I give you: The Navigator’s Map of Shanties for the Weary Voyager!
So my husband got the idea to make a timeline map of my Shanks x Makino series ("Shanties" for short), so that readers could better see how the different fics are connected, and while I should have been prepared, knowing full well how brilliant he is, I was not prepared for the end result. I mean look at it!!!
Some descriptions of key fics and planned updates below! The fics are listed in the recommended reading order on AO3, but feel free to chart your own course! Beware rogue whirlpools and dangerous straits, and remember that however dark and treacherous the sea, at the end of the voyage is always a safe harbour ♥

Got Ben through Secrets of the Enclave, and he is still the absolute crankiest Jedi healer ever. 10/10, he will complain again.
Then I was running through some of the Alliance update scenes, and got a different cutscene because I wasn't running a Knight for once and--
I somehow forget Zenith is voiced by Troy Baker until every single time I see him, and then am like "oh". And of course, he's emoting here, really missing his old Jedi pal in true Troy fashion. And as I see the flirt option with Peepaw!Troy here, I am getting the sudden inkling that there might be another burgeoning ship in the back of my head.
Another old man, who is still stalled in Onslaught. Too bad I skipped Thyos past the Vanilla storyline, because that means I missed all the Consular scenes with them together. (I mean, granted, neither Thyos or Ben are really the Barsen'thor in my head, but still).
Damn you Troy Baker.

there is.... so much context here that i cannot even really begin to explain, but my beloved @stellorc did an absolutely stunning job on this commission of a pair of characters from my and @ipreferfiction's hp au! this piece is absolutely full of symbolism of these two and the journey that ends up sparking the entire plot of the actual fic; i can't say much more without spoilers, but everything here will come back to haunt the main plot in many different ways, despite these being prequel characters who may or may not make appearances in the story themselves. meet Alec and Tenebrae, who have been mentioned in Revan's journal!

thoughts on itadei, itakisa, and itasaku? and i guess any other popular itachi ships that are not currently coming to mind for me lol

Love it. Have written tens of thousands of words about it. It's sort of a frustrating ship to write because they're both assholes about their own feelings (and I don't think Itachi in canon... has a lot of thoughts on Deidara), but Deidara has an extremely canonical gay melt down over Itachi, so I feel like there's a lot of ridiculousness to explore. The fact that they're both criminal villain ninja means there's a lot of room for understanding that other ships might not have. Yes, Deidara blows buildings up with people inside, what of it? He's not like "ooh aah you monster!!" over the Uchiha Massacre. And I like that they both have wildly different, but demonstrably lethal/successful, attitudes towards problem solving. Like I think they cover a lot of each other's flaws while also making each other worse, you know?
Since it's "brutally honest" opinion time, I will add a complaint I haven't made in a while. I hate the way a good chunk of fandom writes Deidara in mlm ships. For some reason, people like to make him a naive uwu bean to play the "feminine" role. Stop that, it's boring and OOC.

This is a ship I don't really mind but also don't find super compelling. I'm not a big Kisame fan-- like he's fine, I like writing and reading about him fine-- but he's not one of my favorite Akatsuki members. I don't filter on ItaKisa but the tag won't make me NOT click a fic. I could be compelled to write it if I had an idea for it. I do prefer exploring their relationship from a more platonic angle. Kisame is most interesting to me when he's the guy dealing with Itachi's bullshit 24/7 and somehow still thriving.

