I swear someone could point out a minuscule detail in RnS and you’d respond with ‘yes that’s actually a very important character detail and is very intentional for you see’ insert like three paragraphs /pos
Oh pfff. No not really XD or I guess, not like how you're implying. I won't pretend every little detail people pick up on is planned. I didn't sit down and write a web of character traits for everyone, or something like that. It's just that, when you write a character for awhile, what comes natural to them as far as habits go, starts to come natural while you write them.
I gave Tanguish things like: thief, climber, nervous, codependent, caring, fearful, stubborn. And then when I write him and I need body language to go between dialogue tags, I think of those traits and come to the conclusion that he needs to fidget with his hands (they're important tools as a thief and a climber and are a common nervous fidget for nervous people. Hiding them and he's secretive, pinning them to his sides and he's worried he's going to mess something up, hurting them and he's feeling self destructive, etc.)
I gave Helsknight traits like: knight, formal, proud, resigned, scared of death, withdrawn. So when I write him, and he wants to lie (proud, withdrawn) but he can't (knight) it makes sense that he side steps the truth a lot. If he's vulnerable or uncomfortable (proud, formal, knight, withdrawn) then fidgeting with his armor makes sense.
Then the longer you write those little behaviors, the more messing with them makes sense as the story goes on.
"Oh I established in X chapter that Helsknight wears his armor as a sign of distance. It makes sense it would have a thorns enchantment, and when he's intentionally softening up for Tanguish, he would not add that enchantment back onto his armor."
"I established that Tanguish wasn't blinded when the Warden got close in X chapter, so it makes sense that he's able to see in pitch black places. Maybe I would like to make that symbolic in his character too: he is really good at seeing past the emotional guards of people, and if for some reason he can't, it makes him irrationally nervous."
So! I guess all that to say, yes the details are intentional because I think about them actively while I'm writing. But not in the sense that I sat down and said "okay, what are all the details I wanna put in this story that I want people to pick up on eventually?" The process is a lot closer to "if my character is like this, what is in character for them to do?" And then you remember those little things, and when you have the chance to reinforce them later to keep them in character, you take that chance, because keeping them in character helps the reader believe they're a little more real, and keeps them invested in the story. And if you get good at keeping them in character, they influence how the story goes with those in character moments, and then the story gets more compelling.
Then people go "Hey wait, I just realized Tanguish says 'Welsknight' but Helsknight says 'Wels'." And you go, oh, thank you, I tried very hard to keep them in character I'm glad you agree that was an in character thing for them to do. Here's why I thought it was in character do you agree? And, most of the time, people agree, because they watched you go absolutely insane over these two characters for 135k words. Yes author, you probably are a little weird about them at this point, huh?

OK! THIS IS PROBABLY MY FAVOURITE FLUFFYNIGHTKILLER HEADCANNON I'VE COME UP WITH.
My people, I love this and I hope you do. Its a long one, but I promise its worth it.
So ever since I read this head cannon from @yuriyuruandyuraart I've had one nagging thought.
Polygamous marriage is illegal.
So as much as I loved this story of them getting engaged, they couldn't ever get married, but I didn't wanna rain on everyone's parade so I kept it to myself. Until now!
While talking with @jann-the-bean I came up with this and Jan loved it! So I hope you guys do to.
So imagine that the 3 of them are going around telling their friends and family about their engagement, in the classic happy kind of way. It's all well and good, Dream is thrilled to find out his brother is so happy. However, then he realises the law and Dream pulls his brother aside.
Dream "Uhh Night...Can I talk to you?"
Nightmare "yeah?"
Dream "I'm so happy that you got engaged brother.."
Nightmare "........."
Nightmare "but?"
Dream "but..... But isn't Polygamous marriage illegal?"
Nightmare "......."
And that was the glass shattering moment. Dream wasn't trying to be cruel or anything like that. He was just generally concerned that Nightmare hadn't thought of that.
So later that night, Nightmare brought it up to his partners and of course both of them where upset when they remembered that law. So began a long talk about what they could do. In the end Ccino mostly just said that it didn't matter to him if they were married, so long as they were together. Since he's still just a small city boy, he didn't really see that there was to much they could do, he was content to just maybe have a ceremony where they promise to be life partners, but not marry.
Nightmare and Killer on the other hand were not satisfied with that.
That Night, when Ccino was asleep the two got to talking. I like to think that over the years that Nightmare and Killer have become icons for the poly community, much like Elton Jon is one for the gay community. The two of them decided that they were going to use this to fight for the right to marry each other.
It started small. Posts on social media, comments in interviews. They started speaking out that they should be allowed to be wed. Because they loved each other and the law shouldn't stop them. There where online polls and campaigns as their fan base who had been a huge fan of the throuple started to back them up.
This is when Ccino became alerted to what they were doing. He was scared that they could damage their reputations and careers over this. He told them that he wasn't worth everything they were risking. That if they really wanted to get married, the two of them could and he'd just keep being their boyfriend.
They told him no and then lovingly told him to shut up and they would take care of it.
