Part I Part III
Tumblr media
Stabbed in the heart.
As you laid eyes on him and his voice reached your ears, it felt like a sharp dagger had been plunged into your heart.
Across the passing years, you toiled ceaselessly to mend the pain he had sown within you. Each effort, a step toward stitching the wounds he had inflicted, aiming to stride forward. But in a mere heartbeat, his very presence shattered it all. Your hand instinctively found your chest, fingers cradling the pieces of your broken heart, keeping them from falling apart.
And right then, a wave of understanding washed over you – the truth hit home with stunning clarity. You saw, as if for the first time, that your wounds had never fully healed, that the notion of moving on was a fragile illusion. Here, tears tracing a familiar path down your cheeks, you stood in that bathroom, a parallel to the sixteen-year-old you, the girl whose heart he shattered.
Oh, the heartlessness of fate, forcing you to revisit the day that haunted your fears, compelling you to endure once more the darkest hours of your existence. It was the day when dreams crumbled into dust, love turned into ashes, and you were never the same again.
A bitter laugh escaped your lips as your gaze met its reflection in the mirror. Qoren's knocks at the door, your tears falling, Aemond as their cause – the scene was hauntingly familiar. Too familiar.
How cruel fate is for making you repeat the scenario.
How cruel.
Ten years ago..
During lunch break, you stood alone behind the school walls. In the same spot you and Aemond would usually meet to have some passionate sex session, but now you anxiously waited for Aemond, your hands tightly clenched in fear.
A hand embraced you, pulling you close against a firm chest. "Already missing me?"
Aemond.
A quivering exhale escaped your lips, carrying with it the weight of your emotions, as you turned gracefully into his embrace, enveloped by the security of his arms with your head buried in his warm chest.
“ Hey baby.. what’s wrong?” He asked as he pulled you away from him, cupping your face in his large hands to look at you “ What’s wrong!”
Tears flowed freely, your sobs becoming a river of emotions. Aemond pulled you into his embrace once more, holding you close and gently cradling your head as he hushed your cries. "Y/n, love, please tell me. What's happened? Talk to me."
With trembling lips, you managed to speak amidst the tears. "I... I'm pregnant."
You felt his hand go still, and you could sense him holding his breath as the weight of your words sank in. "What?" His voice was a mixture of shock and disbelief.
Looking up at him through tear-blurred eyes, you saw his expression transform into one of horror and disbelief. "I'm pregnant," you repeated, your voice quivering.
"How?" The word escaped his lips, laden with a sense of disbelief and confusion.
Your voice was strained as you recounted the events leading up to this moment. "Your brother, Aegon's party," you explained, your voice catching as you relived the memory. "We were drunk, and you forgot to wear a condom... I think I forgot to take the pill."
Aemond's grip on you seemed to loosen, his hand slipping into his hair as his distress became evident. "My parents are going to kill me if they find out, Aemond! My mother... she noticed it before me, and she's going to take me to the ob—"
"Get rid of it," he interrupted sharply, his tone cutting through the air with a firmness you had never heard before, catching you off guard.
You tried to explain, your voice strained with fear and anxiety. "You know that my family only gives me a strict amount of money! And... I'm scared to have an abortion at home—"
"What do you want me to do?" His tone grew a little louder, causing you to flinch.
"Aemond!" You looked at him, confusion and hurt in your eyes. Why was he reacting this way? "My mother is taking me to the doctor tomorrow morning! She won't even let me go to school! You know how they view the whole 'being pregnant before marriage' thing."
Desperation filled your gaze as you took his hand in yours, holding it tightly. "Just lie to them! Tell them we'll get married after sch—"
"What the fuck are you talking about?" He took steps back from you, his voice rising. "I'm not getting married. I'm still young."
"And you won't! I said just lie." You pleaded with your eyes, hoping he would understand. "Just until they forget abo—"
"I'm not raising kids," he interrupted once again, his tone unwavering. "I applied for college just a week ago! I need to focus on my studies, I need to focus on my dreams. I don't have time to look after a fucking child. I've worked hard for this, and I'm not dropping anything in my last fucking year." He glared at you. "Get rid of it. I don't care how, just... get rid of it and don’t talk to me until you do so!" And with that, he walked away.
You had held onto the hope that he would console you, reassure you that everything would be alright. But instead, his departure left you with a sense of vulnerability and pain. The person who had vowed to stand by you had vanished when you needed him most. The person who drew stars around every scar you had, left you to bleed, alone.
Your sweet Aemond left you with a bigger scar. A scar that you weren’t sure if the stars would heal.
An hour ticked by, and you remained rooted in the same place, tears flowing freely, unchecked. Uncertainty gripped you; you felt lost. The thought of your parents discovering the truth filled you with dread. Their strict beliefs would likely lead them to demand that you keep the baby, only to give it away or face disownment. It was a future you didn't want. The idea of nurturing this life within you, only to have it taken away, was agonizing.
In the end, you sought refuge in the school bathroom, seeking the seclusion of one of the stalls. There, you let your tears flow, a torrent of emotions consuming you. It was only when your friend Qoren broke through the door that you found a lifeline, pulling you out of the depths of your despair.
"Y/n, don't make me break this door!" Qoren's voice echoed urgently, and an unexpected laughter bubbled out of you.
Wiping away your tears, you gazed at your reflection in the mirror for a brief moment, collecting yourself. You knew you had to bury these overwhelming emotions; you had no other choice. Your son's health was fragile; his heart was weak, and the last thing you wanted was to stress him. Protecting him from worry was paramount.
Closing your eyes, you inhaled deeply, finding solace in the whispered reassurance you offered yourself. "I'm okay," you murmured, a quiet mantra, like a promise to both yourself and your sweet child.
You had intended to linger a bit longer, hoping to regain your composure, but as soon as you heard Luke's voice behind the door, an urgency propelled you to open it without delay.
"Mom! What happened? Are you okay?" Luke's worry spilled out as the door swung open. Your gaze flickered to Qoren first, who extended his hand to you immediately, guiding you out of the bathroom.
Glancing upwards, your eyes met Qoren's, his subtle shake of the head conveying a shared understanding.
"It's because of the doctor, is it not?" Luke's earnest eyes held yours once more.
Your breath caught in your throat as you formulated a response, the urge to shield your son from unease overpowering. "No, sweetheart, not because of that," you lied, masking your true emotions. "I'm just worried about you."
Unconvinced, Luke continued to study you. "I don't believe you."
Your reassurances faltered, and you stood, gently taking his small hand in yours, guiding him back to the bed. "It's true," you insisted, your voice bearing the weight of your sincerity. "He's a specialist, a heart surgeon. I've heard he only takes on serious cases, and it made me anxious."
"But I'm fine," Luke's voice held a note of certainty as he reassured you, his hand reaching out to clasp yours.
"We know, buddy," Qoren's presence offered additional comfort as he stood beside you, his arm enveloping your shoulders in a gesture of support. "But we still worry about you."
"Why did he walk away?"
"Perhaps he forgot something," you suggested.
"Yeah, like his stethoscope or something," Qoren added.
Luke surveyed the two of you for a contemplative moment before finally nodding.
