@fransweek
So, I wanted to draw Aladdin Frans but I also wanted to draw a different AU this time. I remembered that gorgeous piece @shorukarts did for @cjhern1109 ‘s adorable design on muslim!frans and there they are!
Hope I did them justice :)
Previous versions of the drawing under the cut
I wish I could have made the lights and shadows more dramatic, but one day I’ll get there! Still happy with the final result :)

Congealed salads just don't look right. It looks like it has a lot going on and it's wrong. It's mint green color and creamy looking, but it's jello, and it has things in it, things it shouldn't like vegetables?? No no stop stop, this is horrifying. I hate it.

female hyenas have penises. kinda. more on that later.
so as many people following me probably don’t know because I don’t talk about it a lot, I am a furry. when I was a kid some of my favorite games were ratchet and clank, crash bandicoot, spyro, gex, sly cooper, okami, dust: an elysian tail, pokemon… final fantasy 12. I also never played but love the design of banjo kazooie and starfox. I love night in the woods. I love aggretsuko. I love animal crossing. I love five nights at freddy’s…’s visual design. against all odds I love undertale. my default race in the elder scrolls swaps between khajit and argonian. the only races I ever main in WoW are the tauren worgen and pandaren (AND VULPERA)! king is my tekken main. dark souls’ crow demons... enough said. I love zelda and in its later years it started getting more and more furry with each major installment. I love sonic the hedgehog. twokinds is my favorite webcomic. beastars is probably my favorite anime of the 2020s. and none of it is sexual. I just really love anthropomorphic animal characters!
…okay maybe I have a huge crush on a few characters. rivet. coco. carmelita. fran. krystal. isabelle. roxy. blaze. others I won’t name because you’ll just make fun of me. but a whole lot of it is nonsexual. regardless I’ve always wanted to settle on a particular species for my fursona.
fox. cat. wolf. skunk. rabbit. raccoon. ermine weasel.
but every one of these choices has just been me settling. I looked at a list and thought well I might as well pick one of these because that’s what everyone else does. to be a normal furry I have to really vibe with a certain animal and align with that particular choice wholly. completely. like society tends to do for sexuality. you have to pick 1. no more, no less. so I kind of wandered around between them all not really picking any in particular and figured I’d get around to it eventually but as time went on it just didn’t go anywhere. until today.
so I just randomly realized that my name rhymes with hyena. and then I realized hey wait a minute I fucking love hyenas. so I did some research on the cultural impact of hyenas and… it’s really sad. the whole world hates hyenas. muslims hate hyenas. african tribal faiths hate hyenas. the greeks hate hyenas. jews hate hyenas. damn near every single culture in the region hates them. they’re vampires. they’re werewolves (er. werehyenas?). they’re the ghosts of cannibals (if only there was a single word for a creature that was the evil ghost of a cannibal). they’re the evil mounts that evil witches ride in the night. some real fucked up stuff. and I think that’s really sad, as I LOVE hyenas. they’re one of my favorite animals. the way they’re kinda dogs kinda cats kinda neither, the way they’re shaped like fucked up demented little monsters, the way they’re murdering bastards, the way they laugh. and I’ve heard that they taste very interesting. I’d eat em.
so I decided, them. hyenas. they deserve better and I would be one hot and sexy cute and adorable hyena. fursona selected, I’m a hyena now motherfucker!
and then my partner told me female hyenas have dicks. I was like bro what? and I looked it up. lady hyenas have an appendage that looks (if not functions) like a penis.
and I (dfab, trans, no desire or plans for surgery) thought
hell. yes. bonus points. I’m double over a hyena now.
is it culturally appropriative of African culture to pick an African native animal as my fursona? …nope. no it’s not. shut up fuck you do not pass go don’t touch my inbox. :)

