uploading commentary/annotation on each section of my mbti analysis thing. here goes.
Priding myself on unique perceptiveness and vigorous intellect? Absolutely. It's my biggest point of pride, and it's the number one thing I get compliments on, second being creativity and third being appearance.
I do indeed hardly ever stop thinking, and I wake up with my brain SCREAMING for me to write down the most recent dream or search up a random thing I'm curious about, occasionally both. And I do in fact debate with myself, as well as just talking to myself to make decisions and sometimes reprimand myself for certain things. I am in fact endlessly fascinated with my own mind. I know myself best and even I have barely scratched the surface of whatever the hell is going on in there. I do become very fixated and focused on a task, and if that task is a person, WELL; a lot of people tell me I'm too much and it's been a point of self doubt to be honest. But my therapist told me those people are simply too little. And it's helped me to remind myself that other people not being able to handle me for simply being me doesn't mean there's something wrong with the way I am/my personality.
And oh yes the CONNECTION. When I'm locked into a convo with someone who really stimulates my brain I get so excited sometimes I do the happy hand stims. My logical leaps getting verbalized and them matching that energy <33 ngh, one of the best feelings.
OH YES pattern analysis. GOD I LOVE JUST FIGURING EVERYTHING OUT ABOUT A THING. And yeah it's a bad idea to lie to me, not only am I observant and logical I'm also a Traumatized Individual [TM] and I can smell lies, bad moods, and manipulation from a mile away. Although I will occasionally simply let someone believe they're manipulating or taking advantage of me because it's a very fun and fascinating thing to watch from inside. Though it does annoy me when people get guilty for thinking they're "taking advantage of me" when I'm down or unstable or whatever. I'm a grownass man, and you're only doing this because I am specifically deciding to let you. I do have many theories and ideas, some of which I haven't finished thinking through. But I am completely honest, I don't tell lies, though if needed I will tell a half-truth for convenience and to minimize conflict. I don't tend to play devil's advocate on important moral topics, though unimportant things like opinion, sure, why not. I can try to see a different pov and explain something from that pov but I'm not going to act like certain illogical and cruel things are okay just to play the role.
I do in fact spend all day musing about ideas and possibilities; when I'm not practicing escapism. And yeah everyday work is hard, putting work into things over time gets boring and I lose interest fast if it doesn't stay engaging. Hence why I generally write stories in one go and edit along the way, never to return to them again. Fat chance I'm going to work on a fic or poem or story or song for more than the day I came up with it. And I am in fact a creative problem-solver. Though I've learned that not everyone actually WANTS to solve problems, sometimes they just want to let them sit there and continue being harmful. I am /sometimes/ baffled with human emotion. I have very large emotions myself (suspect it is due to the adhd) but I only really understand things I can relate to in some way or other. And even then sometimes my brain just glitches with other people and I don't really know what to do because I generally put logic first and am not sure how to react to someone who completely throws logic to the wind and acts on emotion alone (which is not as romantic and good and right as it sounds; emotions can be destructive). For example; someone's angry at their girlfriend so they start saying things that imply they hate /all/ women. While I can understand and empathize with being angry with a close one, I can't for the life of me understand letting emotions take the wheel that strongly to the point where you ignore the very obvious logic that not all women are the same and not every woman is your girlfriend.
Usually I offer support in things I know I can do for them like provide physical comfort, take them out for comfort food/activities or stay in with them and do something that comforts them, advise them if I have sufficient knowledge and experience in the topic, reassure them if that will help. I've found it's best to ask first what they think can help them even though my instinct is to help first and ask later. It used to be an issue until I started getting a better handle on emotions and instincts. Though occasionally I will be caught completely out of my depth and not know how to even begin to respond to a certain situation concerning other people's emotions. Like when someone feels like they're ugly; I'm not sure what to do; I can try to compliment them and tell them what I personally think and be specific, I can try to distract them, but I logically know that I cannot change the way someone thinks or feels about themselves quite so easily. And the fact that there may really be nothing I can do that will actually help can freeze me sometimes, especially with the memories of the times I've tried to help and fucked up/overstepped. And yeah, "analysis paralysis" is one way to say it lol. I get so stuck thinking about a thing I forget to actually do anything. Like when am I gonna do this housework? When am I gonna write? I don't know how to make a good plan so I'm just gonna lay here and do absolutely nothing.

How would you change Fallout 4?
Okay so this is a long one so it’s under the cut
As I’ve mentioned before, I would make the main plot focus on synths as a metaphor for McCarthyism (and to a lesser extent transness). This is assuming a magical world where I have full creative control over a main game in a major franchise. The main character would either be a wastelander (with optional traits to be an escaped synth, mind-wiped or not) OR if we’re going with the Sole Survivor then it would confirm the Sole is a synth theory; if the game’s going to make roleplay decisions for me, at least let them be thematically satisfying and cool.
