More of my Leuce redesign for a Lore Olympus project I'm working on. Still keeping with the axolotl features for her and made her live up to that "most-sought-out-for" nymph look that Zeus spoke so highly about.

Thoughts on the Greek Goddess of Darkness, Nyx? (I made a muse that is her but resurrected) Daughter of chaos, a first born and much older and more powerful than Zeus. (funnily enough? she isn't canonly evil)
I have a Death Eater named Nyx, and I confess I thought at first you were asking about her. But yes, her mythological namesake.
A powerful namesake, an admirable figure. I do enjoy her lore. Perhaps a bit too chaotic - I do enjoy a considerable amount of order - but power is always to be admired.

Quote
Modern man has been tacitly assuming that, having risen from the depths of barbarism, we are moving onward and upward to a paradise on earth through technological achievement, as though wisdom were born with us. I am inclined to see in the bygone Golden Ages of legends in the Old and New Worlds, the modified memories of a brilliant international past whose scattered traced provide us with sufficient clues for restoring it to the outline of history, and whose existence was rightly surmised by critical authors such as Strabo.

#Another thought that has been scratching at the back of my head in such a wildly irritating manner#is how much I've been distancing myself with fantasy games (think of skyrim; AC: Valhalla; and yes even Torchlight)#this also isn't to say that sci-fi or any game genre doesn't have this problem#but for some time I've noticed how much especially the fantasy genre can be so...different than what we've regurgitated#just in the last decade alone#it feels like 99% of the aesthetic in fantasy surrounds and encompasses almost nothing but eurocentric history/culture/mythology#and it honestly shows when there is like...one area in a game that has something that's like...for example; afrocentric#and how...just...much of a joke it is.#the sad thing is that when things outside of eurocentric aspects are included in the game it feels so out of touch and shallow#from the patheon all the way to the clothing; armour; and weapon designs#they feel like placeholders--even after a fully finished and polished game with the occasional system patches#it feels like a lot the games slightly half ass it#and even IF it's not half assed; it doe show the position of power that made it such#and what the devs and (seldomly to sometimes) directors had to fight for just to get it INTO the game#and here's the thing; I am talking about the AAA aspect of this entire industry#there are indeed indies that are making non-eurocentric fantasy games (though you might have to do a LOT of digging)#but like...it also shows how much the AAA industry really just...regurgitates and recycles the fantasy genre#when of course and obviously they have the BILLIONS to create something fucking fantastic outside of the same eurocentric concepts#with the SAME amount of effort and time it takes to make a fantasy game#outside of the bounds of [popular] eurocentric history/culture/mythoology#Like I do want to see micronesian fantasy more#more south american and african fantasy games WITH THEIR OWN MYTHOLOGIES/CULTURES#like...so much nowadays#the most recent game that caught my eye above all other games was game named Raji#and it looked not only mechanically fun but mythologicaly and fantasy wise so intriguing!#but also it felt a lot more genuine and in place#again I know that it's about either A) creating it myself or B) dig till my brain bleeds to find these indies doing this#but in all honesty...like...the AAA fantasy genre really fucking needs to step up their game hard#because maybe I'm just tired of having another Elder Scrolls: Medieval World of Valhalla Greek Patheonic Chaotic European World#For the 3920343892384th time already

Of course, many mythological texts and artworks connect Daphnis to the satyr  P a n, the God of music. Pan frequently was depicted in sculpture chasing both women and men around. Half man. Half goat. Bisexual.

