Professional Changes
Français
Hello,
A change. A lot has happened since the last post. Lately, I follow an academic training in starting a business. I meet new entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations and we encourage ourselves in the development of our respective plans. I’m talking about all these changes in this post. Have a great time reading!
MusicScore: A Change (Would do you good) de Sheryl Crow!
Early morning
The people in a business startup situation are dynamic. There are many and diversified opportunities. The timing is important and requires managing several projects in a variety of fields. Priorities can change according to the evolution of the day and the customer’s request. It can be easy to feel discouraged and you must remember that we’re only human! So, organization is a key.
Putting all the odds on my side, I’m eating healthily and don’t drink alcohol, I’m physically active and I get to bed early. I stopped distractions, such as ending the cable TV service and removing all mobile game applications. I do less shopping and save the money for my business. I also cut the cafe and restaurant getaways. I do networking on social media and during professional outings. I dedicate my evenings and weekends on the evolution of the project, concentrating the work day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the execution of contracts and the search of clients.
Training
Hoping to increase the company’s revenues, I decided to take a startup training with the Montreal Association of Artists and Entrepreneurs (AARTEN). The course provides the management skills to create a business plan, including sales discourse, marketing strategies, market analysis, administrative policies and laws, financial projections, and more.
From private coaching to group classes, consulting AARTEN is a great way to find help in the launch of your business. Certificate of Professional Specialization (ASP 5264), allowing the eligibility for loans and scholarships.
AARTEN is in downtown Montreal. It was founded in 2016 by Mr. Yves Agouri, CEO and Director.
The service is personalized. The team studies each project and will make sure future owner makes the best decisions.
Aware of the latest trends, using technology and providing additional resources, the training requires work at home and is realistic to the Entrepreneurial sector!
So, to my experience in marketing and digital sales, I will add the knowledge of starting an enterprise. I will have an actualized business plan in hands to improve the development of my enterprise and the search for financing.
I say bravo to all the staff of AARTEN, and I salute my classmates.
In collaboration with EDE-Entrepreneurs, AARTEN presents a unique opportunity to acquire the skills to start your business. Source: http://www.aarten.org/.
Survey
My homework is to establish a survey on the use of digital tools, intended for entrepreneurs, freelancers, project and team supervisors and workers in communications, the media and the marketing. Duration of four minutes. Give your opinion and thank you.

New wheels
This fall, there was a design project beside the office. Intrigued and captivated, I couldn’t help but follow the installation of the new Caravan of Exeko. Their mission is to distribute books, notebooks and pencils to homeless and excluded people in the neighbourhoods.
Exeko
Founded in 2006, Exeko is an innovative social organization, based in Montreal. They use creativity (art and philosophy) for the social inclusion of people or in situations of or at risk of exclusion. Report (in French): https://youtu.be/0SP72tav7SU
As part of the IdAction project, the new Caravan, launched October 17, 2018, was created by the interior designer/industrialist Axel Cohen. Axel is responsible for several innovative ideas since 2012 in hotels, restaurants, homes and outdoor facilities.
Thank you for putting action in the neighbourhood and long life to all the participants of Exeko.
Please visit the site of Exeko and give to the fundraising.
Conclusion
With the early arrival of winter, here is a tip of the old lady 😉
However, wool toques, scarves and mittens are easy to maintain. If necessary, and with other wool garments only, wash in cold water manually, or in the machine at the delicate cycle, with a little soap, and spread for free air drying.
Now it’s understood that we should no longer see dishevelled toque in the neighbourhood, right!
Have a great day!

I’ve been working as a freelance photographer for over fifteen years, starting from humble beginnings to having a pretty thriving practice today with a team of photographers and videographers to help me better serve the growing and changing needs of my expanding clientele.
Despite major technological changes in photography putting a camera in everyone’s hands, event photography has only grown. While there are thousands of photographers around today, there is also a huge and consistently growing need for images that tell stories, communicate brand personality and help event managers reach their audiences.
In the past month alone I and my team have covered fashion shows, balls, multi-day conferences, trade shows, recruitment fairs, graduation ceremonies, business luncheons, unveiling ceremonies, gala events and parties, executive retreats and several fundraiser evenings.  It’s been an exhausting yet still exhilarating fall season and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon.
Here are some highlight images from this hectic fall season:
#gallery-0-5 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-5 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Taking a moment to pause and reflect, I think one of the keys to having a successful thriving freelance photography business is keeping the needs of your clients foremost in your mind at all times.