My original OTP!!!!!! Okay so I think they're super compatible and HERE'S WHY--
Basically I think Itachi is someone who has idealized romance in a way where he has an extensive very bland fantasy about nice Konoha girls who let him have the most bland vanilla hetersosexual marriage of all time. He wants the culturally appropriate equivalent of a white picket fence. Would he actually be happy with this? No, obviously not, but Itachi also thinks he's a pacifist.
Meanwhile Sakura is a violent maniac who is trying her hardest to BE that nice Konoha girl. They indulge each other's insane fantasies about it. Itachi looks at Sakura and is like: "oh yes, the perfect Konoha kunoichi, the student of the Hokage and Hatake Kakashi, a healer with the face of an angel--" But if his ability for self-analysis were 2% better he would realize his favorite Sakura moments are all like "ripped a man in half" and "brought that same man back from the brink of death to interrogate him." He is ready to lay back and let Sakura live out her own fantasy of Fixing the tragic S-ranked missing-nin WITH HER LOVE because that is also what Itachi wants. Ignore that the village is on fire, please
Other Itachi Ships
Let's see.... every once in a while I get intrigued by the idea of Kakashi/Itachi, but I have never hit on anything there that I really like. I'm fine with Shisui/Itachi, but I don't think Shisui has enough of a canon presence for me to go really feral over it like I would ItaSaku or ItaDei. I'm intrigued by some other Itachi/Akatsuki ships although I don't think any of them are popular. For example, I think Itachi and Sasori would clash horribly in that they're both assholes in similar directions, and this would make SasoItaDei a beautiful trashfire for Deidara specifically.
I've written some Itachi-Karin interactions that I thought were fun so I think ItaKarin could be interesting. Ummm..... OH! I regularly forget Izumi even exists. Sorry, Izumi.

Premise: King Liam, at the time of his coronation, was prepared to fulfill his duty by selecting his queen from the group of suitors.
In light of the 'love of his life', Thalia Courtland, being the target of a scandal; she was deemed ineligible for selection by the Royal council.
To buy time to find Tariq to clear her name, Liam made the decision to select his childhood friend, Olivia Nevrakis, Duchess of Lythikos, as his 'temporary choice'.
However, during the year-long search tor Tariq, Liam, Thalia, and Olivia unwittingly formed a mutual bond, and a 'throuple' was established.

Olivia was surprised by the compliment, never being one to seek or appreciate praise.

Amalas noted her solemn expression and wondered if her former lover was doing well personally.

I'm someone who likes looking at things critically, no matter how much I love the series. So I went to the ATLA critical tag in the hopes of seeing takes and opinions that will raise up points I never thought of. Its fun and engaging for me and I've seen some pretty good, genuine and thought provoking points from some criticism of the show.
I stopped because I soon realised the tag is just 90% z*tarians complaining and whinging endlessly about z*tara not being canon. and ofc aang bashing. and they try to disguise this by being faux smart and oh so superior with their line of thinking. when all their opinions can just be boiled down to 'I hate that my otp isnt canon so I'm going to raise up some criticism that can easily be debunked by thinking for 5 seconds!'. case in point: the 'aang is a monk so he shouldn't get married!! he doesn't respect his culture!!' is also tagged with atla critical
well fuck the airbenders then I guess we should let them go extinct to uphold their culture. but oh aang should have killed ozai- *that* aspect of his culture should have been disregarded. they're so blatant in their bias and I've been in fandoms long enough to know which fans think of themselves as better and smarter than the rest when they're very much not. its annoying as all hell
me@z*tarians: GET OFF THE CRITICAL TAG. YOUR ENDLESS MOPING ABOUT Z*TARA IS NOT VALID CRITICISM OF THE SHOW

When It Rains
Year of the OTP June! The prompts I used are: sick fic – accidental love confession – downpour
Set in season 6, fluff with a hint of Diana angst. And a sick Mulder. Wc: 1,552

