I can't believe we're being served a found family relationship moment- Nadja going feral to save THEIR FAMILIAR and literally keeping his secret, Guillermo's weak ass high af power finally working at its peak to save and help Nadja, Nandor dragging Collin Robinson who continuously being weaker and weaker the more interesting he becomes, and practically risking his life to transfer energy to Collin Robinson, and Collin Robinson essentially reviving Nandor, Lazlo just using science to try and help everyone. Like they would clearly just risk everything and do what they have to do FOR EACH OTHER.

imo the season finale for wwdits is a bit underwhelming. but what i gotta hand it to them, is how we see nandor as a character. we always treat him like how the other characters treat him, an oblivious idiot (i mean, it's true lol but hear me out) who lost his touch as time went on. and in the episode finale, we completely got bamboozled and made us realize how we've underestimated him. like damn, he knows how guillermo's gonna react once he became a full blooded vampire. the fact that he was the only one who figured out about the van helsing DNA and drinking actual human blood is just WOW yknow? he still sucks at the love department tho.... unless?

I love that we were all more or less concerned with Nandermo for this season, when Freddie and Marwa and the wedding were leaked... And yet
Now, barely 3 episodes in and we had :
-Nandor diving after Guillermo not even a second after the floor collapsed
-Nandor drying Guillermo's hair with a towel after said fall
-Nandor making sure he pronounces Guillermo's full name properly and claiming "always my friend"
- Nandor wanting Guillermo in an important role at his weeding despite not having choosen a wife yet
-Nandor being visibly upset that Guillermo doesn't seem jealous about said wedding
-Nandor having guy wives
-Nandor being clearly dissatisfied with all his wives even the one he ends up choosing Bachelor's style
-Guillermo being Nandor's dick attorney against the Djinn's potential tricks
-Nandor literally saying, as a form of thank you for said dick protection : "Every time I use my new big dick I will think of you and all you've done for me"
-Nandor inviting Guillermo to check said dick the moment he got it even though he hid it from the Djinn (who is the one who made it in the first place)
So yeah ... I think we're good. Definitely heading there.

I love that WWDITS will throw out these random, wild things that clearly are extremely relevant to the plot and all the characters will just kind of ignore them because they're busy with some other dumb shit.
Like Nandor's whole "my home village is exactly the same as it was 750 years ago except that everyone there is a vampire". Like. WHAT?? There's clearly a huge story there but Nandor doesn't elaborate at all because he's too busy sulking about not feeling special enough when around other vampires.
And, possibly most notably: Colin Robinson saying that his mom was boring and "still is". Implying his mother is STILL ALIVE and over 150+ years old. And, for Colin Robinson to think someone is so painfully boring he can barely remember them bears noting by itself. But no one follows up on that statement because Lazlo is too busy trying to keep Colin from realizing he's going to die soon and no one else pays any attention to what Colin says.
What a group of perfect idiots. I adore them.

Just some Nandor & Nandermo moments that make me extra unhinged nbd.
Like. Does everyone but Guillermo know that Nandor is utterly gone on him??? How does anyone NOT know, when he looks at him like that all the damn time? Note, this is not all the examples I could find. This is just all the ones I could fit in one post.
(EDIT: @flashbcaks informed me the 7th image is not a screencap but an edit of theirs, so go check it out on their blog HERE. It's a testament, surely, to how cuddly these idiots are that it didn't even OCCUR to me this wasn't 100% a thing that happened. But the rest still stands and that scene still DOES make me unhinged. 🤣)

Nandor is remarkably intelligent sometimes and no one talks about it because he’s usually a bumbling fool.
He’s incredibly hygienic and obsessed with cleanliness, traits that would have helped him and his soldiers live longer in a time without modern medicine, doctors, and running water.
He follows certain rules religiously, like the werewolf agreement, chain email instructions, warriors code, ect. As a means of saving peoples lives or preventing harm.
Picking the squeaky bone in a werewolf duel instead of a traditional weapon.
The first thing he did after the Sire escaped was host a press conference. He clearly understands that media control is crucial to maintaining power and leadership as well as preventing mass panic.
Out of all the conflicts to happen wether physical or mental, Nandor is almost always the one to suggest diplomacy rather than violence. It’s Nadja, Laszlo, and even Guillermo who pick the fights even though Nandor is the one who was a military general famous for pillaging.
Despite claiming that he thinks Colin’s death is a joke he still got up from his super slumber to see him, something he didn’t even do for the world wide vampiric council. He’s emotionally intelligent enough to understand that Colin’s death, real or not, is something he should show up for because he cares.
He and Guillermo play chess together on a regular basis.
Nandor makes terrible decisions all the time and his lack of knowledge on the modern world makes him come off as dumb, but he’s so observant especially with people. He understands how to control situations and others very well even if he’s an idiot. Every smart choice he’s ever made was informed by his ability to read the room. Nandor’s power isn’t in his muscles or fangs, it’s his ability to navigate social situations.