Hey I have an idea like when Izuku has one of his bad days he would stay in the dorm room until either Aizawa or one of his boyfriends go to get him. What's your thoughts on them reacting to him having a bad day?
Awwwwww, I’m doing e v e r y o n e. (Some backround, they let Izu stay in becuase in my AU he went throuhg something REALLY trumatic, like I changed quite a bit)
Dadzawa: Izuku hates open spaces, when he was younger and tiny he hid in small places b/c more often than not people couldn’t hurt him there. So dadzawa would let Izu hide in his sleeping bag (I forgot the word for sleeping bag, so I curled up in the fetal position like I was in one and the word popped into my head) and if he didn’t have it he would give Izu his capture weapon.
Bakugou: He’s really fucking bad at this, but he’s known Izu since they were young so he tries. If he can, he’ll usually try to get Izu into his room so he can be surrounded by Bakugou’s smell. Then he’ll get something soft from everyone and pile it onto him and put on some cartoons they watched as kids. As they do that Bakugou will usually slip him some snacks he keeps around his room.
Todoroki: He has no fucking clue what to do so he panicked and bought Izu a ton of shit and then realized that wouldn’t help. So he made peppermint cocoa (the only thing he can make) and he’ll sit in Izuku’s room with him and eventually the smell will bring him out from under the blanket (or bed) and they’ll just cuddle all day. (Todoroki had learned to go to the bathroom before helping Izu).
Kirishima: Kiri’s the mother hen. He’ll get Izu up to shower, use the bathroom, change, necessities like that. He won’t make Izu leave the room but he will force him to eat and stay hydrated. ALSO, he and Izu started learning sigh language first because Kiri wanted Izuku to have a way to speak with out actually having to, you know? They end the day under the blankets watching random things until they fall asleep.
KAMINARI MY MAIN MAN, THE BABY: Ahem, anyway. Kami, the lovable theater dork. Got distracted again. So he hugs Izu a lot, and basically is very touchy on those days, which is a good thing, as long as it’s not consticting and easy to break, Izuku finds it grounding. He also sings with Izuku. He has one of those voices that are really soothing to listen to, he doesn’t sing enough. It’s very sweet and very soft, songs like Seventeen, Hey There, Delilah, and Marry Me. He was also the first to make Izu smile/laugh by singing Did I Mention.
Sero: Sero is kind emotionally constapaed. Surprised? I’m not. Anyway, he not really used to others people emotions and usually defualts to what he knows. Which is make a tape hammock/cocoon in the corner of Izu ceiling and read stories to him like he does for his little siblings. Sero’s not sure if he’s listening becuase he usually spends the whole time staring at his face which while adoroable makes it really hard to concentrate on reading and the amount of times he started describing Izu’s face out loud instead reading--
Tokoyami: Oh, Dark Shadow definitly cuddles with Izuku. DS is cool without being too cold so Izu will kinda automatically wrap his body around her becuase it gets how under those blankets. Tokoyami isn’t really the cuddling type but he’ll sit on the edge of the bed and read epics and really anything to do with greek mythoology becuase they both like it. And if he’s doing it one handed becuase Izu took his other captive then that’s nobodies business.
Shoji: Tecnically, Shoji is the only one that can get him out of his room, but that’s only becuase he wraps Izuku and multiple pillows and blankets into his arms to carry around during the day. Every once in a while someone will convince him to get fresh air, or something to eat/drink and he’ll just pop his head out of the top, hair messed up more than usual and face flushed from the heat.
Shinso: They sleep all day and it’s often up to Iida to make sure they eat/drink, you know the important stuff. He’ll usually brainwash (actually I don’t believe his quirk is brainwash but that’s for another day) to get Izu to change into something soft and/or fuzzy. Then he’ll ask kouda to get some cuddily animals for them. Iida has the hardest time waking them up becuase not only does he have to wake up Izuku “Puppy Pout, Kitten Eyes” Midoriya, but Shinso is THE cutest when he’s refuseing to open his eyes and cuddling into the nearst warm body (Izu) and THEN THERE’S CUTE ANIMALS COME ON!
Lmao Iida: Iida is the softest I SWEAR, he gives Izu little kisses whenver the urge hits him (a lot). On the tip of his nose, his forehead, his cheek, his neck, his shoulder, lips you name it! Iida usually gets Izu to cuddle into him instead of the bed and Izu will just sit in his lap, usually in one of Iida’s hoodies. Once they’re comfertable Iida will call Tensei becuase Izu LOVES talking with him. Of course he’s not doing much talking, but Tensei can and will talk ANYONE’S ear off on top of that, sometimes he’ll be with other hero and they’ll chip in too.
Oof and that’s it! All of Izu boyfriends and Dadzawa!!! I hope you like it and send more asks like this, it was really fun!!!

