S3 ep12
Ohhhh my gooooood that outfit.
Alex is trying so hard.
Why is Lena so good at destroying Edge. Lena could literally do anything and I would support her. Her laughter is just. And Kara catching the keys and Lena ahhhhh. Kara just looks so good. I really think she would throw him into the sun if Lena asked.
I’m sure Alex could make it painless… Sam. Honey. Take a break please. Good job Alex! Lollipop!
Kara doing her girlfriend duties!
James is so weird. He really needs to get his anger in check. Filming that must have been so funny tho.
She was so ready to risk it all. God I hate LaMes. Why the duck would they let her wake up in her office not like a medical setting. That’s so unrealistic, but like comic books ig.
Lillian can just fuck right off.
God Lena’s so good. She’s trying so hard not to laugh. I love powerful women.
She’s been a little broadsided by love and I AM SCREECHING!
Alex is so in love. Sam is so good. Or at least trying to be.
Ruby has so many queer aunts.
There’s no freaking way that Lena didn’t film this scene and immediately know all the queer people we’re going to die just a little bit.
“Don’t grab women, sweetheart.” I um i ha i hahahaha *heart eyes*
Coward. The CAPE IS FOR Aerodynamics!!!
That boob tape was hanging on for its life. Kara was sooo not subtle staring at Lena’s chest. That was strangely heartfelt.
Thaaaaat felt a little non platonic.
So from what I’ve been watching it’s obvious that Kara does love Mon El but I don’t think she’s in love with Mon El and yes that is an important difference

I’m done with Supergirl
I made it through the first six minutes of Homecoming and had to bail. It was just to painful to watch her fawn all over Space Frat Boy. The CW has done everything to the character and show I had feared CBS was going to do when the show premiered. CW took an amazing show with great characters and stories and shit all over it.
At least, Callisto Flockhart had the good sense to get the hell out before they drug Cat Grant down this shit hole. I’d pay to see Cat come back and knock some sense into Kara, while kicking Mon-El back into space.
The fact they are pushing this toxic relationship as something we should happy with is sick. How sad is it that Space Frat Boy was probably her first. Kara deserves so much better.
I’m not just upset over the toxic relationship, it’s the way Kara and the other core characters have been turned into poor copies of their original selves. The plots this season make no sense, it’s like they are being written by 13 year old boys with ADHD. There were so many great things they could have done with this season but they just shit it away.
It hurts to see this show crash and burn. I fell in love with these characters. It’s like losing old friends.
I’ll have season one, that I’ll always treasure, and the wonderful fan fiction. That will have to be enough. Good luck to those of you still clinging to the hope it will get better. If it does please let me know, but for now I’ve got better things to do with that hour of my life.
The fans I really feel sorry for are the little girls who fell in love with season one Supergirl. They have lost their hero.

The complete list of films featured in 2021′s “31 Days of Oscar” marathon
What follows is the exhaustive list of all 403 short- and feature-length films featured on this blog over the last thirty-one days for the 31 Days of Oscar marathon. This number is up from last year’s count of 327 and is the second-highest number of films I have ever featured in this marathon (behind the 410 films from 2016). Despite the number, this remains only a fraction of the nearly 5,000 films that have been nominated for Academy Awards. This year’s marathon was harder to plan than usual due to the fact it was presented in alphabetical order - with the exception of any write-ups I did.

Stay Strong, Alex (Part 2)
Part 1
Part 3
Tumblr media
The next day, (Y/n) runs into CatCo to find Kara.
"Kara. Hi," (Y/n) says, walking up to Kara.
"(Y/n)," Kara says in a monotone voice. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah, I was just looking for Alex. I was wondering if she checked in with you?"
"Didn't you crash at her place last night?" Kara asks and (Y/n) turns to meet Kara's emerald gaze.
"She said she was going to catch up with you but she never came back," (Y/n) replies, her eyes glimmering with worry. "What, did she not stay with you?"
"She never caught up with me," Kara says. "Maybe she went to the DEO."
"Kara, Winn said she didn't check in last night or report this morning," (Y/n) tells her girlfriend's sister.
"Huh . . ." Kara says softly and then her phone rings. "Ah. Mystery solved."
(Y/n) lets out a sigh of relief as Kara answers her phone, but her fear spikes again when Kara's eyes widen with horror.
Kara's phone dings and (Y/n) steps forward to look at the screen and sees a picture of an unconscious Alex lying on the floor.
Tumblr media
. . .
Alex lifts her head off the floor, dazed, her head pounding.
She gets to her feet, swaying uncertainly.
Alex glances up at the camera and her gaze flickers in and out.
"Hello," she calls and electricity buzzes all around her.
Alex breathes heavily and presses her hands the glass, trying to peer through the darkness.
"Hello," she calls again, stepping back into the middle of the stone cage.
Alex pounds against the glass and then looks back up to the camera. "I knew I recognized you from the elevator," she says, looking a little scared. "I know who you are. The people that I work with, they will find me."
Alex's heart aches when she thinks of (Y/n) - who was probably worried sick about her - and Kara, her beloved sister - who she had looked after for so long.
"And when they do, you will be in a world of hurt," Alex says, her tone growing more and more furious. "So, I am giving you one chance. Free me, now," the silence is starting to spook Alex a little. "When I get out of here, I will end you!" she yells finally.
She slams her hands against the glass again, trying to find a way out of her prison.
Tumblr media
. . .
Back at the DEO, there is a meeting going on, trying to find the person who took Alex.
"The person on the call who says they kidnapped Alex, what exactly did they say on the call?" J'oon asks.
"He said he would kill Alex if I didn't break Peter Thompson out of Albatross Bay," Kara says and (Y/n) looks down at the table she was sitting at, her eyes wide with shock and fear. "He said he knows Kara Danvers is Supergirl. He's targeting Alex because she's my sister."
"This might be stating the obvious here, but why don't we just spring Peter Thompson and bring Alex home?" Mon-El asks.
"The DEO does not negotiate with terrorists," J'oon tells the Daxomite.
"But this is Alex," Mon-El argues.
"If we do this once, we'll open the floodgates. Every bad guy will know Supergirl can be controlled."
"And even if we do what he wants," (Y/n) says softly. This was the first time she had spoke since she learned of Alex's disappearance. "It doesn't guarantee he'll release her. She's his insurance."
"All right, people, let's get to work!" J'oon says.
The meeting disperses and J'oon walks over to Winn. "Winn, any luck with Alex's subdermal tracker?
"No, it's been offline since 10:00 last night," Winn replies. "Whoever took her must have found some way to power it down."
Mon-El rests his hand on Kara's elbow as the Kryptonian begins to look more fearful.
"Where are we triangulating the signal from the phone calls?" J'oon asks.
As soon a Winn speaks, (Y/n) runs her hands through her disheveled hair and after a moment, rests her head in her hands, "We're nowhere. The caller used four different arrays to scramble the signal. You guys, listen," Winn continues, looking back at Alex's girlfriend and sister, "we gotta move."
"All right, let's start with what we do know," J'oon says, returning to the table. "If this guy knows your Supergirl, we use that to our advantage."
"That's gotta be a short list," Mon-El says quickly, turning to Kara. "Who knows your secret?"
"Jeremiah, Eliza, Clark, the DEO . . ." Kara pauses, as though thinking, " . . . Lillian Luthor."
"Does Peter Thompson have ties with CADUMS?" (Y/n) asks Winn.
"No, I already checked. There's nothing," Winn answers.
"Then you're asking the wrong question," (Y/n) says, her cop brain running on steroids at this point. "We don't know where Alex was taken, so we need to find out what Peter Thompson's connection with our kidnapper is."
. . .
(Y/n), Kara and J'oon walk into the prison.
"Mr. Thompson," J'oon flashes his FBI badge. "Hank Henshaw, FBI. This is Detective (L/n) from NCPD, and Ms. Danvers from CatCo Magazine."
"The feds, a pig, and a journo," Thompson says, looking between the three. "To what do I owe this confusing pleasure?" he asks.
(Y/n) - in cop mode now - throws a manilla folder on the table between Thompson and J'oon. "Your jacket's a thrilling read. Three home invasions, two DUIs, two counts of felony murder."
"You all didn't come down here just to flatter me, did you?" Thompson asks, meeting (Y/n)'s (E/c) eyes. (Y/n) takes a breath, "This morning, we got a call from an anonymous source, asking that you be released from prison."
"Someone wants me out of jail?" Thompson laughs. "Not used to that. People usually want to keep me behind bars."