Appreciate the 38th elected work of Denny JA and then they pray Friday at the Church as a professional work
In the world of art and literature, appreciation for extraordinary work is very important. One of the works that should be appreciated is the 38th elected work of Denny Ja entitled "Then they pray Friday at the Church". This work is an essay poem that describes a unique story about friendship and tolerance between two different religions. Essay poetry "Then they pray Friday at the Church" tells about two main characters, Joseph and Frans. Yusuf is a Muslim young man who lives in a multicultural village in Jakarta. Meanwhile, Frans is a Catholic young man who also lives in the same village. The two figures meet each other and are very close friendship. Their lives of different religions, do not prevent their friendship from growing. They respect each other and accept differences with each other. This can be seen in a scene where Joseph and Frans invited each other and deliver each other in carrying out their respective worship. Joseph went to church with Frans when Frans wanted to attend the holiday mass, and vice versa, Frans also went to the mosque with Joseph when Joseph wanted to perform Friday prayers. This work is very aroused feelings and gives a strong message about the importance of tolerance and friendship between religions. In our very diverse society, tolerance is the key to building harmony and unity. Through this essay poem, Denny JA teaches us all that religious differences should not be a barrier in establishing good relationships between fellow humans. Denny JA's writing style in this essay poem is very riveting. He is able to describe the atmosphere and feelings of the character in great detail. This makes the reader feel the same emotions as the character in the story. Denny JA also uses straightforward and flowing language, making it easier for readers to plunge into the story line smoothly. In addition, this essay poem also contains valuable moral messages. Denny Ja teaches us to respect each other and accept differences, and maintain good friendship. This message is very relevant in the context of heterogeneous Indonesian society, where tolerance and brotherhood are very important. The characterization of the characters in this essay poem is also very strong. Joseph and Frans are described as complex figures and have their own uniqueness. The reader can feel the development of their character along with the journey of the story. In addition, there are also some supporting figures who give color and life to this story. In terms of narration, Denny JA is able to make an interesting story and full of surprises. The storyline that exists well makes the reader continue to be interested in continuing to read until finally. In this essay poem, Denny JA also succeeded in describing the background of the city of Jakarta that lived and multiculturally very well. With the work "Then they pray Friday at the Church", Denny JA managed to show his greatness as a professional writer. This work not only entertains, but also provides inspiration and deep understanding of the importance of tolerance and friendship between religions. Appreciating the 38th elected work of Denny JA is a form of appreciation to a writer who has succeeded in presenting a meaningful and high -value story. This work can be an inspiration for many people to better understand and appreciate differences in daily life.