So began the start of a long legal battle, which all together spanned about 2 years. From when they first started talking about it online, to when the find judgment was made. They were denied.
In the end the court ruled that if polygamy was legalised, it would cause alot of issues. Its a taboo for a reason, and some people would just abuse it for their own gain.
Both Killer and Nightmare were heart broken. Ccino told them that he was so proud of them for trying and that he loved them more then ever. But Killer and Nightmare were still really upset.
This upset Ccino, because he'd seen how hard they had worked and as he thought over everything, he realised that he was actually irritated himself. In fact, he was a little angry. So now it was his turn to say No.
Ccino "you know what? No!"
Killer "what?"
Ccino "they said they couldn't legalise it because people would abuse the system"
Nightmare "yeah?"
Ccino "well I say No! That doesn't apply to us. You aren't some guy who wants a bunch of wives. We are 3 people who all love each other equally. We should have the right to marry"
Killer and nightmare "........"
Killer "we thought you said that you were ok with it"
Ccino "I'm not. Of course I'm not! I want to marry you both! "
So this prompted them to start a new campaign. If Polygamy couldn't be legalised for everyone, then they was campaign for the court to give the 3 of them legal right to marry. If a man could get the rights to marry himself (true story) and a women could be granted the right to marry a building (again, true story) then the 3 of them should be granted permission to marry.
So they took it back to court and this time Ccino took a more active roll in it, though Nightmare and Killer were more dominant. Ccino appeared with Nightmare and Killer in some interviews, but even if his mental health was much better at this point, he still couldn't fully handle all the pressure. But he put in a lot of work behind the scenes to help his partners in the case.
They Luckily still had the support of the public. They argued that they didn't want to abuse the system, they didn't want to have the bunch or wives or a bunch of husbands. They were 3 people who all loved each other deeply and just wanted to be married to each other.
Imagine the judge in court asking them why they wanted to make it legal to marry Ccino and why they couldn't just date him. And Killer just stands up like.
"dude have you seen him!? Who wouldn't want to make that fluffy marshmallow their husband?"
Then as Jan said this leaves poor Ccino (who is sat next to him) just a blushing mess and he says “Killer, don’t be so loud it’s embarrassing..”
Meanwhile, nightmare staring the judge dead in the eyes.
“I agree he’s to adorable not to marry, I mean if we don’t marry him someone else may try to steal him. And I refuse to let that happen”
(thanks for these ideas Jan)
After another 2 years or so of fighting for it. After all the public backing and the long process. Killer, Nightmare and Ccino are finally granted the right to marry.
Just imagine Nightmare trying to keep composed in court, though his having a little party in his head, and Killer on the other hand just stand on his table in court like.
"yes! Ha!"
Then he points at Ccino "guess what fluffy buns! We are marrying you!"
Ccino is so shocked, but he's also so happy. He truly never would have dreamt of this happening.
The moment that Nightmare, Killer are handed over the legal documents, they don't waste a moment, they grab Ccino and jump straight into their car. Then they drive straight to Las Vegas to elope not stopping to change or pack any clothes or anything, because they don't want to wait a second longer.
Of course Ccino gets super flustered at their suggestion to elope.
Ccino "get m-married right now!? But don't you want to wait? And have some big celebrity wedding? You mentioned it before"
Nightmare "nope"
Killer "we've been engaged for over 4 years, we want to put a ring on it right now!"
Nightmare "we don't need a big wedding, or all that stuff. We just need you to say I do"
Nightmare and Killer "so... Will you?"
Ccino "......"
Ccino "YES!"
(though maybe they stopped to pick up dream on the way. Nightmare probably knows that Dream would kill him if he missed his wedding.)
So the 3 were married in a small Chapel. Nothing fancy, but for them it was perfect. They all agreed that they would probably host a proper reception and ceremony for their friends and family to attend later. But for now, they didn't need that, they just needed to be married. It was a very small simple thing.
They probably stayed in a Vegas hotel that night. Probably had some time to celebrate. I just imagine Killer waking the two of them up the next morning with breakfast he'd ordered like:
"Good morning Husbands"
And he just can't keep the smile off his face.
About a year later they have a more formal ceremony. Which of course is super fun. But for them it doesn't change that fact that their actual wedding was truly perfect.
And dam I just love those 3. Jan was the one who wanted me to share this with you guys and I really hope you like it as much as me.

Dam it Dream XD
BTW, I know this most likely isn't fully realistic to what the legal system is like, but give me a break. I’m not a lawyer, I’m a shipper. Its fiction, just let me have it.

15×12, Galaxy Brain meta
Where we don't know Cas place in the story, because he won't be written by anyone
First of all, a warning: This was written with my clown makeup on🤡
Second of all, eternal thanks to @verobatto-angelxhunter without her, I would still be crying for somethkng that was surely an error of the writers, and this wouldn't have been possible XD.
Now, I've noticed that the strong belief that Cas was gonna be a key part of Chuck's defeating is... dying, to say it somehow. And honestly I don't understand because everything is crystal clear according to me.
When Billie gave the boy the whole "You are the messengers of God's destruction" speech (and hell that was intense) I think we all though the same.
