i like when people give atsushi cat-like traits like purring or having sharper-than-average canines and i think we should take it a step further and just keep adding onto it. atsushi should chuff. he scratches on walls and his desk until there's obvious nail marks digging into the wood. he rubs against the others to mark them as his territory. there has to be a meeting held because he won't stop shedding and there's white hair everywhere so a good portion of the agency's budget goes into getting everyone lint rollers. he freaks people out at night because of his tapetum lucidum. and he does all of this subconsciously so if you tell him he does any of these things he'd be absolutely mortified

Brandon "Mouse" McHolland (for @highclasstrashposts, who did most of this worldbuilding, honestly)

In the summer of 1985, a basket was left in front of Firehouse 51. Inside, there was a baby, and a blanket, and a note pinned to the fleece. There was no explanation, no number to call, no indication that whoever had left him there would return.

There weren't many people to take care of him - between Herrmann's new marriage and Boden's crumbling one, the number of homes he could go to was slim. But it would be worse if he was put into the system, being passed from one foster home to another without any kind of stability. If they wanted to follow the single instruction left in the note, and take care of the child that was left in their care, he needed a good life, someone constant in it, a support system he could always rely on no matter where life took him.

So, even if Mouch was the one who took him in, gave him food and a roof, it really did take a village to raise a child. While his name legally became Brandon McHolland, he had an entire firehouse to call family. He had uncles and cousins, even if none of them were related to him by blood. He had as many people to go to for advice as he could imagine, and plenty of space to roam around the firehouse when he started walking and saying more than babbled syllables.

When he still had trouble repeating a few names he heard around the firehouse, with the ch coming out closer to sh, he got his own silly nickname that wasn't far off from his adopted father's. By the time his age reached double digits, he answered to Mouse more than he answered to Brandon, and he almost preferred it that way. Even if they weren't family biologically, having a name, no matter how silly, that could be easily mistaken for another felt important to him. It gave him a connection to the most important person in his life beyond the same address and last name.

"No one cares more about abandoned babies than me."

Little mouse au, Izuku has a nest in the vents and will go into the vents when people try to pet him. Also does Izuku get OFA? I think he would steal All Might's hair because he stole hair from all the pro Heroes and eats them (because he was given a serum that lets him absorb quirks without taking the quirk from the holder) and he doesn't want to tell his parents because he thinks it'll make them throw him away and he gets OFA.

Izuku's quirk is a little different than copying quirks! But yes, he has a vent nest and will run away if you pet him without asking. And sometimes if you ask and he's just not in the mood or he thinks you're a weirdo. He doesn't end up with OFA, but he does intern with All Might! All Might didn't have a say, Izuku was horrified to learn he was doing all his paperwork and sorting requests by hand. He was physically unable to not go - without setting up an auto response and automatic threat level classification for requests at the very least!!! It was killing him.

Weird side tangent, do you think fluffy mutant quirk wielders have to deal with weirdos trying to pet them all the time? I'd start biting to be honest.

i just finished up a massive project at work that took over my life for many months, and i am still so exhausted, but! life update!

we had to put both our sweet cats down in the span of two months and it really, really sucked. we weren’t planning on getting another cat, but then the parent of an acquaintance died unexpectedly and left a cat behind, so we’ve taken her in. this is mouse:

pictures do not do her justice; she is genuinely the largest roundest cat i have ever seen. she is utterly spherical. she is a basketball with legs. she is perfect. i am in love with her.

When I was 14 I had a pet mouse named Mikey and when I told people his name I always worried they would think I had tried to name him Mickey (as in Mickey Mouse) but misspelled it meanwhile his actual namesake was Mikey Way because I had a big-ass MCR poster on my wall at the time
