Visual Analysis of the Slow Burn: My Journey to You, Story of Kunning Palace
Tumblr media
How do you film a slow-burn romance?
One of the challenges of filming slow-burn romances is that creators have to figure out how to slowly build tension and intimacy between two characters without testing the audience's patience. We have to feel a couple’s chemistry and growing feelings for one another even if it takes a long time for them to get together.
And here's where cinematography and visual parallelism can be a helpful tool. Visual parallelism is when we link two or more characters, events, storylines, etc. through a shared image. When we see repeated imagery, our brains connect those moments and give them more meaning than if we had looked at them in isolation. Because of this, visual parallelism can help complicate our understanding of characters and the world around them without having to spell out those nuances in the script.
In slow-burn romances, visual parallelism can be used to:
Connect characters who, on the surface, appear incompatible or unattracted to one another;
Signal major moments of change in a show's romantic storyline;
Compare and contrast a new relationship with a character’s past relationships;
And much more!
I think two dramas that use this technique in interesting ways are My Journey to You and Story of Kunning Palace.
My Journey to You
Tumblr media
Before we jump into that scene, let’s talk about some of the visual techniques My Journey to You (MJTY) uses to establish the enemies-to-lovers relationship of its secondary couple, Gong Shangjue and Shangguan Qian.
Something I immediately noticed about MJTY is that the show loves using certain camera angles and blocking patterns (or how actors are positioned in relation to one another) to define characters’ personalities and their relationships. This repeated imagery is an example of visual parallelism, and in the case of Shangjue and Qian, the show then uses breaks in that parallelism to communicate the subtle changes in their relationship over time. Through this technique, we see their growing feelings for each other even if we don’t hear the characters express those feelings with words.
For example, at the beginning of the show, Shangjue is usually shot from a low angle while Qian is usually shot from a high angle, and the repetition of that camera language reflects the characters' constant game of cat and mouse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In cinematography, low-angle and high-angle shots are often paired to visually enhance the power imbalance between characters. Low-angle shots make the subject look more powerful and threatening while high-angle shots make the subject look weaker and more vulnerable.
Qian, who is an assassin, has infiltrated Shangjue’s clan, and he is immediately suspicious of her identity and allegiances. He is cold and intimidating towards her, and she does everything in her power not to get caught. But because she is particularly good at reading and manipulating him, Shangjue soon finds himself intrigued by her. He might be filmed looming over her like he has more power in the situation, but her weakness is an act. We know this because we can see how Qian isn’t filmed with such high angles when interacting with characters who know her true identity and nature like Yun Weishan or Gong Yuanzhi. She is pretending to be subservient and delicate to seduce Shangjue specifically.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Side Note: One of my FAVORITE moments in MJTY is Shangjue and Qian’s “do you still think I’m gentle?” scene in Episode 12. Not only is the writing and acting electric, but the camera’s subtle shift in angles pinpoints the moment Shangjue begins to feel sexually attracted to Qian. When she gently blows on his fingers, the camera quickly pans to an eye-level shot and we see Shangjue clench his jaw. After that, the camera uses less extreme angles to film his conversation with her—his moment of desire and her strategic thinking equalized their power imbalance.
Tumblr media
Which brings us to the famous bath scene in Episode 17.
Whenever they share a scene, Shangjue is usually positioned at a higher level and facing forward in a thronal position while Qian is at his side, looking up at him obsequiously. The lack of visual alignment in their actor blocking represents how the characters can’t be completely vulnerable or honest with each other while the dominant/submissive pose plays up the sexual tension of their interactions.
So we know that the bath scene represents a critical turning point in their relationship because of the break in parallelism:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only are they sitting at the same level while facing each other, the camera is set at a much more neutral over-the-shoulder and eye-level angle. Over-the-shoulder and eye-level shots are often used to bring intimacy to a scene and that camera language reinforces the actors’ relaxed physical acting and flirtatious dialogue. The two characters are sharing a moment of honest pleasure and have temporarily let their guards down, which is why Qian decides to take the opportunity to share her true intentions for wanting to marry into his family. It’s probably the most truthful and revealing conversation she has had with Shangjue up until this point and creates complications for each others' plans.
Tumblr media
One of the lingering questions many MJTY viewers have about Shangjue and Qian’s relationship is whether or not Qian developed real feelings for him in the end. While the script could have done a better job of developing her character’s arc at the textual level, I think the show’s thoughtful use of visual parallelism gives us the answer.
Not only does their final scene together subvert the camera language and actor blocking we talked about, but it also parallels an earlier scene where we can be reasonably sure of Qian’s honesty: the torture scene. And it’s the juxtaposition of what is shown versus what is said that gives us what I’d consider a satisfyingly bittersweet conclusion to their love story.
Story of Kunning Palace
Tumblr media
Unlike MJTY, which uses visual parallelism to show changes in the secondary couple’s relationship, Story of Kunning Palace (SOKP) uses this technique to represent the undeniable compatibility of its main couple, Jiang Xuening and Xie Wei.
Given the popularity of the show's second and third male leads, many viewers have expressed confusion as to if and when Xie Wei truly emerges as the rightful male lead. Even as a slow-burn romance, SOKP is slow slow.
And yet when we take a step back and look at the show’s visual storytelling, particularly its use of symbolism and parallelism, we not only see why these two characters complement each other but how they find healing in their (admittedly messy and toxic) love. At its core, SOKP is a story about two traumatized and self-loathing people finding "the one" who still sees them as worthy despite all their flaws. Ning-er and Xie Wei are like two jagged pieces of a broken mirror reflecting one another’s sins and virtues, and the show constantly reminds us of that deep connection with how it juxtaposes the two characters on screen. (Just look at that split screen above--they literally complete each other.)
We see this connection from the moment Ning-er and Xie Wei are introduced in Episode 1:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The composition and camera movement directly mirror each other.
When we see parallelism in the portrayal of two characters, we should stop and think about the similarities and differences between them. Both Ning-er and Xie Wei share the trauma of having grown up alienated from their birth families, and the pain of what they experienced drives their ruthless desire for revenge and power. During the show’s first timeline, Ning-er violates her innate sense of goodness while Xie Wei hides his true self.
Side Note: SOKP also reminds us of this connection with its consistent use of a fire motif. Throughout the show, we often see Ning-er and Xie Wei surrounded by candles, furnaces, fires, etc., and this symbolism comes to a head in Episode 34 when Xie Wei desperately argues that they belong together because they've both been forged by the fire of their upbringing.
Tumblr media
And yet at the same time, as noted by several characters, they are both incredibly loyal people, sacrificing themselves to change the fate of the people they care for.
Both Ning-er and Xie Wei overlook these redeeming qualities about themselves, but they “see” them in the other, which the show demonstrates through the visual parallelism of their gazes.
Tumblr media
In Episode 14, Ning-er asks Xie Wei:
Jiang Xuening: Between my past self and present self, who do you think is better? Xie Wei: Be it the past or the present, it is all you. You're the one and only Miss Ning'er. Besides, the present exists because of the past. Just face it as is. But if we have to make it clear, I think if the present Ning'er knows what she wants, she will be well. And she'll be even better in the future.
In a previous analysis of Episode 14, I've noted how "Ning-er's character arc isn't just about becoming a better person but also about recognizing that she has always had goodness in her and that goodness makes her life worth just as much as someone like Zhang Zhe....Despite being brash and cunning, Ning-er is also tenacious, brave, and even kind (all of which Xie Wei recognized when they first met years ago). She is an 'unrefined jade', someone who can choose a more righteous path than the one she started on. And he sees her. He truly sees her."
So across the show's multiple timelines, the camera will linger on Xie Wei's tender gaze toward Ning-er. In this case, the parallelism of such a distinctive shot communicates something that Ning-er doesn't realize: Xie Wei sees and loves sides of her that she is unable to accept about herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She eventually starts seeing him too.
During the first timeline, Ning-er sees Xie Wei as a threat and warily engages him only out of desperation. But despite her fear, Ning-er also recognizes his true qualities enough that by the second timeline, she implicitly trusts him to help her carry out her own goals. She unlearns her assumptions about him and pushes him to find meaning in life beyond his self-destructive need for revenge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it's fitting then that during their private wedding, Ning-er and Xie Wei are shown gazing at each other, fully aware of and accepting of their true natures:
Jiang Xuening: “I’ve seen your light and your darkness, your vulnerability, and your madness. I know everything about you that is known or unknown to others. I might even say that I know you better than you do.”
They've fully entrusted themselves with one another.

