Synopsis: To fight extreme crimes like terrorism, kidnappings, etc. three 'S' groups were formed: SAT, SIT and the newly formed NPS. Unlike SAT, who only focus on saving the hostages' lives and prioritize public safety over the lives of the criminals, NPS's main goal is to arrest the criminal alive.

Kamikura Ichigo is a former boxer and is the main fighter of NPS. His principle is not to let anyone die no matter what and the only weapon he uses is his fists. Iori Soga is the sniper of SAT, and he thinks criminals deserve death and will not hesitate to kill. Their different views often cause conflicts, but the looming threat of dangerous terrorists necessitate the two teams to work closely together. (Guys I'm sorry there will be no bromance between them :c they actually dislike each other most of the time. Well in the end they kinda warm up to each other but that's not as cool...)

Bakumatsu Aibou-den (2022)

If you ever watched Bakumatsu-themed media before, you will probably recognize these two and think to yourself, "What the fuck?".

Yes, it's a movie where Sakamoto Ryouma and Hijikata Toshizou must join forces to solve a murder mystery, and it's based on a novel that is totally not written by a manic 15-years-old Gintama fan, or at least that's what Asianwiki claims. It is cringe all the way through, and I absolutely love it.

I don't have the energy to write a real review, but I guess I can recommend it to anyone who is interested in one of the following:

Hijikata being absolutely incompetent

Ryouma pulling Colombo-style antics and farting constantly

Ryouma receiving unrecoverable psychic damage from some bald fuck who can see into the future and is able to describe American capitalism to him

A lot of Edo era time counting

More farting

This hilariously timed, and never mentioned again tragedy in three parts:

Comparable to: Yakuza and The Family (kmovie) ; High and Low (jmovie)

Both movies are very entertaining and fun to the point where you’ll enjoy yourself probably if your into those type of movies where there’s a lot of fighting sequences and a bunch of action. The storyline isn’t much, it’s there yes, but kinda ho hum, like nothing big or grandeur though. It’s quite hilarious too. Basically don’t take the films too seriously, give a try maybe 15 min to see if you might like them.

Mini-review:

I'm going to start by saying that, from the very moment this drama was announced, it was like a dream come true for me: a story inspired by music from one of my favorite artists of all time (Hikaru Utada) and starring one of my favorite actresses in the world (Hikari Mitsushima). My expectations were obviously super-high, and fortunately, it didn't disappoint at all. Sure, there were a lot of clichés, but I firmly belive that clichés are great when you know how to use them properly, and it's clear Yuri Kanchiku knew exactly what she was doing. The acting is brilliant and there is no weak link in the cast, but I need to give a special shoutout to Taisei Kido. I had never seen him before and I felt he was so charming and charismatic, I really hope this becomes a breakout role for him. Another thing I want to highlight is the cinematography, which is absolutely gorgeous and unlike anything I've seen in a J-drama, it looked even better than many movies. To sum up, this is without a doubt the best Netflix Japan Original released so far.

P.S. The one little complain that I have is that I wish they had used more Utada music, beyond the title songs and Automatic. They have a lot of hits that span more than 20 years, and those songs would have helped a lot with setting up the time-periods. But anyway, that's it.