"if you name an animal after a piece of media, if that franchise becomes problematic, this animal is forever stuck with that stigma on it." Ok, but the same can happen with people. A species named after JK Rowling would easily be more problematic than the species named after Hogwarts/Gryffindor/Slytherin. You can't say name stuff after "(decent) people" because nobody is guaranteed to be decent. Also, tons of mythology is problematic when viewed through a modern lens. Why does it get a pass?
When i say decent people, i’m mostly thinking of, like “i named this animal after my son/dad/lover/etc..”, just, sweet thoughtful like this, or naming them after someone dead who was neat, i didn’t precise that well enough, i apologise.
Also i’m not so much aware of like, problematic mythology, that’s a bit new to me. When i said mythoology i was reffering to stuff like “dragon”, “wyvern”, and such, or stuff that is a big part of the culture of the person describing the animal.
As i mentioned prior, it’s just my opinion, but it did lack more precise descritions for the sake of being concize and more easily readable, both for others and myself, as i have a lot of trouble proofreading my stuff when my posts aren’t spaced up and short enough, so i missed out on some perhaps important details. Truthfully i wasn’t so much expecting this post to take off like it did.

Daydreaming, channeling fictional characters, being very influensed by any sensory input and creating worlds of your own
I’ve been looking for words/terminology for a few concepts that are so close to myself that I never thought about putting them into words - I didn’t need any words for something so ever-present. I now need words for it, because due to a discussion with a coworker I wanted to find if there was any research on these things and neuroatypicality.
The first concept is that of being very, very influensed by whatever media/show/song/character/fictional world that my mind decides to emerge itself totally in. This concept should, given that almost everyone I know around tumblr are from fandoms, not be very alien to most people here. The thing is, I never really considered how much of this was interest driven and how much was my brain being rather... suggestable? Because it isn’t just that if I really, really like a show, I watch it over and over again. Actually, mostly I don’t. Instead, I explore everything connected to it, as rewatching the show/movies themselves too much might actually put limits to the vivid fictional universe that’s expanding inside my mind due to said show/movies. Fanfiction is, for this purpose, excellent. So many different adaptions of a theme I already love, with just enough variability and novel ideas to further fuel the expansion and add details to the fictional universe. Music connected to a fic/podfic that affected my greatly can run on repeat for weeks, evoking memories of the story and creating new images and details, and enveloping me in an incredibly ‘safe’ bubble of said fictional universe. It’s not a ‘bubble’ - because there isn’t really an ‘inside’ and an ‘outside’ of that fictional universe in my mind; it colours so much of my mind, blends and creates new associations; new objects, colours, words, features or songs that will make me smile and think of the fictional universe and its characters and enhance the thrill of it all. It feels thrilling and safe simultaneously, and it’s probably more personal to me than anything else, almost. I generally only hint at exactly where my mind’s at, and the obsessions of it, when talking to people close to me. I can’t explain just how much of me it affects; I will think and see things in the colours of that particular universe. I am never far from the sense of that reality, it’s always just a thought away, and it affects my choices, my priorities and even the inner narrator in my head. It’s not static - there are so many different angles and corners in the whole ‘fictional universe’ inside that it might take the voice/tone of one fic for some weeks, then change into another adaption, changing my outlook of things and what makes me curious as the focus of the stories influense my thinking. If I’ve just read a snarky, funny story related to that universe, that’s what my thoughts sound like. If I’ve read something more poetic, that will be my inner narration until something else distracts/takes over or becomes more prominent.
I guess what I wonder is this; is this what it’s like for most people in fandom, or just a subset of fans? Or, book-lovers or other lovers of fiction? And; are there any terminology for being this... easily influensed by input?
The second concept is that of ‘borrowing traits’ from characters; others’ characters or my own. While searching for possible research about similar things, I came across a blogpost that mirrored my experience almost perfectly. It described how the blogger channeled different characters of a show, taking on their traits, at work. They used music connected to the show to evoke it, and which character from the show would be channeled depended on the situation; did they need the wits of character A or the pragmatic realism of character B? What struck me most of all was one of the last sentences, in which they described that it wasn’t always a clearcut case of character C or character D - they could mingle/blend like colours, creating new fusions.
This is, oddly enough, the first time I’ve read someone describe it in such a relatable way. Both using media to evoke it, and the blending of characters, picking up whatever traits suited the task or situation, but still feeling familiar due to being connected to a beloved show. I’ve only read a theory of something similar once before, in a Swedish novel, when they discussed the way people used the mythoological gods in similar manners - to wear a kind of sandal that reminded you of a particularly untouchable/invulnerable god when you wanted to feel like the other kids’ taunts weren’t touching you. I’ve done this my entire life, and it’s never been a choice, really, just something that happened automatically. I can’t not do it. There are, of course, a lot of the time when I’m not doing it/thinking about it. But most of the time, it’s somewhere in the background, colouring me and my own concept of me and what I want and what I like. Due to this little oddity of my brain, I don’t exactly have very much of a set personality - I only have traits that are more or less pronounced depending in what universe my mind is currently emerged in. Or so it feels. I don’t mind, really, although it makes me wonder, at times. My values don’t change too much, but they too are affected. My impulses, wants and obsessions certainly are affected. They’re mine, but they are... very entwined with whatever is currently replaying in my head and taking up all the space there.
What I wonder about this is basically the same as for the first concept; are there words for it, and is it like this for many people? I know, as my professional life is all about talking to people about how they function, that it isn’t like this for everyone. If it was, I would probably have picked up on it at some point...
Lastly; I have read quite a bit about maladaptive/excessive daydreaming, and I relate to this concept, but I find that my own version of this is less static, and the alternative worlds more changable and easily influenced than what’s described. Otherwise, it very much fits the bill for the first concept I’m looking for. The second concept, however, is trickier to find terminology to use in order to google for possible research or similar. And now I’m curious, because it’d be really interesting to see what the world of psychology thinks about these things. I probably won’t fully agree or buy into whatever theories there are, but that doesn’t mean I’m not curious to see these things put into words, possibly with theories or explainations attached to them. That’d be very interesting.
Plus; I’m also interested to find out if these things are in any way connected to neuroatypicality (my hypothesis, given that the only somewhat relatable things I’ve heard about similar concept have come from neuroatypical people), and it’d be neat to be able to prove/disprove that hypothesis, not only for the sake of the discussion with my coworker....
So. I wrote this mostly for myself, I realise at this point, but... Anyone have any input?