Month 10 - Leafbare
Scorch was antsy. The world seemed to be both slipping out of her reach and closing in all around her at the same time.
Ever since Nightfrost’s funeral, Yarrowshade hadn’t so much as tried to speak to her outside of what was necessary for patrols. A guilty voice in the back of her head said, “this is your fault. You drove him away.” She tried to shrug it off. If she had managed to drive him away so easily then she didn’t need him in her life anyway. Still, her heart sank every time his gaze found her and then moved immediately away.
After Russetfrond had returned with the news of the mouse tail, new evidence of Razor’s hunters had come in every day. Paw prints in the snow came up to the border but almost never crossed it. They left bits of prey where it could be found, never more than a mouthful but enough to make the point clear - he was going to starve the Clans out until they either gave in to his demands or became weak enough that he could take what he wanted by force.
She had seen him do it before on a smaller scale. He would forbid cats from sharing food with an individual until they came to him on their bellies begging for forgiveness. It always worked, without fail, and seeing someone suffer like that was a good incentive for other cats to stay on his good side, her included.
It was only a matter of time before he came scratching at their door, so to speak, and it made her want to head for the hills. If she left in the night, how far could she make it before sunrise? No… She would surely freeze, and that, she told herself, was the only reason she didn’t go.
Goldenstar crossed the camp towards her and she almost laughed at herself. What a pathetic liar you are.
“Hey,” Goldenstar said, “You doing alright?” Goldenstar seemed nervous, which she had been ever since Scorch had stormed off and come back to camp late at night. It was like she’d been walking on eggshells, afraid that if she said the wrong thing Scorch would storm off again and never come back. Given her prior train of thought, Scorch supposed it wasn’t an unrealistic assumption, but still, it was a little annoying. She almost preferred Razor’s heavy-pawed attempts to keep eyes on her over whatever this was - at least that she understood and could anticipate.
“I’m fine,” she shrugged. “A bit restless.”
“Do you want to go hunting?” Goldenstar offered, chewing her lip. Scorch managed to keep her expression impassive but the nervousness was starting to irritate her.
“I suppose,” she said, glancing away. Goldenstar shuffled awkwardly. What had happened to her? Scorch had no idea what had transformed the brash and careless cat who had welcomed her into such a simpering kit but she didn’t like it. She really hoped it had nothing to do with her connection to Razor. Surely, Goldenstar wasn’t trying to avoid his wrath by treading carefully with her.
“Um, okay,” Goldenstar said after a beat. “I was thinking we could try the creek, see if there’s anything around.”
Scorch sighed and stretched, arching her tail over her head with a disinterested yawn. “Sure, why not. Maybe we’ll see a single bird.” Goldenstar gave a breathy laugh and Scorch barely stopped herself from frowning. Ugh, why was she being so insufferable?
“Hopefully we’ll catch more than that,” said Goldenstar as they started out of camp.
“We’ll have to see,” shrugged Scorch. “I’d hate to have to fight Fogkit for my evening meal.” Goldenstar laughed again, this time more genuinely, and Scorch allowed herself to smile.
“Yeah,” she said, “we’d all starve! That Fogkit could take the whole Clan on single-pawed.” Scorch huffed a laugh through her nose and tried to pretend that things were normal again.
“We could outwit her, I think,” she said. “Our brains together, she wouldn’t stand a chance.”
“Yeah,” Goldenstar said with that same breathy laugh and Scorch’s smile faded. Dammit. Sighing, she turned her face forward to focus on the cold ground ahead of her. The snow had mostly melted except for where it laid in shadow or had fallen particularly thickly and the world was a stretch of ugly brown grass and frozen mud which did nothing to help her sour mood.
Goldenstar fell quiet, possibly sensing her annoyance, and, for a moment, Scorch wanted to apologize but she killed that thought immediately. Goldenstar was the one being weird, why should she feel bad for being rightfully upset?
For a while they walked in silence until Goldenstar spoke up again. “Uh, hey. I’m sorry.”
“What for?” Scorch glanced at her with an aloof lift of her brows.
“Uh, I don’t know,” Goldenstar laughed nervously. “For being weird? I can’t help but feel like you’re mad at me.”
Scorch briefly considered denying it but decided she didn’t have the energy. “I mean, a bit yeah. You keep acting like you’re afraid you’ll upset me. It’s annoying.” She ignored the fact that  she had done the same thing for months. At least she had the good sense to try and hide it.
“Oh,” Goldenstar winced. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“Why?” Scorch asked.
“Huh?”
Scorch shook her head with another sigh. “Why have you been acting so weird? Is it because I’m not talking to Yarrowshade?”
“No,” Goldenstar shook her head, “although you probably should.”
“He seems content to forget about me,” Scorch rolled her eyes.
“Maybe,” Goldenstar said, “But I think he’s just being an idiot.”
“Him?” Scorch feigned disbelief. “No…”
Goldenstar laughed and said, “I know, I know, but it's true. He tends to deal with his problems by pretending they don’t exist.”
“I see,” Scorch hummed. “I didn’t realize I had become one of his problems.”
Goldenstar blushed and hurriedly tried to say, “Oh, I didn’t mean-”
Scorch cut her off. “I know what you meant. It was a joke.”
“Oh.” Goldenstar blushed harder. “Sorry.” Scorch sighed under her breath and flicked an ear to dismiss the topic. She couldn’t find the energy to come up with a verbal response. Goldenstar continued, “But also, I told him to give you some space and I think he’s taking it the wrong way.”
“Why did you say that?” Scorch tilted her head, intrigued.
“He explained that you were upset that he chose Nightfrost over you and I told him to just give you some time.”
“He said that?” Scorch frowned skeptically.
“Well… Not exactly.” Goldenstar winced. “He said you were ignoring him and he didn’t know why but when he described when it started I kind of put the pieces together.” That revelation made Scorch’s chest tighten. She hadn’t realized Goldenstar could read her so accurately. It made sense but it still made her uncomfortable in her own skin, like someone had suddenly torn away the cardboard box she was hiding behind, leaving her exposed on the cold, empty street.
“Mm,” was all she said.
“He cares a lot about you,” Goldenstar tried gently. “He didn’t realize he was being asked to choose, you know.”
Scorch’s ear twitched. “The choices we make unconsciously are often the most revealing.”
“And sometimes they aren’t actual choices,” Goldenstar said. “Not everything is all or nothing. Yarrowshade loved Nightfrost and he loves you. Those things can both be true at once.”
Scorch found anger building in her jaw. “I don’t recall asking for a lecture, Goldie.”
“Sorry,” Goldenstar sighed. “I just hate to see you two fighting.”
“So don’t watch,” Scorch said.
“It’s not that simple,” Goldenstar said with characteristic stubbornness. “What am I supposed to do when you decide that I have to choose between you and Yarrowshade? Or you and Russetfrond? Am I supposed to abandon my friends to make you happy?”
“Maybe,” Scorch shrugged, feeling contrary. She knew that was unreasonable but so what? Maybe she wanted to hear someone would choose her over another every time! Was that so selfish?
Definitionally, said the voice in her head.
Fine, she thought back, maybe I’m selfish, then.
“You don’t really think that,” Goldenstar said and Scorch felt like she was hoping saying it would make it true.
“So what if I do?” she said, quickening her stride. “Does that make me a monster?”
“No,” Goldenstar said, keeping pace, “I just feel like you would be upset if I asked you to do the same.”
“Then you don’t really know me,” Scorch said. “If you asked me to choose between two people I would choose myself every time.”
“Scorch…” Goldenstar murmured.
“I always have,” she pressed on. “Just ask your precious ‘Aldertail’. I am nothing if not consistent.”
She didn’t know why she was saying this. Her throat was starting to tighten in anticipatory grief, almost like her body was trying to stop her voice from reaching Goldenstar’s ears. Still she continued for some reason. Maybe, she thought, this would be the last straw and Goldenstar would finally show Scorch exactly who she would choose. At least then she would know the truth, be able to be confident that she wasn’t being lied to.
“People can change,” Goldenstar said, leaning closer. “I’ve always believed that.”
Scorch laughed in her face. “You have no idea how little you know, Goldie. Cats don’t change.”
“They can,” Goldenstar pressed, her eyes painfully compassionate. “If given a reason to, they can decide to be different. To be better.”
“Well, we’ll have to agree to disagree,” Scorch said tersely. “Look, there’s the creek.” Goldenstar turned to spot the little trickle of water running between a few small trees and sighed in defeat. Scorch grinned triumphantly but the victory was hollow. She couldn’t help but wish Goldenstar was right. Sadly, she knew the truth. She could not change just like Ghost could not change, just like Razor could not change. They were creatures of habit, all of them.
We deserve each other, she thought bitterly.
Without another word, the two of them split off to go hunting along the creek bed. It was unpleasant work, especially in places where the mud was less frozen than expected and squelched in between her freezing toes.
Goldenstar managed to catch a vole and Scorch felt sick when she turned around to grin proudly at her before she remembered their argument and the smile fell off her face. It’s alright! she wanted to say, Forgive me for what I said! Please love me again! Some prideful stubbornness kept her lips sealed.
She wandered southward along the creek, her mouth open to the scents of water plants and little beasts. Yarrowshade and Barleypaw had been here recently, Sagetooth and Pantherhaze sometime before then. She turned away from the creek, towards the EarthClan border, hoping to find a space free from reminders of her Clanmates.
“Hey, don’t go too far!” Goldenstar called but she didn’t listen. She wanted to be alone. Maybe Goldenstar would take her own advice and give her some space. The sound of pawsteps behind her implied the opposite. She quickened her pace.
As she walked, a new smell reached her jaws. It was familiar and meaty, the kind of meat that humans liked, with vegetables and sauce and a funny aftertaste. The familiarity drew her in like a warm blanket. In all of the frustrating novelty of her situation, some cheap familiarity seemed just the thing to ease her mind. Ahead of her, on a little blue dish in the back of a silver trap, she located the source of the smell. She padded up to it, pacing around the trap, sniffing at the food from the other side of the bars. The smell was so pungent it made her mouth water.
“Scorch!” Goldenstar cried, bounding up beside her. “What are you doing?!”
“Hunting,” Scorch purred smugly, eyes locked on her target. Tentatively, she poked at the back of the trap. Every so often, she had been able to pry the back off just enough to scatter the food on the dish and get a bite.
“That’s not hunting, it's one of those things that took Toadpaw!” Goldenstar hissed quietly, glancing around like a human would swoop down on them any second. The back of the trap was solid and, not wanting to get her leg stuck, Scorch began stalking towards the entrance of the trap.
“It’s got food in it, doesn’t it?” Scorch asked. “Trust me, I’ve dealt with these before, I know what I’m doing.” She poked her head inside and sniffed around. Sometimes, there was a trail of food leading you deeper but it seemed like the folk had been sparing with their lure.
“W- Don’t go inside it!” Goldenstar squeaked in distress.
“You’re adorable,” Scorch laughed, causing Goldenstar to blush deeply. “Look, as long as I don’t touch the ground in the back, I’ll be fine. Watch and learn.” Carefully, she crept into the trap, sniffing cautiously at each step before she took it.
Tumblr media
“Scorch, please come out,” Goldenstar begged, hovering nearby.
“No, I don’t think I will,” hummed Scorch. She craned her neck forward to try and reach the dish. Sometimes the food was close enough you could snag the whole dish without getting caught but it seemed like the folk who set this trap had thought of that too. She frowned.
“It’s not worth it,” Goldenstar fretted. “We’ll catch more prey, we don’t need the two-leg food.”
“Can you please be quiet and let me think?” Scorch snapped, turning her head to glare at Goldenstar. Instantly, she knew she had made a mistake. The foot she had been carefully lifting had come down on the paper covering. She had been closer than she’d realized. The trap had been triggered.
The cage rattled as it closed and both she and Goldenstar leapt in fright at the sound. Somewhere off to the side, Scorch heard the sound of humans chattering. She grit her teeth and sighed through her nose. Stupid. Careless. Why had she done that? Something about Goldenstar managed to slip right past her logical brain and it had finally come back to bite her.
“Oh, no,” Goldenstar mumbled, staring with the most miserable expression. “No, no, no, this is my fault! Scorch, I’m so sorry, I- I didn’t mean to-” She pressed her paws up against the cage, searching its bars for a weakness to exploit or a way to get her free.
“Shut up, you moron,” Scorch sighed, pursing her lips against a bitter-sweet smile. Goldenstar looked up at her, tears beading along the bridge of her nose.
“Scorch, I-” she swallowed. Her mouth formed the shapes of several words before it settled on, “I’ll get you out of here. I promise, okay? I’ll find a way. I’m not going to leave you.” Scorch’s gut twisted when she realized she believed that Goldenstar meant it. She struggled to keep her own eyes from welling with tears.
“I know,” she lied with complete confidence. Her mind raced as a plan began to form. “You should go back to camp. Find someone else, someone strong. We might be able to pry it open if we have enough cat power.”
“Okay,” Goldenstar sniffed, smiling through her tears. “I will. I’ll be right back, just sit tight, okay?”
“Okay,” Scorch said. “I’ll be right here.” Goldenstar nodded and raced away, paws pounding over the dead grass as she disappeared up the hill. Once she had vanished from sight, Scorch let out a sigh and hunkered down to wait. The humans would be upon her soon. They were never far from the traps, especially in the winter. She could already hear them approaching from the trees that marked the border with EarthClan. At least, she thought, Goldenstar was long gone. She knew she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself if her mistake got the Clan's leader taken as well. Unlike Scorch, Goldenstar had cats who needed her.
Two humans arrived, crooning to her gently and talking softly between themselves. Scorch looked up at them and tried to smile in the most inviting way she could.
“Please,” she begged, the image of a polite and gentle cat, “have mercy.”
One of the humans produced a blanket and threw it over her cage, plunging the world into darkness. She sighed and braced herself for whatever was to come. It was nice while it lasted, she thought.

RippleClan: Moon 17

RippleClan wins back their lost territory from AshClan.
[Image ID: Burdockpaw, Oilstripe, Weedfoot, and James watch as Barkfur and Bearchaser run off in the upper right corner.]
“Behind you!” Oilstripe yowled. Burdockpaw spun and swung his claws at the AshClan warrior launching at his flank. His claws connected with the warrior’s cheek and disrupted their launch. They tumbled over themselves, giving Burdockpaw the perfect chance to jump on their back. He bit into the warrior’s shoulder. The warrior squirmed and kicked, but Burdockpaw held on. Eventually, the warrior landed on their back and smashed Burdockpaw. They scurried deeper into the fight that raged along the AshClan border.
There were four cats in the battle patrol; Burdockpaw, Oilstripe, Weedfoot, and James. They hadn’t intended it to be a battle patrol, technically. It was an organized version of the younger apprentices’ mouse-brained plan, where they would move the border back in as a show of strength. AshClan was waiting for them, though, with their own five-cat battle patrol.
Weedfoot tumbled out from behind a tree, her claws locked into Barkfur’s pelt. Barkfur dug into Weedfoot’s shoulder. As Weedfoot howled and Burdockpaw readied himself to help the beloved deputy, James charged into Barkfur. James was a giant compared to Barkfur and threw the scarred brown cat into a tree.
“Where did you learn to fight like that?” Weedfoot panted as Barkfur crawled off.
“I had to handle my fair share of challenges while traveling with humans,” James huffed, spitting brown fur out of his mouth. “That does not mean I enjoy it.”
“Thanks for coming along,” Weedfoot sighed. She noticed Burdockpaw scanning the battle and called, “Burdockpaw, with us!” Burdockpaw scampered up to Weedfoot and James.
Weedfoot led them toward Oilstripe and Bearchaser. The AshClan warrior from earlier ran up to the fighting pair, ready to help Bearchaser, but James stampeded into them. Weedfoot and Burdockpaw dug into Bearchaser’s shoulders and pulled him off Oilstripe. As Weedfoot and Oilstripe turned on Bearchaser, fangs dug into Burdockpaw’s tail and pulled him back. It was a young apprentice, one Burdockpaw didn’t recognize. Her huge eyes bounced in her head. She was frozen, jaws locked on Burdockpaw’s tail.
“I’m sorry,” she gulped, letting Burdockpaw pull his tail free. “Don’t kill me. Please don’t kill me.”
“Why would I kill you?” Burdockpaw snapped. “We’re Clan cats. We don’t kill each other.”
“You’re not a real Clan, though,” the apprentice whined.
“What?” Burdockpaw hissed, sneering. The apprentice’s back arched. She stepped back, eyes stuck on Burdockpaw.
“Nettlestep!” the apprentice cried. A loud snarl snapped Burdockpaw backed into the battle just as a golden-ginger molly threw him onto his shoulder.
“I’ve got him, Smallpaw!” Nettlestep yowled.. As Nettlestep glanced over her white-speckled shoulder, Burdockpaw freed his front paw and sliced his claws against Nettlestep’s belly. Blood dribbled between his pads. Smallpaw screeched as Nettlestep stumbled back and Burdockpaw scrambled free, throwing himself into a sparring position. Smallpaw ran to her mentor’s side and pushed against her, shaking.
“I’m okay, Smallpaw,” Nettlestep purred, curling around her belly.
“AshClan, fall back!” Bearchaser spat. The other AshClan and RippleClan cats all sported their fair share of torn fur, bruises, and scratches. James groaned and plucked brown fur out from between his paws while Weedfoot and Oilstripe stood back to back, panting. Barkfur and the other AshClan warrior gathered beside Bearchaser, who had a cut above his eye. Smallpaw watched Burdockpaw like a stampeding horse as she helped Nettlestep over to their Clanmates. RippleClan stayed put as AshClan slunk into their territory.
“We did it!” Oilstripe gasped. “We finally beat them! We beat them, Weedfoot! We beat them!” Oilstripe shoved her face into Weedfoot’s neck, purring deeply. Weedfoot purred back and groomed her former apprentice’s head.
“We need to mark the old border while we have the time,” Weedfoot sighed, glancing between James and Burdockpaw. “Can you two handle it?”
“I suppose,” James sighed, spitting out more fur. “I’m simply glad that whole ordeal is over.”
“I’ll show you where to mark,” Burdockpaw said. He shook out his pelt (and the odd guilt that rippled out from his blood-soaked foot) and trotted up to James.
“You were great, Burdockpaw,” Oilstripe purred, still out of breath. “Really. We wouldn’t have driven them off without your help.”
“Thanks, Oilstripe,” Burdockpaw said, standing tall under the praise. A thought flickered over Oilstripe’s eyes. She moved away from Weedfoot and studied Burdockpaw. The red tom panted and rubbed his dirty paw into the grass.
“Burdockpaw,” Oilstripe hummed, tail rising, “how would you like to earn your name early?”
(Oilstripe: 21, female, historian, charismatic, ghost sight)
(Burdockpaw: 11, male, historian apprentice, loyal, interested in Clan history)
(Weedfoot: 66, female, deputy, charismatic, very clever, formidable fighter)
(James: 93, male, caretaker, charismatic, den builder, formidable fighter)