"A life sentence can't be all that easy," J'oon says, "being in here all by yourself. You ever keep in contact with anyone on the outside?" he questions.
"Just last week," Thompson replies, "Mr. JC Penney sent me a letter. He said there was a sale on galoshes." Kara's eyes burn and she steps forward as Thompson continues. "It's just that I don't have anywhere to wear them."
Kara slams her fist onto the metal table, startling (Y/n) a little. "Enough!" she orders. "My sister's been kidnapped, and her life is on the line until we find out who wants you out of prison."
"Ms. Danvers . . ." J'oon says warningly.
"So save us the sarcasm! Who is it? Who has her?"
"Calm down," (Y/n) says, her voice equally as warning as J'oon's and she places a hand on Kara's arm.
"Who has my sister?" Kara yells, ignoring (Y/n) and J'oon.
"I don't know," Thompson says, meeting Kara's furious gaze.
"You're lying," Kara says angrily, her eyes narrowing.
"He's not," J'oon says. "We're done here."
The officer pulls Thompson to his feet and leads the fugitive out of the interrogation room.
"Why'd you let him go?" Kara asks J'oon.
"Because I read his mind," the Martian answers. "He's telling the truth." J'oon gets up from the table.
"Losing control is not gonna help us find Alex faster," (Y/n) tells the superhero. "It's only going to get her killed."
Kara stares at (Y/n) for a moment, and then her phone rings. "Winn," she says, sounding almost defeated.
. . .
Kara lands outside a house and busts down the door.
"Alex! Alex!" she yells as she runs through the house.
Sticking her head in one of the rooms, Kara sees a set of computer screens with Alex projected on them.
Tumblr media
"Alex. Alex!" Kara says softly, walking up the screens. "Alex!"
"She can't hear you, Kara," comes a voice and Kara turns around to see a blonde man standing in the doorway.
"Rick?" Kara asks in disbelief.
"Jeez, I haven't seen you since graduation," is Rick's reply. "You look great."
Kara's eyes blaze and she grabs Rick, lifting him off the ground.  "Where's my sister?" she demands.
"You break my father out of prison yet?" Rick asks, his teeth clenched.
"You know I can't do that," Kara murmurs.
"Can't or won't?" Rick questions.
Kara throws Rick back into a wall with a grunt.
"Tell me where she is," Kara growls.
That's not how this works," Rick answers. "Now, why don't you try and play nice, Kara?" he asks. "You were always the nice one."
Kara sighs, a hardened look on her face.
"Just let me talk to her," Kara breathes, looking over her shoulder at her sister on the monitors.
"Well, if that gets you to play ball, then I'm happy to help," Rick says, sliding around Kara to type on the keyboard.
The monitor chimes.
"Alex!" Kara croaks. "Alex!"
"Kara, is that you?" Alex calls. "Rick Malverne from Midvale, he kidnapped me!" Alex places her hand on the glass, facing the camera.
"I know," Kara replies. "I'm with him right now. Are you okay? Where are you?"
"My tracker. Can you use my tracker?" Alex asks, and Kara can hear the frantic tone of her sister's voice.
"It's not working. We don't know -" Rick cuts Kara off.
"Okay, that's enough of a reunion, I think," Rick says.
"No, wait," Kara says.
Rick sighs, "It's simple. She's told you she's okay. And now we trade my father for Alex."
"Your father is a murderer," Kara retorts.
"Manslaughter-er," Rick corrects.
"Tell me where she is," Kara demands again.
"Tick, tock. Tick, tock."
Kara's eyes burn red from her building heat-vision and Rick leans closer, "oh, wow, it's even cooler up close. You hurt me, you'll never find her. And she'll die. Slowly."

So there's a blanddcheadcanons post that says that "Kara is the mortal avatar of Rao" and I really don't like it, especially in the context of SG 3x04 (The Faithful). At best, as was pointed out to me by a friend with whom I discussed this post, the House of El is likely blessed and somewhat sponsored by Rao, which probably doesn't do much but produce Krypton's greatest heroes, given what the word "El" **means** in Kryptonian. I'm interested in your thoughts on this (pls post your answer).
I reject the headcannon solely because if it were true it would mean Coville was right and I fucking hate that bitch.
In all seriousness, though, this is an idea I've seen a lot and I'm not a huge fan of. I don't know much about Raoism beyond what appears in the show and that which can be inferred off of the show. One thing I would point out though is that El in Kryptonian (while obviously being intended to mean God by the original comic writers) can mean Sun or Stars, and since the Kryptonians in the show are, as far as I can tell, monotheistic, and worshipped only one particular star, the El family is not necessarily named God. It would, however, signify their enormous prestige on Krypton and contribute to the famous El pride (or rather, arrogance). I’m not sure it would necessarily have to mean anything more than that-- that the Els are a respected house who have produced a variety of successful politicians, civil servants, and scientists. And (this time reaching a little bit) that they are perhaps so old and respected that their house name was once a title.
There is a certain allure to the theory, for sure. Kara is a paragon character. She always, always does what she thinks is right, regardless of the cost, personal or global, and regardless of what other people might think of it. She has a very direct moral compass, and there are only a handful of times when she doesn’t follow it, all of which involve saving Lena. Ship who you want, but it is notable that Kara routinely prioritzes Lena’s life over that of others given the rarity of that happening otherwise. She never even considered breaking Rick Thompson’s father out of prison when he kidnapped Alex, and all he’d committed was bank robbery. Kara has lines she does not cross (though murder is clearly not one of them). She is a character that has seen some of the worst that sentient life is capable of, has seen more death and suffering than most people could imagine, and she came out of it with an all-encompassing desire to protect others. She lives to give people hope. Plus, the humor of having Kara-- the one person most offended by the idea of being an Avatar of Rao-- turn out to be an Avatar of Rao is great.
But, I would also say that having Kara want to do good because she is the avatar of a benevolent god is reductive and not particularly true to her character. It is true that helping and protecting people is a large part of the core of who Kara is. But there is a difference between altruism and the self-destructive, bordering of suicidal desperation to save absolutely everyone that Kara practices. And to anyone who doubts the suicidal bit, I direct you to the season 1 finale where Kara literally goes on a goodbye tour because she thinks if she goes out to fight Non she’ll die. She still goes because she has hope, but that hope is that she can at least save Earth with her life. She doesn’t fight because she is certain in the ultimate victory of good and justice. She does it because she more afraid to lose another family than she is to die. Kara doesn’t become Supergirl and risk her own life because she believes in good, she does it because she can’t stand to listen to people suffer-- because she has suffered. To use Alex’s words in 1x13 “You fight everyday to keep people from struggling like you have.” Notably also in 1x13, Kara wakes up from the Black Mercy and her first words are “Who did this to me?” and then she goes after Non in what could arguably be described as a homicidal rage-- a rage that is fueled entirely for personal reasons, not the greater good of Earth (though that comes as an added benefit), which is.... not very befitting the avatar of a benevolent god.
A major part of season 1 is Kara dealing with grief and rage. She nearly breaks a guy's arm in episode 6 because he screamed at her for damaging his car, to hell with the children he'd almost hit with it. In season 3's Midvale flashbacks we see her first put both hands through a lunch table, then attack Jake when she suspects him for Kenny's death. She gets better at controlling it as the seasons progress, but during Crisis she very nearly melts Lex. Also not particularly godly of her.
Then there is the fact that so much of who Kara is is shaped by fear: fear of the government, fear of humanity, fear of abandonment, and fear of herself. In her civilian life, Kara is, for the most part, unnoticeable. She's polite, soft-spoken, doesn't wear a lot of bold colors or styles, and is often a pushover. As shown by her encounter with Red Kryptonite, Kara would not dress or speak the same way to people without the pressure of hiding her identity (though much of her dialogue is purely the loss of her "don't be an asshole" filter, some of it is stuff she had every right to say before and just didn't). I have always found that episode to be very interesting purely for the fact that Kara doesn't actually seem to be seeking harm on others so much as seeking their attention. Her argument with Alex is almost entirely about how much she hates having to hide and pretend to be less than she is. Kara drops Cat off the balcony and then catches her. She attacks the police when they point weapons at her but doesn't kill or even hurt them that badly, instead of destroying the car they're using as shelter. Red-K removed her inhibitions, made her angrier, yes, but if her goal was to actually hurt people, she could have done so-- would have done so, and with great ease. She goes to a public bar and uses super strength to smash bottles by flicking peanuts. Why do that at a crowded bar? Why not just flick potato chips at the windows in her own apartment?
