Hello pisslings. I’m back from the dead after a measly 20 posts!!! (Impressive, I know)
I return with good news!!! I’m no longer a Genshin fan. However, I return with equally bad news!!! I’m still a mha fan!!!
But that’s alright. I’ve had a few awakenings in the time I’ve been gone. Mainly, some gender awakenings and such. But here’s a proper intro before we get into that.
Basic Info
Personal Stuff
My name is Nic!! Though I also go by Kikki. Feel free to call me either!!
In terms of like. Adjectives??? I guess??? I generally prefer masculine (like I hate being called a girl but being called a guy is v nice) but also like calling me cute or pretty is cool if you wanna do that for some reason idk.
I’m a Leo ♌️ my birthday is August 13th
No you don’t get to know my age fuck off /lh
I am actually diagnosed with depression and anxiety as well as mixed-moderate ADHD
I am NOT diagnosed with maladaptive daydreaming but how the fuck can I misdiagnose myself with that like it’s so specific I’m like 90% I have it or I’m just absolutely feral no in between.
There is also a good chance I’m autistic but like that definitely isn’t diagnosed so I’m. Currently holding out on it. I have my suspicions though.
Anyways—
People put their kins here right??? I feel like I’ll get called a poser or some shit and people will be like “you don’t really kin these characters1!!1!” But fuck it here’s my top kins
Dabi (My Hero Academia)
Sunny (Omori)
Isaac (The Binding of Isaac)
Mafuyu Asahina (Project Sekai: Colorful Stage)
Ena Shinonome (Project Sekai: Colorful Stage)
Sayori (Doki Doki Literature Club)
Steven Universe (Steven Universe)
Mipha (Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)
Stuff I do
I draw sometimes!!! It’s a struggle but I try really hard. Maybe I’ll open an art blog sometime.
I also have been trying to write. Which is really hard cause I’m just— not good at going back and rereading my writing. I have very few fics posted but my user is NikxieRocks on Ao3 if you’re curious.
I play video games. If you wanna be my friend on Switch, WiiU, or Switch, feel free to dm me. I have no cool gaming friends </3
Silly Gender Things
Ah yes. The real reason I came back to Tumblr. I realized there was a thriving community of xenogender users and I wouldn’t get hatecrimed like I would on Tiktok. So anyways here’s my gay things. Please be respectful ^^
Boyfluid
Tumblr media
Boyfluid is like genderfluid but you never fluctuate to the female side. In other words, my gender fluctuates between masculine and nonbinary identities. I’m so glad I found this out, it’s so fucking reassuring. Anyways onto my xenos!!!
Doggender/Pupgender
Tumblr media
The delicious flavor of this xeno is feeling connected to dogs or identifying with or as one in some way. For me personally, it just makes me feel comfy and happy and very Yes so it’s probably a good thing!!! I do in fact identify with puppers it’s real.
Dogflux/Pupflux
Tumblr media
This might be a bit. Repetitive. But I just. Love this flag so much. I’m so stupid and this identity makes me giddy and I found it less than an hour ago so we’re rolling with it until I find more xenogenders to wrap around me like a protective armor to shield my mental illness. Anyways, this gender is basically boyfluid but more specific— it’s the fluctuating between the male gender and doggender which fits me pretty well. Anyways that’s it for now.
My Pronouns
Pretty simple! I prefer he/pup/they (in that order). I really really really don’t like she/her so please don’t call me that!! And I prefer pup when I’m feeling more nonbinary, he/him when I’m feeling more masc. (I’m not sure how I feel as I’m writing this but that’s cause it’s literally midnight where I am). Pffffff what else. Omg right fandoms ok.
Things I will be Posting About (Fandoms)
MHA.
It’s. Chronic. I am HAUNTED by this series. Horikoshi has me in a death grip and Dabi is taking FULL ADVANTAGE OF IT. I love mha so much I’m never shutting up about it in general but I’ll talk extra long about the villains (specifically Dabi), todofam, and sometimes Bakugou. I’m an edgy bitch what can I say.
Vocaloid
I don’t care if the actual vocaloid fandom is dead I’m currently riding its corpse into the sunset because I literally have no one to talk to about how good vocaloid music is. IT SLAPS SO HARD EVERYONE SHOUKD BE LISTENING TO IT AAAA ok yeah that’s all stan IA.
Pokémon
This can either go one of two ways:
Scarlet and Violet are good games and I won’t shut up about the series and how much fun I’m having and how good the competitive scene is
Scarlet and Violet are ASS and I won’t shut up about how disappointed I am in game freak
Regardless I’m probably gonna talk about how good White 2 is how much I used to have a crush on Gladion.
Splatoon
IM SO EXCITED FOR SPLATOON 3 TEAM PAPER AGAINST THE WORLD BBY
Ok now that I got that out of my system— as a Sploosh main who’s been playing since Splatoon 1, and actually prefers Splatoon 1, I will be reliving my glory days as I try to get A rank in Splat Zones. God help me.
Anime Figures
I am aware this isn’t a fandom but I need to talk about Hatsune Miku figures or my wallet will be empty.
Maybe Undertale or Fnaf or other Cringe topics
Idk man I watched matpat as a kid. My first EVER fandom was Undertale. I am clearly mentally ill. There will be some dumb and concerning shit. I am cringe, but I am free. So is life.
