ok y'know what. I'm tired of all the same questions in ask games so I'm taking matters into my own hands
OC/Writing Art Asks
For the character:
Pencil: does this character have any "sketchy" habits? Have they ever broken the law? Do they regret it?
Pen: what's one minor moment your character regrets? A small mistake, but something they "can't erase"?
Paintbrush: How often does your character "brush over" conflict instead of facing it head on? Is there something specific they don't like to face, or do they avoid conflict as a whole?
Marker: what's one thing your character would never tattoo on their body, even if they were paid a million dollars for it?
Crayon: what was your OC like when they were four years old? Were they loud? Shy? Were they the resident "weird kid" or did they get along with others their age?
Colored Pencil: if given the choice, would this character splurge on an expensive (but potentially worthwhile) branded product, or buy a low-budget alternative even if the quality suffers?
Copics: what is this character's most expensive habit or hobby? Do they ever feel guilty about the money they spend on it?
Graphite: what's something decently common that your character does in a unique or different way? (like how graphite is present in all pencils, but not everyone uses pure graphite)
Charcoal: share any unique physical features about this character that are not scars or tattoos.
Tortillon: does your OC "blend in" with the people around them? Physically? Metaphorically?
Pastels: Give me three colors that best represent your OC. Now give me three colors that your OC likes best. Is there an overlap?
Chalk: what was one activity this character enjoyed with their sibling(s) as a kid? If they don't have siblings, what they did with their neighborhood friends
Eraser: what's one way this character has changed over time? Either over the course of their story, or over the course of designing them as an author.
Palette: list four of your character's primary skills, then share at least two ways these skills might blend or overlap
For the work:
Starry Night: are there any scenes in this work that take place at nighttime? Is this significant, or just the passing of time?
Mona Lisa: oh, it's the fanfic writer's favorite word. Do a find-and-replace on the word "smirk" and share any lines that pop up.
The Scream: are there any moments in this work that you think could scare a reader? Are there any moments where the characters themselves are profoundly scared?
Persistence of Memory: are there any moments in this work where a character's memory plays a strong role? Either an individual memory, or simply a character's ability to recall the past.
Girl With a Pearl Earring: are there any moments in this work where a character's clothing or accessories play a major role?
The Kiss: share your favorite kiss scene from this work. If there's no kiss scene, share your favorite moment of intimacy (romantic or platonic)
American Gothic: what's one relationship between characters in this work that you think people wouldn't expect? (i.e., how the people in American Gothic are not married, they're the painter's sister and dentist)
Guernica: look through a few of your imagery/descriptions in this work. Are they generally straightforward, or are they more "abstract"?
Wheatfield with Crows: are there any scenes in this work that involve birds? Do the birds play a definitive role, or are they simply part of the setting?
Woman with a Parasol: are there any moments in this fic that feel "blurry" to you? Is this a stylistic choice, or would you go back and clarify the descriptions if you were given the chance?
A Sunday Afternoon...: pick one "little moment" from this fic. How representative is it of the fic's tone and story as a whole?
Creation of Adam: choose one character that is not present at the beginning of this work. How did you introduce them into the story?
The Swing: are there any moments in this fic where the characters get to slow down and have fun? If not, why is that?
The Last Supper: does this fic incorporate any symbolism based on religion, theology, or mythology? If so, give an example.
For the author:
Paper: Who do you feel is your most two-dimensional or underdeveloped OC? Why is this? (including those that are still in development/haven't been written about yet)
Canvas: Do you ever "prep" your fics with outlines or warmups before you start writing, or do you just dive right in?
Graffiti: Have you ever had to research something that felt illicit or illegal for a fic? What was it?
Photography: What's one moment from any of your fics that you feel is preserved in your memory?
Clay: Do you usually take time to "sculpt" your OCs before you write them, or develop them as you write?
Film: Which one of your fics do you think would work best if turned into a movie? Who would direct it?
Adhesive: when you write, do you usually "stick" to one character or story for a while, or bounce around various characters and ideas?
Cricut: are there any characters you've had to "cut" from a story? Are there any moments/chapters/stories you've had to "cut" entirely?
Felting: how often do you include soft moments when you write? Do these moments play a role in the main plot, or do you include them as an escape from the rest of the story?
Weaving: are your works typically similar to one another? Pick two works, and share one similarity and one difference between them.
Finger Painting: share a small snippet from your earliest work (or the earliest that you can get back to). How would you rewrite it today? Either share the rewrite itself or just describe how you'd do it.
Creative!: free space! share something you've been dying to share about your writing! Could be an OC that never gets the limelight, a moment you were proud of, or anything else you'd like to share

Eggtober 6th 2023
Tumblr media
"Splat" or "Fun with Colors": Raw Egg.
(Clip Studio Paint, Gouache Brush, Pencil brush for details and highlights. 12 colors, I think? 1 Hour.) I actually really liked the rough version I made, so you're gonna get that one at the end as well, for anyone who also likes the rough one better than the smooth one.
But first... I finally discovered a feature of CSP, so now I am unstoppable and I will NEVER AGAIN have to ask myself "How the fuck did I do that?"
Because now I have EVIDENCE. Now curious friends, followers, and my forgetful ass, can watch the full process of how I made a thing. Including what references I used so it's clear how much is iterative and how much I am drawing directly from the visual reference. Today I had to do a lot from imagination because I couldn't find an exaggerated splashy egg, but sometimes I really am just making a study and trying to do a one-to-one recreation of a reference. So now y'all get to know all my filthy little secrets. I was intending to grab footage starting with Eggtober 1, 2023 but OBS needs a version of an NVIDIA driver that will absolutely wreck my computer with BSODs because I own a junker apparently. But it turns out CSP (or at least V2, IDK if it was in V1) has a way to capture a speedpaint natively when you create the file.