The four faction companions would all be synths (Sturges, Danse, X6, and Glory) and would all represent a different take on synths in society. Danse would be basically the same, synth who doesn’t know it, self-hating, forced to change through self-acceptance or die in Blind Betrayal. The main change would be significantly changed behavior after BB and a chance to join the Minutemen or Railroad. Glory would be a synth who knows she’s a synth, and is very concerned with synth welfare and autonomy. X6 is a synth who has been mind wiped several times by the Institute due to his increased contact with the outside world. As he travels with the main character, there are decision points where X6 raises concerns about “glitches” (developing a personality as he gains experiences) and the player can decide whether to wipe his mind again or continue to travel with him. Before max affinity, he will ask for your help escaping the institute once again, you can complete his quest or you can turn him over to be mind wiped. Sturges is a synth with a Railroad identity, but who has traumatic memories resurfacing after the attack on Quincy. He is stuck between the true, harmful memories of the Institute or the false, comforting memories of his invented life.
In general the synth’s exploitation by the institute veers away from the slavery metaphor that’s in the game. Robots address labor issues very well and the slavery thing was weird and bad, so we’re moving away from that.
Mind wipes are much more controversial, much more like how they’re portrayed in Far Harbor. Characters like Glory who are mostly opposed to them see them as destruction of identity, not quite murder, but something that should only be done in dire circumstances. Those who are for it, Desdemona and Deacon, see it as a tool for helping synths hide and covering up painful memories (imperfect, as Sturges shows), and that there is an ineffable self that persists between wipes. It’s a source of tension even within the Railroad.
The Institute doesn’t have synth spies, but it does have human spies. The idea that the institute would 1) put synths in charge of major cities while still claiming they aren’t sentient and 2) put their constantly-escaping labor force on the surface with minimal supervision always bothered me. Institute agents foment anti-synth movements on the surface and sabotage synth sympathetic communities.
However, synth paranoia still totally exists. The combination of institute interference and the presence of freed synths, the public is terrified that their friends could be replaced by synths. In reality, the “confirmed” replacements were freed synths who either died (and evidence of them being a synth was found on death) or felt that it was safe to admit to others that they were a synth. No body snatching actually ever existed.
McDonough is a regular wasteland human, a corrupt Boston politician. He made his political career on anti-ghoul fearmongering, but after kicking the ghouls out of Diamond City he needed a new target. He is not associated with the institute, but since he began targeting synths he has received monthly campaign donations. He started the synth activities committee to investigate suspected synth sympathies among the citizens of Diamond City and its surrounding neighborhoods.
That’s the main plot stuff but for companions the main changes are:
Preston is a faction leader, not a companion. He’s very involved and has the same character arc, but the quests he gives are less radiant and more focused, with a plot moving forward.
Hancock is not a companion either, and is less of a good guy than in the game. Goodneighbor’s government serves as a condemnation of the founding father’s idea of freedom and that kind of American libertarianism. (Really, he’s an anarchist but also immortal mayor-for-life?)
Piper is a blacklisted journalist and the most vocal critic of McDonough’s anti-synth policies. She’s somewhere between an Edward R Murrow-esque anti-McCarthyist and an underground journalist. She’s a little more self-admittedly editorial and is openly for using journalism to change hearts and minds. She’s also a better writer than in the actual game.
Curie is a Mister Handy instead of a Miss Nanny because I find the concept of a girl Mister Handy that does the housework (especially when that’s already what Mister Handys do?) a bit silly. She voices more of a desire to be human and have control over her own body, rather than just “I want to do zee science better.” She even admires the player character if she is a woman. You can go the regular in-game route (with strong objections and disapproval from Glory, who doesn’t like to see someone she was close to inhabited by someone else) or you can use the institute to print a synth body for Curie. This route can be done under the guise of an “experiment” if you are part of the Institute (although some scientists may question the scientific value of such a plan) or you can get Liam Binet’s help if you’ve made contact with him as a spy for the Railroad. If you print Curie a body, it will be created based on her self-perception, and will look different from her body if you use the wiped synth route.
Ada and Codsworth can have a synth body printed as well, to Ada’s ambivalence and Codsworth’s objections. This can only be done if you are allied with the institute; Binet won’t help if your companion doesn’t seem to want to be a synth. There is no benefit to doing this.
Nick Valentine was a private detective pre-war, not a cop. After the Eddie Winter quest, which skips the collect-a-thon part, Nick wants to solve a case that is all his own, an unsolved wasteland murder that was the first case he had walk away from.

Write anything you want for hobo heart. Or anyone it doesn't matter as long as you have fun doing it.
Thank you for this~ It meant a lot that you took my opinion into account :]
SOME RANDOM CREEP HEADCANONS ABOUT THEIR PHYSICAL TRAITS
Hobo has his wings on his back, and they're somewhat special. When fully extended they're quite huge, over 20 feet from wing tip to wing tip, which means they take up a bunch of space. Hobo, because of this, has the ability to partially retract his wings inside his body, although he can't retract the entirety of his wings inside.
I've made the executive decision to CHANGE one of my previous headcanons. I've been personalizing my creeps for a while, and I've decided to change one for Natalie. Originally, I said she had her clock removed and replaced with a glass eye because it was getting infections. Well, I'm making the headcanon that she never HAD a clock in her eye in the first place, and rather than someone had removed her eye the night of her incident, and she later went on to get a glass eye.
