白いビンテージ
Tumblr media
all the time.
I like white clothes even though I often accidentally spill coffee and other things on them.
I like old white fabrics as much as I like new white fabrics.
Perhaps it is because the absence of color makes the threads stand out.
In old Japan, work clothes were dyed with indigo. This was because it was highly effective in repelling insects. Also, in olden times, most people in Japan were farmers, except for merchants, warriors, and craftsmen, so their everyday clothes were work clothes.
I think it was the same in all countries where daily clothes = work clothes.
The more one traces the history of clothing of different countries and ethnic groups, the more interesting it becomes. I am particularly fascinated by French work clothes.
Was it necessary to gather so much for work clothes? I am in love with the beautiful handwork that is so detailed and beautiful that it makes me feel faint.
My favorite white and work clothes. I love white and work clothes, what's not to love?
Tumblr media
Perhaps it is because it is something you wear every day that you were particular about it.
White and navy go well together.
Japanese and French fabrics from the same period are matched and repaired where they were tattered.
Antique white linen used as sheets and old Japanese plaid yukata fabric were combined to make an apron dress. Of course, it was gathered generously like French vintage wear.
Japanese yukata = pajamas. Many are not dyed with indigo.

最近では古着のTシャツやデニム、軍パンなどカジュアルな装いにさらっと合わせて着たい気分です。
自分用にも1着は取っておこう。
Recently, I am in the mood to wear it with casual outfits such as old T-shirts, denim, and military pants.
I'll keep one for myself.

noragi jacket made over the weekend!
it took: - about 10 hours of sewing - attempting for the first time to draw a jacket pattern myself (don’t give me too much credit it’s literally just squares and rectangles) - an old curtain bought in an antique dealership (composition unknown) - the would-be lining of the ofmd robe (that i couldn’t bring myself to use for that for different reasons oops)
let me know if you’d like me to write a walkthrough, it’s a perfect beginner’s project imo and just in general very fun to make

More people need to talk about the phenomenon of the misuse of the concept of cultural appropriation as a tool to isolate groups, decrease dialogue, harm multiculturalism, and promote racial stereotyping.
Some people obfuscate the meaning of the phrase "cultural appropriation," which includes elements of ignorance, disrespect, self-benefit, and exploitation, and apply the concept to situations where that's not occurring. They do this, often, to actually PROMOTE racial stereotyping. For example, the criticism of a white person for wearing a noragi jacket. If they understand where it comes from, acknowledge that, and aren't benefitting financially at the expense of Japanese people, then the reasonable position is that it is NOT cultural appropriation. When we make accusations of cultural appropriation in these situations, what we are actually doing is suggesting that Japanese clothing *shouldn't* be worn by white people because that's not what white people do. That's racial stereotyping and is anti-multicultural. In addition, one can understand how an avoidance of Japanese clothing among white people might actually harm Japanese owned business. So, in such an example, accusations of cultural appropriation can have a detrimental effect on the source culture!
I've seen the misuse of cultural appropriation by Christians as a way of persuading white Americans to avoid exploring other religious traditions like Buddhism, Islam, and certain Daoist or Hindu groups, which welcome converts. That has a negative effect on the source culture as well. Buddhists, for example, welcome participants and support from people of all races and cultures. If white people avoid going to Buddhist temples simply because they're afraid of accusations of cultural appropriation, Buddhists are actually harmed by that.
There's also a phenomenon where people accuse others of cultural appropriation when they admire and engage with multiple practices from the same culture. However, this is also harmful because approaching another person's culture in a multi-faceted holistic way, as opposed to a segmented way, is going to lead to a deeper understanding, respect, and admiration for that culture. For example, yoga is mainstream in the United States. This is often Americans' only exposure to Indian culture. Wouldn't it be better for somebody interested in yoga to also explore Indian culinary traditions, philosophy, religion, and history rather than just stopping with yoga poses? Nothing in culture exists segmented from other aspects of culture. An Indian-centered approach to yoga, that might lead somebody into a deep love and appreciation for Indian culture, is far more likely to be of benefit to Indians than somebody who takes yoga and leaves the rest.
So yes, cultural appropriation is real. We need to be educated on a culture and understanding of a particular person's background and intentions before knowing if it is occurring. Far too often, we invoke cultural appropriation without first understanding those things, and when we do that, we are harming the people we intend to help.

About Japanese boro
The other day, I posted a mat made of boro in my web store. I joined tattered and repaired stray clothes together and repaired them by applying more cloth. The original repair marks are very cool, but if they are left as they are, they will soon break down when actually used or washed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I applied a backing cloth and sewed the entire surface together with many stitches. When cotton thread is used for stitching on cotton cloth, the thread and cloth intertwine with each other as the cloth is used, and it is difficult to pull it out. Two to four pieces of cloth are overlapped.
↓This is the cloth as it came out of an old warehouse. It is not usable as it is.
Tumblr media
Japanese clothes, described as "boro" all over the world in Japan. Although there is no clear definition, I imagine it to be a mishmash of cloth, mostly dyed with indigo, that has been repaired and used over and over. Many of the larger ones were used as futon covers.
Moreover, those have been around 100 years since they were no longer used. Japan has a humid climate. They have the smell of mildew, and if they are washed and sterilized many times, they will become frayed. Please be careful about these things if you buy boro products.
My works are washed in boiling water many times and dried in the sun so that they do not fray immediately!

Chloe Leblanc (ARCN)
Name : Chloe Leblanc
Color : White, but also... rainbow..? idk
Appearance : Chloe is a 5'4" Trans woman with short bobbed white hair with different colored highlights illuminating underneath. Chloe is an albino peacock faunus with a tail of feathers. Her eyes are white with speckles of different colors in the light reflecting out. Chloe wears a white with black patterned noragi hanten and a multicolored rope to secure the waist. She wears black custom pants with white patterns, and also black tabi shoes. When in training she tends to wear sparring judoshi showing her black belt in martial arts.
Weapon(s) : Thesmophoria a twin pair bladed war fans sewn with fabrics imbued with dust. These fans are sharp enough to behead any humanoid opponent, and acts as a form of ancient ritualistic dance in battle.
Semblance : Mirror Image - Chloe is capable of creating a projection of herself using her aura. This allows the clone to attack and deal damage as if it's Chloe herself, but any damage this clone takes will be enough to dissipate it.
Personality : Bubbly and friendly. Chloe likes to please others and works well in a team. She holds a dark past that is hidden behind her upbeat nature.
Biodump : Chloe is the last child from a Mistral clan of assassins. This clan raised Chloe to become the combatant she is, until one day she couldn't handle the repression from the patriarch anymore. Unable to accept who she is and will become, she slays her father using the methods the clan has taught her. By orders, this would make her the new clan leader but she chooses to run away and avoid responsibility from her faunus family. She used her semblance to make the clan believe that a secret assailant killed the father and son of the Rain Clan overnight, crippling their leadership permanently. To this day, members of the clan seek out Chloe to assassinate her, believing she is the killer of both.
Strengths  : Flows well in combat, very good up close, and can easily disorient an enemy with her mirror image.
Weaknesses : Not very good at range, Struggles to close the gap, a detailed eye can detect which Chloe is the clone.
Likes  : Cupcakes! and also her friends (Even if they don't consider her their friend.)
Dislikes  : Rude people, coffee and tea.
Fighting style : Artistic fighting style that looks more like a dance or waltz. Often uses her mirror image to partner up with her dance of death.
