric blue orbs I lose all sense of why I was upset at him. It’s as if it’s only us two and the whole world disappeared when I look at him. Before either one of us could act upon our feelings once again, we’re interrupted by the driver as he pulls up in front of the house. “Oh for fucks sake! Someone is always interrupting us!” Ivar screams out, startling me a little as his eyes began to glow. His sudden outburst made me want to run away, but also made me feel as if I should have calmed him down.  Ivar turns to me and he just stares, no sudden movements or words just a blank stare. In seconds Ivar is out of the car and opening the door for me. If I hadnt known that he was a vampire I could've sworn that it had all been a fix of my imagination and that he truly wasnt there.
-------------------
As Ivar led from the limo inside the mansion, I couldnt help but admire the artwork and intricate design of his house. It was something truly unexpected from him. Once inside the ballroom Ivar had disappeared, I guess to greet everyone and say hello to his family. Whom I know he hasn't seen for the longest time. I however, am very overwhelmed and I think it may have to do with the fact that everybody’s eyes are on me. I don't do very well in public scenarios like this one and all the attention is making me a little sick. There was security all over the place and although intimidating I knew that I had to find a washroom as quickly as possible, so I could lock myself in there all night. The bodyguard didn't even speak, he just pointed towards the stairs and went back to acting as if I wasnt there. Shrugging it off I make my way up the stairs only to find a corridor with an exceptional amount of doors. Internally cursing myself I make my way down and knock on every door, but they're all locked. I almost gave up until I saw the double doors on the right. Obviously this couldn't be bathroom, but at this point I didn't care, I just had to find a place to stay till it was time to go.
As I opened the double doors Im greeted by an awfully dark lit room, with intricate black designs. The cravings on the bed posts and the paintings around are those of ancient nordic runes, something that led me to believe that this might have been Ivar’s room. I knew of his great admiration foe his background, he loved anything that had to do with nordic beliefs and ancient gods. Making may way inside Im transfixed by all the artwork and details around me that I fail to acknowledge the presence that lies in the corner of the room. “So, I seem you've made yourself acquainted with my room already, (y/n)” Ivar says as he walks out of the shadows with his crutches? “Oh my God, Ivar are you okay? I literally left you for less than an hour and you've already gone an injured yourself! Wait, I dont mean to sound like a bitch/ignorant or anything, but why do you have crutches? Aren't like vampires supposed to be like physically invincible?” I said all in one breath, as Ivar just cocked his head to the side and stared at me. “You honestly believe everything that the media tells you, dont you?” Point taken, all I knew about vampires were form shows, movies and books that were then turned into movies or shows. “Anyway, before I became a vampire, I was actually a viking. Hence all the nordic runes everywhere and the massive tattoo on my chest and back. My family was very rich and my father Ragnar was king. However, unlike my siblings I was born without function in my legs. Which is why I use those metal braces in the corner over there while I'm in public, and these only around people I trust.” He says moving closer to me. “Now, tell me as to what drew you to come in to my room without me, (Y/n).” Ivar says as he draws my name longer than he has to, in a very sensual tone that makes my knees tremble.
“(y/n), give in. Dont fight it, we were meant to be. You're the reason I can finally feel alive. If it weren't for you, I probably would've kept roaming this world with no sense of purpose. I know you feel this connection. So once again , will you let me take care of you?” And in that moment all senses had been thrown out the window.
Ivar closed the gap with his hot mouth against yours. You gasped as you felt the heat spiral through you, as you ran your fingers through his soft locks. Throwing the crutches to the side Ivar manages to pick you up the hips and deepens the kiss. The sensual dance between your tongue and his is soon over as you cave in to his dominance and let his explore your mouth, slowly with deliberate movements. “Ahhhh...” A moan escapes your lips as his lips move down to your neck. “Since I saw you in that dress earlier tonight, it took everything in me to not act on impulse.” Making his way to the bed, Ivar lays you gently on the back satin sheets and holds himself up as his roam over your body in admiration. Ivar then looks at you for permission as his fingers begin unlacing and unzipping your dress. As Ivar kisses along to every spot that is unveiled to him, goosebumps begin to raise along your skin. You had longed for this moment for awhile, but had denied yourself of the pleasure due to your fear. Oh how stupid could I have been you thought to yourself as you relish in the pleasure that this man brought you every time he kissed and caressed you. “You're so beautiful...” Ivar says as he touches you with reverent fingers, as he begins caressing that part of your body that is not very often explored.