Jeff's smile is stitched shut. I've seen a few blogs that still have him refreshing up his smile, but if I'm being honest, I can't see someone like my Jeff that's so traumatized wanting to relive something as triggering as recarving his smile. So, he stitched it shut for good after joining the mansion to avoid getting infections because it DID get infected badly. The scars still vibrantly remain because of how deep they were, and he's lost feeling in part of his cheeks from sliced nerves. ALSO! Jeff never burned his eyelids on my blog, please remember that.
LJ's claws are retractable. He can make them normal nail length, or stretch them out up to an extra four inches into claws that are quite long and intimidating to deal with, so you shouldn't make him angry. He can also expand his tongue, stretching it out and making it appear snake-like for extra added intimidating.
BEN can "glitch out" in the physical world. If his emotions get out of control or he's trying to be dorky and funny, he can make little "animations" surround him, or if he's angry, he appears to be glitching out like a glitching computer program, surrounded by randomly flashing pixels. He can also alter his physical state to appear smaller/cartoonish/like different variations of Link, although his true form doesn't look exactly like Link at all.
Jane doesn't have a mask on my blog. I'm still fleshing out her backstory, but my Jane, if I had to compare her to another, is closest to Jane Richardson, who physically looks the way she does, although my Jane isn't similar to hers in any other way, well, minus the fact that I headcanon her as a lesbian. She DOES have burn scars, NOT FROM JEFF(!!!), but from when she ran into a house fire to save her parents. These are mainly on her arms and legs, and she has very minimal facial scarring.
Slender has a physical "human-like" form he can transform into, and he often does if he has business in the human world. I also imagine this is the form he takes on when he's being romantic with his partner and kissing them since his eldritch form doesn't, you know, have a mouth or any other facial features. He still retains the ability to use his tendrils in this form, although it hurts more because they have to burst through his "human" flesh.

Deltarune Chapter 2, Just finished and here are some thoughts:
Tumblr media
Ralsei isn't a Darkner, but he's not able to exist in the Lightner World.
Darkners are reinterpretations, reimaginings, and dreams of things that exist in the Lightner World. They turn to stone in other Fountains (the concept solidifies and becomes unchanging) or they turn into mundane objects (like cards and junk) because outside of the theme of their own recontextualization they don't exist. The Dark is a form of exegis, a way of recreating the 'game' world.
This raises the question: Why can they exist in Ralsei's fountain? What is his fountain reinterpreting? -- My theory is his fountain is aware of and a recontextualization of the Game "Undertale 2" - so anything within the game, including the reinterpretations it creates, can persist there.
Each fountain, each Chapter is just the same game being retold, replayed again - because the world is still Undertale and is just presenting itself with the same themes, the same structure, and the same 'choices' like Pacifist/Genocide because it is expected to - because it was originally built to before the changes.
Whatever Kris is, whatever is using the fountains is doing so to keep the Lightner world from progressing forward. We the player have a game menu, interactions, choices - all of that in the Lightner world - but the plot in the Lightner world is allowed to progress according to its script only with minimal change. The times we would be interacting with and changing the plot, we're always pulled into the Dark Worlds - to solve a crisis that repeats, always with the same outcomes.
The only one telling us we have to close the fountain, and the only one telling us the world will end if we don't - is Ralsei.
Most of the more powerful characters in the game...like Jevil, Seam, and now Spamton - are aware of their realities being rewritten and of what happened in the time of ROARING that Ralsei promised would happen if the Dark takes over. All of these characters are outliers who couldn't be fully rewritten - whatever process is keeping the world stagnant and reset has failed on them.
Jevil is in an infinite loop, and the Dark has him quarantined.
Seam was torn apart and recompiled.
Spamton seems to be two beings, corrupted as one copied over the other. He's the Spambot from the Lightner world, and the Car Salesman from the Dark - and as a program, as either form, he's aware of his STRINGS - the lines of code that bind him to the Game.
These are things that happen when a program fails to execute, or glitches out.
All of these 'error' characters seem aware of 'Chaos', and of existing before the current iteration of their game loop.
I think Ralsei is still Asriel -- I think he's still the Asriel that was Flowey, actually. I think he or someone inadvertently helping him (like Gaster) - has rewritten the actual Undertale 2 into the world of 'Deltarune' (anagrams as a theme, remixing existing components) - a world where Asriel is away for college and not trapped forever in the Dark. A world where everyone loves and remembers him fondly - waiting for his return at the end of the week for the Festival.
Asriel is supposed to be the older brother, but Ralsei seems to be the same age as Asriel had 'died' in Undertale - the same child we see in the field of flowers. Does an older version of Asriel actually exist? I think Ralsei, or possibly someone else, has created a story where he gets to keep a looping world where his death and Flowey never happened - but maybe he can't return at the end of the 7 days?
De-termination. Undoing Death. Maybe the process here is incomplete or corruptible?
I think whatever is modifying the world - they used the 'Dark' to rewrite the world and reinterpret its components, to Re-Determine what's going to happen. I think every time a Player/SOUL shows up to affect their choices on the world and progress the plot, they sideline them with the worlds created in the Dark as a sort of treadmill, to keep them from playing the game that originally existed in the Lightner World and actually 'completing' the 7 day story.
