I did not know night time rainbows were a thing. I mean I’ve seen impressive rings around the moon but was not expecting arches… cause I am not science minded at all so a lot of fairly obvious things escape me.
Anyways… moonbows are cool.

Not the first person to come up with this idea, but yeah. I wanted to draw a sort of comic cover after seeing all the recently revealed ones, but I had some trouble coming up with ideas initially.

Second Hand Loves
A summer baby through and through
I have never much liked the cold
And how ever much you may claim otherwise
The painful pleasure of blueing fingers
Thawing around a soft curl of fragrant steam
Will never be worth the way it creeps into my bones
But I've this friend who would live her life
At subzero if she could
(Two in fact)
She also loves that
Very particular kind of gloomy sky
All dirty grey and low hanging moody brooding
Just sullen sulking that drains the world of colour
Which I mourned about today
(Maybe because I relate too much to that feeling
Of ever impending doom
Intangible and undefinable, yet inevitably there)
But still I smiled
As I answered her "How's the morning so far?"
With "Chills. It's cloudy here. Moody.
You would love it."
Which got me to thinking about the time
A friend who hates the snow in the way that
Only someone who has
Shovelled a lifetime of sidewalks could
Sent me a photo of a snow angel she made
Just because it's right at the top of my bucket list
(She apologised for the handprints and said
"Maybe next time you can help me stand up"
And my heart melted like that not quite love letter
Eventually did)
And then I was thinking about all the other moments
like these that I've shared
All those instances arching silver dipped and fleeting colour
Across a waterfall sky
And wondering if maybe these moonbow moments of
Second hand loves
Could forever cure the world of hatreds taint
Or if they are confined to the barest memory
That pierced your heart one time
Then disappeared into the dark
Never to be seen again