Now I am unstoppable, powerful. No more taking a break from art when life gets busy and coming back to pieces I drew 10 years ago and wondering "How the hell did I manage that?" I can just check. It's over for all of you. Once I practice anatomy again and start being able to draw shapes and volumes perfectly from imagination, I will become all-powerful. I will ascend. Hell, maybe someone might even pay me if I learn to draw anything that isn't an egg or a meme. XD Radical self-confidence, baby. I can art now, and I have evidence. My horizons are infinite!
And now, hopefully, any baby artists that are just starting out can get an idea of how I do it from this and future pieces so I can pull you all up with me in a bid of apotheosis. For the EGGsthetic! (Aesthetic.)
I wonder which version of this egg @lady-quen's breadbugs will snap up?
And I wonder which one @quezify will like best? My money's on the sketchy one.
Tumblr media
I can't tell which I like better honestly. The smooth one us much more "My aesthetic" because it matches how I render eggs but... The rough pencil-y gouache lines you get with light pressure really remind me of how the classic modern quezify eggs look, and I of course only started doing eggs because of the first Eggtober so, like. On the one hand, smooth and painterly look that goes with all but one of my previous eggs (Eggtober 1, 2023 was a study from memory of quezify's style, after all). But on the other hand... dramatic color changes! Textrure, shine! Colors that aren't in the actual references! EXPRESSIVENESS. Two different moods on the same egg art and I really dig both of them honestly.

Tumblr media
MANY OF THE students at Hawkins would say that Percy Thorn was a pretty good choice of boyfriend. He was a very tall, slightly lanky yet strong art student with a charming personality, a dazzling smile, and a 1984 Harley Davidson FXRT. Yes, he was quite a choice.
He was also an incredible egomaniac.
For the past week and a half, Percy Thorn had not once left you alone if he could help it. Lunch times, he was there. Art class, he was there. Maths and English, he was there. He was like carbon dioxide: always there, yet never wanted.
Well, this past couple of days, he’d gone above and beyond in trying his best to ‘get you’. He’d tried the flirting, leaning against inanimate objects (and animate objects, such as poor Joseph with the glasses), pick up lines, asking his friends to ask you out for him. Nothing seemed to work. So, he tried the next option.
Touching.
First, it was an arm around your shoulders. Then pats on the head. Then a hand grab. But today, he’d been rather bold, going as far as to place a hand on your thigh. When he did that, you blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
“I have a boyfriend.”
Oh, boy. You had just told Percy Thorn that you had a boyfriend. That did not exist. That was nowhere to be found. That currently had his residential address set in Narnia. You had to find a boyfriend, stat.
When lunch rolled around, you burst into the cafeteria wide-eyed, panicked, and panting. Your eyes then landed on one set person that could quite possibly guarantee your safety from Mr.-let-me-lick-my-lips-and-hope-I-look-sexy.
You beelined for the table he was currently sitting at, taking the empty seat next to him, smoothing out your skirt.
“I’m really sorry, but I need a boyfriend.”
The man blinked once, twice, gaping like a fish. He opened and closed his mouth a couple of times before blurting, “I beggest thou pardon?”
It was probably the stupidest thing Eddie Munson could have said. But he was discussing Hellfire, and he was speaking in old English, and then he remembered he had a Shakespeare assignment due tomorrow, and the dominoes just kept falling.
Eddie had never thought that someone such as yourself, a rather ethereal being that was currently spending her angelic time at a school such as this, could ever taint her reputation by breathing the same air as him, never mind sitting next to him. He was a little taken aback, evidently.
Gareth, who was sitting opposite him, merely dropped his head rather heavily on the table, banging it a couple of times before sighing. Jeff merely pat him a few times on the back, muttering “I know, dude, I know” to the poor boy. You and Eddie both watched this with rather similar facial expressions, allowing Eddie time to process what you’d just said.
“I’m so sorry,” he backtracked. “I meant to say... what?”
“Percy Thorn won’t leave me alone, and I told him I had a boyfriend, and he didn’t believe, me, and he won’t believe me until I show him, and I know that you’re a kind of freak, no offence, but if you pretended to date me, he’d probably get the message and leave me alone because he would never try to mess with you, what with you being the devil’s spawn or something, I don’t know, but I suppose the basic gist of this is, can you please pretend to be my boyfriend so he can stop touching me?”
How you managed to say that in one breath was rather impressive, Eddie had to admit. He also had to admit that he was, in fact, not listening until you mentioned touching. His eyes narrowed when he heard that and he pursed his lips.
See, he had his own little problem. Someone had seen Chrissy and him talking at one point in time, and now they had spread the rumour that the two were know a thing, meaning that Chrissy’s anxiety had skyrocketed when people whispered, and Eddie was getting into a lot more fights than he was before the rumours began. He’d only just had a black eye fade, and already had a threat for another one. If he wasn’t careful, he was going to go blind.
“Pissing off Percy Thorn, huh?” he murmured thoughtfully. “Hmmmm...”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake, dude, take the deal,” Gareth hissed, not lifting his head from the table.
“Sure, why not?” the metalhead smirked, and you nearly fell backwards from relief.