Unable to resist the urge, you showered Luke's head with affectionate kisses before enveloping him in a tight embrace. "Hungry?" you inquired gently.
His next request pulled at your heartstrings. "Can I have a turkey sandwich?"
A soft chuckle escaped you, warmth filling your eyes. "Of course."
Glancing at Qoren, you exchanged a silent understanding, and with a nod, you indicated for him to step outside with you.
"I'll check with the doctor while you go grab something to eat from the cafeteria," Qoren suggested, his gaze on Luke. "Is it all right if you stays here alone for a little while?"
"Sure," Luke replied, his attention already shifting back to his iPad.
As you and Qoren stepped out, the door closing behind you, your apprehension spilled forth. "I don't want that fucker anywhere near my son," your voice was tense, carrying a hint of urgency that made Qoren look around nervously.
"We'll find another doctor," Qoren's voice was a soothing balm, his reassurance gentle. "There must be more skilled surgeons available. If you wish, we can even consider transferring him to another hospital. My father knows good doctors in Essos; we can explore that option. And please, don't worry about expenses—I'll take care of it all."
Gratitude swelled within you, your eyes misting over. He drew you closer, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of your head. "Come, let's go talk to the doctor," he urged softly.
Tumblr media
Half an hour had slipped by, and Aemond remained confined within the hospital, in the bathroom in the surgeon's lounge. He couldn't bring himself to move, his body shaking too much to even get to his car and drive home. He sat on the bathroom floor, waiting anxiously for his sister Helaena to pick up the phone.
You…He saw you.
There you stood, a presence that seemed to pierce through his very being. The girl who had plagued his dreams, who had woven herself into every conscious moment and every corner of his mind. The girl he had fervently tried to erase, burying himself in the pages of books and the rigors of surgeries. For a decade, he had scoured the realms of social media, reached out to your parents, and maintained contact with your friends in the hopes of catching a glimpse of your existence. And now, here you were, finally in front of him. But he chose to walk away once more.
In truth, he had no choice but to leave. He couldn't ignore the pain etched in your eyes, the anger that radiated from you. He couldn't deny the depths of hurt that he had caused, nor could he offer any words that could possibly erase or atone for his actions.
Stupid Aemond... Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Regret and self-loathing coursed through his thoughts, a relentless self-critique that echoed within him. He recognized the depth of his mistake, the gravity of his choices. As he remained perched on the bathroom floor, he grappled with the weight of his own shortcomings, the realization of the missed opportunities and the pain he had caused.
Finally, as if an eternity had passed, Helaena's voice broke through the silence.
"What... What the hell do you w—gods, Aemond, are you crying?" Her voice trembled, faltering as it caught the rawness in his.
"...She's here..." Aemond's voice quivered, his words trembling on the precipice of his emotions. His eyes, blurred by the veil of his tears, bore a weight that seemed almost unbearable. "She... She's here, Helaena. I... I have a son."
There was a pause, a momentary silence on the other end of the line, as the gravity of his words began to unfurl. And then Helaena's voice, tinged with disbelief, spoke into his anguish. "Wait, wait, are you talking about... y/n?" Her words carried a mixture of confusion and shock. "She was in Dorne this whole ti—YOU HAVE A SON!"
Aemond's heart ached, a complex fusion of emotions waging a tempest within him. "I... She told me she had an abortion! She... She said she went through with it!" His grip on the phone faltered, and it tumbled from his hand to the floor, an emblem of his shattered resolve. "That was the last thing she said before she blocked me and disappeared."
The words hung heavily between them, a tapestry of regret and longing, of mistakes and missed chances. And then, Aemond's voice quivered with a tremor that seemed to encapsulate a lifetime of ache. "I know, Helaena. He's mine." His voice wavered, and in those words, a world of heartache was painted.
“ How do you know ?”
"He... He has my eyes, Helaena... purple eyes, just like mine. And his hair... He has our mother curls and a hint of silver “ The lump in his throat threatened to suffocate him, his words trembling on the brink of despair. "His nose, his lips... They're like mine."
But then, the dam broke. Aemond's voice cracked, and he was consumed by a tidal wave of sobs. "And he probably hates me... Just like I despised my father. Maybe he looks at me the way we once looked at Viserys."
In response, Helaena's voice was a soft anchor amidst the tumultuous sea of emotions. "You are not him, Aemond. You couldn't have known."
"I did," Aemond's voice quivered, his palm pressing against his chest as though to contain the shards of his own heart from shattering. "I knew... And yet, I asked her to get rid of him... I'm worse than Viserys."
"Have you talked to her?" Helaena's voice was a whisper, a thread of hope laced with a touch of reproach.
"No... I ran away," his admission was a painful whisper, an admission of his own inadequacy.
"Aemond..." Disappointment laced her voice, a mirror to the disappointment he felt in himself.
"What am I supposed to do?" The question held a pang of helplessness, a plea that seemed to stretch beyond the confines of words. "No matter what I say, it won't change anything. No matter what I do, I can't erase my past. I can't undo what's been done. I can't bring back y/n."
Helaena's response was a bittersweet echo, a reflection of truth and reconciliation. "You're right. You can't undo the past, and you won't get her back. But grant her the peace of mind by letting her know that you have suffered. Tell her you regret everything, that every breath is a reminder of the choices that drove her away. Tell her you're miserable, that life has lost its meaning, that the ambition you sought so tirelessly now rings hollow. She lost so much, Aemond. Her family, her dreams, her stability... she bore the weight of your absence alone. You won't get y/n, but you can at least do right by her ."
The dam within Aemond burst, his voice muffled by sobs"But I want her back. I want her to look at me again with those eyes that once held love."
There was a poignant pause "I'm afraid that won't happen, Aemond," her voice held a gentle sorrow, a reflection of the choices that had led them here. "You brought this upon yourself."
"Then what do I do, Helaena?" His voice was a fragile whisper, an echo of his vulnerability in its purest form. "Tell me, please."
"Go find her," her voice held a quiet resolve, a beacon of guidance through the haze of his pain. "Do what I told you. I'll book a flight, be with you in a few hours."
“Please hurry," Aemond's voice quivered with plea "Please, I need you."
"Gather yourself, Aemond," her voice was an anchor, a lifeline he desperately clung to. "Wash your face, and go."
And as the call ended, he was left alone with his shattered heart, the burden of his mistakes weighing heavily upon him. Struggling to his feet, Aemond rose from the cold bathroom floor, his hand clutching the sink for support. He gripped the faucet and let the frigid water flow, splashing it onto his face again and again in a desperate attempt to snap himself out of his overwhelming state. His gaze lingered on his own reflection in the mirror for a few moments, as if searching for answers that remained just out of reach.
With a heavy sigh, he turned away from the sink, leaving the lounge and heading towards his son room.
Tumblr media
Standing behind lucerys room, Aemond gently knocked the door, his hand trembling and so is his breath and legs. Withe shakuy hand ge reach for the door handle and open it.
The room was empty, only his son in inside, Lucerys was looking at him up and down.
“ H..Hello, young man “ his lips trembled with each word leaving his mouth “ Where is your mother?”
