Happy October 3rd i recently watched through fullmetal alchemist brotherhood for the first time, and going in I already knew of maes Hughes SPECIFICALLY because he has the same voice actor as leorio, and because they used to get compared a lot

And because I watched hxh years ago when I was still in the habit of compulsively spoiling everything for myself, I believed, WHOLEHEARTEDLY, that if hughes was going to die I would already know about it

So even as he was actively dying I was like “damn i wonder how he’ll get out of this” and it didn’t occur to me that he maybe Would Not until they found his body and they had the funeral

And even then I was kind of holding my breath for like a necromancy subplot for like a few episodes after that

There's... a lot in the October 3rd entry, you all weren't kidding, but one thing that struck me is that Dracula says "Your girls that you all love are mine already". Does he not know that they already killed vampire!Lucy? Or is he counting her as still being "his", because he’s still the one who took her from them even though she's no longer undead for him to command?

What strikes me every time I read Renfield's death is how needlessly cruel it is.

The Count promised him things, presumably including being a vampire, and made a point of not doing it. He could have bitten him so he'd rise again after he died. But instead he murdered him with blunt force.

He makes a point of not fulfilling the one thing Renfield wants.

sorry but i can’t believe they just ditched renfield. i mean i know it’s an emergency and he’s dying anyway but he’s not dead yet!!! you don’t think he deserves to not be alone in his dying moments???? you could’ve left one person there! or called in an attendant or SOMETHING. but no of course not because he’s insane and therefore doesn’t count as an actual person. btw i blame van helsing for this the most bc he’s the one who told everyone to leave and they all seem pathologically incapable of saying no to him and also i don’t like him anyway and rationality is overrated. also van helsing was the one who was all like ‘i think he knows something and that’s why we should try to help him. no other reason.’