“Okay,” you breathed, ready to cry. “Thank you, thank you, thank you...”
“Hey, it’s okay, sweetheart, relax.” He raised a hand to your waist, halting and asking permission with his eyes. At your soft smile and small nod, he wrapped an arm around your lower back, peeking two fingers underneath your ABBA themed baby tee. You shivered at the cool temperature of his silver rings, and were quite flustered at the heat of his skin. It was a rather beautiful contrast.
You were a rather physically affectionate person, and were rarely uncomfortable with touch unless someone else was. But this was an Eddie-initiated thing, so you leaned into his side, placing your head just below his collarbone. His hair smelt nice, and it was gorgeously soft. He had great curls.
“Wow, your hair is like, ridiculously nice,” you muttered. He chuckled.
“Thanks, doll. It’s my three-in-one shampoo,” he joked. You cracked a small smile at that, it dropping as soon as you heard footsteps and turned to see the douchebag himself strutting over.
“Well, well, well.” Percy Thorn also had a very silky voice. He could’ve been a voice actor. “We find ourselves in a predicament at the moment.”
Gareth lifted his head from the table, his eyes slits as he glared through his own brunette curls at the leather-clad artist. “And what would that be, o mighty one?”
Percy turned up his lips, looking Gareth up and down, turning back to Eddie. “The devil’s spawn has his hands on my girl.”
Eddie raised his lips in a sarcastic grin, cocking his head. “Last I checked, she was my girl.” Eddie tightened his arm to sell the point, and you raised your hand to his, lacing your fingers. You really wanted to vomit when Percy said ‘his girl’.
Percy scoffed. “Oh, please. No one would be caught dead sharing your seat on the bus, let alone allowing themselves to be called your girl.”
“Yeah, well, the reason she is my girl is because we shared a seat on the bus, so I guess luck was on my side.”
Damn, Eddie was good at lying. You smirked a little at the little made up story. You nuzzled into his neck a little, grabbing his attention.
“I have to go. Mrs. Craig won’t handle tardiness from anyone, not for the sake of algebra.” You swung your legs over the seat, hand still interlaced. He did the same, only with one leg. He pressed his lips to your knuckles, delighting in Percy’s absolute look of fury.
“I shall see you soon, my heavenly rose,” he bade farewell, sounding like one of the characters from the play he was meant to be analysing, Twelfth Night. You giggled a little. Even though you were only pretending, Eddie was rather funny.
“I await the chance, fair knight,” you returned, curtseying rather clumsily. He smiled back at you. You were quite pretty when you smiled.
You began to walk away, avoiding Percy’s look of rage when you passed. You couldn’t walk very far however, when you gasped, stopping in your tracks. Tears appeared in your eyes.
Percy smirked, the spot where he’d slapped your butt still tingling. You’d never wear this skirt in public again. Your hand flew to the spot, trying to stop something, anything, everything from happening all at once. You spun around, hunched over a little as you kept your legs together, as though you were a cowering puppy.
Eddie’s smile faded, replaced with a rather scathing look. The look of fear, no, distress that was on your face had him reeling. He grabbed the nearest thing, which was his lunch tray, shot up, flung his arms back, and brought the tray right on Percy’s ear.
The art student crumbled like a sack of potatoes, yelling as he clutched his ear. Eddie stood in front of you protectively, lunch tray still clutched rather tightly in his hand.
“You bastard.”
“Mr. Munson!” The whole cafeteria swung from looking at Eddie to looking at the teacher that had just shouted. “Principal’s office! Now!”
The brunette sighed, dropping the tray. Gareth sputtered.
“Wha- but Percy literally just assaulted her!”
“You too!” She didn’t even know his last name.
“That’s not fair.” You were trying to help, but it was hard when you were trying not to burst into tears.
“You know what? Life’s not fair. All three of you, go!” She pointed in the direction of the principal’s office Percy’s friends rushed to help their fallen mate.
Eddie stuck close to you the whole walk to the principal’s office. “Welp, that was an eventful relationship.” He tried joking, but it didn’t crack a smile this time.
“I’m sorry,” you said. “I got you both in trouble.”
“Nah,” Gareth waved his hand, dismissing you. “It was worth it. Seeing Thorn fold like that was funny. Plus,” he wiggled his eyebrows, “Eddie’s got a girlfriend.”
“Pretend girlfriend.” Eddie cleared his throat turning a little red. Gareth shrugged and walked a bit in front of them. The metalhead turned to you, sheepishly running his hand on the back of his neck. “Sorry about him, and that whole tray smack thing.”
“It’s okay, for both things.” You said quietly. “But, uh, you wouldn’t mind being my pretend boyfriend for a little longer, would you? I’m a little paranoid now.”
“Well, we can’t have that, can we?” Eddie grinned like the cheshire cat. “How about I drop you home to solidify the story?”
You smiled at that. “I’d really love that.”
Besides, he could use your help on that assignment.

What fans say:
Inside Out:
Besides the fact of "being a Pixar movie", this movie is a masterpiece, and it has really impacted me. Its message about accepting that "bad" emotions such as sadness are part of life and have its positive side and that "good" emotions like joy can be negative and toxic is really important and one that I'm still trying to internalize 8 years since I first watched the movie.
Wolfwalkers:
The animation is absolutely gorgeous, with a unique style. The music is wonderful, the story is touching. What's not to love!!!!!!
