Thank you all for responding. I wanted to compare and contrast how vampires work in your different universes. I asked the question to all of you at the same time, because even though three of you have universes inspired by one another, I wanted to see if you would come up with different ideas.
If it is alright with all of you, I would like to do this again in the future. Focusing on aspects of vampiredom that aren't explored in any or most of your stories. Though, I will space them out, so I won't overload you.
If any of you want me to stop, I will stop. I could also add Cat & Mouse, since I believe it is in the same universe as Shattered, Kane & Jim, and MM/SS.

I've been making public awareness flyers for school, so I thought it would be fun to imagine the sort of posters that would be put up in a setting where vampire attacks were common.
How accurate are these statistics and how useful are these tips that humans have come up with? Who knows.... calling the line might also get you some misinformation, because it's very difficult to get good information due to the dearth of research on vampires, due to practical restrictions. (You'd need some sort of live test subject or something to get solid facts about them after all...)

@not-a-space-alien and i have recently finished our third crossover between K&J and MMSS! which crossover do you want to see for our fourth?
descriptions of each under the readmore! the first five are crossovers between Kane & Jim and Magnanimous Moonrise & Savage Sunset, and the last two are crossovers between Kane & Jim and Watch Your Step (with some MMSS cameo possibilities...)

Kane took Lex AU - ﾠAn AU where Kane abducted Lex instead of Jim. It starts at the same place where canon KJ starts, with Kane being picked up by his former victim. Features: Evil Ari, Kane ending up in a throuple with Jerome and Bailey
Arranged Marriage AU - AU where Valen was born into the Kithrara family, who decides an arranged marriage with the de Sang family would be beneficial. Kane and Valen are both undesirable nobility to be paired with, so the two families pair the spares. Features: Egg Valen, the MOST unhealthy marriage you’ve ever seen
Valen rescues Jim AU - Valen is out collecting mushrooms during the day when he stumbles across Jim mid-escape. Features: Two alternate endings, ValenxJim romance
Canon swap - Liz and Laken - Swapping Liz and Laken into the MMSS canon. Liz and Laken are the ones who are assigned to the hunt that ends with Valen being captured. Features: Laken dyes Valen's hair blue

K&J x MMSS Wolfwalkers AU bc I have brainrot
In this AU the boys are around 12 or so. Instead of being a hunter like Robyn, in this AU Valen is herbalist’s apprentice who wanders into the woods in search of ingredients and runs into Kane.
Kane has been alone with the pack for a while and is excited to meet someone who doesn’t threaten him with a crossbow.
I have some ideas of who their guardians could be and how it would change the dynamic between the town and the wolves, but I haven’t decided anything yet.