This is Kara at her absolute worst-- but does she seek out the DEO agents who shot her out of the sky? Does she go after Maxwell Lord or Non? No. She tries to make people pay attention to her. Her most shameful and hideous desire is for people to give her respect. (Admittedly, respect gained through fear, but still.). Kara's a nice person-- much, much nicer than average-- but a lot of that "nice" is just her avoiding conflict to avoid attention.
Kara is a good person. Kara inspires people. But that is because Kara gets up every day and chooses to be good and to inspire. It's one of the reasons I enjoy Non as a villain so much-- he and Astra are Kara's narrative foils. They also remember Krypton and grieve its loss. They also were trapped in the Phantom Zone. But where Kara had the Danvers to convince her that some good people existed and would risk themselves just to help others, Non and Astra had Alura sentencing them to eternal suffering rather than helping them save their planet (through the means they thought necessary) and then landed on Earth and found it headed on the same path as the planet they'd just lost. Kara had people to help her grieve. Non and Astra were surrounded by misery. They lost hope. Kara discovered it.
Kara is the Paragon of Hope because she has been hopeless. Because she has suffered so much, seen so much, and because she chooses to believe in a better future. She didn't have hope her first time in the Phantom Zone. She didn't even have hope for a while on earth. From what we can gather, Kara's choice to start actually believing in the future was a gradual shift that occurred sometime after Kenny's death and has lasted her ever since. For Kara, hope is learned. She chose to hope and she won't let it go, and to assign that incredible victory off to her being a God is an insult to her growth and to her character.
Now I personally thought “The Faithful” handled this concept very well. 3x04 is one of my favorite episodes of television in general, let alone in Supergirl. Season 3 is my second favorite season, and that says a lot for its good episodes when the bad of season 3 is so, so very bad (To say nothing of the episode to episode production value, we have the waste of Argo, Mon El’s return as obviously he’s grown he has a beard Mon El, and whatever the hell was going on with Kryptonian genetic engineering eclipse causing witches). To this day I don’t know why Kara had magic dreams. The show did nothing to explain it and I can’t imagine up a reason.
But “The Faithful” works because it highlights the whole paragon part of who Kara is. When you realize that every person in the room of Coville’s cult is a person she has personally saved-- that hits hard. Especially since only a fraction of the people she’s saved would ever set foot inside that building with the totally not-creepy, entirely wholesome way they deliver the invitations. (“Your daughter is special. She has been chosen. As have you.”) It works because it focuses on how the average human must view Kara, the ones who don’t see her argue with her sister over potstickers and crush her phone when she gets mad. It works because of how desperately hard Kara tries to be a human. It works because the writers know that we, the audience, do not see Kara as anything but a regular person with irregular abilities: a kind and remarkably devoted person, but not a god.

So my thoughts
1. They turned Alex into a disgusting jerk who had the fucking nerve to blame Kara for what happened to Esme. They completely screwed over Chyler with horrid writing. I’m willing to bet Chyler cringed when she read her lines. When Lena was willing to let millions of people be changed into phantoms just to save Kara, and Alex wouldn’t let her, because you know it was wrong to put millions of people’s lives above Kara’s. LMAO only to turn around act like a complete DICK WAD to Kara, and was willing to allow the world to get destroyed by Nxly, so that she could get a little girl that she’s known all of 3 weeks back. I don’t give 2 shits if she went back to being the old Alex, when she got Esme back. Her character to me will always be a complete ASS WIPE forever..............so yeah the POS writers ruined ALEX.
2. They have been RUINING Supergirl for years now. They made her this feeble women who constantly NEEDS saving by either Lena or Mon El. It’s disgusting and I’ve never seen SHOWRUNNERS AND WRITERS actively DESPISE their own lead character on the show. Supergirl once beat up Superman, and now she’s nothing but a shell of her former self, and I am thoroughly disgusted. I think it’s a good thing that she has put away the cape, because quite frankly just like she said she is the weakest person on the planet.
3. The writers, showrunners, and CW Executives CAN SUCK IT...............you are all horrible people for the over the top queerbaiting. Kara by the end of episode 20 must have called Lena her friend several times, and I took it as a big huge 2 middle fingers in Supercorps faces.
4. It’s good that they killed off Lillian she’s a complete menace, and would have caused more trouble in the future, and or tried to get Lex out of the PZ.
5. Everyone else gets their romantic happy ending except Kara and Lena. Even Jonn gets Mcgann back at some point........but poor ol Kara and Lena.
6. Did I mention how horrid the writing has been since season 2, and how they completely destroyed Supergirl for me?
7. At least Mon El and Kara didn’t go blissfully off into the future together and the Karamel shippers got ripped off too. The Supergirl show and the writers made sure that everyone got SHIT ON.
8. I’m glad Nia got Brainy back but so now the big brain will sometime in the future cease to exist? I can’t tell you just how stupid this shit is. They put brainy and Nia through hell for two episodes thinking that they had to part ways, only to turn around and have brainy give a big FUCK YOU to the big brain that will die sometime in the future along with every members of Brainy’s race???? Like why the hell did they even go there talk about stupid!!!!
Okay well that’s it and all I can say is that I am so glad this STUPID LAME SHOW IS DONE. I knew by the end of episode 14 that they weren’t going to put Supercorp as a romantic canon, and I stuck with that.....I feel vindicated that I was right, but still pissed over the gross horrid queerbaiting for years. Although I didn’t waste years on this show. I only started watching at the beginning of season 5, and I binged watched all the other seasons. Season 1 was truly the best Season, even if it didn’t have Lena in it. It’s been nice interacting with some people here I enjoyed it especially you @leighlew3. You seemed to be one of the only few people here with the voice of reason so thank you. Perhaps I will see some of you with future new ships we’ll see. As for me I am done with the CW for good. They screwed me over with CLEXA, and Supergirl. Those fucking losers will never do that to me again. I just hope many people here realize that giving the CW any publicity on Twitter with their shows is counter productive for the LGBT community. The CW doesn’t not deserve your support so please think twice about giving it to them.

I see a bunch of confusion over the fight Kara was describingto Zor-El. Here’s my take. It was a combination of bad editing, sloppy writing & a flubbed line. In the opening sequence when Kara’s eyes go white she is looking around and seeing all of her friends/loved ones dead. Normally, we would get an edit here of what she was seeing, but they just skipped over that. She says, “No, no, no, not again!” She is actually looking around as she speaks as if she is seeing bodies because the Phantoms are torturing her & making her see things over & over again. We aren’t being shown what she’s seeing & usually we would.
Zor-El mentions that Kara must be a mirage because the Phantoms have been torturing him to also see things that aren’t there.
Kara says, “This place is nothing like I remember. It’s worse.” That’s because she was safe in her pod the first time. Zor-El comes back with
“Indeed. From the safety of your pod, you never faced the Phantoms.”
Kara reacts by recoiling a bit thinking of the Phantoms. This made some think maybe they did get to her pod, but I do not think that is what the story intended. I think what they are actually trying to convey is that it IS worse because the Phantoms got to her THIS time. Zor-El’s dialogue in response to her reaction is,
“They got to you, didn’t they?” Now, that might make some think the Phantoms got to her in the pod, but clearly that is NOT what is being said because she responds with events that happened far after her pod time. He asks her, “What did you see.”
He is talking about what she saw before he reached her. We have no idea how long she was out there. Remember, it was supposed to be the finale when we left her trapped. A significant amount of time would’ve seemed to have passed if it had been the finale.
Her response goes along with what we saw her doing at the beginning of this episode.
“I was in a cavern, a fortress of one of my enemies. She was dead, but so was everyone I ever loved.”
It’s easy to see why many people thought she was talking about Reign, and she might be, because it is a memory, but a memory that the Phantoms took and expanded and made worse, not the actual memory as it happened in reality which is why she said, “Not again.”
She continues with, “Cut down, while they were trying to save the world, and I just stood there among their bodies...horrified.”
Now it sounds like Crisis. Most likely because the Phantoms combined the Reign memory and the Crisis memories into one terrible nightmare. If they had given use a visual in an edit, we’d have a better grasp, but no.
She continues with, “I couldn’t save them. I couldn’t wake up.” So we are supposed to understand it wasn’t real. She did save them in both instances. She then says, “I wanted to die there with them.” This is what makes me think she saw this more than once before Zor-El reached her. It was replaying. Each time she tried to save them & each time she failed. Part of her knew it wasn’t real, but another part kept buying into it because it was made up of things that have been real for her. Then she says, “But I couldn’t do that either.” Which is incredibly dark because it means she reached a point where she tried, but the Phantoms didn’t let her & instead started the mirage over.