It's beautiful! If I'd watched this as a young girl it would've done something to my brain, in a good way. It's about being stifled by England and those in power, in 1600s Ireland. It's about little girls becoming best friends. It's really sweet, and wonderful. I love the scene where Robyn gets to really have fun and play as a wolf.
Wolfwalkers has beautiful stylized animation. The story is about conflict between the oppressive English colonizers of an Irish town, and their old ways of living in harmony with the forest. When the main character Robyn is in the town, the style she and the backgrounds are drawn in have an angular style made up of flat shapes that don‘t turn in perspective, similar to a woodcut print, showing the limitedness of the town worldview. When Robyn is in the forest at first she is drawn in the town style, but as she is introduced to Mebh, the style shifts to a loose, pencil-lined style with soft shapes and forms that turn three-dimensionally. Later, at key points in the story, Robyn shifts between these styles to reflects whether she is conforming to or breaking away from the town‘s rigid system. It‘s a beautiful way to subtly tie animation to storytelling. I also of course love the story for its queer, environmentalist, and anticolonial themes. It‘s an excellent movie and everyone should see it.
It has some wonderful animation, especially in the wolf scenes, and tells a story that pulls from the history of the English colonisation of Ireland.
The art style is gorgeous and the story is lovely.
It is the most beautifully done 2d animation I've ever seen, beautifully drawn and with such interesting stylistic choices for the backgrounds and the character design, the best shapes. Perspective is really played around with in wide shots that show the town, giving it an even more boxy and closed-off feel to it! My favorite scene would have to be when the song Running With The Wolves by AURORA plays. It makes me cry like a baby they're so beautiful and playful and free and learning to have strength and courage.......
It tells a really beautiful story about identity and friendship and being brave enough to stand up to your oppressors
The animation is gorgeous and well-utilized to convey tone/mood and also little wolf girls are valid and the scenery is [chef’s kiss]
The animation is really stylized which I like. The art style is one-of-a-kind, changing slightly depending on what's happening in the story. Like, for example, Robyn, one of the main characters in the story, started being drawn using cleaner lines when she was still "civilized", in contrast to Mebh, a girl from a tribe that lives in the forest and can turn into a wolf. As Robyn started becoming "wilder", spending time w Mebh, the lineart becomes more sketchy. It's just a really really pretty film. The story is also really really good. The characters are complex and develop throughout the movie. You can understand why Robyn's dad acts the way he does, but still allows him to see the errors in his ways. Also Mebh and Robyn are just fuckin adorable. This movie made me cry so hard and I hardly ever do that Also the soundtrack? MYGOD. perfect. Favourite scene is definitely Mebh and Robyn's wolf scene where Robyn was learning how to be a wolfwalker. The music and animation in that is so good. Idk i really i really love this movie bc it feels so... ALIVE. It uses the animation medium really well, doesn't shy away from the 2Dness and stylizeness of it, which I wish more animated stuff would do.
The animation !!!! Is so gorgeous !!! The art style is so gorgeous, in some places super details and in some moments mimicking medieval styles with symbolic (rather than realistic) perspective, it's so so so beautiful. The music is also amazing, and the story is beautifully put together, it will make you weep.

how draw turtles?
working on a comic with a pal of mine and i’m in charge of the art and idk how to draw turtles anymore so help please i didn’t know what i was getting myself into how do you stay motivated i need coffee ok bye bye *passes out*
-sketched
Okay so maybe I'm not the best to answer this, but
How to Draw the Turtles REFERENCE RESOURCES:
Turtlepedia is a generally amazing resource for finding reference images, screencaps, and concept art for any TMNT content in general! Rise concept art page is one I tend to go to. I know they have some character model sheets there too.
TMNTCompendium is an account on Tumblr dedicated to collecting references of TMNT both official and fanmade. They've blogged and reblogged some really useful stuff, so I highly recommend giving a scroll-through.
Storyboard/Doodles from official artists really help when finding a more simplified/sketchy approach: Rise tag of Christine Liu's Tumblr is the one I can think of off the top of my head
Others' Specifc ROTMMNT art studies: RaindropSyndrome's Expression Study, Mikiib's Rise turtle Anatomy Study, etc.
I used to use the 3D Rise Models from the Ninja Run / Power Up! game before they were removed from Sketchfab. If you can find another way to view those models, I'd say use that too!
Things I recommend practicing the most?
The shell. Especially Rise, as the shape of the carapace conforms to the curve of a human spine. Angles, how the carapace connects to the plastron. And the head. In thumbnails, I tend to divide them into two shapes, Base + Beak/Snout/Whichever You Call It, then lines generally marking the center, where the eyes would be, where the literal mask ends and then below. This can be harder depending on which character's head you're drawing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Motivation.... (there is so much text down here)
As for staying motivated, that is an issue I still struggle with. What may help me may not help you. But I can give one thing maybe?
For both you and your friend, don't constrict yourselves too hard. Is this a passion project? Then, be more chill with your stuff about it. If you have a story you want to tell, take that time you need. Holding yourself accountable to get those things done? I get it. But beating yourself up about something you were supposed to do for fun? For me, if anything, it made me more dreaded to do those things and I got angry at my ability not to enjoy them.
Also... Don't be hard on yourself out about making it look good by the start.
Tentative Devotee was the first full-on fan-comic I made since I was 14 and I'm becoming 20 this year. Part one is more clearly rough around the edges than part two, and I know when part 3 comes out, there will be another shift. That's a natural consequence of learning to draw unfamiliar things more frequently to show something you want to show.