Dnis
Should be pretty standard but yk here we go
Basic DNIs. I’m literally a black queer like get off my page if you’re racist and homophobic
Genshin fans who like… REALLY like Kusanali and are ignorant about the whole Sumeru thing… gtfo…
Anyone who thinks blackwashing is real like touch grass
DID/OSDD fakeclaimers I hope you rot in hell
Proshippers. No explanation needed.
People who harass fans of problematic media. Like no stop you’re literally just as bad if not worse than them by harassing someone. Just leave them alone smh
People who shit on mha just to shit on mha like please get a hobby
Genuine man haters like I’m literally masc leaning that shit makes me uncomfy as hell
ENDEAVOR STANS AND ENDHAWKS SHIPPERS (I know this is fandom specific but AAAUHH)
mlm fetishizers
People who try to force their religion on others (I’m secular. I really don’t care if you’re religious but don’t talk about it with me. Chill out.)
Other Stuff and Outro
My Triggers/Boundaries
My dms are open if you just wanna talk about fandom stuff or writing or art or something but DO. NOT. COME IN MY DMS TO VENT. Unless you’re a very good friend. That is a great way to get yourself blocked.
Don’t send me gore (is that even allowed on Tumblr?) and don’t ever genuinely try to like fuck in dms or somethin??? (I was on Amino idk if this happens on other social media platforms)
And don’t rp with me cause I just don’t roleplay with strangers anymore.
Ok I think that’s it. Probably. Maybe. Idk man it’s really late I’m tired af I’ll probably tag in the morning. Anyways live laugh Shoto!!!! See y’all later ♡

Those Sidon/Our Universe!reader headcanons were sooooo good! If us bird-lovers asked really nicely could you please do headcanons for Revali with an Our Universe!Reader too? How different would that scenario play out?
First off, I wanna thank you @ragefilledmunchkin you were one of my first followers since starting this blog and the appreciation you’ve shown my posts means a lot.
Now, this answer got preeettty long so I’m only posting half of it for now. I’ll probably either post a part 2 of this later this week, or just edit the rest into this post. So check back in a day or two if you wanna see the rest :)
Edit: Here be the link for part 2
To start things off, I can easily summarize the beginning of the relationship with a song:
     Tale as old as time,
    song as old as rhyme,
    Beauty and the Bitch
....(Lol, it is accurate though)
There’s really no nicer way to put this
Revali’s a straight up asshole to you
Your first meeting is when he and the other champions are summoned to Hyrule castle. You stood between Zelda and Link as everyone gathers around a table
Once everyone’s properly seated, Zelda explains your situation
Revali’s not buying it
“Pardon me, but how do we know this isn’t some ruse to get closer to the princess?”
Zelda’s a bit thrown at the interruption, but quickly answers his question. “Well, y/n happened to have some technology from their world on hand when they landed here.”
She takes out your device to pass around among the others. “It’s quite fascinating. This ‘I-phone’ is more advanced than any other technology we’ve come across, including the Sheikah slate”
Her comment intrigues the other champions, but Revali only inspects it before quickly handing it back
“So not only do they appear without explanation -conveniently I might add, right before the Calamity- but they also just ‘happened’ to carry evidence supporting their claim at the time?”
You try not to shrink under the glare directed at you. “The situation’s a bit too ‘coincidental’ for me. For all we know this could be another half-baked plan by the Yiga.”
You had no clue what a ‘Yiga’ was, but it wasn’t hard to guess from the hostility it was spoken with
Your fear quickly turns into anger. “Are you implying that I’m so sort of traitor?”
His expressions made his thoughts on the matter clear “They are well known for abilities for disguise, and with their past history, it’s not out of the question for them to have advanced technology.” He raises an eyebrow at you
Let’s nt forget that they’re also a dangerous group of imbeciles. So far, you seem to be matching the profile perfectly.”
Why that little-
“Enough, Revali.” Urbosa cuts him off before he can say another word “Circumstances aside, the princess has decided to trust them; you need to respect that. So set the suspicions aside for now and-”
Whatever she’s about to say is promptly cut off when an apple whizzes past her shoulder and hits the Rito champion dead on the beak
Everyone turns their head to where the offending fruit was thrown, and you at least have the decency to look sheepish
Perhaps you should’ve thought that one through....
“Excuse Me,” Revali’s voice sounds muffled under the wing covering his beak “What in Hylia’s name was that for, you little cretin”
...On second thought, screw the bastard
“Oh, I am so sorry sir.” Your words are mockingly sweet “We cretins have a saying; ‘An apple a day keeps the asshole away’ Looks like it didn’t work though.”
If you weren’t so pissed, you would’ve heard Urbosa snorting in the background
Link and Zelda were struggled not to laugh
Daruk doesn’t even bother hiding his laughter, banging his fist on the table as he continues cackling
Even Mipha has to bite her lip to stop herself from smiling
The only one who wasn’t joining in was Revali
He was too busy staring daggers at you
...Well shit
And so begins a beautiful(?) relationship

Shadows of Hyrule | Chapter 77
Just as Link expected, the media had gathered around the hospital, anxiously waiting for Hyrule’s Champions to make their appearance. But to his relief, they were also greeted with heavy security detail, and despite Revali’s eagerness to brag to the cameras, they made it through the crowd without incident and into the awaiting town cars.