Dressed in an old t-shirt and sweatpants that are just the tiniest bit too big on her small frame, she elbows open her apartment door, a basket full of dirty laundry in her arms. In her hallway, she almost crashes into a soaking wet, swaying figure. Just as she’s about to berate him for loitering in front of her apartment, she realizes who exactly it is.
“Mulder?” she asks, setting down her basket.
“Oh hey,” he says as if surprised to see her here. In her hallway. In front of her apartment.
“You’re soaking wet,” she says, watching the puddle by his feet increase. He’s going to ruin the carpet. But there are more important things to focus on. “What happened to you?” Instead of an answer, he just sighs and shrugs. Looking more closely at him, she notices that his pupils are shot. Drunk. He has to be drunk. Right?
“It’s raining,” he says simply.
That’s the understatement of the year. They’re currently experiencing an exceptional downpour and according to meteorologists, the rain is not going to stop until the morning. One of the many reasons Scully decided to stay home this Saturday night. She’s still getting used to having weekends to herself. With the X-Files closed, more often than not, she finds herself with free time now. At least it gives her enough time to do her laundry.
“Come inside.”
“You were on your way out,” he says.
“I was just doing laundry,” she explains, trying to help him out of his leather jacket. It’s heavy with rain. “Let’s get you into the bathroom, Mulder. Take off your shoes.”
“Hm?” He’s just standing there, still swaying.
“Your shoes,” she says patiently. “Take them off.”
“Oh,” he says, staring down at his feet. “Right.”
“Were you out drinking?” It’s none of her business, she thinks. Except he came here, to her apartment. She has a right to know. The last time this happened, she found herself on a plane to Texas, and later out of a job. She shudders, remembering everything that came after. Her memory is still spotty in places. Another apartment, another hallway, and a bee. A kiss that never was. Then there’s a lot of icy darkness in her mind. Even now, months later, the frostbites sometimes nip at her when she least expects it.
“I’m not drunk,” he says, but his words are slurred.
“It’s okay, Mulder.” She tugs on his arms to get him to the bathroom, but he’s heavy, and he’s unwilling. He’s shaking his head so hard that she fears he’s going to crash into the wall.
“Not drunk,” he repeats. “I wasn’t feeling well,” he says. “I just- there were pills in the medicine cabinet. I took them. The first didn’t do anything, so I took something else.” Her alarm bells are ringing.
“What did you take?” she asks and he just shrugs.
“I thought it was Tylenol. Wait. I think the other was Benadryl. My throat was so itchy.”
“Mulder, you don’t have any allergies.”
“They make me sleepy,” he says and yawns as if to prove his point. “I take them sometimes. You said I shouldn’t take sleeping pills.” She cracks a small smile, glad that he listened to her for once.
“That’s good, Mulder. You said your throat is itchy?” He nods and as she looks closer at him, she realizes that he does look sick, not drunk. The area around his nose is pale, while his nose itself is red. She touches his cheeks and they’re warm to her touch. So is his forehead. “When did you start feeling sick?” And why didn’t you call me, she adds mentally.
“Yesterday,” he admits. “Thought I was just tired but,” he pauses and coughs. “I didn’t want to bother you. Now I’m coughing all over you, making you sick, too.”
“Mulder, if you were feeling sick yesterday it’s very likely you already infected me anyway.”
“You’re the medical doctor,” he says with a drowsy smile. He may not be drunk, but he’s definitely not sober either.
“I am,” she says with a soft smile. “That’s why you need to listen to me. We need to get you out of these wet clothes. Where’s your umbrella?”
“Didn’t bring one,” he says, letting Scully lead him toward the bathroom. “Wasn’t raining when I left. It started when I was at Diana’s.” Her fingers were just busy unbuttoning his shirt but now pause.
“Diana.” She repeats the name slowly, every letter bile on her tongue. Mulder, clueless to her emotional turmoil, nods and goes on.