Although Halibutpaw feels better, now Shadowpaw pushes himself too far during training.
[Image ID: Shadowpaw sits in the middle of the screen. Under him, it reads + CONDITION: SORE.]
---
Shadowpaw had his mentor to thank for such a great sparring spot. There was a portion of the territory, north of the shipwreck, where the sand stretched further inland but the ocean only touched it at high tide. The sand mingled with grass and created a soft, effective place to throw his brother as hard as he could.
“Gentle, little Shadow!” Parsley laughed as Shadowpaw once more grabbed Halibutpaw by the scruff and shoved his face into the sand. “We don’t need your brother paying Mr. Fennelspot another visit so soon!” She sat with Rustshade at the edge of the sand, nibbling at an itch above her stump.
“I’m fine, Parsley,” Halibutpaw sighed. He pulled his head out of the sand and sneezed.
“Now my neck hurts,” Shadowpaw groaned. He stretched his neck out but a ripple of pain ran down his spine.
“That’s why you only perform that move on smaller cats,” Rustshade sighed. He got up and stood between the two gray brothers. “You both need to learn how to pace yourselves in a fight. You have a habit of pushing yourselves too far at the start and straining your muscles.”
“That’s better than letting a codebreaker escape,” Shadowpaw said. He gently arched his back, but the muscles around his shoulders were stiff and ached when he moved. Rustshade’s attention shifted to the shipwreck in the distance, where the gentle smoke of the oven drifted into the sky.
“Go back to camp and have some of what Graypaw and Carnationspeckle are cooking,” Rustshade sighed. “I mean it, toms. Straight back to camp, no side-tracking.”
“You aren’t coming with?” Halibutpaw asked, nose twitching like there was still sand inside.
“I want to walk with Parsley for a while,” Rustshade huffed.
“About what?” Halibutpaw asked again. Rustshade’s uncanny eyes merely drifted over Halibutpaw, but that was enough to stop the young tom’s questions.
“Go home and rest,” Rustshade sighed, heading back to Parsley. He whispered something to the tortoiseshell and the pair walked into the trees beyond the beach.
“I might have to talk to Fennelspot,” Shadowpaw groaned as his neck twinged again. “Either that or sleep the rest of the day.”
“Alright,” Halibutpaw mumbled. He walked close to Shadowpaw in the direction of the shipwreck. Shadowpaw had no interest in an adventure at the moment, but he eyed Halibutpaw, just in case he got another troublesome idea. His stocky brother was silent, however.
“It was just a training session, Halibut,” Shadowpaw said, his usual confidence slipping as Halibutpaw’s fur sagged.
“That’s not the problem,” Halibutpaw groaned. “Do… do you think Mom was right to go to war against AshClan? They’re so much bigger than we are.”
“Weedfoot says violence is the best way to show them we’re a serious Clan,” Shadowpaw said.
“I wish we hadn’t attacked Heronflank,” Halibutpaw grumbled. He dragged his paws in the cool sand.
“We were a little excited,” Shadowpaw admitted, ears tilting back.
“I nearly blinded him,” Halibutpaw suddenly snapped, lips curled, “that’s more than being overexcited, Shadow! Ugh, I hate fighting! I hate war!” Halibutpaw kicked the sand. Shadowpaw decided not to point out that Halibutpaw was a warrior apprentice of all things.
“I’m sorry, I picked the wrong words,” Shadowpaw huffed, stopping for a moment. “We won’t fight AshClan forever! Besides, Mom keeps sending us back to camp when we see them.
You probably won’t fight them again.”
“Please don’t tell Graypaw I said that,” Halibutpaw groaned. “She’ll call me a mouse-heart.”
“I’m not stupid,” Shadowpaw scoffed, rolling his eyes. “We’ll leave the bloodlust to her, does that sound good?”
“What sounds good,” Halibutpaw sighed, jogging ahead of Shadowpaw, “is taking a nap!”
“Hey, you know I’m sore!” Shadowpaw yowled. Despite the aches biting at his shoulders, Shadowpaw ran after his brother, hoping he made things just a bit better.

Rustshade and Parsley find a loner on patrol.
[Image ID: A reddish-brown cat sits to the left. Under her, it reads NEW PLAYER: RABBITJOY, 54 MOONS, FEMALE, CHARISMATIC, MASTER WEAVER. Rustshade and Parsley stand to the right. Rustshade says “You came back!”]
---
“Now Mr. Rust,” Parsley hummed as Rustshade led her deeper into RippleClan’s forest, “what was so important that you sent our Clan’s two troublemakers home alone?” Compared to Rustshade’s silent paws, Parsley thundered through the territory; her heavy paws had to land hard to make up for her missing counterbalance. She chose each step carefully, avoiding crunchy leaves while she questioned Rustshade’s intentions.
“I merely wanted to go hunting without those two on our tails,” Rustshade hummed. “You’re the first newcomer to RippleClan, but I don’t know you well.”
“Well isn’t that sweet,” Parsley chuckled. She caught up to Rustshade and walked alongside him. “My story is free to hear, but I’m afraid it’s rather dull. I spent my whole life tending that barn, and this is how the humans thanked me.” She wiggled her stump.
“We’re glad to have you,” Rustshade sighed. “Let me know if the other Clans keep bothering you about your name. I’ll handle them.”
“How gallant,” Parsley chuckled. Her ears shot up as leaves crumbled somewhere off the small dirt path (carved from a year’s worth of cats following the trail to favorite hunting spots). Rustshade noticed it too, for his gaze shot into the trees.
“That was too big to be a squirrel,” he whispered. His tail stiffened and he tasted the air. Parsley smelled it too; it was a cat. She sniffed again, checking for the familiar woodsy scent of AshClan, but instead, the scent of hay and humans drifted through her whiskers.
“A loner,” Parsley hummed. “Must be new to the area. Speaking from experience, strays around here know better than to linger inside your borders.”
“You still have loner scent on you,” Rustshade muttered, flicking his tail toward the noise. “Speak to whoever is out there. Let’s not scare them.”
“Don’t mind if I do,” Parsley hummed. She stepped off the path as more leaves crunched from behind a tree fox-lengths away. Parsley cleared her throat and called, “Excuse me! Hello? We don’t mean to frighten you, but are you aware you’re on Clan land?” The noises behind the tree stilled. “No need to be scared, whoever you are. We don’t go mauling kittypets around these parts. My name is Parsley. Care to share?”
“That’s not a Clan name,” a rattling voice muttered. The tip of a brown tail peeked out from behind the tree. Rustshade passed Parsley, his eyes huge and tail slowly rising.
“Rabbitfall?” Rustshade called. A reddish-brown cat stepped into the light of early dusk. Light blue eyes shifted from tight slits to an open, warming gaze.
“I changed it,” the cat chuckled. “It didn’t fit me anymore. Can you call me Rabbitjoy?”
“You came back!” Rustshade gasped. Rabbitjoy purred and strolled up to Rustshade. She touched noses with him and closed her eyes.
“I couldn’t stay away,” Rabbitjoy hummed. She stepped back and said, “Did you do it?”
“We’re RippleClan now,” Rustshade purred. He motioned for Parsley to come closer.
“After everything that happened,” Rabbitjoy sighed, her harsh purrs making her body shake, “I wasn’t sure RippleClan would survive.”
“We even have loners in our Clan,” Rustshade explained, walking around Parsley. “This is Parsley. She was the first loner we welcomed in.”
“I assume it is a pleasure to meet you,” Parsley said, eyeing Rustshade. “Care to introduce me to your friend?”
“Rabbitjoy was in WheatClan with me,” Rustshade explained, suddenly at Rabbitjoy’s side. “She was part of our group back in the day. She helped me break Weedfoot out of AshClan’s camp. I couldn’t have done it without her.”
“I shouldn’t have left like I did,” Rabbitjoy said, looking away from the two Clan cats. “Lavenderleaf was dead. I… I was going to make a life with her in a new Clan. I didn’t know how I could do that without her.” Rabbitjoy shook her head and straightened up, adding “That was Rabbitfall. I’m Rabbitjoy now. I don’t want my fear to keep me from home.”
“Does that mean you’re ready?” Rustshade asked. His eyes were more intense, more open than Parsley had ever seen Rustshade look.
“I am,” Rabbitjoy said with a deep breath. “I promised I would come back when I was ready, and I don’t break my promises.”
“This way,” Rustshade said, racing through the trees. Parsley scrambled after him, but Rabbitjoy seemed perfectly at ease with Rustshade’s new-found energy. She pelted after Rustshade and slipped into a comfortable rhythm.
“I want to hear everything I missed,” Rabbitjoy cooed as the shipwreck appeared through the trees.
“We’ll be happy to share,” Rustshade hummed. He slowed to a jog as the camp entrance came into view. Rabbitjoy lagged behind him. She stared at the massive shipwreck with eyes as big and helpless as a kit’s.
“Take it from me,” Parsley purred, moving to Rabbitjoy’s side. Rustshade realized his friend had stopped and rejoined her. “This is one of the most welcoming bunch of cats I’ve had the pleasure to meet. The only thing you’ll get from them is a warm hello.” Rabbitjoy released the nervous breath billowing in her chest. She steadied her paws and marched into camp.
Weedfoot must have been telling Oilstripe and Locustpaw a story before the three cats entered camp, as Rustshade’s offspring were sitting beside her, but they were quiet, staring at Rabbitjoy. More faces turned Rabbitjoy’s way as the newcomer studied the sand under her paws, the wreckage that littered camp, the familiar and strange faces peeking out from each den and corner.
Rabbitjoy’s focus settled on Weedfoot. Weedfoot couldn’t look away from the newcomer. Oilstripe stared at Rabbitjoy like she had descended from Silverpelt. Weedfoot’s whiskers quivered. Whispered questions fluttered about as Weedfoot walked toward Rabbitjoy.
“I’m ho—” Rabbitjoy purred. Weedfoot collided into Rabbitjoy. Her round head pressed deep into the soft fur of Rabbitjoy’s neck, which muffled Weedfoot’s crying.
“Rabbit, I’m sorry,” Weedfoot sobbed. “I’m so sorry, I tried to make her run, I’m sorry.”
“Weedy, you apologized when we got you out,” Rabbitjoy cooed, licking Weedfoot’s cheek. “I don’t blame you anymore. I forgave you moons ago.”
Parsley backed up as a crowd formed around Rabbitjoy and Weedfoot. Rustshade vanished behind his daughter. Questions became as common as clouds, but Parsley walked around the Clan toward the warrior’s den. She knew when to give her friends room to breathe, even if others didn’t.

