[EDIT: Didn't realize I posted here instead of my other tumblr] Normally I avoid posting Fancharacter AUs here, especially since they’re low effort. But then that would mean Unexpectables Sketchdumps should be here. So screw it. It’s going to be cringey as heck, but I’m feeling dangerous to try posting it here.
More from the “Stranger Things” AU for Ducktales/Darkwing. It’s mostly doodles of Jim adjusting his life around Miyu as a single-father. And some cute DrakeMiyu moments. Like I mentioned in the first batch, he gets some help & advice from Mss. Mallard and his past co-stars from the Darkwing cast. Warning for long description below.
I envisioned a scene where Miyu is preparing to give respect to her mother. Sadly all she has are the urn of Lucia’s ashes and a framed photo. Jim joins in to provide emotional support, especially after the recent revelation of how Lucia was murdered in an attempt to abduct Miyu. Jim offers a promise to look after Miyu, since he feels guilty for how Lucia got ill in the first place. His selfishness was a slow build to Lucia’s unwarranted demise. To his surprise, he gets a spiritual glimpse of Lucia and Miyu’s birth mother. Both giving Jim their gratitude and blessings to watch over Miyu.
Miyu and Drake would exchange letters often, but over time Miyu would start getting creative with sending them faster. She begins to experiment with making talismans in hopes of perfecting communication with her friends in St.Carnard. She’d have some problems acclimating to a normal school environment, since she’s had little to none after her mother’s death. It’s hard to concentrate when you’re actively ignoring the presence of school ghosts. Miyu’s presence attracts all manner of supernatural to her and Jim’s house. So she’s gotten good practice at warding away the unfriendly ones. Jim had to learn to live with Miyu’s menagerie of bats, spiders, yokai, foxes and Enfields.
Like mentioned in the initial concept, Jim swallowed his pride and went with small gig roles to pay the bills. So he’d play as an extra, supporting role, or antagonist roles. But he finds that his efforts are worth it since Miyu always tries to visit him on set with home-made bento and encouragement. He was able to make an effort to improve after Miyu gives her opinion of how every role is essential and important for a story. I wanted to draw Jim struggling with chopping veggies while Miyu is coaching him. She is lucky to have access to ghosts who were cooks.  Even if one of them was a failed tv chef. Due to Miyu’s early presence, Drake and Elmo are fans of anime and manga much earlier. Miyu and Jim visit St. Canard every fall for Halloween. Their 2nd Halloween became just as fun as their first. Drake got into ninjas and eventually decided to combine his favorite things into 1. Miyu went as a kitsune Miko priestess to respect Inari, and in case the spookies decide to act up. The tail and ears are fake. She won’t get them back until later teens. Elmo will dress as his favorite inventor/engineer from the recent “Final Reverie” JRPG franchise.  Jim feels betrayed that one of his biggest fans would DARE consider dressing as something other than Darkwing. He’ll get over it eventually. Because Drake ends up going pseudo-Darkwing, or dress as something else. Tastes and interests change with age and time, after all.
Miyu and Drake’s relationship would start as best friends, but it would grow into romance entering highschool. And like any typical father, Jim will be overprotective of Miyu, despite the fact that he knows Drake and has no reason to distrust him. Jim’s outfit has changed compared to his usual. As mentioned, Miyu’s presence attracts all manner of supernatural to her. Jim did a lot of ghost and monster fighting to protect Miyu. So he always wears certain jackets or clothes that Miyu has charmed and can hide a set of silver knuckle dusters. Drake takes all of Jim’s interrogating with good humor and truly admires Jim’s indiscriminate scrutiny of anyone dating Miyu. Jim has actually been perfecting his DM skills over the years. He once got a SNL-type gig playing the role of an ornery, petty DM in a D&D skit. It was either him DMing on live tv for a short-running campaign series with Drake, Elmo, and Miyu as main cast. Or maybe Drake, Elmo still wanted to campaign during college, despite their long distance. They campaign via group vid-chat & Jim is all onboard for starting anew. They start recording their sessions just for fun to share their adventures. Drake and Launchpad meet much earlier than cannon and soon he joins the campaign.

Someone liked a fashion tweet on my twitter dashboard, and I really liked it. The outfits were quite classy/sharp looking, and I felt the urge to draw some of my OCs in those 4 outfits. What was meant to be quick doodles, turned into clean sketches.  Feel free to continue reading for character tidbits
1) Valerie- long ago when “Star vs the Forces of Evil” finished season 1, I created a fan-character. Changed her name from Valentine to Valerie.
2) Ethelmay- for some reason I thought of drawing Ethelmay as some were-rat. I don’t think this will be a thing in the future, but that’s my stab at Ethelmay as a rat. By the way, Ethelmay is going to have a haircut in the future.
3) Ducksonas- My first concept for a Morgana character was someone with ties to the original Morgana Actress, and became the villainess “Red Maho” Rei is in Harajuku fashion, cuz she originally came from there, and she sure likes to be a rebel. The Miyu Moreno on the right is from my “Stranger Things” AU. This version of Miyu wouldn’t become evil, and she’d find Drake Mallard much earlier.
4) Kanamo- REALLY old OC. Don’t know what I really want to do with her. But I think she’d be great if I ever get into D&D or any role-playing game. She went through a few changes, so did her familiar.

Mishiranu Mono
Mishiranu Mono - part 1 ?