All of this should have been shown. The torture, the hopelessness, the fear, the trauma, but in true CW fashion, we skipped the show for a tell.
Zor-El responds to her with, “A terrible vision.” She comes back with, “Not a vision. A memory. One that I thought had finally stopped haunting me.”
What I think they were trying to convey is that her memories of losing people, Alex in the plane, tank, VR, Lena multiple times, Mon-El in the pod, CRISIS, etc., etc. Those memories of (almost) losing people are still with her. She has mentioned on multiple occasions that losing the people she loves because of who she is, is her greatest fear. She’s dwelled on it. The Phantoms made it all real. And she thought she had moved past those traumatic events when in reality, they haunt her. Every moment. She just pushes them back & ignores them.
She then says, “But it was crystal clear. It felt like it would never end.” So this lets us know it WAS a mirage. It was the Phantoms. Not an event that has actually transpired.
She then mentions Fort Rozz. I saw some posts about this as well. Again, the writing here is a bit confusing, but I think we had a misread line as well. Kara says, “Mother once told me that Fort Rozz is rooted in space above the rocks by an anchor.” Now, I have hearing issues, so I use Closed Captions. The caption read “WAS rooted in space” which makes more sense with what she says after as well as the fact that we all know Fort Rozz broke free and crashed on Earth. Basically, Fort Rozz broke free FROM its anchor. The anchor is still there. Kara goes on to explain, “The guards come and go through a portal at the base. If we can find the anchor—“ Then Zor-El cuts her off. The anchor that was left behind after Fort Rozz broke free is still there as is the processing base and the portal the Kryptonian guards used to bring prisoners back and forth, to & from Fort Rozz.
I don’t know how they manage to convolute that scene so much, but they did and wow, these are professionals? Anyhoo, I hope I cleared that up for anyone that was confused.

Supergirl series final
Everyone got a happy ending and Densen got a big beautiful wedding that was just about them. A wedding that Thundergrace and Westallen were denied. It was so nice to see someone finally get that.
My thoughts as episodes aired:
Kelly looks so heartbroken while Alex is all rage😭😭😭
Alex and Kelly on same page of do anything for their daughter
Two ships are going go down in flames tonight and they are both as toxic as each other and I'm gonna laugh laugh laugh
They are breaking Esme's heart by making her think that her parents again and she losing being the love totem
Yes Andrea you are monster for doing whatever YOU THINK you have to do get what you want. You crossed the massive line and William was murdered for it. He died protecting you. You have no ethics.
William is someone Kara loves. That will make wackos angry even though she loved him as a friend not a love interest.
I'm so glad there is no "no killing Lex" talk. None of that bullshit.
Lillian laughing in Lex's face was good.
Esme is KILLING me "I'm drawing my mom's I want to remember them"😭😭😭
Alex is right 😭😭😭 Esme thinks those things
Everytime someone says "that's my kryptonite" all I think of Moldy Bread telling Kara that horrible kryptonite line for the dumb ship. So glad the ship is dust
Every scene with Nia and Brainy is making me more sad about their ending.
I don't care about Lillian Nyx or Lex drama. Drop this garbage.
Superheroes putting family before the world😱 Barry is told over and over just let Iris die. Would Barry be aloud to save his children like this?
Alex would do EVERYTHING to save esme that's a mother right there. I wish we had more time with mom Alex
Ha! Lex lost his girlfriend fast
Can Alex kill Lex painfully VERY soon pls. How dare he treat her daughter like that.
Omg Emse "They came" no one has ever showed up for before😭 and now she KNOWS her family will always come
So Kara is going have to quit being supergirl cause she fucked up with the sun thing?😒
Alex should have just shot that bastard in the back like he deserved before the fight started.
Esme being the smartest one there smashing the totem. Esme fighting for her family😭 she's so tiny and so brave. She found a family who will come for her. And she will fight for them😭 I love her so much.
What was the purpose for making Lex and Nyx's face turn into lizards?
Lillian jumping in front of blast for Lex😴
Love seeing the man Kelly helped being such a positive force for people inspiring Kara to think differently.
Kara inspired everyone to be believe themselves reminds me of s1 better angels.
Mon-Hell saving Kara😴
I hate Overgirl. Hate that they choose her to come back.
Love James and Kelly working together. Love the move of her jumping off his back.
I forgot the voice James used as Guardian😭
Did Winn do anything? I guess he shot the creature with the ship.
Did Eliza jump out with a shotgun😭
That was a meh ending to Lex and Nyx. Lex should be bones and dust.
Andrea you have no right to be at William's funeral. This is as bad at Caitlin/Frost hanging HR's funeral. She makes me sick.
Mon-El never coming back? 😆 One ship down and one more to go
Andrea selling CatCo was best thing she can do
Kara feel has nothing while everyone else is empowered cause it's the end of the series and the writers gave her NOTHING. They are setting it up that Kara can't have it all. She can't have the career, be the hero, have a love interest no she has to have one or nothing. BOO
aww the gift between James and Kelly🥰 I love my Olsen siblings
Brainy said fuck the future I have love
James is sitting beside Lena the SC must have their shotguns out pointed at him.
It's so nice to have a wedding where no is making eyes at someone else. Densen getting the attention they deserve for their happy ending.
Kelly is Alex's missing puzzle piece🧩
Lena touched James hand during Densen's vows I dread to think of the hate storm heading James's way from the batshit fandom🙄
Densen wedding was prefect. It was their moment and it wasn't made about anyone else. No was even making eyes at anyone else. It was full on celebrate THEM and their love and future. It's all I ever wanted🥰
Happy ending for J'onn and Megan too!
Why isn't James dancing with the group? With his sister and niece!
The writers just called Kara boring as if they didn't write her this way.
Ship number two shot down. "Friend" “of all the friends i’ve ever had” It's not queerbaiting it's been stated over and over.
If Brainy doesn't go back to join with the big brain does that mean Mon-El has a chance to come back? Blah I refuse his ass has is future and that's where his story is from now on. He's never coming back. We are free!
NOTHING FOR KARAMEL AND SUPERCORP🥳
Kara didn't give up being supergirl like I feared thank god!
Why couldn't WA and Thundergrace have a Densen like wedding😫 Especially Thundergrace who also had a wedding at the end of the series?
Future weddings better that a note out of Densen's book & looking at Wildmoore
What was Barry, Iris, Lois and Clark & his kids doing as the world was being sucked of hope, truth etc? I always feel weird about that
Deleted Scenes:
They deleted the only James/Esme scene? And it had such important scene with the gift and the 'I love you' and 'Uncle Jimmy'

Uuuh nuclear winter au?!?! 😱
FINALLY oh my god I thought this was going to be lost to the cobwebs of my drive. It really is too beautiful to be abandoned. It’s inspired by the comic panels that circulated a while back, where Kara and her adopted ward Lucy escape the nuclear wasteland of Earth in the pod she arrived in. Set several years in the future of an alternate S2, you can get an idea of what our girl(s) look like in this post here.
Anyway, here’s a snippet:
When Kara curls around Lucy, the pod is tight around them. Worse than that day on Krypton-- it presses on her shoulders, makes her ribs constrict against the claustrophobia.
She has a course plotted to a planet, the planet Mon-el had wanted to flee to, once upon a time. But she knows that they won't make it. The pod doesn't have the range, the power, or the life support to carry two beings that far.
Hopeless, she thinks.
But Lucy sleeps, and on Earth they'd faced certain death. Certain death to likely death was still an improvement. At least now they'd die peacefully in hibernation.
I'm sorry, Alex.
Kara falls asleep with her nose in Lucy's soft hair, and knows nothing more.
---
A jolt shakes Kara awake. Disoriented, she reaches for Lucy and finds the girl still curled in her arms, asleep. She doesn't fully regain her bearings until rough hands haul her out of the pod. She lashes out with a roar, one arm wrapped tight around Lucy while the other lashes out blindly. She connects with something that goes oof, before she falls to her knees and blinks up into the muzzle of a weapon.
"Remain on your knees, Kryptonian."
She obeys, wrapping her free arm around Lucy, still asleep. Thoughts of slavers, marauders, pirates flash across her blurry mind even as the world dims once more. Her last thought is a prayer she hasn’t condemned them both to a life worse than a death on Earth.
---
"The queen will see you now."
