Who is the sanest/most normal TF2 merc but only the worst choices

I've seen this poll twice already, once on tumblr where all the mercs were listed (with Engineer winning), & once on Youtube with only Engie, Heavy, Spy, & Sniper (Heavy was winning).

So, I thought I'd come up with my own version of this post, because I was wondering who the TF2 fandom considered the most sane out of the least sane guys of the bunch. So...

If the Volturi truly wanted to hurt Carlisle, they would without a doubt, come after Esme and I think Carlisle and Esme know that too. Obviously they'd target the whole family, but it would be more effective to specifically focus in on Esme. Not necessarily hurting her, but being able to emotionally blackmail Carlisle with violence as a possibility.

...jfc I just realized sth on Eir Stegalkin in GW2. Bc of her confident decision what backfired on all bc she had so much confidence in her team she ignored the "Maybe we should rest" comments and blames herself for everything she's acting highkey depressed and just hides it on main.

It's moreso showing on how she focuses on her work ALOT, undervalues her legacy and claims that her best years are over & only helps the Norn village leader in action if it's insisted that much. When she helps, she's willing to do whatever it takes to atone for her sins and undo her mistake on being as confident as Norn ppl seem to be (bc they DID survive the Dragon Corruption and found a new land area bc of their persistence and Animal Spirit Gods and are raised to strive for greatness and show off).

Sometimes she has stupid spontaneous ideas for helping ppl and when they backfire she spirals fr and acts really mf reckless during the said trips, even risking her own life while she's at it. She doesn't want to die bc the dragons need to die first, but she IS doing things what neglect her life survivability and doing serious missions on her own bc of her own rashness & not wanting to burden others.

Eir is both stunning and relatable on this in the core level of "willing to do XYZ if it's needed, even when it comes with a cost on her own health". Jfc she's an icon

Incoming Stay Night spoilers, but anyways, this post is honestly exemplified by the Shirou -> Archer Emiya dynamic. Shirou would never behave the way Archer does, or be so callous...right?

Until he's pushed so far and made so jaded that he does. And the best part is that you can still see aspects of Shirou in Archer. A lot of Archer's eloquence and aloof demeanor is an act to throw Rin off his scent, but he can't help but make her morning tea, or clean house, he can't help but want to help, because that part of Shirou is intrinsic to their (soft) cores.

Shirou and Archer seem inverse to each other. Optimist and pessimist, idealist and realist, and both with skewed world views from their shared yet different traumas. But they're still the same person, after a long twisting journey. Shirou would do and say the things Archer does, but it takes a hell of a lot for him to get there.

I don't have a lot more to say about it, but it's just fun to see a strong example of a post in media and a character I already like so much.

i often think about how those responsible for curbing, monitoring and punishing p.rostitution were also the same ones who actively sought out these w.omen's services.

how many times had f.antine made a note of faces of the law so she could try to avoid them, only to have them in her arms when they were off duty. how many of them would willingly arrest a w.oman for the slightest offence?

and what makes it worse is the understanding that while on duty, they're just scouting through the group, choosing their next bit of fun while having the ability to simply destroy their livelihoods with nothing more than a thread of reason.

so j.avert watching from the shadows is not unusual to f.antine, but she can't help the bitterness that comes with being arrested by a man whose colleagues throw coins at her feet every other night. especially when she has been disregarded and treated badly by these men while offering her b.ody to them. yet again, it simply solidifies that she would be punished for her altercation with b.amatabois; especially when the inspector's colleagues conducted themselves similarly with no consequences as to their behaviour.

Casual reminder I fully subscribe to the "elves have droppy ears" when they're young headcannon and I 100% extend this idea to my demons who also have pointy ears.

Therefore; Faelen had droopy ears. Ian, Kuro, Shiro and Cerelia all had droopy ear tips.

(Have teenage Faelen with a bonus baby Ian in the upper left corner who just lost his first tooth)

My sister and I just watched Hocus Pocus 2. No spoilers here. I just wanted to say I loved it, and it wrapped up a lot of loose ends from the original movie, and I really don’t understand why it was apparently getting a bad audience reception.

Thinking about how Edward had to suffer through Esme's accumulation of human memories. Just every time she realised what happened at the hands of Charles, perhaps the first time someone moves too quickly or speaks too loudly. The memory is so vivid all of a sudden, and unfortunately Edward has to witness it too.