I finished Itto’s story quest and I have to say that he’s not as dumb as he seems. He’s not very smart, indeed, but I don’t think his IQ is as negative as some memes portray. In fact, I thought him to be quite quick-thinking and capable of discerning good from bad options under pressure, indispensable qualities for a good leader. The issue is that when confronted by problems that require puzzle-solving or more logical thinking, he’s really not good with that and will try to solve it banging his head against the problem until it’s solved – with very mixed results.
I really think that if Itto had a different education, he could’ve grown different. Grandma Oni taught him to be a gentleman, the basics of life, but not differential equations. He doesn’t seem the type that would sit his butt in class, but there are many stories of geniuses that were doing all kinds of crazy things to not stay in class, just like Itto would.
But, at the same time, it made me think of a rather sad AU: if she was swapped with Sara, getting to the Kujou clan. Takayuki would take advantage of Itto’s strength and use him to terrorize his rivals, depriving him from any form of love. General Itto would’ve be a terrible sight, scaring off anyone who happened to be in his way, but an ultimately sad man who was taught nothing but loyalty to ideas that just benefitted Takayuki’s shady deals. He’d be his attack dog (with no concept of stealth, that’d be Kuki’s role, General Itto’s invisible hand, but she tries to befriend him, but he’s so closed, still they both have absolute trust in each other). I feel sad just by imagining it.
But, as a tonal whiplash, Sara would be adopted by Grandma Tengu, who’d love her unconditionally. It’s easy to imagine her becoming a magical girl tengu, proclaiming sappy “In the name of justice, I will punish you!” speeches before taking down evil-doers with her incredible speed. She’d be a ray of sunshine in everyone’s lives, even if she’s a bit bird-brained (she’d fall for the glass trick, maybe that’s how she lost her vision during the decree). Her gang would have some romantic name like Holy Quintet (it used to be Holy Quartet, but she convinced disgraced detective trying to recover his honor Heizou to officially join it) and they’d do poses.
In the vision hunt decree, Itto and Sara would have a cat-and-mouse game (since her specialty is speed), but he’d get her vision eventually. So, they have their notice board war, with her wanting her vision back, challenging him many times. Even after her vision is returned, she still challenges him because she realized how sad he is and decided she’d be his friend, trying to have a fight that would be fun for an oni, since she learned from stories onis liked to fight.

Does Clanmew have the canon insults like mousebrain, stupid furball, have you got bees in your brain? Or the phrase "faster than you can say Mouse" or equivalents?
Here's the canon noun insults in Clanmew!
Mousebrain = Wooyass (Dead mouse + Thinking/feeling)
"Woo" is the versatile word in Clanmew for any meal and dead mice. The most common way to phrase mousebrain is "Weeswoo," a 2nd person pronoun and the use of woo as a verb, but if you were using it as a noun it's Wooyass.
It's invoking the image of a mouse who was unable to avoid being hunted, for a human we'd imagine a mouse in one of those little cheese traps.
This is Mousewhisker's Dishonor Title in Clanmew! It's translated as 'Stupidhead' to get the point across better how ineffective and childish the name was. His name roughly goes from "Naihussk" (House Mouse Whisker) to "Wooyass" (Dead Mouse Thoughts)
Stupid Furball = Hheg weesMwesoob (Bezoar + You-Stupiding)
A 'furball' is the lump of fur that a cat coughs up after vigorous grooming. They're annoying but a normal part of life!
This insult changes tone a LOT based on the pronoun you assign to mwesoob. For this example, it's as insulting as possible. You're directly calling someone a complete moron. A more gentle, teasing version would be "Hheg urrsMwesoob," "My respected clanmate is a stupid furball."
BONUS:
"Mwyar hheg nyamMweesoobi, yarrnuf, Hheg nyamMweesoobi wrah" (Yes furball they-stupided, however, furball they-stupided mine) (Yes they're an idiot, but they're MY idiot)
Are there bees in your brain? = "Prryyp: urrsGeroo-een-ffyyff ssarKbkb?" (Question + you head + inside of it + hive bees + they-buzz?)
Questions are always prefaced with an opening particle to indicate they are a question. Without 'Prryyp,' it's a statement!
There are a LOT of different species of bee that Clan cats encounter, with vastly different behaviors. The majority of them are not the eusocial type! The type of bee being referred to here is an eusocial bee that lives in a 'humming' hive, like honeybees.
This could be replaced with other species of bee. A mining bee could suggest they only have one thing on their mind and they're getting tunnel-vision. A bumble bee could mean their thoughts are clumsy and silly.

Screw it my brain rot is so real and SO INTENSE right now Im sharing my thoughts on a Cyberpunk AU for Settphel
Definitely not taking inspo for Setts background from Cyberpunk ER hehe Sett being a street kid (because im in love with league species- there will be vastayans and things in this universe. so Sett is half vas, and his mom full) Whos mom works as a EMT, long hours just to pay the bills and for Sett to go to a corpo school Sett definitely fought a lot because he is street scum going to a corpo school, and half-Vastayan- bros got it rough out here Age 16 is when he gets his first chrome, fist enhancing chrome that make him as strong as like ykno, in league lmao so then theres The Pit, he frequents this after getting the chrome (illegally may I add) and starts bringing home money ofc he tells his Ma its from work, hes found jobs no need to worry Ma, you can start taking less shifts. now this is how it deviates from CPER, Sett actually stays in corpo school (doesnt lose his mom) he climbs that Corpo ladder. But on the side, he manages to take over The Pit and many other underground gangs while doing so. He ends up getting all the way to the top of the Corpo Ladder and becoming the CEO of one of the companies Gets his Ma a lovely cottage outside of the city, away from the struggles and dangers of living there. Esp now that hes got many people out for his head- needs his Ma away and blissfully unaware of his underground shit and safe
For Aphelios..
Nomad makes more sense for Aphelios the more i think about it Growing up way outside of the city, in the "desert" area, but it wont be a desert here, itll be the mountains in this universe lol anyways yeah the religion being very stigmatized. The Solari of the city, hate Lunari. So far the hate leaks into the common people cuz the Solari is in the city and everywhere So they stay in the mountains. Though growing up Alune and Phel are faced with the Corpos wanting to encroach on their land, keep trying to buy it and stuff like that. as they get older, the elders of the clan raising Aphelios to become their assassin, to slowly start killing off Corpos, the important ones, or as important as they can get to. While Alune stays back at the clan, learning everything she can to take over as the leader once the Elders are gone in this, Aphelios just chooses not to speak most of the time, only when he has to he will. Preferring to sign with his sister and anyone who knows it
This is where Sett comes into the picture, now being the main dog of Corpos now, his company wants to forcefully take the Lunari land (under Setts nose too, because Sett isnt the kind of man to take away someones home like that. and people still hold prejudices against Sett being half-vastayan and a former streetkid, so theyd definitely not tell the big man what theyre doing and just push all backlash and blame onto him) Aphelios is tasked to assassinate Sett at a some corpo "ball" (not really a ball its a formal party or something)
At this party, of course Sett is on high alert. He always is really, a lot of people want him dead. So when a strange man comes into the party, dressed to the nines- unfamiliar face- Sett is wary, keeps a keen eye on him all night. Whenever Sett isn't looking though, caught up in conversations, he feels eyes burning into him, but when he looks in the direction its gone. What a good assassin, being able to hide from Sett like that Peaks his interest greatly After awhile, skillfully playing a game of cat and mouse with this stranger, Sett is finally able to get to one of his private rooms and simply waits, his poisoned drink in hand on a plush armchair for the assassin to walk in and make sure the job was done
Much to Phel's surprise, when he sneaks into the room, Sett is waiting for him, the smuggest grin on his face he's ever seen.

Warriors Cats oc-Foxfur’s Backstory
Foxfur was originally a kittypet named Shadow abandoned by her two legs as a young kit left in a cardboard box in the streets of the twolegs. Shadow grew up a stray loner cat on the streets eating leftover food from the trash that the twolegs threw out.
It was not until Shadow came across some strange cats that she never seen on the twolegs streets. They had awesome skills at crouching down and killing mice but not eating them.
“Hello, that was a great catch, I believe I never seen you from around here,” mewed Shadow.
“Exactly what a kittypet would say, go back to your cozy home with your twolegs kittypet!” The strange cat said his mouthful of mouse.
“Kittypet? Twolegs? You mean people, I’m sorry but I’m a stray, my house folks abandoned me when I was just a small kit,” said Shadow glumly.
“What’s your name?” The she-cat mewed.
“I don’t have a name, except my house folks called me Shadow before they dumped me on the streets to fend for myself,” Shadow grumbled.
“What’s wrong with that? You don’t have your food handed to you from a can, you get more freedom outside being a kittypet,” the she-cat meowed.
“I’m not a kittypet, not anymore, I live on the streets,” meowed Shadow.
“Well, then you must be a loner!” The Tom spat.
“If you don’t have house folks and don’t live on the streets then where do you cats live?” Shadow meowed.
“We’re Apprentices training to become warriors, we are wild cats that live in the forest of Thunderclan territory,” mewed the she-cat proudly.
“Warriors? The forest? You think I can live in the forest to train to become a warrior too?” Shadow mewed.
“Clan cats don’t allow loners in!” The Tom cat spat.
“Take it easy on her! She must be starving living off twoleg filth on the streets,” mewed the she-cat.
“Who cares, a former kittypet who gets dumped by its twolegs will never make it on her own!” The Tom cat growled.
“Have some heart Sunpaw! She could use some help from our clan,” meowed the she-cat.
“I’m not giving up my fresh kill to give to a sad loner on the streets!” Sunpaw growled.
“Our clan is still well fed, we need to help this poor cat, it’s twolegs left her with nothing!” The she-cat hissed.
“Oh, alright!” Sunpaw grumbled.
Sunpaw plopped the dead mouse down at Shadow’s front paws.
“Is this, for me?” Shadow mewed.
“Yes, any cat who has been dumped by its twolegs with nothing deserves respect from our clan,” the she-cat mewed.
Without words Shadow started to take big bites out of the mouse gulping it down feeling satisfied from her hunger.
“Yum, I never tasted anything like this, much better than garbage,” meowed Shadow.
“My name is Furzepaw and you met my friend Sunpaw, I told him to give his fresh kill to you,” said the she-cat.
“Thanks Furzepaw, it’s been a long time since I had a real meal,” said Shadow.
“I got an idea! How about you join our clan, we could use some extra apprentices in Thunderclan,” meowed Furzepaw.
“Really?” Shadow meowed.
“As long as you can prove to the rest of Thunderclan that you can fight off other clans, hunt for the other cats of our clan and follow the Thunderclan code,” meowed Sunpaw firmly.
“Code? What’s that?” Shadow mewed.
“It’s the rules run by our clan handed down by our ancestors in Starclan,” Furzepaw mewed.
“Be quiet! Mouse brain! We now broke the Thunderclan code by feeding an outsider!” Sunpaw hissed.
“Yes, but even for a loner cat she couldn’t feed herself on these filthy twoleg streets when her twolegs dumped her, she needs us!” Furzepaw meowed.
“You’re always the one to help cats in need, no matter where they’re from,” grumbled Sunpaw.
“Don’t mind Sunpaw, yes he’s a bit of adurdon at times but it’s only because he doesn’t understand that loner cats who’ve been through a lot would still need help from a clan cat,” mewed Furzepaw.
“I’m not bothered by him, I was just so relived after he gave his mouse to me to fill my belly,” mewed Shadow.
“Come with us to the forest in Thunderclan, leave this twoleg streets of filth behind and our mentors will train you to become a clan warrior!” Furzepaw meowed.
“That’s quite nice of you but what would your clan leader think of me being in their camp?” Shadow questioned.
“We will know once we get to the Thunderclan camp,” meowed Sunpaw.
“Follow us, we’ll lead you into the forest to meet our clan leader,” meowed Furzepaw.
Shadow followed Sunpaw and Furzepaw out of the filthy twoleg streets and into a place where there were more trees but still twoleg nests full of twolegs. Shadow can smell the scent of the air smelling a lot cleaner then what she smelled in the twoleg streets. Shadow never smelled the air this clean in many moons ever since she was a tiny kit before her house folks abandoned her to become a stray.
They left the twoleg streets behind them and after crossing many gardens, twoleg nests, and fences they were now in the lush green forest of Thunderclan territory.
Shadow can tell because there was no more stench of twolegs or their filth that she used to live on in the streets anymore.
She felt more happier getting the scent of the fresh forest air instead of eating out of the trash and being chased by stray dogs.
“No more twoleg filth, I can now hunt in the forest,” thought Shadow.
A smoky black Tom cat with green eyes saw them return back with Shadow.
“Where have you been, Furzepaw?!” The clan’s deputy yeowed.
“We went out to the street to hunt and found this cat living on the streets who was half starved,” meowed Furzepaw.
“Furzepaw told me to give up my fresh kill for this she-cat,” meowed Sunpaw.
“I’m very disappointed in you Furzepaw, you broke the warriors code but you also helped a cat in need, but why did you tell Sunpaw to give up his fresh kill?” The clan deputy meowed.
“This is Shadow, her twolegs abandoned her when she was just a small kit and all she had to eat was twoleg filth off the streets,” meowed Furzepaw.
“Is that true?” The clan deputy asked Shadow.
Shadow dipped her head nodding silently.
“How cruel can those mangy twolegs get?” The clan deputy yeowed.
“I want to train to become a warrior as your apprentice,” mewed Shadow.
“I’m sorry but I’m training Furzepaw, you would have to go to our clan leader Waspstar, she’ll settle something out for you outsider,” said the clan deputy.
“Aren’t you the clan leader?” Shadow asked.
“No, I’m Thunderclan’s deputy, I’m Spotbelly, I work for Waspstar,” said the clan deputy.
“Can you bring me into your camp to meet her then?” Shadow mewed.
“As you wish,” sighed Spotbelly.
Shadow followed Spotbelly and the two apprentices through the undergrowth of the forest and past many pine trees till they reached the Thunderclan camp where the clan leader Waspstar was waiting on high rock.
“Waspstar! We brought you a new apprentice to train to become a warrior!” Spotbelly yeowed from below Waspstar.
“He smells of twoleg filth and looks underfed, what happened for you to bring a kittypet into our forest!” Waspstar meowed.
“Yes, I was a kittypet but only for a while, my house folks abandoned me when I was just a small kit, all I had to eat was two leg filth from the trash in the two leg streets,” meowed Shadow.
“You must prove yourself worthy then, I sense a lot of spirit in you young street cat, what did your former housefolks call you?” Waspstar asked.
“Shadow,” she mewed.
“You will be trained by yours truly Waspstar as your mentor,” mewed Waspstar.
All the other cats stared at Shadow then looked at their leader in surprise.
“Starclan has given me this young cat’s apprentice name, for now on young Shadow will train as my apprentice as Foxpaw, please welcome Foxpaw!” Waspstar meowed.
The other cats in Thunderclan were unsure about their leader welcoming in a loner cat but Furzepaw was so proud of Foxpaw that she came up to her and gave Foxpaw an affectionate lick on the nose.
“The sun is setting, we must rest till tomorrow, then we can start hunting again,” said Spotbelly.
“Where do I sleep?” Foxpaw asked.
“Follow me,” said Furzepaw.
Foxpaw followed Furzepaw through the brambles of the overgrowth till she saw a den.
“This is the apprentice’s den, we as apprentices sleep here,” said Furzepaw.
Furzepaw was starting to become an even closer friend to Foxpaw although she didn’t know what the other cats in Thunderclan had to say about her yet even Furzepaw’s hunting partner Sunpaw still.
Foxpaw knew that Waspstar was going to train her to become a great hunter and warrior of Thunderclan.
Furzepaw and Foxpaw layed next to each other in the apprentice’s den sharing touches grooming each other till they both fell asleep.
This made Foxpaw feel good, she had a close friend and she found herself a place where she could belong in Thunderclan. This is where she belongs.
The End.

