becoming increasingly concerned/convinced that I’m destined (doomed?) to be (romantically) alone, not out of any particular desire to but because dating requires so much energy, and how does one do it safely in the era of covid and now mpv, and the world is on fire so shouldn’t I be focusing my energy on other things? but also the world being on fire makes me even more scared about facing it alone. I just want someone (or someones, I would be happy w a platonic community too) who I know will be there with me when things get hard, to put down roots and make plans with even though the future is so uncertain.
like logically I know that I’m not too old to find love and/or a partnership, I’m not saying this in a “well I’ve reached age X so no one will want me” way, honestly I think I’m a catch and I bring a lot to the table! but given the state of the world, the pandemic, where most of my friends are at in their lives, it does feel like I’ve either missed the boat, or am about to miss the boat when it comes to finding a serious relationship/life partner. but how does that urgency translate into action when I’ve only just got a handle on dating during covid and now there’s another virus to worry about? and trying not to burn out while still nurturing my friendships and many other activities? it’s not like I want to be alone, I want a community but don’t know how to find the people for whom that is also a priority, and then it all goes back to the question of meeting new people and nurturing relationships - how do I go out and make platonic connections that I can trust enough to face these scary times with either? how do I balance a desire for a romantic partnership with valuing my friendships as well? how do I live in a way that demonstrates my value of community, when circumstances have forced me to be so solitary?

HAH good luck#venting over I'm going to get back to cleaning my apartment now

Monkeypox is not a FUCKING STD and the fact that so many news outlets seem determined to paint it that way means that when kids go back to school. And they start getting fucking Monkeypox.
We’re going to see a fucking WAVE of accusations and violence against queer people, especially queer men and trans women, because this has been marketed as a disease that only affects “men who have sex with men”.
That isn’t true. Monkeypox is NOT an STD, it is spread through contact with the rash and possibly through respiratory droplets. It is not spread by sexual contact any more than like. COVID is spread by sexual contact.
The way this had been talked about is not only going to spawn a wave of queerphobic violence, it is DEEPLY irresponsible and will result in people not taking the proper precautions because “Oh, I’m not gay, only gay people get this.”

I'm actually infuriated by the fact that Monkeypox is being talked about like a queer men-only STI, when it is NOT an STI and it affects EVERYONE.
While it can be spread through sex, it can spread through other forms of touch such as: kissing, cuddling, hugging, hand holding, etc.
Monkeypox can also spread through respiratory droplets and through surfaces (i.e door handles, tables, groceries, clothing, fabrics, linen, sheets/bedding, etc.). well.i am convincing myself i have the stupid new disease of the year (monkeypox) and not bugbites even though i literally stay outside until the bugs are out and get bit to death by them and i don't get near people enough to resonably get it.
i cant even. look anything up about it because i am nervous ill get it in my head that i have it and then ill be completely unable to stop thinking about it 😎 im completely normal /sarc. so i dont know ANYTHING bout monkeypox but j am CONVINCED i have it. is it even real. im gaslighting myself what the fuck

So a random tweet got me going down the path to knew knowledge today - and it might even be useful!
The JYNNEOS vaccine for monkeypox has been approved for an alternative method of administration for certain people, in order to stretch the supply.
The authorized alternative regimen involves an intradermal (ID) route of administration with an injection volume of 0.1mL. This approach could increase the number of available JYNNEOS vaccine doses by up to five-fold.

If you get this type of vaccine, there needs to be a "blister" at the time of injection. It's actually called a "bleb" and that's so freaking cute sounding? (see how it works PDF, CW needles, injections, etc)
If you don't see it, BEFORE they put the bandaid on, say something. If they disregard your concern, talk to someone else until someone does. If it's not done properly, you won't get full protection.
It's mainly a concern because not all of the people administering these vaccines have sufficient training/practice in this specific method, since it's not as common.
I'll put the pics in the read-more, because CW needles etc., but if you are someone who might need the vaccine, you're going to want to know.