His fingers begin tracing the inside of my hips as his head dips down to my flower. Ivar takes my clit into his mouth and gently bites it, bringing a pleasure that I cannot describe. My hips buck up to him on their own accord asking for more. But he holds me down and brings his face up to mine. His intense gaze had distracted me for a second as his ministrations towards my clit were over. But before I could beg him and ask him for more, it was as fi Ivar had already beat me to it. In a flash he had dipped and curled 2 of his massive fingers into my hole. Pumping them in at an alarmingly fast rate. “I..Ivar, that feels so good!” I manage to say through my moans that are increasingly louder as I throw my head back from all this pleasure. Ivar’s pace becomes steady and his lips are now focused on my right breast, kissing and caressing it as if it were his favourite thing in the world. My hands uncurl form the sheets and move towards his head caressing it and then bringing it up so that I could kiss him. This time I wanted to show him that I too cared for him. And all that fear had been washed away, this man had been everything to me the minute I started working for him and Would be damned if I let him get away. Vampire or not!
Bringing him in for a kiss Ivar tries to take control and dominate again, but this time I would be in control. I manage to shock Ivar with the lack of submission that he’s used to seeing from me. I use this to my advantage and flip us over. Trying to not hurt him in the process. I break apart our kiss and stare deeply into his eyes as our heave breaths begin to entangle with each other and become one. I slowly remove his fingers from my hole, much to his dismay. And before he could protest I place my finger to his lips. “You've shown me how much you care for me. Time and time again Ivar. Let me show you that I care too.” At this his eyes hold admiration, surprise, and hints uncertainty. Making my way down his body, I leave trail of kisses form his chest all the way down to his legs. Taking my time kissing every part of them and staring into his eyes with love and tenderness, which he mirrors in his gaze towards me. I then make my way up to his long and already hard cock. Oozing with loads of precum.  Licking the excess I take as much as I can into my mouth as I wrap my hangs around the base his very thick and long shaft. Pumping and bobbing my head I can feel and hear Ivar’s pleasure. His hands wrap around my (h/l)(h/c) hair and his hips thrust forward. I can see that he is reaching his high and before I could make him cum, he pulls out of my mouth. “I’d like to cum inside you, if you'd let me (y/n)” He says as his hands pull my face into a heated kiss.
Climbing on top of him I go to position myself on his member. However, Ivar flips us around so that he is the one on top. I could only look at him in shock for a second before my eyes roll back as I feel him thrust into me with one swift movement. My hands wrap around his torso, and claw at his back from the overwhelming sense of pleasure. Our moans become a melody to my ears, but soon I can feel myself reaching that high. “Ivar.....Im gonna” “I know baby, me too.” And just like that with a few more of his powerful thrusts Ivar and I reach our edge. Ivar and I stare into each others eyes with admiration and love. My hands without thought brush the strands from his hair away from his sweaty face. “Dont leave me ever again (y/n), I mean it. Those weeks that went by were probably the hardest of my life.” He breathes out as he caresses my face and body so gently, as if he were thinking that I would just vanish right there. “I would never think of leaving you again, ever. Im your aphrodisiac after all. What would you do without me?” And without a care in the world we lied in each others arms whilst the party roared downstairs, and the host nowhere to be found.
What A Moment Can Do (Chapter One)
WELP, here it is boys! The first chapter to a thing I’ve been writing forever. I hope you all enjoy! (Let me know if you’d like to be on a taglist or something)
Summary: For a moment, everything was perfect. Voices were ringing proudly, eyes glistening and smiles spread wide. All his brothers were together, it was them against The World, and they were on top.A moment later is was all gone. Cheers turned to screams, smiles into tears, and Crutchie was being ripped away from everything he once knew.And he woke up in the Refuge.
Warnings: Mentions of Abuse/Injury. Blood
No more that I can think of for this chapter but they WILL get worse so let me know if you’d like me to tag something specific
READ OR COMMENT ON Ao3
----
For a moment, everything was still. All the screaming and yelling ceased. The smell of dirt, sweat, and paper ink disappeared along with the sights they were attributed to. Everything that Crutchie was used to, all that he came to know and love was gone. He couldn’t tell if that was a good thing or not. How could everything be so still in a moment of chaos?
