CARMEN LOPEZ's mechanics in RESIDENT EVIL 1996/HD remaster ( inspired by @mandalhoerian / x )

the player will meet carmen and have her as a companion only as chris. in the jill campaign you will only meet carmen, when finding chris in his cell, as he is locked in there with her. as jill, carmen will however give you a key card, if you promise trying to find her sister. when you find and kill carmen's zombified sister, jill will tell her what happened when rescuring chris and her. when you play as chris, you will meet carmen in ROOM 001 in the RESIDENCE/GUARDHOUSE. after the cutscene where chris meets wesker again, chris hears crying and wants to investigate. there is no way the player can leave the area without investigating, as chris will keep saying 'sounds like crying. maybe someone is still alive!' after meeting with her, carmen agrees to accompany you and for a while you have a companion on your side, but you can also tell her to stay in a safe room. carmen's only weapon is the baseball bat, yet she acts as a pure distraction when more than one zombie is in the room and does not engage in any fights. if a zombie tries to bite chris and he has no defense weapon like a taser or dagger, carmen will beat the zombie away from chris with the bat, but this only works if carmen is in close range. she will also only do this from 'very easy' to 'normal' difficulty setting. on 'hard' carmen will only defend herself. carmen never kills zombies. she beats or pushes them away. if chris does not kill a zombie who is focused on carmen, she will get bitten after defending herself two times, which results in a 'You Have Failed' screen. carmen can also be used as an inventory expansion, but you have to go to her and interact with her to get a resource and be able to use it. if it isn't a medical resource, you cannot interact with it, if you do not transfer it first into your inventory. if you use a first aid spray or herbs in her inventory, you will get an animation where she heals you. after reaching the UNDERGROUND LABORATORY, carmen runs forward and for a short time you are seperated from her, until you find her standing infront of a locked lab door. she does not move from the door until you find a way to open it. here the game can go forward in two ways: if the player chooses to console carmen, after killing elena, carmen survives and you get an extra minute when the countdown to the detonation of the mansion is set off. you can also get jill out of her cell immediately after reuniting with carmen. if you choose however to tell her 'that she should have never trusted umbrella', carmen will snatch away chris' gun and kill herself. however you choose, carmen won't accompany you anymore. either carmen will stay with Jill after freeing her or she will go ahead and promises to find a way out of here. EXTRA (for hd remaster version): if you manage to save rebecca, jill and carmen in one run, you will get the achievement 'ladies man'.

okay!! i'll answer what i can/what i'm comfortable with!!

carmen lopez (at your worst): carmen is an exception to my usual ocs because she's not usually burpy/gassy. she's very well mannered in that sense. the events in the story were very much an exception for her (and an embarrassing exception at that). but i mean when she does burp out loud (which is almost never. unless she physically can't, all her burps will be a muffled, closed mouth burp) it's not bad. she's definitely not exceptional at burping, especially compared to all my other ocs, but her burps certainly aren't weak either. but she'd rather die then let anyone know that.

zoe popadopoulos (at your worst): the events of the story were out of the norm for zoe too, but for completely different reasons. since she's an angel, she's not usually able to burp. like her body is perfected and therefore doesn't need to release excess air like that. the only reason she was so gassy that night was because she was taking some of the discomfort from carmen, which inevitably made her just as gassy as carmen. but unlike carmen, she actually really enjoyed herself. it wasn't often her body got to make all those sounds, so she was reveling in it while she could. in fact, there were times she had to physically cut off the burp she was letting out because she didn't want carmen to get suspicious of how long they were getting. but if it were up to carmen though, she would've let those burps keep going on and on and on and on and... you get it.

princess addison (courtesy and poise): addison is a princess, and she takes that position seriously. she was taught manners and poise from the moment she left the wound, and it is very important to her that she maintains that regal image. however, she was also born with an inate ability to belch with more force than should be possible for any human at all, let alone a human as small and fragile as her. however, unlike most, if not all, of my other ocs, she has complete control over her burps. she only burps when she wants to. and she usually never does. after all, princesses don't burp. it's unbecoming! but in some very rare instances, her abilities are necessary. and trust me, her burps leave an impression every time.

king ian, king rupert & king hunter (courtesy and poise): big, burly, and immature men with big, burly, and immature burps. they can only burp after eating/drinking something, so their burps are usually very wet and gurgly.

nareg orog (impressions): while she's nowhere near thalia's level of... everything involving burps, she's definitely a talented burper herself. as an ogre, it's just in their biology to let loose with burps that shake the earth, and she's not shy about it either! in fact, one of the orog family's traditions is a mother-daughter burping contest at the end of every meal. every meal. narag's burps are especially chunky, like pebbles are rattling around in her stomach. it's one of the things she's most proud of, since it makes her burps so unique!

darion orog (impressions): darion wasn't much of a burper until he met narag. darion was head over heels for narag the moment he laid eyes on her, and her constant burping didn't change it one bit. in fact, he found himself burping more and more as a way to impress her. while he doesn't go around burping all the time like his wife and daughter, when he does let one out, he does so without shame. the thing that makes darion's burps so unique is how deep they are. being part giant, it just kinda came with the territory. but yeah i cannot emphasize how deep his burps are. no one in my lineup of ocs can come even close to his bass.

abigail longfoot (crashing the party): i'm not gonna lie i'm still trying to come up with an explanation as to why she was able to burp the way she did that night. i will say though that like carmen, this was definitely out of the ordinary for her. she had never burped like that before, and i'm still trying to decide if she'll be able to do it again. so... maybe i'll get back to you on this.

the faren twins (crashing the party): they're average burpers themselves at best but they don't mind. they're much more interested in hearing others burp anyway...

Could any of your original characters successfully perform the Sprite Challenge, wherein they would attempt to chug an entire bottle of Sprite or another carbonated drink quickly and without burping a single time until after they’ve drunk all of it?

i'm feeling bored today so i'm gonna do more than you asked and go through all of my burpy ocs and tell you if they could successfully complete this challenge or not. for this, i will only consider those that would actually have sprite to drink (so sorry to all my old timey princesses :///) enjoy!!

sierra watson: yes!! she has incredible control over her burps, so while it'd be painful, she'd be able to complete the challenge fairly easily. but the aftermath... poor conner.

ashley fox: no. she'd only try this because someone on stream asked her to, and after only few sips she'd be burping up a storm. lily has to do all she can not to laugh so that it's not picked up on stream, but then again she's not sure if anything can be heard over those insane belches

thalia orog: i mean... do i even need to say it?? we've seen the devastation she can cause when she holds her burps in just in general, so to pair that with sprite?? how would anyone survive??

carmen lopez: she would never attempt it, but if she were to, she'd be very bad at it. she'd accidentally let out a big burp after a good amount of gulps and become so flustered and embarrassed that she'd run to her room and hide in shame for hours.

zoe papadopoulos: she would also never attempt it, but if she were to, she'd be able to complete it without any struggle at all. as an angel, she doesn't burp naturally, but only when she takes some of the gas troubles from carmen. so she'd chug the whole bottle in one go and continue on as if nothing had happened.
