Sometimes I go a year with hardly reading anything and then I somehow read a fanfic long enough to be three novels in a trenchcoat in like 3 days, and I'm just sitting here like so uh hey brain, can we do that more often???

this is going to be a strange post bc im complaining about something that i technically headcanon so just bear with me.

the canon evidence that gets tossed around in regards to buff/strong (whatever you wanna call it) varian is that because he worked on a farm, he would have buffed up or have hidden strength. which might be true in some cases, but as person who did physical, manual labor out in the sticks growing up and currently does martial arts for fun...that's not really how that works tbh.

if you're someone who's doing constant lifting, then yeah i can see that, but by the time varian is 14 he's not even working on the farm anymore. he's on the run from the law, and then he's in jail, and then he's working as the royal alchemist.

also this might be my httyd roots showing, but i always got the vibe that varian was kinda like hiccup in that he would be more inclined to invent something to do the work for him faster and smarter rather than doing things the orthodox way.

i def don't headcanon varian as this tiny weakling who can't do shit and i think it would be hilarious if he could deadlift hugo, but y'all know we can just headcanon that without screeching HE GREW UP ON A FARM HE HAS HIDDEN DEPTHS

It has nearly a million views and my fucking mom saw it on her fyp so i'm just like... how many people i know saw it 💀 how many people at my uni will have seen that tiktok???

But im also a bit tired of it, because while so many people did see it, i didnt even get 1% of that attention and then the people who did go out to check it, most didnt bother to leave a comment or reblog. Its all just a big hype and joke for them which is actually kind of painful, to me, as someone who spend days trying to write something i was really passionate about- to just get comments about a tiktok someone made im 10 minutes as a joke. Like, i really have nothing to do with the tiktok and its making me think, if someone took the time out of their day to read 14k words, and to leave behind a comment, why is that comment about the 2 minute video, not about the fic that they specifically went and seeked out??? Like haha yeah, ive seen it too, its cool, but what did they think of the story????? I have no possible way of imagining what goes through someones head while reading my stories, which is why feedback is so important and why I appreciate it so so much when people care enough to leave something behind.

You're really gonna tell me that a 14 yo can't be attracted to another (usually even fictional) 14 yo?? If you're an adult and it makes you uncomfortable to see such art or depictions of minors (which is totally normal), just don't interact with them? Block minors! Let them have a space to find identity and express themselves. And even if you are a minor yourself, just block them? Why is everyone's first reaction to call people put on ridiculous things rather than block them. The button is there for a reason. Curate your own social media experience.