Days of rest have returned Kara's strength-- as much as she could have without Earth's yellow sun-- but she doesn't resist the implicit command to follow the guard. Lucy pads quietly along beside her, healthy but silent.
She hasn't spoken a word since waking up, and Kara has said little more. They make a tranquil pair as they wind through the palace halls towards the throne room. A fog fills Kara's mind still, blurring the details of the space around her. She counts bodies and weapons and turns, but absorbs nothing else.
Not until a gauzy curtain parts and they're thrust into an open throne room, lined with guards and noble spectators. Not until her eyes land on a pale, dark-haired figure sat upon the throne in a white gown.
A figure that stares at her with wide green eyes.
Recognition sparks to life the same moment the Queen surges to her feet.
Guards and nobles react in alarm: weapons are leveled at them, while the nobles draw back with nervous gasps.
But Lena doesn't break eye contact. In her eyes Kara sees a sudden hope flare and die in the space of a heartbeat. They stare, as the haze of the past decade lifts.
"Supergirl."
A lump catches in Kara's throat at the invocation of a name long dead. To cover it, lets her gaze slide to the guards, and only then does the queen seem to notice her people's readiness.
"Stand down," Lena commands. They obey instantly, and green eyes return to Kara. "Supergirl and her companion are guests of the crown. Please tend to them accordingly."
"Yes, your Majesty."
Lena turns back to Kara, bestowing a gentle smile that covers the moisture glistening in her eyes. "You've come a long way: you must be exhausted from your travel. You are welcome to stay as long as you wish."
Kara accepts the kindness with a minute nod. "Thank you."
Questions conflict in Lena's features, and Kara tightens her grip on Lucy's hand as though the little girl could protect her from the onslaught. But Lena only folds her hands and lifts her chin with that same soft smile. "Captain, please escort them to the royal guest suite. Please rest."
They are in the throne room less than three minutes by the time Kara paces after the guard captain. Only after the door closes behind them does she realize that the entire exchange had been in Kryptonian.

I'm sure the rest of PiaD will be just as amazing as what you have already written! And I'd have to agree with you on the writers doing Mon-El dirty, sometimes it really felt like he was their scapegoat for everything, even things other characters would have been praised for... I'm so happy Vell Or and Lind-rel got to die of old age (just like he promised her, too! *-*)! And the scraped Epilogue does sound funny xD How many kids did they have? And will we see any other reincarnations of them?
Aww, thanks! (*^_^*)
Yeah, I think the incident with Jeremiah was probably one of the most egregious examples. Mon-El being suspicious of Jeremiah was the sane, logical thing (The guy you thought was dead suddenly appeared out of nowhere and practically given to you gift-wrapped with a bow! You all SHOULD be suspicious!) but the show somehow managed to make him out to be the bad guy for it. And to top things off, no one said anything along the lines of "You were right, we should have been more careful" after the truth came out. He was frequently the convenient chew toy even when he didn't deserve it (that infamous S3 scene of Kara yelling at him under the effects of the psychic whammy comes to mind) and it pisses me off every time I think about it.
Haha, maybe I'll write that epilogue one day when I have the time to spare. They had five kids (although please don't ask me about the names because I didn't think that far, lol). You've actually 'seen' one of their reincarnations: Dax-Am and Eir Ni! Their story is on my to-write list, if you must know. XD I have thought about other possible reincarnation 'scenarios' but nothing as concrete/mapped out as that one.

I saw @ladylynse do this, and I kinda wanted to try this as well. I chronically struggle with beginnings of things, so this’ll be a nice self-reflection.
Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favourite opening line.
For the most part, I’m going to go down through the list in chronological order of when I first wrote it, from most recent to oldest, but I skipped one because it’s a drabble series so there is no “first chapter” or, well, beginning. I thought about skipping one of my WIPs that I posted prematurely, Beaten, We Rise Again, but I’m probably going to keep what I wrote more or less and then condense the plot when my sister and I get around to that Voltron AU series. I just generally take forever to get back to things even though they are still somewhat active in my brain. But I digress.
(Also, there are only 19, because I’m not going back to the land before time to grab my twentieth...)
1. The Recruitment Spiel is an Art But Destiny Took the Fun Out of It:  Kaeya used to be afraid of being summoned by the queen—especially individually.
2. The Eighth Tower:  Wendy ran through the forest, excitement in her step and a job flyer in her hand.
3. Return to Dust:  No god ever got to choose their domain.
4. Sparks in the Night:  “I’m sorry, Acting Grandmaster,” Wood dithered miserably.
5. Of Dragons and Fairies:  A black dragon flew over the lands of Alakitasia.
6. Fairy on my Heart:  Lucy Ashley strode towards the castle gates with a high head and straight shoulders.
7. I am Me:  “Prince Jellal.”
8. Everything (to me):  “Oi, kid, what’s a squirt like you doing out here? At a time like this?”
9. Beaten, We Rise Again:  Gabi liked to think that she had been a seeker of the truth (or, as other people liked to say, a conspiracy nut) since she was old enough to question things, but in truth, it happened three years ago.
10. Fireborn:  For a moment, Mon-El was sure he was going to die.
11. Sic semper tyrannis:  The two figures darted through the shadows, moving swiftly and silently.
12. Never Forgotten:  They were lost.
13. Mine:  The Black Lion had been alone for millennia.
14. If I told you what I was:  Just because Zarkon was dead, that didn’t mean that evil wasn’t still out there.
15. A Queen or a Mother, but Rarely Both:  The doctor had warned her that Oliver wouldn’t be the same man that she had lost, but Moira knew that already.
16. Finding Home:  There should have been celebration; there should have been cries of joy and triumph and a lavish feast, marking the fact that they did it and lived to tell the tale.
17. Mortal Instinct:  Animals have a finite concept of life and death.
18. United:  “She’s late.”
19. These Days Past:  Orion Pax looked up at the towering gray mech with a mix of anxiety and interest.
Patterns: Um, I hadn’t realized this before this exercise, but I tend to start with a generic ‘characters does descriptive action’ line. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, necessarily, but it’s a very ‘movie intro-shot’ type vibe, which sometimes translates well to text and sometimes doesn’t. That said, I pull the dialogue card a few times, and those are fun ‘jump into the scene’ scenarios. With a couple of exceptions, I keep the first sentence short. Simple, which I think tends to be eye-catching and easier for people to skim with, but sometimes too vague. I probably lean towards vague, but I've hit a tone in the first sentence before. Don’t know why I got out of that habit...
Favorite: I do like some of my dialogue beginnings. United still remains one of my favorites, when considered as a whole, with the way I start the first chapter (not necessarily the prologue, which I posted) but it must be taken as a group of lines. That said, I found, looking through this list, that my favorite is actually A Queen or a Mother, even though the one-shot as whole ranks low on my list of favorite things written; however, the first sentence manages to introduce and place the tone and subject of the entire fic neatly, while not being too forward. Beaten, We Rise Again and Return to Dust are close behind for similar reasons, though Return to Dust is more thematic, but it’s Zhongli’s POV, so the narrator-voice tone and broad, dramatic statement is fitting.
A takeaway would be that I try to ignore the first sentence and write whatever, but I should probably go back and give it a think or two because they are important, more or less.
I’mma tag @therosefrontier because I can :3

Tumblr media
Mon-El: There has to be a way to do this without making a moral compromise. We base the entire philosophy of the Legion on Supergirl. Have you considered that she might have the right approach here?
Mon-El: We took an oath when we formed the Legion. To preserve all that is good and to never harm the innocent. How's this mission in line with that? We should not kill Pestilence.
I was thinking about this, other than it being lovely that Mon-El defends Kara’s stance, out of all the character Mon-El is I think the one of the few who never advocates killing a worldkiller. (Mon-El preaching the gospel of Kara is also an interesting variation on the Coville cult who worship Supergirl but they worship her power rather than following her example) (it’s also interesting that Mon-El is one of the characters on the show, particularly from the action part of the show who we have never seen kill anybody, though he wanted to kill Rhea, but was dissuaded from it by Rhea herself)
Alex:
The conflicts on how to handle the Worldkillers correctly start in episode 13 when Alex and Kara debate on how to handle Julia/Purity. Alex never advocates killing her, but she does seem to advocate torturing her to extract information on Reign's location. She cites numbers and reasons that Kara's stance is naive. She does not believe that there is still a Julia person inside, she thinks Purity was just faking it.
