Alpha!Giyuu x Ubuyashiki!omega!reader
A/n: Reader has colored eyes, I had to give them purple due to the story and how they are Oyakata-sama's sister. Other than that, everything else is you. You are the younger sister as well! A good three years perhaps. I went by some Reddit post I saw of when the Hashiras became Hashiras. It said Giyuu was around 15-16 at the time. I also have it set before Kyojuro became a Hashira. The others will be mentioned as the years go on.
P A S T
The girl was sitting sieza style behind her brother; her nieces and nephew were sitting around her as they tried their best not to fidget too much. Their mother, Amane, was sat next to her as well, sitting the same way as she watched her husband in front of them.
The young leader was speaking with the Hashira Demon Slayers. Familiar faces were present at the meeting, having been there for so long without having to retire or lose their lives. (Y/n) watched slowly, tracing over the faces of those who seemed to be sucked of any light left in their soul.
One of the girls scooted closer to their aunt, a yawn wanting to spill from the girl's mouth. (Y/n) smiled impishly, patting the little girl's head in a soothing manner. She giggled quietly, having four more pairs of eyes watching her and waiting for their turn to be pat on the head.
Just as she finished patting the head of the last quintuplet, Kiriya, her body froze up some, sensing the presence of a new alpha. She froze in her seat, turning around in curiosity. She saw all the same Hashira's, still kneeling and listening intently to what her brother had to say.
Most of the Hashira's were known alphas, a select few betas. But none had ever made her stop in her tracks, none of them really called to her attention. Though for the first time ever, there seemed to be an energy going about the air, a buzzing feeling in the atmosphere that made her nerves spark.
(Y/n) began to pay attention to her brother, squinting her eyes at the bright light that was beaming down on the Hashiras outside in the garden. The engawa was meant to protect the Ubuyashiki family from being out in the sun so much. (Y/n) sat just at the edge from the start of the engawa and the room shoji door frame.
"I would like to introduce a new Hashira. One who was recommended to me by many. He has been through many struggles the same as all of you. I do hope you get along." Kagaya spoke, turning his head to the left as someone walked into the garden.
(Y/n)'s nerves began to buzz, her head tilting from the feeling and hands rubbing against each other to calm the electric feeling moving throughout her body. Kagaya only glanced at his sister's way, feeling her aura change into one that seemed to be buzzing around them.
She was leaning to the side, trying to get a better look at the new Hashira, the 15 year-old's natural curiosity making it way out. The children scooted forward as well, wanting to see what their aunt was so excited to see. Amane only looked at them oddly, wanting to move to get her children to sit back but she didn't want to be disrespectful and interrupt Kagaya.
The sun was bright in her eyes, the light seemingly making the boy's blue, almost black, hair shine. Any bright color seemed to be brighter than it intentionally is. While the maroon side of his haori seemed to be easy to look at, the other side was a bit more complicated. The sun was shining so much that day, a few clouds to paint the sky as a beautiful background.
He stood back up from his bow towards the Hashiras, the boy turning to look at Oyakata-sama. (Y/n) was quick to straighten back up, startling the little 4 year-olds who were following her lead. All of them suddenly looked forward again, waiting for their father/brother to say something once more.
(Y/n) kept her eyes on the brightly covered boy, in a trance almost at how much his aura seemed to be calling to her. She looked off to the side once more, all the children watching her closely as they scooted on their knees closer to her. She gave them a smile, trying to get them to understand she was okay.
When she looked back up, her breath got caught in her throat. He had blue eyes, the color clear as the sun beamed down on them. Her eyes went wide, for once not slit as she tried to see through the sun's rays. She straightened her back as much as she could, trying to get the buzzing feeling to move evenly through her body.
Giyuu had looked behind Oyakata-sama once he had finished introducing the boy. He had begun to feel warm, but not from the sun. It was a content feeling, his ever lasting depression seemed to be pushed down and over powered by it. He had felt the strange buzzing feeling the moment he stepped foot into the garden, eyes glancing over all the Hashiras thinking maybe it was their auras that gave off the buzzing.
But when the 15 year old couldn't pinpoint it from any of the people in front of him, he had turned giving the Demon Slayer leader a bow before glancing at the family that was behind him. The man himself was an omega, a known fact among the Demon Slayers. It was also known that those born into the Ubuyashiki family were always born omegas.
The role seemed to be stuck permanently in the family, the universe just knowing that the family itself were sickly people; maybe thinking that they were in need to someone bigger to take care of them. Though after eras of the Ubuyashiki family being leaders of the Demon Slayer corps, they were anything but that. They were respected, they were followed as leaders. There was nothing omega like about how they inspired people, but maybe it just had to do with their psychic.