(i don’t know if op would be ok with me continuing, but i would like too if they let me)
Darkwing Duck au inspired by @inyuji and this  post
[I fell in love with their art and idea for this au and it had such a beautiful story, and wonderful detail I had to write something.]
The night was cold, wind flapping, with foreboding terror. The moon was full and trees rustled with hard snaps, bending and twisting with night air. The dim light of the moon covered the empty street, or rather mostly empty. At the end of a quiet street just before the end of town was a small figure moving in the jagged shadows of the line up houses. The small figure moved in the night scuffling from house to house with footsteps as quiet as a gentle wind that would hit ones cheek on a summers day. The figure moved closer to a house and moved along its edge and hid below the light of the window that cast itself through thin kitchen curtains, the small figure moved beyond the lights yellow gaze and moved deeper into the shadows. The figure moved its hands to the top of a trash can lid and slowly placed their tiny fingers under it, then with the lightest of touches moved the lid upward and into the air.
‘Drake, honey have you put the garbage bin on the curve yet.’
A voice called from inside the window, light footsteps came past the window and a door creep open an amber glow hit the grass and the shadowy figure moved away into the darkness dropping the lid behind it.
‘Doing it now Mom.’
The voice called from the door-frame and the bright figure stepped onto the grass. it was a small boy on older then 13, he looked over into the darkness and walked towards it. The darkened figure pushed deeper into the dark but pulled there hand up like they were ready to push the boy away, but the boy had only taken a few steps before he bent down and pit up the garbage lid.
‘Damn wind.’
the boy then put the lid back on the can and dragged it to the street. The boy then stood there for a moment as he looked at the moon, he then stretched out his arms flapped then up and down slowly, he was saying something but it was lost to the wind. The boy then looked at his watch and jumped slightly and he ran back to the house.
‘It’s on, it’s on, it’s on.’
he then shut the door behind him and locked it with a clack, returning to the light he had walked out of. when his footsteps had left the kitchen. the small shadowy figure moved into the yellow glow.
A young girl no older then the boy she had raven black hair that went to her shoulders, it was uneven and looked like it been cut with garden sheers, she had bloodshot eyes and deep black bags under her eyes. She moved her face out of the light as quickly as she came into it, she then quickly and quietly moved back into the hollowing night.
the wind fell and the morning came and the sun lit up the streets. Out front of the the house closest to the hill side, was the young boy pulling his bike to the concentrate. The boy hummed the same tune over and over with word’s like ‘Darkwing’ and ‘lets get dangerous’ came whispering out on occasion. The boy rode his bike down the street and to the school. This ride took the boy about one hour every morning but he insisted on doing it everyday rain or shine. he believed if he could handle the ride there then everything else his school day had in store for him would be easy by comparison, and sometimes he was right, but today much like many other day’s it was only the beginning.
When Drake chained up his bike and run into class he heard Tommy Michel, talking to a group of gathered class mates.
‘It was a voice, it spoke in some kind of gibberish, must have been a kind of ghost language, and, and, I think it started singing.’
Tommy spat out these words theatrically as the small group pondered his words.
‘No way, you full of it Tommy.’
said a red headed girl.
‘Nah, nah I heard it, it was super creepy.’
she shook her heard at this.
‘There is no way, you, got close enough to hear it.’
some of the group nodded.
‘Yeah your way to much of a wuss for that.’
laughed out Herb Muddlefoot, a rather large and tall boy who was twice as big and wide as Drake.
Drake moved to his desk and took off his hat and turned his whole body to the boy next to him, who was drawing lighting bolts on his desk.
‘Hey, Elmo, what are they taking about?’
‘The weird house on the hill, Tommy kicked a ball over the fence yesterday, and he climbed over to get it, said he heard a voice inside the place, whole lot of bunk if you ask me.’
Elmo kept scribbling on his desk, Drake looked over to the small group again, Amy Foxwell, twitched her nose.
‘He’s right, something is in there, I can see the hill from my house. And the other night I looked out my window and i saw a whole bunch of strange lights, they were coming from inside the house.’
The group draw in closer together but Drake and Elmo could still hear everything their were saying.
‘Really, what did they look like?’
asked Herb suddenly a lot more invested, Amy took a moment.
‘like, like, shiny smoke. i don’t know.’
Tommy started waving his hands.
‘See, see, the place is hunted.’
Look’s of agreement went around the class room. Elmo leaned over so that only Drake could hear him.
‘Don’t you think it’s really hunted?’
Drake pondered this, then shrugged.
‘Doesn't matter, I’m not worried, it can’t hurt anyone and I’m not scared of ghosts.’
Drake nodded to himself, Elmo shook his head.
‘Dingus, you really do have some kind of death wish or something.’
Elmo then muttered something that sounded like idiot and went back to drawing.
Elmo Sputterspark was the closet thing Drake had to a friend, they were both seen as the class ‘weirdos’ but they weren’t to keen on each other either but they were both smart enough to know there was safety in numbers. So it was kind of a making do situation.
Drake found that he was not fully understood by other kids around him, they called him names and pushed him down everyday but he always got back up, and they would keep pushing, waiting for the day he would stay down, but it never came. It had become a game of sorts, who can keep Drake down the longest.
Drake then made his way into his school day being pushed into walls, slammed into floors and being called many things under hushed tones. When the day was done he set off on his long ride home and on his way he came across a small group in the distance, they were near the house on the hill.
