Okay so. Diluc and Kaeya. People do like, realize that Kaeya legit told Diluc he was sent to infiltrate Mond for a hostile nation right? Like, Diluc isn’t pissed because of the timing (though I’m sure it didn’t help). Kaeya straight up told him that he was an agent of Khaenri'ah and that his loyalty may not be to Mond. As far as Diluc is concerned Kaeya is literally an enemy agent. And you can’t say that he should realize Kaeya isn’t loyal to Khaenri’ah either. Kaeya takes pleasure in putting people in tough situations, Diluc is aware of this, and this is the toughest position ever. His brother, who he loves dearly, is an enemy agent who may be a huge threat to his country that he also loves dearly. But Kaeya seems torn, so he can’t disregard the possibility that Kaeya isn’t an enemy. But what if it’s all just a trick? What if Kaeya knew Diluc wouldn’t be able to turn him in? What if he’s laughing at Diluc’s soft heart? It’s an impossible situation and Diluc may love Kaeya but he also can’t trust him anymore.

Kaeya and Diluc will never be able to reconcile until Kaeya proves once and for all that his loyalty is to Mondstadt.

ok so the whole prophetic ‘kaeya hasn’t made a clean break w his past and has to make a big decision’ is most likely about khaenri’ah vs monstadt/teyvat, assuming that’s true, here’s my hypothesis for what he’ll choose

originally i thought it could be 50/50, or a case where he picks khaenri’ah but then switches teams and sacrifices himself for monstadt (probably saves his brother? would be rlly sad and hoyoverse like making us sad, would also b very cyclical + somewhat redeeming for the dumb decisions he’s made) however, since the new diluc lore i think he’ll pick monstadt, it might still be a bait and switch or he might even spy on khaenri’ah (again cos it’s super cyclical + would represent his acceptance of his past, and his choice to stop running from it, but also still the autonomy and freedom from the secret that’s been hanging over him his whole life) and then reveal he’s actually on monstadt’s side, but i’m 75% sure he’ll pick teyvat because in one of the letters it says that when diluc is away kaeya sometimes comes to stay at the winery and when he does he stays in his childhood bedroom (yeah ok maybe i nearly cried at this)

why do i think this means he’ll pick teyvat? it’s because it shows he still cares about his family and finds (some kind of) comfort in being in his childhood home, whether that’s bittersweet for him or if it’s a case of healing and learning either way it clearly shows he cares about his childhood in a positive way, also the fact he stays when diluc isn’t there (even tho he probably knows diluc wouldn’t turn him away even if he wanted to) shows he cares about their (sibling) relationship (don’t make it weird thank u) and diluc’s feelings, and he’s realised that he’s made shortsighted decisions and messed up before by not thinking about diluc’s feelings and he cares enough to change his behaviour because of it because ultimately they’re still brothers (and they should just fucking talk about the shit they both went thru + properly reconcile, but no they’re both repressed and won’t)

Teenluc takes the binder out of the box (what is this, online delivery?) that crepus put on his bed with a note "read the instructions well! Pov change to teen kaeya in front of the door waiting, then hears a faint shout of his name that gradually gets louder and boom door open.

"OH MY GOD", he starts circling diluc whos now taking a proud stance, hands on hips n puffing his chest n all. "Its like... GONE", keyaya says in astonishment.

"I KNOW right??!?????", dilu takes kaeyas hands in his. They start jumpin up n down while spinning or some bullshit idk what kids do HAHAHHA

so when kaeya says ( really early in the game ) he’s ‘blessed with certain linguistic powers’ ( in the context of giving traveler info about the abyss ) then does that mean he speaks abyss/khaenri’an?

and, if it does, that makes a lot of interesting possibilities considering the recent diluc lore?

i’m writing this as i think it so it’s probably slightly less coherent than the last one, but there’s so many possibilities, because diluc also says he can persuade/talk to the abyss mages ( i don’t remember exactly how he says it tho ) so either,

kaeya taught him khaenri’an or certain phrases in khaenri’an he’d need, and diluc learned to understand them (or remember what the mages said and ask kaeya)

or ( and this is more of a head canon? i feel like the first option is most realistic )

kaeya taught diluc khaenri’an when they were children and diluc still knows it ( at least enough to interrogate the abyss mages )

if the first option is true then it means kaeya and diluc probably meet in person relatively often so diluc can ask kaeya what things mean or so kaeya can tell diluc anything he’s heard ( cos i feel like he probably has abyss sources )

honestly the conclusion to this is just rag bros get along better than we thought they did, and also hoyoverse let them have a conversation please

( also potentially that kaeya and diluc pretend they dislike each other more than they do so that people would find it unlikely that they’re working together to help keep diluc being the darknight hero secret )
