Synopsis: Valentine’s Day is declared as an official holiday. However, private companies’ standards dictate it’s only for the people who are currently in a relationship. Unluckily for Y/N, she doesn’t have this year’s PRS’ (Proof of Relationship Status) “in a relationship” box ticked – the only ticket out she can have to enjoy one paid week of holiday leave away from her hellish job. And more unfortunately for Y/N, everyone around her is oh so conveniently currently committed in a relationship. Except for one person: Min Yoongi, Y/N’s biggest critic in every pitch meeting, the picky guy who always picks on her, and the most annoying jerk of the century. Desperate for that holiday leave, Y/N strikes Yoongi up with an offer: Fake date each other two weeks before February 14, just enough time for the Department of Relationship Management (DRM) to consider processing their PRSs. After Valentine’s Day, they will go back to their own ways and never speak about whatever that may happen during the plan. Good, plain, and simple. That is until, Yoongi uncharacteristically oh so enthusiastically agrees to Y/N’s offer, leaving her thinking that she may have bitten something too much more than she can chew.

               When Y/N reaches Rockfort Place, she rushes to their building’s lift and presses the 12th floor. She’s going to tell Yoongi what happened first. And then, she’ll treat him out to lunch. Their lunchbreak is just about to start in five. She’ll be able to reach him before he goes out for lunch.

               Stepping into Travel Loca’s main hall, Y/N starts to make her way towards the Creatives’ office. Only to stop short.

               Yoongi is leaning over the cubicle next to Y/N’s previous one with a smile on his face. He’s got his arms folded on top of the cubicle to prop up his jaw as he talks to the business adviser so animatedly with a wide smile on his face. Of course, how could Y/N forget? Yoongi likes Soyeon. It’s evident when she sees his ears tinge in pink as Soyeon laughs at what he said.

               Mina already told Y/N about this before her very first date with Yoongi. Y/N even brought it up, herself, in their past dates. But it doesn’t prepare her to the way her stomach falls when Yoongi leans further towards Soyeon to whisper something by her ear. Y/N feels the hot sting of her tears prick on her eyelids when Yoongi flashes a fond smile at Soyeon who’s giggling behind her hand.

               Y/N feels hurt pang in her heart. She knows that smile he just gave Soyeon. It’s the same look Yoongi gave to Y/N when they slow-danced in the bistro, when they exchanged stupid texts across the office, when he sought comfort next to her when they watched a horror movie, and when she opened up her insecurities to him yesterday, her hands warm in his own. But now, Y/N realizes they are just misconstrued implications by her heart because she became too selfish. She just acknowledged what she wanted to see. She ignored the signs when they have always been there. How Yoongi flushes at the mention of Soyeon’s name. How he stutters in his words in denying his feelings for the girl. Y/N has never even made Yoongi's ears redden at the slightest in the times she tried to let her heart speak for her. He only does so when Y/N teases him about Soyeon. And now as Soyeon's hand lingers on his arm when she smiles at his grinning face. It's always been obvious. Yoongi likes Soyeon.

               Y/N already knows this but she cannot disregard the flaming pain wedge deeper into her heart. It’s ridiculous she’s even feeling this way because there was never something between her and Yoongi. All they ever had was an agreement and all Yoongi ever did was be a good friend to her. She’s the only one who got too selfish and misunderstood everything just so she can make herself feel good about the things she’s feeling. Things Yoongi unknowingly caused in her heart that Y/N knows he will never accept. Because Yoongi already likes someone else. Someone who’s not her.

               So before Yoongi could sense her presence, Y/N dashes to the side of the hall and into the quiet confines of the break room. She can’t let him see how vulnerable she has become because of him. She already hates herself enough for entertaining this feeling and letting it fester this long. She’s the one who brought this upon herself. There’s no one else to blame but her. And because of that, there’s no other person that can fix this but herself. Y/N blinks back her tears. She must stop feeling this way before it could become strong enough to hurt her. Before Yoongi could hurt her. Because Y/N knows she shouldn’t be feeling anything real for Yoongi when all of this is supposed to be an act.