“She kept hanging up on me,” he says. "I tried calling her. I didn't want to go over there."
“It’s okay, Mulder,” Scully says, distracting herself with undressing Mulder. Despite having worn a jacket, his shirt is so wet that she has to wring it out. “You don’t owe me an explanation.” But her mind is spinning. If he was at Diana’s, why is he here now? Why did he leave? Her thoughts are so out of control that she doesn’t notice Mulder tug at her t-shirt at first. He’s shirtless himself and his jeans are already unbuttoned. She’d prefer if he took his pants off himself, but he seems preoccupied with what’s happening in his head.
“I went to her apartment,” he says and Scully wishes she could just cover her ears and not hear what he has to say. No matter how childish that instinct may be. “I wanted her to listen to me. You always listen to me, Scully.” He says, touching her cheek. His skin is warm against hers and she has to stop herself from leaning into his touch.
“What did you want to tell her?” Scully asks in spite of herself.
“That she needs to stop. That she needs to listen. I’ve been trying to tell her, to explain it to her. About you.”
“About me?” Again, he nods. He breaks into a smile and she’s overwhelmed by the instinct to pinch his rosy cheeks. His hair, drying already, is sticking in every direction imaginable, making him look cuter than he should be.
“She doesn’t listen,” he repeats. “I keep trying to tell her that I- she wants things that I don’t want.” Her roaring heartbeat almost drowns out his voice.
“I went to her apartment to tell her that I love- that I love you.” Her eyes grow wide at his confession. He’s staring at her, calm as ever. “Can you believe she hung up on me?” She's not sure he realizes what he just admitted. What he confessed to her. He loves her. This isn’t the first time he’s saying it, of course. The last time wasn’t long ago. It was right after they saved him from the Bermuda Triangle. He’d been high on painkillers then, too. But she can’t deny that he’s said it twice now in about as many months.
“She said I was nuts.” He’s grinning from ear to ear now. As if Diana calling him crazy for loving Scully was the greatest compliment he could imagine. “Nothing I haven’t heard before. I stood my ground, Scully. Said I love you. Did you know that? I didn't mean to blurt it out just now, but... I love you. I needed Diana to know it, too. I needed her to understand it. You know what happened next?” She shakes her head gently, unsure whether she wants to know what he’s going to say next.
“She threw me out. Asked her for an umbrella and she slammed the door in my face.”
“I’m sorry, Mulder.”
“Is this what you always wear on weekends, Scully?” He touches the hem of her shirt and she blushes.
“Sometimes,” she says. “It’s my laundry outfit.”
“I like it. I like it a lot.”
“I think you’re delirious.”
“I think you might be right,” he admits, coughing again.
“Can you take off your jeans or do you need help?”
“I wouldn’t mind help,” he says with a grin, “but I can do it myself.”
“I’m going to get you something dry to wear,” she says, squeezing his shoulder. She uses the moment away from Mulder to take a deep breath and sort her thoughts. Tonight, she won’t contemplate what any of this means. But she knows she’ll have to hide a grin the next time she sees Diana Fowley.
When she returns to the bathroom, Mulder is naked. She averts her eyes, even though he doesn’t seem to mind. He helps her into the sweatpants and the t-shirt. When they’re done and Mulder is dressed, he smiles at her warmly.
“We're matching," he says proudly. He's right, too. "You’re not going to throw me out, are you?” he asks.
“If I did, I’d give you an umbrella.”
“Thank you, Scully.” His grin is accompanied by another cough, reminding her that it's very likely he'll feel worse in a couple of hours. She'll be there for him it that's the case. Just like she hopes he will be there for her when she catches whatever is ailing him.
He’s asleep almost as soon as his head hits the pillow. She watches him for a moment before she presses a kiss to his forehead. I love you, too, she thinks but doesn’t dare say. Not yet, anyway.