for a show that claims to be diverse wwdits has gotten really fucking weird about poc and women in the last few seasons ngl. theres famously the whole marwa debacle, which most people seem to have forgotten, including the show itself, where nandor essentially trapped marwa, a woman of color, into the body and consciousness of some white guy AFTER spending a whole season shaping her into his "ideal woman" without her consent, wiping her free will, and turning her into a fucking puppet, and then we all moved on and forgot about that??? and then theres the fact that the one black character on the show is treated as simply a plot device and also an idiot before being killed at the end of the season and then brought back and shunted into a basement. and then theres the fact that guillermo, the one poc living in the house, has been working for no wages the entirety of the show while striving to gain the status of vampire to be on equal footing with the others, finally gained this status before realizing he didn't actually want it and returning to his former state to continue working for no wages. the djinn, a brown man, has been stuck in a lamp being carried around by nandor for the last seasons, and his ONLY role has been to grant nandor's wishes. they literally brought him back for 30 seconds in the finale to remind us that hes still in the fucking lamp. theres the fact that even though all the vampires are queer, nadja is the only one who hasnt had gay sex in the time we've known her. like... all this feels iffy at best

This is belated as hell but posts about it keep coming onto my dash so:
Paul does this shit like once a year and then something else contradicts him and I really just ignore him at this point. I still think Guillermo never once considering he'd have to kill humans that he's already an accessory to killing is idiotic and makes no sense so it's downhill from there. My expectations are extremely lowered in terms of everything knitting together well.
But if the dude's gonna be 2012 about it he can at least put some effort in, because Nandor being Guillermo's boss is like only the fifth or sixth most fucked up thing about their relationship.
More importantly it's like...the ONLY one of those things that isn't true anymore, Guillermo is no longer going to be a vampire, Nandor is just his weird friend now and they're gonna have to deal with that.
Am I dumb enough to believe it's a feint that he specifically brought up the boss thing? No. I think he's just an idiot. But logically in the storytelling, the story where their happiness and relationship make up the core of the emotional and serialized beats of every season, it's the next thing that's gonna come up. Nandor isn't his boss anymore, Paul! What now?