Giyuu was quick to find the buzzing was coming from behind Oyakata-sama, a vibration going on around the air around the girl behind him. She had been looking at the children that sat down next to her, a turn of her lips from what he could see from her side profile.
She had turned back towards the garden, her eyes catching with his which made him flinch just the tiniest bits. His eyebrows jumped, eyes growing wide for just a fraction of a second. He took notice of how she seemed to freeze as well, back becoming straight from her old position and eyes sparkling with something he couldn't tell from the distance.
His eyes turned back towards Oyakata-sama though, his movement's catching the boy's attention. He didn't want to be caught staring at one of Oyakata-sama's family members, didn't want to come off as rude.
"(Y/n)," Kagaya spoke, turning around to get his sister's attention.
"Yes, brother?"
"Could you help me say hello to the new Hashira?" He smiled, his pale eyes seemingly feeling as though he knew exactly what it was she was feeling. He hadn't gone fully blind yet, but it was getting there.
"Of course." Kagura stood up slowly from sitting on her knees, not wanting to get light headed.
She gave Katana a smile, hands pulling from her kimono to grip onto the umbrella the little girl had stretched to give her. Her sandals clicked against the engawa's floor once she had gotten them on, seemingly trying hard not to look back over at the boy as she watched her sister-in-law help her brother up.
Kagaya gave his sister a sarcastic smile, hand held out as she wrapped her's around it. She opened the umbrella and took a step off the engawa, holding tightly onto her brother as he took steps down as well. They began their walk towards the other Hashira's, the Demon Slayers all taking a knee once more as their leader grew closer.
"You're buzzing." Kagaya whispered, stifling a laugh as his sister clenched onto his arm a bit tighter.
"I know."
"It's getting louder." He continued to tease, smiling bright when they reached the kneeling boy he was heading for.
"I know." (Y/n) harshly whispered, bumping her body just a bit to get Kagaya to stop talking about it.
"I hope you find peace here." Kagaya blessed the boy before looking up at all the other Hashiras. "I do hope you all except Giyuu Tomioka. May you all get along swell."
They began to rise, Giyuu stayed looking down the sibling's feet. Once he heard that everyone had risen, he raised his head, eyes clashing with pale purple as they seemed to stare down at him. As he began to rise, her eyes followed his. She was humming, not from her throat but rather from her aura. There was a soft sound coming from her, one that Giyuu found to be rather soothing.
While Giyuu was able to hear the humming, everyone else only seemed to get a buzzing vibration. A vibration most have to determine whether one was an alpha, omega, or beta. It seemed to have intensified though, once the two got closer together.
"This meeting is dismissed. Thank you all for attending." Kagaya spoke to his slayers, smiling at them as they each gave him a bow. "I do hope you all will take the time to get to know, Giyuu."
As Kagaya moved to turn him and his sister around, Giyuu suddenly let out a hum, quickly looking around wondering if anyone had took notice. He turned red, ashamed that noise came out from him. Though it seemed the only one who noticed was (Y/n). The girl snapped her head to look at him, a smile gracing her lips.
His eyes once more seemed to grow wide, taking notice the same hum came from her as well. Sounding exactly like the one he seemed to let out, maybe just a bit louder. It was a resonance almost, the sound bouncing back towards him, intended to be louder just for him to hear. There was a smile slipping onto his lips, the sound casting a trance on him.
Though it was short lasted, seeing as another Hashira suddenly smacked the boy's back causing him to stumble forward from the impact.
"Not very flamboyant of you!" The large older male laughed heartily, Giyuu suddenly becoming stoic as he turned around to face the circle of all the Hashiras.
"Welcome," A girl his age spoke, giving him a small bow. "I hope we are all able to work together."
Giyuu nodded her way, taking one last glance over his shoulder. The shoji door was closing, but just before it did; the girl looked at him, the humming drifting back towards his ears. He didn't show much of his emotions, but as he turned back to speak with the fellow Hashiras his body continued to lowly hum. And he enjoyed it very much.
It was a few weeks later when Giyuu seemed to run into the humming once more. He was asked to send in his reports for the past couple of months, Oyakata-sama asking for them personally. The boy showed no real emotion when it came to seeing him, however on the inside he was excited to see the girl again, his humming becoming louder the closer he got to the Ubuyashiki estate.
