Live action review -
One Piece: Romance Dawn
Episode one of the One piece live action... This is only my opinions and views, if you aren't interested in that then cool but I need somewhere to talk. This will be bullet points.
Introduction with Roger's execution and a narrator? A fantastic choice
Roger's casting is actually spot on though?? Why were people complaining he's great for the role, Roger is in his 50s here are you he's sick of course he's not gonna be a super model but he's still stoic looking and I like it
Scottish Garp I shouldn't expect anything less (if they ever get to Sabaody I hope Kidd and Killer are Scottish too lmao)
I like that you can see who's in the crowd too because for the anime/manga people it's like a lil treat (Dragon I see you stop hiding)
I帽aki is perfect. I don't think anyone else would have suited Luffy more, the more the episode continued the more convinced I became
Line delivery is... It could be improved. It's quite theatrical? Like stage place or musical type acting sometimes. Maybe it's what they were going for I don't know, I don't hate it but it made me pause for a few moments because I get really bad second hand embarrassment
Coby and Luffy moments are great, they're dynamic and it's a lovely relationship they have going and you can tell the actors work well together
Shanks and his crew? Absolutely phenomenal. Peter Gadiot is perfect but the trailer did him dirty. My only complaint is I don't think Benn's casting was the best, sorry to the actor but he just doesn't fit quite like the others.

Zoro's intro and choreography was great, lil hint to Baroque Works if we get a S2 hehehe
Nami slayed as per usual, trust in Emily is at it's peak. She isn't just playing Nami, she is Nami

In my most honest opinion, this episode was good. It wasn't the greatest, there's definitely more to come and it's a lovely scene setter and build up. The cast are great, I have a few comments about how they've been directed to deliver lines because it's honestly not the best.
The CGI even now, where there wasn't much needed, is really promising. My favourites so far? Definitely Shanks, Luffy (both mini and big) and Nami. They honestly made the first episode for me. It's got the fun feel of the show, and for a live action it's quite good. I do agree it's not to everyone's taste, my brother watched one scene and didn't like it but that's because he's a skeptic. I have high hopes, let's just hope incels and chronically online shit wipes don't ruin this for me or others... Don't listen to them, it's worth a watch.

Note: This is how I think the Live-Action could the adapt the arcs in the series. Some arcs like Wano Country have to be cut a little in order fit the 8 episode season and some arcs who are in diffrent sagas have to be pushed together, like Skypiea and Long Ring Long Land. I made this having the pacing of Season 1 in mind and the generell lenght of the arcs including in some seasons a character side story. Don't take this too seriously, it's just a little thought experiment of mine. Since we don't know how long the series will actually last and if it will even reach the end of One Piece.

One Piece Anime Watchalong: East Blue Saga 1/6

Romance Dawn (Eps 1-3):