The house on the hill has been abandoned for years now. The grass was so over grown that it reached up to Drake’s shoulder’s, the house itself was run down as rotting wood caved in. The place had been like this as long as Drake could remember, but recently it was more talkative or at least if Tommy Michel is to be believed.
Tommy Michel was standing in front of the old, beaten in fence as a group of boy’s stood in a circle, they seemed to be throwing something between themselves. Then Drake spotted Elmo running between the other boy’s trying to grab the object, Drake rode his bike over and jumped off his bike.
‘Hey! what you doing.’
Drake said announcing himself.
‘None of your business, Mallard.’
Herb (of course it was Herb) throw then what appeared to be Elmo’s bag to Tommy. The boy’s kept laughing and throwing the bag. Drake pushed himself into the middle.
‘Quit it, give it back.’
Drake was always ready for a fight, and they knew that. So, Herb know he had to think fast.
‘Ok, Drakestar you want it, go get it.’
Herb then spun the bag around and throw it as hard and as fast as he could at the house and it broke through an upstairs window, The boy’s then went away laughing and left Drake and Elmo standing there.
‘Gee, thanks.’
Drake looked over to Elmo.
‘They would have just gotten bored like usual if you hadn't put your big beak where it doesn't belong.’
Drake shook his head.
‘You have got to start standing up for yourself, or their just going to walk all over you.’
‘They walk all over me now! and they walk all over you too, and I don’t get as beaten up as you.’
Drake just sighed, if Elmo didn’t get it there was no use explaining.
‘My Dad’s gonna kill me, that’s the third bag this year.’
‘It’ll be fine Elmo, i’ll get it.’
‘Are you crazy!?’
‘No why?’
Elmo gave him a familiar sigh.
‘Suit yourself, but I’m going home.’
Elmo walked off in a huff, Drake looked upon the house and craned his neck up. It was taller then he thought, but, he was going to get Elmo’s bag back, ghost or no ghost. Drake took off his cap and put it in his bag he didn’t want any spider web’s or dust all over his favourite Darkwing Duck hat, he then weaved his way through the broken fence and into the garden. He stepped through the grass, it was so thick he could hardly walk in it, but as he got about six steps in he tripped. Drake landed face first on the hard ground, he had found himself in a clearing of sorts. Little trails were made in the grass that lead to and from the front door, you could only see them from the inside, Drake got up and slowly moved to the door.
He crept into the house as quietly as he could, the floor creaked with every step, the wind hollowed into his ears, sending a chill down and through his whole body, he looked around the room it was dusty and smelled like mildew. He paced his why to the stairs humming the tune that he hummed earlier that day, it seemed to have given courage as he made his way up the crumbling stairs. It was to dark to see in front or behind him, the wind was whistling in his ears louder now, but there was no windows or door’s open in the hall way, he felt something brush up against his foot, he let out a yelp as he jumped into the air breaking a floorboard under him. He looked around for a moment as he pulled his foot out of the hole he had made, he saw a light flickering under a door at the end of the hall. It did not look like someone was turning a light switch on and off but more like pulse like what ever it was, had been fading in and out. Drake got his foot out of the hole and moved to the pulsing light. He moved his hand to the door and turned the handle, pushing the door open and walking in. the room was empty and there was no sign of the light like it was never there. Drake let out a breath and turned back to the hall,
‘Yours’
A high scratchy voice said behind him. Drake snapped his head back to see two glowing eyes looking back at him.
to be continued?

Don’t know how much more ducks I wanna draw. For now, I wanted to get this out of the way. This is dubbed the “Stranger Things” AU, where Miyu Moreno met Drake as young teens, but under bad circumstances. Basically Drake and his classmate Elmo Sputterspark befriend Miyu and dub themselves the “Weirdo Club.” And they just enjoy an entire autumn doing fun shenanigans while trying to find leads to Miyu’s possible relatives. WARNING: LONG story description. Read at your own peril
Miyu’s adoptive mother, Lucia Moreno, did not survive the risky operation to cure her illness. This left Miyu an orphan, and unable to look after herself. What’s worse was being secretly watched by strange people who claimed “child services.” The spirits and yokai warned her of the shady government agents. Out of desperation and fear, Miyu snuck out of Japan to America when she was thirteen, hoping to find any relatives who could take her in. Unfortunately she was still being tracked by the shady agents, so she ran and hid as far as she could. She stayed hidden, barely surviving in a rumored “haunted house,” in the homely town of St. Canard.
Young teen Drake Mallard would brave his way into the haunted house to retrieve his classmate’s bag, which was maliciously disposed by some schoolyard bullies. That’s how he stumbles into a half-starved Miyu, and a bunch local ghosts and a few yokai. Drake barely understood Miyu’s plight, but decided to visit her and help. While trying to teach Miyu with English, Drake discovered some untranslated and translated manga at his local bookstore, and used these as a teaching aid for Miyu and himself. Drake has been introduced to Anime much earlier and now has even more things to nerd over. Our boi is dorkier than ever and I don’t regret a thing.
Over a month, his classmate noticed something was up with Drake. They are not friends, but they are friendly to each other. Drake decided to trust Elmo on his secret, and soon Elmo became part of the “weirdo” club. Miyu would mostly stay hidden, but she occasionally pops out in public when she’s dragged to movies or possible school events. They did share a very awesome Halloween. Drake and Elmo would research possible leads to Lucia Moreno’s relatives or any past work acquaintances. Miyu would try to dreg up clues or help from the local spirits also. At some point, Drake’s mother found out about Miyu when she came home early from shopping and caught Drake trying to smuggle in Miyu to his house. After getting an explanation, she decided to let Miyu stay, though she really wants to alert authorities about the “runaway child.” She does see how Miyu is deadly scared of any “bad men” finding out, since a few had posed as government workers.
