listen i didn’t even participate in goncharov but how is tiktok’s fake movie already so much worse. there’s like eighty named characters and no discernible plot. despite being an 80s horror movie it is het. no analysis just “guys that one scene got me fucked up” or “i think (new character i made up) deserved better”. personally i think they’re not committing hard enough

It's been a minute since I've read one of the Buffyverse novels aimed at adults, and I kinda forgot that they can be scary?
I started Carnival of Souls tonight and even just reading the prologue made me uneasy. Which is what I want from these books more often than not. I realize I'm pretty easy to scare, but please do that more often.
#it actually kinda grates on me that the new books all appear to be aimed at a teenage audience#as if they (Disney - who owns the publisher Hyperion) don't realize or care that the fanbase is not solely teens and 20-somethings#and I know this sort of thing is also dependent on the author - and I do have favorites#call it a pet peeve I guess#Buffyverse novel tag#edit: I do want to say that I really enjoyed the newest novel 'The Bewitching Hour' -#but it was PG-13 high-school-horror-movie scary at best#great atmosphere no doubt. but it was not written to spook someone my age

There is something so heartbreaking about ylfa being this child who went through something so terrible and got betrayed so bitterly by her family, people who are meant to love you unconditionally, and throwing herself into danger because of it. something so pure and soft about this insecure and fucking brave child being enveloped in love by mother goose, and the rest of these strangers immediately recognizing her worth and uplifting her and caring about her. these criminals and disgraced royalty instantly calling her brave and wanting to keep her protected. I’m loving this new season.
ALSO the horror is so great and beautiful and thoughtful and I’m in love with it, the combination of physical and psychological horror? beautifully constructed, kudos to Brennan and the editors for creating such a great and effective atmosphere.
FINALLY I am in love with pib and his mrows. he and pinocchio make me flappy hand everytime