A “client” may be one person, or a team of people, all of whom you as the event or conference photographer are there to serve. The agenda may change, Schedules get moved around. You may need to deliver a quick set of select images in real-time, or show up an ungodly 6:45 am call time for a cold walk outdoors in sub-zero November weather because your clients needs you there. It’s all part of the job.
If I had to summarize the most important traits a successful freelance photographer (or any freelancer really) needs it would be, and only one really has to do with technical ability:
Adaptability: being prepared and ready to adapt to sometimes (often) very last minute needs and change requests from clients
Client first attitude: while it’s important to bring your experience to bear on events you are asked to cover (you should be the one choosing where group shots get taken, and paying attention to details that show up in an image that clients are too busy to think of), you are ultimately there to serve the client. If they need you to take a photo of every award recipient that gets up on stage, you do it.
Technical prowess: you need to know your gear and how to use it. Galas, conferences, meetings, trade shows – all take place in spaces where lighting is rarely natural. Understanding the best way to show off the room, the people and the space with the available light goes a long way towards delivering images your client will be thrilled to receive and happy to share.
Being easy to work with:  this seems like an obvious one, but remarkably, not every photographer seems to recognize where they stand in the pecking order. It’s great to be confident and proud of your work, but there is no place for divas or big egos when you are on a job. You do your work with a smile, or not at all in my opinion. No client needs to deal with you and ultimately everyone is replaceable so while getting the photos right is important, being someone people enjoy working with is even more important.
Getting the gig is of course the most important part of freelancing as a photographer, but once you have it, keeping it going relies more on your personality and how you interact with your client than anything else. Your work has to stand out, but in the end, clients may find you because of your portfolio, but they choose you because of your personality and how you work.
How to thrive as a freelance photographer I've been working as a freelance photographer for over fifteen years, starting from humble beginnings to having a pretty thriving practice today with a team of photographers and videographers to help me better serve the growing and changing needs of my expanding clientele.

No more room service
Ok this is my very first hockey fic of Mike Condon. Be nice. After reading an article on the NHL website and reading the quotes he gave is when it just tugged my heart. Well whatever I have left of it anyway. Plus MIKE CONDON DESERVES ALL THE LOVE!!! He’s a precious cinnamon roll.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
***********************************************
Word Count: 1,947
"I lived in three different hotels [in 2014-15]," Condon said. "I lived in the hotel when I was up and down between Wheeling and Hamilton. I'm just used to hotel life."
The Penguins claimed Condon from the Canadiens to be Marc-Andre Fleury's backup while Matt Murray is recovering from a broken hand. After falling to No.
3 on the Canadiens depth chart, Condon welcomed the opportunity.
He isn't married and doesn't have children, so moving a family wasn't a concern.
"I'm single as can be," Condon said. "I've been moving in and out of hotels for the past five years. No one's been able to stick with me. No one wants to stick around for the ride. I don't blame them either. It's a tough ride. It takes a toll."
Last season was an anomaly for Condon because he spent all of it with the Canadiens, who gave him the green light to get an apartment on Nov. 1.
"It was weird for me to have my own place, not sharing with roommates or anything like that," Condon said. "I'm not going to get too far ahead of myself, but one day, hopefully, I can get another one. A guy can dream, right?"
You remember the quote to all those years ago and finally looking to today on how everything came to be for Mike.
It was a year ago when you first moved to Ottawa and he recently got picked up by the Senators hockey team. You two met at a charity event the Sens team always had for whatever fundraiser.
You’re a freelance photographer and your friend who worked for the organization that the Sens are fundraising for. She has hired you to take photos throughout the event for the website.
You couldn’t refuse the job because it’s a paying job, free drinks throughout the night and most of all there were going to be hockey players.
Throughout the night you have been taking pictures. Asking the players and their significant others for pictures as well and they happily accepted with wide smiles. Some you noticed were beginning to get quite tipsy, which was completely hilarious and happy you agreed to take the job.
With one quick swing around to walk back to the office your friend has placed you in. You wanted to switch cameras along with getting a new SD card, the one in you camera is getting quite full and fast.
You bumped into someone who was tall, you felt toned muscles as your face met his chest and you fell backwards as your bottom hit the floor. Your camera took a bad fall as well, the lens cracked as you took a better look at it.
Everyone stops what they were doing, gaps throughout the building while the person you bumped into kneels beside you and your friend rushes to your side.
“Y/n are you ok? What happened? Oh no your camera” she says while helping you to your feet
Others ask if you were alright, you nodded as you smiled and looked to your friend.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t see you. Are you alright?” The man asks looking to you all worried he hurt you.
“I’m fine really. Thank you for asking. Only bad fall was my camera lens” you wave him off and look to your camera.