But it was only a moment.
One by one all of Crutchie’s senses returned. The smell- the stench of damp grime and the all-too-familiar scent of metallic blood quickly filled his nose.
The feeling- everything hurt—oh God why did everything hurt? Crutchie tried to shift his weight, discovering he was lying flat on his stomach on a cold wood floor, and was met with a sharp pain running up from his leg into his back—damn his leg. The pain caused him to wince, sucking in the air between his teeth and clutching his eye tighter together.
(OR READ ON Ao3)
The taste- an unfortunately familiar metallic. At somepoint throughout the events he must have busted his lip. He grazed his tongue across his bottom lip, swollen and crusted over. Definitely busted.
The sound- A quiet murmur arose from the otherwise silent atmosphere before one rose above the rest.
“’Ey, looks like the new kid’s comin’ to,” came a voice from  the darkness.
“‘s about time. Alright, getta move on. Get up!” A new voice spoke up, yelling at Crutchie and using the tip of his shoe to emphasize his statement with a solid poke. Crutchie just laid there, his body refusing to comprehend the simply order. “Ya dumb or sumthin’? Move or I’ll make ya” the boy repeated, another poke following suit.
“Lay off ‘im Fives,” the first voice responded, “kid can hardly keep his eyes open, and looks like da gutter ta boot.”
 The sight- Crutchie groaned and forced his eyes to flutter fully open. Tilting his head up slightly he took the opportunity to try and figure out where he was. He could barely make out the group of young boys that surrounded him, all of varying ages and degrees of wariness. Most of the boys in the group seemed to all just form together in a foggy mass. Crutchie couldn’t make out just how many there were—though it seemed to be way more than there should in a room this size—nor could he really decipher one from the other. Whether or not his ability to see was hindered more by the growing and fading black spots speckled throughout his vision or the meager light coming through a single window in the room, Crutchie wasn’t sure. The two figures he could make out stood in front of the crowd, staring each other down. The one about a head taller than the other, Crutchie thinks he heard the smaller boy call him Fives, a bushel of dark hair upon his head, jabs a finger into the chest of the smaller boy.
“I don’t care what shape he’s in. If he keeps layin’ there someone’s gonna trip on ‘im, an’ I’se not gonna deal with them cryin’ and shit all over. Or better yet, a goon’ll try to open the door and it’ll hit him or—“ The smaller boy scrunches his nose and swats away Fives’ lingering finger.
“Alright, alright, we get it” the boy squats down next to Crutchie, “Come on kid, ‘s not good to be lyin’ there anyways. Think you can stand up?” Crutchie stiffly nods, but doesn’t fully believe himself. He glances back up at the sets up eyes that seem to be glued to him. The number of boys that once surrounded him substantially dwindled, either from lack of interest or fear of Fives’ harsh words, but the eyes still made Crutchie feel unsettled. He felt like an animal that was forced to do tricks, like the ones in the circus he read about in the paper.
Crutchie braced his hands against the ground and pushed himself up to a sitting position. Every aching bone in his body screamed against the action. Slowly, he pulled his good leg closer to his body and out of habit goes to grab his crutch…wait, his crutch. His eyes quickly scanned the area surrounding him and a panic brought upon a tightness in his chest.
“Well,” the boy looked at Crutchie expectantly, his eyebrows furrowed together. Crutchie took a breath and tried to dig his nails into the wall beside him in an attempt to pull himself up. It took all but a second for him to crumple upon himself in a heap back on the ground. He pounded the ground with his fists and tried to fight back the tears that were forming in the corners of his eyes. Once again he felt alone, focused only on gaining back the breath he didn’t realize he lost in his endeavors, when a hand on his should shook him out of the daze. “Come on then,” the boy grabbed Crutchie’s arm and draped it over his shoulders, forcing Crutchie to his feet. Slowly, he gained his balance and shifted nearly all of his weight onto the boy who, luckily, was about his height and despite his frail appearance was able to take the weight. Crutchie looked down at his bad leg, twisted and bent in all the wrong ways, it was a wonder how the rest of the group didn’t notice it’s bad condition. However the rest of him probably didn’t look too much better, so it must have just blended in with the rest.