2nd Page of Tentative Devotee - Enemies pt. 1 vs 1st page of pt. 2
Tumblr media
I'm not the best at words when it comes to this sort of thing. And this, I feel, is a discussion to be further had with others: but I do sincerely wish you and your friend the best of luck. Every step of progress is a step nonetheless. Please communicate and be patient and understanding with each other. Establish boundaries and be honest with each other about how you two will work on this. Communicate, collaborate, accommodate, compromise— all that.

Molluck Anatomy Practicing
Tumblr media
Man, it happened again... I just had to draw before going to sleep but yeah, finished after sleeping. I should try to do more sketchy sketches but it just happens that I just gotta do details and stuff... I still cannot really stand my line art, so I gotta kinda hide it under shading and stuff...
I'm not good at anatomy but I'm doing my best to learn it, though it's trickier here since Molluck ain't easy to draw... He got so long arms that I kinda had to make him have an odd pose to have at least one hand visible... My original sketch just didn't have big enough hands, so after fixes, I just had to accept this situation. I feel like I'm still not drawing his body proportions right... Also, just some weeks ago I realized that I have drawn his hands incorrectly multiple times, his fingers I mean... It just feels like I keep learning new things about him...
But well, this one feels like the best one so far. I guess that at least after getting that proper (poseable) 3D Molluck model done I start to understand how his anatomy, proportions and such work... I just see that there's something wrong with the anatomy and pose here but well, I just need to practice more. Though, it's kinda difficult to pose his legs since well, they are pretty dead, atrophic from not being used... I wonder if he is even able to move them, even a bit, or do they just hang around... But his odd little legs are somehow endearing, at least for me. Also yeah, I don't know why but Molluck looks somehow confused here... Like he had just woken up.
Oh, and this did remind me of one older traditional sketch similar to this I have never shown:
Tumblr media
You can see him having incorrect hands here but it's just the amount of joints in his fingers. I might like the style better here but his body has more problems here.
Oh, and I just feel like adding that sometimes I just think about that how there seems to be less 'Molluck thirst' than it used to be like 3-2 years ago. Well, I can get it but mine hasn't faded away, at all, just getting 'worse'... Man, after two months it's been 3 years of Molluck for me. It just feels like I finally have found the right one for me. Getting into the Emperor (BG3) just strengthened this feeling since I just saw how strong my feelings for Molluck are, preventing me from really having other characters around me. Though, the Emperor only started to interest me because his appearance reminded me of Molluck (and I love octopuses) but he is still my favourite character in that game and I love him but only as a friend. (I even bought the whole game because of him... But it was worth it and I'm currently doing my 5th playthrough...)
I do understand if someone thinks that I'm 'crazy' or something since yes, I do am crazy about Molluck! Also, I'm used to be seen as 'odd', like my whole life, so yeah, it's just what I am. It's just that Molluck is so 'me', like I have said many times; he felt like me as a Gluk and that's what got me into him. I remember feeling nothing toward him when I saw him for the first time, both in AO and SoulStorm. I'm just kinda immune to appearance stuff... Someone can look pleasant but eh, it evokes no desire in me. I don't even wanna call someone beautiful before knowing the person. Stereotypically 'hot' people look even ugly to me... Well, I often see that I have different opinions than the others but I don't even find Molluck ugly, even he is kinda meant to be ugly, at least to humans, since the SoulStorm art book calls him ugly and says that he is even uglier now, but he is said to be attractive by Glukkon standards, so... Well, I seem to be attractive by 'human standards', so a good match, eh? I have said this earlier but I have just heard from multiple people that I'm (very) handsome... I don't even know what to do with my appearance, it's just for identifying me, what else it needs to be... I mean, I'm not even interested in looking attractive, just pleasant enough for myself.
I don't know what has made the others thirsty for Molluck but, like I said, my reason was that I saw myself in him and only after that his appearance catched my attention. But even it was so, man, he do is such a beautiful Gluk! And well, even if there do are some difficulties due to his body since it limits him, there are ways to deal with it and I'm glad to help him out; he can give big hugs and kisses! I still honestly don't know about these terms, like what he is to me, thought many terms can exist at the same time but the main one I mean... I prefer friend-like love but it's more than that still... Romantic love is something like seeing the other as ideal, not about true love, just being in love, if I have understood correctly (I have seriously needed to read multiple definitions for it and I'm still not sure...). I see that Molluck isn't perfect and I don't want him to be perfect either but he is perfect one for me still. I'm basically trying to say that I don't really feel like using this 'fictional other' term like many self-shippers seem to use since it doesn't describe mine well enough. Well, whatever, I just love this Gluk so much!

I was showing a friend of mine some of my older art, which is a lot more sketchy and loose. She commented on the fact I used to draw full bodies a LOT, and now I do mostly busts and waist-up. Truth is, I’m not confident in my anatomy, but she told me I should try to give full bodies another shot. I took a few days to think on that and go over my previous drawings, and I took what she said to heart. This is my first attempt after many, many months of no full bodies. It’s not the best, but I didn’t spend 5-6 hours on this to let it get smudged without a photo. Drawn while exhausted, dehydrated, but committed to the bit. Sketchy & wobbly lines included, I also had no ruler

@headstrongblake said: “i don’t know how she was at school when you came ‘round but the kid i knew?” nick shakes his head, “she seems happier with you, better.” / nick to kass about octavia
they'd just finished getting their matching tattoos and kassy already wanted to go back in there for another one. she was grateful for nick having driven them, she'd heard that this tattoo place was one of the best in the area but the surrounding street was a little sketchy so, with him being their designated bodyguard as always, they could just enjoy the experience rather than always looking over their shoulders.
with octavia still inside, kassy and nick now waited by the truck, her hand gently covering the wrapped up tattoo on her arm as she watched how enthusiastic octavia was talking to the artist inside. when nick then spoke she glanced at him in surprise, a brow raising as a lazy smile tugged along her lips. she got the idea that before kass and octavia knew one another she might have been a handful, well perhaps more of a handful than she was now and a soft laugh escaped her thinking about her best friend.