All Link wanted to do was go home and sleep in his bed for the rest of the summer. But even though the war was over, there were still some loose ends that needed tying up. For one, the sword needed to be returned to where he found it, which would - hopefully - close the last portal, sealing Ganondorf away once and for all.
Secondly, there was the matter of Revali’s mysterious remark to him and Zelda. Something still weighed heavily on the minds of the Champions. Something that Link and Zelda were completely unaware of. Link hadn’t the slightest idea what had happened while they were seperated, but the thought festered in his mind and made him sick to his stomach. He wanted nothing more than to put the entire thing behind him.
And as he thought about it, another realization came to mind. There was still the unanswered question about the Yiga Clan. Zelda had her suspicions that there was a mole among the Sheikah entrusted with the safety of the royal family. She had mentioned that Impa had warned her not to look into the Yiga Clan. Surely she wouldn’t have made such a warning if there was nothing to hide.
He hoped, at the very least, the hardest part was over.
The Champions found themselves in each other’s company once more. They were gathered together at the park. The same park they so frequently visited. The park where their last soccer game was suddenly interrupted by Ganondorf’s return. On this cool, summer evening, however, the park was empty as they huddled together, keeping their voices low as they spoke.
“So,” Link started, shoving his hands in his pockets. “What’s the deal?”
The four Champions exchanged wary glances for a moment before Revali spoke.
“We think the Yiga Clan is still in business, and we think there’s a mole in the Sheikah. Someone is working with them.”
“Right,” Zelda started, slightly hesitant. “I know.”
Urbosa narrowed her gaze on Zelda. “What do you mean you know?” she hissed.
“I mean. Well. I… had my own suspicions,” she admitted.
“Since when?” Daruk asked.
“For a while,” she said.
“And you didn’t think to tell us?” Revali said.
Zelda narrowed her gaze on him. “It was just a suspicion.” she said. “It’s not like there was anything I could do about it unless it amounted to something. I have no proof.”
“Well,” Revali started, crossing his arms and turning his attention to Link. “If it’s proof you need, your father’s got it.”
Link’s brows furrowed. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“It seems he and Dorian are out to kill each other,” Daruk said. “It’s a wonder they haven’t offed the other yet.”
Link shook his head. “They’re best friends.”
“So, threatening each other with loaded weapons is your idea of friendship?” Urbosa said.
“I wish I had known that,” Revali said with a grin.
“What are you talking about?” Link sneered.
“Look,” Daruk started seriously. “After you got gutted for a second damn time, we thought we were fucked. Zelda was holding that dickwad back with everything she had, and we needed to get her out of there and come up with a damn plan.” He hesitated. “We went to the base outside the city, but your dad had other plans. I thought he and Dorian were going to kill us all right then and there.”
“He said he should have killed Dorian when he had the chance,” Revali said simply.
“And he was the reason everything happened,” Urbosa said.
“Everything?” Zelda echoed. “Like…”
“Like opening the portals and giving Ganondorf every advantage he could, probably,” Daruk said.
“Exactly what a Yiga bastard would do,” Revali confirmed.
“No,” Zelda said quickly. “Dorian… he’s not with the Yiga. He’s Impa’s second in command. She trusts him.” She grew angry. “And don’t you dare tell me she’s one of them, too!”
“Probably not,” Urbosa said. “But it’s likely she doesn’t have a clue.”
“Or she does,” Daruk pointed out, “and she’s just not telling us.”
“And she won’t say anything,” Urbosa said.
“No, she won’t,” Zelda said slowly. “She knew I was looking into the Yiga Clan. She pulled me aside and told me to stay out of it.”
“That’s enough for me,” Daruk said. “Sounds like the Yiga Clan is still a very real threat. And if Dorian is a mole, that’s even more bad news for us.”
“What do you think they’ll do?” Mipha asked.
“I’m sure they’ll do everything in their power to bring Ganondorf back and fuck up everything we’ve done to get rid of his sorry ass,” Revali said.
“How could they do that?” Mipha’s brows furrowed together.
“I’m sure they have their ways,” Urbosa said. “And we shouldn’t wait to find out. I’m not doing a second war with that giant dick.”
“What do you want me to do about it?” Link muttered.
“Oh, I don’t know,” Revali said, rolling his eyes. “Get your dad to talk.”
“He won’t,” Link said. “He won’t tell me shit.”
“How can you be so sure about that?” Zelda said. “After everything we’ve been through already -”
“Because he’s been hiding shit from me since the beginning,” Link snapped. He hesitated and kicked the toe of his shoe into the dirt. “And he probably has every reason to. If I needed to know, he would have told me.”
“I’d say if it has to do with the safety of Hyrule, you should know,” Urbosa said. “You are the Chosen Hero, after all.”
“Yeah,” Link grunted. “Let me know what that means anything to anyone. It doesn’t give me any special treatment.”
“So, you can’t put that on your resume?” Revali said.
Link sighed. “Are we done? I have a sword to get rid of a portal to close.”
“I’ll see what I can find,” Zelda said. “About Dorian and the Yiga.”
Urbosa pinched her lips together. “Be careful. Don’t do anything without us.”
“I’m the princess of Hyrule,” she said. “What is he gonna do? Kidnap me in my own home?”
“I’m not coming to anyone’s rescue,” Link said, turning his back on his friends. “My job is done.”
