The OBELISK Cometh
Gentle Readers,
The Time has Come. We endeavour, in Light of Crushing Defeats and Curious Happenings, to build a Respectable TWO-TONNE OBELISK. It is a Grave and Crucial Task, to be Sure. It is not to be Undertaken Lightly; We must proceed with Great Caution to ensure the TWO-TONNE OBELISK does all it is Meant to do, Insofar as it will Soothe my Pains at the Hands of the Fraudulent Secret Book-seller.

[sexting] no live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone.

Stunt Double • July 2021.
Facing you, I am
tidally locked. I am not yet
caught in orbit.
I want to be a body
for you. Know this:
I am only as good as you are willing to be
to me. There is nothing
but the sound of the mirror
shattering. No light between us
but the sound of the mirror.
To me, there is nothing.
I am only as good as you are willing to be.
For you know this:
I want to be a body
caught in orbit,
tidally locked. I am not yet
facing you. (I am.)

Gentle Readers,
Per your Wise Counsel, I have purchased the Unabridged Poems of Sappho from my Secret Bookseller. The Cost was Dear Indeed, but I felt it my Duty to my Readers to acquire the Tome. Alas! That Person who I believed to be a Reputable Secret Bookseller was No Such Thing! Upon Receipt of my Much-Anticipated Purchase, what should greet my Eager Eyes but a Series of Engravings informing me, the Hapless Reader, "There are not to be any Unearthed Sapphic Lyrics, you Curd-Brain'd Cully!"
Upon seeking the Gentleman at his Former Establishment, I found the Place Quite Empty! Naturally, I am Most Distressed.

the question of whether or not Jin Guangyao killed Qin Su or Jin Rusong is so deeply unimportant to me and also misunderstands, i think, the framing of these murders in the text. in the end, it doesn't actually matter if he killed them or not, it doesn't even matter if he feels like he did or feels ultimately responsible for their deaths (both of which are not necessarily the same thing as having capital M murdered them). what's important is that people think he did. what's important is that all it takes to destroy a man & make him the next surrogate victim is a few well placed rumors, whether or not they're true. it happened to Wei Wuxian and then it happens to Jin Guangyao. it doesn't matter, ultimately, if he killed Qin Su or Jin Rusong, the only thing that matters is that people think he did and that they were so easily and vindictively swayed is one of the themes of the story. Jin Guangyao uses this against Wei Wuxian and then Nie Huaisang uses rumors and gossip against him because the only murder that actually matters in the story is the one that starts the story, the one we know Jin Guangyao did for certain, the founding murder if you will.