We're told repeatedly by the metastructure of the game, and by presumably GASTER at the Survey_Program opening - that choices don't matter in this world. Every time we are given one, it's either discarded immediately, or affects nothing permanent in the Light World - only the Dark.
I think this is our antagonist, convincing us that the SOUL can't have an affect on the outcome because they don't want it to - they want this reality to continue, for the Dark to consume the world at the end, and for their reality to rewrite itself again so as to draw energy from it, from all the SOULS that run through the program/universe when they play the game again.
I presume it may be Gaster (or whoever narrated the Survey Program, but we're pretty sure that's Gaster, right?) as the 'behind the curtain villain' - I think Ralsei/Asriel may be playing into this loop or helping them, not realizing what's really happening or now unwilling to stop it after the first rewrite - because they don't want to be alone in the dark anymore like they were at the end of Undertale. I think Ralsei is sincere in his desire to close the other fountains, but I think he's unaware that the force creating them wants the ROARING to happen.
I think Kris, once it was determined he was the Vessel, was modified in the 'bunker' to be pliable, to be able to remove the SOUL. It's either the character of Kris (who, if you act out of character or pick dialogues that are kind, is called out by other characters for being different after the player takes over) - or whatever is controlling that vessel other than the Player/SOUL, that is creating the Dark Fountains and sidelining the progression and keeping the SOUL from modifying anything in the Lightner world. I think this process traumatized the real Kris, the character he was before we step in - because it seems clear from other characters he is terrified of that bunker.
A bunker which is a mystery to every character in the town so far.
By his character, I believe there is a second SOUL inside Kris, or something very similar (possibly an artificial version of a SOUL) that is the source of the Roaring Knight. It may also be that he was rewritten to be 'controlled' in this way - hence the underlying personality being so quiet, reclusive, and traumatized/repressed.
My guess is the titles here, like Knight, and Roaring, are phonetic plays on what is actually happening. Kris is the Knight, or the Night - periods of time when the SOUL can be sidelined and whatever our antagonist is can affect change and create the fountains. I think the Roaring is the Rearranging or Reordering, maybe? I'm not as certain on that one.
What Ralsei describes as the Roaring is an opening of too many fountains - the light world enveloped in total Darkness (full reinterpretation or system collapse) - and the emerging of TITANS from these fountains that devastate the world, shaped by their own fountains - leaving the Lightners alone in darkness and solidifying the darkners. I think the ROARING is a form of program crash, or total rewrite.
I think Ralsei may be disingenuous here - he doesn't want too many fountains to open - but he will never close his own. I think he is aware of what was before Deltarune, since he knows about the ROARING - and is trying this time to keep his favorable world going maybe?
It's hard to tell if he's working with or against the Roaring Knight (or their controller) - I think he wants to keep his world of friends and heroism, his Role-Reinterpretation from Undertale 2. I think he sincerely wants to close the other fountains, because the result he describes is what he had originally as Asriel, and Asriel could not have a role in Undertale 2 without this rewrite - as Asriel Dreemur he would've been Lost eternally in an endless night...
I love this interpretation because it plays into the nature of Dreamer/Dreemur (the Dark is the dream of the world that could be, and he is it's Prince), the nature of sequels in general (what we want and expect as an audience vs what would be organic to the characters), and a sort of meta-text about what an artist can do with a sequel (you can reinterpret, but not by much, never in a way that is unrecognizable and thus enchained to the original).
Undertale was a game with characters aware they were in a game.
Deltarune is a game so far where it seems characters are aware they are in a sequel.
Phenomenal, Mr. Fox!
--
This is a bit rambling but I had a lot I wanted to write down and it's super late. I might revise this later.

That earlier post got me thinking about the difference between Horde Prime’s anger, and Hordak’s. Namely in terms of where it comes from and what its purpose is. Because my word, but there is a discrepancy, and it’s the sort of thing that I feel sheds quite a bit of light on how differently the two of them see the world.
Tumblr media
When we meet Horde Prime, he is the picture of calm and collected, the classic affably evil villain who appears entirely in control of everything. And for a good portion of his time in the story, he is. He controls what we understand to be a vast empire. He controls the physical, mental, and emotional lives of countless clones who worship him entirely. He is totally in command of everything he interacts with.
Tumblr media
So when we see his first angry outburst, it is less an “outburst” and more a targeted weapon. Horde Prime turns his vicious ire onto a trembling, pleading Hordak specifically to frighten him. To dominate him. To terrorize and punish him for the moral crime of taking a name and exerting his will. There is no loss of control here; once Hordak is dealt with, Prime calmly returns to his default cool, collected state. He is entirely the master of this situation, and when he exhibits anger, it is specifically to harm someone over whom he has power.
An important aspect of this, one that differs from what we see in Hordak and adds a significant level of cruelty to Prime, is that he is so legitimately mighty that this sort of fear-based punishment has nothing to do with self defense or personal safety. It truly appears geared towards inflicting suffering on others for his own glorification. Essentially: when he turns his anger on Hordak, it is not because Hordak poses any sort of actual threat that needs to be fought off. It is purely to hurt him in a way that strokes Prime’s ego.