There was a maid standing with her hands holding onto a rather large umbrella. The girl she was covering seemed to be running her hands against the water in a small pond outside. She was buzzing again, the humming tune catching on Giyuu's ears.
She seemed to have noticed him as well, as she looked up from the fish and towards her general direction. She gave a bright smile, her eyes practically closed from her need to squint outside. The girl stood up and brushed her hands against the fabric of her clothing.
The boy stopped short of just entering the home, turning his body completely to watch as the girl conversed with the maid and then proceeded to take the umbrella from her. He began to internally panic as she made her way towards him, eyes moving to look anywhere but at the girl as she reached him.
"Hello." The girl bowed, smiling softly at him. Giyuu was stuck in a trance, humming along with the tune the girl seemed to give off. He did question it for a bit, wondering why his body seemed to be doing it on its own. He would assume it had to do with their physical statuses.
"Hello." Giyuu softly spoke back, giving the girl a bow as well. He had his hand on his blade, the girl's eyes following it. She looked back up at his blue eyes, body relaxing as they stared at each other.
"Are you here to see my brother, Giyuu-san?" (Y/n) asked, clenching just a bit more onto the umbrella she held.
"Yes." Giyuu answered. "I am to report my findings from these last few weeks."
(Y/n) gave him a nod and smile.
"I'll take you to him."
The girl turned around, her sandal feet clicking along the ground as Giyuu followed after her.
"If I may ask," Giyuu began, hearing a hum in return. "What is your physical status?"
(Y/n) stopped for a moment, turning to look at the boy with a confused frown.
"I mean, wouldn't you be able to tell?"
"I can," Giyuu explained. "Even if I didn't already know."
"It's just, there's a humming coming from you. I didn't know if it was something else having to do with your physical status."
"No, I'm an omega." (Y/n) answered, moving along once more to round the house. "Though I can ask you that too. You give off the same humming."
Giyuu tilted his head in confusion as well, wondering why no one else seemed to have mentioned it.
"Ah! Giyuu, thank you for coming." Both of the teens turned to face Oyakata-sama who sat inside the room that led to the garden.
The boy gave the man a bow, glancing at (Y/n) when he noticed she didn't. Instead she seemed to be in thought staring at her brother.
"Would you like to stay (Y/n)?" Kagaya asked his sister, but the girl shook her head.
"No, thank you." She glanced at Giyuu. "I'll be inside for a bit, the heat is burning me a bit."
Kagaya nod his head in her direction, turning to look back at the young Hashira.
"Shall we begin?"
Giyuu spent a good hour talking with the leader of the Demon Slayers, explaining everything he had learned from his time spent going on missions. In return, Kagaya gave the boy praise, thanking him for working so hard in the Corps. He also explained to Giyuu that in a few days time there would be another Hashira meeting, this small and for those who could attend.
It was only to introduce a new Hashira; a flame user, as Kagaya told the boy.
"Giyuu," Kagaya stopped the boy, before he stood up to leave. "My sister told me about this humming she hears coming from you."
Giyuu frowned his eyebrows, tilting his head as he did not know how to answer the older man.
"Yes," The boy explained. "It started the day I met all the other Hashiras. It's...um....very noticeable when I am near your family."
The boy didn't want to offend the man, so he instead decided not to explain that it was only noticeable when he was near the leader's sister. He didn't want to seem like a troublesome Hashira who was trying to get with the Oyakata-sama's sister.
"Is it?" Kagaya hummed, the man speaking as though he didn't know what it meant but he for sure knew. He was scheming in his head, a teasing smile playing on his lips.
"Giyuu," The man began. "My sister has told me that she would love to go out into town soon. Would you be kind enough to invite her? Join her on a walk out into the town?"
The boy flushed red, tilting his head when he didn't know what to say. He had never been out with a girl, much less one who seemed to call his attention. He was much too busy, these kinds of things never really spoke to him. Maybe it was because the leader himself was asking him to do something, but it made Giyuu think about something other than survival for the first time.
"I shall try my best."
With one last bow, Giyuu opened the shoji doors that led to the engawa, raising a brow when he noticed the Ubuyashiki girl sitting outside under the shade. He walked up to her, sitting comfortably down on his knees and placing his sword off to the side.
"I thought you were going to rest inside."
(Y/n) turned to give him a smile, fingers fiddling with some fabric that seemed to be in her lap. It was bright white, thoroughly washed to keep it bright. There was purple and green thread throughout it, the boy taking notice they were wisteria flowers embroidered into the fabric.
"I did," (Y/n) answered the boy. "Do you not realize how long you two took?"
