@flovverworks - "Ah", surprise written on their face when they turn to leave the store, gift (bribe) for Owen in their hands when they come face-to-face with that harsh-looking youth again. But initial reaction quickly smoothens into a smile, looking nothing but pleased to see him. "Good day, we meet again." ( ONE pretend i sent this from akiras blog heart emoji TWO juza exclamation point emoji
“Ah”, much less surprised-sounding, yet nevertheless going wide-eyed upon seeing the person in front of them. Juza had simply wanted some time to treat himself - though he knew he’d certainly get plenty when he got back home, Izumi probably clamoring to prepare a sweet curry for him while everyone else had various ways of wanting to celebrate the man. Ah, it was such an unusual yet warm feeling, being the center of attention at all. Not that he didn’t enjoy it…yet it was suffocating enough to make him wave off his fellow college classmates at the dorms, using the known curry surprise waiting for them as an excuse to take the long way home. Yet he hadn’t expected to run into another person he knew in front of the station bakery.
“...Good day,” is the only thing said at first, rubbing the back of his neck, holding back any blunt responses in him to be polite to the other. From their last interaction, Akira had been nothing but kind to the younger man, so Juza wasn’t about to accidentally scare them away by being gruff…yet it was a bit embarrassing for them to find him here. Even if his love of sweets wasn’t a mystery at home, to them…So a light blush comes to his cheeks unknowingly.  “Akira, right? I guess we just keep running into each other, huh?” A tussling of his own hair, then he forces his hands in his pockets so he doesn’t fidget anymore (though maybe that makes him look a bit more intimidating…). “Never knew you took this station, though. I would’ve walked you over here last time if I knew…”

genus loci fic is here
Thank you so so so much to everyone who has been going insane about this with me. Especially @rozugold and @melissa-s23 for the artwork! I hope that this lives up to the hype even if it's just a small section of the AU's overall story. It was very fun to write. I cried like 7 times over it.

songs that just make me think of the life series OR my nonsense rambling about music and minecraft people
Northern Attitude by Noah Kahan for either Joel or Etho
joel bc
you build a boat, you build a life / you lose your friends, you lose your wife
just i feel like this could be used for any of joel’s life series especially double life and last life
last life bc he was a loner and he lost his life
double life bc he built a life with etho, he build a life with a boat, and he lost it all
and then etho with bdubs bc
if i get too close / and im not how you hoped / forgive my northern attitude / oh, i was raised out in the cold
i just feel like etho could be begging for forgiveness in his head after the snow fort and he’s a survivor man, that’s what he does, and he’s sorry for sending him out alone, he’s just cold
does that make sense?? i don’t think it does but it’s kinda making me insane so here you go :)

More hcs (most are also from ff)
— Mudwing dragonets aren't completely independent, and do receive education. Adult troops take apprentices to teach them their crafts. In capital dragonets are taught in family-owned schools.
— They believe in the afterlife: deceased dragons visit their sibs to comfort them appearing in the living world as birds.
— They are protective of sisters while they are pregnant with eggs. In some regions, prone to scavenger attacks, Mudwings keep guarding the nest until hatching
— They often put small venomous snakes like adders in their nests. Snakes get rats, martens, and other animals who try to harm the eggs and bite bigger animals like scavengers and dogs. Adders aren't that big of a threat to dragonets because of their size, and dragonets do not consider snakes nutritious enough to hurt, and they usually coexist, sometimes snakes are kept as a replacement for domestic cats.
— Mudwings, being omnivorous, have various festivals related to nature and earth in particular: opening of sowing season, honey and fruit fairs, harvest festival. The ones who live in the northern parts, selebrate awakening of the earth in spring and say goodbye to it in the first snow, as winter hibernation is also a part of nature cycle.
— They have rituals of welcoming loners into family as new sibs including special greetings, oaths, and exchanging gifts.
— While Seawings and Nightwings see in the dark, and Skywings see the farthest, Mudwings and Rainwings have the best color vision of all, due to having fresh fruits in their diet. They are better at differentiating hues. You need to see colors really well to tell good and ripe fruit from the rest. Former volcano Nightwings, who are primarily predators and scavengers, are more prone to colorblindness.
Tumblr media
— Chameleon could carry Leafwing genes due to either his parents both being related to them at some extent or him being a hybrid. This was the cause of his lack of color changing abilities, as we see he was having enough rest during his short naps to keep himself relatively healthy.

goldenflower and applefur!
(please :))
"...and we have welcomed a loner from the Northern Farms, Apple, into Shadowclan. She has recently taken on the name Applefur, signifying her commitment to the clan."
Raggedstar finished her announcements with eloquence, and Bluestar stepped forward, looking cold. Applefur hunkered near the back of the Gathering--she'd never been around so many cats at once. More than an entire clan, and Shadowclan was small to begin with!
Not to mention she'd been getting looks. Even though she'd hung back on coming to a Gathering until she cut her ears, it seemed every single cat here knew with a glance that she was an outsider.
"I'm guessing you're Applefur?"
The whisper comes to her mid announcement, from a ginger molly inching closer to her left. Applefur twitched nervously at the thought of conversation.
"We've also named two new warriors," Bluestar continued, "Lionheart and Goldenflower!"
"Here it comes," the molly whispered, whiskers twitching.
Somewhere in the crowd, Applefur saw a giant golden head fling back with a yowl of pride that had the entire Gathering chuckling. Her companion laughed too. It helped break some of the tension that Applefur simply couldn't shake.
"That's my brother," Goldenflower said. "I came back here because I thought he'd enjoy some attention. He got a bee sting, and he was so scared it would still be swollen by tonight."
"O-Oh, you're Goldenflower! Congrats. A-And that's, uh, kind of you! I just don't like the attention."