I've heard from lot of fans that One Piece doesn't get "good" until around 50-60 episodes. But, honestly I think it got good from the moment Luffy bursts out of that barrel in episode 1! As you can tell, I thought there was a lot to like about the first arc.
I like how the characters are introduced and how it establishes their personalities, their motivations and desires so well. For example, even though it should be an introduction to our main straw hat crew, I really liked how these first couple of episodes are just as much Coby's story as it is Luffy's or Zoro's. Going from this incredibly timid and spineless chore boy forced to do whatever Alvida ordered him to do for two years to someone who could eventually stand up for himself and garner some courage, instilled by Luffy, of course. But, once he escapes the clutches of Alvida's crew and encounters the marines led by Captain Morgan he wanted to follow in their footsteps. However, upon seeing the corruption and tyranny they were inflicting on the townsfolk, he instead decided to embark on his own path to become a naval officer that suggests that he might reform the navy to be more honourable. It sets up some interesting character progression for him, what his relationship with Luffy will be like when we see him again (because I have a feeling we will see him again). I also love how, even though Nami has only a couple of lines of dialogue in this arc, through the visual storytelling I am able completely get a grasp on who she is as a character.
Already, I'm seeing the wonders of OP's worldbuilding possibilities, even though we have visited two locations so far. We get some explanation of what the Grand Line is and the deadly risks involved in crossing it. We only get a taste of it here, so I'm interested to see how it gets expanded later on.
There were certain moments throughout this arc that gave me chills, mainly involving Luffy. The aforementioned barrel scene, the first on screen use of the Gum-Gum Pistol on Alvida's ship, and where he deflected the bullets with his rubbery skin. The imagery was so cartoony and yet so badass, and I'm excited to see what kind of
If there was one issue I had, which isn't a major issue by any means, but the antagonists were a tad bit simple. They have memorable designs, and served their purpose fine, but they were probably the least interesting aspects of this arc.
Overall, you couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the world of OP with these first couple of episodes! I'd argue that the OP anime is the definitive barometer for the "three episode rule" because this arc is a lot of fun as a standalone piece of television while also, intentionally, having a lot of the world shrouded in mystery that compels you to explore this world further. Hopefully, I will continue to do that with the Orange Town arc!

One Piece Live Action Episode 1
Holy crap... all I can say to that is that is my Romance Dawn Trio! They are so perfectly cast I'm excited to see the rest of them. And Nami had some proper fight scenes! I loved that! Luffy and Zoro were just spot on. They really nailed down Luffy's charisma that makes you pay attention to him.
Coby is adorable and needs protection at all cost! Garp - I love they're including him so early! That's gonna be a new dynamic if his relationship with Luffy gets out sooner?
They're going darker - Buggy is creepy as fuck and I love him! Oh and Zoro cut Mr. 7 in half... Graphic! I loved we saw it though and makes me think if we do get a second season Baroque Works will be the main plot. I feel they're laying some groundwork there because even Garp mentioned them.
This is a show that knows it's borderline ridiculous and just rolls with it! It's a brilliant opening ep and I actually like all the changes they did.
I'm gonna have to watch this about 20 more times to catch all the easter eggs they dropped! I kept pausing as it was to try and see everything! The attention to detail was stunning. Even Morgan's office ceiling had detailing of the marines all over it. They could have just kept an open studio ceiling to save some money but nope they put one in and gave some beautiful camera angles of the whole room! Makes me super excited to see what they've done with the rest!

Dikisahkan, klub sepak bola Raimon Junior High pada awalnya hanya memiliki 7 orang pemain. Kondisinya memprihatinkan, setiap saat-saat latihan harus meminjam lapangan dari klub baseball. Pada suatu hari, Mamoru dipanggil oleh kepala sekolah yang memberitahukan bahwa akan ada pertandingan melawan tim sepak bola Akademi Teikoku. Jika klub sepak bola Raimon kekurangan orang atau kalah, maka klub ini akan dibubarkan. Dengan semangat, Mamoru berusaha keras mencari orang untuk mengisi kekosongan tersebut. Saat pertandingan pun tiba. Mulai babak pertama pertandingan, Teikoku menyerang habis-habisan Raimon dengan skor 20-0. Pada saat Raimon akan kick-off, Kakeru (satu-satunya pemain yang masih berdiri) berlari meninggalkan lapangan dan melepaskan seragamnya. Saat itu, Shuuya, seorang murid pindahan, mengambil dan mengenakan seragam tersebut dan mulai membantu tim Raimon bertanding. Akhirnya skor berubah menjadi 20-1, dan Teikoku membatalkan pertandingan (yang artinya pemenangnya adalah Raimon).(4) Pada seri-seri berikutnya, Mamoru dan kawan-kawan bergabung dengan tim nasional Jepang, Inazuma Japan, dan bertanding melawan tim-tim lain dari seluruh dunia dalam kompetisi Football Frontier International, hingga akhirnya menjuarai kompetisi tersebut Spacetoon 2.