Giyuu glanced out of the engawa, looking around at the sun to notice its position had shifted.
"I guess you are right." He cleared his throat, cheeks burning red when he looked at her embroidering more flowers onto the fabric. "Giyuu Tomioka."
(Y/n) stopped her needle work, looking over at him. She took in his bright eyes that he used to express himself. His lips were in a neutral line, his facial structure not giving much to his thoughts.
"Ubuyashiki (Y/n)." She told the boy. "It's very nice to meet you."
"What is it you are doing?"
(Y/n) picked up the fabric, the boy noticing that it was a haori she had been working on. He noticed the girl had a sad smile on her face as her eyes glazed over.
"I'm making a haori for myself." She told the boy. "Just something to keep me occupied."
She had a somber aura to her now, the boy taking note of how he seemed to know what the girl was feeling. As she went back to moving the needle along the covering, he suddenly remembered what Oyakata-sama had asked of him.
"(Y/n)," He started. "Would you like to go out into town with me? Your brother told me that you wished to go out."
(Y/n) squeaked some, flushing from the boy's question. She was so occupied with being flustered that she failed to remember she had a needle in her hands. She yelped once more, hand quickly moving from the white fabric to avoid being stained.
Giyuu's eyes went wide, the boy moving swiftly to take a hold of her hand without asking. (Y/n) seemed to blush even more, watching as the boy fussed over her hand and made sure she was fine.
"It was only a small prick. Nothing too serious." The boy told her, glancing up at her face before letting go of her hand.
"Ah...it's nothing to worry about. I'm used to pricking myself." She giggled, turning on her knees to face Giyuu.
"I would love to go out into town with you, by the way." She spoke. She took a glance at the afternoon sun, squinting her eyes just a bit.
"I think it would be best to go when the sun isn't so strong. My eyes start to hurt if I'm outside when it's too bright."
Giyuu gave the girl a nod, his eyes blazing with happiness if you were looking into them. His face remained the same though, but the girl knew he was happy with the date just as much as she was.
"I shall see you then."
"He wants to take a walk out in the town."
"With you?" Kagaya asked in an incredulous voice.
"Kagaya!" (Y/n) yelled, waving her hand in front of her brother's face as she closed her eyes to evade embarrassment.
"Don't mock your sister, dear." Amane scold softly at her husband.
"Sorry." Kagaya chuckled, hand moving to hide his mouth in a polite manner. He suddenly looked down, smile turning small as he sighed.
"Are you sure it's safe to go out?" Kagaya asked her, his older brother nature showing. He did ask the boy to take his sister out, but she didn't need to know about that. For now he will play the part of the worried brother.
"It's only the town Onii-Chan." (Y/n) smiled at him. "I won't go far."
"Well very good that he knows better. If he was to let you get hurt I would have to demote him from Hashira." Kagaya joked. "Alpha or not."
"Yes, yes. You are still Oyakata-sama." (Y/n) rolled her eyes. "Shame for the poor boy."
"Shame indeed."
(Y/n) squinted her eyes at her older brother, before easing down and sagging her shoulders. She took a glance at Amane, who seemed to be gathering the tea.
"Why haven't I been given a husband?" She asked him, watching as Kagaya smiled somberly. "Our family have always married young. Why am I different?"
"As much as I would love to say you aren't." Kagaya began. "You very much are."
"You're weak, yes. As much as you want to, you can't pick up a sword the same way our slayers can. You can't go out of the estate without help, for fear of a fainting spell outside the compound. Your eyes are much too sensitive to the sun that you have to wear bandages or go out in an umbrella."
(Y/n) looked down, sighing as she clenched her hands into fists in her lap.
"However you don't have the curse mark." She looked up at her brother, eyes moving over his marred skin that folded over his eyes.
She remembers the time it first started, an agonizing pain that had her brother withering from it in his teen years. She remembers it so vividly because she too would cry with him, worried she was that much closer to loosing her big brother.
In remembering, she knows it's been years since her brother started to loose his sight. Meaning if her brother started at a certain age it would be normal if she was to gain that same experience too. The Ubuyashiki family was cursed. All meant to suffer the same thing.
"I believe something is going to change." He spoke, looking out the engawa door and to the courtyard outside. "When I noticed you were not showing signs of the curse mark, I decided then that I wanted you to experience love yourself. I didn't want to choose those things for you."
"But what if you're wrong, Kagaya? What if I'm still cursed? Maybe it's delaying to manifest or something."
