feels like him breaking the fourth wall, he is speaking to me! it's me, i have great affection for his brother!

kim is so incredible and cutting and heartbreaking in this scene, seeing it now again after everything brought tears to my eyes

"I know he's not perfect! and I know he cuts corners. but you're the one who made him this way. he idolizes you. he accepts you. he takes care of you. and all he ever wanted was your love and support, but all you've ever done is judge him! you never believed in him. you never wanted him to succeed. and you know what? just. she has this direct, unflinching way of cutting right to the core of every situation, and because she works hard to keep herself emotionally restrained, the honest depth of feeling comes across in it even more clearly. she has seen him consistently put down, she was unfairly punished, and she bristles with resentment against injustice, perceived or objective. she also, at the end of the day, simply loves him. she loves him to the point of willful destruction. chuck has the audacity to say to jimmy, "you've ruined this fine young woman," howard condescends to her and treats her like a naif, like she couldn't possibly know jimmy, but of course she knows. she constantly sees and observes everyone, it's everyone else not seeing her. jimmy's the only one. only they know what they're doing. only they know who they are.

and so in 2x10, it's jimmy's love and loyalty that gets him into trouble. he's pulled this scheme for her, because he loves her and he's furious on her behalf. he confesses because, after everything, he also loves chuck. he doesn't like seeing him suffer. he wants to make it better, but he underestimates chuck's depth of spitefulness. "I am saying it to make you feel better!..." "you'd go to such lengths to humiliate me?" "I did it for Kim!!!...I did it to help her! I honestly didn't think it would hurt you so bad."

I want you to be happy. -> I did it for Kim. that truly is their entire story!!! they're not evil or soulless, they're damaged. everything they've done is intertwined because they're two halves. their connection has become more and more insular and codependent because they only truly have and understand one another. and so, so much of this story is about repercussions. it's true of mike, it's true of nacho - they took actions that were not intended for "evil" at their core, even if they were complicated or wrong actions, and the repercussions became even worse. they tried to solve problems duplicitously only to create new, more overwhelming ones. jimmy and kim have done that too, and they've done so much of it for one another. the worst consequence of all thus being it tearing them irrevocably apart.

i don’t know what’s scarier

i dont know if anyone else has talked about this, i just wanted to ramble, might even delete later if i feel funky (tw: mentions of suicide / suicidal ideation. i will not censor words, for ease of those who mute them)

so nimona. as a transmasc person with a fluid identity, the movie nimona shot me in the fucking heart

the first time nimona says “i don’t know what’s scarier”, i felt seen. i have never felt more seen by a movie before. 

“i don’t know what's scarier: the fact that everyone in this kingdom wants to run a sword through my heart, or that sometimes, i just wanna let ’em.”

the first time nimona says this, it is an indication that she is passively suicidal. she won’t kill herself, but sometimes, she wants to die. she wants to be killed. that is what passive suicidal ideation is.

its something that many people experience, including me, but it generally isn't talked about in movies. thats why i felt so seen.

the next time nimona says  “i don’t know what’s scarier”, she is actively suicidal. she has reached her breaking point and is ready to fall on the sword of gloreth’s statue. that is the emotional climax of the movie, a damn good one that made me ugly cry.

“i don’t know what’s scarier” being used to show how she is passively suicidal, and then repeated word for word when she is about to actively commit suicide, was so fucking powerful to me

because its true, those thoughts are scary. to feel hunted for being different (trans) and wanting to die because of it. it hurts and its really fucking scary. it resonates with me deeply.