Lucerys expression were that of disgust, but then he immediately turned them to neutral “ Cafeteria “
“ And.. and your ..father?” Those words that he forced out of his lips cuts him deep.
“ He was supposed to talk to you “ Lucerys let go of his ipad and flooded his arms in front of him.
“ Me?”
“ Yes you, aren’t you my heart doctor ? “ Lucerys raised his brows.
“ Ah. He must went to the pediatrician. And there has been some changes, so I’m not your doctor anymore “
Lucerys humm and looked him up and down before returning back to his ipad “ you should leave then “
Aemond looked at him for few minutes, swallowing thickly “ I .. Can I check on your heart ?”
“ sure “
Aemond nodded and hesitantly walked towards him, he got out his stethoscope and listened to his heart beat, it was irregular but there was no crackling sound so he was okay for now.
He then looked at his ancle and there was no swelling so he was safe and the danger of heart failure was not high.
“ You are fine, your heart is stable for now “ Aemond sadly smiled “ You will be alright “
Lucerys didn’t respond, he just put on his headphones and gave him a quick fake smile before paying attention to his ipad.
He took a step toward the door, a faint smile playing on his lips as he contemplated how much Lucerys resembled his uncle, Aegon. But as he moved to leave, something froze him in his tracks. His head snapped back toward the sound, eyes widening, and his throat tightened painfully.
"Qogralbar ao kepa, kirimvogon Jaes ziry geptot ao." ( Fuck you dad, thank god she left you )
Aemond turned back to face Lucerys, his expression a mix of shock and realization. His throat constricted, and his lips parted, but no words came forth.
"I’m not stupid, I have eyes and I can see the resemblance, I knew you looked familiar. Plus my mom’s behavior confirmed it all to me, crying over a silver head with eyes that look like mine? can’t she be more obvious. Not to mention that she is a terrible liar ” Luke shook and looked out the window for few minutes, “ You made her cry earlier, and if she sees you, she might cry again," his voice laced with determination as he returned to look at him "And I..." luke tilted his head, his young eyes locked onto Aemond's. "Don't like to see my mother cry. So get the fuck out and don’t you ever bother her again "
Aemond's heart weighed heavier than it ever had before, burdened by a sadness he had never known. His worst fears had materialized before him, unfolding like a nightmare he couldn't escape. In the story of Lucerys's life, he was cast as Viserys, and you, y/n, had become the haunting reflection of his own mother, Alicent. The parallels were undeniable, a stark reminder that history had a cruel way of repeating itself.
Yet, he knew, deep within, that he was not his father. He was not the same. He might not be able to win you back, but he was determined to be unlike the man who had hurt him and countless others. Just as Helaena had advised, he would give you the peace of mind you deserved, something his own mother had never found, not even in Viserys's final moments.
His voice trembled with regret as he whispered to Lucerys, "I'm sorry, kid. Forgive me." With those words, he left the room, his heart heavy with the weight of his past mistakes, and headed toward the cafeteria, where he would seek you out, hoping for a chance to make amends, even if he couldn't turn back time or erase his transgressions.
Tumblr media
You stood in line at the bustling cafeteria, surrounded by a cacophony of chatter, clinking dishes, and the soft hum of refrigeration units. Your mind weighed heavily with the day's decisions, the uncertainty of your son's health, and the resurgence of someone you'd hoped to forget.
After leaving the doctor's office, you had meticulously sifted through profiles and recommendations until you found a new physician for Luke—Doctor Arthur Dayne. His impressive track record and friendly demeanor had reassured you.
Qoren had volunteered to stay behind, intent on gathering all necessary details about potential surgeries or treatments. It was a relief to know you had a friend who would shoulder some of the weight while you ventured to fetch a turkey sandwich for Luke.
Thoughts swirled like a tempest in your mind—Luke's health and the shadow it cast over his future, the practicalities of appointments and treatments, and, looming above all else, his fucking father.
the lady at the cafeteria counter snapped you out of your reverie with a cheery, "Hello, ma'am."
You blinked, momentarily disoriented, before responding, "Hi." Your voice carried a hint of distraction as you glanced at the menu. "I'll have a turkey sandwich, please. And could you cut it in half? Make one of them small."
The cafeteria worker nodded with practiced ease, jotting down your order before turning to assemble it.
You offered a small, reflexive smile but couldn't shake the heaviness that lingered within you. It was a weight you'd grown accustomed to, the burden of being a single parent facing life's uncertainties head-on.
While you waited, you couldn't help but contemplate your own well-being. You'd started to consider seeking therapy, recognizing that burying your feelings wouldn't help. You needed a way to express them, process the trauma, and find a path to healing.
"Here you go!" The cafeteria worker presented you with the bag, accompanied by a warm smile that momentarily lifted your spirits.
You reached into your purse to retrieve your wallet,"Thank you," you offered,
With your wallet safely back in your purse, you turned your attention to making your way through the cafeteria, eager to reunite with Luke. But as you moved, you accidentally bumped into a solid, warm form.
Looking up to apologize, your words caught in your throat as you realized who stood before you….
" Why did you tell me you had an abortion ? "

Modern!Aemond Targaryen x Fem!Reader

Warnings: Some angst, Aegon being the wingman, she/her pronouns, slow burn, eventual smut
Words: 2k

A/N: English is not my main language so i apologize for bad grammar but i hope you still like it! Feel free to reblog and comment! It would make me really happy to know you guys thoughts (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
“Seriously, Aemond. Relax a little.” Aegon drawls, eyeing his little brother carefully.
Aemond stood beside his brother, tense as a rock, contemplating his surroundings while his long pale fingers toy with his old, stained t-shirt. They currently stood in the middle of the clothing store, waiting for their sister Helaena while she chose some new and clean clothes for Aemond.
His siblings finally, after a month of rotting in his penthouse, dragged him out of the house to get some fresh air and apparently, some new clothes.
Aemond just shot his brother a glare and continued nervously toying with his t-shirt. Aegon rolls his eyes. “She did a number on you, didn’t she?” He says with a small frown.
2 months ago, Alys, the love of his life, broke up with him. Their relationship of five years gone by a simple farewell note that she left on their, well now his, penthouse. He still remembers how his heart beat so fast against his ribcages while he searched the whole house for her, noticing that all her clothes and jewelry (which he gifted to her) were gone.
He met her at one of his family company parties. Alys was the secretary of Lyonel Strong. Aemond was completely in awe with her when his eye landed on her, the way she moved so gracefully, and how her green eyes sparkled with mischief and wisdom.
When they made their relationship public, it was quite a shock for everyone, especially his mother. He was 23 and she was 35 at the time which was entirely understandable since they had a big age gap, twelve years to be precise.
“I don’t want to talk about her.” Aemond murmurs, trying his hardest to not think about Alys.
Aegon sighs and wraps his arm around his brother's shoulders. “I know you don’t... But try to loosen up a little.” He looks at Aemond worriedly. “Everyone is worried about you... Seven Hells, even Jace, and Luke are worried-”
Aemond looked down with a frown when suddenly he felt a gentle pull on his jeans. By his feet was a little girl dressed in a princess costume, full of pink and sparkly glitter. Her black hair hangs in two cute pigtails and a small simple tiara on top of her head.