"well, you dunno how i was before we became friends too," she countered with a wiggle of her brows, arms carefully crossing over her chest as she leaned back against the car door. it wasn't just octavia who was happier, better. from what nick was insinuating it seemed that the two girls really did need one another because without octavia kassy wasn't so sure she'd be as... expressive as she was. as happy? no, without a question. better? not a chance.
she gave nick a small smirk and shrug, "things seemed to have worked out for the better for both of us then," she told him as octavia waved goodbye to the artist and headed towards them with all smiles. it had kassy's dark eyes lighting a bit brighter as she pushed off the truck, "sooooo? you got your next ten tattoos already lined up?" she teased octavia as she joined the two, kassy's good arm reaching out to pull her into a side hug, bumping their hips. "gonna be more kickass than this guy by the end of it," she teased, giving nick a playful look, "as if you aren't already."
"listen, any tattoo you need drawn up, i've got you," she told o as they got inside, closing the truck door behind them. "of course i'm serious, you're my girl, bitch, i would be honoured to have you covered in my art," she laughed. "hey, you too," she leaned forward from the back seat to muss nicks hair. "however, i'll have to charge you though, you don't got the best friend discount, sorry nick," she grinned at his disgruntled reply, at octavia laughing in the back seat beside her while he pulled out of the parking lot to take them home.

i don't know josh please tell me about him. if u want
ough i would love to. this is going to end up so much fucking text because i don't know how to be concise so courtesy readmore also the linebreaks might make no sense but it's better than a massive chunk of text which is what it was initially before i realized that is Awful
ok so josh(ua majkavić) is my character for my friends and i's monster of the week campaign The Body and like his entire character concept is being if damien thorn or rosemary's baby or any other human-raised demonspawn grew up to become a guy who sucks. he grew up around the appalachian part of georgia but has been living in the general area of chicago with his ineffectual nerd roommates for most of his adulthood now
he's pretty majorly depressive/somewhat of a doomer, terminally insincere, and is generally predisposed to cruelty, but he's a pretty funny guy mostly intentionally. in all reality he cares quite hard and usually does not actually mean to be awful but it is literally his nature it makes him feel kind of bad sometimes but he also genuinely has to throw up if anyone cries around him. he also did beat a kid on an opposing roller hockey team to death when he was like 15 and made blood and dead fish rain on his town for about 12 hours don't worry about it.
he doesn't really leave his room if he can help it he has a really scary like prison gym setup in there and a carefully controlled climate both so he can keep as covered up as possible all the time and so his intricate crypto rig(/only source of income because he doesn't want to be a line cook again) doesn't catch on fire
has tyler durden-esque god-daddy issues despite having no father involved in his creation and is a COLOSSAL momma's boy to the point of getting about as close to being a misandrist as a cis bi man can get. speaking of which his mom (rosemary<3 aren't i clever) is a slightly hippieish cultist who had him as part of a ritual so he can bring about the radical change her group wants and bring about the end times but she also loves her baby (29 year old son) so so so so so so so much. he knows that most kids didn't have animal sacrifices at their birthday parties but he doesn't feel like having that conversation with anybody!
ok anyway ummmmmm let's see. he is the kind of guy that shaves his head in response to any occasion of major stress. starting as a young teenager one of his favorite hobbies was writing gruesome chainmail stories and he stopped in his early 20s but he thinks about going back to it sometimes. he was hooking up semi-regularly with their now-dead roommate and that is going to be a bigger deal than he ever expected it to be. his favorite movie is martyrs and his favorite game is cs:go which he is VASTLY toxic in. he's 5'10" and gets insecure about it sometimes. while he is quite good with computers he is still the least tech-inclined of his household and he recently clicked on a sketchy link his sister's hacked account sent him once and his roommates have lost all faith in his internet safety knowledge and he is suffering the consequences more in that way than he is in actual damage to his pc. he has a really bad tattoo somewhere but i haven't decided where or what yet a tribal tattoo is tempting but almost feels too obvious for a former linecook
he is very fun i think i do a bad job at describing him in a way that doesn't sound intolerable to play with i promise everyone loves josh. i still have not finished art of him at any point but the best i have to offer is this. jotch at 29 at the time of the campaign, around 15-16, and at his ninthish birthday with his mom:D

I got inspired by your doodle of me, and wanted to ask- how do you do your art? I really wanna get better, but i don't know how. I use FireAlpaca, and i could really use a more "focused" pencil rather than the "smudgy" one in my profile picture art. I mostly wanna draw to make my friends and partner happy, so you don't have to go into the most complex stuff i you don't want to x3
hi! sorry for taking so long to answer!
so i use almost exclusively ibispaint x for my digital drawings, and use a tablet or my phone to draw, so I can't help you with the technical aspects of the program you use but I can tell you a bit about my drawing process! apologies if this doesn't make a lot of sense, english is not my native language so my words may sound a bit weird.
