The Marshall Field and Company Building is known for its two exterior clocks, which weigh about 7.5 short tons (6.7 long tons) each, on its northwest and southwest corners along State Street at both Randolph and Washington Streets. The southwest clock at the original Washington Street intersection, known as “The Great Clock”, was installed on November 26, 1897.

Photo Diary: The last 100 days

Days 83- 86

Visited Chicago for the first time ever. My boyfriend was flown out for a conference so I decided to tag along and explore the city on a budget! It was definitely freezing but I still had fun. Some of the highlights included: Eating a steak dinner at Bavette's, seeing Lake Michigan, the gothic architecture, and finally seeing Cloud Gate!

Even though lake sturgeon have been around for such a long time, there is still so much to be learned about them. “The Black River research facility has been restoring the sturgeon population and providing a better understanding of sturgeon, which is important to protect and restore this species, and it creates a big ripple effect,” Gass says. “Anything we can do to connect people to their local area — helping them see their role in stewardship conservation — is so valuable for protecting Michigan and Great Lakes natural resources.”