The child looks carefully at Aemond, her eyes fixed on his eyepatch. “Are you a pirate?” She asks with an excited grin, her big round eyes shining in mischief.
Aegon burst out laughing while Aemond just stood there, looking down at the small girl in shock.
She huffs in annoyance and pulls the fabric of his jeans again. “Well?”
Noticing that Aemond does not intend to answer the poor girl, Aegon kneels beside the girl and gives her a kind smile.
“Sorry kid but he’s no pirate.” His answer made the girl frown in disappointment. “But he’s a Prince!” Now that made her look at Aemond in surprise and then back at Aegon, eyeing carefully.
“If he’s a Prince then why he doesn't smile?” She asks.
That pierce a little Aemond’s heart. Kneeling, he grabbed her small hand and gave her a small smile. “I’m sad... So that’s why I don’t smile much, little Princess.”
The girl giggles at her nickname but quickly disappears as she frowns, looking into his eye intensely. Then she took a step forward, placed her tiny hands on his cheeks, and kissed the point of his nose. Aemond stood very still, his eye wide in surprise at the girl's gesture.
She pulls back and smiles in excitement. “There! A kiss always pushes the sadness away!” The girl says proudly. “My mommy always kisses me whenever I'm sad or hurt.”
//// \\\\
“Em!” You call while looking everywhere in the clothing store for your daughter. “Emily! Where are you?!”
You can’t take that girl anywhere without getting a panic attack. You love to the death, she was your sun and moon but sometimes you wish that your daughter wasn't so adventurous. You were finishing a client order when you noticed your daughter leaving the bakery and running into the clothing store right in front. This made you leave everything that you were doing and run after her.
Sighing in relief, you spot her by the men's section talking to 2 silver-headed men. “Emily!” You breathe out as you kneel and pull her into a hug. “Don’t you ever disappear on me again! Mommy’s heart can’t handle any more surprise adventures.”
Your daughter grins at you and points to the man with an eyepatch. “Mommy I found a Prince!” She says excitedly. “Don’t worry, he’s not a pirate.” She whispers that part to you which makes you chuckle.
You stood up, holding Emily in your arms. “I’m so sorry. I hope my daughter didn’t bother you too much.” You apologize.
The handsome eyepatch man stood still looking down at you. A light blush appears on your face as you study his face properly. He was tall, really tall, with beautiful silky long silver hair that was loosely braided. His features were sharp which made him even more attractive. His eye was colored in a lovely ice blue shade with a hint of light purple. A black eyepatch covers his other eye, and you notice a long scar coming out of it down to his cheek. He was dressed in a simple green t-shirt (which seems to have seen better days) some black jeans, and black Doctor Martens.
He seemed nervous as he began playing with his fingers. “Huh... It’s no problem. Your daughter is a very sweet child.” he smiles softly.
“Mommy! Mommy! The Prince was sad so I kissed his nose like you do to me when I'm sad or hurt. And now he’s happy!” Emily giggles while resting her head on your shoulder.
“That’s very sweet of you, Em... But you can’t go wander off and kiss strangers.” You sigh while giving an apologetic look to the silver-headed man. “You know that while mommy is working, you need to stay with Maria.”
Emily rolls her eyes and pouts. “Ugh, but Maria is boring! She stays in front of the computer all day and does nothing... I much prefer staying at home, at least I could play with Pumpkin.”
You adjust her tiara on her head and kiss her forehead gently. “I know but I can’t let you be at home alone, sweetheart.”
While you scold your daughter, trying to convince her to stay with your employee. Aegon stays silent studying the scene before him. He had noticed how Aemond suddenly couldn’t take his eye off you or how his pale cheeks suddenly turned pink when you smiled gently at him.
Aegon also noticed you eyeing his little brother which made him grin mischiefly. Oh, he had a plan forming in his head. A BIG plan.
“Excuse me, I don’t mean to intrude but it seems you are in need of a babysitter for this lovely Princess,” Aegon says while smiling at Emily who grins at him. He wraps his arm around Aemond’s shoulders and pulls him to his side. “My baby brother, Aemond, is in need of a job and he’s great with kids. He usually babysits our nephews. So, he knows how to take care of children.”
Aemond shot Aegon a glare and opened his lips to disagree with whatever his brother had in mind, but Aegon just smiled at him and stepped on his foot to silence him.
“So, what do you think?” Aegon grins down at you.
You frown gently. It’s true that you seriously needed a babysitter for Emily, but you don’t have time to look for one since being a single mother and owning a bakery occupy your days. Also, it’s hard to trust a stranger to look after your kid. Your friend, Nat, tried to convince you to hire a babysitter after Emily turned one year old but you quickly refused, saying that you could perfectly manage taking care of Emily and your business alone.
Oh boy, how wrong you were. Since Emily started walking, your life has been a nightmare. She was like a ninja. One minute she was there and the next, she was gone. Every day you would have to run off from your work to go find her. She loves exploring and she makes sure you know that, every, single, day.
Maybe Nat is right.
“Okay,” You sigh. Aegon clapped in victory and smiled at his brother. “But I will be needing an interview with Aemond. To see if he has the training that is needed to look after a child.”
“Of course! When?” Aegon asked while Aemond just stood there petrified.
“Tomorrow at 2 pm.” You took your business card and gave it to Aemond. “You will find me in my bakery shop. It’s right in front of this store.”
Aemond nodded and took your card. “Thank you... I’ll be there.”
You smile gently and say your goodbyes, taking Emily back to your shop. “Bye Bye Prince!” The girl waved to him with a toothless smile which made Aemond smile gently and wave back.
When you and Emily are out of the clothing store, Aemond turns to his brother and slaps roughly on his shoulder. “What in the actual fuck was that, Aegon?!” He growled.
Aegon hissed in pain and pouted. “Ouch!... Is this how you thank your big brother for getting you a date with that hot girl?!”
Aemond rolls his eye. “By making me a babysitter?” He sighs. “Look Aegon, I'm not ready to be with someone yet... Also, did you not think that maybe she has a husband?”
Aegon grins at him. “No ring on her finger so she’s probably single. And you are more than ready to be with someone... It’s been two months since you and Alys broke up, you had your time weep and now it’s time to go back into action.”
Helaena pops beside Aegon with her arms full of clothes that she chooses for Aemond. “Our little brother has a date tomorrow!” Aegon claps excitedly.
Helaena gasps in surprise and then looks back to the clothes in her arms and back to Aemond, frowning gently. “We need more clothes.” She whispers while going back into the clothing store with Aegon on her trail.
Aemond sighs in defeat but a tiny smile appears on his thin lips. He’s not going to lie, you seem really interesting.

“Where else should we go?”

..
Aegon dipped his sunglasses low, “Wherever you wish to visit will suit me just fine, darling.”
Helaena rubbed a thick strip of sunscreen along her husbands nose, “Well, if you say so. How about Paris then?” She asked.
“Paris? Leave the countryside?”
“Why not?”
Aegon nodded and passed Helaena the bowl of grapes, “Well, we should pack then. We’ll need to phone mum as well.”