“Don’t relax too much,” Revali warned him. “We may be kicking Yiga ass next.”
“Sure,” Link said over his shoulder. “As long as I can sleep the rest of the summer away, first.”
*****
His father was home when Link got home. He and Aryll were happily stuffing their faces with pizza when Link entered. He sat himself at the table with a heavy sigh and reached across to snag his own slice.
“Did they have pizza in the olden days?” Aryll asked with a mouthful of pizza.
“The olden days?” Rusl repeated.
“Yeah. Like. Do you think Hylia liked pizza?”
“I don’t think they had pizza, Ary,” Link said.
Aryll frowned. “Those poor people.” She shrugged and took another bite of her slice. “So, tomorrow,” she continued, changing the subject. “We’re gonna get a puppy, right?”
“I don’t think so,” Rusl said.
“But you said if we won we could get a puppy!”
“In my defense,” Rusl said. “I was fairly sure we would lose.” He grinned at Link.
“Ha. Ha,” Link said sarcastically.
“Well,” Aryll said. “We win. And I get a puppy.”
Rusl put his chin in his hand and sighed. “We’ll see.”
“When I’m a Mom, I’m gonna get all the puppies and do what I say!”
Rusl laughed sharply. “We’ll see about that.”
“Yeah huh!”
“That’s the best part of being a parent,” he said. “You get to be the biggest hypocrite you want, and your best excuse is ‘because I said so.’”
“You say that all the time, Daddy.”
His grin widened. “It’s a wonderful world, Ary. Someday you’ll appreciate it.”
Aryll turned a helpless gaze to Link, and her brother simply shrugged.
“Why do you bother, Ary?” he said. “You’re old enough to know by now.”
“I’m six!”
“When I was your age,” Rusl said, “I had to walk -”
“Uphill, both ways, in the snow,” Link said dryly.
Aryll gasped at Link. “You’re turning into him!”
“No way.” Link shook his head. “I have a better excuse than that.”
“What, saving the world?” Rusl said. “That won’t get old fast.”
“I’m milking that one forever.”
“Does that mean you and Mipha are gonna have babies?” Aryll asked.
Rusl snorted and Link choked slightly on his pizza.
“Hylia, I hope not,” Rusl said. “Do you really think he could keep a damn kid alive?”
“He could make them peanut butter and banana sandwiches!”
Rusl nodded. “Ah, yes, a key category in the food pyramid, with all the nutrients a growing child needs.”
“Don’t you have to go to bed or something?” Link said to his sister.
Aryll shook her head. “No! It’s summer! I get to stay up all night!”
“Go to bed, Ary,”  Rusl said.
Aryll frowned. “Do I gotta?”
“Yes,” they said in unison.
Aryll turned her gaze to each of them, then sighed. “Alright,” she said as she slid off the chair. “But only because I’m gonna build a fort in Link’s room and play his video games.”
“Have fun,” Rusl said as Aryll skipped out of the room.
Link listened as her feet hurried up the stairs and waited for the faint sound of a closing door before he spoke.
“So,” he started, taking another slice of pizza. “What’s the deal with Dorian?”
Rusl met his son’s gaze, his brows furrowed.
“Come on,” Link said. “Don’t do this shit. Everyone told me what happened.”
Rusl still did not answer his son. He picked at his pizza for a moment.
“Is Dorian working with the Yiga Clan?” Link pressed, his gaze narrowed on his father. “Is he going to fuck up everything we’ve done to stop Ganondorf?”
Rusl met his son’s gaze once more. If there was anything he knew, Link could not have guessed what it was. His father’s expression was completely void of any emotional response. He held his gaze on his father, and when endless minutes passed of no response, he got to his feet angrily.
“Stop hiding things from me!”
Rusl smiled and returned to his pizza. “Your job is done. There’s nothing more you need to worry about.”
“There is if the Yiga Clan is going to undo everything we’ve done,” Link sneered. “I’m not doing this again.”
Rusl’s smile disappeared. He regarded his son once more. “I won’t let you do it again,” he said softly. He took a bite of his pizza. “Stop worrying. You’ve done your part. Leave the rest up to us.”
Link hesitated. “What about Dorian?”
Rusl leaned back in the chair and met his son’s gaze. “Don’t worry about it. It doesn’t concern you.”
Admittedly, Link was not happy with this answer, but he trusted his father. “I thought you were friends.”
“It’s complicated.”
“Is that what your Facebook status says?” Link grinned.
Rusl smiled and got to his feet. “Promise me you’ll drop it,” he said fiercely.
Link hesitated, then nodded. “Fine,” he said. “But I can’t promise Revali will, or anyone else.”
Rusl considered this with a shrug. “Convince them. I don’t need any more trouble than I already have.”
Link frowned. “I don’t like this.”
“I know.” Rusl sighed. He patted his son’s shoulder as he left the kitchen without another word.

Shadows of the Yiga | Chapter 32
“Why did you tell us all of that?”
Rusl glanced at his son. They had made it back to the ranch, and Aryll had hurried off to help Talon with the evening chores. Link leaned against the paddock fence, watching as the dogs chased the goats, nipping at their heels.