The shady agents from Japan have tracked Miyu down, and it’s revealed that they are Onmyoji hunting down Miyu for her magic. Drake and Miyu hastily embark on a road trip to flee from the Onmyojis and seek out the past Darkwing actors. With Elmo occasionally guiding them via radio and Miyu’s helpful spirits, they are able to visit the main Darkwing villain actors and ask about Lucia. While they have good things to say about her brief time on the show, they do not know much about Lucia’s family or if she even had family here. During their biking trip, they befriend a stray Grim, who has kept stealthy vigil over Drake and Miyu. When they finally meet Jim Starling, they are given even more disappointing news. Jim was really shocked that Lucia had adopted a kid during her time recovering and feels guilty about Miyu being an orphan. Jim lies about not knowing Lucia much, not wanting to reveal that his dangerous stunts were the cause of Lucia being injured during set, resulting in her damaging her voice and falling ill. Rather than risk the show being cancelled, Jim had suggested to the writers and producers to drop Lucia from the show. Drake is a bit hesitant to believe that this acting hero is lying, when all the other actors remember Lucia. Miyu has practically given up when their final lead knows nothing.
The Darkwing actors had actually met up shortly at Jim’s signing to ask if he had met Drake and Miyu. They are concerned that two kids are trekking a long way, and hope to rectify their poor judgment of letting the kids go on their merry way. They are disappointed that Jim had practically lied to a bunch of kids, knowing that he too knew Lucia during the short time on set. At that moment, the 2 Onmyojis start interrogating the crew, claiming they are investigators looking for 2 runaway children. One of them however, is pissed and hates dealing with the “normies.” The actors deny knowing where the kids went, and Jim lies though his teeth that the kids probably hit the bus to the next town. When the Onmyojis leave, everyone is officially freaking out. All of the actors are calling the cops and contacting old colleagues who had worked on the Darkwing production. Jim is too freaked out to do anything and doesn’t want to get involved.
When the Onmyojis finally catch up to Miyu and Drake, Drake was almost killed. Witnessing this caused Miyu to awaken her Kitsune blood. Miyu’s real mother was a kitsune, which has given her a sixth sense for the supernatural and magic. Jim Starling had stumbled on this fight while on his way home, and attempted to help. He was easily subdued and injured in the process. After Miyu maliciously subdued all yokai shikigamis (onmyoji summons) and the 2 Onmyojis, the police and paramedics were able to come in time. Drake is diagnosed to be in coma, with low chances of waking up, and this breaks Miyu. Jim feels terrible that he was practically useless and that he was the reason that Lucia was ill and had to seek treatment, which ultimately killed her. Drake’s mother is wracked with grief, but she doesn’t blame Miyu, seeing how much Miyu blames herself. During the fight with the Onmyojis, they reveal that they had sabotaged the operation that would supposedly cure Lucia’s illness. They wanted Miyu easily vulnerable to induct her into their ranks as an Onmyoji in their organization. Miyu blames her existence and her magic for hurting people around her. Out of desperation, Miyu consulted whatever yokai friends for a solution, and prays for Inari, the Kami closely related to Kitsune and possibly the Kami her kitsune mother had served. Inari appears as a spectral apparition and warns Miyu that she will weaken in magic, even with Inari’s help. Miyu doesn’t care for magic anymore. Drake finds himself in a spectral limbo and told about the plight happening in the living realm. Drake doesn’t want Miyu to sacrifice her magic for him, and stubbornly makes his way towards a gateway back to the living, but with great difficulty.
Drake still has to stay hospitalized, but he only needs to heal from a broken arm, and surprisingly, his skull has recovered nicely. Miyu’s magic has been sapped near dry, so all proficiency she had gained is back to level 0. However, Miyu would still have to be processed into Foster Care. There is no guarantee that Miyu will find a stable place to keep in contact with Drake through long-distance letters. Jim had talked a bit with Miyu, asking about her life with Lucia. Wanting to appease his guilt and truly being sorry for Miyu, he manages to take in Miyu as his foster child. He wants to give Miyu a stable home so she can keep consistent correspondence with Drake and Elmo.
Miyu and Jim are able to visit St. Canard every month, especially during school vacation breaks. This gives the kiddies a chance to continue on their Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Jim has started to get the hang of being their Dungeon Master. Now that Jim is a foster father, slowly becoming an adoptive father, he bites down his pride and takes any small gigs to pay bills. But this has been good for him. He’s slowly gaining momentum as an actor, though nothing too noteworthy. Miyu is quite proud of Jim doing his best, and always makes it a routine to pack a bento for him. She finds every chance to personally bring it to him. Over time, Miyu has regained her proficiency in magic in her late teenage years. Jim has been getting good support and contact with his old DW crew, and some parenting advice from Mss. Mallard. Drake has been taking good care of the Grim, who is now lovingly named “Kage.” When Miyu is in her teenage years, Jim is actually nailing a lot more Duckflix gigs who have taken some note of Jim’s improving repertoire. It also helps that he’s become less of a jerk.

