@ellakas posting about Hairy Maclary reminds me of something I've been meaning to say on here for ages: there is nothing so wonderful as a rhyming children's book that really NAILS the metre. The Hairy Maclary books are a perfect example. The writing jollies you along every line, you never trip over your words, it naturally draws cadence and rhythm out of your voice without you even trying. Seriously, read them, whatever your age. They are a joy.
Conversely, there is nothing so depressing as BADLY metred children's books. They exist. I'm sorry to say, some of them even exist in my very own home from which I write these words 😆 Just. Someone please teach those editors about scansion.
Tell me your favourite rhythmical children's books!!

Armin only met Nathalia (my canon oc) when she was crying alone KKKKKKKKK 😭😭☠️ (get some history bellow)
Everyone on the wall thought she was a bit crazy and brainless for telling strange theories about the walls and around (nothing but the truth) and there were rumors about her running around she was pretty clueless yet VERY clever and smart (I have always lived in the world of the moon and I believed that reality was beyond what is seen since I was a little girl, so I transmitted the same to my oc. Most people still think I'm crazy out here, but that's okay 🤗❤️)
She entered the area of reconnaissance focusing on the theory and research team, or closer to where Hange works because of her curiosity, knowledge and wisdom. And when Nathalia found out that Eren had become a titan, she was VERY interested to KNOW WHY. She tried to get close to him, came to follow him around a few places and watch to write down in her notepads (she's just a girl!!! 😭🎀) watching him from afar since she was a bit shy and Eren was always surrounded by people or with Hange... until they started the rumor that, in addition to her being labeled "crazy", rumors also spread that she liked Eren. Nathalia barely knew about Eren's trio, and barely heard about Armin or Mikasa. Nathalia just wanted to.... talk. 😢😢
"GYAHAHAH GIRL DID YOU end UP running away and stealing a few beers from some ass veterans???? All that comes out of your mouth is shit!!!" in the girls' dorm Ymir teased Nathalia A LOT, seriously, even Krista Historia struggle to stop her. Not least because Ymir knew that Nathalia's words were too dangerous. "Are you really as weird as everyone says?? Pffft".
At the other side, Annie didn't talk much and isn't the type to let emotions rule "ugh, shut upp" kind of thing, but she always claimed that nothing Nathalia said made sense. (I really like her)
When asked, she answered "Is it really?" and get silent, pretending not to give a damn. Annie knew she was there on a mission and that Nathalia's words were true, even though some were too head-traveled and imaginative. Annie knew it was dangerous to increase, but she........... did she really cared?
The only one who came closest to staying by Nathalia's side was Sasha, but not too much because she's the other crazy one in the new squad. "Well... that's it. She's not wrong........ in fact, I mean, she's really crazy. But! Who guarantees, huh?!" she shrugs and leans on the pillow of her carefree bed "What if someday, what she says, proves to be right? You can't tell!!"
And Mikasa. Well......... she didn't trust Nathalia much because of the rumors about her liking Eren, however, more than that, Mikasa paid attention and kept Nathalia's words to herself because she knew someone who also shared the same ideas: Armin. In their trio they had dreamed of this since they were children and she always listened to Armin's stories and fertile imagination, and knew when someone was being honest. She saw faith in Nathalia's eyes. However, he never spoke to her or got into the rumors despite understanding what she felt, she just... She is not one to go around telling the secrets and conversations of her trio. Mikasa still watched her aside because she always knew that Nathalia watched Eren and they too much. "I don't know what you intend with this game but... Just don't try anything".
Being that NATHALIA just wanted to talk!!!!
When she heard about the rumors, even though she denied it and was smart enough to prove otherwise, she felt so hurt! She sat in the corner of the horse barn when there was no one and burst into tears. Full, silent tears. Why doesn't anyone believe her?!
She just didn't know that someone was watching her in silence all this time.

Tie-dyes accomplished! Took a bit longer than expected, but I also took the time to REALLY saturate all of the items. Like... the kit said for use on up to 50 items and I used it for 5 😂 but that's because if you only use the amounts that they recommend, it leaves a lot of disappointing white gapping in the designs and fades out wayyyy too quickly after a couple of washes. It's like the garlic of fiber projects, the recipe never calls for enough.
Anyway, looking forward to rinsing them all out on new year's day! Ending/starting the year with a new project feels like a good plan.

I just watched Lackadaisy pilot, and it’s real neat. I like the style and animation, I doubt they’ll be able to keep up the quality (because a pessimist won’t be disappointed) and if they do, well, I’ll only be happy about it.
Maybe I should read up on the prohibition years in the U.S...
Gotta say, I’ll be interested to know more especially about Rocky. Boy’s lowkey insane, wanna see how that came to be.
(Also, Nicodeme? HOT DAMN!)

Happy STS, Ari!
drops dead on the doorstep at 4am SOMEWHERE IT'S STILL SATURDAY
Do you ever cry when reading? If so, what's one book you remember crying over? And if you write, are you more or less likely to cry? And how would you feel if someone cries over your work?
Happy STS and thanks for the ask!
(and go to sleep x'D)
I cry very easily when reading. I like books that make me cry (most of the time). I also cry over movies and games and series and comics... Storys are very good at making me cry.
Funnily enough, although I know distinctly that I recently read books that made me cry, I can't currently recall a specific book or scene (... I think Girls of Paper and Fire made me cry at one point? But that one mostly made me very tense, so I can't really pinpoint where I might have cried). But there are two books I read as a teenager that made me bawl my eyes out and really stuck with me, one in a good way, one in a bad way.
The first one was "Das gläserne Wort" (don't ask me about the english title, I never read it in english) by Kai Meyer. I was probably 12 when I read it and the ending made me cry so hard and I loved it. I was actually really into sad endings for a while thanks to this book (specifically endings where somebody died and it was really sad).
The second one was "Feuerflügel" by Kenneth Oppel (again, I only know the german title) and I hated it. It actually ruined the entire series for me for a while and while I got over it enough that I can reread the first and second book now, I still hate the third book. The ending just still feels unnecessarily meanspirited to me and I now personally consider the ending of the second book the grand finale.
Oh, and one story that did make me cry a lot fairly recently (and that I love for that) was Undeserved (especially the introspective chapters). Damien's self loathing in that story just hits me right in the feels in just the right way and I periodically reread it when I want to make myself feel sad.
I haven't cried yet while writing, but since I can make myself cry by daydreaming, it's likely that I can make myself cry by writing as well. Probably equally likely, I think? But that is just a guess, I haven't written the kind of stuff that tends to make me cry yet.
I think I would like it? Especially if I intended it and it was the good kind of crying, not the "I will never touch this again I hate this book now" crying. The second one, I would not like, but I think I would find the good kind of crying touching.