They wanted him to steeple, mostly, though he’d be doing cross country in the fall, and Lando had pinky promised him, mid-distance guy to mid-distance guy, that if he wanted to get into the 3k flat indoor then he would get him in.
Oscar didn’t really want to ask how he planned on doing that. Felt safer not to ask.

I was tagged in this game by @twig-tea, appreciate the tag but also bestie this is so many questions.
1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore?
Is this the part where I have to confess to being a superwholockian in my past? I no longer care about JohnLock or DeanCas, the evil is defeated!
2. Which ship would you consider your first one?
Oh it was almost certainly Beast Boy and Raven from Teen Titans
3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?
Magnus Bane x Alec Lightwood from Shadowhunters, I wrote a bunch of fanfics for them when I was younger. I did not anticipate how many views I would get on a couple of them, so that was cool! (shameless plug to check out my AO3 account, Sent2TheBeast. Unfortunately most of my fics are now locked due to how people feed content to AI software)
4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over?
Do I actually remember? No. Was it most likely something from Harry Potter or Supernatural? Yeah.
5. Did you ever get into ship discourse?
Baby, I write BL essays on tumblr, I think the minute I posted my first analysis I was signing up to ride the discourse wave.
6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently?
Honestly any incestuous plot lines I am typically very against: Wincest, Brallie, etc.
7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?
I read a beautifully written VegasPete fic by the wonderful @ginnymoonbeam
8. Currently, do you have any OTPs?
How much time do you have? Kurosawa x Adachi/Karan x Achi; Togawa x Nozue; Minoru x Yutaka; PatPran; MorkTawan; Han Baram x Im Hantae; Shin Ki Tae x Lee Wan; Kenji x Shiro; etc etc etc
9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?
Not that I can think of, but I will just give a generic shout out to all the queer baiting of old. BUT I DO HAVE COUPLES I AM EXTREMELY MAD ABOUT GETTING TOGETHER. AkkTheo and SandRay I am looking at you!!!
10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?
I will give this one to @bengiyo. I was not a fan of Korn and Intouch from Until We Meet Again because of how one-sided the relationship seemed to me. But conversations with Ben gave me deeper insights in to Korn and have had me reconsidering my impression of that relationship.
11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?
Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David would almost certainly get me cancelled considering Ziva's service history in Israel. Glad I was able to free myself of the cop/military propaganda that is NCIS when I entered high school.
12. What was your favorite crack ship?
I don't really embrace the crack culture, I am not a huge fan of crack vids, crack fics, crack ships
13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?
Of all the couples I read fanfics for, I think Malec from Shadowhunters was probably my most frequently read.
14. What most of your ships usually have in common?
I feel like 99% of the ships that have wormed their way in to my brain to the point of obsession (aka me making fan art, writing fics, etc) lies in the complexity and opposition of character's to one another. For example:
In Shadowhunters, the tension between Magnus being a warlock and Alec being a Shadowhunter and how they navigate the fact that The Institute and his own family have caused and continue to cause active harm to Magnus and the other Downworlders.
In Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom, the extremely contradictory nature of Kaz Brekker's existence and how that impacts his relationship with and to Inej. I wrote a number of Kanej fics because I could not stop thinking about the fact that Kaz and Inej want to touch each other, want to be intimate with each other, and their extensive trauma makes that damn near impossible.
In Pushing Daises, the inability to touch, the tension between loving someone so much and knowing that to touch them would be to kill them is just so fascinating.
In The Old Guard, Joe and Nicky having been together for 900 years when we meet them so you wouldn't think there is a complex tension there per say, but they were on opposite sides of The Crusades and had to work through that to cultivate a literally eternal love. And not just that (honestly less so that) but the tension between their line of work as mercenaries, their immortality, and knowing that one day, completely unannounced that immortality will stop. I could not stop thinking about how many times those two have had to watch each other die, waiting and wondering if their lover would come back to life this time around.
In Bad Buddy, Pat and Pran not only having to navigate their relationship with the incredibly antagonistic relationship between their parents but Pat having to parse through all these years of competition, hatred, fighting, to understand that all this time he's loved Pran.

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship?
Lack of reciprocity. This is not to say the relationship has to be completely balanced. I don't think that it is a realistic possibility that every aspect of a romantic relationship exists in perfect harmony. But I've written about this before, my theory as to why so many BL boys get sick, in order to allow the person who has received more of the support throughout the show to care for their partner. I am a very outspoken Enchante anti because I hate Theo so fucking much. Theo's incompetency and Akk's incessant need to help him got Akk fired from his job, Theo lied about Enchante, and Theo moved back to France and made Akk work on his own to earn enough money for a motherfucking plane ticket to France. None of that being marketed as romantic is okay with me.