Tumblr media
This use of anger, of violence, to hurt and punish others seems to be the chief purpose Prime has for the emotion. Granted, as the show continues and he loses his dominant position due to our heroes’ efforts, his expressions of anger fall more in line with frustrated outbursts, but to my mind, this is the exception rather than the norm for him. After all, he has been dominant for so, so long. And because he has been comfortably in charge, he has had little to be frustrated about. Thus, Prime’s anger is largely a weapon of manipulation and enforced fear, rather than a reaction to a lack of control until the very latter portion of the series.
Now: Hordak.
Tumblr media
Hordak is very different. Hordak, given the deeply unfortunate circumstances he faces, has had everything to be frustrated about: his illness, his failed projects, his precarious leadership position. And because of these things, particularly said precarious leadership position, he does not enjoy the easy dominance that Prime enjoys. Every moment Hordak spends in command of the Etherian Horde is one during which he has to hide his defect and maintain the facade of all-powerful ruler. It is a stressful thing that threatens to fall apart the moment his ruse falters, not only shaming him but putting him in potentially great physical danger.
which... y’know... happens in season four via Catra; so not a false worry
Because of this, Hordak exhibits anger far more constantly than Prime; he is almost perpetually grumpy, ready to snarl at a moment’s notice since his reasons for anger are ever-present. Furthermore, he uses said anger less as a tool to hurt people for his own personal pleasure and more as a negative coping mechanism combined with a method of personal defense.
Tumblr media
The negative coping mechanism is probably what we see most often: whenever things don’t go Hordak’s way, he lashes out. The most common casualty of this is a piece of property (RIP lil’ green wrench) rather than an actual person, strongly marking this form of anger as one used to vent frustration rather than to influence others in any way. Hordak, along with his brothers, functions under a doctrine of minimizing emotional expression. As a result, his ability to cope with negative experiences via a healthy expression of the resulting emotions is heavily stunted, leading to the outbursts we see. It’s not a positive aspect of his character by any means, but it is an understandable one: he never learned how to manage failure and disappointment in a constructive way, so he suppresses the related emotions until they come to a head and manifest in violent anger.
Tumblr media
This is akin to what Prime exhibits in the late stages of his life, but because Hordak constantly experiences such vexing frustration, he expresses this sort of anger far more consistently than Prime does, to the point that I would hazard to say that it is his norm.
Tumblr media
Now, looking at Hordak expressing anger and using violence targeting other people, we again can see that he differs from Prime. Prime, as stated before, has all of the power and thus no real need for this sort of violence-based maintenance of control and self-defense. When he wields his anger, it is to cause hurt. Hordak? Hordak has that fragile leadership standing alongside a frightening lack of personal agency, and so he does use his anger to attempt to maintain both. He wields it both to protect himself from people and to regain control when he loses it. Various instances come to mind (besides him trying to drive Entrapta out of his sanctum via Yelling (c)).
Tumblr media
One involves Adora in the moments leading up to the portal activation at the end of season three. When Adora threatens to thwart Hordak’s plans and utters that awful word, “fail,” he reacts. He reacts to two things: the concept of Adora has a dangerous enemy, and the loss of control over his own life via the threat of failure. When he turns his anger on her (and later displaces it onto Entrapta when said anger causes his armor to glitch) it is to combat these two adversarial things in order to maintain his own safety and stability. Hurting Adora as some sort of twisted moral punishment is not the intent here; protecting himself, from both physical and emotional threats, is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another instance involves throwing machinery and yelling at Catra after the portal incident, once she mentions Entrapta. This marks another moment of Hordak combating the sense of losing control. He experiences emotional pain due to Entrapta’s mention, likely suffering feelings of loss and shame and abandonment, and in order to regain control over the situation, to feel less vulnerable, he directs his anger at the source of discomfort: Catra.
Tumblr media
In a similar instance, he throws a chip at Imp when the little spy teases him with Entrapta’s name, again seeking to defend himself against the unpleasant feelings her memory brings.
Tumblr media
When Shadow Weaver and the Princesses invade his Sanctum, he loses composure and turns furious, throwing a column at them in an attempt to defend himself and his most private quarters.
Tumblr media
He does the same once he learns of Catra’s lies, erupting into a true rage once she further prods at his insecurities by asserting that Prime will not want him due to his being a defective mistake.
Over and over, Hordak uses his anger to both protect himself from potentially dangerous people and to attempt to regain control over situations he feels are slipping from his grasp. Often when facing increased personal vulnerability. All of these moments show this very different set of reasons for expressing this potentially violent emotion compared to Prime.
It’s an interesting contrast, isn’t it? And one that serves to highlight the very different lives these two characters lead: one a cruel cult leader who has almost unfathomable power over his worshipers, the other a traumatized man trying to obtain power and security and stability in a life where he has nearly none. And their anger provides an intriguing lens through which to assess this contrast.

HC Character study #1
Random character study to get some interactions down since certain characters aren’t behaving as expected D<!!! This has no beta, it’s just a study after all. But, I figured it would be better to post it here than let it rot away in my folders.
The sun was steadily rising in the sky, the day stretched out before him as he bounced around the camp gathering saplings, leaves and bits of bone meal. Area 77 was getting serious in their (Doc’s) attempts to spy on the Hippies and Grian was happy to take up the challenge.