This was a short little backstory of my new Warriors Cats oc Foxfur right now she’s known as Foxpaw by Starclan and the clan leader Waspstar even with her being Foxpaw’s mentor to teach her to hunt for fresh kill for the clan and to fight as a warrior to defend their camp from other clans. I had to make it short because I didn’t want to write on this all day, I had to get to a stopping point but this was a short backstory behind my new Warriors cat oc Foxfur.

Random shit ft the WC crossover au, go
No one really knew where Giantstrike was from.
The first memory anyone ever had of him was when Holysnow found him wandering around outside of camp. It had been a clear, quiet, frankly boring day and the medicine cat had been looking for something to do, so he’d gone out to gather herbs, stumbling upon a kit nearly the size of him. The only reason he recognized the kit as such was because his paws seemed a bit too big and his ears a bit too fuzzy.
He had half a mind to leave the giant kit to fend for itself, but he also knew the warrior code decreed that he HAD to help him, so he led him back to camp to meet the Clan.
The kit later explained that his parents had gone missing one night, and that he’d been wandering around for a few days trying to find them, eating bugs and such to survive. When asked about his age, he said he thought he was about 5 moons old, as he’d seen the full moon about 5 times, but he wasn’t quite sure exactly how old he was.
Holysnow consulted the leader about this, and they came to the conclusion that the new kit could become an apprentice alongside the next generation, which were all due for an apprentice ceremony within the next moon or so. However, there was one thing left to do.
After a few hours of discussion, Holysnow asked the kit for his name.
“My name? Uhmm… I dunno… I don’t really remember… Mama didn’t call me much, I usually stayed right next to her, and I don’t think Mama and Papa talked about me,” he mumbled out, his voice, however gruff it may have been, still another clear indicator that he was just a kit. He probably wasn’t used to his name yet.
“Then we shall call you Giantkit until you become an apprentice,” Holysnow decided for the kit, before walking off to tell the leader.
“‘Giantkit’? ‘Apprentice’? What does that mean?” the silver tabby asked the other kits, crouching to get closer.
“Oh! I know I know! Most of us are named after what we look like! Like Muddykit and Lavnderkit, and me! Goldenkit! But soon we’re gonna be Muddypaw, Lavenderpaw and Goldenpaw, and you’re gonna be Giantpaw!” a yellow kit announced enthusiastically, bounding around as she motioned to her friends.
“Why are our names gonna change?” Giantkit asked, a bit confused, before a kit with a mottled brown pelt stepped in front of him.
“Because we’re gonna turn into apprentices! We’re gonna get to leave camp and hunt for the Clan, and fight off all the badgers and foxes!” he said, seemingly excited for the new title.
“Yeah, our moms said that when our kit fluff is gone and we grow into our paws, we’re gonna become apprentices! We’re all really close, and so are you, so you’re gonna become an apprentice with us!” exclaimed another kit, silver that looked almost purple.
“Ugh, do we have to become apprentices with him?” he heard a sudden, much snarkier mew behind him, and turned to see an oddly thin, lanky kit leave the den.
“Don’t be so rude, Stickkit, he’s new!” Goldenkit defended, running up to stand nose-to-nose with the other kit.
“But he doesn’t know anything about Clan life! That’s the point!”
“We barely know anything either, mouse brain, why do you think we become apprentices before we become warriors?!” Muddykit pointed out, standing beside Goldenkit.
Stickkit looked around for a moment before spotting another kit attempting to leave the den.
“C’mon, Ratkit, back me up!” he asked the black kit, but the kit just looked at him, tilted his head and left the den without a word, heading towards the small pile of fresh-kill near a cluster of ferns. Stickkit growled to himself before pushing past the other two kits and trotting over to a den bush, slipping under it.
“What was that all about?” Giantkit asked as the two came back over to him, tilting his head.
“Stickkit doesn’t like new cats, he thinks everyone who’s not a Clan cat is stupid,” Goldenkit explained, shuffling her paws. “He’s mean, I don’t like him.”
“Don’t worry, Giantkit, I’m sure soon you’ll know just as much as we do!” Lavenderkit assured him.
“Yeah,” Muddykit agreed, “One day, we’re all gonna be great warriors!”
-
“And you did become great warriors! You’re the best hunter in the Clan, Muddyspots is the deputy, Goldenscruff is super fast and Giantstrike scares away all of the big, scary animals because he’s even bigger!!” Skullkit cheered, pattering his little white paws on the ground.
“That’s right, and Sticksnap learned that cats outside of the Clan aren’t stupid; they just live differently,” Lavenderclaw added, looking over at Sticksnap and Velvetfur, “Didn’t you?”
The lean brown cat rolled his eyes, leaning into his fluffy mate. “I suppose I did…”
“See, you two? Everything works out. Giantstrike became a great warrior, and Sticksnap learned a life lesson. A perfect story!”
“But wait, what about Ratkit? What happened to him?” Pumpkinkit asked, “We don’t have a warrior with ‘Rat’ in his name now!”
“That’s…” Lavenderclaw thought, before sighing.
“That’s a story for another time, Pumpkinkit…”

Moon 1 of SleepyClan's journey has been complete!
This moon was relatively uneventful, but our cats were busy nonetheless. (Close ups and specifics under cut!)
Tumblr media
Burrstar and Glintfur were on a border patrol when they encountered a small dog that had run from its twoleg. Glintfur, overly confident in her skills, tried to scare the dog off, but instead just made the dog think it was time to play. The two cats had to hide out the dog's excitement underneath a bush for the rest of the patrol, leading Burrstar to lecture Glintfur about cause and effect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ivyspark left the camp to stock up on cobwebs but came back far too messy, having found the majority of them in tunnel-like, hollow logs that he walked through in his search. All Icepelt initially saw when he returned was a crusty, burning, silver bush beast though and the poor she-cat was so startled that she had to be consoled by a now exasperated Ivyspark.
Tumblr media
Greenriver and Nectardash had a short training session, being the youngest warriors in the Clan, but it didn't go the best for Nectardash. He returned to camp embarrassed and fuming.
Tumblr media
A frustrated Nectardash proceeded to growl and rant the whole time he was at camp about how mouse-brained it was that the deputy had sent him to train anyways. Meanwhile said deputy, Eldermuzzle, listened and realized that Nectardash's eyes seemed to glisten when he was angry. Did his eyes always glitter like that?

Tallstar is Jake's boyfriend but also not. They both felt mutual attraction but they never took the next step so it's not official. They yearned but alas!
Tale I imagine has the similar markings to Tallstar but they're orange and white instead of being a tuxedo.
Tale is an adventurous little guy like his siblings and more interested in the clans than Rusty is if there were possible lol.
Rusty, Matilda, Filou, Tommy, and Luna are great older siblings to Tale and often play near the forest and in the fields.
Tale's favorite snack is Crickets!
The kingdoms have recipes they made.
One of the first things they did learn was that you can boil their kibble into water and soften it into a mush. They created stews and experimented with adding different things.
They recreated some human foods like desserts and bread.
They're evolving at a pace. A slow pace but considered the state they were at during Mapleshade's Vengeance timeline, they're a lot better than before lmao
What are some recipe ideas you have that cats would enjoy and make?
Ah, I see I see. I'd imagine the clans would not like it if one of their leaders was openly with a Kittypet. Man, imagining a scenario where TallStar ends up changing and he's like "Sorry babe but I don't yearn anymore lol I'm a true clan cat" and Jake's standing there cartoonishly clutching flowers trying not to cry.
Also I think that's neat with how Tale looks! I dunno why but I always thought orange and white looked the best with cats, especially if they're a very specific sort of orange. Reminds me of this stray cat who came by often and he was a really cool shade of orange with some white undersides, nick named him Creamsicle. I like Tale's older siblings being great like that and letting his adventuring nature run wild (with proper supervision of course), seems like Tale likes crickets because he found a cricket one time and didn't hesitate to crunch down on it.
Also gotta appreciate some good recipes that would be appealing to cats. Chop up some vegetables and boil in some bones and that's a perfect stew to sip on for when the days and nights start getting colder. The vitamins also help with cats who are sick, number 1 thing that you'd be recommended if you came down with a flu. I'd definitely imagine it took alot of trial and error to figure out what the cats can and can't eat when recreating human cuisines and desserts. They'd probably be shocked that humans don't drop dead from things that can easily kill an animal (Like mint).
I've mentioned them before but I got a few:
The crickets that are becoming a popular snack in Warriorclan/Present day Chelford
Dry cat food mixed with an egg or two, garnished with Rosemary. Simmered over medium heat
A buttery breakfast bun that is mildly sweet. Glazed with a thin layer of honey
Lots and lots of differing kinds of jerky. A nice, tough snack to chew on, helps keep your brain active too so that's a plus
Only ever accessible during winter season (Though there is also the option of stealing from freezers, but that's difficult 90% of the time), meat and fish ice pops for everybody!
For a delicious, crunchy or chewy starting dish: Dried, fried, or boiled bird's feet or rat/mouse tail. Twolegplace cats, like clan cats and outsider cats, value every single part of the prey item
Cooked bones that are cracked open so that the marrow inside can easily be slurped out
It's important to remember that the things that cats may enjoy, we as humans will see as gross. Cats in this case won't make the exact same food as we do, they'll most often than not have their own feline-twist to the dish that also falls in line with what they can and can't ingest. Though, that part's up to you if you want to have the Kittypet Kingdom cats evolve to grow stronger systems and become slightly more immune/unaffected to specific things that may make them fall ill