Oviedo
Bonjour from beautiful Bretagne, France.  We are having a wonderful time BUT we do not have Internet.  I’m not sure when I will be able to post this but I will continue to write and know that eventually I will be easily connected to the World Wide Web again.  Some people might enjoy this break from technology - but me - not so much!  But I am coping because we are doing so much - this time in France.  I’m hoping this reaches you...
Sept 22, 2023
Tonight we sleep in Oviedo - but there is much to see and do before we get there.  This area is called España Verde, (Green Spain). BEAUTIFUL!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We are in the region (think “state”) of Asturias.  That is the 8th region we have visited.  Mark and I have spent time in the Canary Islands - a region unto themselves and in Catalonia too, so we have visited 10 of the 17 regions -which I will say is pretty impressive.
Tumblr media
Many of the regions are quite different from each other in traditions and food -and even language - but all are quite Catholic.  (And yet they believe a woman should control her body and reproductive decisions and have laws that codify that.  WOW!!!)
The Catholic designation makes me think that I need a little more description about the “Caminos”. Especially the Camino for Santiago - the way of St. James.
Tumblr media
There are many “caminos” and connectors to “caminos” in Spain and France and Italy - and who knows where else.  Poland - I’m guessing but none in Czechia - which has the lowest religion participation in Europe.  A “camino” is a pilgrimage that ends at a certain holy point.  The Camino de Santiago, or in English the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrims' ways or pilgrimages leading to the shrine of the apostle James in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition holds that the remains of the apostle are buried.  This has been a walking event for a thousand years or more but now Compostela has advertised it as a tourist event and with the exception of the Covid years, more than 300,000 people walk parts of this path.  Pilgrims arriving in Santiago de Compostela who have walked at least the last 100 km (62 mi), or cycled 200 km (120 mi) to get there and who state that their motivation was at least “partially" religious, are eligible for the compostela from the Pilgrim's Office in Santiago.
Tumblr media
So after talking about the caminos it is time to share what we did on the way to Oviedo - Covadonga.  According to the placards: Covadonga is famous due to a small-scale clash between Islamic Moors and a force of Christians from Asturias in northern Spain—led by their king, Don Pelayo. It guaranteed the survival of a Christian foothold in Iberia and is sometimes described as the start of the "Reconquista"—the reconquest of Spain from the Muslims.  BUT the real miracle here is that a statue of the Virgin Mary, hidden in one of the caves, was believed to have miraculously aided the Christian victory.  That turned the cave from a battlefield to a pilgrimage location.  And as is often the case where region goes, opportunities to make money off those beliefs follow.  This capitalistic endeavor is disgusting - I thought.
Tumblr media
So visiting this cave is a BIG deal.  The grave of King Don Pelayo is there - but that is nothing like the shrine built with a chapel.
Tumblr media
But more visitors came than could fit the tiny chapel so they built a bigger chapel.
Tumblr media
Then they built a huge gift store.  Then they built a huge hotel.
Our trip leader Frans, was equally disgusted.  He said - FIRST there is no evidence that Moors ever traveled nor lived in this area.  There are no Moorish buildings, nor any Moorish customs or foods.  There are no indication of Moorish craftsmanship either.    BUT the “story” is that this King - who was hiding in a cave - found this icon and ta-da!!!  Now he can take his tiny army and defeat the massive army of the Moors.  Of course that icon was lost - but do not despair - we can make another.  And that takes you to this.  The third chapel.  This one is pretty big.
Tumblr media
On a less cynical item - this is cow country.  They are everywhere and this is the area of cheese, cheese and more cheese.  We saw thousands of cows in small herds as we crisscrossed the Asturias and we also saw these:  Horrieos - the grain storage building of this region.
These are protected buildings and are very regional.  Many are 500 years old.  We saw them everywhere.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because cheese is such a “thing” here - for lunch we had a starter of just cheese and apple jelly.  Every piece of cheese you see on the plate below is a different type of cheese from a different area of Asturias.  DELICIOUS!!! (Well - except for the blue cheese, which I think is GROSS!!! Some people liked it though... YUCK!)
Tumblr media
Our lunch was another regional food - “Fabada” (bean and pork stew.)  It was wonderful!!!   Additional we had cider - always made from apples and always an alcohol drink.  Watch this to get the pouring technique down.  Don’t drink it if can’t get a correct pour!!
youtube
After a late lunch we checked into our hotel - just in time for siesta - something I am really enjoying.  It was an evening on our own - but sadly Mark ate too much blue cheese and was not in a partying mood - so I just went to the grocery store and got a salad, wine and some “aqua con gas” for Mark.  He felt better before we went to bed and listened to the party that was rocking the city until 5:00 AM.  It is Friday night and the end of Festival of St. Matthew week but the hotel staff assured us that tonight’s event was not religious.
Buenos Noches!
Tomorrow will be our last full day in Spain.  What a trip we are on!!!
Stay tuned and I’m hoping you get this…...

Feliz Cumpleaños @shorukarts!!! 🎂 🎉 You’re now officially old (I’m also 18 🥲)
Sorry if this gift is late, I already had this piece finished. But my artsy-big-brain thought to make a special bonus to the birthday girl, so here’s a potential outline for this Muslim!Frans AU, let’s call it RahmaTale for now.
Tumblr media
* The AU takes place somewhere in Malaysia. Since I head-canon Frisk as Southeast Asian (for me, Filipino) and this Frisk practices Islam openly, Malaysia is good place as it’s 61% Muslim.
* Monsters were already freed several years ago and have been living among humans for sometime now. However, the monster don’t have many rights and options to succeeded. This is out of fear of monster’s ability for magic which is profoundly restricted to use unless otherwise.
* Among the limited rights to monsters is getting an education among humans. Monsters are educated, but can’t go to public school (and some cases college) with humans. There are some exceptions to monsters, but they’re mostly the rich ones.
* With some pushback of the monsters and a few humans that support them, the government finally allowed monsters to go to public school among humans.
* Frisk’s school, which is known to be highly intelligent and innovative, is one of the first schools to accept monsters if they pass a difficult test that human students are also given.
I’m leaving it to that since I would like Shorukarts to also be able to add some things. For example, how maybe Frisk and Sans meet and interact with one other. In addition, I may not know what are some inside Muslim customs that the internet can’t find to tell me. But some other notes are that both Undertale and Deltarune characters are here as shown by little Kris’s appearance. Kris is Frisk’s nephew while Chara is Frisk’s best friend. Chara doesn’t go to the same school as Frisk, but they regularly hangout, often when Frisk is babysitting Kris. Also Chara has a huge distrust for monsters and always warns Frisk about them if not more than Frisk’s mother.
Again, happy birthday to Shorukarts!!👏🎊🎁