Our love will never grow old.
Summary: you and rocket have been together for four years now. He decides to spend sometime with you after almost dying.
warning: cussing , some drinking , spelling errors , fluff , Non-canon
Pairing: Rocket x GN!reader
You were doing some chores around your house. You know like cleaning , organizing , staring at a wall. You decided to do some work after. You were helping rocket with plans for the schools and such for the kids. The kids look up to you as a mother. They even call you mother in their language. You loved those kids dearly and they loved you.
You start some 2000s music since that was your shit. You laid the plans out and a note book , poured a glass of scotch and got to work. A hour later the song Umbrella by Rihanna comes on and somehow you began to think about how you and rocket met. You both met in prison, you got in for stealing some crystals to power a weapon you had made. You never knew how rocket got in he never told you.
You two ended up as cell mates and boy did you guys argue at first. Well more of he yelled and pissed him off more because you kept calm , you never yelled back and you just made snarky comment the whole time just to piss him off more. You were use to this because you apart of the avengers for sometime and became like daughter to Tony, so much so he adopted you because why not. After a while you were laying on the top bunk one night and just started talking to rocket. You told him you knew he came from the High Evolutionary and that you went there to. You were a study to them, they found out you couldnt die . They wanted to see how many thing you could survive and boy was it alot. You knew Lylla as soon as she was made. You had comforted her that night and made her feel better. You were only six at the time. Now you had told Lylla that she should pick a name and I gave her a couple names. She had picked Lylla and you always thought it was a gorgeous name. You eventually got tooken away once they found out how dangerous you actually were.
SInce then you and rocket became good friends and evetually became apart of the guardians. You guys didnt get together until you guys got kidnapped by the ravengers. You knew them to after being one of them for 4 years. It was after you left terran after being an avenger for 10 years. Yondu was like your space dad and quill was like your big brother. You and rocket have been through a roller coaster of emotions since then.
Suddenly avril lavgine came on and you began to think of when you almost lost rocket. You were so scared. You wouldnt leave his side until you all had to go save rockets life. You had stayed with him when quill and nebula went to go to the High Evolutionarys headquarters on counter earth. When you almost lost him your whole being changed in a second. It made you realise how much rocket has impacted your life.
You were pulled from your thoughts when your door opened. You turned to see your loving racoon. You smiled at him. " Hi love, what are you doing here so early? you normally come at night." He smiled alittle sighing. "Can a guy not take break erey once in a while?" You just playfully rolled your eyes and continue to work on the plans. " whatever you say."
He looked at you for a min and you could feel his eyes burning into the back of your head. You turn back to look at him, making direct eye contact. " Rocket are you ok ? youre acting alittle weird." He sighed " ya im alright, just alittle out a it , I did just almost die a few weeks ago." You hummed not believing him. You didnt like to push too much knowing he will get mad. But you felt like prodding so you did. " Fair but I know thats not it. Now come on rocket you can tell me. I wont make fun of you I swear."
He sighed dropping his head alittle. He knows better than to try and ignore you when youre like this. " I just mmss you mk." You stared at him. "you what?" He sighed " I jus' missed you mk" you smiled at him. " aww rocket I missed you too" you could see his lips curl alittle.
Its not often rocket is like this. You decided to enjoy this moment. You got up and walked over to him. He didnt move which was a good sign. You kissed the top of his head and hugged him. You prepared for him to try and back away but he didnt. Instead he leaned into your touch and nuzzled his head into your neck. You smiled as you held him closer. You backed away and put your hands on his face. He nuzzled his head into your hand. You giggled alittle at his action. After a while of this he closed the space between you with a kiss, in which you happily returned.
"I love you y/n." he said gazing into your eyes. You smiled even more" I love you too rocket." You both went and laid on the couch holding eachother until you both fell asleep.
It wasnt often that these moments happen but when they do , its glorious.

A Death in the Family
When his estranged father dies, Tristam, against his better judgement, attends the will reading, and ends up leaving with long-term bloodbag Sunday Afolayan and Eldrida, his father's former employee (and a terribly mistreated one at that, it turns out).
Even with Aileen and Evelyn's expert advice and friendship, it's tricky to bring Sunday back from the depths of his enthrallment, and Eldrida's struggling too. Six years under the cruel fist of Barnabas Sharpe was hard to survive.
It's a difficult recovery for both of them. But surely, things can't get worse now.
It's gotten more complicated (as these things always do), but the original plot was inspired by an anon ask that @whumpsday got forever ago. This series as a whole is heavily inspired by whumpsday, @not-a-space-alien @whumpshaped, and @oddsconvert vampire series (Kane and Jim, MMSS, At Your Beck and Call, and Shattered respectively) – go read them!