“Because it’s something you should know,” Rusl said. “And I promised no more lies, remember?” He shrugged. “You wanted answers. Well, that’s why things are the way they are. That’s why you and Zelda have a responsibility to keep Hyrule safe, no matter what the future may hold.” He leaned his elbows on the top of the fence and turned to his son. “You don’t really believe that it’s all for nothing, do you?”
“No,” Link said. “You’re right. We buy Hyrule time. We fight until the end.” He sighed. “If I’m gonna be used, it sure as hell won’t be for nothing.”
Rusl straightened. He glanced over his shoulder as Revali made his usual loud entrance with Kit and Daruk following close behind.
“There you are,” he started. “We’ve been looking for you all damn day.”
“He wasn’t,” Kit said. “In fact, his exact words were, ‘Don’t tell Link I got the good stuff.’”
Revali grinned and flashed two cigars. “I saved you both one, alright?”
Rusl frowned. “That’s it?”
“Do you know how much these cigars cost?” Revali sneered.
“You said you had the good stuff,” Rusl said. “In my day, we didn’t waste our money on fancy cigars.”
“Oh, alright, I see how it is.” Revali crossed his arms and turned to Kit. “My stuff isn’t good enough for the dead guy.” He turned to Kit. “Why don’t you whip out your stupid tin for these two losers? They’d rather get high like little girls.” Revali shook his head. “No one appreciates a damn good cigar anymore. Well you know what? I’m not sharing my whisky with you idiots.”
Link snatched the cigars out of Revali’s hands. “You’re rolling in dirty money,” he said as he handed a cigar to his father. “You’re not high class because of that.”
“Then give ‘em back. They were bought with my dirty money.”
Link shrugged and lit the cigar. “I’m already a criminal. He sucked in, then blew out smoke. “Which means I guess I can work for you now.”
“Yeah, about that,” Revali started. “Now that you’re not some innocent little hero, you’ll only raise more suspicions. You’re out.”
Link frowned. “You can’t take back your offer,” he said. “I want those six numbers.”
“Six numbers?” Rusl repeated. He turned to Revali. “You know he can’t even flip a damn burger, right?”
“Fortunately for him, his pathetic college dropout ass doesn’t need any reputable skills for this job,” Revali said. “The only requirement was to keep his nose clean, and he couldn’t even do that.”
“That wasn’t what we discussed,” Link pointed out. “All I needed to do was sign my name on all your sketchy documents.”
“Well, I don’t want your name on my documents anymore,” Revali said. “And I don’t think you could even sell that signature of yours anymore. You couldn’t even sell your damn blood.”
“Sperm,” Kit pointed out.
Revali rolled his eyes. “Like anyone would want his damn babies.”
“This is nice,” Rusl said. “You’re all fucking twisted.”
“I’m kind of an expert on heroes,” Kit said. “I’ve been serving them alcohol and helping them drown their problems for years. You don’t know the half of it.” He exhaled smoke. “And those sperm-bank babies are probably the only grandkids you’ll get.”
“Charming,” Rusl said. “Your mother had money on you and Mipha. Guess she’ll be disappointed.”
“Oh, they’re a thing,” Revali said. “You can rest assured that if anyone will settle for Link, it’s Mipha.”
“Watch it,” Link sneered.
“Right,” Rusl said. “I’ll believe that when I see it.”
“I guess she has kind of been avoiding you since you got back,” Kit said.
“Why’s that?” Rusl asked.
They fell silent for a moment. Rusl looked between them warily. To their relief, they silence was interrupted by Riju’s voice as she bounded around the corner. Her eyes lit up when she saw Link and she bounced to his side as Mipha and Urbosa rounded the corner behind her.
“There he is,” she said, draping an arm over his shoulders. “We sent these idiots out looking for you but they never came back.” She looked Revali up and down. “I guess they thought it was more important to drink and smoke.”
“Bait,” Revali said simply. “Bring alcohol and Link comes running like a good boy. And now he got a treat.”
Riju ignored him and turned her attention back to Link. “You know, this hero business is way more exciting than our laser tag games.”
“No,” Link said simply. “Go away.”
“Hear me out,” she said. She pressed a finger to his nose, sending a light shock through her fingertips. Link lunged toward her, but she jumped out of his way with a laugh.
“Will you give it a rest?” Urbosa said, putting a hand on her hip. “You’re not a part of this.”
“Oh, but I am,” Riju said with a grin. “Just you wait. I’ll have my moment, and ya’ll will be in my debt!”
“She is deadly with a laser gun,” Link said dryly.
“You’re not helping,” Urbosa sneered.
Riju crossed her arms and turned her attention to Mipha.
“What do you want me to do about it?” Mipha said, meeting her expectant gaze.
“Be on my side,” Riju pleaded with her. “I don’t care what you gotta do. Withhold sex. Guys will do anything to have their stupid dicks touched. Even name me a Champion!”
Mipha’s cheeks reddened, but to her relief, Link came to her rescue.
“You know,” he started, “it’s not even my call. Zelda’s the boss. Take it up with her.”
“Yeah, no need to give Link any grief,” Revali said. “If it weren’t for Mipha, no one would touch his dick.”
“Really?” Daruk shook his head. “Are we in high school again?”
“Do they talk about their dicks regularly?” Kit asked.
“Revali has to remind us daily how big his is,” Riju said.
“He over compensates with money and fancy cars,” Link added.
“You know what?” Revali said. “I’m gonna let that slide, because I’m above this immaturity.”