Tajdid
Tajdīd (Arabic: تجديد) is the Arabic word for renewal. In an Islamic context, tajdīd refers to the revival of Islam, in order to purify and reform society, to move it toward greater equity and justice.[1][2][3][4] One who practices tajdīd is a mujaddid. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tajdid
Mujaddid
A mujaddid (Arabic: مجدد), is an Islamic term for one who brings "renewal" (تجديد, tajdid) to the religion.[3][4] According to the popular Muslim tradition, it refers to a person who appears at the turn of every century of the Islamic calendar to revive Islam, cleansing it of extraneous elements and restoring it to its pristine purity. In contemporary times, a mujaddid is looked upon as the greatest Muslim of a century.[5]
The concept is based on a hadith (a saying of Islamic prophet Muhammad),[6] recorded by Abu Dawood, narrated by Abu Hurairah who mentioned that Muhammad said:
Allah will raise for this community at the end of every 100 years the one who will renovate its religion for it.
— Sunan Abu Dawood, Book 37: Kitab al-Malahim [Battles], Hadith Number 4278[7]
Ikhtilaf (disagreements) exist among different hadith viewers. Scholars such as Al-Dhahabi and Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani have interpreted that the term mujaddid can also be understood as plural, thus referring to a group of people.[8][9]
Mujaddids can include prominent scholars, pious rulers and military commanders. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mujaddid

Pieter Jansz. Saenredam
Pieter Jansz. Saenredam (9 June 1597 – buried 31 May 1665) was a painter of the Dutch Golden Age, known for his distinctive paintings of whitewashed church interiors such as Interior of St Bavo's Church in Haarlem and Interior of the Sint-Odulphuskerk in Assendelft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieter_Jansz._Saenredam
Pieter Saenredam
1597 - 1665
Saenredam was a pioneering Dutch painter of church interiors and topographical views. He was among the first architectural painters to emphasise topographical accuracy in his drawings, although in his paintings variations were introduced for pictorial effect. He was particularly interested in the depiction of natural light flooding vast and complex interiors. Saenredam was born at Assendelft, the son of an engraver. His training took place at Haarlem, with Frans Pietersz de Grebber in whose studio he remained until 1622, and he became a member of the Haarlem guild of painters in 1623. He produced topographical drawings of other towns in the Netherlands, but remained chiefly active at Haarlem and ne was closely in touch with the leading architects of his day, including Jacob van Campen, designer of the Amsterdam Town Hall.

Taqlid (Arabic تَقْليد taqlīd) is an Islamic term denoting the conformity of one person to the teaching of another. The person who performs taqlid is termed muqallid.[1] The definite meaning of the term varies depending on context and age. Classical usage of the term differs between Sunni Islam and Shia Islam. Sunni Islamic usage designates the unjustified conformity of one person to the teaching of another, rather than the justified conformity of a layperson to the teaching of mujtahid (a person who is qualified for independent reasoning). Shia Islamic usage designates the general conformity of non-mujtahid to the teaching of mujtahid, and there is no negative connotation. The discrepancy corresponds to differing views on shia views on the imamate and sunni imams.
In contemporary usage, especially in the context of Islamic reformism, it is often portrayed in a negative light and translated as "blind imitation". This refers to the perceived stagnation of independent intellectual effort (ijtihad) and uncritical imitation of traditional religious interpretation by the religious establishment in general. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taqlid

I dont like to talk about 9/*1 because theres no pleasing nationalists when trying to talk about the racist backlash and rampant Islamophobia that came out of it but there was a stabbing at a mosque in toronto yesterday and a middle aged Muslim caretaker died and this is my neighborhood and my home and i cant stomach people looking me in the face and saying that the backlash doesnt exist or the war on terror was somehow *justified* by 9/*1
The police are not currently classifying it a hate crime but I trust the toronto police about as far as I can spit