Or: Helaena and Aegon, newly wedded, find themselves leaving the countryside of France, and on their way to Paris for their honeymoon.

There were certain rules to being a veterinary technician.
Number one, waterproof mascara and eyeliner always; you’ll never get used to those abuse cases or having to hold someone’s hand as they say goodbye to their beloved pet. Number two, carry a lint roller on you at all times; it’s best to get the pocket-sized one, because both dogs and cats shed a lot! Especially Bella the Saint Bernard who was due for her yearly check up today. Number three, iron your scrubs! And it’s probably best to keep an extra pair in your car, because it’s more likely than not that you’ll end up getting peed on by someone’s over-excited pup.
Even though you knew these rules by heart and you followed them every single day of your work life, today was an exception. It was just one of those days that absolutely nothing- no matter how hard you tried- was going right. You were covered in fluffy cat hairs, Mrs. Comier’s Jack Russell, Hankie, peed on your leg twice, and you had run out of waterproof mascara. So, when Mr. Langley brought in his thirteen year old Labrador to put her down, he cried and so you cried, and in the end you looked like the raccoon that liked to sneak into the office dumpsters at closing hoping to find some cat food.
Today just wasn’t your day.
It was fifteen minutes until closing time, and you could feel the excitement and exhaustion in your bones. You were desperate for rest, to go home and take a shower, crawl in bed and watch terribly written romantic comedies on Netflix until you passed out. If only you could snap your fingers and make those last few minutes fly by, but that was impossible and unfortunately manipulating time wasn’t a superpower you had acquired yet, so instead you swept and mopped the floors for the sixth time that day.
And that was when you heard it.
The tiny bell over the door chimed, signaling that a customer had just walked in and you could hear the pitter-patter of doggie feet on the linoleum floors. As far as you knew, there weren’t any more customers scheduled for the day; the last appointment was over thirty minutes ago and they were a no-show. From your spot in the back hallway, you could hear your coworker, talking to the patient and before you knew it, she was charging through the back door. You took one look at her, knowing what her question would be before she even opened her mouth. That shit-eating-grin was always plastered on her face when she wanted something.
“No,” you said as you swept the dirt into the dustpan.
“Come on, bestie,” she whined. “I really need to get out of here on time tonight! It’s just a simple check-up and she seems really nice! Please will you take them?”
Not wanting to argue or cause an issue, you sighed, exhaling every ounce of oxygen in your lungs before finally giving in. She was practically beaming with excitement as your shoulders slumped, eyes rolling back as you sat the broom down.
“Oh, my God! Thank you so much! I owe you, big time,” she went to hug you but you stepped to the side, avoiding her embrace at all costs.
You simply nod at your coworker as you try to dust some of the cat hairs from your scrubs. It was no use, and you knew that, but still, you at least tried to look more professional. After the day you’ve had, you should have known that clocking out on time was just too good to be true, but you still put a smile on your face as you walked up to the front desk. One day you’d cash in on all of the times she owed you for, but today wasn’t that day. Everything that could have gone wrong today had already gone wrong, and at this point you were only giving in to her for the plot. What else could possibly happen?
When you got to the front desk, you looked over the counter to see the customer on one knee as she played with the tiny puppy; rubbing its belly and tickling its sides.
“How can I help you?” You asked with that fake customer service voice.
The young woman turned around and looked up at you, flashing one of the most brilliant smiles you had ever seen, and you could have sworn that a chorus of angels were singing in the background– or maybe it was just the classical music on the radio that your boss liked to play, who knows? She was absolutely stunning though, with her pale blonde hair and striking lavender eyes.
“Hey, uh- I had an appointment for this little guy,” she replied with a soft smile as she moved to stand.
“Okay,” you nodded, trying to remember to breathe. You could smell her perfume as she took a step up to the counter. “What’s this little guy’s name?”
“His name is Sunfyre.”
“Oh,” you realized that this was that no-show appointment that should have been here thirty minutes ago. It was then that you looked right past her good looks and lilac scented perfume and let the irritation settle back in. “You’re Mr. Targaryen? You had an appointment with us at 5:00.”
The woman rubbed a hand on the back of her neck and gave you a sheepish smile.
“Not Mr. Targaryen, that’s my brother. I’m Helaena,” then she lets out a sigh. “He’s out of town and forgot to mention that I needed to be here until ten minutes before I was supposed to be here and then there was traffic, and I’m really sorry that I’m late. I hope I can still get him in, I mean, if that’s okay. If it’s too late then I’ll just make another appointment, I guess”
Your eyes widened as she rambled on and then you smiled at her. If it were anyone else, you probably would have told them to make another appointment and kick rocks. But this girl was just so gorgeous and her smile was just so beautiful, and your hopes of getting home on time were already sacked, so you led her back to the exam room and told her that it was no problem.
“Hopefully this doesn’t take too long,” she mentioned as she picked Sunfyre up and sat him on the table.
Wait, was she actually rushing you?
“I’ve got this stupid thing I’m supposed to go to tonight,” she continued as you checked the puppy’s weight.
She really was rushing you.
“It’s a blind date that Aegon, uh-”
Before she could say ‘Mr. Targaryen’, you nodded your head to let her know that you understood who she was talking about.
“Yeah,” Helaena kept on, not really caring that you weren’t really listening. “He set it up and I’m just nervous. I’ve never really been on a date- well, I’ve been on dates, but never a blind one. With the way this day has been going, he’ll probably end up being an alien with six eyes.”
“I know how you feel,” you mumbled under your breath.
“What’s that?” She asked.
“Oh, I just agreed with you,” you replied, not really wanting to go into details about your day with a girl who was about to go on a blind date and probably fall in love with someone that wasn’t the vet tech with a piss stain on her leg. Besides, her blind date was with a man which meant your chances were pretty much shot. “About the way this day has been going.”
“You’ve had a bad day, too?”
“I’m going to let Dr. Strong know you’re ready and we’ll try to get you out of here as soon as possible,” you say, ignoring her question.
“Oh, okay. Thanks,” she replied as you shuffled out of the exam room.
Your boss looked up at you from his desk and raised his eyebrows underneath his glasses. You said nothing and only dropped the puppy’s chart on his desk with a thud, before turning back around and heading into the back hallway. You could hear that Helaena girl sweet talking the pup from behind the door and your expression softened for a moment. But that was only until you glanced at the clock and saw that it was well past closing time, and you should’ve been walking through your front door right now; maneuvering out of your bra and kicking off your non-slip, worn out tennis shoes. Your frown came right back as you looked over the front desk, making sure everything was in order before your boss eventually called you in for an extra hand.
You sighed as you saw that your coworker had bailed on stamping the outgoing bill statements, a job which was tedious and tiring, and usually ended in cramped hands and sticky fingertips. With a soft groan, you sat down, flexing your toes in your shoes and tried to quickly stamp as many envelopes as you could.
“Hey, kiddo,” Dr. Strong called from somewhere within the office. “Can you lend me a hand for a moment?”
You stood up and tossed the envelopes in the mailing bin before heading towards the back hallway.
“What’s up, doc?” You asked with a forced grin as you tried to lighten the mood. Your boss, Harwin, had been under constant stress ever since his partner veterinarian, Dr. Tully, quit the practice to focus on his family.