AU Summary for my Magic Madness Sadness AU (MMS AU)
This is MMSS (Magic Madness Sadness Simon) aka "Whitey"
He used to be just like canon AT Simon, but in this AU Golb didn't fully revert him back to normal, leaving behind a tiny, unstable bit of magic inside him which grows in strength over time in its attempt to stabilize itself.
At first it wasn't apparent that Simon still had any magic in him, but then the changes began...
After a dream in which Cosmic Owl appeared to him, Simon found himself able to fly again at random times.
Then his hair began to change color, bit by bit, until it was purely white once again.
His wizard eyes returned and became worse than ever before, showing him not only the creatures of the spirit realm, but also illusions of every kind and ever-changing colors to the point where he can't trust what he sees without someone else's confirmation.
Due to the rapid growth and unstable nature of Simon's leftover magic he finds it neigh impossible to control, which becomes a major problem once he develops his wind powers, accidentally causing tornadoes that grow in strength just as his magic does.
Simon is scared and constantly looking for a way to stop what's happening to him. He has no idea how far his changes will go, all he knows is that it's different than when he first changed into the Ice King and that only adds to his worries...
His teeth have grown sharp again...
He's losing his sanity, if not from MMS, then at least from what he's going through...
And if he doesn't figure out how to stop or control his powers soon, his tornadoes will eventually threaten to destroy all of Ooo...

FEBUWHUMP 2023 DAY 9 - Voice loss

You got a mute Whumpee on your hands, so what's next?
Depending on the reason why they remain silent (trauma, disfigurement during torture or even innate mutism/deafness) Caretaker has different options to interact, especially if they start out as an unaware stranger:

Non-Verbal communication:
Not just gestures or facial expression can convey Whumpee's current mood
Different sounds (e.g. humming) are often clear to everybody
The pitch or tone of these noises can indicate rejection or approval, up to requests for interaction → a curious trill can show their counterpart to continue talking
Written communication:
They just write down what they need, be it on a phone or a notepad
If you sprinkle a bit of a language barrier in there, it gets even better
Cards with pictures of everyday activities or objects. They shorten the time to write down and break any language barrier (a good example is the K&J x MMSS 2 crossover by @whumpsday and @not-a-space-alien)
Text-to-speech with short pre-programmed questions and answers for everyday living, therefore making responses quicker. It also teaches Whumpee to use technology → Whumpee can also customize their voice, thus getting used to "speaking" again
Sign language:
Caretaker and Whumpee can learn to use signs together and practice with each other
They can settle for ASL as a recognized and widely practiced language, visit local classes or make up their own signs if they don't have the options or the setting limits this accessibility
Bonus → Speech therapy:
A bonding moment for Whumpee and Caretaker
BUT also a root for lots of angst and anger, e.g. Whumpee being frustrated with their (lack of) progress and getting upset

Ok so in the MMSS crossovers vampires can use persuasion through eye contact or writing, how does it work in your canon
Adding to my last ask, i know theres things different in your canon than crossovers bc the artificial blood Valen was making and Celeste being a turned vampire are things that couldn't exist in the K&J verse alone from what ive seen
yes! the crossover with celeste is definitely hugely different lore because @wolfeyedwitch has totally different vampire lore than i do, so we mushed them together.
the mmss crossover is a lot less noticeable, since it takes place in the same universe as k&j with some slight modifications. like imagine miles's world and gwen's world from spiderverse: basically the same in the grand scheme of things, but things are just a little off!
differences between persuasion in k&j canon vs mmss canon afaik, @not-a-space-alien feel free to weigh in:
in k&j, all vampires capable of using persuasion can hypnotize a human with just a look (and can work even if the vampire can't see), though the vampire needs to be able to communicate in order for the human to follow commands. in mmss, a command of some kind is needed to activate persuasion unless a vampire is very, very talented with persuasion and can do so with eye contact alone, though most (such as valen) are not.
in k&j, writing would feasibly be a possible form of issuing commands, but only while a human is already under persuasion. in mmss, a vampire can write a message out and have that activate persuasion in a short period of time.
in k&j, most vampires can only hypnotize one human at a time, unless they are extremely talented like bellamy, which is very rare. in mmss, i believe it's more common to be able to hypnotize multiple humans at once.
in k&j, humans under persuasion always feel content, like everything's fine, and feel a desire to follow the orders they're given. in mmss, humans under persuasion are capable of feeling distress, and are aware of their body moving to follow orders they don't want to follow.