Related to that last rant:
Nandor and Guillermo both have extreme control issues, though they manifest in different ways, and they're both going to keep fucking up their lives until they can find a way to cede that control to each other in healthy ways!
Nandor used to be in control of his own country, but he doesn't want to be in charge anymore! He's become the peacemaker of the group, strangely enough, and he plays at being in control of the house but he's always much happier when he cedes that control to someone else -- especially Guillermo. Every person in that house already knows that Nandor no longer has the heart for tyranny (Laszlo was especially blunt about it) but the problem is that Nandor doesn't know who he is if he's not some kind of dictatorial warlord.
(He's Guillermo's guy wife, clearly, but he's still figuring out that he really, really likes taking care of Guillermo right back.)
Nandor's really struggling with giving up control (in the household, in the council, in the vampiric community) if just because he doesn't know what the alternative is, and that uncertainty frightens him. And that's the real control issue. He's afraid of change because then he can't control what goes on in his life! He's afraid of his relationship changing with Guillermo because he can't control the direction it will go! Guillermo makes him uneasy, if interested, because Guillermo is the one thing he can't control at all!
It excites him but it also terrifies him and that guy needs to learn to let go and enjoy the ride!
And then on the other side you have Guillermo, who has more of a nurturing kind of control issue? He's taken care of these vampires for over a decade and he knows how quickly everything goes to shit without him. It's given him a little bit of a savior complex, but he also desperately needs to be needed.
It's sort of egotistical because he always believes that he knows better than everyone else what the household needs, and he believes no one can do these things better than he can. He's surrounded by idiots, so he isn't entirely wrong, but he isn't entirely right, either. He isn't always correct when it comes to what's best for everyone around him (and his tendency to try to manipulate the vampires is very irritating to them) but the bigger issue is burnout. Guillermo thinks no one can do these things like he can (see: his issues with Topher) so he won't let anyone help him. He just takes on more and more and more responsibility until he runs himself into the ground.
For the most part, the vampires let him do this. But in The Wedding, you could really see the logical conclusion to this problem and even they were starting to worry. We'd seen Guillermo do that kind of thing before -- like when he wouldn't allow himself to sleep when the assassins were coming because he assumed that if he ever took his eye off the vampires, they'd die. But we hadn't quite seen him destroy himself to that extent before, and even Nandor had to acknowledge that he was driving him too hard.
The problem is that... like... Guillermo will literally just keep taking on responsibilities until he collapses. He'll say "well, no one else can do this right" so he won't accept any help or admit defeat. He has this almost pathological need to be needed, but that's a manifestation of a control issue, isn't it? He feels like if he drops the reins for even a second, everyone he loves will get hurt.
It's not healthy, Guillermo! You need to learn to take breaks and ask for help! They love you now! They'll probably do it! Even Nadja was sticking up for you in The Wedding!
Besides, you can see his rising resentment towards them, which is fair because they treat him like shit but also unfair because they didn't actually ask him to do most of what he does. Many of Guillermo's responsibilities (especially his daytime ones) seem to be self-imposed, and his protective instincts definitely are. He runs the household so efficiently that they don't even seem to realize how much he does for them, which shows that he's a great familiar but has also allowed them to take him for granted. That's hurtful to him, but he also hasn't demanded respect until very, very recently.
I want Nandor to allow himself to let go of his need to be a figurehead and I want Guillermo to allow himself to let go of his need to have the real power in the household. Neither one of them actually has to run things here, and they're making themselves miserable. I think if Nandor allows himself to serve Guillermo a little bit for once and if Guillermo allows himself to accept that help, they'll both be a lot happier.
They both need a vacation. :') A real one, not the year-long disaster we had between s3 and s4. Come on, guys, let yourself lean on someone for once and admit that you don't have all the answers.

Okay I love what we do in the shadows but every time they try do to what are basically filler episodes they are always so hit or miss like the filler last season was great it was the bottle episode private school and it was great despite being an idiot plot now hybrid creatures was just weird like the three separated plots were so weird
The plot 1 hybrid creatures was the one tied to the season overarching plot but not really I mean there's the almost interesting idea of showing that Guillermo transformation is being slowed down because he us still human and its not okay with killing and eating the innocent a point that would've been way more believable if we hadn't watched Guillermo murder innocent people(and ignoring the murder of innocent people) for nothing throughout the seasons why they keep insisting Guillermo has any morals or is the "good innocent boy" when the text showed he wasn't ?
Plot 2 the school was also nothing it was a long joke about cool teachers like mr schue from glle as a set up for a cute Nandor Collin moment which again would've been more impactfull if we hadn't seen them last episode I actually enjoyed the way it had a set up and pay out with Collin "history is told by the oppressors" and the way they portrayed nandor's culture in the museum a great moment used in a nothing episode
Plot 3- it was funny I mean seen Nadja being a failure is always a win but again why not having the guide to be there, at the beginning I was betting that the witch was the guide using the cloak of duplication to try to spell it out to Nadja what really caused the hex but no just a random scammer it was so pointless
Overall this episode felt lacking in every way it wasn't that funny it wasn't that plot relevant it was a nothing episode that I will not be rewatching because if you remove it entirely from the series it wouldn't change the experience at all