Urbosa pushed her sister along. “Look what you started. Are you happy?”
Riju grinned. “Just like the good ol’ days.”
Mipha hesitated, meeting Link’s gaze briefly before hurrying to catch up with Urbosa and Riju as they made their way to the house. She paused when Link called to her and waited for him to catch up. They stood alone on the edge of the driveway in uncomfortable silence for a moment before Link finally spoke.
“I’m, uh, sorry I haven’t… I mean. I wasn’t trying to avoid you. But I was. Because. You know. But I’m sorry I left like that. And I know you don’t trust me. I don’t trust me.” He sighed. “I don’t know what to do here.”
“Yeah,” Mipha said softly. “I don’t know, either.”
Link frowned. “Mipha… I’m sorry. It wasn’t -”
“I know,” she said quickly. “I know.”
“You shouldn’t be near me. No one should be.”
“We can handle it,” she said. “You need to trust us to handle it.”
“But I don’t trust me.” He met her gaze. “I can’t be responsible…”
“We won’t let it come down to that,” she said. “Link… We’ll get through this.”
He didn’t feel as confident. But he missed her. So much had happened over the last few days; it was all just a chaotic blur. He needed her reassurance. But he didn’t trust himself around her. Around anyone. He was sick to his stomach just thinking about how easily he could have ended her life. He couldn’t live with himself if he did that, even if it wasn’t him. But when everything seemed to be falling apart around him, she was the only one that made everything better. He needed her.
Mipha pressed her lips against his gently. She lingered for a moment before pulling away and meeting his gaze once more. She hesitated, then her lips pulled into a smile. “So, what do we do when this is over? I mean, no offense, but I don’t want to live with your dad.”
“You’re just assuming he’s not gonna take off and fake his death again,” Link said. “He has no legal rights to that house anymore.”
“Kicking him out?”
“He would have done it to me.”
Mipha’s smile widened. “I was really enjoying the fact that I didn’t have to listen to my neighbor’s pizza guy fantasy every night. The material was really getting old.” She made a face of disgust. “And who gets pineapple on pizza?”
“Don’t hate it until you try it,” Link said.
“Come on, Mrs. Hero!” Riju called from the door. “We’re ordering pizza!”
“I’m not trying it,” Mipha said with a grin. She kissed Link one last time before joining Riju and Urbosa in the house.
Link shoved a hand in his pocket as he watched the door close. He absentmindedly fingered the ring box he still carried with him. He didn’t exactly have a plan as far as proposals went, but he certainly didn’t expect to get kidnapped by the Yiga Clan. Naturally, that set his plans back. Even more now that he was aware of the very short timer left on his life. He let the end of his cigar drop to the ground as his friends joined him once more.
“You oughta put a ring on that before she has the good sense to leave your sorry ass,” Rusl said with a grin.
Kit snorted loudly. “He’s had that weight in his pocket for years.”
Rusl turned to his son and raised a brow. “For real?”
Link sneered at Kit. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“This guy,” Kit said to Rusl, throwing a thumb over his shoulder at Link. “I’ve been tellin’ him the same damn thing. He doesn’t have the balls.”
Rusl shook his head. “I don’t believe it.”
Kit moved toward Link, shoving his hand toward his pocket, but Link lept back, shooing his hand away.
“Get the fuck outta here,” he hissed.
“Stop being such a girl,” Kit said with a grin, chasing Link around and reaching for his pocket. “Let use see it.”
“That’s what she said,” Revali giggled.
“I don’t have anything,” Link insisted.
“Liar. I’ve seen it.” He finally succeeded in pinning Link’s arms and shoved his hand into his pocket, pulling out a small, black box.
Rusl’s eyes widened, but at that moment, the door opened once more as Riju poked her head out. Link shouted at Kit who yelped, juggling the box in his hands before Rusl snatched it and closed his fingers around it, hiding it behind his back. Alerted by their shouts, Riju, Mipha, and Urbosa stepped out and turned their curious gazes to the men.
“What’s going on?” Urbosa asked.
“Kit tried to get in Link’s pants,” Revali said with a grin.
Link glared at Revali.
They chose to ignore this, disinterested in their shenanigans.
“What kinda pizza should we get?” Riju asked.
“Does it really matter?” Daruk said.
“Pineapple it is,” Riju said with a grin. Mipha groaned loudly and headed back inside the house. When all three were safe inside, Rusl pulled the box back out and opened it, peering at the ring. Link snatched it out of his father’s hands and shoved it back into his pocket.
“He didn’t even buy that,” Rusl said. “Cheap bastard.”
“That’s true love, man,” Kit said. “Stealing a ring for a lady.”
Link muttered under his breath. “I didn’t steal it.”
“You sure as hell did,” Rusl accused. “And I want it back.”
“Hey, you’re dead,” Link snapped. “You get nothing.”
“You know how much that damn thing cost me?”
Link rolled his eyes. “Guess you should have kept it with you.”
“Wait,” Daruk started. “You’re giving Mipha hand-me-down rings?”
“I can’t do anything right, can I?” Link sneered.
Kit shook his head. “Are you so surprised?”
“It was Aryll’s idea,” Link said quickly. He crossed his arms. “She says it’s romantic.”
“Right,” Daruk said. “Because you’re real smooth in the romance department.”
“At least I get laid,” Link said.