As they made their way to a nearby bunk, the boy spoke up again, “The name’s Ten-Pin by the way” Crutchie gave a curt nod in response. In an effort to ignore the withering pain that made its way through his body with every step, Crutchie focused his attention on the bunks the duo walked past. Each was completely filled with five to six other boys, limbs hung off the edges with barely enough room for two, let alone three, children. In the lodging house, it wasn’t an uncommon sight to find two boys in a bed, conserving heat or making room new incomers, but this was a completely different sight. Crutchie sighed, missing the sound of his friends, bickering, teasing, laughing --hell any form of noise would suffice right now. There was an eerie silence in the room for how many boys there were, and any eyes that were once curiously watching Crutchie were now locked on a wall, ceiling, or pillow. All interest for the new boy was lost.
“Ya gotta name?” Ten-Pin’s voice broke Crutchie out of his thoughts.
But he was only able to stutter out a few noises before Ten-Pin stopped at the end of one of the bunks and called up “Eddy, Stretch!” A small boy popped his head of the bed first. His brown curly hair was sticking up at all angles and Crutchie could barely make out a faded yellowish-green bruise along his sickeningly pale jawline. It was some sort of relief that the bruise was old, but a part of him wondered what caused such a young kid to gain the mark. He couldn’t have been older than seven or eight. The boy gave Ten-Pin a big, toothy grin and went to respond but instead let out a long, straining cough into his arm and Crutchie couldn’t help but notice the large wet spot left behind on the child’s sleeve. Ten-Pin waited for the coughing to reside before continuing, “Stretch up there?” The boy-Eddy, Crutchie presumed-nodded, where else would the boy be, and motioned to slap at Stretch to wake him up. A dark skinned boy came into view, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
“Whatdya want now, I’se just gettin’ some shut eye.”
“This ‘eres a new kid, you guys gonna share with him” Stretch knitted his eyebrows and studied Crutchie.
Narrowing his eyes he snapped, “He’s still bleedin’” Crutchie reflectively reached his hand up to his head only to be greeted with a mat of wet hair. So that’s why his head hurt so much. “It’ll get all over the bed, and us!” Stretch countered. Eddy’s eyes dropped and let out another cough in response.
“You’se know well enough that you’se the two smallest. ‘e won’t take up too much room. ‘Sides I ain’t asking ya” Ten-Pin nodded at Crutchie to climb up the latter. Stretch grumbled something inaudible but laid back down. Crutchie took his weight off of Ten-Pin and gripped onto the latter with his life. He took a deep breath and looked up the latter as if it was the giant beanstalk from that one story Specs had been telling the younger boys. He turned to say something to Ten-Pin, perhaps to explain his predicament and difficulty climbing said latter, only to find him walking over to his own bunk and scampering up. Guess he could only care about a new guy so much.
Crutchie gazed back up at the journey before him, the boys at the lodging house always allowed for him to have a bottom bunk for the sake of his leg- though he would deny any need for their concerns. On a good day he’d scale the latter to the roof of the lodging house with relative ease, but this wasn’t a good day. Nonetheless, these boys were allowing him into their bed, and he wasn’t in the mood to make any more enemies.
Slowly, Crutchie hopped up the latter, trying his best to ignore the pain rippling through his body with every sudden movement. He was met at the top by the eyes of little Eddy, who was once again coughing up a lung. Upon closer viewing, Crutchie was able to make out dark purple crescents that lined the bottom of the boy’s eyes. Eddy patted the small space next to him on the flimsy mattress and attempted to scoot closer to Stretch in order to make room.
Crutchie managed to maneuver his way to the small opening, clutching his bad leg as he laid down. Despite the attempt to make room the three boys were still laying shoulder to shoulder and he had to grip the side of the bed as to not tumble off the side. Tears threatened his eyes but he clenched his eyes shut to force them to recede. No tears, he had to be strong, he had to be tough, he had to be—a wet cough broke Crutchie from his thoughts. The younger boy was pressed tight up against his side, allowing for Crutchie to feel every hitch and shake. He  remembered that feeling, being sick with no sign of recovery. Not being able to take a breath without it immediately being pushed back out.
  Crutchie stayed wide awake, staring blankly into the dark. His eyes never fully adjusted to the lack of light, nor his ears to the eerie silence. After living so many years in the lodging house, Crutchie had grown accustomed to constant noise, even late into the night he would often fall asleep to whispered conversations and creaking bed frames. But here, here there was nothing, as if the boys didn’t move. As if Crutchie was already living with the dead.