Mom: we were ready to leave and she suddenly said she wasn’t going. Come on in, she’s over there but she’s really down. She hasn’t stopped crying. You look beautiful Cris.
Cris: thank you. Hey. You should know that the speech ended up being super boring, Fran Parra gave it, I don’t even know if you know who that is. It was so fucking boring, he went on and on and he sucked up to every teacher, to the boho, the hueso, even Pedro! Cmon man they won’t raise your grades. Ew
Amira: I’ve been thinking about something.
Cris: what?
Amira: what if I take off my hijab?
Cris: why?
Amira: I don’t know. Everything would be easier.
Cris: what would be easier? The thing with Dani? Do you want to get back together?
Amira: I’m just tired of working so hard. I’m fed up with being pointed at and besides, after everything i’ve done to Kasim and Lucas. That’s not being a good Muslim. What am I doing wearing this?
Cris: well, you always say that it’s an effort worth making.
Amira: maybe it isn’t anymore.
Cris: okay then, as long as you’re sure.
Amira: I’m not sure about anything. I’m just lost. I thought I could be hijabi, be with Dani...and have Muslim and non-Muslim friends, but I can't. You can’t have it all.
Cris: Why not?
Amira: It's impossible. I can't do it. Before, when I had a bad day, I would pray and I was okay...But not anymore.
Cris: Look...Let's see if I still have it. Our first selfie when you started wearing the hijab. You said, "if they don't like it, who cares." All cool.
Amira: I don't know if I still am the girl from that photo.
Cris: What will change if you take it off? Maybe everything seems awful now. But it's just a tough time. I have tough times with Joana. But then it gets better.
When you really care about something or someone...there can be good and bad times.
Amira: I don't know nothing anymore..
Cris: Everyone is going to have a drink. Come. The girls are waiting.
Amira: I can't, Cris.
Cris: Okay.

SEASON 4 EPISODE 7 CLIP 6 - YOU CAN’T DO EVERYTHING AT ONCE
22 MAY FRIDAY 18:15 H
Mum: We were prepared to go, and suddenly she said “no”. Come in, there she is, in the patio, but she’s really down, she hasn’t stopped crying this afternoon. You look really beautiful, Cris
C: Thank you. Hey. Just so you know, in the end the speech was a downer. Fran Parra gave it, I don’t know if you know him… A really big nerd, girl, I can’t stand him, I swear, he blurted out all of the clichés that exist, and also licking all the teachers' boots; the Boho, the Bone, Pedro… like, dude, he’s not gonna round up your score.
A: I’ve been thinking about something.
C: What?
A: What if I take my hijab off?
C: Why?
A: I don’t know. Then, everything would be easier.
C: But what would be easier, girl? Dani’s thing? Do you wanna go back to dating him?
A: I’m tired of making an effort, Cris. I’m tired of being pointed at, and also, with all I've done… Then Kasim, and Lucas… That’s not being a good Muslim. What shall I do with this?
C: I don’t know, you always say that it is an effort that is worth it.
A: Maybe it isn’t anymore.
C: Okay. If you are sure of it…
A: No, I’m not sure of anything. The thing is, the thing is, I don’t know anymore. I thought I could be a hijabi and be with Dani and… and have Muslim and non-Muslim friends, but no. I can’t. Everything at once… You can’t do everything at once.
C: Why not?
A: Because no. At least, I can’t. I don’t know. Before, when I had a bad day, I prayed and it went off, but now, now I can’t even do that.
C: Look. Let’s see if I have it. The first selfie we took when you decided to wear a hijab, do you remember? You said “if someone doesn’t like it, they better not look then”. So cool.
A: I don’t know if I’m the girl in that picture.
C: Amira, but what’s really gonna change if you take it off? Like, maybe now everything seems like it’s the end of the world, but… it’s just a rough patch. Look, with Joana, I have shitty patches, but really shitty, but then… it’s not that bad, right? I suppose that when something or someone is truly important to you, there are good moments, bad ones, worse ones… Right?
A: I don’t know. I don’t know anything.
C: They are all going out for some drinks. Come with us. Come on, the girls are waiting.
A: I can’t, Cris, I can’t.
C: Okay.