"I don't know many Shadows who are a fan of it," Goldenflower said, tail curling. "You'll fit right in."
She kneaded the grass nervously--Goldenflower was, quite honestly, one of the most gorgeous cats she'd ever seen. Every cat told her again and again that it was against the Warrior Code (Scorchwind scoffed once, remarking that rogues never could seem to grasp that rule) and she'd assured herself that would be simple. Well, why did no one tell her the mollies from other clans were so stunning?
But as quickly as this whirlwind of a night began, it ended. The leaders leapt from Great Rock, and she already could hear Raggedstar calling for the clan.
"Nice meeting you, Applefur!" Goldenflower trotted away, tail waving.
"Y-You too!" She hurried off to join her clan, giddier than she thought she'd be leaving.

P-51 and P-38 got drafted together, went to boot-camp together, but they got deployed to different theaters of war.
They write each other. The letters don't always go through. When they get a letter, they head back to their bunk, shirtless with dog-tags dangling, they read with a big smile on their face and a cigarette in their mouth
They rehash heroic football plays that sent the bleachers into uproarious cheers, sounding like a crowd ten times larger than the entire population of Littletown, Arkansas that they were.
Their letters also contain very very vague but pointed allusions to the times they spent together after the games were over and the other teammates went out with their girlfriends. Locker Rooms. Cornfields. And the Ice House. Oh, the Ice House…
P-51 bitches about the cold in western europe. P-38 bitches about the tropical humidity and mosquitos, and how he always forgets the name of the island he's on this week.
It'll be over soon, right?
P-38 says he overheard B-29 saying that the war is going to end one way or another very soon in a very confident manner. B-29's tone kind of spooked P-38, and he's not sure why. He prays that B-29 is right, but something feels off around here.
The censors blacked out most of that letter. P-51 is glad P-38 is alive…but what is going on over there?
P-51 wanders the aerodrome, and he spots B-17 and C-47 making eyes at each other. His hands ball up in fists in his pockets. Those two get to go home and get married, ring bearer, flower girls. Tuxedo, Wedding Dress.
All he gets is the Ice House. But oh…Oh, the Ice House…

Lockheed Constellation: goes by Connie, she will give you the classiest evening of your life.
Ekranoplan: she was going to be an Olympic swimmer for the Soviet Union, but when the USSR collapsed, so did she. she's a sad story, but she's happy in her retirement to see the younger generations taking an interest in her career, and trying to carry it on in some way.

I rarely have talked about Caillastair (Cail) for the sole reason I forgot about him (and other character developing stuff).
My man went from a planned tragic D&D NPC (homebrew campaign - He is the sole heir of a two disgraced fey from a bygone court, never to have known his parents but his shoulders burdened with the duty of keeping the legacy alive. Thea don’t look its spoilers DJKGHD) to now ‘tragic’ salad:
Burdened with a sheer impossible, vague Wyld Hunt, past the threshold of the Grove, he fell down many wrong path to pursue the answer or anything to guide him. False promises fed by the Nightmare Court, he raised within their ranks to the feared Knight of Frost - After a moment of self reflection - that was an ass beating by ImportantNPCs ingame - he left behind his withered roots and joined the Pale Reavers. There was a resemblance of companionship and respect within their ranks, enough to keep him on the right path.
Soon, his Wyld Hunt beckoned him once again to travel the roads alone, far into the northern shiverpeaks, to hunt down a dragon of ice and lies.
-----
hes very much a brooding loner whose head foliage underwent as many changes as his life

how you describe aegon conqueror s personality( from his actions ogcourse cause we know little about him from books ) before rhaenys death and specialy after her death? Ifeel rhaenys death was the major event to start the dynasty in generalher death give us weak aenys maegor the conflict jahaerys as king though he have 2 brothers older but died ..
So, like you said, we know incredibly little about Aegon the Conqueror's personality, and even in trying to parse that out through his actions alone is very hard because he kept any reasoning about anything incredibly close to the vest, and seems to have operated on a philosophy of doing what's best for the given time, like not attacking people who willingly bent the knee and being careful with the Faith of the Seven during his reign. That's why the end of the First Dornish War continues to fascinate so many people, because having such an overt display of emotion as well as an action with such murky motivations was incredibly out of character for Aegon, and speaks not only to the toll the war took on him, but also that whatever the contents of Nymor's letter was ended up being important enough to spur that kind of reaction.
Aegon before Rhaenys died seems to have been a pretty even keeled person. We know that he was reserved and incredibly private, that he seems to have gravitated towards solitude and enjoyed being by his lonesome (unlike his descendant and namesake Aegon III, Aegon the Conqueror's propensity for being alone wasn't borne out of any trauma that he couldn't overcome, he just seems like one of those people who liked to have his alone time, big mood). He also appears to value how long he's known someone into how dear they are to him, as his closest friend was Orys, who he grew up with, and he never entertained being romantically or sexually involved with any woman other than his sisters. He does value other people and cultivate relationships, he just doesn't seem to try and even get there until he knows they're worth it, and the people he's considered the most worth it are people he's known since incredibly early childhood (he's two years younger than Visenya and one to two years older than Rhaenys, so he's known all of them for practically as long as he's had long term memory, and he's around seven when Orys is born, which is still very young). According to George, he's also a dragondreamer, which might add to this type of setting apart that he does from other people, because if you were getting dreams of the future and what Must Be Done To Save Humanity, wouldn't you be a bit distant from most of the population? But unlike what a lot of this "loner, keeps to himself, only enjoys close family" type characterization might suggest, he also wasn't an intractable hardass who pouts around being all grimdark like bad fanon versions of Batman or smth. He does show an ability to trust other people and let them support him, considering how important Visenya and Rhaenys and Orys were to the war effort and ensuring ultimate victory, as well as the way he handed over most of the governance of the realm to Visenya and Rhaenys, treating them more like co-monarchs than simple consorts. He's neither merciless nor coldhearted either, he's perfectly willing to raise up people who fought against him if they admit they're beaten, and he never plays dirty or acts meanspirited or unfair in battle. He gives Harren the option of surrender, and I think it's said that, given that Torrhen immediately bent the knee without trying to provoke a battle, he doesn't use any of the defeated Northerners' swords in the forging of the Iron Throne. That speaks to an element of a forgiving nature, that he's someone who is able to look past the here and now and see ahead not just practically, but sympathetically as well. All in all, Aegon before the First Dornish War, and before Rhaenys's death is a pretty even person, calm and in control of his emotions and capable of feeling more than just lonesome, intelligent and resourceful but also forgiving and cordial, and while recalcitrant to get involved with people, clearly deep enough with his affections that he's willing to go to bat for them (considering that marrying Rhaenys wasn't part of the plan but he did it anyway).