OMG I don’t know why I started adding more sketches. Anyway, this is my take on “Morgana Macawber” in the Ducktales 2017 verse. Honestly, it’s just another fancharacter haha. Meet Miyu Moreno, a pretty well-known voice actress, who likes to pick on Drake Mallard whenever she him near her work studio. But on some nights, she dons the mask of “Red Mugen.”
At first I wanted to just call her “Morgan,” but that was too obvious. Instead, I had a good idea of having her related to the original “Morgana” actress. Miyu isn’t too malicious or goes out of her way to ruin Drake’s day. In fact, she minds her own business and only interacts with co-workers when it’s absolutely needed. For some reason she likes to go out of her way to greet Drake if she ever spots him near her work place. She doesn’t actively hunt him down just to slap him with a “Hey Dorkus!” She doesn’t realize that she has a Tsundere complex going on there ^^ Miyu doesn’t like the “live” acting business, since a whole lot of it depends on physical appearances than actual talent (in her opinion and personal experiences). However, she found great pleasure in the voice-acting industry. She started off in radio commercials, then worked her way up to landing major parts in the tripple-A video game industry and animation. Miyu is put off by Drake’s unwavering determination and enthusiasm for whatever stunt-double roles he can find in action films, and believes he’s wasting his time and talent where it’s taken for granted. Frankly, she thinks he deserves better, especially since she sees herself in his shoes.
Her villain/ anti-hero alias is Red Mugen, because Mugen in Japanese can refer to “infinity” or “without limit.” Red Mugen is crafty and mischievous, and unpredictable with her schemes. One night she’s willing to turn a whole apartment complex into a Yokai sub-haven, the next time she’s stealing ancient artifacts from a newly found imperial tomb, and then she’s playing cat-and-mouse games with Darkwing by baiting him with hostages. Darkwing is always put on edge around her and hasn’t been successful in catching her. He can never tell what Red Mugen’s end goals are. Her motives are constantly shifting. Their first encounter, she was all too happy to kill him. The next encounters resorted to poison or painfully maiming. It always shifted between, murdering him, seductively teasing or playing him, attempts to stealing his soul, or rarely helping him. It doesn’t help that she openly flirts with him, just for the sadistic pleasure of getting under his skin and throwing him off-kilter. Fanfic writers have had a field day with the crack-shipping of MugenWing (all due to a certain die-hard Darkwing Fanfic writer).
As for her connection to “Morgana Macawber,” Miyu was actually adopted by Lucia Moreno, the actress who played “Morgana” for a very short time on the old “Darkwing” show. When Lucia was given the part as “Morgana,” she was on the moon believing that this was a big step forward in her acting career. However, due to the “dangerous” stunts and scenes that were insisted by Jim Starling (smoke, or dangerous fumes, or fire is involved), Lucia was lucky to survive mostly intact. But her voice suffered for it. Her voice was her greatest asset, so losing that was a huge blow to her career. Also, the lingering effects from that accident would prevent her from healing fast enough to even pursue other gigs. A mute actor probably doesn’t get around much in the industry back then. Due to the fast-paced scheduling, the Morgana character was written out, instead of being a frequent character.
After surviving an accident on set, but also having her acting career cut short, Lucia travelled abroad to recover. She started healing while living temporarily in Japan. There she met a wild, yet gloomy child playing with flickers of bright lights. Miyu was considered a problematic orphan, due to her sixth sense, wild claims of seeing creatures or ghosts, and her budding powers in magic. One day Lucia saw her, and instantly fell in love with the strange child. Soon they became family. Lucia found great happiness with being a mother to a child with magical powers. Miyu in return would never forget the love and acceptance that Lucia had given her, while everyone else feared her, or wrote her off as a lost cause. So it was unfortunate when her beloved mother died during a failed operation. Lucia had loved singing, especially with her daughter. Unfortunately, her body was growing ill and her voice hadn’t healed fully. When Miyu started showing great promise in performing arts and as a singer, Lucia wanted to do everything she could to support Miyu’s dreams. In hopes of recovering and hoping to get back into acting to inspire Miyu and to financially support her, Lucia sought experimental treatment in Japan, but she didn’t make it. Miyu was forever heart-broken and never fully healed from her loss.
In hopes of moving on, she tried to pursue her dream as an actress and moved to America, but she struggled and found a lot of downsides to the industry. She struggled working part-time jobs while acting at a local theater and improving her English. It didn’t help that she didn’t have a high-school diploma in America, and was solely home-schooled by Lucia. While Miyu had a small inheritance after Lucia’s death, she refused to rely on it, saving it for life-crisis emergencies. Thankfully she found some voice gigs in commercials within months of reaching fluency in English. Later on, she’ll try to look up her mother’s acting career, and that’s when she finds out about the cause of Lucia’s illness, and eventual death.
To this day, she has festered a deep hatred for anything “Darkwing Duck” related. She blames the show for causing the death of her mother. To find out that an actual “Darkwing Duck” is emerging in the hero scene, is what pushed her to becoming “Red Mugen.” Her attitude towards Darkwing has been undecided, and changed with each encounter. Once she wanted to see nothing but some glory-obsessed wannabe playing hero, but with each encounter and news bite, she grudgingly respects his altruistic spirit and unwavering determination to never give up.