God ok. So I rewatched the season 3 finale right. This was my first rewatch since bingeing the entire show in 2 days with no breaks except sleep last spring so obviously this was my first REAL watch of it that wasn't over emotional and sleep deprived. And I still cried my eyes out.
That finale (and the third season as a whole) is such a perfect piece of television for so many reasons but I'm just gonna be rambling about some of my favorite details for a second so just hang tight
Guillermo interrupting himself at the beginning with "and I deserve it" is SO UNDERRATED I'm obsessed with him
Laszlo draws such a realistic line of putting up a front of apathy even though we as the audience know how close he and Colin got that season. Like obviously he's mourning but it's not cartoonishly obvious that he's lying like we would see from Nadja. He's just unusually quiet.
Colin's pictures being torn out jumpscared me. Not a fun thing to forget about when you aren't emotionally prepared
I miss the Nadja doll. Where was she in season 4 fr
It cuts to Guillermo when Nandor talks about being reminded of how eternal life can be snuffed out in an instant. Camera guys ily
"You're running away from your feelings!" vs. "You're one of the things I need to get away from!" I never forgot about this moment I just can't believe it exists
Do y'all think Viago is gonna be confused when Guillermo shows up as a guest judge on drag race this season
LASZLO HAD A FLING WITH WALT WHITMAN????????? WE ALL JUST FORGOT THAT EXISTED HUH
Guillermo's little grins as he ran around trying to manipulate the house into staying. I love this little shit
Laszlo's speech legit got me choked up. WITH NADJAS THEME IN THE BACKGROUND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
Ok. Fuck. The fight scene. GOD.
¡¡¡PLANCHA!!!
Wouldn't say Guillermo cheated, fought dirty yes but cheating is a bit of a stretch Nandor. I thought you were a strategist
HOW COME NO ONE TALKS ABOUT GUILLERMO THROWING THE KNIFE BACK ANYMORE. WITH THE "AH AH AH!" THAT WAS COOL AS FUCK I LOVE HIM
"You're just scared of me right now" I mean, that and one other thing probably
I know it's been pointed out on here a million times but I wonder if Guillermo realized that Nandor wanted to share ancestral soil. He must have realized right
NANDOR'S SMILE AFTER GUILLERMO LEAVES IM GONNA BE SICK
"MY NANDO- MASTER" AND WHAT IF I SCREAMED
The hat. Maybe it was packed and that's why Guillermo had such bad luck (/hj)
THEIR PLAYFUL TEASING. UGH. NANDOR IS SOOO BABYGIRL IN THIS EP
Do y'all think NADJA will recognize Guillermo on drag race????????
Catch me literally sobbing at the train station. NANDOR LOOKS SO PATHETIC. YOU CAN SEE THE HEARTBREAK IN HIS EYES. WHILE GUILLERMO CALLS OUT TO HIM. THEYRE IDIOTS AND I HATE IT HERE
The lighting on the scene where Laszlo discovers Baby Colin had no right being that cool
That kinda just devolved into recounting the events of the episode through screaming but like. It stands. That episode. God.