And Eddy’s cough never really seemed to stop though. The hacking sound made louder against the silence.  After a few minutes of the continuous coughing, Crutchie couldn’t help but turn over and place a hand gently against Eddy’s back. He felt him tense up, causing  cough to temporarily  worsen. Crutchie slowly began rubbing Eddy’s back in small circle; when he was sick last winter, left awake due to a similar cough, Jack had rubbed his back in a similar way and it had helped ease the pain.
“Hey,” Eddy whispered between coughs and turned over to face Crutchie, his eyes wide, “What’re you doin’?”
“I’se just trying to help,” Crutchie pulled his hand away, “Do you want me to stop?”
“No, it- it feels nice. But—why’s you doin’ it?”
“I just want you to feel better. I know this is what helps me when I’se sick”
“But, why’se you helping me?” Crutchie froze. Did this boy never have compassion shown towards him? What life did he live that there was no one to help him?
“I don’t like seeing my friends hurt. Whenever someone is sick or hurt at the lodging house, everyone pitches in to help them.”
“We’se friends?”
“If you wanna be,” Eddy nodded and coughed once more, this time inching closer to Crutchie until Crutchie was forced to wrap his arms around the younger boy. He took the boy in without any hesitation. There was almost nothing to Eddy. Crutchie could feel every rib through his undershirt and his narrow hips dug into Crutchie’s gut, but he didn’t dare move. Even after just knowing the kid for a few minutes he would do anything to make him feel better. As he pulled the boy closer he expected to feel the warmth that the human body usually resonated, but despite it being the middle of July, Eddy’s small body was so cold it was as if he had been laying out in the snow.
“Why you’se here?” Eddy asked as he wrapped his hand around a piece of Crutchie’s shirt. Crutchie had to think.
“Here?”
“The Refuge.” Even the word was enough to bring pain to the child.
“The Refuge” he repeated under his breath. Deep in his gut, Crutchie always knew where he was. The crowded rooms, barred windows, freezing temperatures, and overall dirty atmosphere was just as the boys at the lodge had described it. But somehow, somehow, he’d hoped for a different answer.  He had witnessed boys go in and out—sometimes only in—other times coming back a completely different boy. Crutchie looked down at Eddy, whose head was rested on his chest. Who was this boy before the Refuge? Had he been someone’s brother? Son? Friend? Maybe he loved to run around outside and play in the mud, like so many of the young newsies. Whoever he was, it was different than they boy Crutchie looked at now.
“New Kid?”
“Crutchie.”
“What?”
“My name’s Crutchie, if we’se friends, you should know.” Eddy was silent for a moment, taking in the new information before continuing.
“Crutchie, why’s you here? Da other boys ain’t nearly as nice as you’se.” Crutchie sighed, remembering the events from just earlier that day.
  “We’se on strike. Me ‘n the other newsies ‘n the hot shots ain’t too pleased with us. I’se was too slow to get away when the bulls showed.” Tears threatened his eyes once more. All of his friends, his family, standing side by side against the World.
“What’s a strike?” Eddy innocently asked. Crutchie thought for a moment.
“It means that the big guys, Pulitzer and Hearst and them, they’se doin’ something that is wrong—that we don’t like—and we ain’t standing for it no more. So we stop selling the papes until they change it.”
“Just you  kids? Like me?”
“ Yeah, I mean, alotta us is older, but yeah, just like you.”
“Wow, you’se real brave.”
“Yeah, real brave.” He didn’t feel brave. Jack and Race and Davey and Finch and Specs were brave, Crutchie, he was just along for the ride. If he was brave he would have put up a better fight, hell he wouldn’t have gotten caught at all. If he were brave he would have shoved Snyder right off of him, instead he just called out for help.