I’ve been sitting on these sketches for over a month, now it’s the perfect time to clean and color some of them. Some I had to completely redraw. This is an AU for my character “Miyu Moreno.” This is an AU where Lucia Moreno , Morgana actress, adopted Miyu, but moved immediately back to the U.S; specifically in St. Canard. “Red String” is an AU where Drake Mallard & Miyu Moreno grow up as childhood friends, and eventually sweethearts.
Keep in mind these are very early concepts, so I was struggling with drawing  young Drake based on the “comicbook” flashback about his lunchbox. Also, I’m still wobbling between making Lucia a duck or a Macaw. Miyu would be struggling with her English, so she’d have a hard time fitting in. Doesn’t help that she doesn’t get easily creeped out by bugs, snakes, or frogs. Heck she made some bat friends and a rather big spider. That and her magic powers acting up during intense emotions and stress. Thankfully Drake is more than wiling to take on danger and just being a good friend.
Drake and Miyu would get into a lot of odd supernatural shenanigans. Miyu attracts monsters & old ghosts that she & Drake kinda end up solving or reviving dead/cold cases. Perhaps their quaint little neighborhood has a lot of unresolved dark mysteries. Their parents have gotten so used to seeing household objects float, or seeing the occasional yokai or Nisse (house sprites) or whatever critters that follow them home. Though sometimes Drake and Miyu don’t always get out their adventures unscathed. There are a lot of vengeful spirits, or people who don’t want old bones dug out.
at one time for their first Christmas, they wanted to surprise their mothers with a gingerbread house. Blatant “Chowder” reference. A lot of gingerbread was burnt or liquefied.
In high school, those 2 would be drama club members, while pursuing their own extracurricular hobbies. For now, Drake learns Martial Arts and he was a Junior Woodchuck. He picked up guitar so he can accompany Miyu when she’s singing. Miyu has taken classical dance and Ballet, fencing, and classical singing. One day when the school talent show was announced, their other friends already had plans, with the assumption that Drake & Miyu would’ve had plans. While brainstorming, they noticed an old historical kdrama playing at their local video rental store. Then they heard a song being played and rented the tape for the music video to study. They choreograph their own dance to that song, while wanting to stay close to the theme of that music video. Their performance went well, too well. During the time practicing and during the show, a lot of strange feelings came up, feeling that they thought were dealt with long ago. Even when young, they had questioned whether if their affections were platonic or bordering romantic. Now, high school is WORST time to bring up all those long-forgotten questions.
For reference on the inspiration for their dance it’s 인년 (FATE) by Lee Sun Hee, performed by 엔 (N)

Guess who's a "Cats Don't Dance" fan? THIS GAL!
But back to normal cannon timeline where Miyu starts off as a villain (though I still have so much Red String content to draw)
This is basically Drake and Miyu co-leading in a movie production similar to "Cats Don't Dance."
I'd like to think Drake doesn't give up on his acting career, and actually lands a lucky break when they're auditioning for singing, dancing actors.
I don't know fully well what the premise would be for this movie production, since there are no humans in this duckverse. So maybe it's something close to "Footloose" or takes place in an alternate timeline where certain species are more dominant and in charge in the movie industry.
To Drake's surprise, he finds his frenemy Miyu Moreno there. The same Miyu that always looked at "live" actors with disdain.
During the audition, Drake is in awe at the grace and talent that Miyu displays as a dancer and a singer. He's rather shocked when Miyu doesn't make the cut, while he does.
When he asks the casting director and the actual director about their decision, he gets miffed on Miyu's behalf. Despite how much Miyu may have bad-mouthed Drake, she genuinely looked resigned and disappointed in not being picked. Apparently, they don't think the female lead being taller than Drake (the male lead) would look good. Drake of course puts away his enmity for Miyu to show that he has no problem co-leading with Miyu. And of course, Drake and Miyu's playful, teasing interactions bleed through in their dancing and improv. The director is instantly impressed and taken with the two.
Honestly those 2 ALMOST fit the roles of danny and Sawyer. Drake isn't naive, but he's clearly more optimistic and determined to see his dream come true. Miyu is jaded and disillusioned with Hollywood in general.
Over the long production time, Miyu will share about her initial dreams of being an actress. She had gotten into voice acting instead once she saw how difficult it was to find any part, and how much more talent was emphasized in the voice industry. Miyu mentions that she had wanted to be an actress just like her late mother.
The bit with them taking a water break with the "Darla Dimple" actress was something I wanted to draw. After the infamous "outburst" scene, they take break so "Darla" can rest her aching throat. Miyu, being a professional, would give Darla tips on better handling and taking care of her voice. Then that would lead to Darla finding out that Miyu plays the popular game protagonist "Commander Maelstrom," and fangirl for a while.
Drake would sort of see bits of Miyu's more pleasant personality, and get a somewhat strained explanation from Miyu of WHY she tormented him.
Drake doesn't know how to feel about getting friendlier towards his frenemy. Miyu doesn't outright bully Drake, but she's quite pessimistic and cynical and likes making digs at Drake's "nonexistent" career. Occasionally, she likes to troll Drake by wearing a Gizmoduck shirt, JUST to spite Drake (she's apathetic to Gizmoduck as well). But rarely does Miyu ever make outright mean or hurtful attacks at Drake. Drake is starting to actually enjoy Miyu's company and rather dark humor. When asking Launchpad if it's too weird, Launchpad sees this as a good thing. He doesn't seem to think Miyu is an outright mean person despite the occasional digs that Miyu made at him. Plus, Launchpad finds this ironically funny: Drake Mallard is slowly getting along with his "frenemy," when at night Darkwing Duck continues his rather tenuous cat-and-mouse games with Red Maho. Gosalyn thinks that her dad is being stupid and should just date the woman if he's so confused. Gosalyn has seen through Miyu's "tsundere" facade and thinks both parties are acting rather stupid.