And then, as we know, Rhaenys vanishes in Dorne. She either died in the fall or was taken into custody by the Ullers, who weren't great (as I've said in the past, my theory is that Rhaenys was in the hands of the Ullers into the Martells figured it out and got involved and removed her, and Nymor's letter was him informing Aegon that he was returning Rhaenys to Dragonstone to at least be able to die there and then be cremated in the last outpost of Old Valyria, which is why Aegon reacted so strongly, went to Dragonstone immediately, either to have a final goodbye or at least be there to greet her body, agreed to the peace shortly after, and was still on good terms with the Martells specifically for the rest of his reign) but for all intents and purposes, she is functionally dead in Aegon's eyes the second he hears about what happened over Hellholt. And it's clear that there are some shifts in how he is as a person in the aftermath. One of the big changes that comes from this is a vindictiveness and a vicious anger that was never present in him before. It's noted that Aegon only ever rode Balerion into out and out battle, and as I mentioned above, he was never overly cruel or monstrous in how he used him, only ever deploying him in proper battles against enemies in times of war ('oh but Harren' he warned the man and gave him ample time to get out, Harren's at fault for not listening). But what he did after Rhaenys dies is well beyond the pale of anything he did before. We already know he was upset enough about what happened to Orys, but that's nothing compared to the Dragon's Wroth. Aegon takes his giant fire breathing sentient nuke and torches every single fucking house on the entire Dornish peninsula, he razes practically the entire country to the ground for two years straight. He has bounties placed on the heads of Dornish lords, even if they weren't involved in shooting Rhaenys down over Hellholt, and he is deliberately waging psychological warfare on the people of Dorne as well by not burning Sunspear while cremating everything else, so that the Martells only people might think that something dodgy was going on and turn against them. That isn't battle, that isn't the fairness of war and the front, these are systematic and constant and vindictive attacks not unlike the fucking Blitz of WW2, in specific reaction to Rhaenys's death, and it's a big departure from everything we can possibly ascertain about the man from before that point. Aegon is Thee Dragon, yes, but he never exhibited that dragon's temper before now, while this created an outward aggression and fearsome rage that was entirely unexpected. The immediate aftermath of Rhaenys's death also appears to have created some??? mild passive suicidal ideation in Aegon????? maybe????
This is heavy conjecture on my part, but Aegon is attacked multiple times by people wanting to claim the bounty the Dornish put on his head, and he never once thinks that he should be better protected? He and Visenya are literally cornered in the street and barely make it out alive (and why are you even walking around on the street just willy nilly and apparently so unprotected that it's only Visenya's intervention that saved your life Aegon? dude?) and he still doesn't think he needs better guards. He literally says that he's fine and doesn't need a better detail until she actually draws blood on him herself, at which point he acquiesces, and even though he's the one who'd be getting the core protection of the Kingsguard, he leaves the choosing to her. And yes, part of that is probably trust in Visenya and her abilities, as well as her older sister instinct being kicked into huge overdrive, but it still reads a bit off. It wouldn't be that hard to extrapolate that Aegon, with the only woman he's ever loved dead and his currently only child completely shattered, might have started giving up on life a bit for a while (tho I will freely admit that this is on par with my 'Aegon II is touch repulsed and might have some Issues around physical intimacy' reading in terms of how subjective and very much a personal headcanon it is).
Aegon doesn't entirely lose himself though, as clearly seen with the end of the war. He still retains his "I'll do what's best" ideals enough to accept a peace delegation from Dorne into his capital city to see if they can come to peaceable terms, which is already a huge step forward from "turn the entire peninsula into the fucking blasted heath from The Colour Out Of Space". And he is still the most calm and deliberate in his inner circle, seeing as he insists on treating Deria with respect and deference for her station and the position she's holding as a peace messenger, while Orys wants to chop off her hand and others are literally saying he should force her into sex slavery. And while Visenya, probably the more hotheaded of the two (she's described as passionate, which, given his privacy and cool nature, doesn't seem to be something one can ever say about Aegon), was incredibly upset about Meraxes's skull being brought back, Aegon wasn't. We know Aegon was, obviously, upset about Meraxes being shot down and taking Rhaenys with her, I just nearly hit Tumblr's words per paragraph limit above talking about how distraught he was and what that grief brought out in him. It would have been entirely reasonable for him to take the return of Rhaenys's dragon's skull as an insult, as a slight, as a cruel and petty reminder of what he lost, like Visenya seems to have done. But he doesn't. He accepts it at face value as a gesture of good will and a token of amity from the Martells. It's not naïveté on his part, Aegon likely wasn't ever naïve, but it's that willingness to find a peaceable resolution, it's his calm determinism keeping him in check, because one of the other big changes from Rhaenys's death was likely more of an understanding of how to keep himself in hand, how to control himself. Someone who hates showing emotion and showcasing the innermost parts of himself to almost everyone, like Aegon clearly is, they're not going to respond to emotional situations and high stress and strong emotion by actually showing it, they're likely going to develop skills to make sure that they still don't show it to others, even if they're feeling a lot of things at the moment.