Not that Doc has outright issued a challenge but the point simply stood; Grian was being told no and he was adamant about yes.
But spying was an advantage that the HIB did not need, and a nice forest and cliff side would be sufficient enough to make things difficult. And spruce up the camp a bit more.
It took most of the morning to set up the base of the natural fence, saplings were always unpredictable in their growth and Grian was p a r t i c u l a r about how things shaped out. Very particular as this was possibly the third time within the quarter hour that he had flown up into the air to get a look at how things were going.
Third time’s the charm, as it went.
“Something is missing…”
He gently circled in the air, taking in every angle he could think of, as he stared at the outline of his fence. Another rocket for height and he floating upside down a bit with little less luck than before.
Facing up at the blue sky for a moment his attention was pulled away by a shape, small and distant, making its way straight down towards the strange portal Doc was in the process of making. Grian waited a few moments before realizing that the shape was getting closer to the ground and he could make out flailing limbs and a very, very human appearance.
Not thinking beyond instincts he fired three rockets and swooped closer, circling around before firing another rocket to pitch himself downwards. He pulled up short and with a grunt caught whomever in his arms and let their momentum carry both of them towards the river just beyond Scar’s cliff. The splash was impressive, managing to even startle a few cows out of the way.
“Ow, ow, ow!” Splash down or not, catching a plummeting object still left sore shoulders. He was going to need something for that once he got back to camp. “I thought the glitches were done with.” Hermits respawning in mid-air was not the usual and Grian made a mental note to pester Xisuma about it later on. “Are you alright?”
“Y-yeah...geez, that sucked.”
“....” The voice was painfully familiar. “Uhm…” There was no way the voice could really be who Grian knew it to be. This was a private server and Xisuma always consulted the other Hermits before bringing someone new in.
Quickly rubbing the water off his face and pushing his wet hair out of his eyes he stared at the slowly, clearing sight before him.
A man, slightly younger than him, sat absolutely soaked before him. Brown curls hung tight against his forehead and...and the stark white rabbit ears that dripped water. The hoodie was gone but reddish eyes blinked at him. Surprise came into them as well and all Grian could do, was stare.
“G-gree-an!? It...wait.” The slighter man rubbed his head, then his eyes, then stared at Grian again before glaring. “Dude, what the hell! What did you do?”
Oh.
It was him.
“Hi, Sam.”
~~~**~~~
They’d managed to sloosh out of the water, drying off a bit and Sam wiggling out of his wet over shirt. Shoes, socks and shirts laid on the grass to dry but Grian had refused to unhitch his scabbard.
“I seriously feel like you’re gonna stab me. Can you put it away or I dunno throw it in the river?”
“Me stab you? Oh that would be rich all things considered.”
Sam rolled his eyes. That had been so long ago! Worlds away! Literally!
At least Grian was a familiar face. Everything else about the day was strange and concerning and made that constant buzz in his head even worse. He was wet and lost and the only help he had was the man he once called a friend and who now hated his very guts.
“Okay, okay, fine. But really, where am I? This isn’t Tokyo and for once nothing weird happened.” He paused, furrowing his brow in thought. No, he was pretty sure nothing strange had happened to him that morning. It had...actually been kind of boring.
“Hermitcraft.”
“Huh?”
Grian rolled his eyes again but at least his arms were crossed, which made Sam feel like he’d get away with minimal stabbing.
“You’re in Hermitcraft. In the latest world we’re colonizing for the Mains.” Sam wrinkled his nose at that. He knew Grian loved building (and he was good at it too, even Sam would admit) but colonizing worlds was sooo much work.
“So why am I here? I’m not a colonizer- wait, you didn’t do this right?”
“No! Why would I want you here anyways?”
That was rough, honest, but rough. But that had always been Grian. “Come on, you know you miss me!” He was scared and lost, the teasing was familiar. Old and covered with a strange ache he always pushed away, but it was familiar. And he clung to that.
“As if. If I’d known it was you falling, I would have pulled out popcorn, not more rockets.”
Sam grinned, snickering a bit before sighing and sitting on the grass.
“Sam?” Grian’s tone was way more curious than concerned, but Sam pretended it wasn’t.
“Sorry, dude. I kinda got used to there not being so much weirdness around since we, you know. The whole reset thing?” He flinched at that. If anything had been traumatic it had been the realization that they were absolutely alone. Just them. And then he’d lost Them too. He shook his head, ignoring the high pitched giggle that suddenly came from his throat.
“Sam, calm down. I can not have you going ape right now.” Grian’s hand had gone back to the fancy sword at his hip but Sam could feel that he was at least closer. He nodded though, picking his head up to look up at Grian.
The Brit looked...different. Not in the ‘oh, you dyed your hair!’ sort of way. It was more...subtle. He looked, relaxed- open and stood straighter and definitely not as scrawny as he’d been in high school.
“You’re staring. Stop it.” Grian thwacked him.
“Ow!” He rubbed his shoulder, glaring up at Grian before smirking, “Sorry! I just can’t look away from the stupid. I mean, really man? Flowers?”
“I’m a hippie!”