She also claims this is just her doing her job (or doing her job effectively). (Something that Purity shoots down, saying that Alex is just lashing oecause of her own unhappiness and pain)
Alex: what I saw in that house was a very capable liar putting on an act [...] You told me about the vision you had. The world was burning. That is the Worldkiller that you saw. [...] Purity is evil. She is a Worldkiller. And there's two others out there just like her, endangering lives, [...] not all of us are bulletproof, Kara. [...]  cynicism, that's what's keeping the rest of us alive. [...] I am just trying to do my job.
Later she thanks Kara for changing her mind:
Alex: I didn't see that at first. You were the one who convinced me that the Worldkillers could even be saved.
My thoughts: Alex never goes as far as advocating actually killing the Worldkiller. I do think that it is noteworthy that at this point she does think the worldkillers are pure evil and have no humanity (or at least she is refusing to see it otherwise).
Imra:
Imra advocates killing Pestilence to save the future, even though there is another person inside of her (a person who happens to be quite mean, something they don't know at this point).
Imra: We came here to end the threat to our time. And that means ending her life in this time. [...] That's not how I usually operate, but these are extreme circumstances. [...] I didn't have a choice. [...] Look, I don't wanna kill her or anyone. I have the same ideals you do. [...] You think this is bad? The Blight is so much worse. Every hospital bed in every city on every planet is overrun. Mass graves... So if it's between her and the millions of people who die by the Blight in the future, I'm going to kill her.[...] I'm from the future. I've seen what happens if you're left to deal with the situation the way you want to. The Blight happens. Pestilence survives. Whatever you do in this time to try to stop her, fails. You fail. So if I get the chance, I will end this.
Brainy agrees with her. Citing the numbers.
Brainy: If we kill Pestilence when we find her, there is a 98.459% chance the Blight will never happen. Millions of people will be saved. Now, if we try to rescue the person inside of her in order to defeat her, that chance is reduced to 52.744%.
Mon-El: Some decisions can't be made with a math equation.
Imra of course eventually reveals that her motivation is saving her sister.
Imra: If I had just killed Pestilence, the Blight never would have happened. Preya would still be alive.
And Kara acknowledges that if she was in the same situation, she might act the same way.
Kara: I would probably do the same thing if Alex were gone.
My thoughts: I do not think that Kara is saying here that it's okay to kill somebody if they killed your sister, more that if Alex was gone she would be in such a bad frame of mind, she wouldn't be acting fairly and rationally anymore.
Other than that, I thought Imra’s arguments are rather nuanced, making imo for a rather compelling conflict of interest. I particularly like that Imra isn’t just playing the numbers game, she also points out that she has concrete reasons to doubt that other approaches will work.
Lena:
Lena advocates killing Reign even though there is Sam inside a person they know to be good, again citing the numbers, but she also argued that it is what Sam would have wanted.
Lena: I can still flood her system with the Kryptonite. It would work. She would OD, but... She would die. [...] It's Sam or the world. [...] [Sam would] choose Ruby over anything, even her own life. She'd want me to protect her daughter.
James agrees with her.
James: It's a difficult choice, but it sounds like you have the answer.
My thoughts: Yikes, talk about some really morbid topic for a couple to debate. It seems noteworthy to me that both Imra and Lena make a genuine attempt at going through with what they talk about. Imra when she shoots the syringe at Pestilence with her mind, Lena when she raises the Kryptonite level on Reign. Both are only held back by the fact that the poison they had wasn’t strong enough, not because of lack of trying.
Alura:
Alura is the one who advocates killing Reign in the finale, casting it as a sacrifice, a duty. This is after Reign and Sam have been split apart, so in theory there is only Reign left, a being of pure evil.
Alura:  Look, sometimes, the thing we thought we'd never do, the thing that goes against our very core, is the one thing that we must do.
J'onn agrees with her.
J'onn: If all else fails, and we have no other recourse, I agree. We do what we must.
And at last, reluctantly Kara decides to go along.
Tumblr media
Kara:  Okay. Whatever it takes.
Of course, only to regret it in the final confrontation.
Tumblr media
Kara: I came in here ready to kill her. I knew I should have found another way. I knew it. I've lost track of what I stand for.
And in the end, Mon-El congratulates her.
Mon-El:  you did it [...] this victory was yours. It was flawless.
As does Alura:
Alura:  I am so proud of you. You stuck to your ideals, and found a way when there was none.

Lena Luthor feelings for Supergirl made her get together with James
It was a painful thing but I could see again all season 3 including the Lames scenes and I can give a good review.
Even though the Lames was super forced and although 99% of the fandom felt disgusted ... in the Third season it fits into the narrative of our favorite girls and helped highlight the Supercorp dynamic ... I will explain why:
As you know the Third Season of Supergirl is where there was more tension between Lena and Supergirl, because this season Lena and Kara did not interact much there were so many problems of trust, misunderstandings and Lena felt very unfairly pressured.
In season 3 she went through a lot of stress and sadness especially with her friend Sam and the heroine Supergirl.
Remember at the beginning in 3x1 where Lena builds her a statue, with the events of Season 2 she thought she had a bond of trust with Supergirl and it is understandable, in those 4 chapters Lena had normal interactions with everyone... until she reached the chapter 3x5.
Tumblr media
When Lena was about to die, Supergirl appeared and rescued her ... the highlight is that this event made Lena very happy, because Supergirl chose to save her instead of saving the entire city ... it was something very important between them... then The first person Lena sees was James who, in spite of everything, is the one who is trusting her ... besides that Kara left her in the Sisterzone at that time.
Tumblr media
Then his most notable appearance was with James where he focuses his confidence on her in 3x9 where they just kissed, but more than that Lena does not take much attention, until we reach 3x12 where everything changes.
Tumblr media
In chapter 12 of that season I think one of the funniest interactions comes where she mentions her "dream" and as she deliberately puts herself in a state of denial that Kara is Supergirl (as Lex said) ... made me remember a little as Lois refused to accept that Clark was Superman
Tumblr media
Then comes the party to catch the villains where Mon El appears next to Supergirl and Lena's expression to that is incredible ... I must say that the narrative of the series always stands out as Lena is well aware of Supergirl
Tumblr media
Lena in 3x13-3x14-3x15 3x16 is dedicated to her friend Sam short scenes but of great emotional bond.
Tumblr media
The most remarkable of these chapters is that Lena is mentally exhausted, sad and is alone (the only one who appeared was James)
Tumblr media
Lena is human and in those moments Kara who is her best friend, had almost abandoned her and really had no one to hold on to ... just for that she appreciated James
Tumblr media
His "dynamic" was never about love or attraction, but that this was the one that was at least on her side unlike the others ... that's why in chapter 3x17 It was one of the toughest for Lena because Supergirl and everyone They were turning their backs on her because she had Kryptonite and what hurt her most was Supergirl rejection.
Tumblr media
Then Supergirl did not want Lena to accompany her, something that offended Lena a lot, but they both still fight ... but still the whole encounter with Sam where again Supergirl was willing to sacrifice herself for Lena, which made things better
Tumblr media
At least for that moment Supergirl confidence made Lena happy ... no matter if it was a minimal gesture, this made the two girls happy.
Tumblr media
Lena was happy after that talk with Supergirl ... until her encounter with James.
James tells her the truth about who is the guardian and honestly, her reaction was interesting because she really didn't care about James's secret, she was more interested in the fact that he had stolen her things ... but when she found out that Supergirl lied to her, really broke her heart
Tumblr media
After that, he comforts her and she spends the night with James (who honestly was more of a consolation than an act of love and the narrative makes it clear)
Then we have the 3x18-3x19 where she again has fights with Supergirl and is as evident as the two of them care a lot as the other perceives her (remembering the fear she had when thinking that Supergirl could hate her, I love that Lena defends her posture )
Tumblr media
Many mention that Supergirl was an idiot with Lena and they are very right ... but that was the point, that constant rejection caused a lot of effect on Lena
Tumblr media
The funny thing about all that is when Supergirl wants to make the passes...but Lena rejects her (where she almost makes Supergirl cry) is how Lena didn't realize that every Supergirl action towards her affects her a lot and because that she is very offended every time Supergirl distrusts her...she has very strange emotions towards Supergirl that she herself has not noticed.
Honestly it is not difficult to deduce that Lena felt more than friendship for Supergirl
Tumblr media
As you could understand dear fandom of Supergirl, Lena reason for being with James was mainly because of the damage that Supergirl did to her and the lack of support from her best friend Kara along with the stress and sadness of the situation ... all this it's understandable.
I will make a review of the dynamics of Lena and Supergirl in season 4 but I will tell you this:
While her bond between Lena and Supergirl-Kara increased ... her bond with James diminished to the point that their relationship (born not of love, but to console herself) was no longer necessary for her.