How Aegon was after the war in and of itself is a bit harder to try and figure out, because outwardly he doesn't seem to have changed much. For the rest of his reign, once peace is restored, he seems to have operated in pretty much the same way as he did before. But we also need to look at what actually happened in the war and its aftermath. The First Dornish War took nearly everything from Aegon that was worth taking. His best friend and half-brother was maimed, which left some lasting scars that might have affected their friendship given how embittered Orys was. Rhaenys, the woman he loved most, the wife he married not because he had to but just because he wanted to so much that he couldn't imagine life without her, vanished in Dorne, presumably killed in battle very suddenly and unexpectedly (tho that's up for debate, again, I have my theory). A relationship with Visenya, who even if she wasn't his desired wife was still his older sister and a member of his family, became incredibly cold and distant in the aftermath of what happened with Dorne, potentially due to the choices he made to end the war in the aftermath of Rhaenys's death. The one piece of Rhaenys that he has left, his own child, has such a complete mental breakdown that everyone thinks he's going to die and Aegon was apparently getting concerned himself, until he was able to get Aenys to bond with Quicksilver and recover. The circumstances of everything that happened, especially Aegon's need to keep Aenys close due to missing Rhaenys and his concerns over Aenys's health, as well as that aforementioned distance with Visenya, left him incapable of bonding with his second son in any meaningful way, or even of wanting to. Any one of these situations on its own is enough to affect someone deeply, and all of them happened to Aegon in a very short span of time, and with the exception of what happened to Orys, it all ties back into Rhaenys's death. What happened to her is what turned Aegon into someone who, with other people, isn't just private, but borderline withdrawn. It's not like he replaced her in his affections with someone else, he got more distant from Visenya and never ever took a wife even when everyone and their mother was parading in front of him just on the off chance that he would. He loses his connection to her, and his connection to Visenya in the crossfire until they start actively pulling away from each other later in life, and for a time his connection to Aenys until Aenys starts recovering, and he never tries to get any of it back in any way except for Aenys, likely so he can still hold onto the one piece of her that he has left (and again, this causes a huge detriment in his relationship with the other son he'll eventually have).
A slight positive that Rhaenys's death does have on Aegon's personality is that it does seem to have changed something in how he shows emotion, in that he did actually start showing them. He was still incredibly private, but we can start seeing slightly more about him, at least as a family man, after her death. It's fair to say that he doted on Aenys, given that he kept Aenys close to him as a child even to a certain extreme (he does take Aenys to Sunspear with him while leaving Visenya and Maegor behind) and gave him everything that he could ever need, and that he might have had a somewhat unfounded trust in Aenys as an heir (though I don't think that's entirely fair, Aenys being physically weak doesn't preclude him from being trustworthy when it comes to political work, such as taking over Aegon's progresses). He lets Aenys train with Blackfyre, he personally oversees not just his martial abilities but his education, he specifically does whatever necessary to have him ready to inherit the Throne on a personal level, as well as again, always keeping him by his side, even when he and Visenya essentially switched places, turning it from Aegon and Aenys in King's Landing while Visenya and Maegor were on Dragonstone to Aegon and Aenys on Dragonstone together while Visenya and Maegor were sent to King's Landing. The two most openly emotional moments we see from Aegon in the historical record also happen after Rhaenys's death. The first is his reaction to Nymor's letter; Aegon built the Iron Throne, he knows how sharp it is and how it's not a comfortable chair because that's the entire point, but he is still gripping it incredibly hard according to observers (when even just brushing your arm on it the wrong way can cause a pretty severe cut), gripping it hard enough to bleed. For someone as private as Aegon, that's a lot. And even most notably, we have the anecdote about the first time he was presented with baby Rhaena. “It was written that King Aegon himself wept the first time his granddaughter was placed in his arms, and thereafter doted upon the child…mayhaps in some part because she reminded him of his lost queen, Rhaenys, in whose memory she had been named.” This is the canonical history of Aegon in Westeros from the point of view of Westeros. This private person, this man who had like one friend in his entire life, who was an enigma to everyone and who never let anyone who wasn't family in, who played everything so close to the vest, publicly cried while cradling his baby granddaughter, named for his long dead wife, and was known to actively dote on her even more than he did Aenys. That's emotional expression we would never expect to see on Aegon, but Rhaenys's memory was able to evoke that in him, and probably just that realization that came from seeing how easily she was cut down and how important making moments with loved ones count is certainly contributed. Aegon after Rhaenys's death is someone who becomes incredibly more emotional and angrily volatile than he was before, and developed a disregard for himself not just physically but also emotionally (withdrawing from Visenya, his one remaining family member beyond his child, can't have been good for his mental health, lbr), and then resulted in increased personal privateness and a more firm mastery over himself, though it likely also instilled more of an openness to emotion when it came to the people he loved the most.
