I do hate the overuse of "same actors couples" that gmmtv use, but in many cases it does make a total difference in the plot

Only friends has been an example of good use of that. First, a lot of the attention to the story come from this couple, a story that maybe people would not pay that much attention because it goes out of the comfort zone of romance. Secondly, the reason some couples are accepted even after total bullshit is because we already have feelings connected to these actors together, I am pretty sure reaction to SandRay could have been way worst. Lastly, I love how they put the actors that were not a couple before for the "most likely to go wrong ship", I think JoJo knows that we expect established couples to end together and part of the reason that Nick Boston were ignored (besides the plot) was because they were not a couple before so it's kinda interesting seeing them get some track in the last episodes because truly few people are expecting anything from them right now