The 8th The Special Smile :
During pregnancy, especially in the last months of it, lots of mothers imagine how their child would eventually look like. Tiny, with searching hands, a fluffy belly and round cheeks. In our imagination all kinds of lovely baby faces tumble around, and the curiosity seems to grow and grow.
I heard that most of the time, seeing your child for the first time erases all those imaginations, and come with a feeling of having known this little person forever. For me it wasn't that way. My child was born with a cleft lip and palate, and looking at his then swollen, crooked face made me scared.
We were lucky that we had a direct transfer to an amazing oral surgery clinic where we got all the information and help needed. Still - I will not go into details, but believe me, the journey to where we are now has been very long and very tough. Three operations, weekly check ups with inserting a painful jaw clasp, and hard, teasing feeling of guilt that I couldn't breastfeed.
Why am I telling you this? Because I feel that too little people talk about stories like this. Because in the hospital I met one mother who never showed her cleft lip child as she was ashamed, and I met another mother who broke the contact with her family, as they said "God would not make such children" upon seeing his son's face.
Why are children books filled with healthy, "normal" kids only? Why can't superheroes sit in wheelchairs? How would it feel living with a body or mind that is not pictured anywhere in a natural way?
Of course there is a long way to go until all kindergardens and schools will be designed in a way that all kinds of bodies can enter the doors. And of course it might even take longer to change our own perceiptions, so that our children would not mirror us and bully others that look different - like having a Harry Potter scar under the nose, like my son.
When the Greek god Hephaestus was born, his mother Hera threw him down the Olymp upon seeing his face. When falling, his legs broke and bent and left him disabled. Looking at Greek mythoology, most of the gods were very busy with teasing humans, having sex here and there, and being rather useless. Not Hephaestus though, and I believe that his disability was a big part of his journey to becoming the most talented blacksmith in history.