I like that you pointed out that Rhaenys's death was the major event that kickstarted the dynasty, anon, because it's kinda true. Rhaenys's death, and I've said this before but I'll keep on saying it, is House Targaryen's original ghost. She is the shadow that looms large over the family tree for its formative years up. There is no escaping her memory, not when the Dragonpit, the home of Targaryen power, is built on her hill, not when the entirety of House Targaryen is descended from her line, not when her name is synonymous with tragedy and lives shot down unfairly and cut down too short (Rhaenys TQWNW dies way too young in battle after having been denied what should have been her's and Rhaenys daughter of Rhaegar was of course brutally slaughtered while a literal toddler). And her death does kickstart a lot of the things that ended up in the foundation of the "modern" Targaryen dynasty. If she hadn't died, she might have helped Aenys grow into a stronger person. If she hadn't died, then Aegon likely never would have sought Visenya out to have a child with her, as he and Rhaenys could just have another and were certainly not only attracted to each other but capable of conceiving. If she hadn't died, there'd be no Maegor, and therefore none of his usurpation or the deaths of Aegon the Uncrowned and Prince Viserys, and no inheritance of Jaehaerys following Maegor getting murked by the Iron Throne. If she hadn't died, things with Aegon and Visenya likely wouldn't have gone downhill the way they did (I maintain that Visenya hardcore resented not being included in the decision Aegon made to end the war, doubly so if it involved being denied a last goodbye with Rhaenys, and also that Rhaenys in general was the glue that held the three of them together) and Visenya's own choices might have been different. And the trajectory of not just the Targaryens but Westeros at large would have looked different. With her administrative capabilities and also the ability to do as much as she could as a co-monarch, along with her precedent when it came to forging marriage alliances, helping people, and establishing laws like the Rule of Six, Rhaenys was basically prototype for Good Queen Alysanne, just with more power at her disposal, and so there would have been a lot of repercussions to her living longer and having more say in politics than her tenure was able to give her.
The reach of Rhaenys's death and its legacy is incredibly long, and everyone felt it for a long time. She haunts the narrative and she haunts the family, and her affect on not just the country and the history but the people who loved her, how they felt about her and how they changed in her absence and how that snowballed into the history of Westeros we now have, simply cannot be overstated.

Gary Moore was born on April 4, 1952, a Northern Irish virtuoso guitarist, singer, and songwriter.
💃🎉🎧🎸🎤✌HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! 🎂🎈
Tumblr media
"I was sort of piecing together my style. I am sure that all the influences themselves penetrated into my style, and I do not know how. And I really love all the music. There is a common phrase that there are only two types of music — good and bad. I agree with her. In the sense that there is a lot of beauty, you just need to have a non-biased perception. In the eighties it was like this: if you play guitar, you play hard. I somehow persuaded myself to play like everyone else. It was much easier than coming up with something original, but the more musicians I met, the more I realized that I did not belong to hard rockers. I felt like an outsider. I would never have reached the level of, say, AC/DC. To play such music, you need a certain mentality, a special mindset."
Gary Moore
Tumblr media
Gary Moore is one of the most successful musicians of the 20th century, whose contribution is almost impossible to overestimate. He stood at the origins of blues rock and continued to play on stage until his death. Gary Moore has lived a busy life with ups and downs. And despite the scandals related to drug and alcohol use, Gary Moore remains one of the most significant figures in the history of music.
Tumblr media
Gary Moore: "I met Harrison at a party in a tavern on the Thames. He came up and said that he really liked my way of playing, and even gave me some creative ideas for the song "Still Got The Blues"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... I was well over thirty, and I didn't want to play the same music at forty and fifty, because it would be ridiculous. The blues is much more elegant.
Tumblr media
...I wanted to do something new, completely spontaneous. And I told my manager that I would like to record a blues album, because I started playing this music as a child, and it has been close to my heart for a long time."

Nightfolk | Numen | Truth-Seeker | Aristocrat | Northerner | Loner | Draconian | Warrior | Reedlander | Seafarer
Been playing Elden Ring, part of that has involved messing around with the character creator! Haven’t done lady designs yet, but do plan to. Tried to think about lore in terms of how I’d theoretically tie each design to an origin. Not going to use all of the designs, do have certain favorites. Nightfolk design is an astrologer and one I’m actively using right now. I want to do the Ranni ending with him! I know there’s history for Nightfolk tied to Nox/Nokron/Nokstella as well as mimics--it feels poetic to go in that direction to me based on what I know. Numen guy is a warrior and nomadic, ties to the Blind Swordsman along with Malenia/Miquella. Wanted to really delve into the idea of both deeper heritage, cleansing, and traveling/change/movement. I’m hoping for Miquella-focused DLC. Truth-Seeker is a prophet, has the mark of the three fingers over one eye, would give him the Frenzied Flame ending. I figure there’s a really interesting irony if he was foreseeing the Erdtree burning due to the Flame of the Fell God and was outcast for it--but then due to that chain of events ends up going with the apocalyptic flame ending instead. Aristocrat I figure makes sense for prisoner, I probably will give him a go. The prisoner’s origin is listed as being a noble who did something absolutely heinous tied to magic and is being punished for it, so wanted to be consistent. I’m happy he came out looking as delicate as he does. Probably would do Duskborn ending for him. The Northerener I figure makes sense for vanguard--tried playing hard into the ‘fire giant lineage’ and wanted to give a sense that this is someone who’d been looking for a place for himself but has kind of given up on that and is reconnecting to the Fell God. Loner I wanted to tie heavily to Godfrey, and figure it makes sense for him to be a Hero by connection. Probably has knowledge tying to the Crucible and what predates the Erdtree. Draconian would be a confessor, and I like the concept of a Draconian specifically having devoted himself so utterly to the Golden Order. Would do Perfect Order ending for a fun character arc. Warrior is a Samurai, basically I wanted to see if I could do a Reedlander design but less beefy. I did want to tie to the heavy blood themes mentioned for the Land of Reeds, possibly hint at the Formless Mother a bit. Lots of Mogh motifs.
Reedlander I’m making a bandit, partly because the expectation was Reedlander must be Samurai but also because I think this is another angle that can be examined in terms of bloodlust expression.