And then it was back to silence. Crutchie just laid there, staring at the ceiling as Eddy let out more coughs. This time he turned into Crutchie and he could feel something wet seep through his shirt. Crutchie began rubbing his back again and waited until the younger boy’s raspy breaths became even, signaling sleep. He now understood why Jack risked everything to steal and sneak blankets and clothes into this place. Just seeing Eddy, sickly Eddy, who was just about Les’ age—a sprightly boy who, despite having only known him for a short while, managed to cement his way into all the newsies’ hearts—being treated this way, living the life that no child should have to, made Crutchie want to do the same. He wanted to stay awake, mainly to make sure that the sickly child would continue breathing through the night, but eventually his exhaustion caught up to him and he drifted into an uneasy daze.
it only just now occurred to me that the reason im having a harder time of moving around even a week after the surgery is the brace they put me in is mostly hard, solid plastic and is therefore significantly heavier than the one that’s pure foam
i can wiggle my foot around with minimal difficulty. the other night i accidentally shuffled too much and ended up with my leg in a position that cut off circulation to my foot and spent the next half hour fixing it, still with minimal to no pain. but i cant get in and out of bed by myself and i cant use the crutches properly (i have socks on so i can just shimmy across the room) and i only realize now it’s the weight of the brace, not me being a weenie
sorry i had to read back lol..
I guess i left off in august. August was a tough month. I was sent to grass valley for work for a week. it was terrible haha. but the views and the food were amazing. i just wished i shared it with gf. the life out there was so different so closed off from the city. i was literally at the boarder line of no where with civilization trees and twilight vibes. met some cool people but over all still a good experience and learning experience.
september was a blur but still filled with good memories and pool parties and drinking and turn ups. waking up wasted. waking up in someones arms. waking up to breakfasts. i also think this was the month i broke my leg. well technically it wasnt broken. but my knee was severely sprained that i couldnt really walk for a week much and the doctor gave me crutches and i had to wear a brace. it also ended my hiking career for awhile. oh well
i started applying for jobs in october. seriously this time. i didnt waste anytime. that i actually got a call from san francisco kaiser. i was offered a position but i also kind of turned it down because i was offered a position in san leandro kaiser. plot twist. lol. craziest few months ever.
gf is doing good. she also got a job at kaiser im super proud of her. we both get to walk this new path in our careers together but in separate locations.
so tomorrow is my first day. im really hoping i wake up and dont end up being late. because the last week of just stressing over this position and getting all the paper work together on top of turning down other positions really had me stressing. we both have orientation day tomorrow. im really looking forward to that continental complimentary breakfast in the conference room. over all im scared out of my mind. this is a completely different set of pace. working in the pathology lab as a lab assistant and seeing a different set of patients is wild. dealing with sick dying patients and children really kills me inside. but someones gotta do this job..
im happy though. im going through my time line goal at the right pace. and im hoping everything else i set on that goal falls through. i do need to figure out these future classes im suppose to take and how its gonna work out with my schedule but we’ll see how it goes.. til then i guess we’ll talk about my first day tomorrow.
my quest crew has been dreading this new change since last week. but im glad theyve been very supportive. i give my main boss a lot of props for letting me go and move forward. shes taking it like a champ but i can see in her eyes and in her voice that shes weak. im sorry tanya! ill still send u heart emojies from time to time..
ill be juggling two phlebotomy jobs this time.. im hoping it works out the way i need it to and planned. so ill still be with quest while working at kaiser. i had to alteast give them one day a week lol. not much but it was better than leaving for good.
guess thats all for now..
Im starting to be skeptical about all the "miracle talk" in Christendom. all that benny hinn etc. what do you as pentecostals have to say?