Srsly, I had better hear Drake/Darkwing sing some point in the Ducktales reboot. I can srsly hear Drake and Miyu's duet at the final act. Both of these ducks having their star moment, just like they dreamed of.

Even more doodles of formerly “Red Mugen.” That villain name does not fit Miyu. Now her villain name is “Red Mahō” (Red Magic). I wanted to draw more of my Morgana OC. Then someone mentioned on instagram that Miyu wasn’t giving off the monster/vampire vibe. So here’s “Red Mahō” being creepy because she can. I think Miyu would have a ton of fun as a villain, it’s like a game of acting and not breaking character. And for once, she gets to let loose and not hide her powers. “Red Mahō” doesn’t really run physically, her kimono does that for her. I didn’t like the mask design, so I switched it to a flexible Hannya mask.
Also for Lucia Moreno, I’m a bit torn with her design. Should I keep her as the classic tall duck? Or make her a completely different bird? Tried out a Red Macaw and a Crow. Originally Lucia’s parents had met in Mexico; her father is a mortician with a romantic flair and her mother emigrated from Transylvania with family for a new business venture.
For Miyu, I wasn’t sure if making her a duck was an easy out. Other than Beakley, I don’t think I see many tall ducks. Decided to make her a half-swan. I just love drawing child Miyu, she’s so wholesome and innocent before $h!t hit the floor.
As for why Miyu has this friendly enmity with Drake Mallard, Miyu actually met Drake Mallard years ago when she was a struggling immigrant actress. That brief encounter was dear to her, and she still thinks fondly of that time. Now, it’s really complicated for her. After so many years, her “bishounen” prince charming is playing the part of the very character she hates and blames for the slow death of Lucia Moreno. She doesn’t know how to approach him anymore, and she ruined it by slapping his coffee in a fit of anger. And that’s why she always acts like a tsundere troll towards him.

I’ve been wanting to come with a cool costume for Miyu is she joined as a heroine in the “Red String AU."One problem I have; how to approach her costume. I’d love to get your feedback on how Red Maho should look as a heroine in this AU. Feel free to ask any questions. In the meanwhile, here’s some extra story bits
After growing up as childhood friends, they agree to take a break to discover themselves & go to their respective colleges or paths. Later on they reunite and find that they both love each other more than just friends. Fast forward, they are officially a couple and both just trying to make their names in the acting business. I already picture a heartfelt scene where Miyu is comforting Drake after the events of "Duck Knight Returns,” and giving him full support in his decision to become Darkwing Duck. She’d be happy and relieved that Drake would have Launchpad watching his back. And will always prepare some things to help them in their vigilante activities. Drake doesn’t have to worry about his suit getting ruined or trashed anymore. But when both LP & DW are in serious trouble, she almost rushes out the door, then. But she stops herself from rushing headfirst, and gets the mad decision to go assist as a new hero. Of course, Gosalyn had the same idea, except Miyu makes her wear an enchanted hat that makes her face-unmemorable and with a creature summon to guard her. Miyu’s costume is a hasty magic construct stitched together with whatever was lying around. Dunno if I want to make it a modern nod to the classic Morgana look. Or to mix eastern and western influences.Having her mother alive and being supportive of her interests in magic, Miyu would have room to explore, experiment, and study other forms of magic. Having the aids of spirits, yokai, and other creatures would give her an edge. At this point she’s a mix of an Onmyoji and mage. Most of her powers derive from summoning Shikigamis for offense/defense, while raining elements down on enemies. The Yumi bow wasn’t considered, originally she was going to have a rapier or staff to summon. But the idea of using the Yumi longbow to shoot off spells from long-distances or raining hell on enemies was too good to pass up (changed wording to see if Tumblr somehow detects bad words) The idea for Darkwing’s “swordsman” mode is inspired by Miyu’s love for shojo manga and how she has always seen Drake; her heroic prince. Drake’s Sabre blade is a good counter for Negaduck’s dangerous arsenal of chainsaws or huge weapons. unfortunately that transformation can wear out after extreme fatigue & overtime.

Urge to draw DUCKS!!!
Do you ever just have so many ideas & story bites to draw? Most being AUs? Cuz I made like 5 of them? 4 or 5 based the 2017 Ducktales verse. And 1 in the 90s Darkwing verse. Geez I want to draw me some ducks but I just got out of mini-hiatus & need to get back to my webcomic.
AND THEN SAN DIEGO FREAKING COMIC CON HAPPENED! MAH BABY GIRL GOSALYN IS BACK WHERE SHE BELONGS; IN DRAKE MALLARD’S LOVING ARMS!!! I have the urge to draw so many ducks!
DUCKS!!! (Someone please hold me I can’t bear it. I just wanna draw ducks but webcomic and real-life issues)
But would anyone even be interested in the AUs I’ve concocted?