Seafarer would be a Wretch--the idea of searching for a home and starting off a stranger with nothing seems interesting and consistent with that background.

Does your OC have a Best Friend? If they do then how long have they known each other and how did they meet? If they don't then do they have a close group of friends they love equally? Or are they more of a loner? -- for Nadya
Thanks for the ask! Ok, so Nadya actually has several very close friends that she would consider best friends throughout her life, so this might be a bit long!
In the fic I’m writing with my friend, her best friend is Nahia “Jasmine” Sand (Nahia is her Dornish name, Jasmine is her Westerosi name), who is my friend’s OC. They met in Winterfell, as Nadya came at a young age to foster there for potential marriage prospects, and Nahia’s father was a member of a prominent Northern house, so she was allowed to come stay with the Starks from time to time. It took Nadya some time to warm up to her, and she was definitely a bit jealous of Nahia’s relationship with Jon, but they eventually became very close friends and remained so for the rest of their lives (well, in one version of the story…)
As for my own fic, there’s several close friends of Nadya’s:
The first is actually Ros (much to the chagrin of her mother) who she became close with after coming to Winterfell as a young girl. The two were formally introduced by Theon when he took Nadya to a brothel, and Nadya was definitely nervous to befriend Ros at first, given her profession. But they began to talk and grew to genuinely like each other as they continued to meet with Theon and on their own. Ros eventually became Nadya’s closest confidant in Winterfell and is the only one to know her deepest secrets. They even developed a secret code using roses, to know when to meet with each other, after Ros discovered that Nadya’s mother was a Tyrell. There was definitely a bit of romantic interest between them too. Nadya was sad to see Ros leave Winterfell and was devastated to learn of her eventual death at Joffrey’s hand.
After Ros, it was Talisa. They met after Nadya returned from the Stormlands with Catelyn and Talisa had joined the Northern army. Nadya was definitely a bit wary of Talisa at first, as she was unsure of her relationship with Robb, but once she realized that Talisa was much more interested in her brother Alistair, she had no problems with her, and they became fast friends. Nadya even appointed Talisa as her personal companion and handmaiden after she became pregnant with Ren and Lena. Unfortunately, Talisa was killed during the Red Wedding while defending Nadya, so she lost another best friend.
However, Nadya’s true and final best friend is Sansa Stark. The two had been close ever since Nadya had first come to Winterfell, and Nadya had served as an older sister figure to Sansa for most of her life. They only grew closer as they grew older, especially after everything they had endured together, including the Lannisters and Ramsay, and at one point, Nadya had even sworn to defend Sansa with her life. They’re the definition of “real queens fix each other’s crowns”.
Nadya has a lot of other close friends throughout her life, but those three (four counting Nahia) are definitely the ones she would consider her best friends!

The Territories
There are four clans here, each with their own respective ups and downs to living within them. Founded a long, long time ago, the clan territories are well known to every cat nearby and are often avoided... However, there is no unlimited territory, nor are there unlimited cats either, so it's not uncommon to see loners or kittypets wandering through to pass by, join, or even fight. There's an abundance of predators here, as well, with many eating the occasional cat for breakfast.
CLIFFCLAN - The Strong and Bold
Cliffclan's territory is located north of the other clans in a mountainous region. Their clan lives within the mountains, cliffs and crevices serving as their shelter, with the rocky landscape and open skies providing prey. There are many dens spread out over a large area, though the central camp is located within an old twoleg structure that runs through and between two mountain peaks.
Cliffclan cats are resilient to the cold but get debuffs from heat, and gain extra skill points towards strength as a whole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lushclan - The Resilient and Determined
Lushclan's territory lines the beaches to the south of the other clans, laying claim to every major body of water from rivers and the ocean itself. They live within a large, open cave with lush plant life lining the walls. The walls were once carved by the waves millions of years ago, deep within a network of tunnels that underground rivers used to exist in. Now, they're dry and high above even the deadliest of flood levels; perfect for the coziest of dens.
Lushclan cats are resilient towards the heat but extra debuffs from cold, and gain extra points towards dexterity as a whole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brightclan - The Quick and Resourceful
Brightclan's territory is to the west of the other territories, its land vast with the tall grasses of a healthy prairie. They live with the harsh winds blowing up from the ocean, where the mountains can't protect them from the extreme temperature and humidity changes throughout the year. Their dens are located safely underground in tunnels made by creatures millions of years ago with claws larger than even the largest cat. Here, no winds or storms can bother them, and many underground animals may even find themselves prey.
Brightclan cats are evenly protected by the heat and cold through sheltering in their tunnel systems, and they gain extra skill points in speed and dig.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Canopyclan - The Sneaky and Dignified
Canopyclan's territory is to the east of the other territories, hidden in the depths of a tropical forest. Their forests are protected from harsh weather by the northern mountains and find themselves living within more modest but humid temperatures. It rains here often, which feeds the rich plant life and in turn attracts the most prey... and most predators. It's dangerous here, but by taking to the trees and moving from branch to branch with ease, Canopyclan cats are mostly safe. Their camp is found within a beautiful grove behind a waterfall where they lay hidden.
Canopyclan cats live with a good middle ground between heat and cold, and they gain extra points towards stealth and climb.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Four Peaks
This is a sacred place where the clans meet every night of the full moon under a promise of peace. In the center of the territories, it's thought that these pillars are all that remain of a large mountain that was worn away by the wind and rain by Starclan itself.
Tumblr media
The Moon Cave
Another sacred place, located underneath Four Peaks, where medicine cats visit every half moon to share tongues with their ancestors and trade herbs. It's important that, during this time, any news of disease is brought up so that the medicine cats may work together to share herbs. It's said the worms that create light within the cave are each individually created by Starclan cats to watch over the holy place; especially deep within where the Mooncrystal lies. The Mooncrystal is a collection of ice crystals, permanently frozen in time by Starclan itself, so that medicine cats may touch it to commune with them.