Jack, Dean and Sam. Once again, it's like Cas is not even there.
In any other season, I would probably believe that's because the writers are professionals at ignoring Cas, and they are, but I don't think that's the reason this time.
You do not point out a problem and then continue to make the same mistake. It would be ridicoulus. This season they have been pointing at Cas unexplainable/forced absences since almost the begining.
After he was pretty much ignored in the first 2 episodes (except for the 'we are' speach which I'll love forever). Then, for the first time, he voluntary went away. Not because he had something to do, not because he felt undeserving of staying, and not because non-born Jack had mess with hos mind or whatever.
And from there we have his absence in 15×04 (my meta about that episode here) where it was CALLED OUT. Becky said it. "No one even mentions Cas." And that alone could be a funny meta-fiction moment, but it doesn't end there, right?
Funny that in a chapter we know Chuck was writting as we were seeing it, he didn't write Cas.
In 15×05 (meta here) we could see a more clear parallel between Sam and Dean/ the werewolves brother because the absence of Cas put them in an isoleted situation, similar to the one the werewolves lived in. Besides, this was another Written By Chuck Episode.
In 15×06 we did have Cas (yei), but he was on his own case. In an episode we *know* Chuck wrote (he confessed in 15×09 bringing Eileen back was part of his plan), Cas was in an unrelated case.
In 15×07, Cas comes back to the bunker. Just in time for Sam to go into Chuck's head. That was NOT Chuck's plan.
In 15×08 was still not Chuck's plan. He didn't want them to contact Micheal. Cas not only did that, he managed to persuade Micheal/Adam to help by sharing his memories of who Chuck really is.
In 15×09 we saw a preview of a possible future. In this one, is in Cas *absence* (him going mad and then being locked in the Ma'lak box) that Dean pretty much gives up. He still will do anything to help Sam, but the fight in him is gone. He accepts his "destiny" in ending of the story.
In 15×10 we have... another chapter completely (or mostly) written by Chuck. Taking their "main character powers" he's proving them, or at least trying to, that He is still the writer, and they are just the characters.
And again we have no Cas. Curious, isn't it? Almost as if Chuck can't make him his character.
In 15×11 we have Cas separated of Dean and Sam again. Here I think 2 detalis are specially important.
First, the moment Cas gets re-introduced, his mission is to re-introduce Jack again. Then, we know for sure Cas keeps playing outside of Chuck's game, never once being his piece.
Second, we have Dean and Sam compared to "Heros, like in the old times". Don't get me wrong, I LOVED that, almost cry, but something about it kept bothering me.
I kept trying to write a meta about it, but I couldn't define the problem. Now I find it.
Think of any hero of the greek/roman mythology. Anyone.
They all are peons of the Gods. Hector, Aquilles, Odysseus, Perseus, Theseus, Heracles, Jason.
They always are solving the Gods' messes, or they are a piece in the Gods' games of chess. Or they ended up in the bad side of a God and for that has a less than ideal story (as Heracles about that one XD).
Some of them have better endings than other, but none of them are really free, are they? Always submitted to the will of the Gods. Those are the people Fortuna was comparing Dean and Sam to.
And Cas was, once again, absent.
Finally 15×12. @verobatto-angelxhunter kinda beat me to say it (here her meta), but the fact that Billie, who was one of the most important rols in bringing Chuck's demisse, took the time to remind us that she is Death because Cas killed her as a ripper. He wrote that part of the story.
Even though he did such a crucial thing, he doesn't get mentioned as "messenger of God's destruction" (Billie was so extra with that I love her).
I mean, even if he was k-word before they ended Chuck, he has played a good enough part to at least have some recognition, right? Right??
Unless Billie doesn't know.
Unless it's something that doesn't happen in the books. It's not like the books can't make mistakes. The book were wrong about the Ma'lak box as the only non-apocalyptic outcome for the whole Micheal mess. (The solution there was Jack, who is also someone who doesn't play by Chuck's rules and wasn't part of the story) (And is alive because of Cas' taking care of Kelly and the his deal with the Empty. All of that was Cas.)
Going back in the episode to Chuck's monologue in the store. In the TVs we could see all the AU that "didn't spark joy". That gave him the ending he wanted but lacked something.
You remember what called my attention of Sam's dreams of the AUs? Cas wasn't in any of them. Even if we know he must have existed (Benny appearing is an indication of that) Chuck just got rid of him at some point. That is what all those non-sparklers of joy have in common. Then, is not naïve to think, taking all I have already said in this meta into account, that this Cas has something none of the others had. A glitch that allows him to be the blue pill or something like that.
"But that's something pretty big, they would have to talk about it eventually." Y'all may be thinking.
Yes, they need to adress it eventually. You know, if only they confirmed a Cas-centric episode...
Tumblr media
...yeah, exactly like that.
The first Castiel centric episode we have since, what? The Man Who Would Be King?
He needed an entire episode because it turned out he had been lying to the Winchester the whole season. He was now the big bad of season 6. Of course he needed an episode.
What do you think they can do with a Cas-centric episode now?