“Can you draw me up 1cc of Nobivac?” He asked as he scribbled something down in the chart in front of him. “And I’m going to need you in the room when I administer it, there’s a note in the little guy’s chart that says he’s not very good with shots.”
“Yes, sir,” you replied as you pulled the keys to the medical cabinet out of the front pocket of your scrubs.
Helaena smiled at you when you entered the exam room once again. The puppy in her hands jumped in your direction, tail wagging from side to side as he whined for attention. “I think he likes you,” the girl commented as she tried to hold the puppy back.
“That’s nice,” you replied with a soft smile, not really wanting to make small talk with Ms. I-Have-A-Blind-Date-Can-You-Hurry-Up. “But he’s probably not going to like me very much after getting poked.”
“Probably not,” Helaena laughed. You couldn’t help but feel a little light-headed at the sight of her smile, despite your tough facade. The sound of her laugh was just as attractive, if not more so. “But who knows, maybe he’ll forgive you.”
Dr. Strong stepped into the room, cutting your conversation short to begin his own spiel; informing Sunfyre’s short term owner of the possible side effects of the rabies vaccine, and also why it is important to have one. Information that, hopefully, Helaena would pass on to the absent Mr. Targaryen.
While your boss prepped the puppy for his first rabies shot, your job was to try and distract the little guy as much as possible and to keep him comfortable, of course. Helaena stood off to the side, letting the two of you work your magic, and within seconds- without even so much as a yelp- the procedure was finished and Sunfyre’s tail was still wagging.
“All done,” you cooed, placing a kiss on the puppy’s wet nose.
“Looks like he still likes you,” Helaena said as she hooked Sunfyre’s leash back to his collar. “I had a feeling he would.”
You went to say something, but Dr. Strong got there first, sticking his hand out to Helaena for a handshake and saying, “It was nice to meet you. Please tell Mr. Targaryan that we look forward to seeing him at the next visit, which you can coordinate at the front desk.”
“Thank you,” she replied. “I’ll be sure to let him know.”
“You can follow me, this way,” you told her, ushering her and Sunfyre out of the exam room and into the lobby. “That’ll be $115,” you told her after tallying up the total sum of the visit.
She let out a low whistle and pulled her wallet from her back pocket, “is there any way to leave a tip for your excellent customer service?”
You let out a dry laugh, and bit the inside of your cheek to keep from saying something that would get you in trouble. “While I appreciate the offer, you should probably save it for your date tonight.”
“Date?” She asked as she signed the credit card receipt. “Shit, right, my date!” She exclaimed, thrusting the tiny piece of paper your way. “I gotta go!”
You made a face and hurriedly handed her a copy of the bill and a rabies tag for Sunfyre.
“Good luck,” you told her as she rushed out the front door. “And you're welcome,” you said with a frown after she didn’t even say ‘thank you’.
Happy that your day was finally over, you couldn’t help but feel like you had just been kicked in the gut. As you finished stamping the monthly statements, your mind was stuck on what Helaena and her blind date– who may or may not be an alien with six eyes– were doing right now. Was he smart? Was he making her laugh? Did he appreciate how absolutely breathtaking her smile was? Did she see him and immediately know that he was the one she had been searching for? Did time stop?
“Hey,” you heard Dr. Strong’s voice from behind you and realized that you had been standing in the same spot for minutes now, holding a stack of envelopes that you had meant to drop into the bin. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” you replied as you came back to reality.
“Don’t forget you’re fostering Nugget tonight to make sure that he doesn’t pull out his stitches,” he told you before disappearing back into the hallway.
“Ah, yes, Nugget,” you replied, mostly to yourself, as you were sure your boss was out of earshot. “The overweight Chihuahua who looks like he ate one, too many nuggets. I couldn’t be more excited.”
After you locked up and had Nugget on a leash, you said your goodbyes to your boss; happy as ever that- even though it was well after dark- you were finally going home. You picked the chunky Chihuahua up, making sure not to touch his freshly removed manhood and placed him in the backseat, where he quickly made a home. Before you even pulled your seatbelt on, you pulled your hair out of its ponytail and ran your fingers over your tender scalp. It was the first step to comfort after what you were sure was the worst days you might have ever had. You’d take your shoes off if you could,, but you were sure there was some crazy law about driving barefoot, so you left them on.
Nugget stayed quiet for most of the way, until he unexpectedly started to whine. Thinking that he might need to go potty, you pulled over into the parking lot of an ice cream parlor. He hopped out of your backseat gingerly, and led you over to the grassy area where he proceeded to squat and relieve himself.
“Fancy meeting you here,” you heard from across the parking lot and turned to see none other than Mrs. Blind Date herself, Helaena. Just when you thought this day was starting to get better, she began walking toward you with Sunfyre in tow.
“Oh, hi,” you replied, cautiously looking around for the hot shot that would inevitably be introduced as her date. You didn’t want to ask, but curiosity got the best of you and, “how was your date?”
“Well, I was supposed to meet him here and he never showed,” she replied, looking a bit dejected. “I’m honestly not surprised at all. I mean, if you knew my brother, you probably wouldn’t be surprised either. Besides, what else should one expect from a man?” You laughed at that. “I was just about to leave, but then I saw you, and figured I’d say hello.”
You bit your lip to keep from smiling again at her rambling, unable to help yourself when you heard that there was no date, and that this extremely attractive stranger was somehow still single. “Well, hello.”
Helaena smiled brightly before taking notice of Nugget, who was shaking at the thought of being petted by someone new, and dropped down to a knee so that she could reach him. “Who’s this little chunker?”
“This is Nugget,” you replied. “I’m fostering him for the night.”
“Fitting name,” she laughed, standing back to her regular height. “So, can I buy you an ice cream? I don’t think I said thanks before I ran out of your office earlier and I’d like to make it up to you.”
“Sure,” you replied quickly before you gave yourself a chance to say no. “I mean, yeah, that would be nice.”
Helaena smiled as you fell in step with each other, making your way to the front of the booth. Sunfyre and Nugget were playing with each other; romping around and playing together; putting you and Helaena into a few awkward positions as you had to unwrap their leashes from around each other’s legs. You learned that she was an artist, mostly oil paintings and photography, who lived on the quiet side of the city with Aegon, her brother. And you told her all about your bad day, and what it was like working in a veterinary office, and some of your funny stories from college.
Before you could even eat three bites of your ice cream, Nugget had coerced you into giving him most of it; which probably wasn’t what his actual owners intended for him to eat after his surgery. Helaena didn’t mind that the ice cream she had bought for you went to satisfying a fat Chihuahua’s sweet tooth, especially not when most of her own ice cream was being lapped up by little Sunfyre.
“Well, I should get home,” you told her after seeing the neon ‘open’ sign of the parlor shut off. “It’s getting late.”
She nodded, standing up from the bench that you had been sitting on, “It was really nice running into you.”
“I agree,” you replied with a smile.
“If you’d like to, maybe I can take you to dinner next?” She asked as she nervously ran a hand through her hair. You blinked a few times, wondering if you had heard her correctly or if it was your mind playing tricks on you. “You don’t have to.”