The way Esme can't place why she feels so empty; then she witnesses a mother cradling her child in her arms, and the memory of Esme's own baby boy practically winds her.

And all while this is happening, Carlisle remains completely oblivious while Edward has to endure it. Esme's memories both return randomly and are too private for Edward to share with Carlisle unless he feels as if Carlisle needs to know something.

Esme struggles through too, both ashamed and conscious that Edward will know. She apologises to him every time she stumbles across another recollection, but eventually she realises that Edward is probably the person she needs to speak to when trying to understand her emotions for Carlisle.

They have a lot of heart to heart conversations about her past and how it attributes both to her self-worth and the fear of it impacting how Carlisle will see her. And it also means that talking to Edward helps him feel more comfortable speaking to Carlisle about things she has revealed to him.

I've only watched how that's defeated and that looks like p a i n if you don't go for the quickest and bloodless solution w/o any rewards and honestly, if you hack its weapon and gear I understand you. That Abnormality deserves to be mocked.

I can't help but pick Lancer Cu too, haha. Hope that's alright!

Going over the points left to right, top to bottom

= Pale crush <> (the medium/concept of moirallegiance just jives with me and I'm too gay for women to thirst over him carnally but boy howdy can I do it emotionally)

= 'Most' is too strong of a phrase, but I do think that sometimes people soft-ball Cu. Like you said in yours on him, he's silly, serious, ferocious, clever, and plenty more. But it can feel like people at times cherry pick or ignore certain aspects in favor of others. He can be all of the above - he's a very multi-faceted person, which is a mark of a good character!

= Cu as a character from Fate is one I wouldn't mind hanging out with. From legend I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole (much less be close enough TO touch him with one in the first place). That said I do admire how even in intolerable circumstances, he can grit his teeth and keep going, even if it's putting him in a depression. His loyalty is a double-edged sword as well. It means if you're at the top of his priority list, it's 'til death makes him quit. If someone who has command over him sics him on you...well we saw how that went for Ferdiad. It'll be a closed-casket funeral or cremation if you're a good enough fighter.

= I hinted at this in point two, but Cu has the Standard Messed Up Traits most heroes in old legends had, if you're going by the Tain. Misogyny, non-con, and a temper typical of the half-divine to name a few. Even in the more palatable Fate version, he's still got a lot of blood on his hands

= Exposing myself a bit with the projection haha. But this blends sort of with the free space wherein I definitely see Cu as having ADHD. Sure there's the energetic aspect, but that's the easy pickings. I think there's a good chance he has RSD (though you have to look more at original legend than Fate text for this), that fun flash temper some can have amidst a few other emotional disregulation, etc. And calling back to that 'can keep on trudging with his head down even if he's getting depressed' point, I am fortunate enough to not be in that place presently, but do identify with it.

= Making him worse is easy. You need two cups stress, one cup loss, a dash of antagonism, and-

= Won't go over this one too much. I've listed some of Cu's faults above, but he's pretty and that's a good blinder lol. This is pretty standard for most Fate characters.

= I do think about him pretty regularly haha. Mostly in the context of YariYumi or roleplay or fic.

= Feel like this point is pretty much explained by the points touching on his good and bad qualities above

= Two points up lol

= This is again mostly in YariYumi context, but because Cu and Emiya exemplify one another's life choices and the consequences thereof so well. Cu is a person who gave up a lot for a big dream, and maybe it wasn't worth it in the end. Maybe what he had to live for outweighed the fame he died for, in his mind. Maybe it was what it was and he's at peace with it. But Cu has lost a lot of people in his quest for fame - both by killing them (Ferdiad, Connla), losing them due to politics (Fergus, Lugaid), dragging them along into danger (Laeg, his horse) or by dying (Emer, his little-known daughter Finscoth). He may keep his head up and accept his choices, but that is a lot of loss for one person to bear, and all within a purportedly short lifetime.

= Those points aside....it is an absolute crying SHAME that Fate has not given us a proper Cu Berserker yet, or at least shown us a riastrad. It's a shame they don't explore the losses he's experienced as much. It's a shame that they don't let us see beyond the mask of cheer or ferociousness, because there's a lot to explore.

= All that being said, let this man rest!! Goddamn!! He's been through so much alive and dead and he needs a break! Outside of particular circumstances, I will not be giving him a break
