Adventures in Animation: Digitigrade IK Leg Rigging
Did just fine with setting up an existing bipedal (plantigrade) IK rig (for Aiko 3 and Hiro 3) in Blender. Now, I'm faced with the challenge of adjusting the rigging for Daz's Dog8 to use IKs. Apparently, digitigrade IK rigging is a tad more complex than plantigrade IK rigs—or at least I'm finding it to be complicated.
So what's an old fart like me going to do? Find a shit-ton of tutorials on YouTube to watch, of course. Some of the ones I'll be watching when I'm not at work:

Honestly, Pierrick Picaut has a lot of content on rigging in general—specific to Blender, which is what I'm using. While the videos can be hard to follow, it's worthwhile because you get different ideas on how to approach IK or FK rigging.

Royal Skies is pretty awesome. Most of his videos are two minutes or less and provide quite a bit of information for the time span. His Spine IK video gave me some pretty good ideas on how to add spine iks to Aiko and Hiro 3 (actually, looking at that video again, I might adjust how the spine ik acts for those two. I love the fast pace format, which suits my ADHD brain perfectly. In the video, he is using Blender 2.8 but the mechanics of the video is basically the same for Blender 3.6.

Here's the last one I found, by Omtay. While it's overly long, they do leave a note that the first fifteen minutes is basically the tutorial—which five minutes in is giving me a pretty good idea of where I'm screwing up. Like the Royal Skies video, this video was done with 2.8 but to me, looks like it'll work just fine with 3.6.
So why I'm adjusting the Daz3D Dog8 rig? Namely because the rig that comes in from Daz Studio is bare-bones, secondly from what I learned with Aiko and Hiro, IKs have a more natural flow to them than FK and are easier to pose.
The other reason is that I ported over the Dire Wolf morph with the Dog8 figure, but that presents another challenge. The Dire Wolf morph changes the size of the geometry, which doesn't translate well when ported over to Blender.
The biggest reason I'm doing this is that I decided to use the Dire Wolf morph for my webcomic, Silent Shadow—basically, it's intended to be one of my character's alternate form (he's a werewolf).
I'll post more in the future on the progress of my webcomic—writing-wise and art-wise. I usually post these updates on my website, but it seems like Jetpack's blog to Tumblr connection only works when it wants to, so there will likely be a lot of cross-posting.