Revali raised his hand. “I do. I get laid.” He turned to Kit and grinned.
Kit sighed. “I don’t.” He turned to Daruk.
“I… have been a little busy keeping all of you alive.”
“And you’ve been dead,” Revali said to Rusl. “So, that makes two of us. Except Link doesn’t count because He’s only had sex with Mipha.”
Kit snickered and Link elbowed him sharply in the ribs.
“Oh, right,” Revali said. “And Zelda.”
“Zelda?” Daruk said loudly. “The fuck? When was that?”
“Nothing happened,” Link muttered.
“I can neither confirm nor deny this,” Kit said. “However, I could name several others.” He paused. “No, wait, I can’t. And I don’t think Link ever got their names, either.”
“Knock it off,” Link hissed.
“Seriously?” Revali said. “We all leave and you turn into some Playboy? Where was that guy? I could have been friends with that guy!”
“Anyway,” Kit said. “We should warn Mipha so she can make her escape before he pops the question.”
“I’m a hero,” Link said. “I saved Hyrule. Why do I still have to deal with this shit?”
“Because,” Revali said with a grin. “It wouldn’t be the same, otherwise.” He stretched his arms over his head and yawned loudly, then made his way toward the house. “Someone has to stop them before they order pineapple pizza.”
“So, what’s the deal with this job?” Kit said. “How do I get into that applicant pool?”
“There’s no one in the world that could be that desperate,” Daruk said.
“Oh, then you don’t know me very well,” Kit grinned. “In fact, I can’t believe I haven’t thought to sell my blood or sperm.”
“No one wants your children,” Link said. “There isn’t enough money in the world to get a woman to have your children.”
“Harsh, but fair,” Kit said. “Babies are real chick magnets, though. Could I borrow yours once in a while to pick up chicks?”
“Oh, dude, me too,” Revali said.
“I can’t be trusted with a baby,” Link said. “Never mind the two of you.”
“Well, get used to it,” Kit said. “Because if she’s dumb enough to marry you, she’ll be dumb enough to want your babies.”
“No babies,” Link growled.
“Well, I might as well go back to being dead,” Rusl said. “I only came back for the grandkids.”
“Everything was much simpler before you came back,” Link muttered.
Rusl grinned. He draped an arm around his son’s shoulders. “Someone has to keep you dumbasses out of trouble.”
“We did just fine before,” Revali said.
“Besides the fact that Link took a sword to the gut,” Daruk reminded them. He shrugged. “But, sure, we totally know what we’re doing.”
“Dumbasses,” Rusl said. He waved an arm around. “Dumbasses everywhere.”

Shadows of the Future | Chapter 42
Rusl sat at the table, flipping through the mail casually. When did he become some responsible adult with two kids and a mortgage? His nose wrinkled slightly. He couldn’t help feeling bored, despite his latest adventure - mishap, as Impa would have called it. Link, however, was still unaware that he had re-enlisted, so naturally, he had to keep up appearances as a regular, boring dad with some kind of office job.
Goddesses, he was glad to be done with that. Kicking Yiga ass was almost as fun as he remembered it.
He turned his attention to the newspaper at the bottom of the mail pile. He pushed the envelopes aside to read the front page. The approaching war was the headline, and he opened the paper curiously to read the latest gossip.
He looked up when the door opened and Link and Mipha walked in. Link all but ignored his father, not even offering him a greeting, but Mipha smiled sheepishly at him.
“Mipha,” he said with a nod behind his newspaper. “You're still hanging out with this loser?”
Mipha smiled towards Link, who was clearly ignoring his father's remarks, and shrugged. “He's not so bad.”
Rusl flipped the page noisily. “You're right. I don't give him enough credit. He's smart enough to have smarter friends to cheat off of.”
“Bye,” Link said over his shoulder as he rounded the corner.
“I always suspected he was just using me for my brains,” Mipha said with a grin.
Rusl watched as she followed Link upstairs and his gaze narrowed suspiciously. They had always been close, but was there a line between how close they could be? And had they crossed that line, yet? Surely she was just helping him study for finals, but still, Rusl couldn’t quiet the weird, nagging, fatherly voice inside of him that yelled at him to follow them upstairs and demand that the door stay open.
But really. What did he care? Good for Link if he was getting laid. He was starting to think it would never happen. His hero of a son was on the fast track to being a loser that would be living in his house for the rest of his life. Getting some action would probably be good for the kid.
And then Mipha would end up pregnant. Link couldn’t raise a damn kid. Rusl could barely do it. And Dorephan was not a man to take lightly. If Link did not remain loyal and responsible, he and Rusl would surely feel Dorephan’s wrath. The last thing Rusl wanted was to be caught up in Link’s bullshit.
Link would likely panic. He would run off, leaving Mipha alone to raise a child by herself, and leaving Rusl along to deal with Dorephan’s fury. He would lose all credibility for himself, despite his title of hero (assuming he made it out alive) and he would end up living on the streets, probably selling drugs or doing drugs. He’d wind up dead in a gutter and Rusl would be probably be dead to by Dorephan’s hands. Which meant that Aryll would be alone and would probably wind up doing porn or stripping or having sex with strange men for money and somehow, in his wild imagination, Ganondorf rose to power once more and turned Aryll into his sex slave and Mipha and Link’s child became his minion and all would be lost in Hyrule.