Ontario (Headcanon)
This is the first province, here we go!
Tumblr media
Ontario, the home of the federal governement.
Here's the flag:
Tumblr media
Ontario is the most populous province with 14,951,825 (2022). The country’s capital is Ottawa, and the province’s is Toronto (population of 2,731,571 in 2022), who’s the third most populous city in North America (without Mexico City) after New York City (8,804,190 in 2020) and Los Angeles (3,694,820 in 2020).
She’s younger than Québec in term of existence, since she appeared in 1790s, when the Province of Québec was ripped in half by the loyalists and farmers coming from the US after their Independence. She know New York by reputation, but it’s mainly Toronto and Buffalo who interact. She knows French and can speak it, but refuse most of the time, because her province is mostly English-speaking and the old rivalry between French/English speaker is still there. Yet, because of the Franco-Ontarien (French speaking people from Ontario), she will speak French when Québec is on her side to defend themselves against the hate towards her because the country parliament is in Ottawa.
(Here's the Franco-Ontarien flag)
Tumblr media
The Franco-Ontariens are proud of their language despite Québécois looking at them like their lesser than them (mostly linked to the rivalry between Ontario and Québec, the kind of way New Jersey and New York hate each other but got each other back; many feds workers are from Québec since Ottawa and Gatineau are close). She can kind of see why Québec only speaks French with them, and will sometimes answer in French, but the communication is mostly in their native language since they can understand each other (Québec speaks French and Ontario answer in English).
There’s also the fact that people outside of Toronto hate Toronto, and people from Toronto hate everyone else. Some people compare them to “People who would like to live in NYC but can’t afford the rent”. Note: I do not know enough about Toronto people to say if it’s true, all I know is city people are colder than country people and in a “mind your own business” mindset, despite our friendliness. It’s also the most expensive place to live in the country, seconded by British Columbia.
She has cold winter and warmth summer, and the south of the province isn’t as cold as the rest, but the north can be freezing. She mainly lives in the south, with a cool body temperature (12°C/53°F in summer and around -20°C/-4°F in winter). Northern Ontario is a main source of metallic minerals. She leads in production of nickel, gold and silver, second to British Columbia for copper.
She doesn’t really have any friends, with part of the west wanting the Conservative Party as the majority that can’t happen because of the lack of population, and because of the old stereotypes of Ontarians thinking they are the centre of the universe (some of them do, like everywhere else). She’s one of the few ones going to the actual meetings with Cana, with Nunavut and Québec being the ones who’s never there. The former because of the inability to exit his Territory on road (and doesn’t really care about having a friendship with colleagues who can’t really differentiate him and Northwest Territory) and his hunting/fishing/living his best life; and the latter who doesn’t need Cana to help her managing her government.
Ontario is a loner, and sometime resent the Federal parliament to be in her province, but is resigned to her fate, kind of like California. She doesn’t really have good relationship with the rest of the provinces as stated before and is now used to it.
For the sport teams, she mainly root for the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, and is always kind of happy having debate with BC (Canucks), Alberta (Flames and Oilers) and Québec (Habs) about who got the best hockey team, and she likes it because it gets them at least speaking together.
She’s the second biggest provinces (6’5), behind Québec (6’7), and fourth with the territories added to the mix, behind Nunavut (7’), Québec and Northwest Territory (6’6) (For the curious, Alaska is 6'10, Texas 6'3 and Cal 5'10). She’s white skinned with freckles, chestnut hair usually in a low bun under a Senators toque (beanie, a toque is a beanie guys), green eyes and glasses. She usually wear a beige vest, a Maple Leafs shirt, black sneakers, and pale skinny jeans. Don’t worry, if it cold enough she’ll get a winter coat and boots, but since she mainly lives in the south, she doesn’t really need to.
Fun fact about Ontario: She got four of the five Great Lake shared with the Midwest in her province, and her main sources of energy is from nuclear power (She’s salty about her government allowing the burial of radioactive nuclear waste in exchange of money). Despite being the most populous province, she got way less cases of Covid during the pandemic than Alberta/Saskatchewan.
Also, I think she would be kind of awkward in social interactions, because she’s not really close to any personifications, and despite living in the most populous areas, she got some kind of social anxiety.
Tumblr media
Here she is, witness to yet another dispute between Cana and Alberta, both looking at her for her approval, and she tries to not support any of them, because both of their ideas are terrible.
Masterpost here

OPHELIA FONTAINE SEASON 1
Come, let’s fly away from this place, Aurae.
THE BASICS:
Character’s name: Ophelia Fontaine
Physical description: Lucy Griffiths
Age: 26
MBTI: ISFP-T (The Adventurer)
PLOT POINTS:
season one:
1.01: Isabella returns; clear tension between her and her sister; love triangle is established between arthur, isabella, and ophelia
1.04: Jon Valles arrives
future plots:
ophelia tries to undercut rowena’s regime on her own )not knowing about the resistance) and gets captured and puts guin and her new resistance in a bad place!!
run ins with danyl reston (they HATE each other at first, but then end up falling in love)
most likely eventually finds out about guin and possible ends up as a member of (at least) the northern resistance
at one point jesper tries to pursue her and/or isabella (love triangle x 2 except this time neither girl is interested)
TRAJECTORY:
Overall Arc: Goes from feeling unloved and unwanted to feeling appreciated and respected by not only her family, but those around her. Gains self-confidence and a sense of purpose
Season 1 Arc (Step 1 of 4): Goes from hoping for a way out of her life where she will be dependent on her cousin, to seeing her sister swoop in and steal it away from her. Ends season frustrated with her situation; her life; and just herself in general for being in this position at all.