“I’d like to go to dinner with you,” you told her quickly and honestly.
“Really?” She asked excitedly. “I mean, that’s cool.”
“Should we?” You asked, taking out your phone to swap numbers and she laughed.
“That’s probably a good idea.”
You repeated the numbers twice to make sure she typed in the right ones, and after an awkward hug that seemed like it was almost a kiss on the cheek, you and Nugget happily walked back to your car. As soon as the driver’s side door was shut, you let out a joyous squeal and did a small dance in your seat. Your phone vibrated from the cup holder as you shifted into gear. You picked it up quickly and swiped at the screen until an unsaved number popped up on your screen. Your heart soared at the message that could only have been from one person.

She’s the most popular out of all the siblings
Everyone knows her and she knows everyone and no one has a mean thing to say
But this also means she has all the tea
Is constantly gossiping with Aemond about all the things she learns
“Wait till I tell you what Baela said about Jace because Rhae told me…”

A gift for you | HOTD Modern 「AU」
Tumblr media
You loved Secret Santa, but you were unlucky enough to receive dubious and average gifts.
pairing: Jacaerys | Aegon | Aemond | Lucerys and Helaena x Fem!Reader
a/n: Merry Christmas sweeties, here in Brazil is the 25th, in other places to the east is probably the 26th. I hope you have a great day and holiday ❤️
You loved Secret Santa but were unlucky enough to receive dubious and average gifts. Even so, it was always a pleasure to join in the fun with your friends, family, and strangers — a story for another time. For the friend Secret Santa you had taken Helaena, loving the result of the draw because a little while ago she had mentioned a reputable book on entomology. Of course you bought the book — hoping she hadn't bought one too — and boxed it up with a cute picture of you at the beach last year.
When the night of delivering the gifts arrived you were very excited, but you hoped that Aegon didn't take you away again. He was HORRIBLE at choosing gifts. You also didn't want Luke to have taken you because he probably wouldn't know what to buy and would end up turning to Jace, telling him who took it. Soon, only Aemond, Jace, and Helaena were left as decent gift givers.
By drawing lots to determine the first to reveal, you have started the most anticipated event of the year.
“So, my Secret Santa. is someone very special to me and-“
“Awn, honey, you are also very special to me too,” Aegon interrupted, earning a glare that was a little irritated from the others and a little amused by your own.
“I know, Aeg. Moving on, the person I took is very sweet, kind, and quirky. It’s an extraordinary person who I have a lot of admiration for.”
“Then it’s not Aegon,” Luke teased with a shitty grin that made him curiously cuter, making everyone but the eldest Targaryen laugh.
“Fuck off,” he let out a huff, but surrendered to the mood of the moment. "Not Aemond either, he's not sweet.”
Before Aegon noticed his brother's slashing gaze, you countered: “He is very sweet!”
"Thanks love,” Aemond's expression softened at the praise, drawing his brother's attention to you.
Going back to the presentation, you added:
“This person recently expressed interest in a specific gift that I hope they didn't buy. My Secret Santa is Helaena!”
The two of you shared a big smile before/during the hug.
“I can't believe you bought the book! I loved!!!! Thank you so much sweetie, I love you.”
“Love you too Hel.”
She took her turn, picking up the red bow wrapper. Fun fact about Helaena: even though she is an excellent gift giver, she is horrible at mysteriously revealing her Secret Santa, nothing subtle, although she tried.
“My secret friend is someone very kind and sweet-“
“Not Aegon again,” Jace interrupted this time, earning a satisfied smile from Aemond. “Sorry.” He told Helaena.
“You guys really love me,” the eldest grumbled.
“And I'm so happy to take you out again! It's you Jace!" She grinned at the Velaryon.
Okay, you think her spontaneity was cute, but rather anticlimactic. Last year she had given him a sweet dog named Vermax (it was quite difficult to get him to the place without him noticing). This year she handed him a football autographed by Joe Montana, making him nearly choke in disbelief.
“Oh my god, how did you get that? This is the best gift ever! After Vermax of course, but oh my god oh my god.” He freaked out, grinning as he caught the ball as gently as a newborn baby. It wouldn't be surprising if he kissed the object made of leather.
“You wouldn't believe me if I told you.” She smiled after hugging him, returning to her seat beside you on the comfortable rug in Targaryen mansion.
“That was impressive.” Aemond pointed out, fully aware that no other gift would top this one.
His sister confirmed in self-knowledge, earning a sideways look from the youngest. Next up was Jace, who had an adorable decorated box and a cute smile on his face. Important fact about Jace: the first person you look at during the speech will be his Secret Santa. Everyone knew but no one warned him, it was fun to watch him do it every year.
But apparently, he had noticed such a habit and decided to keep his eyes on the present tense as he spoke:
“So, my Secret Santa is a really, really special person. This person is smart and kind, has one of the biggest hearts I know, and is one of my best friends. She always complains about receiving bad gifts, like a picture frame, soap kit and a set of three aluminum pans last year-“ Oh! Okay that was surprising. He took you!!!!!
Your smile was so wide and happy as he revealed it, heart warming immediately.
“In my defense, you always liked to cook.” Aegon cut him off at the hint. Yes, he had given you three aluminum pans that would stick to ALL the sauces and food you cooked. Maybe if they were good pots you would have appreciated them.
“You like to fuck and that’s why I should give you condoms?” You asked. “Also, the quality of the pans were horrible.”
“Oh common.” The blonde grumbled, pouting cutely.
“Okay, so even though I've known you for years it was quite difficult to find a really, really good gift. For a moment I almost bought a set of pants and t-shirts at forever 21, but who gives someone clothes for Christmas? So, since you're a bit of a nerd and quite conceited, I thought I'd buy something to tie that together.”
You hugged him before opening the present, resting your head on his shoulder. “If you had bought a set of clothes I would have killed you. Love you, Jace.” Your voice was low on the last part, almost confiding.
“Love you too.” He kissed your temple, handing you the box.
Your eyes widened to the gold necklace with your favorite heroine's symbol carved into the pendant with small stones the color of her uniform. Below was the hardcover novel of your favorite saga, which was also hers. There was a note inside, and a small box of jewelry.
"I loved Jace, I can't believe it, it's perfect, I love you so much!!"
You touched the note with a knowing eye, saving it to read later. He noticed this, smiling sweetly at your act. He returned to sit across from your, keeping a sweet gaze in your direction.
“I'm next.” Aemond announced, rising elegantly. Fun fact about him in Secret Santa: he's incredibly methodical and direct, there's no much suspense, but he's really good at describing. “My Secret Santa is a brat, and he can be a real brat sometimes, but he has a big heart and knows how to be… adorable. I didn't really know what to buy initially, but when you said you wanted a good zombie game for Xbox I thought it would be a good opportunity.”
Another interesting fact is that Aemond sometimes purposefully confuses the audience in his description, and he's really good at it.
"For a moment I thought it was Aegon." Helaena said in confusion. You agreed with her, seeing the smile curl the youngest Targaryen's lips.
“It was intentional.” He looked at Luke with a small smile as the youngest ran towards the present, hugging him. “Left 4 Dead is a classic, I hope you like it.”