"When have I ever been wrong, (Y/n)?" Kagaya teased, smiling down at his sister for he knew he was right.
(Y/n) straightened her back, taking a deep breath while she looked over her sickly brother.
"As well, do you remember how you told me about hearing a humming sound for the Water Pillar?" Kagaya asked. The girl gave her brother a nod, frowning her eyebrows as she waited to hi to explained it to her.
"While not rare, it isn't common either to find someone who hums. Do you do it as well?" (Y/n) nodded her head.
"That is something that is caused by a person's physical status."
"What does it mean, though?"
"It means you are compatible with that person." All the girl did was frown her eyebrows, even more confused with her brother.
"I still don't get it." Kagaya rolled his eyes, chuckling at how his sibling was clueless.
"Being compatible with someone means that your body is more than likely fit to be with that person. In a sense, you are destined to be with that person." The girl's eyes went wide, face becoming red.
"Like, soulmates?" She inquired. Kagaya laughed joyfully, his smile bright as he looked at his sister with whatever remaining sight her had left.
"Exactly like that!"
"Do you hear the humming with Amane?" Kagaya let out a sad sigh, smiling softly.
"No," He answered. "And that is what makes you so special."
(Y/n) only looked at her brother oddly.
"You are the first, in over a thousand years, to ever hear the humming of a destined mate within the Ubuyashiki family." Kagaya had a far away look on his face, thoughts on the future as he almost teared up about it. "The sun is moving. The night will come to an end, as it always does."
P R E S E N T
(Y/n) had been spending her nighttime routine unfolding her futon. Everyone in the estate was getting ready for bed, moving about, finishing the last of their chores. Her brother was already asleep, his family resting as well. Though there was something keeping the girl up, a humming sound that was getting closer by the minute.
She stood from her futon, walking to the door that led to her engawa part of the home. With the sliding door halfway open, (Y/n) smiled softly at the loud humming that was coming from outside. She could see his silhouette coming closer with the dimly lit lanterns. His head was down, as it normally is when he would come around. She found it odd, to watch him walking into the headquarters this late at night, but something must have happened that made him come.
"Giyuu." (Y/n) whispered, gasping softly when the boy seemed to drop his head on her shoulder. He sighed deeply, listening in to the humming that she was giving. Giyuu nuzzled his nose into her neck, her fingers running through his hair, messaging his scalp.
"I have urgent news to tell Oyakata-sama." Giyuu pulled back from the girl, staring down into her purple eyes. He found them bright, even if it was dark out. They stood out much more than Oyakata-sama, the man's light due to the blindness. But hers were always bright, they always twinkled when they looked at him too. He found solace in them; comfort.
"He's sleeping right now." (Y/n) told him, frowning her eyebrows. She could see his worried eyes. He was stressed about something, whatever it was had him clenching his jaw. "I can have Amane wake him if you must tell him now."
"That would be best." Giyuu told her. Before she went on her way to her brother's room, she raised a hand up to Giyuu, placing it on his cheek.
"Giyuu, you need rest." She told him. The man only sighed, rubbing his cheek along her touch. He swallowed the spit that had built up, looking down at his soulmate.
"I spared a demon." (Y/n) didn't move her hand, she only looked at him with a confused stare. She was surprised sure, but this was Giyuu. She had known him since she was 15. He had never spared a demon, so if he did this one, it must've meant something.
"Do you not hate me?"
"Why would I?" (Y/n) frowned. "You are a hashira for a reason. I'm sure there's more to it than just sparing a demon."
"She protected her brother." Giyuu explained. "The brother protected her."
"What did you do?"
"I sent them to Urokodaki. He wanted to find a cure for her." Giyuu answered. "So I sent him to become a slayer."
(Y/n) gave a shaky breath but still pulled the boy's head down to place her forehead on his. Giyuu softly placed his hands on the girl's waist, moving his hands along to her back. They stepped closer to each other, breaths mingling.
"I'm sure you did the right thing." (Y/n) spoke to him. "And I'm sure my brother will say the same thing." She moved back, looking up at him.
"The sun is moving. The night will come to an end as it always does."
Giyuu's mouth twitched, the boy lowering his head to dip his lips closer to (Y/n)'s. She smiled softly into the kiss, melting into the bliss that befell her. The tune that sang softly from both of them was in sync. It created a warm feeling in them. Their matching songs bring joy to their hearts as they kiss.
Things were different with this girl for Giyuu. Ever since that day-the day he became a hashira- things didn't look so dull to him. And yes, the moon looked very beautiful every time he was in her arms.