“I can replace that for you” your friend says while looking between you and the man
“No, please don’t bother. It’s a quick fix and I have extras. Don’t go through the trouble and spending a lot of money on a lens when I have a few at home” you tell her while walking slowly back to the office.
Your friend and the man who wasn’t bad looking. A ginger with adorable blue eyes. Such beautiful blue eyes that you can swim in them forever.
If he looked any deeper into your eyes, you’d allow him to look through your soul and let him have it.
“I’m Mike by the way. I feel bad for your fall and your lens breaking. Let me do something for you” he is basically pleading now.
He looked like a hurt puppy who played too rough and hurt the person he loved so much and trying to make things better by doing anything.
You knew who he was, you followed his playing career since he got signed by the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs are your most favourite team, second is the Sens. You are a third generation Habs fan and knew the rich history behind the team.
“Y/n. Since I’m not going to get rid of you that easily. You can take the rest of the pictures” you tell him as you wave him to follow you.
He followed while your friend remained where she was and continued doing her rounds.
Since then the both of you kept hanging out when he could. When the summer came is when the both of you got more acquainted and had fun.
While it lasted and it was the new hockey season all over again. You were worried he was going to get placed on waivers again and having another team pick him up.
That didn’t happen, the Sens offered Mike an extension on his contract and told him to find an apartment. Which he did and asked you to move in with him right away.
You didn’t want to be apart from him anymore and you graciously accepted. The both of you couldn’t be more happier.
“Hey what are you so deep into thought for?” Mike asks as he enters the office the both of you share
You exit out of the article quickly and making it look like you were working on editing pictures. You pulled up the software you always worked on and luckily a picture is still on there.
A picture you completely forgot to finish but got sidetracked by something else.
“I’m just debating if I should get a Leica Camera or not. Why I’m so deep into thought” you tell him while he sits in the chair that’s in front of the desk and where you are sitting.
“Wow, why don’t you just get it? Plus I think it’s time for you to upgrade anyway. You take amazing pictures and you deserve the very best to work with” Mike says while leaning in closer and in hopes he’s changed your mind and purchase the damn camera.
“You are so sweet you know. Too sweet for me. It makes me puke” you say while you look to him and back to the computer screen
“And you are disgustingly charming” he retorts as he gets up from the chair and walks out of the office
“Wait, I was looking at an old article you were in a few years ago” you finally tell him before he is an ear shot away.
He stops at the doorway and turns around slowly. He leans against the doorframe as he crosses his arms across his chest.
“Which article?” He asks keeping his gaze on you
“The one about constantly living in hotels and how you mentioned no one has ever stuck around because it takes a toll and you as single as can be” you recite the quotes he said a few years ago.
By reciting the very quote causes you such grief because the thought of him being lonely like that is hurtful.
After getting to know Mike, you didn’t like the idea of him being lonely or didn’t like the thought of anything so enduring such as loneliness. You loved Mike way too much for him to go through that. Loved him way too much.
“Ooh that interview. Why would you be deep into that thought?” He asks as he enters back into the office and this time he gets the chair and places it right in front of you.
“Because the very thought of you being incredibly lonely, in between towns/cities, in and out of hotels. It hurts me to even think of the things that you were going through. I mean your mental well being and so forth” you exhale while placing your hands over his and look to him
As you tell him that is when he forms a smile on his face.
“I appreciate you for that. I really do” he replies as he kisses the top of your hand
“It was lonely, especially at night and no one to ask how my day was in general and just talking about it. But I knew what I got myself into and I knew I needed to focus on going into pro hockey. I thought of it more as no distractions to keep me from getting the one thing I really wanted and that got me more motivated to get to where i am” he continues while talking about his journey into the NHL.
You loved how he talked about the hard work he has put into getting that contract. Loved how he talked about the trial and tribulations he endured just to get to where he is at today. Oh you loved this man right in front of you, you loved how he is so devoted to his career, devoted to his family and how much he has devoted himself to you.
“I love how you talk about your trials into getting a pro NHL contract and love how you stuck on being focused on that” you tell him as you get up from your chair and sit in his lap.
You wrap your arms around his neck and begin to kiss him. The way your lips molded together couldn’t be anymore fitting and perfect. It was as if you two are meant for each other. Like what the stories were told in books, how they were brought together by scent or how they imprinted and so forth. It’s how you like to think about it.
“Mmm, what else do you love?” Mike asks as he pulls away from the kiss and looks deep into your eyes
There he goes soul searching once more with his beautiful big blue eyes. You definitely can swim and get lost in them forever.
