Me: I am normal about the internal political structure of nations on fire emblem Awakening.

Also me: Okay, so from the village dialogue in chapter 8, we know that despite Grima being the main deity of worship, average plegians don't seem to like the Grimleal. Implying that the Grimleal are either weirdo fundies that no one really likes but they have an out sized influence on the government or Plegia is polytheistic and they worship gods related to their occupation and Grima is the god you worship if you're a dark mage or you want their blessing in war (god of destruction and all). Awakening characters do say Gods (plural) when they sware, meaning that multiple gods are consistent with Archneaian theology. Chrom’s father is stated to have labeled the Plegian people heathens likely because the Grimleal gained influence in whatever hierarchy rules Plegia. We know it's likely semi democratic because Gangrel supposedly worked his way up from being a street urchin to the position of king. Because it's stated to be a theocracy, it's likely similar to how catholics elected the pope via the collage of cardinals.

Here is my sketch of Callisto- A.K.A. the constellation Ursa Major!

As the myth goes, Callisto was a nymph in Artemis's sacred entourage of female hunters. There are many versions of this tale involving how she was tricked, who turned Callisto into a bear, how her son died, and how she died. In fact, some say the myth dates all the way back to prehistoric times.

Callisto, Καλλιστώ, means "Most Beautiful" in greek. Artemis was called 'Artemis Kalliste' - Artemis the most beautiful. Many say this is how Callisto got her name. The ancient city of Arcadia was named after Arcas(Αρκάς), the little bear.

For fun, I based my sketch on Epiphany from Xena the Warrior Princess, who also has an animal son and a tragic story.

PJO fanfic readers, here is a question for you.

This is my newest fanfic idea that has been living in my head rent-free. Basically a combination of this post and me giving the minor gods the love they deserve.

The Olympians have always had their heroes. It used to be Hercules and Theseus. Achilles and Patroclus. Aeneas and Odysseus. Romulus and Remus. In the 21st century, it happened to be Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase.

But the minor gods… The minor gods never had anyone until Viola Summercket.

(Alternatively: A daughter of Athena with a knack for defying expectations baffles the minor deities into semi-adopting her)

This is happening. But I am stuck on the form and I need your help.

Option one is twelve short chapters (4000-5000 words) from a different minor deity's pov.

Option two is a series of snapshots all bound together in the same 20k fic exploring the relationships and dynamics between the minor gods and Viola, my OC.

Thoughts, ideas and suggestions welcome!

Artemis Quick Facts

Some of my notes from the books and papers I've read about Artemis.

In the 2nd century at the capital of the Roman province of Asia, Ephesus, Artemis was publicly declared to be "forever the greatest of all the gods".

Her name's etymology is unknown, likely pre-Greek. Her name was popularly believed to mean "healthy", meaning she makes people feel safe and healthy.

Artemis was extremely popular goddess, one of the most popular Greco-Roman gods.

Pausanias notes: "But all cities worship Artemis of Ephesus, and individuals hold her in honor above all the gods…" (4.31.8)

Dr. Rietveld described Artemis Ephesia as an "universal goddess".

Artemis subsumed and was amalgamated with many goddesses, including Kybele, Hekate, and Isis.

She was widely seen as a compassionate and loving god, as she’s always willing to listen and respond to the needs of her people.

She was popularly seen as a goddess of protection and life.

She was famous throughout the Roman Empire for her vivid manifestations, in real life and in dreams.

Hence many sanctuaries, shrines, altars, and temples were built in her honor.

From countless thanksgiving writings she was called "Our Lady".

Her sanctuaries and temples were typically asylum sites.

She's the only Greco-Roman god with the Zodiac on her cult image.

Hence as "Queen of the Cosmos" she has transcendent powers over the cosmos, and Fate.

As Mistress Salvation, Artemis can save her people from their unfortunate fate. It's possible that through the mysteries she can give people a blessed afterlife.

The relationship between Artemis and her worshippers was a divinely directed covenant relationship, born out of genuine affection towards Artemis.

Popularly Called: Queen of the Cosmos, Heavenly Queen, Savior, Our Lady, Mistress Salvation, and Fate Goddess.