        Lucastar’s challenge
        By Amelia An
            Inspired by Erin Hunter
Chapter 1
The sun shone brightly over a meadow in the forest over ThunderClan territory. Two mewtwo kits- Lucakit and Dunklekit, were left in the cave by their friends while they were playing; not on purpose, a storm came, so bad the clan had to leave their dens. Lucakit and Dunklekit had no idea what was going on, so they stayed in the cave. Rain was dripping off the plants and tree leaves around the cave the kits were in.
“We’ve been in here for literally 5 some hours! I don’t even think I’ll make it out of this cave without a bite of food.” Dunklekit complained. “We could catch some by the RiverClan stream” Lucakit suggested. “We’re only 3 moons old-duh? We can’t catch anything-land or water.”
“We could try?”
“Fine! Go ahead and try! I’m staying in here till our mothers come back and I have food in my paws. So get on with it! Hunt!” Dunklekit yelled.
“Ok, I’ll go, no need to be so bossy Dunklekit.” Lucakit mewed back. Lucakit zoomed out of the cave, running down the wet muddy grass. “Remember you can’t fly yet, either!” Dunklekit laughed. “Same with you, Dunklekit!” Lucakit yelled back with a purr. Lucakit kept going down the meadow towards the river.
After a while, Lucakit thought he knew where he was going. But instead he was heading towards the thunderpath, not the river. All of a sudden he heard a noise up ahead. “Hello?” Lucakit mewed. He got closer to the thunderpath. At the edge of the thunderpath, he froze. Two ShadowClan Mewtwos were flying up ahead to him. “A trespasser! Seize him!” The green one called. The dark purple one flew down to Lucakit. “It’s a kit, 3 moons old I think.” The dark purple one said. “Attack him! He has no right here!” The green one called back. “He probably doesn’t even know what’s going on, I’m sure. Why attack him? He’s only a kit anyways, Forgefang.” The dark purple one yelled back. “We will not have mercy on anyone who goes on ShadowClan territory! A trespasser is a trespasser.” Forgefang yelled back at the dark purple one. Then he flew down to Lucakit, grabbed him by the braincord, and tossed him onto the thunderpath.  He landed with a thud onto the hard pavement. “Ah! Mommy help!” Lucakit staggered. Pain shot through his left arm like a needle prick.
“That’s against the warrior code!” The dark purple one exclaimed. “Go get him before he turns into fresh kill, mouse brain!” The dark purple one started to panic mid air. “No, Snoopclaw. It’s up to you to save that ball of fur now.” Forgefang replied. All of a sudden a loud, unnatural roar came from up ahead the thunderpath. “A monster!” Snoopclaw shuddered. “No time to talk, let me get him! Humans might notice us!” Snoopclaw jabbed. Before Snoopclaw could dive to the rescue, a pale colored Mewtwo shot like lightning out of its den and dashed through air to grab Lucakit off the thunderpath. “Wait Fadeheart! It’s too- Fadeheart looked next to Lucakit midair next to her. The monster’s paw was only a tail length away from Lucakit’s shaking with fear body. She grabbed Lucakit’s leg and tossed him in the grass, leaving her right in Lucakit’s spot before he got tossed to safety. The monster roared a loud call, then the Mewtwos heard a bump. The monster zoomed past, leaving Fadeheart’s body on the ground under its pawprint. Fadeheart lay lifeless on the thunderpath.
“Fadeheart!” Snoopclaw and Forgefang yelled. They both flew down to Fadeheart on the pavement. After a minute, they dragged her into the grass where Lucakit lay, horrified by all the events that just happened. “She’s alive! She just has a fractured leg. Go bring her to Leaftoe to make sure she’s ok.” Snoopclaw mewed. Forgefang lay a few fox lengths away from Lucakit, with anger filling up his green eyes. “You little dung rascal! It’s all your fault this happened.
Why didn’t you get up when I threw you onto the thunderpath? She wouldn’t have gotten up to save you, you helpless rat!” Forgefang screamed at Lucakit. Then he carefully picked up Fadeheart and carried her to Leaftoe’s den. Lucakit felt hurt by the words as he left. “Hey little kit, don’t listen to him. It’s not your fault, ok?” Snoopclaw said, trying to cheer him up. “I’m really sorry this happened. What’s your name? May I ask?” He wondered. “Yea, it’s Lucakit.” He replied morbidly. “I live in ThunderClan. Me and my friend Dunklekit were playing under a small cave, then all of a sudden a storm came up and made the whole clan leave. But we didn’t know what was going on, and we stayed in the cave for hours and nobody came still. Then Dunklekit got hungry so he asked me to hunt for him. So I wanted to catch a fish at the river to impress him, then I got lost and ended up here. I’m so sorry. Please forgive me.” He mewed. “Huh, that’s strange. We all got the storm too, but we never left our territory. I guess they were being extra careful, heh? But where did they go?” Snoopclaw asked. “I don’t know, they never said.” Lucakit reviled. “Oh well, anyways, how about you come to my den to rest? I’ll introduce you to the clan!” Snoopclaw mewed excitedly. “There’s Mewtwos of all kinds for you to see!”
Chapter 2
The Mewtwos entered the ShadowClan territory, and Lucakit started to get excited. “Wow! This place is really, stinky.” Lucakit told Snoopclaw. “I know, sorry bout’ that. We don’t really clean up around here.” Snoopclaw replied, laughing a little bit. “Who is this? Why is he in our territory?” A Mewtwo growled. “Calm down, everyone. He got lost, and he’s visiting my den to rest. Don’t be angry at him, he’s not here to attack.” Snoopclaw shouted to his clanmates. Faces turned, and eyes prowled at Lucakit and Snoopclaw. He started to become anxious. “Don’t worry, we’re here now. Come take a look in my home!” Snoopclaw mewed excitedly. They both flew in through a small hole in a cave. “This is my den. Me and Squirrelfire sometimes chill in this corner. By the way, Squirrelfire is my sister.” Snoopclaw exclaimed. Lucakit saw a soft pile of moss, and lay his body down on it. He felt as if he were on a cloud in the sky, and light as mouse fur. “Comfy, huh?” Snoopclaw bragged. “I made it myself.” Snoopclaw went on. “Well, I’m gonna go on a hunting patrol with my friends. Can you stay here and rest? I’ll bring you some fresh kill to eat.” Snoopclaw mewed. “Ok, thank you!” Lucakit mewed back. He watched Snoopclaw fly out of his house, wondering how Dunklekit was doing. “I hope he’s not too hungry.” Lucakit thought worriedly. “I promised I would bring him back some food.”
About 40 minutes later, Lucakit heard Snoopclaw calling him. Seconds later Snoopclaw zoomed it, with a burger. “I found this in a human garbage place. It smells like meat, and I thought we could share it.” Snoopclaw mewed happily. “Um, are you sure this is edible?” Lucakit asked. “Oh, of course it is! Humans eat it, and we’ve eaten these since ShadowClan began. They’re very delicious, please try some! It will bring your strength up.” Snoopclaw pleaded. Lucakit agreed, and bit a piece with his newly grown canines. It was the most yummy thing he had ever eaten in his 3 moon life. “Oh wow! It’s so good!” Lucakit exclaimed with a smile. He gulped down another piece, and they both spent the night happily eating and talking together in the den.
Morning light glowed brightly in the sky. Lucakit yawned, and looked up at Snoopclaw. He got up and looked over at Lucakit, with an uncertain expression. “Hey Lucakit, Blackstar wants to see you and ask you questions in about 10 minutes” Snoopclaw mewed quietly. Lucakit was shocked at the question. He would have to talk to the ShadowClan leader. “Make sure you’re ready. He may want you to leave, since this isn’t your clan.” Snoopclaw mewed. “He doesn’t like ThunderClan.” Lucakit heaved out of the moss bed and flew out of Snoopclaw’s den. Panicking, he asked a random Mewtwo where Blackstar’s own den was. “Um, it’s over to the left of that large tree.” The Mewtwo said to him. He quickly thanked her and flew off to the den. It was very dark. “Hello? I’m Lucakit, the one you asked to talk to. I’m a bit early, but can I still speak with you?” Lucakit murmured, shaking like an earthquake. “Yes. I’m here on the back of this wall.” A voice sounded. Still shaking, Lucakit flew over to the wall. He was then face to face with Blackstar. He was a tall, grey and black Mewtwo with a glowing yellow tail and a strange crystal on his right arm, the same color. Lucakit was amazed by his dazzling, dark appearance. “You’re so cool, Blackstar.” Lucakit mewed, less afraid by his warm welcoming. “Thank you I guess, now where are your parents?” Blackstar said boldly. Lucakit told him the whole story about leaving Dunklekit, the thunderpath, his clan leaving and all that. “Well, you know you could stay here if you’d like. I’m sure Dunklekit will find his way here too, it’s not that far.” Blackstar mewed. Lucakit was too stunned to think. “Um, um, yes Blackstar! That would be such an honor!” Lucakit exclaimed. It truly was an honor. “Well then, it is decided. Lucakit is a member of ShadowClan now.” Blackstar said with a grin. Lucastar liked this Mewtwo. He looked fierce and mean, but he had a heart of kindness.
Proud, he head out of the den to tell Snoopclaw the news. Mewtwos still stared at him, but they seemed more used to him than when he first arrived. “Hey Snoopclaw? Guess what?” Lucakit piped up while dashing into his den. “Blackstar said I can join ShadowClan!” Lucakit yelled happily. Snoopclaw got up out of his moss bed. “Oh wow! I’m so happy for you Lucakit!” Snoopclaw yelped. They both happily sat down on the gravel flooring to talk. “Blackstar looks so cool, too. Why does he look so different?” Lucakit piped up again. “Well, he was just made that way, if you guessed. I think you’re really cool too! Your light blue peach fuzz, blue tail and glowing aqua eyes, you’re just so handsome!” Snoopclaw mewed happily. They were just so cheerful in the moment, Lucakit didn’t even remember what was going on with Dunklekit. Later, he started to think of him again. “I really hope Dunklekit’s ok. I miss him.” Lucakit murmured before drifting to sleep. After a minute Lucakit began to dream that he was on the thunderpath. Dunklekit was next to him. Before he could say hi to his brother, a monster was roaring up ahead. With his instinct and fear, Lucakit flew off the thunderpath quickly without turning his head. “Dunklekit! Get off the thunderpath!” He yelled, just remembering his sibling was still in the danger zone. Before Dunklekit could even get up, the monster ran over him. The monster’s paw rolled right over him, this time crushing his whole body, and not just his leg like Fadeheart’s moment with that other monster. The same horror shot through Lucakit like before. He saw some sharp glass fling in the air as the monster zoomed past, hitting Dunklekit in the head. Lucakit didn’t see where it hit him cause he was facing the other way. Dunklekit turned, with his paw over his left eye. Blood streamed down his finger over the eye he was covering. His face had the most pure anger that Lucakit had ever seen in his life. “Look, Lucakit. You don’t care anything about me at all. Why did you leave me to die? You care only for yourself and your own pleasure. I’m gonna have revenge on you, Lucakit. And you’ll remember it.” Dunklekit growled, and then everything turned black. Lucakit woke up with a shock from the traumatic dream. Then he looked over at Snoopclaw, floating a few fox lengths away from him. “Wake up, Lucakit! It’s your first day as a member to ShadowClan!” Snoopclaw mewed excitedly.
Chapter 3
Lucakit got up and flopped onto the ground from exhaustion. “I’ll carry you!” Snoopclaw mewed. He picked up Lucakit and flew out of the den. After about 3 minutes, Lucakit was introduced to all the others. “I heard your new to ShadowClan. Nice to meet you.” Rollpang yelled to Lucakit. “Thank you!” Lucakit replied. Snoopclaw guided Lucakit to the end of ShadowClan territory. “This is the- “Hey! We got news.” Another Mewtwo called to Snoopclaw. “ThunderClan has returned, but two kits are missing.” “Which ones?” Snoopclaw asked. “Lucakit who we know is here, and Dunklekit”
“What?” Lucakit exclaimed. “Dunklekit’s my brother! They all stood in silence. “Really?” The Mewtwo asked Lucakit. “It’s true. He told me the first day he came here.” Snoopclaw replied. “Oh no, I’m so sorry! I hope he’s ok.” The Mewtwo mewed to Lucakit. Lucakit started to get worried again for his sibling. “How about we go in the forest to look for him?” Snoopclaw asked Lucakit, as the other Mewtwo flew away. Lucakit remembered his dream again. The monster running over Dunklekit, him saying he’ll have revenge while he was all bloody on the thunderpath. “Sorry, no no no. Please.” He mumbled to Snoopclaw, panicking a little bit. “How come?” Snoopclaw questioned. “Please, just trust me.” Lucakit staggered. “Um, ok?” Snoopclaw snorted back. The Mewtwos flew silent back to Snoopclaw’s den. “Hey! We have trouble!” They heard Leaftoe call from her den. They raced out of the den to see others emerging too. “I saw ThunderClan Mewtwos spying on us behind Blackstar’s den.” Leaftoe went on. “They’re planning an attack!” Mewtwos stared in horror as Leaftoe said those words. Lucakit was worried too. “How come?” Lucakit yelled to Leaftoe. “Cause of you.”
Mewtwos stared at Lucakit. He felt flustering embarrassment go through his body, as Ducepaw piped up. “I saw it too. They told each- other that we stole Lucakit while they were gone, and they’re gonna fight to take him back. They say whoever took him into ShadowClan will get a death sentence by their leader, Heatherstar.”
Lucakit stared at him with anixiety. Snoopclaw looked very aggressive. “Well, we’re not letting them have him. It’s not his fault they left him there with Dunklekit. They should have taken him and his brother with them. Besides, Lucakit WANTS to be here. I’ll fight for him if I have to. Who’s with me?” He yelled. 5/6ths of the clan agreed, including Blackstar. Lucakit was stunned of having so much mercy by the most feared clan of all. Snoopclaw finished. “Let’s all prepare for attack! Follow Blackstar’s orders!”
Mewtwos yowled loudly in war cry.  Lucakit got excited, it was his first battle! “I’ll join some warriors Shadesong picks out. Can you stay in my den?” Snoopclaw mewed. Lucakit didn’t want to be lazy inside a den. He wanted to fight. “Sorry, Snoopclaw. I want to fight to show I want to stay here, and I’m not a prisoner.” Lucakit vowed. Snoopclaw new he was a kit, but he was the main source of the war. Snoopclaw nodded in agreement. “I want Armkill, Snoopclaw, and Waterpine to be our fighting force. If we need more, we will choose to more warriors or experienced apprentices.” Shadesong called to everyone. “This will be an easy battle.” She fazed. All the Mewtwos gathered where they were told to and lined up. Lucakit watched Snoopclaw fly to the other warriors, and Lucakit hid behind a bush around the exit to join them when they leave. After 2 minutes of preparation, they dashed away like lightning. Lucakit snuck out and followed. In the air he heard birds chirping, and the sun was blazing above them. After a minute, they settled near the thunderpath to wait for ThunderClan to strike. Lucakit cringed at the sight of the thunderpath ahead of them, then all of a sudden he heard a yowling in the distance. It was ThunderClan. “We’re coming without justice! Nothing!” They yelled. Lucakit felt a chill up his body, but he forced himself to stay in one position through all of it. “私たちはもう平和ではありません!” One exclaimed. Lucakit didn’t know what he said. “They said they are no longer in peace. What did we do? Anyways we didn’t steal you, if you were the reason.” Snoopclaw told Lucakit while bracing for an attack. One of them attacked Waterpine, but they didn’t expect her to retaliate in a water type move. The ThunderClan warrior got blasted in the air, before hitting a tree and knocking it down. It crashed right onto the thunderpath, then the worst thing happened. A monster was coming, faster than normal. The mewtwos watched as the monster stopped its paws, but they slid on the water that Waterpine attacked with. It slipped and flipped around, but the ThunderClan mewtwo glowed its eyes and used a psychic move to stop the monster. He placed it down carefully on the other side of the thunderpath, and watched it run off. The mewtwos felt a relief as it left. But the relief didn’t last long, the fight was still undergo. After the mewtwo lifted the tree and threw it off the thunderpath, another one struck down and pinned Snoopclaw down on his back. Lucakit watched in horror as the mewtwo raked Snoopclaw’s purpleness down to the middle of his tail with psychoclaw. He saw blood stain from there to his tail down, as the mewtwo flipped him over and kicked him across the clearing. He rolled and landed face first on the grass and didn’t move. “Snoopclaw!” Lucakit screamed. Snoopclaw was his best friend. “Are you okay? He panicked. He flew over and saw the mewtwo that attacked Snoopclaw. His horror turned to anger. Without thinking of his size, he plunged at the mewtwo, biting him with his canines. He didn’t realize how hard he bit him till he saw blood come out of the bite marks. He then saw the mewtwo look at him, and he didn’t seem fazed at all. Until he made a small shriek and picked him up by the braincord, which made him go limp. “You traitor! I thought you were loyal to ThunderClan, not our enemies!” He yelled with anger. Lucakit blindly saw that he was creating a shadowball to blast at him. 3 hits of that could kill him, and no one was looking.
“Help me!” Lucakit shrieked for his life.
Waterpine and Armkill looked at him with fear. They dashed away and from the attackers ,and flew down to Lucakit. Armkill had especially strong arms, stronger than an average mewtwo. He got a superpunch attack ready, then punched with all his might right into the mewtwo holding him’s solar plexus. He grunted and flung far into the air, dropping Lucakit while Waterpine flew up to block an attack facing him. Armkill grabbed him and put him next to Snoopclaw while he got up and helped Waterpine. Lucakit couldn’t help feeling bad for his original clan’s mewtwo getting hit with such a terrible attack, but his mind swapped to Snoopclaw when he heard him breathe. “Are you feeling alright?” Lucakit exclaimed. “Yah, I’m fine. Are you ok?” Snoopclaw asked Lucakit. He nodded. “My tail and above hurts, but I’ll survive. Hey, It looks like we’re winning!” Snoopclaw perked up. Lucakit turned to see ThunderClan mewtwos fleeing in fear. “I’m gonna go back by myself. Please be okay.” Lucakit mewed to Snoopclaw. “I’ll be okay. Thanks. And please make sure you make it back safe as well.” He replied drowsily. Lucakit waved his tail and flew on to ShadowClan territory.
On the way, Lucakit heard something in the forest. When he looked, he couldn’t believe his eyes.
