Passing along a tip from @monsterislandbuddies about these Super7 blind boxes: the Jet Jaguars weigh much less than the others. Of course, there's no way to tell whether you're getting the medic or the firefighter.

@monsterislandbuddies sent artist Matt Frank a package of Godzilla goodies and most of them are of the Godzilland kind! Who knows what lays inside the cardboard envelope that has remained unnopened since 1984?

Kaiju War Chronicles Committee #49 (feat. MONSTER ISLAND BUDDIES)
For this month, we're going to be doing something a wee bit different concerning guests. Don't worry, your regularly proper KWCC is still scheduled in about a week's time, so enjoy this little bonus, if you will! ;) And much thanks to @monsterislandbuddies for being a great sport! Really awesome dude to have on our nonsensical podcast! ;)

Rating mechagodzilla plushies
I’ll be combining two of my interests in this post! I have other ratings but something like this can be done pretty quickly and concisely!
As far as Godzilla franchise plushies go, there could definitely be some more utilization. Though there some past and current plushies who look…a little rough!
Tumblr media
This first guy here is nice and simple. Godzilla vs Kong has provided some pretty good plushage. Although I can’t vouch for texture or stuffing quality, could go either way.
Tumblr media
And on the opposite end of the spectrum, another Godzilla vs Kong. He’s been stretched out in a taffy puller and then out back together. Comes in two sizes, smaller one is pictured above.(big ver has better proportions) Quirky and lovable. 5/5
Tumblr media
A non gvk entry here, this fella’s from 2019. Hes simplified yes, but in a way that comes off as kind of shapeless. Compare to the other phunny Godzilla plush, it’s not much better. Unpleasant texture to boot. 2/5
Tumblr media
This guy, while very charming, is a bit of a mystery. I’ll tentatively nail him down as 1993 Bandai as his tag says. (Seems like his littler tag also says that) I can’t find many pictures of him and you can’t really find him right off the bat, but he’s a sweetheart. 5/5
Tumblr media
Another oldie, identified as Banpresto by monsterislandbuddies on Twitter, most likely hails from the year 1996. Cute and functional! I’m a fan of the swirly eyes! 4/5

I know its "not cool" to be so invested in a show of a dude playing with a bunch of kaiju toys, but I really loved that Gigan started out on the show with not having any friends and always switching sides to being someone who, over the years made a bunch of friends. Friends who were willing to travel to space and rescue him from his abusive family.
DUDE'S A FUCKING TOY 🤣😂
but god damn, I loved his character arc 🙌
Lastly, this show is too fucking good. Dude writes and films and edits by himself. Much props to him. Whatever your name is in real life, Monster Island Buddies. Good job man. You made this dude love Gigan way more than I thought I would 😅

Ebirah is freaking weird!
Tumblr media
The claws have their own neural pathway straight to the brain, bypassing the ventral nerve cord.
Appears to have an internal brooding pouch for fertilized eggs. So they may give live birth.
[oh yeah, Ebirah is apparently female according to this one book]
Mutant cardiopulmonary organs that allow it to extract oxygen from air and water in addition to the intake from the gills
@tyrantisterror
@monsterislandbuddies thanks for putting this online.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of @monsterislandbuddies, I have decided to make some art!
Back in 2013, when I would be slowly getting back into the Godzilla series, Monster Island Buddies was one of the things I was introduced to (aside from the NES Godzilla Creepypasta) that would rekindle my love for not just the Godzilla films, but for all things Kaiju!
I binged every episode and got to know almost every monster, all of which had great personalities and a lot of character! MIB really gave life into these action figures, and I'm glad they're branching out to other fun things outside of the main series! MIB has inspired me, and perhaps I'll make my own toy-centric dramatic comedy some day...
Never stop being awesome, Monster Island Buddies

What I hoped for in an animated Godzilla movie:
An anthology film that is a collaboration of multiple different animation studios and directors. Each segment showcasing different styles and animation techniques. Like one based on Godzilland, @monsterislandbuddies or inspired by the comics done by @ruubesz-draws. Everyone has their own spins and takes on Godzilla, it's time they should be showcased.

Twitter user tbiformula posted these screencaps from the 1993 Godzilland trivia show featuring none other than Oodako, the giant octopus!
Also the 1962 King Kong I guess...
@monsterislandbuddies asked the twitter user about their origin and they confirmed it’s from the 1993 trivia show.
For those that don’t know, it was a sort of mini “talk show” meant to promote the movie Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla around the time of release, wich had a bunch of little animations and pictures like these in between segments. There is only one episode online that I know of, and in it none other than Maguma the walrus makes an appearence!
Tumblr media
Also Mechanikong I guess...
There have been a bunch of fan interpretations of what the Toho Kong would look like in this style. It’s mind-blowing to actually have an answer.

On this day on November 3rd. Gojira come out in Japan and became something more that no one knew. Some of you, probably don’t know how I got into this franchise.  But let me make a bit more detailed. For most of my life I’ve been mostly a Disney movie child, with a love and passion for cartoons. Didn’t know any other types of media, till Middle School when I was first introduced to the world of Anime. But, it was junior year in high school, history class. I was doing research for an assignment project. It was about a certain thing that happen in the 1950s to this day. I choose movies. And when I got to the 50s, I found Gojira, yet I still had to do my assignment and more researching. As looked up kore movies, I kept finding more Godzilla movies. And, funny thing, I didn’t know Godzilla was a thing in Japan, nor did I knew his original name was Gojira. So, after I finished my assignment, I looked up more about Godzilla, mostly short reviews from the AngryVideoGameNerd himself on Cinemassacures Monster Madness Godzilla-thon. What sold me was, not only his design, but his symbolism of the bombings of Japan and how much of influence to other forms of media(namely for Power Rangers). Not to mention, You see the amount of work on, not just the suit, but the miniatures and the buildings.  Sooner or later I came across more Kaiju based youtubers, from Deadzilla to MonsterIslandBuddies. Even found very talented people on DA who does really good Kaiju art. Not to mention, I found a store that sold Godzilla movies, I picked Gojira and Godzilla Final Wars first(I picked those cause I thought they were the most interesting). And, yeah, some of know I do a lot of Fanart to certain Fanfic and how I got into it. As my collect grew, my art and love for this franchise grew as well, even expanded having me watch some of KingKong stuff, Mothra movies and of course Pacific Rim. And I’m so glad I made an account on here and got to meet other Kaiju fans. XD Let’s keep this franchise going y’all!