S5E9 & S5E10 thoughts
Tumblr media
Well, I liked it!
The biggest loser here is Episode 9 because all my thoughts are so occupied by the finale that I can't say much about the previous episode which wasn't even bad. So just three quick things:
Finally I get some good fucking food (The Guide content).
"I'm… going…to kill you… Guillermo" gave me CHILLS.
Guidja real.
Now, to Episode 10:
Didn't notice the previous episode how feral Nandor was filmed, his face all darkened except for a beam of light on his furious eyes, good and classic vampire shit!
Nadja Detective Policeman visiting Guillermo in that outfit😩
Wow, Guillermo treating Derek bad after all he did for him really make the point across that he's a shitty person.
There's something so 😙👌 about Nandor going back to Panera, always love a full circle moment.
I don't care about Patton Oswald as a comedian or person due some disgusting shit he pulled years ago, so sadly I couldn't enjoy his scenes with Nandor that much. I loved that after the whole conversation he still killed him tho. I read someone in the tags paralleling this scene to Guillermo and Meg in S3E2, and I fully agree with that interpretation.
Laszlo helping Guillermo and apologizing…😭 He loves him! I would love to see more of how Laszlo feels about his "frustrations" (his innability to help Guillermo, the impotency of seeing Colin grow up and not remember him). That's something that should be explored better next season imo.
Him trying to have a serious conversation but keep getting distracted by the porn is me trying to watch this show as a dumb comedy but getting distracted by the nandermo of it all.
All the vampires visiting him with dumb excuses was so cute. I wish I never see those creatures ever again tho.
Ahhhh Nandor calling Guillermo from his mother in law mom's house was some psycho shit. Also it remind me a bit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when Spike visits Buffy's mom just to taunt her. Imagine Nandor pulling this shit:
Tumblr media
(Silvia immediately stakes him of course).
"My friend, Patton Oswalt, he passed away". The solemn way he says it as if he wasn't the culprit 😭.
The moment of Guillermo putting the stake on Nandor's neck was an explicit sex scene for me and for everyone with good taste.
On the opposite side, Nandor helping Guillermo with the red cape is SO SOFT, it's all about being equals this time.
The Djinn… oof… as someone who was begging for his appearance since the beginning of the season, this stunt left me cold… sorry but everything that starts with "it happened off screen" it's bad writing. It's giving "Daenerys kind of forgot…" level of bad.
Didn't like that suddenly Nandor is smarter than the others (specially if we come from an episode when Laszlo called him 'a fuckin idiot' for not getting the Guide reveal).
I already mentioned this in a post I made last night, but I'll repeat it verbatim here, because I stand by it:
I don't believe FOR A SECOND that Laszlo didn't try to feed Guillermo human blood 🤔 Remember when Nadja on s1 went on an entire mission to help Jenna to complete her transformation? (hey everybody, remember Jenna?) How Guillermo 'all my life I dreamed of being a vampire' did not know that piece of lore??
"Guillermo can't kill people" Umm whoever decided to go on this direction, I recommend them this show on FX called What we do in the shadows it's very good! (when consistent).
I…. don't trust that "Guillermo is not cut to be a vampire" stuff… sounds like retcon… BUT! I love the "Guillermo is not cut to be a vampire YET, specially if he isnt sired by Nandor" interpretation.
From the beginning I had this hunch that Guillermo's longing for a family and community (I'm not saying he dislikes his bio family, but obviously he grow up distant from them, probably for being queer and feeling like "an outsider") was a reason for being so desperate to become a vampire. Now that he has the family (bio AND chosen) and the community, it's his time to think if he STILL wants to be vampire or not (and he said at the fake ceremony that he still wants it 😌).
Lmao Guillermo's beard... that thing... didn't look like it was growing from Harvey's face.
🗣️HE 🗣️KEPT 🗣️THE 🗣️GLASSES!!!
More Derek! And with better make up than that ashy talcum powder nightmare from Episode 1!! WTF they got rid of another character of color again??!! Benedict Wong what are you doing here???!!! Yay??????
I really like that Topher is a "functional" zombie in comparison with his state in S2E1, it makes sense with the zombies we saw on the original movie.
Still weird that we end the episode and season here, with Derek happy ending?
HOT take but I like that it didn't end on a cliffhanger, considering that we don't know the state of the show post strikes yet AND after s4 I don't trust this people with cliffhangers ever again lol.
Now that the season is finished I came to realize Nadja's entire arc AGAIN was a big 'ol nothing, huh? The hex, her Antipaxos found family, the little stunt as a teacher, literal "throw at the wall and see what it sticks". I'm sorry but I'll repeat: WWDITS learn how to write women challenge.
Excited to see how Guillermo and Nandor's relationship will develop from now on, I know some people are frustrated but as someone who is used to slow burns being SLOW this is my shit. I joke a lot about the pairing but also I understand that this is the shit&farts show first, nandermo nation second (unlike some people that appears they only consume and rate media depending on how much kissy kissy is on the screen).
From 1 to 10, I'll give this season a 7. Not that good as my god tier seasons (S2 is a 9, S3 is a 10), but not so bad as S4.
What I want next season:
Guillermo NEEDS to be a Bad Bitch again: slaying vampires like the Van Helsing he is, being gay af, not being scared to sass out Nandor, etc.
Laszlo and Colin NEED to have a real talk.
Consistency.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LEARN HOW TO WRITE FOR NADJA I'M ON MY KNEES AT THIS POINT!!!

but did Marwa Freddie only like Freddie Freddie because Marwa Freddie was still compelled to like what Nandor liked and Nandor liked Freddie Freddie and tbh Freddie Freddie was the REAL piece of shit this episode because he CHOSE to cheat on Guillermo that had nothing to do with Nandor and Nandor actually tried several times to actively not hurt Guillermo but in kneejerk unthought out ways because he’s also a brainless idiot but-