It was Dunklekit.
Chapter 4
Dunklekit!” Lucakit happily purred out loud. He flew through the bushes, popped out and hugged him, still covered in leaves. But Dunklekit shoved him away. Then without saying a word, he blew an attack a Lucakit. Lucakit tumbled backward and hurt his neck. “Ow! What was that for? It’s me, Lucakit!” He gasped while catching air from the blow. Dunklekit said nothing. Without warning, he hissed and flew deeper into the woods. Wait!” Lucakit yelled. He followed him. Then he remembered the dream again. “It’s just some stupid dream,” he thought. “Dunklekit’s probably in a bad mood or something.” he kept on going.
After a while, he saw Dunklekit go into a hole in the ground. Not thinking it through, Lucakit followed him down. “What are you doing here? Stop following me fox dung!” Dunklekit screeched at Lucakit. “At least he’s talking now,” Lucakit thought. “Why does his voice sound like he’s been talking for 10 hours straight?” Dunklekit all of a sudden got on for legs and started hissing again. He was acting so wild, Lucakit thought he was playing a joke. “Stop it, silly! I’ve finally found you! I’ll bring you some fresh kill.” He told him happily. But Dunklekit wasn’t changing. He just hissed more, and Lucakit could feel a chill up his back. He was alone in a cave with a strange acting mewtwo kid, his brother. “Um… I’m gonna go back now.” Lucakit staggered. Dunklekit had fire blazing, angry eyes. Lucakit couldn’t hold his internal anger anymore. “Okay. I’ve had enough. What is wrong with you, you little rabbid rabbit? You’re NOT acting like my brother, at all!” Lucakit prowled at Dunklekit. He didn’t move, then Dunklekit flew over to the end of the cave. He picked up a weird bone on the ground and started eating it while flying back to Lucakit. “Uh… are you okay?” Lucakit snorted. He thought Dunklekit was doing that to be funny again, but then he gobbled it up like it was ice cream. He looked at Lucakit with the blood from the bone he ate drooling out of his mouth. He looked like a horror, but in real life. He was smiling. That’s when Lucakit realized something was really wrong with him. He dashed out of the cave, not looking back. He needed to tell ThunderClan what was going on. About him wanting to stay in ShadowClan, and what was wrong with Dunklekit and that he had found him. He thought maybe the dream he had could have been a sign. “Oh arceus no…” he thought panicking. “Does my brother have rabies?”
Lucakit dashed out of the forest, heading for ThunderClan. He needed to tell his mother about Dunklekit. In under a span of 8 minutes, he made it to the ThunderClan border. “It definitely smells better than ShadowClan.” He thought, giggling silently. Then he saw his old den. His mother, Hillchime, was bathing in the sun on a moss blanket. He quickly but silently sprinted out of the bush he was hiding in and ran to his mother, not flying so less noticed him. “Mommy!” He exclaimed. Hillchime flinched and looked at him. “Oh my sweet Lucakit! You’re back!” She purred extremely loud. They both gave each other big hugs. “I was so worried, I was crying.” She went on. “When we left ThunderClan to home in the forest during the storm, I thought you and your brother came along with your friends. But y’all didn’t, and I panicked and looked for you guys. But I couldn’t find you or Dunklekit, and I was so sad. I weeped the whole way. But now you’re back, and I’m so happy! But, do you know where Dunklekit is?” She mewed, words tumbling out of her mouth. “Yah, I do. That’s why I came here to tell you about him.” Lucakit mewed back. “I also heard you’re staying in ShadowClan! How’s that? Is it fun? Do you have friends? How many? Are you- “Wait!” I’ll answer those later. Dunklekit’s acting very strange. He scowled.“ He’s so skinny, even his ribs are almost showing. He’s eating bloody bones, he attacked me when I found him, and he would hiss and he acted like he never knew me.” Lucakit shuddered. Hillchime looked horrified. “My poor baby!” She exclaimed. “I have to find him.” She mewed anxiously. “Okay, well I’ve gotta go back. My clanmates might be worried for me.” He softly mewed to Hillchime. She happily nodded, then flew right into the woods. Lucakit was happy to have such a great and loving mother.
When he entered the entrance to ShadowClan, he saw everyone who fought were back and being cared for. It gave him a wave of relief to see Snoopclaw up cleaning the retired warriors cave for them. His cuts were barely noticeable. “Hey Lucakit!” Snoopclaw yelled. “Fadeheart had her kit today!” He exclaimed. “You should go see her.” Lucakit just then remembered that Fadeheart was the mewtwo that had saved his life from the monster a few days ago. He hadn’t even thanked her yet, and he didn’t know that she had a kit with her the whole time she had saved him before. If she hadn’t of made it, two lives would have been taken instead of one. He felt very guilty, and flew off to her den. The baby kit was sucking on a wet piece of moss. “Fadeheart, I should have come to you sooner…” he staggered a bit from a tight throat, cause of his guilt. “ I owe you a bunch for saving my life. I must repay you with something extraordinary.” He mewed brightfully. The she-mewtwo glanced at him with a loving face. “No no… you’re okay. No need to repay! No one needs to. I just wanted to do my job of protecting us all, and my little one here.” She mewed while purring. “By the way, her name is Lifekit.” She mewed. “She brings my heart to life.” She purred happily. Lucakit thanked her and purred as well. “Thank you Jesus for everything and everyone!” He mewed happily. “We all love you!”
The rest of the night was great. Lucakit ate more burgers and fries, while they all played leaftoss. Lucakit started to feel guilty again looking at Fadeheart’s fractured leg, but he felt better seeing that it was healing.
1 moon passed. Things were going very well. They always had enough food, Lucakit got to play with Lifekit every day, and he got to explore more of the camp. He knew almost every single name of the ShadowClan mewtwos. “Wow. I love it here.” He mewed, proud for feeling strong that day. “I get to eat like 5 burgers every day with fries and donuts from the human garbage, and my brother lives as a savage in the forest, eating rats and bones.” He shivered at the thought of being related to such a kit.
Chapter 5
2 more moons passed. Lucakit learned how to glide, use shadow ball, and build a den.  Forgefang flew over while he was chewing on a rock from teething. “Hello! Do you need something?”Lucakit asked him cheerfully. Lucakit has just found out the day before that Forgefang was Lifekit’s father. She was 3 moons old now, and they had become very fond of each other. “Oh Lucakit, get ready for some exciting news!” He mewed. “You’re becoming an apprentice today, Orbkit too!” He exclaimed.
Lucakit smiled big and squealed happily. “Oh yah!” Lucakit snapped, super pleased. Within seconds, Lucakit heard Blackstar call from the highrock. “Let all Mewtwos old enough to catch their own prey gather around the highrock for a clan meeting.” He yelled. “Oh boy, it’s time!” Snoopclaw mewed, while heading towards Lucakit. “Would Lucakit and Orbkit please come up here?” He mewed with a glitter in his eye. Both kits tumbled and tripped up the highrock. Orbkit climbed up first, leaving Lucakit panting half way. “I give up, I’ll fly the rest of the way.” He breathed silently. After he got up and layed down on the scorching hot rock, he saw Blackstar floating an inch over ground, while Orbkit was picking at his toes full of grime. “Today I will appoint Orbkit as a new apprentice. His mentor will be Loudfern. Train him well, and I expect you to pass on your knowledge of fighting to him. Good luck, Orbkit, your new name will be Orbpaw.”
Everyone cheered, but Lucakit couldn’t get up from his tiredness, and being too hot to clap. Orbpaw looked like he couldn’t contain his happiness, and yowled loudly. He flew down from the highrock and went to see Loudfern. They both purred and touched foreheads. “Lucakit, thank you for being here. You are strong, loyal, and brave. Your new name will be Lucapaw, and your mentor is Snoopclaw.” Blackstar mewed to Lucapaw. “Snoopclaw!” Lucapaw purred. He stumbled and crashed down the highrock, landing in Snoopclaw’s arms with slices and cuts. “You’re the best mentor ever! I’m so glad Blackstar chose you.” Lucapaw piped up. “I’m glad too! I’ll train you like a prince.” Snoopclaw laughed back. They both had the best time until sunset.
Lucapaw watched the dawn patrol leave with Snoopclaw. He sneaked on with them, curious about where they went. They went to the thunderpath, hiding behind a bush. He saw them looking out, then one glowed its eyes and picked up a trash can from far off. They rummaged through the human garbage, picking up food and then flying back to ShadowClan. Lucapaw stayed around the trash can.
After like 4 minutes of searching through it, he couldn’t find anymore edible objects and flew on back. On the way he heard a scruffling behind a bush. “Hello? Is anyone there?” he stuttered with fear. Then all of a sudden, Dunklekit pounced out of the bush next to him. Lucapaw stared at him intently. Dunklekit looked back at him. “Well look who it is, Dunklekit. I’m now Lucapaw. A kit can’t beat an apprentice.” He mewed, still scared. Dunklekit growled back. “Well I’m not Dunklekit either. I’m Dunklepaw.” He hissed while crawling. “What do you mean, you little furball? You don’t have a mentor, or even a clan.” Lucapaw told him  sternly. “I don’t need one. I’m being mentored in the dark forest, by Bloomfeather.” He growled back to Lucapaw. “You can’t be…” Lucapaw replied shaking. “If you don’t believe me, then attack me and I’ll show you my strength.” Dunklepaw hissed abundantly. Lucapaw thought for a moment, then without warning Dunklepaw plunged at Lucapaw. “Owwaaah!” Lucapaw screamed. Dunklepaw was biting him on his tail. Blood started to rush out, and Lucapaw started to get really angry while in pain. He flipped upward and flung Dunklepaw off him. Then he used psycho cut, but missed Dunklepaw’s chest and cut his face. Lucapaw watched in horror as he saw the blade cut right through his left eye. “Gahhhhhh!” Dunklepaw shrieked in flustering pain. Lucapaw couldn’t watch anymore, and turned his head away. After a few seconds he turned his head and looked at Dunklepaw. His left eye was gone. All that was left was some scaring and blood, while Dunklepaw was panicking and feeling his face. “You ripped my eye out!” Dunklepaw screamed. Lucapaw flew away as fast as he could, and didn’t turn back. “I’m sorry…” he murmured in his head. “The dream WAS a message…”
After he escaped the forest, he flew to the edge of the ShadowClan border. He stared at his bloody tail, and didn’t know what to tell them.
“I’ll say that Dunklepaw was just really angry, and I fought back. But I won’t say what I did to his face.” He frittered. Then he went past the border. “Lucapaw! What’s wrong with you?” Lucapaw flinched. It was Snoopclaw. “Why are you bloody?” “Um um I fought Dunklepaw.” Lucapaw replied. “Why did you fight him? Dunklepaw? Why is that his name?”
“He’s being trained in the dark forest. That’s why his name is Dunklepaw, as well as my name adding in a paw. He’s crazy. I I…” Lucapaw stuttered. “What? Snoopclaw went on. Lucapaw knew he shouldn’t say what made Dunklepaw stop attacking to give him time to flee. “Never mind. He just scared me. I think y’all should stay away from him.” He shivered in a blank voice. “Um ok? Well let’s take care of your tail and paw.” Snoopclaw replied sternly. They both flew into Leaftoe’s den. “Hey, we got an injured apprentice here.” Snoopclaw mewed darkly. “Oh my Lucakit- I mean Lucapaw. You need my healing herbs this instant!” She exclaimed. Snoopclaw stared at him, then flew down and stood on a rock, watching. “This goes here… and this goes- “OWCH!” Lucapaw yelped. “It stings!” “I know I’m sorry, but just for a bit, Lucapaw.” She replied carefully. After a while, Lucapaw left the den with a weird leaf around his tail. “What does this do?” He pooted. “Well that keeps the cut safe from germs, and it helps heal it up quicker.” Snoopclaw mewed back cheerfully. Lucapaw decided he would go play with Lifekit right at that moment. He flew over to her play place. “Hi, Lifekit! He purred while floating to the sunny spot next to her den. “Hi Lucapaw- yuck! What’s that stinky smell? The whole clan could smell that!” She exclaimed. “Sorry, I pooted.” Lucapaw replied. The rest of the day they played until sundown. “Bye bye! I had a lot of fun.” Lifekit mewed to him. “Bye bye too!” He mewed back like a kit. As he tumbled home in the gold sunlight, he realized how really close to Lifekit he really was. “Why does she give me a different feeling than all the others?” He murred while floating into Snoopclaw’s den.
Chapter 6
“Your vibes are rancid… heheh.”
“BAHAHAHA!”
Lucapaw stared at the mewtwos chatting along the gravel. “I’m glad everything’s going well.” He mewed cheerfully while heading out of the den. Morninglight and a cool breeze flew across the clearing while he flew to Snoopclaw. “Hey bro!” He purred while flying to the brush he was laying in. “What’s up?” Snoopclaw replied.  “How come your laying in a brush?” Lucapaw asked. “Well, you’ll see if you come lay down. It feels just as good as laying in the moss chair!” Snoopclaw bragged. Lucapaw jumped onto a brush and sank into it. “Ahhhh…” he moaned while closing his eyes. It felt like sheep’s wool! “Look up at the sky! Try to make shapes with the clouds.” Snoopclaw purred. Lucapaw opened his eyes and looked at the sky. “That one looks like a duck… and that one looks like a big rock!” Lucapaw mewed cutely. “Maybe… cause that is a big rock! Get out of the brush, now!” Snoopclaw screamed. Lucapaw shrieked and flew out of the brush with Snoopclaw following. The huge rock crushed the brush they were laying on. “What in Arceus name?” Snoopclaw shouted. All of a sudden they jerked and saw Blackstar zoom up into the air. “Everyone listen! We’re under attack!” Blackstar yelled. “It’s from ThunderClan!”
“Why do they want to attack us? We just sorted out the problem last time!” One of the mewtwos yelled. “I know, right?” Leaftoe exclaimed back.
“All of our warriors, line up at the dens! Armkill, protect the babytwo den!” Blackstar ordered the warriors. They all rushed to their places. Lucapaw watched Snoopclaw line up next to Hoppelt, and Forgefang line up next to Fadeheart and Waterpine. “Get ready!” Blackstar ordered again. The mewtwos got prepared. Lucapaw saw ThunderClan soaring on air to their clan, while Defkit was waddling out of the babytwo den. No one was watching him. “Defkit stop!” Lucapaw yelled. But something horrible happened. Defkit started stumbling around the edge of the hill around the nursery, and then tripped on a rock. Lucapaw watched him flail, then fall off the cliff.
“No!!!!” Lucapaw screamed. He flew faster than he ever had before, then blew off the cliff after Defkit. Defkit was wailing and shaking every limb on its tiny body. “I almost got you…” Lucapaw veered. “Gotcha!” He grabbed a hold on Defkit. He stopped wailing as loud, and grabbed tightly around Lucapaw’s tummy. Lucapaw then scrambled on the edge of the cliff and hung onto a rock. It was big enough for Lucapaw to heave himself onto and slump on so he and Defkit could rest. “That… was so… crazy.” Lucapaw panted. Defkit still hung on tightly to him. “We got to get back up. Your mother Mellow must be really worried about you.” Lucapaw mewed, still out of breath. “You’re so cute.”
After about 3 minutes of resting, Lucapaw gathered enough strength to fly back up the mountain. “What?” He exclaimed. The whole clan was fighting. Even the retired warriors. “This needs to stop!” He yelled. Before finding his friends, he brought Defkit back to the nursery. “Hopefully he won’t come back out again.”
Lucapaw dashed out of the den, and flew over the highrock. He saw Blackstar fighting someone familiar. “Heatherstar!” Lucapaw exclaimed. Even the clan leader had come to fight. “This has to stop somehow!” He mewed angrily. But before he could get down, a grey and prickly mewtwo flew up to him and grabbed him by his foot. “Wah!” He yapped. He was thrown right off the highrock. “I can… get up!” He thought eagerly in the air. And so he did. After flipping right side up again, he looked for an opponent his size with the breeze blowing across his thighs. “There!” He whispered to himself. A common mewtwo, a little smaller than him was floating in the corner of a den. “That one’s small to be in a battle…” he thought. He didn’t care, and dashed off while making a shadow ball. As he flew right over it, the mewtwo flew away. “Scaredy cat!” He yelled. As he blew the attack, the mewtwo flew straight into it. While he was thinking how dumb that act was, it counter attacked the shadow ball. “That’s so smart- it blew him across the clearing before he could finish the sentence. Then the mewtwo flew away. “Now I’m the dumb one…” Lucapaw snickered to himself while he got up, aching from the hit. Then he saw Snoopclaw fighting a blue shadow mewtwo with a crystal on his back. “I’m coming to help you!” Lucapaw yelled. “Oh Lucapaw! I didn’t know where you went!” Snoopclaw mewed back, panting. Lucapaw flew over and shadow balled the enemy from behind. He acted like he had no damage done. “Why am I so weak?” Lucapaw exclaimed. “I don’t know, we’ll train you up after the battle is finished… Ack!” Snoopclaw screamed. He got cut by the claws from the shadow mewtwo. “No you don’t!” Lucapaw yelled at the enemy. Before he could pounce, he heard a horrific scream, then another. “No!!!!” A ShadowClan mewtwo shrieked.
“Banejay is dead!”
Everyone froze, including the ThunderClan warriors. The mewtwo yelled again. “Hillchime killed him!”
Lucapaw was speechless. “My MOTHER killed him?” Lucapaw screamed. Faces turned.
“Lucapaw! Everyone! It wasn’t on purpose! He was weak, and he attacked me, so I fought back.” Hillchime floated towards Lucapaw, shaking. “If only you’d believe…” she started to cry. Lucapaw was shaking too. He couldn’t hold it in anymore, and he flew to his mother and hugged her tightly. Tears ran down her face and onto Lucapaw’s ears. “Please forgive my mother… and can this battle end? Why can’t we just stop!” Lucapaw yelled to everyone. Surprisingly, everyone agreed. Lucapaw and Hillchime watched the ThunderClan mewtwos retreat. “Bye mom,” Lucapaw mewed. “I love you no matter what.” “You too, Lucakit.” She mewed back. “Actually, it’s LucaPAW now!” Lucapaw exclaimed. “Oh wow! Im so proud of you, Lucapaw!” Hillchime chuckled, cheering up. “Bye bye!” They both mewed to eachother. “Bye!” Snoopclaw also said. They both looked at each other while she flew off. “Wow, it’s already midday.” Snoopclaw said silently. “Yah… uhhh…” Lucapaw started to stutter. “Lucapaw?” Lucapaw fainted from heat stroke.