“Did you buy both? Thank you Aemond, this is so cool.” Lucerys's big blue eyes were excitedly over the gift.
The blonde smiled proudly in satisfaction. “Glad you like it.” As I said, he is very methodical and doesn't usually disappoint.
"Okay Jace, which gift did you pick for me or Aemond?" Aegon teased him with an unimpressed and aware look as Luke took the relatively large box in his hands.
“This one is mine, actually. I had bought a better present for my Secret Santa, but since he embarrassed me in front of Baela and Rhaena last week and didn't apologize I decided to buy something he will probably put to better use.” Luke quickly blurted out that Aegon was his Secret Santa, leaving him intrigued by his new gift.
“I didn't embarrass you entirely. Entirely." The blonde took the box curiously, opening it to find a crate of Heineken and a Marlboro wallet. “I don’t even like Heineken!”
"I know." The younger Velaryon retorted with a proud smile.
“How did you buy a case of beer and a pack of cigarettes? You’te underage.” Aegon complained. "This was worse than anything I've ever given you."
“Thanks Luke.” You thanked him in amusement, watching Aegon pick up Marlboro Watermelon's wallet with a slight frown. “You like to smoke, I think it was a valid gift.” The elder's gaze was incredulous and accusing towards you, making you jump to answer. "And no, I didn't buy it."
When Luke confessed that it was Daemon, Aegon's gaze narrowed. Turning now to him, the last to deliver the gift, the terror of all participants in the competition. Aemond heaved a sigh as his brother walked to the front of you, not sparing a grumpy grunt.
"Oh Jesus."
“I'm sorry, dude.” Jace comforted him with a hand on his shoulder, making Aegon roll his eyes before starting.
“Every year you complain that my presents are awful. This time I made sure not to make the same mistake as it may not look like it, but I love you guys and especially my little brother here. It was fucking hard to find something good, since you don't like anything-"
"I like a lot of things." Aemond cut him off sharply, holding back from rubbing his eyes in realization.
“Anything fun. So I hope you like this one, it's pretty nerdy.”
“Is it a teacher-student porn?” Jace asked in mock serious tones, eyebrows raised and eyes cynical.
You chuckled before raising your hand towards him for a high five, but then, Aemond unwrapped the gift to reveal a rather fancy book on the history of the Persian Empire. Okay, it was a really good gift.
"Are you okay?" Helaena asked the elder in mock concern. “That sounds like a decent gift.”
“It is, thanks brother.” Aemond rose to embrace him, trully satisfied with the new addition to their collection. Knowledge is never too much.
“Glad you liked it, that was pretty expensive.” He stressed. “And now, what shall we do?”
“Let's take a picture with our gifts.” You suggested, turning on the phone to put on the camera.
“No please.” Aemond complained again, earning a bored look from him. The man was a hiding machine.
“Yes please!” Finding the perfect position that featured all of you and those in the selfie, you instructed, “Say fuck Aegon.”
It didn't take much prodding from the other four.
“FUCK AEGON!”
“Oh common.”

Can I take it off now?” Aegon laughed as he took Helaena’s hand, squeezing it gently with his other hand on the driving wheel and taking another turn.
“No, not till we get there.” Aegon saw from the corner of his eye, Heleana played with the ends of the blindfold that he put on her.
Today was her 23rd birthday and he went through many ideas of what to do for them, he at first thought of a simple dinner with a small cake but that’d be boring. Plus in his opinion, Helaena deserved more than a simple dinner, he was going to surprise her, only saying to simply dress semi fancy; she wore a simple pale blue dress, a small butterfly necklace around her neck. Slightly better than his own outfit, simply wearing a pair of jeans and a nice green shirt.
They had been together for a while now and he wanted to make it special, grabbing her hand again and he pressed a kiss to it; she repeated the sentiment and kissed his hand back, it only took a few moments till she started asking questions again.
“Is it a diner?”
“No,” he gave a leaned over to give her a quick kiss on the cheek.
“Can you at least give me a hint?” Helaena took his hand and played with his fingers, it was something that she’d do sometimes whenever she was bored or fidgety. Aegon suppressed a smile and simply said:
“It’s a large building.”
He could feel Helaena stare at him and he couldn’t help but laugh, making a stop to get gas. Heleana took off her blindfold and quickly looked around, noticing something.
“Isn’t this the direction to the art museum?” The confused excitement was clear in her voice, he nodded and smiled; the smile widening as Helaena leaned in to kiss him, moving away slightly and smiling.
“Thought you’d love it.” Though Aegon never really bothered with museums, Helaena had loved them, enjoying Van Gough’s paintings or any painting at that, she had said that he inspired her to get into painting things; they were simple water colored paintings of moths and butterflies, giving him a watercolored painting of a beetle.
After the gas stop, they drove to the museum. Walking in with their hands intertwined as they looked at the art and sculptures, as Helaena admired the paintings and sculptures; Aegon took photos of Helaena looking at them, they reached one of the paintings called “The Kiss” which showed two lovers embracing and the man kissing the woman’s cheek.
He moved to stand next to her and put a hand to her face to remove some hair from her face, looking at the painting then back to Helaena. Moving in to kiss her cheek then lips, her lips felt warm and slightly glossy due to her lipgloss. Once they moved away from each other, she grinned and tapped a finger to his lips.
“Got lipgloss on you, sorry.” He gave her a lopsided smile and dabbed the gloss off, putting his hand to her shoulder as they both stared at the painting; taking his phone out of his pocket, he snapped another photo of Helaena looking at the painting, though when he was going to take another one. She turned to see him doing so, a confused smile playing on her lips.
“You taking pictures of me?” He smirked and shrugged, putting his phone in his pocket as they walked from the painting to another sculpture.
“How can I not? You are a lovely work of art,” walking to another part of the museum as he pressed a kiss to the side of her head.
“Happy 23rd, Hel.” She smiled and took his hand, he felt a warm feeling in his stomach which went to his face.
“Thank you, Aeg.”

Calling all my Helaena enthusiasts here!
I am currently writing a Modern HOTD Helaegon fic (has been in my WIPs for a while) and in one line I mentioned Helaena reading a book. Then I decided to actually name the book instead of just saying "a book" and now it has pulled me down a rabbithole of what Helaena would read, my thoughts so far have wandered amongst a handful of world classics since they are pretty much the only books I read besides the asoiaf series and a classic especially an English one would go really well with the vibe of the fic. But I am open for ideas about ANY books so it doesn't really matter. I just want to see what other people think about the contents of Modern Helaena's library.

“We should be getting back to the party, you know.” She scolded lightly. Not being able to hide the smile that crept onto her face.

He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into a corner in the wall. He tipped his chin back and gave her a smirk, “Mm, yes, you might be right. But… I’m rather enjoying having you all to myself.”
“Wasn’t it your idea to throw the party?” She asked and Aegon trailed his fingers along her jaw. He gave a slight nod, “Yes. But now I regret it after seeing the way people have been gawking at you all evening.”
“Is that jealousy I’m hearing, husband?”
“Why should I be jealous? They can’t have you.”