“You. I love you” you reply while look deep into his eyes as well.
“I love you too. You know, after that interview and just a short couple years. I have found the most incredible, understanding, accepting, loving, beautiful, caring person. Who is willing to join me on whatever path this crazy career of mine will take me” he says with an adoring smile as he closes the gap between the both of you.
“Really? Who is that? I’d like to meet this person” you jokingly reply while he looks to you all surprised and begins to tickle you.
You laugh while trying to move away from his sudden movements as he reaches the ticklish spots you have.
In all seriousness Mike is happy he has found someone like you and at times he felt he didn’t deserve you because of how long he’s gone all the time.
He was happy enough to find you still at the apartment the both of you shared. He thought at times that you have left him because you couldn’t handle things anymore. But no.
You were always right there, patiently waiting for him to come home. You were waiting right there at the airport when he called for pick up. He loved how your face lit up every time he came home. He loved everything about you and didn’t want to lose you over anything. He loved you too much to endure loneliness again. Never again.
No more room service for him.

For the first part of afternoon session we had a look at Fashion Illustration and form. There are many different styles of Fashion Illustration, from collage, using inks to create forms, using images to draw into or on top of and the traditional fine liner illustrations.
Above are four images from the book Sketchbook, R.Bereton. From freelance Graphic designer, art director and textile designer Frederique Daubal. Born in France and now living in Paris after spending many years in Amsterdam and Montreal. On her use of sketchbooks for research she says. “My sketchbooks allow me to be free, to express myself without boundaries. In a way my sketchbooks are far removed from the reality, as everything can be included and quailty is not important.”
On the left photograph of herself, Frederique has used a simple collage effect, making use of blocking out sections in white and then using a biro pen to create a grid with lines and shapes. The use of overlaying different media is shown in the other photographs.
I like the way that Frederique utilises collage and graphics to overlay her images. The use of the grid in the Hugo Boss campaign appealed to me in particular, as I have been making the use of grids within my own samples. To represent the grids we see every single day, in an Urban environment. On buildings, fences, bins and the metal coverings for drains, vents, connection boxes and the list goes on.

important game
Leila ( @a-million-stories ) tagged me and I will do anything she commands me because I love her. The premise of the game is to list 5 things about yourself that on one would really know about you. Whoever wants to do this, feel free to participate.
1). I have the utmost respect for people who pursue creative careers. What I mean is that in this capitalistic, money-centered society, most people tend to gravitate towards jobs that will offer some safety net of fiscal security (probably to pay off student loans). That’s perfectly understandable, and I have absolutely no disrespect! However, I think people who endeavor to be freelance visual artists, photographers, writers, musicians, dancers, etc. are incredibly brave and beautiful to be pursuing such a deep passion. Does this make sense?
2). I cannot even fully translate into words how wonderful it is to travel. Last year, I was fortunate enough to go to Canada and France and both countries have had an immense impact on my life. Montreal, Quebec City, and Paris are all so very different from each other and offer a different form of charm. You know, you dream of these places from a young age (especially Paris) and you paint this picture in your head of what it will be like when you finally get the chance to go there and when you do it’s everything you thought it would be and more. The romanticized image in your head, combined with the experience, really leave an impression.
3). Museums make me happy, you take me to one and I’ll be your best friend. Most of the time, I force my friends to come with me (against their will or not). They’re just beautiful centers filled with history and knowledge and they make me happy...except for the Natural History Museum in NYC. Get the hell outta here.
4). I have far too many candles in my bedroom. The Fire Department would label me as a prime example of the opposite of fire safety. You name a scent, I have it.
5). I can’t write about myself. At all. I mean, coming up with five things for this was a challenge in itself. I’m not sure why this is a problem I have. Tips?

AIFF Announces 2020 Selection Committee
CELEBRATING A 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
AIFF is pleased to welcome three new judges that will join the Selection Committee for 2020. They are Belal Taheri of Iran, Sandip Pratihar of India, and Shahrzad Dadgar of Iran/Jacksonville, FL. With submissions growing beyond 2,000 films a year, there was a need to increase the Selection Committee that now totals sixteen members. We welcome the expertise of these judges and appreciate the local as well as international representation we have on the Committee. It is indeed a daunting task to view the numerous films and select those that will comprise the Film Festival. These judges are tasked with keeping the mission of the Festival at the fore of their decision-making process as well as evaluating for content and technical achievements. We thank those judges that have been with us since the inception of the Festival’s organization in 2010, to those that have joined along the way, and we look forward to working with new members of the team. Now meet the new judges!