so for drawing first you should make a sketch, which for many is the best part as it's the most fun part of the process. for this I usually do it on paper as pencils are more natural for me, but sometimes I do it digitally too. my suggestion is to go wild with the sketch! draw many lines one on top of the other, use the eraser freely, move things around however you like. once you're happy with your sketch you lower the opacity and create another layer for the lineart.
here is the part where you choose the brush you want to use for the drawing. depending on how finished you want it to look, you can use a more sketchy shape or a more geometric one. in ibispaint, I use a brush called marker that has a round shape. for clean lineart, you should use a brush that has an opacity of 100% and a geometrical shape like a circle. if you want a more sketchy look, you can use a brush that has an irregular shape and different opacity, like for example a pencil brush.
for flat colouring I get lazy so I just use the bucket tool in a different layer, and then I create another layer that I set to Multiply to do shading. but shading is pretty complex so I won't get into more detail.
as for getting better at art, my recommendation is to use lots of references and practice a lot. personally I got better by tracing comic panels with a paper on my mum's computer screen. also I drew lots of dragons because I had a special interest in them, so I drew them over and over and over. eventually I got good enough that I could branch to more complicated things like humans. last week i read a story of someone learning to draw using naruto characters as reference. everyone's learning process is different, so you should draw what you like! if the drawing process is fun, you will do it more, which means getting better.
so this is it! I really hope this makes sense and it's useful to you :}

hello! I'm someone who has become incredibly obsessed with Greenteacup's Lionheart, and necessarily, your beautiful artwork as well. i'm so impressed by your artistic abilities -- how do you make the art that you do? what do you use to make your art? any tips for a beginner artist? I don't know how to make digital art but i have an old watercolor set you've inspired me to take advantage of... thank you so much!
Hi!
First of all, that is so incredibly sweet. I’m glad I can be a part of the fandom circle of life where art inspires art inspires art and so on.
In response to your question, if you’ll pardon the trite answer but it’s all just practice. I’ve been drawing and doodling since I was about 6 or 7, and I’m in my 30s now. Over that amount of time you just naturally start to amass some skills, plus I’ve got a fine arts degree so I’ve had some actual specific training. (On traditional art, not digital. Procreate scares me.) I’ve only been doing digital art for about the past year or so, before that I was strictly a pen and paper sort of girl. I try to do at least one new thing each time I break out the ol’ iPad so I’m continuously learning.
That said, here are some thoughts I have about starting out on your Art Journey ™
If you’re just starting it’s always easier to work from a base instead of just your imagination. Translating what’s in your head to paper is HARD, and unless you’re somehow a magical wizard it’ll get more frustrating than it’s worth. Find a picture, go outside and look around, go to a museum and just do your best to notice shapes/ shadows / details. Trace the broad strokes if you have to (provided it’s not someone else’s work of course) I’ll stitch references together in a creepy collage sometimes before I get a pose I like (a hand from here, a fabric lay from there) - transfer paper is your friend. I’d also recommend starting to learn about shadow and shapes from inanimate objects rather than human figures, they’re less complex.
Find a medium that you like that doesn’t frustrate you. You could not pay me to work in pastels. Watercolors are HARD to work with, just based on personal experience so if you’re just starting and you want your art to look specific and detailed, watercolors are hard to control. Start with a pencil or a pen and go from there, then start adding in colors second. Me personally, I love a good fine tip pen, calligraphy pen, and the digital airbrush tools. If you want to do watercolors, masking fluid is a super valuable tool!
After you doodle a little bit, you’ll start to notice things that come easier to you and things that are harder. I personally loooove organic lines which is why I draw hair so often and I hate straight lines which is why I rarely draw backgrounds. Lean into what you’re good at!
Rather than trying to get a solid perfect line and/or erasing over and over again, do a lot of smaller lines and keep it sketchy, I find it’s a lot easier to control shapes that way. If I’m drawing a circle, I do it in 15-20 tiny strokes rather than all in one fell swoop.
This is just me personally, but I like to work dark to light - so for example, if I’m drawing Hermiones hair, I’ll start with a dark brown then add in the highlights after. However - that’s only useful in certain mediums (digital) so if you’re working with pencil or paint, reverse it.
I literally used to try and recreate old Disney concept art from the hand drawn movies as practice. That’s a great study in line thickness and movement. Jin Kim and Glen Kane are my faves.
You’ll have more drafts than finished copies. I have so so so many old sketchbooks and abandoned drawings that just didn’t hit the way I wanted them to. That’s okay!!
So, tools. I use my iPad and Apple Pencil and I honestly only work in the sketchbook app. I will move to procreate eventually buuuut no rush. For traditional art, any pencil and paper will do but if you want to get fancy, get a basic drawing kit with different hardness of pencils, a kneadable eraser, cold pressed paper, and a blending tool. If you’re working with watercolor, there’s special paper that’s made for watercolor and printer paper will absorb a lot of the water and warp a bit. (Again, that’s okay! Just something to be aware of) if you’re working with water based paint, painters tape and masking fluid have saved my butt many a time in the past.
Okay wow that was a very long winded answer thank you if you made it to the end of this absolute novel.
Have fun, enjoy the process and don’t get discouraged along the way. Art doesn’t have to be “good” to be important.

