An AU where only extremely powerful beings, like Alicorns and Draconequis, can get cutie marks or similar markings on their bodies. Twilight Sparkle getting a mark after her magical surge is taken much more seriously, especially for a filly of her age.

Optional addition: due to being created by Twilight's magic during such a strong power surge, Spike is also covered in markings. Ones very similar to Twilight's due to their connection. It is at first thought that he is a being to work under Twilight like a magical familiar. But as he grew, it became clear he was more than just a magical construct and a full fledged Dragon. He is his own being with his own powerful magic due to his birth. Spike dislikes many Canterlot ponies do to them treating him like a magical familiar instead of as his own being. Twilight herself wasn't afraid to show her dislike of ponies mistreating Spike. She's gotten into fights over it.

The other main six also have markings, ones that are easier to miss than Twilight's and Spikes. Except Rainbow Dashes, hers are mistaken as magical scars caused by the Sonic rainboom she accomplished. Lightning bolts running up and down her legs and wings. And then there's Pinkie Pie, others honestly are convinced she just paints on her markings every morning. She doesn't confirm or deny it, her markings are easy to mistake as body paint. Multiple balloon and streamer shaped markings in multiple swirling patterns are on her. Her hair looks like it's filled with glitter, others also assume she just puts glitter in her hair. It's Pinkie Pie after all!

Dragons are one of the most variable creatures in the world. Individuals are shaped not by genetics, but by their environment and what they want out of life.

Baby dragons can remain in their young form for decades, if the environment isn't right for them to mature. Intense competition, lack of resources, or uncertain emotional development are all reasons for a baby dragon to delay their adult molt.

Once circumstances are right, an intense period of growth begins, and a dragon can multiply its size and sprout new features such as wings in just a few short years.

Pubescent dragons need a huge amount of food (including gem minerals) to sustain their growth. In the dragon lands, this can lead to competition, toughening up a young dragon to face a world of challenges.

Not everything is about fighting tooth and nail. Dragons raised in more cooperative societies are often softer, with less need to develop armor and weaponry. However, if their society faces constant threats, even the softest, kindest dragons will bulk up into formidable creatures in order to defend the ones they love. These individuals are difficult to provoke, easy to make peace with, but impossible to beat once you've threatened their family.

An AU where Draconequis are (usually) very ancient dragons that have absorbed large amounts of environmental magic. What happens when a dragon is born in large amounts of magic and absorbs that as a result. Celestia is confused by Spike being born a Draconequis, Twilight Sparkle is thrilled to have a new baby brother even if she accidentally hatched him herself. Spike is trained alongside Twilight Sparkle by Celestia, Spike being the first Draconequis to have pure magic as his element type do to his strange birth and upbringing.

Optional addition- Discord has always lived in the chaotic Ever free forest, for as long as he can remember. Before ponies ever got to what is now called Equestria. He enjoyed their presence though, he's never really gotten an excuse to use his chaotic powers to their fullest. He didn't expect being turned into stone however. At least he struck a cool pose before hand. When free he is confused at seeing the tiny draconequis named Spike, it was never thought a draconequis could be born and only created over thousands of years of time. He is however thrilled, because it means that they can't necessarily turn him back into stone. He is the best being to teach the young draconequis about magic Celestia and Twilight were unable to teach him, things exclusive to draconequis like them. They are forced to tolerate his presence, how fun! He does wish that they wouldn't always wear their fancy magic tree jewelry. He's promised to not cause too much chaos, hasn't he?

Guys I just had a thought, why has nobody done this yet-

..I’m..not making one because god forbid I have another au to make content for but.. an idea.. what if the sirens returned.. what if they won.

Or just a simple what if they returned anyhow.. debating (I used twilight as a base, just to get the point across so I wouldn’t say this is definitively what she’d look like but you feel me right?)

I could see an apocalyptic scenario with them, because think of it like this,

It’s a quiet place, but YOU have the block your ears out instead of being quiet, for hearing the sirens call will infect your mind with brainless malice and hatred.. violence. You’re either caught in the wind of the beastly creature’s voices or you’re killed by those who were. The only way to avoid them is to block it out, at all costs.. rip your ears out if you have to.