To say that his imagined scenario had completely escalated out of control was an understatement. Clearly, the fate of Hyrule rested on Rusl stopping Link from having sex with Mipha, which meant he was doomed to have a forty-year-old virgin living with him until the day he died.
This was clearly a lose-lose situation for Rusl.
Aryll giggled. “Dad?”
He looked up and met her gaze. She was standing beside him, watching him with her head cocked slightly.
“Hm?”
“What are you doing?”
“Uh.”
“You were staring at the newspaper and making funny faces.” She giggled again.
Rusl sighed. “I… just have a lot on my mind.”
She frowned. “Is it about Link?”
Rusl hesitated. “Just Dad things,” he said with a sigh.
“Oh.” She paused, then offered him a smile. “Anything I can help with?”
Rusl returned her smile. “Just keep doing you, kiddo.”
Aryll grinned. “Okay!”
At that moment, they heard feet running down the stairs, and they turned their attention to Link and Mipha as they darted through the house and outside without a word to them. Aryll shouted enthusiastically to them as the door slammed behind them. Rusl’s brows furrowed and he picked up his phone. There was no message from Impa or Dorian. He made his way to the door, listening as Link and Mipha spoke before they took off into the night. He leaned against the counter, his mind racing. He immediately dialed Impa’s number.
“What’s going on?” he said as soon as she answered.
“Rusl,” she started.
“You didn’t tell me -”
“We weren’t expecting an attack!” she snapped at him.
“Link is on his way there now.”
Impa huffed loudly. “I suspected as much.”
“I’m coming.”
“No,” she snapped. “Stay out of this.”
“Excuse me?”
“Tell me,” Impa started. “Have you told your son that you’ve re-enlisted?”
“That doesn’t -”
“You’re on thin ice with me, Rusl,” she growled. “The media is everywhere. The world cannot see what you are capable of.”
Rusl swallowed. “I won’t -”
“Don’t pretend you won’t do what you have to do to keep him safe,” she said, her voice soft. “Leave that job to us. Understood?”
Rusl’s brows furrowed, but he did not argue further with her. Impa took the opportunity to end their call.
“I’ll be in touch,” she said simply.
Rusl set the phone on the counter. He met his daughter’s gaze, and she smiled at him.
“Everything will be okay,” she said.
He forced a smile. He knew Impa was right. There was nothing he could do in that moment, and he certainly couldn’t leave Aryll alone, anyway.
“Yeah,” he said. “You’re right.”
“But we can have ice cream and stuff if it will make you feel better.”
“You know what? That probably will.”
He was grateful for the distraction his daughter offered him, and to his surprise, it was only a few hours before Link and Mipha made their return, relatively unscathed. Aryll was too enthralled by her movie to even notice their entrance, and Rusl only briefly glanced at them as they hurried back upstairs wordlessly. His gaze lingered on the doorway where they disappeared for a moment until his phone vibrated from an incoming text from Dorian.
Everything is fine.
Rusl hardly felt reassured, even though he had seen for himself that his son had survived another hero mission.
What’s going on?
It took a few minutes before Dorian responded. Let’s talk tomorrow.
Rusl stared at the response for a moment. He didn’t like the suggested tone of the message, but perhaps he was reading too much into it. Dorian would fill him in. He promised to keep him in the loop.

Dorian quickly pocketed his phone. The attack on the city was unexpected, even for Impa, just as Kohga had planned. The distraction gave his soldiers enough time to open the third portal at the Forgotten Temple. Now, Kohga’s men stood by, waiting for the heroes to make their way to it.
Dorian looked up as Kohga entered the base and approached him in the round room. They stood alone, the banners fluttering lightly as a dry breeze passed through.
“The portal at the Forgotten Temple has been opened,” Dorian said.
Kohga smiled. “Excellent,” he said. “The attack on the city was a success, then?”
“Completely,” Dorian confirmed.
“And Impa?”
“She has no suspicions.”
“Good.” He held his gaze on Dorian. “Where is the last portal?”
“I don’t know,” Dorian admitted, holding his gaze.
Kohga’s gaze narrowed on him, studying him for a moment. His lips pulled into a small smile. “But, perhaps Impa does, no?”
“All that is known about the last portal is that it is already open.” Judging by his change in demeanor, this was news to Kohga. Dorian continued. “The portal was opened when Link found the Master Sword.” It was clear Kohga was waiting for him to continue, so he did. “I do not believe Link and Zelda are aware of this. However, I do not know where the sword was found.”
“I want the location,” Kohga hissed. “Find it. And let me know as soon as you do. I want that portal guarded at all times.” Kohga turned his back on him. “And Dorian,” he continued. “What do you know of the Hylian with the power to take out half my damn army?”
Dorian remained calm and collected as Kohga studied him over his shoulder. However, he had not known about the events that took place on the mission Rusl was sent on. “He is the father of the hero. His name is Rusl.”
Kohga held his gaze on him for a moment, then nodded. “I understand he is warded?”
“That’s correct.”
“And he’s in Roham’s army. You know of him.”
“Yes.”
“Excellent.” Kohga moved to the door. “Lure him out of the city. I want him alive. And I’m sure our hero will want that, too.” He smiled before leaving Dorian alone in the room.
Dorian held his gaze on the banner as it flapped behind Kohga. After a moment, he was gone in a snap.