Season 2 Arc (Step 2 of 4): Things are terrible -- goes from being a sad loner, to someone who is frustrated with life/nursing a broken heart/grieving for her dad to someone who learns to make a place for herself in the North. Because of their situation, starts to rely on her sisters more and they start to develop a better relationship. Decides to do something about the injustices around her and essentially becomes ~the night watchmen~.
Season 3 Arc (Step 3 of 4): Possibly discovers about Guin/the resistance this season and becomes a respected and valued member.
Season 4 Arc (Step 4 of 4): Finds that she is loved now by many; no longer feels like she needs to change who she is to be accepted; learns not to judge others quite so harshly thanks to her mended relationship with her sister & her relationship with Danyl Reston. Ends the series as a happy, fulfilled individual
ENGINE OF CHANGE:
Internal goal/desire: To feel loved, appreciated, and accepted
Why can’t they get it? Ophelia is ~not like other girls~. She speaks her mind with no sense of the consequences and is often seen as careless and rude instead of forthright and genuine. While beloved by her own father, it has always been clear that Isabella is his pride and Guin is his joy and Ophelia is just an afterthought. She's always been seen as ~the other Fontaine girl~ and seems to always be in competition with her sisters who she is often compared to. While Guin does nothing to foster this, Isabella has always seemed to purposefully one-up Ophelia every chance she gets. Ophelia thought she had finally found a way of becoming more independent and carving a life for herself when Arthur Arrington began to show her attentions. She never thought she would marry for love -- only to escape her situation -- but time spent with Arthur made her believe that she could love him. He was one of the few people in her life who never wanted her to be anything else than who she was and what's more -- he seemed to love her for it. This all comes crashing down, of course, when Isabella returns to town, newly single and ready to mingle.
What are they afraid of: Her greatest fear is being left in the hands of Jon Valles (second only to having to live with her sister and Arthur once/if they marry). She wants independence; she wants her own life and spending the rest of her days trapped with people who she feels do not respect her/treat her well is the worst thing she can currently imagine -- and it feels as though this future is breathing down her neck.
How character views the world: Ophelia is mostly dissatisfied with the world and the people in it. It is clear that she does not belong to the society the Fontaines move in and she would rather spend her days tucked away in the corners of the house/with her horse/literally anYWhere else. That's not to say that she thinks that the world is all bad. It's not. She has a few friends (mostly consisting of the servants on the estate) and when she's with them, she feels happy and appreciated. She believes that there is good in this world, but she finds that most nobles/royals are selfish/stuck up/insincere and she's not willing to buy into their ~games~
How character views self: Generally misunderstood; but deep down she does have a lot of insecurities that stem from never, ever coming up on top and there are definitely moments when she wonders if everyone else is right and she's just not good enough. She does always try to be kind and generous to those she finds deserving and she knows she is stubborn and has a hard time forgiving those who have wronged her, but her pride won't allow her to treat them as she wishes she was being treated.
INTERNAL: THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
What is his/her greatest fear?  A cage -- and her home already feels this way. She wants her freedom: freedom to be herself without ridicule (but also in a much more literal sense as well, Ophelia loves the forest and the trees and the calm of nature)
Inner motivation: Despite feeling betrayed by Arthur Arrington, she knows that he is still a better option for a husband than living under Jon Valles's thumb and it is this realization that keeps her ~interested~ in him, however she is now much more guarded with her heart once she sees he is also interested in Isabella.
Kryptonite: Betrayal, of any kind, but the few people she loves and trusts. She expects it from most people at this point and has learned to accept it as a hazard of life, but she's let herself be vulnerable with a few select people and honestly finding out she was wrong about them would probably break her.
What is his/her misbelief about life (to be challenged ~this season)? Having been treated unkindly by so many, she is definitely cynical about the world and most people it in. I don't think this will necessarily be challenged in this first season (in fact I think she will feel justified in theses believes) but eventually she will learn to see that the world is a better place than she gives it credit for.
Lesson he/she needs to learn (this season): Ophelia needs to be learn to forgive & not to be so stubborn. Again, I think this is a lesson she will learn later ... but there's a lot in store for her and big changes to come in her life, and she would be better served if she was able to get along better with her sisters (especially Isabella) who is suffering the same way she is!!! Also just learn that half of Isabella's motivations have been with the goal of actually protecting her sisters all along.
What is the best thing in his/her life? Honestly? Her horse! Aurae is always there for her and has never judged her once (except perhaps that one time she didn't have an apple but she will let that one slide ;D)
What is the worst thing in his/her life? Jon Valles (she thought it was Isabella once, but once you live with a murderer/rapist cousin, you rethink things a little ;D)
What does she/he most often look down on people for? Anyone who is unkind/makes other people feel inferior (especially when there seems to be no reason for it!) Ophelia is a defender of those who are mistreated, as she has felt that way for so long, herself, and will not stand to see it occur to others, if she can help it.
What makes his/her heart feel alive?  The wind in her hair! Being on her horse; riding over the fields and through the woods; sitting peacefully up a tree with a book (especially when she's escaped some awful social function to get there); laughing with her friends; staring at the stars at night; honestly just any activity she can do (typically outside) that just makes her forget about the world and her problems/any peaceful moment she can just live instead
What makes him/her feel loved, and who was the last person to make them feel that way? Feeling seen/heard/appreciated. The last time was when Guin came to her room the night after the ball to check on her. She didn't press her or ask any questions about what had (or hadn't) happened with Arthur and instead they just sat together in front of the fire and drank tea. Ophelia didn't feel like confiding in her but it was nice to know that she was there, and would listen if she wanted to speak.
Top three things he/she values most in life?  Freedom; her horse; her friends