Book 7 Spoilers but consider: If potion!au somehow took place after book 7, MC would definitely be helping rescue Silver. He saved them in the dream world so I can’t imagine MC wouldn’t be at least a little loyal to him. Also they’ve experienced brainwashing courtesy of Jamil, I doubt they’d let anyone suffer under that, let alone someone they care for. With Silver kidnapped their friend, Malleus, and his guards are miserable.
And really, after book 7 no one would expect the magicless human to be helping the Briar Prince and the Dread General. MC can play the kidnapped by fae and treated terribly card thanks to Crowley and OB!Malleus, which may soften Andrei to them slightly. Who better to keep Silver away from his family than a poor child who suffered the same fate? This allows MC to befriend Silver. Meanwhile MC is reporting everything they see back to Diasomnia, and also trying to subtly jog Silver’s memory. If Andrei catches on it would look really bad for him to attack the kidnapped, defenseless friend of ‘his’ ward. In the meantime, poor Silver is confused about why a talking mouse is fretting over him in his dreams, and why that mouse FaceTimes his magicless friend through a mirror.
IDK. I just want MC to be able to thank Silver for protecting Grim and them from Malleus and his Lotus-Eater machine. I blame this brain rot on your delicious angst and that promotional line where Silver says he feels as though he has met the MC before.
TLDR: Silver is best boy so Prefect joins the save Silver team and uses their magiclessness to help him.
Thank you for listening to my ramblings, and have a great day!
(ok first things first, thank you so much for enjoying my little au??? so much so that you took the time to provide all of these wonderful thoughts and divergent possibilities??? i was so giddy when i saw this come in while i was on my work trip this week, i couldn't wait to answer it <3)
oh my goodness— i've never really considered a 'timeline' for when the potion!au would take place, but the way it would be even more heartbreaking after the events of chapter 7, ESPECIALLY with these hints that are being built up about silver's ancestors and their potential relation to lilia and malleus' own unhappy pasts??? could you imagine how raw it would feel to have silver be stolen away from them by the guards of his royal family, after he had sacrificed and suffered through so much just to bring the diasomnia family back together?? how fresh the memories of loss must be for malleus and lilia regarding the humans that they were fighting against in briar valley and the devastation and destruction they caused both to their land and to the royal family— now they must contend with the fact that silver is possibly descended from that same family, and they've all of a sudden emerged to whisk him away from the very fae that love him for who he is, not what he represents? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
but to your point about MC!!!! so you may notice that my fics don't really address the mc/yuu, and that's mainly because i really don't feel personally involved when i play the game, i'm mostly invested for the characters— but you bring up an excellent perspective that i've never considered! based on their journey together so far in ch7 and what we can expect to continue, i definitely think that yuu grows very close and extremely fond of silver, especially once they understand his relationship to the diasomnia clan and being part of how that plays out in real time over lilia's decision to leave their side. and i fully agree that they'd probably be one of the first to catch on to what's happened to silver, that something about him has been deliberately altered by an external force, because there's simply no way he'd abandon his family after all that he went through to protect them.
i love the idea of yuu using andrei's perception of the situation against him in order to regain silver's trust and confidence— it's beginning to play out so very similarly to how silver had to wake everyone up in the dreamworld, only this time, the tables have been drastically turned. and oh, how it hurts yuu to see him this way, to know how desperate and impassioned he was to save his father and sebek from such similar fates in malleus' dreamworld. they would certainly do anything and everything in their power to jog his memory, even trying their best to convince him to stop taking the potion that's suppressing his true memories from returning.
silver truly is Best Boy and he really does deserve a true friend in yuu after ch7 is over— who would have guessed that they would face such trials together, and bond as two humans out of place and time, struggling to realize their role in the world that they've found themselves in?