YOUR TAAAAGS YOUR TAGS YOUR TAGS YOUR TAGS. ok. off is kind of hit or miss for most people because its so weird and vague and i am extremely biased bc its one of my favorite thinfs ever BUT. i am going 2 say i think u will love it actually. its got soooo many fairytaleisms. its got tragedy. its got extremely morally grey characters. theres no good guys or bad guys. ITS GOT WEIRD LITTLE GHOSTS !!!!!! look at these bitches i used 2 doodle the off spectres in my notebooks like constantly they feel like home 2 me
Tumblr media
the art style is so unsettling and creepy. its got sketchy lines and weird freak of nature characters. i am going to be EXTREMELY selfish here in saying that i think u will very much enjoy the art style and also i want 2 see how u would draw some of the characters bc ur style is very monochrome and messy (<< i mean this in a beloved sense i love your linework so much) and i think it fits the vibe so perfectly. on a completely unrelated note are you still taking commissions.
ITS GOT ONE OF THE ALL TIME BEST OSTS EVER BTW. i still have the main battle theme (which is called pepper steak btw. best name for a song ever) as my ringtone on my phone. my video game ost rank goes 1.portal 2 2. off 3. undertale 4. minecraft. the off ost holds higher regard in my brain than undertale. shaking your shoulders it fits the vibe of the game soooo perfectly.
i will not get into the story too much here bc i already talked about some vague spoilery stuff in that post and i dont want to tell u too much more in case u do play the game urself BUT. ohhh my god. i could talk about the story for hours. u can ask aster after we finished the game we sat on call for like 2 hours while i walked her through my personal take on the ending and then she gave me her thoughts on the ending and EVEN THOUGH WE PLAYED THE GAME TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME (i streamed it for her) WE HAD DIFFERENT OPINIONS ON THE END. ITS SOOOOO FUCKING GOOD its one of those things where like. its so open ended that nobody ever gets into fights about what the "right ending" is because. well. there isnt one UGH i love that shit.
also zacharie is here. he is such a beloved character to me hes been one of my biggest huge comfort characters since like. 2015. i love him. hes like sans undertale for people in 2008. he was the original sans undertale. i think they would be best friends
oh also despite the fact that the setting is very much like. weird abstract, sort of fantasy sort of industrial, the main character is a fucking baseball player. hes so out of place its so funny
Tumblr media
^ official art btw. to give u a taste of mortis ghost's art style. its so silly and weird i love it so much
OK THAT WAS MY OFF PROPAGANDA SORRY FOR INVADING UR INBOX I LOVE YOU also ive been in a huge off mood for like 3 days now and have not been able to talk about it so im EXPLODING now
Tumblr media
OHHHHGHGHGHGHHH. MACKERELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL MAC U CAN'T DO THIS TO ME..... ohhhh my god. ok. ok yeah im pinky promising u right now i WILL play it. like. SOON. it looks so good hooly shit. game that i can TELL will rearrange my brain. also it looks SO nice... i like the art style so much. mac u are GETTING me here u KNOW what u are doing. u cant just go ros theres an unsettling morally gray tragic game with an incredible ost and weird art and NOT expect me to go fucking bonkers.

whats your drawing process like ?? (love your art btw its silly)
i usually just start with an idea of what i want to draw or the pose i want to use and i just go to town. i like to give a lot of shape to my art so i use a big line of action for most poses (klavier gets some funky long angular poses in particular). my fav part is the lineart so i usually spend too much time picking which brush to use lol but aside from that i really like to be loose with my line art. im not one for sketchy lineart, but i dont actively connect my lines. to me its all about the shape the lines create and whether it fits the character im drawing or not. colouring is my least favourite so unless im doing cool effects or using a funky brush i just try to get through it as quickly as possible. i love to add effect layers and colour overlays!!!! noise filter and blurring lineart are my best friends <3

Disrupt Project Week 3-
24/10/23
Interactive Piece:
After the workshop yesterday I found I had a lot of free will to explore my project theme for the rest of the week.
Last week I disrupted famous pieces of art in pop culture so this week I decided to flip the script and disrupt traffic signs themselves.
I wanted this to be a messy price of work so as a start I got my friends and I to walk over a blank piece of paper and due to the fact that the studio is covered in charcoal 24/7 it was easy for our footprints to leave a mark. I over lined the footprints to make them more prevalent in the drawing but it proved to take too long and in the end I stopped focusing on the little things and continued with the bigger picture.
Tumblr media
I then drew a simple stop sign with a very distinctive and troubled face on it keeping it free handed and sketchy.
Although I was happy with the result I wanted more from this to tie into my disrupt project as a whole so I laid it down as a doormat for people to walk over so it would be disrupted in a sense.
At first majority of people who came through hopped over it or tried they’re best to avoid it and it led me to actually write in smaller writing on it to advise people to walk over it!
After a while as time went on the door started getting caught on it and people had more fun destroying it and the end result was something I was very proud of!

some tips for drawing people I've learned over the years that no one asked for
if you're looking for realism, color variation in skin is key. I currently like to lay down shading in blue or purple and add color over that. not in an overlay layer, like directly over it. that way, those other colors are still coming through
don't be afraid of using colors that don't seem 'natural'
purple is your friend
experiment. most of my best breakthroughs were made by accident
it's okay if your style changes over time. if a style worked for you before but now it's not, it's okay to move on
sketchy is good. don't let anyone tell you that you have to have clean line art
use references. It really helps
do quick gesture drawings as warm ups. I hate this, but the improvement I saw in my own art was immediate
most importantly, take lists of drawing tips with a grain of salt. everyone has a different style, and everyone will have a different technique. what works for me may not work for you. so try out a bunch of things and develop your own techniques