Don't know if I would call it art actually but I am currently making myself some Discord emojis of Aon aka Knife Queen aka Blorbo Girl.
That's the first one I got done. Because smirking is very important 👆 will do 3 or 4 more I guess. Laughing, something sad, angery and what ever inspiration brings along the way.

The Dogtown Noir pics where fun to do but I noticed real quick that I need a lot of focus to get some good shots. And I don't have that most of the time. I heard there is actually a city outside of Dogtown KEK maybe I will go there next and do some photos 💫
WRITING
Putting this last so no one is forced to read the wall of txt. I still have a lot of unfinished ramblings but nothing that would make sense to show. I started to write some small bits for my own amusement and positive vibes based upon a soft OTP promt list (or what ever it was called). It's only stupid conversations and I think it's nothing for AO3, so probably just throw it here whenever I finished one.

"Oh my god I hate this so much..."
Aon pulled on his black bolero jacket and looked at herself in the mirror next to the large closet in Kurt's apartment on the top floor of the Sapphire with an unimpressed expression.
"You don't like what I've chosen for you?" Kurt asked, still beeing busy in the bathroom.
"No... yes. I mean. No, I don't like all of this." She grimaced a little more and turned around to look at the elegant suit trousers and expensive shoes she would be wearing tonight.
"Fancy clothes, putting up with brainless snobs at glamorous parties. Pretending to care about what they do and who they are. I really don't know why you like that so much."
"You'll have fun, I'm sure of it." Kurt came back to the main room and took his leather harness, which was still lying on the bed, and put it around his shoulders. He chose a more elegant garment than usual for tonight aswell, as Alyona had demanded, but he wasn't going to abandon all of his military habits.
"I'll have fun at the bar. I know that for sure."
She was still tugging at the jacket, as if she was trying to minimize the revealing neckline of the top.
"And you had to pick something so provocative, didn't you? Well, at least it's not a glittery cocktail dress. You could have worn that yourself."
Kurt laughed heartily at the last comment, took a few steps over to her and fastened the last buttons on the collar of his black shirt.
"You look fantastic."
That didn't really convince her.
"Oh, shut the fuck up. I feel like I'm playing dress-up."
Kurt was now standing behind her, looking in the mirror with her, still smiling.
"Well, in a way, we do, don't we? If you want to get close to your prey, you have to wrap yourself in it´s fur."
Aon let out an amused snort. "You're such a poet Kurt, it's almost unbelievable," she replied sarcastically.
"Still, I'm glad you decided to come along. I don't think it will do you any harm to see something other than the workshop." He put his hands on her hips and leaned forward a little. At least he liked the sight of the two of them in the mirror.
"Hmmm, what I wouldn't give to spend all night fixing that Chimera-Junk gathering dust in your warehouse...", she replied with a playfully dreamy tone.
"You enjoyed the evening at the Totentanz. You can't deny that."
"You're seriously comparing your fancy-pants party to the thing at the Totentanz?"
"It was a party, you didn't want to go and you ended up enjoying it."
"Maybe because even the smallest circute in Maelstrom is a more interesting conversation partner than everyone you've invited today."
Kurt leaned a little closer to her.
"If you decide to stay here after all, I want you to come to every party. Not because I like to see you suffer, but because then I would finally have something to look forward to in the evening. Pleasant company and someone I can rely on."
"Don't get too excited. I might already have a plan to ruin everything."
"That doesn't matter. It would definitely still be a night to remember because you were with me."
Her face twisted into a grimace.
"Damn, you're such a suck-up. No wonder you've got all these snobs eating out of your hand."
"But the difference is that I mean my compliments to you seriously."
Kurt couldn't help but laugh again when he noticed Aon blushing and quickly turning away from the mirror so he wouldn't notice.
"Okay, let's get going. The sooner we get there, the sooner I can say I've tried long enough."
She hastily disengaged from his embrace and walked straight towards the door.
He followerd her right away.
"You stay until the end. I'll tell the bartender to keep you 'entertained'."
Think most of the ppl I would tag have already shown their awesome stuff lately so I will skip this time. See you next time!