I believe that nothing is impossible with God. My grandmother died, was dead for hours before the pastor could get to the hospital. He prayed a short prayer, and my grand mother sat up, asking for water. My sister was told that she would never have any children by no less than 10 experts. She went to the Church for special prayer, was anointed with oil, and prayed over. A year later she delivered twins. And two years later she had another child. Another sister's child was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. She was sent to St. Louis for surgery and told that their daughter would have problems for many years to come because of cranial asymmetry. My sister and her husband brought my niece to be prayed for, she was anointed with oil and prayed for. When she got to St. Louis, the doctors could not see the hip dysplasia on her xrays and scans. She was sent home, and has no trouble walking and running. She is a happy 13 year-old. Furthermore, her cranial asymmetry disappeared as well.My pastor was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumor. He was so sick, he couldn't move his head off his pillow without retching. He had all kinds of scans done at his local hospital. He was sent to a hospital far away from home, where the doctors thought they could surgically remove the tumor, or start him on radiation therapy. When he got there, he was very ill. He couldn't hardly keep food in his stomach, and any movement made him nauseous. All the way to the distant hospital, his wife was praying, and our church was fasting and praying, and three other churches were fasting and praying for our pastor. The doctors wanted a new set of scans done, so they took him down to the MRI machine. While he was in the machine, he said that he could feel the presence of God there with him. Later that afternoon, when all the tests were finished, he was able to eat and keep it down. The oncologists came in for surgery consultation, but they were not talking about surgery or chemo or radiation... They were talking about a miracle. Those new scans... Not a tumor present. They had the validated scans from his local hospital. Those scans definitely showed a large tumor. There was no doubt that the tumor was there, but the new scans showed that there was nothing there anymore. He traveled back home the next day with none of the symptoms he had had all the way there.His wife three decades later was also diagnosed with a very aggressive tumor at the base of her skull. She was able to have it removed, but because of the way that it was situated in her neck, when they removed if they severed her vocal chords on the right side of her neck, and many of the nerves in that side of her face. She was told she would suffer from a tingling numbness on that side of her face, and that she would never sing, and would have to give up teaching the youth group because only one side of her vocal chords were working. That was 12 years ago. She is still singing, much to the amazement of her doctors, and still teaching. Her doctors have no explanation, as anyone else they have seen like her only have a faint, raspy voice. She also does not have tingling numbness. A young boy was brought to our church and prayed for. His kidneys were failing. He was on the transplant list, but his health was rapidly failing. His family was not Christian. They had heard that Jesus had healed the pastor of our church from a brain tumor, so they brought their son as a last ditch effort. We prayed for this young man. And while this child eventually did have a kidney transplant, it was not for several years. If you stop him and ask him what happened that night, he would tell you that God healed him, allowed him to process toxins out of a nearly non functioning kidney, and helped his body to wait until he could have a transplant. And then, there is Amanda. When she first came to church, it was in a wheelchair. She came to get her life right with God, because her MS was progressing to the point that her doctors were telling her she would die. We prayed for her many times. God healed her, sustained her, and strengthened her to the point where she was able to stand up out of her wheelchair, then hobble on crutches, then walk with a brace and arm brace crutches. But that isn't the end of Amanda's story. Amanda went to a women's rally earlier this year. She knelt at the altar and was praying at the end of the service when God filled her with the Holy Ghost. She felt a burning sensation all over her body, and witnesses said she stood up without the aid of her crutches, removed the brace from her leg, and proceeded to leap and dance before God. She has not used her brace or crutches since then. Her doctors don't know what to make of it. On one hand, she does not have the symptoms of MS anymore, and on the other hand, she does not have any signs she ever had it to begin with.So, yes, God heals. Miraculously. No question. No doubt.Kris.
im sad so naturally i started thinking about jake dillinger angst and i ended up writing more than i expected so im putting this under a cut lmao
 ive seen a few fanfics where rich avoids jake after the fire because of the whole guilt for burning down his house, showing a fake personality all of their friendship, being not good enough anymore etc. etc. and most of them tend to be rich-centric but i want more from jake’s side. i mean, this kids been living on his own for who knows how long after his parents ran away, and it must be pretty traumatizing being alone and having to support yourself in what we came assume is a pretty big house. and being High School Awesomeness Personified and having an image to upkeep we can assume that with no one to talk to these feelings are getting bottled up. and then his house gets burned down. by his best friend. and he broke both of his legs. now tracz did say it was probably somewhat cathartic for him but that doesnt change the fact that i doubt an insurance company is going to give money to a seventeen year old without their parents. jake probably wont be staying with chloe directly following the events of the party (and i doubt he’d admit hes homeless anyways) so jake is probably stuck living in hotels (or worse). he manages to get to the night of the play, balancing finding somewhere to stay, hospital bills, and all of those extra curriculars when all of the squip stuff happens. and now he’s in the hospital, likely permanently disabled from the squip making him walk on broken legs. fast forward to when theyre all out and rich is avoiding him. once again, jake is abandoned by someone important to him and now he REALLY doesnt have anyone to talk to (maybe jeremy or someone but i dont think theyre close enough for THAT yet). now jake would really have almost nothing. its still a little too soon to talk to any of the other main kids about it, he cant do his sports or many of his other extracurriculars now that hes stuck in either a wheelchair/leg braces/crutches/etc. and his best friend is almost like a stranger. i dont even feel like writing about an eventual happy ending. jake just. needs someone to talk to.
