i have a question! (but is mostly me rumbling)
i genuinely wanna know why this was one of the first promo photos to come out if they weren't hiting a sydcarmy at least something not so *platonic* in season 2? (granted, this scene is featured in the first episode of season 2)
bear with me (pun intended)
this photo just might have confirmed them with capital letters, cause...
why would they give us this photo? this scene????
"uhmm, w-what are you gonna..."
silence. they stare at each other. then,
"i have no idea"
he doesn't wanna go home, he's dragging this moment in their little moment. He wonders if he can do anything to just not go home. Maybe he can do something, he can do something with sydney and just not go home, but i think maybe he knows it feels diferent somehow (why it doesn't come out as easy as when he so nonchalantly just asked if she wanted to work on his apartment?)
the scene alone has so many unspoken things, i mean, you could NOT convince me that carmy wasn't about to ask her out here! the pauses? the silence? the awkwardness between them? his face watching her leave? him froze in place thinking about how he messed that up? I could literally hear carmy's loud as hell thoughts from the other side of the screen!
this wasn't just two colleagues naturally asking what the other is up to after work for a pint, this is something else.
and then later we see him anxious at his apartment, thinking about work work work (he really didn't want to come back alone to his apartment, huh?) and then he comes back and syd and nat are already there thinking the same as him.
but mostly, i just wonder why this scene in the begining of the season. we see most series and movies using the narrative principle called chekov's gun, which is according to google: 'any seemingly unimportant element that becomes significant later on in the story.' i like to think that fits perfectly in this case where we see an interesting dynamic between them in the begining of the season, syd's come back to the bear and carmy can't be doing the shit he was doing in s1, so yeah, something's changed (specifically in this scene where carmy is very awkward around her. why?).
having that in mind, we later see carmy then go on to date claire, feel something's not right, have a panic attack, only to maybe put a name to what he was feeling in episode 1, hence, his very own chekov's gun.
idk, maybe you guys have a more reasonable answer to this, but i'm thinkng these thoughts lately

hi ive been putting this off as long as i can because idk how to ask for help but i really need it rn. some of you might know, i was homeless since oct 2022. we found a place and have moved in at the start of this month (july).
unfortunately this morning i was on my way out to work only to find that my car had been repossessed due to me falling behind on the payments (see: being homeless). i had to call off today but i need my car to get to work the rest of the week. im not asking for a specific amount because i need a lot and this will most likely be ongoing.but ANYTHING helps. please share even if you can't help out financially. words of encouragement/advice also appreciated. thank you 🙏🏾🫶🏾

Imagine the awkwardness if in that Mikoto Prank Show ask however, if no one but Es and Jackalope were in on it… And they somehow got everyone’s crimes perfectly right.
LMAO 💀💀💀
Jackalope and Es are in on it, and they don’t even need to guess them -- the machine can be legit! As any good businessmen, they put this newfound life-changing technology to good use: reality TV. They get a hold of 10 random people, planning on editing and splicing the videos to make up some crazy stories about crime and guilt and see how people react. They chose an range of people that might feel guilt over something -- they assume doctors feel bad for losing patients even though they did their best, or policemen regret the people they can't save, or chronically online people feel responsible for things they're connected to -- but that's all.
They get to Haruka’s interrogation and Es comes back to the team going, “hey, did you guys watch the video? Crazy that this guy killed animals, huh.” Then Yuno’s rolls around and they go “shit I never would have thought she was the type for that, now she’s overthinking her abortion…” Then Fuuta. “What are the chances that so many people feel incredibly guilty over someone else’s death? Does everyone feel a secret responsibility for something that happened indirectly?” Then Muu. “Okay that was pretty direct. How did we find these people? Should we contact anyone about this? No? Okay.” Shidou. “?????” By the time they get to Mahiru’s interrogation and she readily admits to murder they’re like “yeah okay, I had a feeling.”
The funniest part is, Mikoto is the team's only hopeful case! From the very beginning, they hear him talking around the prison and everyone breathes a long sigh of relief. “Finally! A normal, not-murdery guy! Our show is saved! We have someone real to prank!” … And then.
(Slightly off-topic but I’ve always wanted to write a comedy normal au in which Es befriends the cast in different areas of their life; Amane is transferred to their school after her incident, Mahiru works in a nearby store, Shidou works at their local clinic, etc.) One by one they get close enough to Es to really trust them, and each confess to being involved with a death that was either indirect or very well covered up. The first few times it’s a beautiful moment of trust and vulnerability, but after like five confessions Es is sitting there like “seriously?? How does this keep happening????”)

omg... just sent my resignation of membership to the political party i've been a member of for more than 8 years. a third of my life. i've spent countless hours volunteering for them on the board of my hometown chapter and during election campaigns; some of my partymates are basically family. but the party on a national basis have been eerily silent on palestine. the national leader wrote a long bullshitty op-ed titled "the palestinians are suffering, the jews are suffering" in which she refused to take a stance and failed to distinguish between jews and zionists. and also spent more time condemning the crimes of hamas than the crimes of israel.
i have considered leaving the party many times over the years. the fact that they can't take a firm stance on a genocide makes it abundantly clear that i don't belong here. fucking sucks, man. im not sure where i go from here.