Tumblr media
I hope you liked the review ... until next time and remember (Supercorp is the best ship)

“You mean to tell me your mother took them… She planned all of this, just to get to you” Alex seethed, glaring at Lena, she was furious, you were like a sibling to her and if anything happened to you… She didn’t want to think about it “Yes… I didn’t know she would go this far, I’m so sorry” Lena said, looking at Alex and Kara, Kara currently pacing as she thought of what they could do “Do you know where she could’ve taken them?” Kara asked, looking at Lena and watching as she thought “I don’t… But I have some places that we could narrow it down to” Lena said, going over to her computer and pulling up what properties her mother owned that they could use to single one out.
You stared at Lillian with wide eyes “Let me go” you said, wincing when she tightened her grip on your jaw “Oh honey, you’ll be lucky to get out of here alive” she said, grinning a sadistic looking grin before she released you “What do you want from me?” You asked, not sure why you were here since you and Lena had broken up so there should be no reason for this “Lena will come as soon as she finds you missing, you’re leverage… She decides whether you live or die” Lillian said simply, going over to the door “Don’t get too comfy, you’re in for a long night” she said, giving you a smirk before she left the room.
“We need to call the cops” Alex said, looking over the images on the computer and pulling her phone out “Wait” Lena said, looking at Alex and grabbing her arm lightly “Not yet… Knowing my mother-“ She said until her phone started ringing “-will call me” she finished before grabbing her phone “Hello?” “Lena… You want your precious little thing back?” Lillian asked, the smirk evident in her tone “Don’t hurt them!” Lena said, gripping the back of her desk chair and trying to keep herself calm “Oh we won’t, but you have to come here… Alone” Lillian said, the sound of her heels clicking on the concrete evident “Where?” Lena said after a moment of silence, nodding as Lillian gave her the address “I’ll be there, just please… Don’t hurt them” she begged, fighting back tears when Lillian just laughed before hanging up “Where are they?” Kara asked, going over to Lena and touching her shoulder “I know where they are, but she wants me to come alone” Lena said, going to grab her things “You can’t-“ Alex said, trying to stop her “I can and I will, if anyone else comes Y/N dies… I can’t live with that if that happens” Lena said, staring them down before leaving her office.
When you woke up again once more, everything hurt and your vision was blurry, you took some deep breaths before trying to force yourself to sit up, only succeeding in making yourself feel more pain, crying out slightly before you dropped back to the floor; memories flooding back as you recalled what happened over the past few hours, beatings and torture devices, it was no wonder you were in pain and bleeding on the floor, flinching back when the door opened and closing your eyes “Baby” you heard Lena breathe out, feeling her touch your face and carefully lift it so she could see you “Lena?” You whispered, coughing some and watching her expression turn even more worried “She wasn’t supposed to hurt you” Lena whispered, gently running her thumb along your cheek and looking over your body which was already broken and bruised “She won’t touch you again, I promise” Lena said, looking at you before gently releasing your face and leaving the room.
“Alex, we aren’t supposed to be here!” Kara whispered, her and Alex having discretely followed Lena to the location “I don’t care” Alex whispered back, the two of them peeking through a window when they got to the building and seeing a few of Lillians goons there “We need to find where either Lena or Y/N is” Alex said, looking at Kara and crouch walking along the side of the building so they wouldn’t get caught “And what will we do if we find them? Alex, we can’t do anything without risking them or ourselves!” Kara hissed, although she followed Alex anyway since she didn’t want her doing something stupid “That’s why the cops are on the way” Alex said, rolling her eyes before quietly making her way along the building.
Lena walked to where her mother was as fast as possible, slamming the door open and glaring at her “You weren’t supposed to hurt them!” She shouted, slamming her hands down on the table in front of her mother “Now, I made no such promise, I said they wouldn’t be dead” Lillian said, not fazed by Lena’s outburst “Tell me why you felt it necessary that I be here that you kidnapped Y/N” Lena said, looking at Lillian and watching as she smirked at her “It was the only way I could guarantee that you take over the company, I wanted you to take it over with Mon El, but you know what happened to him” she said, giving a small shrug as she messed with the pen in her hands “What did you do to him?” Lena asked, having not really cared for him but she didn’t want him dead “He refused to listen, so I disposed of him, just like I did with James when he failed to kill your lover there” Lillian said, looking at Lena and watching as Lena seemed to link everything “James was the one who started the fire” Lena said, looking at her and watching her mother give her a twisted smile “Now you’re catching on”.
Sometime after Lena left, you had managed to get yourself to sit up with a groan, taking a moment to get your bearings before you looked around, spotting something shiny not far from your feet Lena you thought, shifting as best as you could to get whatever it was with your foot and pulling it towards yourself after about the third attempt, grabbing it with your hand and seeing it was one of her hair pins “Shit” you muttered, knowing this would take a while since you had almost no clue how to do this but you went to work anyways, keeping an eye out for the door opening.
Alex peeked through another window and smirked slightly “Coast is clear” she said, pushing the window up which was surprisingly unlocked “They must really think no one will find them” Alex said, carefully climbing in before turning and helping Kara in, the two of them getting to around the corner before Kara quickly pulled Alex back “It’s Winn!” Kara whispered, gesturing to the figure walking down the hall and muttering to himself as he did, only stopping when Alex grabbed him and pulled him to where her and Kara were “Where are they?” Alex hissed, glaring at Winn who seemed to freeze for a moment “You aren’t supposed to be here! You’re going to get them killed!” Winn said, glancing around anxiously before focusing on them again “Look, I didn’t want to do it” he said, pulling them into an empty room “But, I can help you”.
Lena stared at Lillian in pure shock “You killed everyone that went after us? Are you planning to kill Winn too?” She asked, her having liked Winn as her student and she didn’t want to see him killed, even though he helped get you kidnapped “If he doesn’t cooperate, yes” Lillian said simply, looking at her before sighing “Now, do you want your lover to live or not? Join me and we’ll let them go, but if you don’t… Lets just say that the room they’re in is loaded so much with dynamite it could destroy a village” Lillian said, watching as Lena’s eyes widened before she nodded “I’ll go with you, but you have to release them first… I want to see them being let go” Lena demanded, looking at Lillian who rolled her eyes but nodded “Fine, come along” she said, leading Lena out of the room.
“Yes!” You whispered when you got the last chain off, dropping the clip before forcing yourself up even though every movement was painful and going over to the door, quickly hiding behind the door when it opened “Mrs. Luthor… They’re gone” the goon said, seeming to be speaking into a com of some sort and you waiting until they stepped in far enough before you slipped out and slammed the door shut behind you, locking it before making your way down a random hallway.
“They’re in a room not too far from here, but it’s guarded so it won’t be easy to get in” Winn said, looking at Alex and Kara, peeking out the door to make sure no one was around before gesturing for them to follow, them making it about halfway when Winn stopped and listened to his com “They got out… We have to find them before Lillian does” he said, looking at Alex and Kara, them running down a hall until they rounded a corner and Kara slammed into you “Y/N” Kara said, quickly getting up before helping you up and looking you over “What did they do to you?” Alex asked, looking at you and helping Kara get you standing “No time, we have to find Lena” you said, batting their hands away.
Lillian led Lena into a wide-open room in the building before contacting the goon guarding you “What do you mean they’re gone?! Find them!” She shouted into her walkie talkie, glaring at Lena who seemed a little smug “What did you do?” She asked, pulling something out of the pocket of the inside of her coat, it being a small handgun and pointing it at Lena “Don’t try anything, I’m not the only one with a weapon aimed at you” she said, making Lena look around and seeing at least three other guards with weapons aimed at her “What could I do?” Lean asked, looking at Lillian and holding her hands up.
You and the others ran down a hall, pain shooting through your body as you did so but you ignored it, you had to help Lena “Kara, Alex, follow me up these stairs, there’s going to be guards with guns… We’ll take them out and Y/N will distract” Winn said, stopping the three of you outside the room that they were going to bring you “How do we know we can trust you?” Alex asked, looking at Winn and Kara smacked Alex’s arm “He wouldn’t of helped us this far” she said, looking at Alex who rolled her eyes but nodded “Be careful” Alex said, lightly grabbing your arm before pulling you into a hug, Kara doing the same “You guys too” you said, watching them head up the stairs before you took a deep breath and stepped into the room.