Tumblr media
My Morgana OC, Miyu Moreno / Red Mugen? I made about 3 alternative AU stories that diverge from her. 3 & debating of improving her design (I’m not completely satisfied). Asides from the current path of her being one of Darkwing’s most dangerous villains & hell-bent on reviving her dead mother, there are 2 very sweet gushy AUs: Red String- Lucia left Japan early with newly adopted Miyu & settle down in St. Canard. Specifically in little Drake Mallard’s neighborhood.  And they become childhood friends, that eventually turn into sweethearts, with so many tender child moments.Oh and sometimes Miyu attracts monsters & old ghosts that she & Drake kinda end up solving or reviving dead/cold cases. So hardly a boring moment for these 2. Stranger Things-ish? - Following original plot, Miyu is struggling on her own in Japan after the death of Lucia, but finds herself a target by a shady organization. So she flees Japan in hopes of finding distant relatives of her mother. Winds up hiding in abandoned (supposedly haunted) shack in the woods with the company of old spirits & critters. Young Drake Mallard meets her by chance & befriends her. Then they both end up trying to evade the Shady people from Japan, & going on a risky road trip to help find any of Lucia’ Moreno’s relatives.
Tumblr media
And then there’s Rei, the psedo-older sister to Gosalyn...It’s a giant can of worms with this character’s backstory & future shenanigans. These ornery little she-demons will drive Drake Mallard into an earlier grave than any of his foes with the $h!t they pull. For more  deets click here & here. And the 2017 reboot version of Rei would end up being adopted by Jim Starling 1st, which is a really bittersweet relationship they have cuz God someone give that man a reality gut-punch and THEN a hug. But then I had the crazy idea of a different AU for the reboot verse where Rei & Jim meet WAY earlier & I don’t know why I come up with this $h!t Brighter Stars- The circumstances for Rei are different, this time she’s an adult, and just a few years younger than the young Jim Starling, lead of “Darkwing Duck.” This is an AU where adult Rei plays “Morgana Macawber” & doesn’t put up with Jim’s ego, but at the same time helps Jim change for the better, & they form a close bond. Kinda hesitant to say how close that bond goes, considering this AU is where Rei is a mature adult, but with a lot of her own hidden problems. Man I REALLY need to draw an adult version of Rei specifically in the reboot-verse.
And it’s nearly 1 AM where I am. Plz help me out of this pit.

Little Anger | Angel | Trial 2.2 | Re: Yuma, Miyu, Alice Attn: Masaki
Chiyo found herself going quiet. She smiled back at Ryuuta, thankful someone had found the glasses. That was a relief. She kept following the people around the room and found herself blushing at Yuma, before silently looking away.
"..."
She said nothing to Yuma, and instead listened to the others that spoke soon after. Until Miyu spoke again.
"Hayami-senpai, this is unbecoming of you. Moreno-kun wasn't really wrong. Itazura-senpai built upon that point, just as he built on yours. This is a discussion. This isn't about who was right and wrong... it's about finding the killer."
She glanced at Lucien. She wanted to get up, but remained sitting, despite fidgeting.
"The... only people with access to Morino-senpai's wardrobe... Sorry but... that would be you, Thatcher-san, and Morino-senpai... Right?"
She didn't say what that meant, but... it was somewhat implied.

Dark Sparkles | Angel | Trial 2.1 | Re: Miyu Attn: Everyone
Chiyo had been pretty scarce during investigation. After feeling faint at the body, it seemed like she hadn't gotten very far. If she saw someone, she sort of avoided them.
"Relying on the glitter can be a start, but... it probably won't help. Anyone who looked at that dress will likely have glitter on them. I know I do."
Chiyo held up her right arm, turning it a little. Her index and middle fingers seemed bruised and looked painful. There was, sure enough, small amounts of glitter stuck to her sleeve. There was also sprinkles of glitter stuck to the front of her jumper and the sling which was holding her left arm in place. She rested her right hand on the table again.
"Moreno-kun would... also be correct. We... did not find Ueda-senpai for... for 21 hours and a half. That means the murderer... had almost a day to clean up."
"Also... Ueda-senpai's glasses weren't there. I don't know where they went. And... I found a small piece of clear glass on the floor of the Costume Room."

Asking For Shoe Sizes. Please. | Angel | Trial 1 | Re: Alice, Yuma | Attn: Aelois, Lucien, Miyu
"Thatcher-senpai, Sugawara-senpai, please try to keep your shouting to a minimum."
"Ueda-senpai and Noro-senpai fit the range for shoe sizes, however Ueda-senpai has the wrong type of shoe. Moreno-senpai, Hayami-senpai and Drejall-senpai still need to give us their sizes. Your cooperation would be appreciated."
The look in her eyes was... not an impressed one.

Little Pointers || Miyu || Chapter 4 Trial 4 || RE: Yuma, Lucien ATTN: Aelois
Miyu sighs, holding tighter to her skirts. This was stressful, and she was starting to feel sick again.
"'Honour' has nothing to do with this, Sugawara-kun. People were dying, and I need to reiterate that I'm genuinely surprised to see you all accepting the idea that Drejall-kun has to be innocent because of your preconceived notions about her. I thought Morino-kun was a sweet, innocent person as well. Then they committed murder. So let's go ahead and forget everything we knew about each other before these trials, because they mean nothing."
"Here's my question for everyone. Aside from a somewhat similar haircut, what evidence do you have that suggests it was me? Instead of anyone else with similar hair, what has made you pounce on me? And I need to ask a question to Drejall-kun, as I think it'll help answer Moreno-kun's question as well. Drejall-kun... Who was shown to you for the motive?"
