Also this seems like a perfect time to get this off my chest: The trend of ‘let’s take this goofy piece of media and make it DaRK and eDGy’ NEEDS TO DIE!

Loser Baby feels very reminiscent of the panic attack scenes from Velma
"Having a panic attack? Laugh at the fact I'm in love with you!" "Having a panic attack? Lemme slap you around and then kiss you!" "In an abusive relationship with your pimp? Suck it up, you're not the only one with problems!"
This is basically how the panic attack scenes in Velma and Loser Baby come across

I’m glad Scooby isn’t in that new Velma show because at least his character hasn’t been ruined by it. 🤦🏽‍♀️

ppl are comparing Wednesday to Velma
no thanks one is an adequate interpretation of Wednesday “Mommy’s Little Toadstool” Addams growing up and existing as a teenager. With natural teenage hormones and emotions making her not act like the baby we know and love from the 60s and 90s. Whose family still shows the same unconditional love for each other as always, just with some teenage angst in there bc if you try to tell me you never resented your parents for stupid reasons in highschool you are a Liar.
Velma is a disgrace to God, Scoobert Doo, and All Things Holy.
Calm your tits. They are not the same.

I know everyone hates Velma show for obvious and valid reasons but you have to give credit where credit is due! While the writers clearly don’t care about the original source material at all, you have to admit the animators put in a lot of work and heart for such a shit show. Some of those scenes are animated so well done and smooth. Animations is incredibly difficult, I can hardly draw stick figures.
Can you imagine working so hard on something knowing the internet is going to hate it? Like I hope they’re getting paid enough for this 😭
I think Alex Meyers made some amazing points about the animations in his video that I whole heartedly agree with and wish people talked more about! I know the show shits on EVERYTHING we adore about Scooby Doo, but I feel bad for the animators man. Some of this stuff is just downright beautiful and this talent is being literally wasted by people who do not care. It’s gotta suck.
Alex shows a scene of the show that look genuinely visually amazing in his video covering it. Can you imagine if these animators were given good material? Missed opportunity for sure, we NEED more good animated shows with the way streaming services are treating our poor animators.

Want an actually good (and good natured) adult parody of Scooby Doo?
Try “The Solve It Squad Returns” a stage play about a gang of former teenage sleuths reuniting to solve the case that got away…
I believe they also produced a sequel over zoom during lockdown, but I haven’t watched it yet.

when ryan gosling said (i’m paraphrasing) no one is allowed to complain about his version of ken unless the person complaining has had a real thought or opinion on ken in the last 10-20 years my reaction was : yeah man, you’re right. i really don’t give a shit about ken. thanks for reminding me. sorry i complained about the color of your hair.
but when someone tried to say something like that about the people criticizing the velma show my gut instinct was to say: fuck you, i love scooby-doo. clearly more than you do if you don’t have a problem with that shit show
and it wasn’t because i watch scooby-doo all the time or im a hard core fan who knows everything about it but because im a 20 year old american and i’m pretty sure my love for scooby-doo is genetic

VELMA is a good example of when the producer imposes themselves on the character rather than allow themselves to connect with a character.
MK thinks Velma is marginalized character but she fucked it up so much, and blind to her own bias, that she essentially marginalized and stereotyped every other character and so off the mark in her interpretation.
Daphne is the popular rich girl - so she must be mean. No, Daphne may be a damsel but she’s smart and outgoing and considerate and always open for adventure! She’s the fun one.
Fred is tactful and curious. He’s always seeking answers. He’s not dumb! Maybe a bit full about social cues but he’s ingenious with his many plans and schemes and pitching in solutions to problems because he’s a natural strategists who isn’t afraid to admit failure because it’s apart of the process!
Shaggy may be a bit *distracted* and not as brave but he’s the heart of the operation and you can’t sit here and say he’s not down for something new and exciting. He’s down for the ride and perhaps the voice of reason when the rest of the gang gets ahead of itself. Zoinks - evil sea monster? Yeah maybe let’s not jump head first into the water. (enter the genius of Fred)
Scooby is the moral of the group. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He’s a natural skittish Great Dane and like any other dog lover the gang will do anything to get their believed pooch back. He’s the comic relief and fresh breath of air when the danger gets overwhelming. A talking dog is exactly that - a talking dog. You don’t need to rationalize that.
Velma is the mean one! In a good way. No nonsense, natural skeptic voice of science who is a perfect match for optimistic Fred because she deduces first before jumping to some fantastical mythological explanation. Have you seen her in the old cartoons? She stares down villains in the face with no fear and reads them to filth!
That’s what makes them a great unit and natural team and fucking MK messed it up with her own narcissism that she discarded the natural material that made SCOOBY DOO such a staple icon.

also velma is getting a fucking season 2 while coyote vs acme is probs going to shelved and written off for tax write offs despite being finished.
fuck man this sucks. i still feel so bad for the staff, the director, the writers, the vas, the people singing that meep meep choir, and wile e coyote fans. i remember marvin had a whole wholesome christmas movie which ended up being cancelled as well and got sad about that (also marvin not having much screentime in space jam 2, being a marvin the martian stan is suffering sometimes).
also please don't hate watch velma season 2, if you want to hate watch just look up reviews or clips on youtube...that'll just give warner bros, hbo max, and m*ndy k*ling more motives to make season 3 a thing. I'm not even a huge fan of Scooby Doo but i also still feel so fucking bad for scooby fans too right now...

Thinking about what that cursed HBO show did to my beautiful Fred Jones is making me want to go on a binge in spite, but instead of watching the monstrosity of a show that slandered him, watching EVERY SINGLE piece of Scooby Doo media I can find that ISN'T that show.

Anyway, if you want lesbian Velma, go watch Trick or Treat Scooby Doo. And if you really want dark and edgy Scooby Doo, go watch Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated.

There are a lot of things about Velma I don’t like but the fact the jokes I’ve seen advertised aren’t funny is one of the things I hate the most
It tries to do meta humor but it’s for the sake of being meta and that makes things so painfully unfunny
Like the “joke” where Velma says 420 is “code for adults who still watch cartoons”
Like…you’re making fun of the adults watching your adult cartoon. How is that meant to be funny to your audience? Not only that but the punchline is so lackluster.
420 is a weed joke. What does that have to do with adults watching cartoons? There is no correlation here, and it causes everything to fall flat. All you want is a pat on the back for a witty joke that isn’t even witty.
If you want to make an edgy scooby doo cartoon at least make it fucking funny

After what happened regarding the show "Velma", I think it's safe to say that we owe Scrappy Doo an apology, turns out he's not the worst thing to happen to Scooby Doo.
I mean yeah he can be annoying and is a result of the show's writers jumping the shark, but even I can tolerate him a lot more than this piece of crap.

I’m so glad I’ve seen multiple really cool & creative ideas floating around for an adult Scooby Doo tv show because frankly it’s something I’ve wanted forever & I was really worried that the poorly written atrocity that is ‘Velma’ would put a lot of people off the concept (which in itself is SO fun!!!) altogether & that would’ve been a huge shame. Maybe next time we’ll get it right y’all 👊

I grew up watching Mystery Incorporated, they taught me about family, friendship, and getting stoned and eating a bunch of sandwhiches.
I won’t stand for this.