Something snapped at that- the tension, fear and panic bubbling over and Sam fell over into a laughing fit. Tears streamed down his face and he sobbed through the laughter. Hysterics, hysteria? Something like that but he couldn’t figure it out right now. Because right now he was fighting to pull himself back in- just like he’d had to for years now- pull back, hold back….don’t say the wrong thing and just breathe. Breathing was good. Breathing helped.
But so did the slightly awkward hand rubbing between his shoulder blades and the pained voice whispering his name.
He never knew how long these attacks lasted but this one felt shorter and soon he was just sobbing. That helped with the breathing, which helped to bring the buzz back down until he was hiccupping and trying not to cling to Grian who looked absolutely terrified but wasn’t going after that sword. No, his hands were on Sam’s shoulders and he was trying.
“T-thanks.” He snorted, pushing Grian away and letting his head fall forward a bit before shaking it and looking up.
“Just, keeping you sane. I’m serious when I said I can not have you going ape right now.”
Sam nodded. That was easier said than done but he could keep it cool. At least long enough to figure a way back out of here.
He opened his mouth to ask if there was a place for them to stay- but the words never got a chance to be said. Not when a splash caught their attention. Turning towards it, Sam could see a figure bobbing up and down. His heart sped up and he was seriously going to lose it now. First Grian and now this? Was today just deciding to gang up on him and send into those weird black outs?
The buzz started to get louder and he felt the air harsh in his lungs. Faster and faster, breath coming short as his eyes refused to move away from the figure bobbing just feet from him. Grian was shaking him again but he roughly pushed the older man away, then reached out and grabbed him back.
“Sam! He still doesn’t know how to swim!!!”
“W-what?”
Grian growled and pushed Sam away. The rabbit could only watch as the Brit dove into the water towards the bobbing figure. At least the figure stopped bobbing, Grian’s arms secure around him.
“Sam!” Now Grian was bobbing, “H-help! He’s out cold!”
Panic. That was panic in Grian’s voice! High pitched but still gruff. It brought back memories he’d long ago hidden away.
“SAM!”
The buzz snapped into silence, the world rushing back to his senses. He grunted and pushed himself forward, reaching out and taking hold of the banded wrist. “Keep his head up, I...still can’t swim to good either.”
Grian nodded and between them they managed to get the black haired man on to the shore.
“I-is he.”
“I….I don’t know.”
They waited, breathes held as the figure before them remained still-before letting out a rather long and loud snore.
Water Damage Restoration Company Explains How to Deal With Water Leaks
Since 1995, Restoration Experts has been serving the Ronkonkoma and Long Island areas of New York with water damage, fire damage, puff back damage, and other restoration and cleaning services. The team of property damage restoration and cleaning professionals truly cares about their customers. A property damage disaster is emotionally traumatic, disrupting every facet of life until the damage is repaired. At Restoration Experts, the goal is to restore and repair a damaged property as quickly as possible so that the homeowner’s life can return to normal.
Discovering water damage can be traumatic. Arriving home to find water cascading down the steps in the garage certainly is disconcerting. Dodging the spray from the burst washing machine supply line can be frustrating. Discovering two feet of water in the basement after a tropical storm dumped ten inches of rain on Ronkonkoma certainly is unpleasant and challenging. Resolving a water leak begins with an inspection or assessment of the situation.
What type of water leak is causing the water damage?
Some leaks cause little or no damage and have a minimal repair cost. The greatest expense from this type of leak may be a higher water bill at the end of the month. Examples include an overflowing toilet or a malfunctioning sprinkler.
Some leaks are minimal but will worsen over time if undetected or ignored. Examples include an inner-wall leak, a leaky drain or supply line, or water escaping through gaps in the shower door. A leaky toilet or hot water heater may present a real danger if undiscovered or allowed to persist.
Leaks involving large amounts of water and causing significant damage require fast action to stop the leak and begin the cleanup and restoration process. These leaks are generally noticed very quickly because of the amount of water involved and the visible evidence of damage. Examples include a burst supply line, a frozen pipe, a major spill from a bathtub overflow, or a leak resulting from storm damage.
What to do when there is a minimal leak
Shut off all faucets and supply lines.
Check the water meter to see if water is still flowing into the home. The homeowner may be able to hear the meter registering water flow. A low-flow indicator on the meter may also provide a clue about the integrity of the plumbing in the home.
Turn off the supply line valves to the toilets. The toilet is a major source of water leaks. Work with one toilet at a time using the low-flow indicator. Remember, more than one toilet may have a leak.
Shut down other appliances. If water continues to leak, isolate each appliance to determine the source or sources of the leak.
What to do when a leak is causing minimal damage and needs attention
Turn off the water to the home at the meter before more extensive damage results from the leak.
Clean up the mess. Act quickly to prevent further damage to the home and personal belongings. Mold and mildew can begin to grow in as little as one or two days. Wear personal protective gear (PPG) such as boots, gloves, a mask, and eye protection. Splash from a messy toilet spill can cause serious illness. Take great care not to track “black water” into other parts of the home. While the damage may be minimal, the homeowner may not have the time or the ability to manage the cleanup process. Calling in a professional water damage restoration specialist makes sense when the homeowner is physically unable to clean up the mess or does not have the time to dedicate to the task.
