Imagine your f/o's scent when you kiss their cheek, how their skin feels against your hands when you touch them or against your body when you hold them. Just the feeling of them so close to you <3

I’m so sick of “THAT’S your f/o?!11?!1” when someone shares a picture of them, and they’re nonhuman. Yes, that is my f/o, and I love them very much, actually? I don’t understand why it’s so hard to comprehend that nonhuman entities/monsters/robots are deserving of love. Because they are, and I’m giving them all of my affection <3

You are a fixture within a store, taken by a woman who often comes in.
Word count: 1.2k
~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~
She doesn’t come into the store all the time but you are sure you’d be able to recognize her anywhere. She infrequently tries on clothes and makes a purchase even less but you hope that she will walk past you anyways. She slinks around as though she’s concealed in plain sight, often bumping into something in the process. She stood out because always she’d say, “Excuse me,” when she accidentally bumped into you even though you couldn’t react or answer. You especially liked the times her hand would brush yours, always giving it a squeeze while she says, “excuse me.”
You were incapable of squeezing in return, but at night when the store had already been closed and locked for hours, you were able to move your hand just enough to pretend that you could.
One day the store closes down and puts on an out of business sale. First only the clothes were sold, and you did not see her.
Then it was the racks, and you did not see her.
Eventually you could not see anything at all.
An unknown amount of time passes. You had a good sense of it whenever the store was operational, when customers came and left, but you realize upon its closure that you're incapable of being bothered by time, no matter how long it had been. Incapable of feeling much.
You're surprised then when you feel something punctuated, when you can hear muffled from within wherever it is that you may be, yet clear as day, "Excuse me."
It was unmistakable:
"Excuse me, I was wondering if the one that was here... If they were still around?"
You are unable to hear what's said next but the sound of metal scraping against metal, the loud snap of tape, and on the sudden burst of light you realize you're being exhumed, peeled out of a box.
There she is. She stands over you, beaming brightly. She asks something different but grasps your hand in the same familiar way, "Would you like to come home with me?"
She is gentle when she picks you up, bundling you before affixing some sort of movement guard in her car. Carefully, always carefully, shuffling into what was presumably her home. There, she showed you reverence. It seemed that she was a seamstress of sorts, unknown to you if as a hobby or trade, but dedicated to the craft enough to have an area in her home set aside to it. She carefully clothed you in projects that she worked on. Though you couldn't reply, and you certainly never minded, you liked how she would always say, "excuse me," before she removed the current set of clothes to put on the next ones.
She would continue to grip your hand as well, after smoothing out the fabric and first taking a step back to take it all in. She would smile so proudly and remark, "I think we did good today," grabbing your hand as she did.
It was quieter than being in the store, but it was far less lonely too.
You didn't even know that you were capable of feeling loneliness, that perhaps that's what the experience of being in the shop was like, until you felt the sense of being at home.
She works late into the night one night, the first time you've ever seen her furrowed and frustrated. Normally she went to sleep at a reasonable time, or what you imagine must be a reasonable time, and only worked on her projects during the day. Tonight she works until the period of time you don't quite understand yourself, but the part of twilight when nearly everything seemed to animate.
She seems a little calmer, resolved, as she comes to a close. Her project must be complete. There was no need to remove the previous day's clothes as this was a piece of outerwear, she carefully slides it on and repeats the routine: taking a step back to take it all in before coming back to involve you in a praise. "It really came down to the wire... but we did it, my friend. We did good today."
She grabs your hand and you feel it, you feel the inexplicable sensation that you would feel overnight in the store. You feel the ability to suddenly twist your hand, overtaken by the allure of finally getting to share in the moment.
She screams and suddenly jumps back, horrified and frightened. "Did you just move?"
You can't answer but you begin to feel another new and unfamiliar sensation: the fear that you've just ruined everything, that you will soon be tossed aside. "How can a mannequin move?!" You wish you knew the answer. That you could tell her. That you could tell her anything, but now even the window to move your hand has passed. Days go by without her working on another project, but she cautiously peeks into the room with frequency. How you wish you could tell her, "excuse me," and apologize for scaring her. She returns to sewing but refuses to drape the clothes on you. She still tells you, "good morning", "good afternoon", and even "good night", but she's hardly said any else. She only gives you nervous glances.
One night, during that strange, unreal, period of night, she walks in quickly and with purpose. She approaches you and seems to have something on the tip of her tongue, stopping herself to first say, "Excuse me..." "Please, can you answer me in any way?" You cannot. "If I touch your hand, and you really can understand me, can you please move in return?"
There is no time for hesitation, the window time is narrow enough as it is. She inhales sharply when you twist your hand, so hopeful that this is not the last time she touches it. "Ok... move for "yes", do not for "no". Can you always move?" Stillness.
"Can you move sometimes?"
Another small twist.
"Only at night?" Twist. "The entire night?" Still. "For a small amount of time?"
How she still holds your hand when you twist it again, knowing that time was running out. "Will it be over soon?" The final twist, you hoped that she wouldn't ask any more questions that you'd otherwise answer yes to since you could no longer move. In subsequent evenings, she took to charting the time as well as her questions and your responses.
"Do you mind me changing your clothes?" No movement. "Do you like working together?" She smiles when your hand budges.
She does all of the work and yet she always involves you, treats you as though you've participated at all. "I do too..."
The final question for the night, "Do you like... when I touch your hand?" A surprise to yourself too, you manage to curl your fingers, finally feeling what it would be like to cup her hand in return. You could no longer respond this evening but her eyes start to puddle and pool. "I don't understand how this can be but I really appreciate you. I want to keep making clothes together, I want to keep learning about you in these windows of time. I hope that I do right by you and can make you feel as comfortable possible."
You don't understand how it can be either, nor can you understand the swell of emotion you feel. Yet you have known forever how much you enjoyed any moment in time you've ever gotten to share with this woman, how she would gently touch your hand and tell you in consideration, "excuse me." You would always be content and eager to wear the clothes that she made, just so that you could be that much closer to her.

Imagine if your non-Human F/o has horns that are cracked or maybe even broken/cut off so they are really insecure about it.
That's why you comfort/reassure them and touch/kiss their horns to make them feel better about themselves

What little I've drawn of these two idiots.
S/i is named Cerise, and although they default to fem/neutral pronouns they're alright with any.

🍰 If you have non-human f/os that don't have birthdays, f/os who are ancient and don't remember their birthday, or perhaps weren't 'born' at all... Imagine throwing them a birthday party!
🍰 Imagine baking them a cake and watching them excitedly blowing out the candles, spoiling them with gifts and spending the whole day with them.
🍰 even if they don't like celebrating or parties, maybe instead you spend time doing their favourite hobbies and making them feel special.
🍰 imagine they enjoy their fake birthday so much, that it becomes a designated day where you celebrate their existence every year!
🍰 bonus points if they're a villain or reserved person who's never experienced anything so fun and wholesome. they felt like they couldn't enjoy these kinds of things, but you changed that for them.
