They, like the IRS, would have their own enforcement services. The DIRS always get what you owe, even if it means selling parts of you to do so. Most of the time, they are calm and reasonable, setting up payment plans, offering exemptions, and seeming like the "nice" division.

But then, if you ignore these nice polite openers, you have to deal with the Collectors. The DIRS's version of a Collection Agency for your debt.

Tarn has always made sure to turn all their wage stubs and bills and receipts over to Kaon in a timely manner and let him handle it. Now, though, he forgot. And he's been ignoring calls and burning mail while he sulks. Unfortunately, Tesarus and Helex "took care" of an intruder who was a DIRS worker approaching as a last step. They didn't recognize the logo.

The Collectors have been dispatched, and Tarn has a musuem of unreported loot and drugs he's about to get discovered.

Nah all I can think is that war's over,Krok got his clinic, Nickel just do whatever whacky medics things she wants and sometimes the two drinks and complaints about whatever the heck their definitely adult teammates did in the past that pissed them off

They're just tired parents figures

And then one night they got waaaaaay too tipsy and just throw all logic to the window and get into it

After a while Nickel telling Krok she got a parasite before pulling out the baby scan

Let's say Krok now needs to take responsibility,after he woke up from the shock of course-

Hahaha. I love cantankerous friendship turned parenthood.

I imagine that Nickel is very practical about everything while Krok is the one who is more openly excited after he gets used to the idea. He is a good mech and very attentive to Nickel and her decision on the matter. He tells the Scavengers how eagerly swarm Nickel, who is already a pseudo-Scavenger anyway!

Nickel feels melancholy about things sometimes, the Scavs antics reminding her of her murder family and leaving her wondering how they would have reacted. Krok ends up being very open to letting her talk and vent about them and share how much she loved these genuinely awful people. It brings the closer.

D-Day is, of course, absolutely wild, and not when they thought it would be. There is probably some extra nonsense going on all while Nickel is getting the sparkling out of her. All in all happy ending even if Krok and Nickel don't become romantic (I am leaning towards they do because this has made me like this pairing) Nickel has a pretty solid friend and family group who have firmly adopted her into them.