Repair the leak or enlist the services of a plumber or water damage restoration specialist.
What to do when a major leak is causing significant damage
Turn off the water at the source. Shutting off the flow at the water meter may be required if the supply line does not have a shutoff valve or if the leak is between the pipe and the meter.
Document the damage with photos and video before beginning any cleanup efforts. A cell phone camera is adequate.
Call the insurance company as soon as possible so that they are aware of the issue and can take action to help assist in the cleanup and restoration process.
Identify and repair the source of the water damage. A reputable property damage restoration company will have the knowledge, experience, and equipment to remedy most leaks, or they will be able to contract out the leak repair to a competent plumber.
Begin the restoration process. Tackling a significant water damage event as a DIY project could save some money, but it could also be very expensive if the repairs are inadequate or if a misstep with the insurance company causes the claim to be refused. Professional restoration experts are comfortable working with insurance companies. Billing glitches are avoided, and the job is completed promptly.
Restoration Experts, a locally owned and operated property damage restoration company, serves Suffolk and Nassau Counties, including Ronkonkoma and Long Island. They offer fire damage restoration, water damage restoration, puff back damage restoration, and cleaning services. A response is guaranteed in one hour. Restoration Experts bills insurance claims directly, and there are no out of pocket expenses on most claims.
Review: The Quiet Man
Hey, pay attention
After I first witnessed the reveal for The Quiet Man I known as it “weird.” An innocuous sufficient remark for certain, however it made it onto Wikipedia. It is official!
It seems weird was an understatement.
One in every of my favourite horror/thriller motion pictures is of the previous 5 years is Hush: a narrative a few deaf writer who fends off a would-be attacker. Fashionable silent-focused movies aren’t a novel phenomenon (one other “quiet” movie A Quiet Place experimented with this idea with one character, as did The Artist as an entire), however the way in which it utterly altered a typical house invasion story intrigued me to no finish. That is what The Quiet Man makes an attempt to do with a mixture of reside motion and rendered gameplay. Makes an attempt. Developer Human Head’s lofty objectives are made clear for all of the world to see: it guarantees “high-production reside motion, reasonable CG and pulse-pounding motion gameplay.” It delivers on none of that.
Dane, our deaf protagonist, is right here to kick ass and take names: however none of his foes put up a ok battle. The complete fight system is way too floaty and the engine merely buckles below the load of the engine. Barely teleporting or clipping by assaults is commonplace, and the mashy assaults aren’t satisfying to drag off. Fights largely devolve into mashing a punch combo to get an enemy right into a nook (whereas the opposite timid AI keep away from urgent the problem), ending them off, then repeating the method.
There’s an effort to make issues look cinematic with slo-mo finishers, however they minimize faster than a season one Iron Fist battle scene to the purpose of low key glitching (is sub 10 frames-per-second a characteristic?): heck, many hits do not even join (an issue that extends to the reside motion parts with fast jarring cuts throughout battle scenes). There is a scarcity of larger-than-life complicated boss battles too, as most scraps are simply quick jaunts with generic punks or barely extra spongey ruffians.
My hopes and goals of lastly getting a follow-up to the splendidly janky PS2 motion romp The Bouncer (which amazingly was additionally launched by Sq. Enix) have been absolutely dashed as there may be virtually nothing of worth right here from a gameplay perspective. In case you are questioning: The Quiet Man does shrink back from QTEs in favor of getting a extra cinematic focus: one which even additional falters as a result of disconnect between the urgency of the true life sequences and the digital bits (a machete that appears lethal in reside motion is lowered to a plastic sword in-game).
youtube
Dane would not simply randomly beat folks up although, as there may be type of a way to his insanity. The Quiet Man is a wierd mixture of motion anime, David Cage and gritty night time time crime serials, spiced with floor up jank. There’s flashes of brilliance. I really like how one can make out dialogue by studying lips as a type of meta skill-based enterprise (most of you’ll hate this). The minimalist menu screens are neat and evoke imagery of primordial cave drawings. Its Birdman-like method to splice up cuts as fake one-takes to swap between reside motion and the in-game engine do work most of the time.
That stated lots of the seemingly charming oddities of The Quiet Man rapidly turn out to be laborious to shirk. Surprisingly, the identical few enemies are re-used always. Is it some type of fever-pitched commentary on how Dane tries to dissociate from violence by visualizing his most-hated adversaries? Is it a funds factor? I truthfully cannot inform.
Kneeing somebody within the face towards a unclean fridge and having a traumatic childhood reminiscence flash throughout the display is straight David Lynch-level surrealism. As you may need gleaned I am completely into this eccentric madness most of the time, however there is a restrict. It is one thing it is best to in all probability see in individual not less than as soon as in your life, however possibly as a part of a PlayStation Plus lineup or a free Humble Bundle providing. On condition that it is simply shy of three hours and might be thought of an extended movie, that prospect would possibly enchantment to you already.
“Roughly one week after launch” The Quiet Man is getting an replace that can add audio into the combo, and thus, context. Perhaps it will be probably the most subversive, Molyneux-esque patch within the historical past of gaming. For now, Sq. Enix is charging $14.99 for a ticket to trip and I can safely say that you would be able to miss this prepare.