Lillian stepped around to stand behind Lena when she heard the doors open, you holding your hands up and walking towards them slowly with a slight limp “Easy, I’m here to talk” you said, stopping a few feet in front of them and slowly lowering your hands “You don’t get to be the lead of this” Lillian said, grabbing Lena and pressing the gun to her head “I’m going to tell you what you’re going to do” she said, looking at you and you nodded “Okay, I’ll listen” you said, glancing at Lena who looked like she was in tears with how helpless she was in this situation “Good, I want you to stay right there while I slowly back away and take Lena with me, you try anything you’re both dead” she said, keeping her eyes on you while you glanced up at the walkway “I wouldn’t be so sure of that” you said, looking back at her to see her looking, not seeing her goons but Kara, Alex, and Winn staring her down from where her goons were “No” Lillian said, glancing around some before shoving Lena forward and turning to run only for the cops to be pulling in in front of where she was going to run, you catching Lena before she fell and watching as Lillian seemed to panic, looking around some before she grabbed you, watching as the cops made their way towards the building “Let me go” you said, gritting your teeth and struggling in her grip “No, if I get arrested, you die” Lillian said, glaring at you and about to say more when something forced her down and the gun to slide away, Lena having tackled her and the gun sliding in front of you, you watching as Lillian got the upper hand and started to choke Lena, you springing into action and grabbing the gun, not even thinking about it when you pulled the trigger, hitting Lillian in the back and watching as she cried out before she collapsed, Lena getting out from under her and coughing, rushing over to you when she saw you frozen in fear, still aiming the gun “Hey hey hey, it’s okay” she soothed, having you drop the gun before she pulled you close to her just as the cops came in.
A few days after the event, you were getting ready for your release from the hospital, Kara and Alex were helping you get everything ready when there was a knock on the door “Hey… Can I come in?” Lena asked, looking at the three of you and you nodding “Sure” you said, glancing at Kara and Alex who nodded “We’ll give you two a moment” Kara said, heading out of the room with Alex and closing the door on their way out “I’m so-“ the two of you said, laughing some before you spoke up “You go first” you said, looking at her and watching her nod before going over to you to sit on the edge of your bed “I’m so sorry you were dragged into all this, it was never my intention to hurt you or get you hurt” Lena said, looking at you with an apologetic expression “It’s okay, I’m not mad at you… I’m sorry for prying so much” you said, looking at her and watching her shake her head “No no no, you have nothing to be sorry for, I wanted to tell you, but I couldn’t risk you… But it looks like it didn’t matter” Lena said, reaching over and resting her hand on top of yours “Can we start over?” She asked, looking at you and biting her lip “Of course… I didn’t want to break up to begin with” you said, giving her a small smile and laughing when she tackled you in a hug, only pulling back when you heard Kara ‘awwwww’, causing you to blush as you quickly pulled back.
You were back at your dorm for the first time in a while and sighed as you started packing your things “Got any big plans for Christmas?” Kara asked teasingly, watching as you rolled your eyes and threw a pillow at her “You know exactly what I’m doing” you chuckled, zipping up your bag and looking at your phone when it vibrated “I’ll see you for Christmas Eve, right?” You asked, looking at Kara who grinned and nodded before tackling you in a hug “Of course, be safe okay? And rest! You’re still healing” Kara said sternly, you rolling your eyes but nodding “I will, take care of our dog, okay?” You said, scratching Saiska/Kryptos head as you passed “Of course, love you!” Kara called as you headed out the door “Love you too!” You said before you shut the door, readjusting your grip on your bags before you took the elevator down, looking around the parking lot and smiling when you saw who you were looking for “Waiting for someone?” You asked, smiling some and watching as the person turned “You” Lena said, smiling at you and helping you put your bags in the trunk of her car “Ready?” She asked, smiling at you “Always”.

I feel tired after watching Supergirl’s latest episode. I didn’t not like it, per say, I just think it would have worked infinitely better as a series, a four part series I suppose, since Kara visited four timelines.
That would have solved the whole “Supergirl side characters are being sidelined so much to the point of them having literally one line per episode”- I’m looking at you Nia and Kelly. Even Alex’s scene at Kara’s gravestone didn’t affect me as much as I thought it would because I knew that this was not the timeline Kara would choose (obviously) and I knew that it wouldn’t take long for Mxy to snap his fingers and we were all pulled back to the canon timeline.
Besides, having to watch Lena over and over again react negatively (besides the last reveal of course) to Kara’s secret just didn’t hit me as much as the first (real) one did, because again, I knew that Kara at any time would say, “nope, this isn’t it, let’s try again!” All I kept thinking was, “Katie must be tired too.” So that last reveal where Lena was actually excited about teaming up with Supergirl felt like a breath of fresh air to me...and yet that too was taken away much too quickly for my liking.
There was just so much stuff to unpack and delve into in this episode, that the Supergirl creators just decided to only slightly unravel.
I would have wanted to see more of Kara’s demise and how it would affect Alex, the Superfriends, the world...without Kara, would Lena have been captured by her mother and would she have been turned into Metallo? I would think yes.
And when Supergirl and Lena started working together, how did that affect the city? It was clear that they were much appreciated, but what would working in such a close manner and under such dangerous circumstances do to their relationship?
Then there’s the timeline where they’re facing Reign once again and I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised to see Lena show up and potentially save the day. In this version of events I would have liked to see more of how Lena’s death could have affected Kara. Instead of a gut wrenching scene, we got a few seconds of Lena falling into Kara’s arms, Mon-El dying not long after and Kara basically going, “nope, this ain’t it either.”
The best timeline was of course the one where Kara ended up telling Lena early enough and the two decided to partner up for the sake of National City’s safety. There’s a lot of stuff you can drag out from something like this too. Besides the angst that you can use when Lena ends up getting kidnapped of course. Once again, it felt too rushed for my liking. Lena gets kidnapped, Kara wants to get her back but has to give up her identity to save Lena, Winn tells her “it’s cool, save your friends, we can defend ourselves.” So Kara decides to save Lena by sharing her identity with the world, and all the Superfriends end up being targeted. One can safely assume that they all wind up dead in this timeline, maybe even Kara and Lena as well. And yet, this is all stuff we have to fill in ourselves because our lovely imp Mxy brings us back from this timeline as soon as the repercussions for Kara’s decision start to arise. But, ugh, I’m a sucker for people slowly losing their minds over the potential loss of a loved one and I for one would have wanted to see more in the style of frustrated Kara damaging the table and storming off.
The last timeline is what I think many showrunners would love to explore for their characters. I felt a bit disappointed at Lena’s reaction upon seeing Supergirl face to face, after Kara basically approached her like they were old friends. There was something in Kara’s entire demeanor that indicated that there was much between them, a story that Kara knew, and that Lena knew nothing about. All she knew was pain and that she wanted Supergirl to die. However, how can you have a superhero lying in front of you, saying that she’s not going to fight you, and not question it? How can Lena have Supergirl at her mercy at the hands of her kryptonite, and not wonder, who is she to me, that she doesn’t fight back?
Since everyone’s talking about the last scene, I’ll end this with sharing my thoughts on the matter. It hurts. Tough love hurts for sure, but if Kara continued pleading for forgiveness and carrying that hurt with her, there would always be an imbalance between them. No matter what happens, I’ll believe in Supercorp endgame. Even though their love story is better in fanfiction, in my mind, anywhere else than on the show, there’s no denying the fact that Kara and Lena have a sizzling chemistry and can’t stop gravitating around one another. Whatever the showrunners decide to do, it is now canon that if Kara and Lena had never meet, the world would be in shambles. They quite literally need to be with each other to be stronger, and the best version of themselves.
So I’m happy for Kara that she’s able to let the past be the past and move forward. I’m hoping to still see snippets of regret of the loss of her friendship with Lena though, because I don’t think you’re ever able to truly let something go if you loved it as deeply as she did.
They ended up doing what they need to do to move this show and their relationship forward. Lena needs to make her choice, and whatever it is that she chooses, Kara needs to live with it, and Lena needs to accept the consequences.
That’s not to say that I think Kara is entirely in the right here. She did the right thing for herself, which I applaud her for, but I do wish she would have worded it differently. Lena is still hurting, and for that she is lashing out. When you don’t say the right words, they can be misinterpreted so horribly when your mind is clouded with hurt.
Kara is the paragon of hope, but we mustn’t treat her like she can do no wrong.
Lena is hurting, but we mustn’t treat her like everything she does can be excused.
Now Kara is leaving the choice up to Lena, and I really, really hope that the show does us and the characters justice when they find their way back to each other again.
